- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Walking into the boarding house she laughed at the scene in front of her. Recently the girls in the house had gotten those who hadn’t read the books yet addicted to Harry Potter. She had just recently finished the final one and when she had left that morning Willow had agreed to rent the first two on DVD and watch them. So at the moment she was staring at a scene that was right out of the books themselves. Apparently a couple of the girls had taken it upon themselves to decorate the living room to make it look like the Gryffindor common room, a feat which wasn’t actually all that difficult since the furniture and stuff was red to begin with. Looking over at Stacy and Quinn, the only two potentials who were at the boarding house at the moment (and who she actually got along with quite well) she laughed. “You two have been busy I see.” She stated before quirking an eyebrow. “Do I need to dress up in a Hogwarts uniform or can I just change into pajamas?” She asked. Both girls giggled. Go ahead and just change into comfy clothes. The blonde slayer laughed again before heading upstairs to change.
Stripping out of her jeans, tank top and hoodie, she quickly washed her face and threw her hair up into a pony tail.
Slipping on a pair of black and white polka-dotted boxers, a gray tank top and her black sweater that she had worn so often it was almost now her robe, she walked downstairs, laughing when she saw the girls decked out in Hogwarts colors. She wasn't ever one that loved to read but she would admit that the Harry Potter series was interesting. She would never admit how much she had truly liked it to anyone ever, but she could think about it in her head.
Sitting on the couch she was pelted with a pair of rolled up socks with the tags still on them. She rolled her eyes but laughed at them when she looked closer, seeing they were Gryffindor socks. She thought briefly about refusing to put them on, but decided against it and went ahead and did it, getting into the spirit of things. After meeting with Connor earlier and having a nice normal conversation with someone that while yes, they both acknowledged the fact that they knew about supernatural stuff, it wasn't the basis of their conversation, she felt lighter than she had in awhile.
"So are the others back yet?" She asked. Not sure. Willow and Kathy both said they'd be back in a few minutes but that was about a half an hour ago. Hopefully they hurry up! I want to start the movie! She heard and nodded, secretly excited to watch it as well.

Willow was making her way into the video store looking for something the girls were dying to have, they all wanted to watch the Harry Potter movies Yay for Willow. It wasn’t that she didn’t like them or anything, she just thinks its funny when movies really think they know witches. The movies are so stereotypical sometimes, they seem to think that witches are ugly with moles on there face and ride on broom sticks all day long. Which isn’t really true at all, Willow has never ridden on one or needed to. Well there was that one time that she was really drunk and acted like she could, which is something she is still trying to forget. Buffy still laughs at her about it, it good thing she didn’t have pictures other wise everyone would see how dumb she looked. She all ready is sure that she has told everyone. She really needs to not get drunk, beer plus Willow equals bad.
After she got the moves she made her way up the register, it was a Friday night so the place was kind of busy. As she stood there waiting in line she couldn’t help seeing all the candy, which right now due to her boredom and hunger it all looked really good. So she started gabbing all the candy that she could hold, She thought Buffy and girls might like some. She stood there waiting for her turn with hands full of candy, trying not to drop it all. But finally after all the waiting it was her turn to pay for the stuff, she dropped down all the stuff on the counter suddenly. The man gave the witch a look like she was ridiculous. “What its not all for me, it movie night at home.” She said with a smile, knowing he didn’t believe her. After she prayed for candy, rented there movies and was on her way.
She got into her car and quickly made her way back to the house, she knew that Buffy and the girls were going to be happy when she get back. They have been so into this Harry Potter stuff lately its all they talk about. But then again its good that they have something to keep them sane, something that can help them not think about all the drama that comes along with there Slaying life. Sometimes it nice to have things like this to help you not think about it all. Finally Willow had made it house, she parked the car and quickly made it into the house. “I got the movies guys!” She yelled so all the girls could hear. “And I got lots of candy to go along with it.” She walked into the living room and there was Buffy all ready to go, socks and all. “Wow nice socks Buff, you really are styling those.” She said with a bit of a laugh.

