- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -The blonde slayer watched as Kathy launched herself into AJ's arms. She turned to her friend, sighing as he asked with a simple raise of one eyebrow what happened as he held the young girl to his chest. She knew that AJ usually wasn't one to comfort those around him but this was different. She shook her head once, letting him know that she wouldn't get into it with him now...but she would tell him later when Kathy wasn't around. She didn't want to upset the young girl anymore than she already was...though she knew at that moment that not much was sinking in with her. "Call me later." She mouthed, letting him know to let her know when they were on their way back.
Watching as the two sped away she took a deep breath before walking back up the stairs, being quiet though she really didn't know why she was trying to be as silent as she was. She didn't even get the door open before she heard Willow's voice which was raised, something that didn't happen very often. She closed her eyes, trying to scale back her own emotions. She knew that she was going to have to be the strong one in this situation, though realistically it wasn't fair to ask her to be so. This was the child of the love of her existence and his sire...something that shook her to the core. Yet, she had to put that aside, probably indefinitely, in order to deal with other things.
As was the way of her life she supposed.
Apparently Willow had stopped yelling as she only heard faint rumblings. After a moment or two she figured enough time had passed and she opened the door, and was met face to face with Connor who was jiggling his keys in his hand. She took one look at him and quickly took his keys from him, shaking his head. "Don't think so." She told him, hoping her smile was genuine as she really did get along well with the younger man. "Turn right back around and go back in there." She stated, not giving him a chance to try and disagree, she simply grabbed his arm and dragged him back into the living room. "So, how's everyone doing?" She asked sarcastically, placing Connor's keys in her pocket so there was no way he could get them.
“Listen, I know everything’s a bit, jumbled right now, but let’s all just calm down. Okay?” She asked, her eyes beseeching to all of them, hoping they would understand that she was doing her best to keep calm while a part of her simply wanted to scream and yell at the injustice of life. Turning her head to Willow she smiled thankfully. “Thank you for trying, I appreciate it.” She told her, hoping that she would understand that she had heard her yelling, standing up for both her in a way and Kathy. Turning to Angel she sighed. “You should have told her.” She told him honestly. “However you can’t change that…all you can do is wait until she gets here and then either you and me, or just you, or all of us, can talk to her.” She told him, turning her attention again, this time to Connor.
“I’m sorry I lied to you. I didn’t know who you were or else I would have told you straight up who I was.” She told him honestly. “I don’t go around giving my name as it’s not exactly the most common name there is and the rumor mill has been spreading for awhile so more than my fair share of vampires have found out who I was…something I didn’t want happening in the middle of a bar.” She told him with an apologetic smile. “Forgive me?”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Willow knew she was being a bit extreme to Angel, but she couldn’t help it she knew that it needed to be said. Plus if there is one thing she hates to see its someone being hurt, especially a child feelings being hurt. Even though she knew that deep down Kathy really wasn’t a child, she was in fact a vampire that had lived a long long time. But to Willow she was just a kid who to her will always be sweet little Kathy. She hoped that Buffy had gotten to her before she gotten to far, it would kill her if anything had happened to Kathy.
It wasn’t like Willow to just go off on Angel like this, it wasn’t something she usually did, That’s how you knew she was ticked off. The last time she even recalls raising her voice to Angel is when she got snippy with everyone for being hard on Buffy. She remembers word for word what she said, she had told Giles “you never let her do anything except work and patrol. And I know she's the Chosen One, but you're killing her with the pressure. I mean, she's sixteen going on forty” Before she told Angel “And you! I mean, you're gonna live forever. You don't have time for a cup of coffee?” But that’s Willow for you it drives her nuts when people are hard on her friends, like now Angel had crossed the line with what he did to Kathy. Lying to her when she had asked for the truth, after all Connor was her family she had the right to know. Plus it didn’t help the fact that he lied about it being with the woman that killed Kathy and turned her.
Willow quickly chimed in every time Angel had some kind of a come back, not really wanting to hear any excuse he had right now. “Angel all you did by not telling her is hurt her worse, I mean yeah she would have been upset when you told her but she wouldn’t be as hurt as she is now. And if you wanted to you should have just told her!” Willow said still raising her voice. She listen for a moment to what Angel was telling Connor about why he didn’t tell her, which did make sense but still didn’t change that fact that he should have told her. She could tell that Connor was upset about it by the way his put his hand in hers, she could tell that he wanted her to stop the yelling and fighting. “No Connor I’m sorry that I made you feel this way, none of us wanted you to stay away. This isn’t your fault at all, I just wish your dad wouldn’t have lied that’s all. I‘m sorry if I made you feel unwelcome.” She said giving Angel a look.
But she watched as Connor walked away making his way to the door, but it wasn’t long before Buffy was back stopping him from leaving. Which made her happy him leaving was the last thing she wanted, they all needed to talk and work this all out. But She knew that’s what Buffy was going to try and do, get everyone to calm down and talk about this. But Willow was also happy knowing that she had heard her tear into Angel, which was what she wanted. She had thanked the witch for trying even though she was staring to feel bad about it, for some reason she was all ready wanted to tell Angel she was sorry. She wasn’t much for fighting she hated it, especially when the yelling was directed to one of her friends.