atheryn 'Kathy' Anne O'Connor grinned. She was so excited for tonight! When Buffy had started reading the Harry Potter books she had secretly started planning Halloween with everyone. Oh yes, she had! She had dragged AJ to a Halloween party once and made his dress up as Harry Potter (he had lost a bet) while she went as Hermione. He had wanted her to go as Ginny so they could walk around together (she never understood why as he had gotten hit on so many times that night by other guys but whatever) however with her brown curly hair she made the perfect Hermione. Tonight was movie night at the house and the potential slayers that were still there, there were only a couple left as most as gone to Rome, had decided that they were all going to get into the spirit of things. She briefly thought about wearing her full on Hogwarts uniform, but it wasn’t very comfortable and if she was going to sit through two movies she wanted to be comfortable. They had agreed with her and decided against wearing theirs as well (who knew so many people liked Harry Potter) so compromising was the best idea they could come up with. So here she was, decked out in a pair of black and gray yoga pants, and a Gryffindor t-shirt. She even took it one step further and put on a Gryffindor knit cap over her pig tails, one pig tail sticking out from underneath each side. She would admit to looking like a tiny child in this outfit because of the hat and the pig tails, but she didn’t care. She wished her brother was here but he was out somewhere and she doubted he would sit through the movies to begin with without whining (not that he whined but the Angel equivalent to whining). Skipping up the stairs she broke into peals of laughter when she saw Buffy wearing some big long socks that were Harry Potter socks. She walked over and sat down next to her, curling into her side. Over the past few months she and Buffy had become incredibly close and the young girl usually was her shadow unless she had to be somewhere that Kathy couldn’t follow her. There was only one person who Kathy’s affection rivaled Buffy’s and that was Angel, and even then there were some things only a girl would understand. “Hi.” She told her happily and grinned when she felt Buffy squeeze her shoulders and let her cuddle with her. Her laughter continued when Willow walked into the door and commented on Buffy’s socks. “She should totally wear those out to beat up vampires one of these days. Those would definitely scare them away.” She told Willow with a giggle, mock shivering before breaking into more laughter. Not many people had seen her this happy and outgoing since she had been here, but it was a nice change from the shy girl that she usually was. Word Count: 532! Tag: Lots of People! Angel had learned quite a few new things tonight. Some he wished that he hadn't, but new things nonetheless. One of the good things had been that his son was in town. It'd confused him at first but honestly it was a good thing. Something was definitely looming in the air and the help would probably be needed soon enough. Connor's education was important to Angel, but the boy was now an adult and could do as he pleased. Something he wished he hadn't found out...well there were a slew of these things. First, Faith had known that Connor had been in town and hadn't bothered to mention it to him in his earlier patrol with him. However he soon discovered just why she'd been keeping it to herself. Which brought him to his second thing; Connor and Faith had essentially made out the other night. It wasn't all that bad, other than the fact that she'd let him on. Thirdly, he found out that Spike and Faith were essentially a 'thing' which he'd talk to her later about. And lastly, Spike had hit his son..
Soon, he'd be paying for that, as it was not okay in Angel's book.
With a huff Angel and his son exited the bar they'd been chatting in. He was a pit perturbed about Faith and Spike, and Spike and Connor, leading him to even further believe that Spike was the center around most of the group's problems. Since Connor had driven his own car to the bar they drove separately with Angel in the lead. While he was disappointed that they couldn't continue their conversation, he couldn't blame the kid for wanting his own car at the house. If something went down...at least he'd have his own means of an escape route.
Angel would have been lying if he said he wasn't worried about bringing Connor to the house. As he exited the freeway and came to stop at the light, he couldn't help but wonder how Buffy was going to react. More than likely...she'd have a heart attack. And how would Kathy react? Probably even worse. The girl still didn't know that he had a son, and it was going to absolutely break her to find out. The two of them had recently become close again and he'd even taken back his fatherly mantra around her. Now that his son would be joining the group, he was afraid she'd angrily pull away from him. He hoped for the best...but expected the worst.
Finally pulling up into the driveway of the Boarding House, he slowly maneuvered his car behind Buffy's and watched as Connor followed suit. Taking a moment to gather his thoughts he exited the car just as Connor did the same. As his son made his way over to him, one of his hands reached out to touch Connor's shoulder. "Listen, I'm not going to lie to you. This isn't about to be easy...just remember that your my son, and I love you. Okay?" With this he let his hand fall to his side, and directed them onto the porch of the Boarding House.
With one last glance to reassure his son, he twisted the knob and slowly walked into the foyer. In the living room he noticed that the girls had done some redecorating..and there sat Buffy and Katheryn. With a slightly unsure look on his face, he stepped to the side so they could see Connor standing next to him. "Everyone...this is my son, Connor."

Climbing into his own car, Connor eased into the driver's seat with a furrowed brow. The door beside him seemed to shut with a sense of finality, as the sudden quiet of the Firebird punctuated the fog his head was still wrapped in since leaving California. If anything, why was he surprised that everything was already on it's head? It seemed to be the way of things, or more accurately the way things went for him. The self-loathing part of him wanted to attribute it to him being cursed; the pessimist willing to attribute it to the merits of him never being born. But it was the hope he so foolishly held on to that had him turning over the engine and igniting such thoughts along with the petrol within.
With one last adjustment of his rearview mirror, Connor caught his own gaze. Steeling his reserve, he turned after Angel and began the travel back to the House. It was interesting how many times he had come up and down this particular stretch of road; though this time the silence in the car was significant. Deafening, almost. And all too soon, they were there. And all too soon, he was parked. Despite how badly he wanted to stay in the car, Connor was no coward. "Here we go…" Nothing in his life was easy, and only a fool would think this was going to go well. He at the very least was going to meet Buffy; if he was really cursed he'd run into Faith. With his resolve in place, Connor climbed out of the car to catch up with his father.
And then, Angel let a hand rest on his shoulder. At his Dad's words, Connor felt a rock plummet into his stomach. This was going to go horrible, terrible even. It was Cordelia and Gunn and Wes and Fred and every other awful thing that centered around Los Angeles all over again. "Ll-love you too, Dad." His wide eyes shown every ounce of panic rolling inside, so convinced it was going to go wrong Again. Nodding a few times, he managed a half-smile, albeit crooked and wavering before following after Angel. The cool metal of his cross lay pressed beneath his t-shirt and against his skin, the concession made for Angel's comfort. With his gaze locked on the floor a few feet ahead of him, Connor flicked up his eyes with a small wave and quirked awkward grin. "Hey…"
Blinking a few times Connor couldn't keep the look of shock off his face. First, there was Willow; and he couldn't be more relieved. While they met under the strangest of circumstances, Willow was at least a friendly face and a comfort he wasn't expecting. Secondly, there was a younger woman there. One that while he had never seen her before, she had bright blue eyes. Haunting and lovely, yet eerily familiar. A subtle scenting of the air clued him in on his instincts being correct; she was something not human. But remarkably, the sweet smiled girl wasn't the biggest shock. There, before him in what could only be pajamas was a face he hadn't seen in, about twenty minutes. Tucking an errant strand of hair behind his ear, Connor looked over at Anne with pulled brows and confused eyes. His own bright blue, familiar eyes…

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -She smiled softly at the young brunette who skipped in and immediately curled herself into her side. She would admit, when Kathy had first shown up she had been nervous at how they would get along because of how much she meant to Angel, however she had been worried for nothing. She and Kathy had bonded in a way that she couldn't even really explain. The two were more than just friends, and more than just family. She almost saw Kathy as a daughter which was strange since other than Dawn she had never really had a maternal instinct, at least in her opinion. If anyone else had been asked she would probably be surprised by the answer, but in her mind she had only really ever felt these feelings, the protective and loving feelings, towards Dawn and Kathy.
Before she could ask her anything though Willow opened the door, announcing that she had the movies as well as candy. She could see the glee in the young girls' eyes as they eyed the candy with speculation and desire, and she made a mental note to watch their sugar intake. She didn't want to annoy the whole household with hyper teenagers all night...she could just imagine what Giles would say to that one.
Hearing Willow and then Kathy's comments about her socks she shot them a mock glare. "I'll have you know that I looked long and hard for these socks!" She told them with fake outrage before laughing. "Nah, just kidding, I was pelted in the head with them and told to wear them." She stated, nodding at the two potentials that shot back innocent looks that would make an angel cry and wish they could look that innocent. Oh yeah, those two would be trouble eventually. She really liked both of them, but she could tell they had a bit of mischief in them with pretty good poker faces. Yep, they'd be trouble.
Before she could comment any further (and she really wanted to comment because she had the perfect rebuttal that involved Bat Man Pajamas and a lost bet) she heard the door open. She turned and noted with a soft smile that it was Angel. However before she could say a word she looked on in confusion as Connor followed him inside. It only took her a split second before the knowledge of how dense she had been hit her like a ton of bricks. He hadn’t even said the words and she had already figured it out. Connor. Angel’s son. Darla’s son. Connor. Well, at least that solved that mystery of wondering who the heck he reminded her of…now that she thought about it the answer was plainly obvious. He didn’t look like either Angel or Darla, but his personality and the way he carried himself was all Angel.
That knowledge shot a stab of pain through her chest but she refused to say a word, instead focusing on Kathy as she tensed in her arms as she heard Angel’s words. Yeah, this wasn’t going to be good.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Willow joked along with little vampire about the socks, but Kathy herself was even ready to go wearing her Harry Potter shirt. She looked so cute. “You know Buffy those socks are great but Kathy is really rocked that hat, I think she might just have you beat there.” She said giving the little vamp a smile. She then begin putting all the candy on the table, she spared it all out so it was easy to pick from. You could tell that Willow really had gone nuts this time, she looked over at Buffy knowing she was going to think she was crazy. She was waiting for the same look that the cashier had given to her. “look before you say anything I didn’t know what Kathy was going to like, so I just bought a bunch of stuff. So this isn’t all for me ok.” The witch said smiling feeling guilty, because sadly Willow probably was going to consume a lot more then she wanted to admit.
She then walked over to the to the entertainment center of the living room, she being to open up the movie rentals to put them in the DVD player. But as she did Willow could hear a car parking in the drive way, she wasn’t sure quite sure who it was just yet. But it wasn’t long before it was Angel coming threw the door, he must have been just now getting home. But it looked as though he had someone with him. The witch gave him a good hard look before she realized who it was, it was Angels son Connor. It had been a long time since Willow had last seen him, the last time she recalls was when she was helping Angel get back his soul in L.A. It seemed as though the two were getting along a lot better now then they were last she saw them. Willow knew this wasn’t going to be good, Buffy nor Kathy had ever met Connor. It seemed like movie night was now official over.