Nothing was ever calm in their lives. It seemed that the only calm they all ever experienced was the calm before the storm. Which in reality wasn't quite calm at all. One was always on edge, waiting for something to go down and knowing it was coming. Angel had been feeling like this lately but hadn't thought that what would happen would be anything like this. In fact he'd more or less been expecting a big bad to appear. Or hell for someone to get hurt or something or another. But this, he hadn't been expecting. He hadn't seen his son in so long and when he finally did...the entire group went to shambles. In his life, he knew he shouldn't have felt surprised.
While he knew that he was alone, it didn't make the bitter sweet nature of the loneliness any better despite knowing that he full well deserved it. It wasn't the first time he'd been backed up against a corner and it certainly wouldn't be the last. Still...he couldn't help but be angry at himself, especially because he was the only person he could blame. He'd done this, no one else. Hearing the word sister breathe through Connor's lips made him want to pull a disappearing act. His voice was like venom. Though it wasn't towards Katheryn, but to his father. With a sigh, Angel turned to his son. "Yes...your...aunt" he breathed slowly, the words coming to a deafening halt as he realized how slightly odd it was. Katheryn, while as old as Angel himself, looked like a mere child. Thinking of her as a grown man's aunt was slightly awkward. Yet, he wished she were here nonetheless. If only he could have the family he so desperately wanted...
Though at the same time, knew he didn't deserve.
Arms crossed across his chest Angel leaned back onto the wall of the living room. It was just about the only space available that wasn't covered by furniture or some kind of decoration. The potentials had really taken a liking to decorating. Looking down to his shoes, it was several moments before he looked back up to meet Connor's eyes. Simply because...he didn't want to. However he eventually did, eyes pleading to at least give him a chance to explain. "Connor...there's something you should know. When I was first turned, I was a monster....I killed Katheryn. Or at least I thought I had. Your mother, Darla...she --- she came to Katheryn while I was elsewhere, and she turned her. Darla never told me. I only found out several months ago, and I haven't seen you since..." Angel's velvety voice drifted off into the distance as his eyes drifted back onto his shoes. The entire story was shameful, and he hated the fact that he'd had to tell it. Yet he felt it important not to keep anything else from his son, or anyone for that matter. The words had cut through his lips like a knife....painful and slow.
"Connor, wait" the vampire spoke, lifting himself off of the wall. However before he could go after his own son, Buffy did instead. It seemed that she'd been doing all the catching lately with his family. Perhaps it was better that way. As Buffy asked all of them to calm down, Angel simply raised his hands as if he wasn't going to do anything and went back over to the wall to lean against it. He might have been brooding, but it seemed appropriate in the current situation. Nodding to the slayer, he agreed to sitting down and talking to Katheryn. It wasn't a hard deal to make. It was the only thing he could think about right now.
Willow continued to rant to him again and this time, he didn't exactly feel like sitting back. In fact he was growing slightly agitated with the way she continued to berate him. As his head lifted, there was a certain darkness in his eyes. "I'm sorry Willow, are you a parent? Do you have siblings? Last time I checked, no. By the way, you've known Connor for awhile now and never told Buffy once. Kettle calling the pot black, don't you think?" With this he simply glared at her. Maybe he'd taken it too far, but she had as well. Nothing he said was going to be good enough for her. Despite what they all thought, Angel was no longer a pushover. He wasn't going to sit back and let the hypocrite tell him how to live his life, when she'd done the same damn thing.
As soon Buffy came up behind him and snagged his keys, he couldn't help the soft smile that crossed over his face; no matter how wry it was. "Hey! Tricksey…" While his voice sounded playfully 'put out', he understood the unspoken message. 'Stay. Talk it out. Please?' Each word, despite not passing her lips read in her eyes and he sighed softly before nodding. "Color me turned around."
The hand on his arm was a lifeline, and he couldn't help the soft smirk as his keys disappeared into her pocket. She had managed something Campus Police had never done before, and slightly admonished Connor played a good little gosling following beside her before sinking into a nearby wall. It was an odd mirrored reflection to his father, though Connor appeared at least oblivious of it.
Buffy commanded the room's attention and Connor couldn't help but be in more awe of her, impossibly so. A leader born and honed through sorrow, something the Lost Boy from Quor'thoth respected. Pretty Wendy bird, makes the best Mother… Losing himself to his thoughts for a heartbeat, his brow wrinkled up; brooding as his arms crossed over his chest. When Buffy mentioned everyone talking to Kathy, Connor found himself subconsciously nodding along. He owed her that, and he would be damned if he sulked away like a coward; despite that being his exact plan a few minutes ago.
Under the shame, he balked for a moment when Buffy apologized to him. "Please, don't Buffy. I understand. Forgiven and forgotten. I'm just glad I can tie in 'Cool Chick from the Bar' with 'Angel's Destined True Love'. It's pretty cool, in a small world kind of way." The crooked grin he gave her always made Connor's features younger, lighter. And a portion of the evening's pain seemed to slide off of him the longer he tried to weather out this social storm.