But Willow knew she had to try and make this a good night, plus she didn’t want to be rude. Shortly after Angel had walked in and introduced him she walked over to say hi, might as well kill the silence while she is ahead. “Hey Connor its nice to see you again, its Willow remember from back in L.A. So how you been?” The witch said with excitement in her voice. She then turned and looked at Angel. “So did he just get into town then?” She said with a lost like tone to her voice. She really hoped tonight wasn’t going to take a turn for the worst, she was really worried to see how everyone was going to take this. She was sure Buffy would be ok but the question was did Kathy know. The witch is always so out of the loop on things she never knows anymore in less Buffy tells her. Plus she had never really though about it or not if the two had knew each other, guess she kind of had forgotten about Connor.
atheryn 'Kathy' Anne O'Connor giggled. She could tell that Buffy wanted to reply to her statement about patrolling in her Harry Potter socks (most likely saying something about all vampires being scared of Harry Potter or something similar) but before she could the door to the boarding house opened and in walked her older brother, followed by another man that she didn’t know. She opened her mouth to say something such as hello or simply to annoy Angel by begging him to watch the movie with them, but Angel’s words cut her off before she even had a chance to let out more than a breath. Being a vampire had its perks and one of them was a really good memory. Sometimes this was a good thing, and sometimes she wished that she couldn’t remember things because like in this instance all she could remember was that her older brother, the man she had looked at as a father, had lied to her. Actually, that's not true. There was a rumor going around a few years ago, Anthony told me who I think heard it from his uncle or something that there were two vampires who had a kid. I don't think they ever gave a name but you never know, anything is possible I guess.Sounds crazy if you ask me So maybe he hadn’t lied to her but she had given him an opening to tell her about his apparent son and he refused, not saying a word! He could have easily told her then that he had apparently had a child with someone, making it known that he had a kid so that she was simply his sister! But no, he kept it inside! How could he do this to her? Yes she realized she was probably acting irrationally but really what else could she do? She had been alone for over two hundred years and had finally found the man that she had thought of as a father, only to find out that he had really moved on without her. He had a family, and it was one that didn’t include her. Not taking her eyes off of the boy, well man, who she immediately felt a strong sense of dislike towards. She knew it was irrational as he hadn’t chosen his parents and he hadn’t been the one who had lied to her, but in that moment she knew that he had everything that she wanted. She was tense in Buffy’s arms as she stared at the man before she met his eyes, and when she did she immediately felt as if all of the air was sucked out of the room (which wouldn’t do much since she was a vampire, but still). She had seen those eyes before. A woman, dressed as a noblewoman, though her face was deformed, came into the room shortly after her parents screams quieted. She whispered to her Don’t be scared little one, you won’t die. I need you for backup. She told her and Kathy felt herself being lifted up, and all of a sudden she was being pressed against the woman’s neck, where her blood immediately went down her throat. She didn’t understand what was happening to her, but it only lasted moments before she fell into a deep sleep.No! No! No! NO!! She felt herself tearing up but refused to acknowledge it. Where she would usually go to Angel for comfort she now sought in Buffy, turning to her, begging her to tell her that it wasn’t true. Unfortunately she didn’t get the reassurance that she desperately needed and instead of simply sitting there and pretending to be okay, she did what any normal eleven year old would do. She stood up, stomped over to Angel and glared at him. “You lied to me.” She told him, her face angry, her eyes flashing to the yellow that normally accompanied her game face but her face remained smooth, though the tears rolling down her cheeks might have hidden it either way. “How could you?” She asked him, not giving him any time to respond before walking out the door, slamming it behind her. She was alone in the world, for the first time she felt utterly alone. And that knowledge threatened to undertake her. Word Count: 738! Tag: Lots of People! Maybe this was going to be worse than he'd originally thought. He realized this the second he saw the look on Buffy's face. Not only was she mortified but it seemed she was at a loss of words. Buffy never found herself lacking something to say so yeah, this was going to be bad. Whilst in the midst of staring at his lover and his baby sister, he apparently hadn't been paying attention and as he heard Willow's voice he seemed startled. With a questioning look he forced his eyes to leave the two girls and turn to the witch. "Yeah --- a few nights ago. I just ran into him tonight, though.." he said, looking back to Buffy and Katheryn. He'd added that he'd only just run into him so they didn't think he'd been hiding Connor. After all, that would have only made the situation seem worse. Plus he didn't have anything to hide. Connor was his son and he wasn't going to feel ashamed of that.
At least one person seemed genuinely happy to see Connor. Or maybe the redhead was simply trying to diffuse the situation. Either way he couldn't be sure but was glad that she had broken the awkward silence. Watching his baby sister, he wished that she hadn't had to find out like this. He wished he could have sat her down alone and told her. Buffy as well. But he knew that even Buffy would take this better than Katheryn was. No matter how old she liked to act as if she was, Katheryn was still a baby, to him at least. He knew that not only would she feel betrayed...but she'd feel unloved as well. Plus he'd had the chance to tell her back at the Water park and had instead brushed it off, afraid to ruin their day together. Perhaps he should have just told her, at least she wouldn't have been this blindsided. Oh, how he wished he could turn back time in this very moment.
Watching the girl stand up and off the couch and stomp over to him, he felt his undead heart break. "I know, I'm sorry..." he told her genuinely, reaching down with a hand to attempt to wipe away her tears. Everything inside of him made him feel low. He was feeling lower than he had felt in a very long time, and felt even lower knowing he could have avoided all of this if he'd only come out and told her. Before he could even touch her or respond she stomped off and slammed the door behind her. "Katheryn" he yelled out to the door, knowing she'd hear it even on the other side being that she was a vampire. Frozen in that moment he wasn't sure what to do. On one hand he didn't know if he should go after her or not, and on the other, he didn't want to leave his son either. Looking to Buffy for guidance he knew he shouldn't have bothered. She wasn't going to help him in this situation. Not this time, considering what all Connor symbolized....what he couldn't give to her but had given to another woman.
Deciding that Connor was old enough to care for himself, he began to strode towards the door and go after her. However before he could he turned to see Buffy doing the same and stopped dead in his tracks. Perhaps it should be her instead, though it killed him to think so.
Taking a heartbeat, Connor waited for everything to turn pear-shaped. And pear-shaped it went. Anne, though through context clues he was going to go out on a limb and guess that wasn't her real name, looked betrayed; as if him being here was some great physical proof of something horrible. It was a look he was used to, though it usually came from Holtz and not someone he very much wanted to consider a friend. "Guessing 'Anne' is short for something?" It wasn't spoken coldly, more a touch detached. As if he was trying to get his brain to wrap around everything and needed to remain as emotionally neutral as possible. His timbre was lower than usual, a gentle gravel that his father would recognize as pained.
Assassin… Murderer… Monster…
Turning to the redhead, Connor gave a tight lipped smile. While she was trying, there was a part of him that didn't want to trust her; that felt at it's core that magic was evil and she was going to hurt his pregnant mate, his baby. But that wasn't him, that wasn't real. The machinations of Cordelia and Jasmine had no place here, especially since both women were long since gone from his life. It was the scared boy from Quor'thoth that hated, feared the Witch. It was Connor that wanted to take the peace offering she held out to him. "I remember you, Willow. I've been Fine." Fucked up. Insecure. Neurotic. Emotional. Yup, that's me in a nutshell… When she turned to Angel, Connor felt an undercurrent of unspoken communication to such a simple question. 'Have you been hiding him?' or 'Why is he here?', Hell there was even a level of 'He's going to ruin everything' in there. Whether or not that was his own neuroses was anyone's guess, but that wasn't where his heart broke.
It was the young woman, the brunette would looked so absolutely joyous moments before became a wash of everything awful. Hurt, Betrayal, Fear. All from looking at him. His stomach clenched, face showing his guilt and torment at being the cause of her pain. When she came forward, her words were like daggers despite them being directed towards Angel. He visibly flinched, even as her eyes leaked over to molten gold. The tears, each one brought another memory of Hell. Another memory of how him simply being there, being in this world caused nothing but pain. His back itched, burned; the faint lines of thin scars pulling at his skin. The memory of them had his eyes closing as his mind went back there. The bite of the belt, the utter disgust in his Father's eyes and disdain in his voice.
'Steven Franklin Thomas Holtz, how could you? Confess...'
He had shamed his Father, sinned, given in to his demonic nature. It was to be expected, he was an awful, wicked thing after all. Down to the blood, the bone, the core of his putrid and twisted soul; he could not help being an evil thing. It was His Nature.
Confíteor Deo omnipoténti... Beatae Mariae semper Virgini…
Without meaning to, he had caused more pain, more suffering. But the fact that it was in someone so young, so dear to Angel that made it all the worse. With the combination of her golden eyes and hair raising scent, Connor could only assume her vampiric nature. And whoever this 'Katheryn' was, she was in so much pain. The fact that she looked at him with so much vitriol made perfect sense, after all, Her and Angel seemed so close...
Beato Michaeli Archangelo... sanctis Apostolis omnibus Sanctis…
As soon as she stormed off, door slamming behind her, Connor could feel the welling of tears against his closed lids. She was so much like his little sister, in age and temperament. As Angel pulled away, Connor felt a wistful smile pull at his lips. This was a mistake, coming here. He had a life, had a family, had a purpose back home in L.A.; being here was causing anguish, rending a family apart, all so he could what, not belong? There was nothing for him here, and it would be so incredibly selfish to stay. Hearing Angel's feet trail after the young girl, Connor's eyes opened, face stony.
Et tibi Pater... quia peccavi nimis... Cogitatione... verbo et opere…
So much was happening, everything moving in slow motion; iced in crystalline clarity. The roaring of his pulse in his ears was punctuated by the memory of leather striking flesh. Whispers of how worthless, disgusting, vile, damned he was never feeling more real than right at this moment. As he watched Whatever-She-Wanted-To-Go-By head after the young vampire, Connor took a deep breath. Good, with as gentle of a soul that 'Anne' had, she could help the Innocent. She needed someone; all he would do despite his heart yearning to apologize for being born, being there, would cause more undue misery. With schooled features, he let out a soft sigh before giving Willow an empty, yet even 'smile'. He wanted to say something, but the words wouldn't come. What could he possibly say that would be good enough? Mea culpa... mea culpa... Mea maxima culpa. [/blockquote] ::stop:: 'Assassin, Murderer, Monster' above from 'Legal Assassin', it seemed like things Holtz would have called Connor. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -It felt as if there was a waterfall that made it impossible to hear. She could tell that Willow was talking, she thought she heard her greet Connor and say something about it being nice to see him, but for the life of her she couldn't figure out exactly what she said. She didn't know if Willow knew Connor, though it seemed as if she did. That bothered her because she had never really thought about the fact that Willow had known that Angel had a son and hadn't told her. This would usually make her question if she really knew her best friend as well as she thought but her mind was so boggled down with things that she knew this wasn’t the time to start questioning everything.
She would deal with her best friend later though...of that she was positive.
She heard Willow ask Angel when Connor had gotten into town and was a bit relieved to hear that they had just run into one another. A part of her had thought that he had kept this from her, so she was glad to know that she had been mistaken. Unfortunately before she could reply it seemed Kathy had snapped out of it and turned to her, looking at her with a pleading expression. She smiled down at the young girl, trying to reassure her that everything was okay, but apparently it did the opposite. She wasn't quite sure what was going on but it seemed as if her look had set things off and before she could stop her the young vampire was up off the couch and in front of her older brother.
Hearing Kathy tell Angel that he lied to her she quickly made the deduction that Angel had neglected to tell his younger sister about his son...not good. Hearing the young girl's question about how could he spurred the blonde slayer in motion and she was up off the couch before she had made the conscious decision to do so. She saw Angel moving to go after her but she shook her head. "No, let me." She told him, shooting him a look. "Not sure what's going on but by the way things went down you either completely avoided talking about your son to her or you flat out lied. I'm hoping it's the first one but either way Angel you should have told her." She told him, her voice soft but firm, letting him know that she wasn't happy with him at the moment but she knew that yelling would do absolutely no good.
Turning to Connor she shot him a small smile. "It's nice to see you again Connor. As for your question, yes, it is short for something…Buffy Anne Summers." She told him simply, knowing that it would leave more questions but not caring, she quickly headed out onto the front porch, seeing Kathy simply staring at the sky in sadness as tears ran down her cheeks. She gathered the young girl into her arms and tried to comfort her, but she knew that no one other than Angel would be able to really comfort her in the way she needed. "How about I call AJ and he come and get you?" She asked and felt more than heard her agree. Buffy quickly dialed AJ's number and told him that he needed to come get Kathy. She didn't give him any details, simply told him that something had gone down and she needed to get out of here. She hung up with him and looked back down at the young girl in her arms, seeing so much of her older brother in him that it was almost shocking. "It's okay...It's all going to be okay."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Willow was really sensing a strange vibe that was coming off of Connor, almost like he really didn’t like or care for her at all. Which had her really confused and hurt, she really didn’t know what she had ever done to him. But how he was acting also had her kind of wounding if he could be trusted at all, it was strange though after all this time not seeing Connor and now all the sudden he is there. Willow knew that later she needed to fill Buffy in on how she was feeling about him, all though right now Buffy didn’t seem so happy either. It then had Willow wondering did Buffy know that in fact this was Angels son, or did she in fact not know that he even had one. That was the only reason Willow had never said a thing to Buffy she always thought she knew, seeing how her and Angel talk and fight about everything under the sun. So it would be a shocker if she didn’t know. All though she acted like she had at lest met him before, so maybe she was wrong. Willow knew one thing right now she was very lost.
It seemed as though someone was unaware about it, it broke the witches heart to see little Kathy begin to cry. How could Angel never tell her the truth about Connor, after all he was there family she needed to know. She watched as the little vamp begin to run out the door, she wanted to so badly to go after her and make sure she was safe. But she knew that Kathy wouldn’t come to her, not right now with out upset she was. She knew that it ether had to be Angel or Buffy, but with how mad she was at him Buffy would be the best choice in the matter.
But Buffy all ready had taken the idea right out of Willow’s head going after the little vamp. “Be careful Buffy.” She said to her before she walked out the door. Which now left only three people in the room. Angel, Connor and a not so happy witch. This night that was suppose to be filled with fun and happiness, instead it became filled with sadness and lies. So right now she was a very pissed off witch! “Angel how could you do that to her? Why didn’t you tell Kathy about Connor, how could you lie to the one person that loves you more then anyone! Well other then Buffy but you get what I mean!” She said stumping her foot to the ground. “You lied to your own sister after everything she has been threw with you, even with the whole Angelus you still did. Come one she has been threw enough!.” Willow was very disappointed in Angel, she didn’t get why he had lied to Kathy it didn’t make sense. It didn’t even sound like something he would do, so she was very interested to hear is reason in this. She also hoped that poor Kathy was ok, she hoped that Buffy had found her and made sure she was safe.

atheryn 'Kathy' Anne O'Connor wasn’t sure what to do. A part of her wanted to go back inside and scream at her brother some more while the other part of her wanted to run away and never return. She wondered if there was a memory spell that Willow could do on her, something that would force her to forget that she had ever come here in the first place. No, she couldn’t do that. She wouldn’t want to forget that she had found her older brother again nor would she want to forget that she had met so many new friends. That didn’t mean that she wasn’t upset though because she definitely was. She wasn’t sure what to do. She might be over two hundred years ago but in a lot of ways she was still a child and a child’s mind was not equipped to deal with this situation. How could he lie to her? Okay, so maybe not lie but he withheld information from her, information that she deserved to have and he simply kept it from her. He had stood there and told her that she was like a daughter to him, and she had basked in that feeling. Now she wondered if he meant any of what he said. Did he really want her around or was she just a substitute for his real child? That thought cut her to the core and it was then that Buffy found her, tears streaming down her face as she looked up into the sky. Kathy felt Buffy's arms wrap around her and she turned her head into her stomach, crying silent tears. She answered her question with a nod and a soft yes, though she doubted anyone heard it. She could hear the conversation with AJ that Buffy was having but said nothing when she told her that it was going to be okay. She didn't know that and she wasn't sure if she believed that. It didn't take AJ long to get there and she could tell by the look on his face that he wanted to figure out what was going on but she didn't give him a chance as she threw herself into his arms. She just wanted to go somewhere, anywhere but here. "Let's go." She whispered and waited for AJ to look at her before she nodded. It didn't take long before they were speeding away from the house, and for the moment she didn't know when she was going to come back. Word Count: 447! Tag: Lots of People! Hell had officially been let loose in the Boarding House. Could it get any worse at that point? He clearly found out that it could, and it did, as Buffy shot him a look. It was a look he'd seen before and it really wasn't a good luck whatsoever. Not only was he in trouble with Katheryn, but now Buffy as well. However he'd seen both of these things happening before he'd even arrived. Still didn't mean that he didn't cringe at the sight of Buffy's look. When she basically shot him down on going to find Katheryn he simply nodded like he was a young puppy who'd been whacked with a newspaper. Immediately his eyes looked down to his shoes as honestly, he didn't want to face her. Angel was far from a coward but he also didn't want to make things worse.
However apparently though they would get worse whether or not he said anything, hearing Buffy reprimand him for not telling Katheryn about Connor. "I lied to her" he admitted, though he knew he'd regret that in a minute or two from now. Knowing that the comment would hurt Connor, he made the promise to himself to apologize to him later as well. It wasn't that he was ashamed of his son or anything. It was more or less that he'd known Katheryn would react like this. He had known it would have upset her deeply and hadn't wanted to do that. Plus he didn't think Connor would be around anytime soon, or if at all, and so he hadn't wanted to hurt her for nothing. Or, make her curious and want to meet him and have her disappointed when she never did. So yes he'd lied to her...but he'd done it purposely so he wouldn't hurt her. Did that mean nothing?
Raising his eyebrows nearly off of his forehead his gaze went from Buffy, to Connor, and back to Buffy. "Again?" he asked incredulously. What the hell? Did the two know each other? However Connor had called her Anne, this was all too strange...not to mention confusing. As she told him her full name, it clicked. When they'd met she'd lied about her name, using only her middle. What on earth had told her to do that he hadn't a clue. The second that Buffy was out the door the redheaded witch turned on him. Literally and verbally, looking to him with not so happy eyes.
A bit taken aback by Willow's outburst it took him a moment to actually gather the momentum to speak. Eyes widened and one eyebrow quirked at her, patiently waiting for her to finish speaking as she hadn't given him a chance to interject until the very end. "I didn't tell her because I didn't want to hurt her. Don't you think I wanted to?" Angel hated that he'd lied to her. He'd felt guilty about it ever since that day in the water park and it was now back to haunt him. Making a point out of it to look at Connor, he kept his eyes there for a moment. "That's the only reason I didn't tell her. I knew she'd be upset...I knew she'd think you were taking me away from her. She doesn't understand that both of you can be in my life, and that I can love you both." Hearing a car pull away he assumed that it was Buffy and Katheryn leaving, and simply shook his head, mumbling to himself about how dumb he was. "Welcome home, son" he told him with an apologetic look, though he was slightly sarcastic as it was a completely preposterous statement. Couldn't possibly get any worse than this, could it?

Of course -she's- Buffy, She's perfect.
The wistful smile came out from under the wave of self-loathing, helping to clear his head enough to truly absorb what she was saying. Angel was hiding things from him, keeping things from him, in a way lies of omission. It was something he knew the elder vampire was capable of and had done in the past to keep people safe. But that didn't make it hurt any less, didn't take the sting out of the betrayal to soothe over with 'for the best'. It was a paltry comfort, one so far removed from truly fixing something once it cracked. Resin in the glass still showed the flaw after all. In fact, it was the smile from Buffy that eased his pain enough to push back the memories of Steven enough to let Connor return to the fold. And if all he could was smile back at her, albeit damaged and wavering, he wanted her to know how much that simple kindness was to him.
No one had ever given him a lifeline of simple compassion. And here she had, in the midst of someone she loved being torn apart and he simply marveled at how much a small action could ripple outward. He wasn't alone, and he would be damned if he was going to wallow in his own misery when people, other good and innocent people were hurt. Resolving to pull himself up by the bootstraps, Connor swallowed hard and took a deep and cleansing breath. He already had so many father figures, so many voices rolling around in his head. Holtz, Angel, Laurence, swirling and whispering in his mind conflicting orders, differing directions and opposite ideals. Whenever he became overwhelmed, they grew in volume; fueled by his own subconsciousness and echoing resounding in their cacophony. But with a simple smile and selflessness, Connor felt a profound change within; a shifting as a gentle voice stilled the chaos with a mention of what it means to be a Hero.
Thanks, Buffy. Now you're in there too…
With the cleansing breath calming his heart and racing memories, Connor watched as Willow did what he could only assume was what she always did. Watching the fierce redhead go to War on behalf of someone else's heart pushed that last bit of caution and misgivings about her out of his mind. He was being a twit when it came to not trusting her, and he was past that. Past being a damned Holtz. And when she mentioned exactly who the young girl was, Connor couldn't help but breathe out an echo of Willow's speech. "Sister…" He had no idea who she was, no idea that Angel had a little sister, that he had an aunt. Had Family. Blood Family. The fact that she was a vampire was as relevant as her having coffee and honey brown hair. Just another fact about her, another detail that made up someone he very much wished he didn't meet under such awful conditions.
The 'again' felt like a knife, as he tried to not flinch at such a tone coming out of the man beside him. While he knew he should, ideally, explain; he couldn't muster the drive to do so. Each moment of time with Buffy was something he needed, something he treasured in it's simplicity and importance. He knew the conversation held weight before, but now knowing she was the woman Angel was deliriously in love with made it all the more incredible. She was soft yet strong, wise yet playful, welcoming yet cautious; she was everything he imagined Darla should have been if she wasn't such a selfish monster. And regardless of how many times 'She died for you to be born' he was told, it was still suicide. Selfish suicide. There could have been a way, anything was possible if people genuinely tried hard enough. But she chose to leave, chose to hurt Angel on the way out and make it all about herself. To then come to him, after the torturous eighteen years in Quor'thoth to show up at the last minute to try and offer motherly wisdom? Not when Daniel Holtz took to the 'spare the rod, spoil the child' method of parenting, or the corporal punishment side of Victorian Christianity? No… she once more had to be in the spotlight, and it made him sick. If anyone deserved to be in that role it was the woman out comforting someone who wasn't even her blood because she was breaking due to misplaced trust and lies. That was the definition of 'Mother'. And impossibly his respect in Buffy doubled as his faith in Angel wavered.
Mother is God in the eyes of a Child, after all…
As Willow picked up the proverbial banner of Defender of Hurt Souls and Broken Hearts, Connor couldn't help but want to show some form of solidarity. Something, anything to prove that just because he never should have been born didn't mean he wouldn't do everything to try and fix him being the mistake. Gently he reached his hands out, hopefully to softly wrap around Willow's in comfort. "It's okay, Willow. He wouldn't have had to tell her if I stayed away. You can lay your arms down now, Red." With the intention of softly squeezing her hands empathetically to add punctuation to his statement, he gave her a lost smile. The one Buffy ironically saw on his face about a half-hour ago in the bar. That watery guilty smile that was very much a broken man determined to set things to rights. "Please, tell Kathy I am so sorry I hurt her; it was the last thing I wanted to do to, especially without meaning to. And that when she's ready I'd very much like to apologize in person, if she would like…"
As Angel tried to rationalize his actions, Connor felt his heart go numb. "Then what was your rationale for not telling me about her?" His words weren't nasty per se, merely quiet and slightly iced. Hollow was the perfect definition to his current condition, and he didn't like it. It felt too much like before; something he thought Angel had chosen not to have him feel again. It was the same wooden emptiness after he had to kill his daughter, the one person who loved him unconditionally. As the wound of being a failed Father ate away at his heart, he scoffed dryly at the 'welcome'. Where the heart is… shame most days I don't have one…
"Thank you for the hospitality, but I should get going. No one should feel vulnerable in their own home." Fishing his keys from his pocket, Connor wondered how he could leave with his dignity intact while juggling his keys and trying to not break down himself...
::stop:: Feeling all the Feelings ever!! <3 I am with you in totally loving this thread! Oh, And the concept of Connor's conscience being his multiple fathers' voices in his head is from the comics, but I thought it was beautiful psychology. And instead of Kate being the new 'voice', I want it to be Buffy. Kate didn't deserve it, but Buffy does. Again, it's obviously his own mind's rationale for a conscience and not something supernatural, but the imagery was too beautiful not to touch on. ::look:: Outfit and Car ::listen:: Some Nights by Fun. ::you're it:: Buffy, Willow, Kathy, Angel ::the credit:: Jess <3