Before when Willow offered an apology to him, Connor couldn't help but have that same gobsmacked look her best friend had become accustomed to. He wanted to do something, say something now since he was staying. Especially after what she did without even knowing how important it was to him. She cared. This teeny, tiny, feisty, phenomenal cosmic power-wielding woman cared. About his pain, about making him feel uncomfortable; it was so incredibly foreign and it soothed another ache he didn't know still stung from Los Angeles.
They tried, bless them Gunn and Fred and Wes and Lorne tried… But this wasn't just 'Angel's son' they were placating, this was simply Willow being nice to Connor. No agenda, no manipulations. With his closed off attitude melting off of him, he gave her a soft smile as he unfolded his arms as his voice softened impossibly more. "It's alright Willow, you didn't do anything wrong. Please don't be sad. You didn't make me feel unwelcome. I promise. Alright? Don't feel guilty over me?"
While he was standing there, mulling over everything he couldn't help but slowly come to a few rationalizations. He has an aunt. A woman who despite her centuries was trapped in the body of a child. it had to be maddening. A type of hell no one deserved. It made sense, then, why she had such a child-like innocence about her. She needed it, to stay sane and to stay here without letting the demon destroy her from the inside out. While before Connor felt a protective and kinship pull to Kathy, he could feel his respect in her flood through his mind. To go through so much and to stay who you really were inside; that required strength he couldn't even hope to have. Oh Kathy, how do you do it?
It was Angel's words that Connor's irish blue eyes darkened violently. His words ground out, low and harsh. Not towards the vampire speaking but the subject of his words. He had to address them, now that he was staying here. Now that he could wrap his mind around it all. "You don't give that sniveling bitch that word… 'Mother' is sacred. 'Mother' is God in the eyes of a child. That heartless, soulless, manipulative leech was nothing more than a parasitic incubator. She spent the majority of her pregnancy trying to murder me before even giving me a chance to draw breath. Considering what she did to me and Kathy too… Don't you dare make her out to be anything other than a murderer. The only good thing about that monster is it's Dead. Thank God."
As the bile scorched up the back of his throat Connor took a deep breath, wrapping his arms back around his stomach tight once more. Trying to keep himself from shaking, from showing too much. As Willow started in on Angel again, Connor took the time to breath through his building rage, the white hot cruelty that could so easily get out of control. But when Angel lashed out in a way the O'Connor men seemed to do so apt to do, Connor came off the wall. Stepping up on the side of them both, his hands came out and up in the universal sign for 'cease fire'; both outstretched, palms up. Very much unarmed and asking for the pair to lay off the verbal back and forth for now.
"Whoa, okay you guys. I get that we're all riled up, but this can get out of hand if we don't stop now. You guys are friends, no sense fighting each other. And on a purely selfish note, a request? Please don't use me as a weapon… I've been there, and I'd like to avoid any Holtz related memories if that's alright with you. Okay?" Giving them both imploring looks, Connor slowly let his hands fall down to his sides. "Family shouldn't fight…"
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -She grinned and sent him a wink when he turned around and let her lead him back into the living room. She was glad that he didn't up a fight as she really didn't want to force him...though she would have. She doubted Angel would have been too happy with her for making his son do something that he didn't want to do, but she was in charge for the moment so he really didn't have much to say about it. It may have sounded a bit cocky for her to think that way but she knew that at the moment she had to be the strong one, rather than a weak little girl that a part of her was because of the situation.
She rolled her eyes at Connor, seeing more of his father in him now that she realized who he had reminded her of. Angel had never been one to like for her to apologize either and his crooked smile was one that she had seen on Angel only a hand full of times. The resemblance in that moment was startling and it made her stop for a moment before continuing on, hopefully no one noticed it. Hearing that she was Angel’s true love should have made her preen in happiness and yet for some reason it made her uncomfortable because she wasn’t sure if she believed that yet…so of course she did what she did best and covered up her true feelings with jokes. “Nah, I’m just the ex girlfriend who tends to tell him what to do.” She stated with a laugh, knowing that it probably sounded fake but not really knowing what else to say. “Not that he really ever listens but at least I try to tell him what to do…but he’s bigger than me so apparently that means he doesn’t have to listen.”
She loved Angel more than her very life but they still hadn’t figured things out between them since the whole Angelus thing and until they did she didn’t want to get her hopes up. “However I like the whole cool chick from the bar thing…maybe that should be my stage name should I ever go into the entertainment business.” She continued to ramble on before realizing she was making a complete ass out of herself and shutting up.
She groaned since before she could say anything else (though it was probably a good thing as she would have just kept rambling about stupid irrelevant stuff) when Angel told Connor bluntly what his mother had done to Kathy, turning her into a vampire without anyone’s knowledge. She was shocked at the malice in his voice when he spoke of Darla and silently agreed with him, though she knew that no matter what she said it wasn’t going to be the right thing so she kept her mouth shut. She doubted Angel would appreciate her saying any of the hundreds of things that she was thinking so she simply stood there, staring at the ground, knowing that she technically had no place in this conversation. This was technically between Angel and his family...but for some reason she felt compelled to stand still.
Her eyes were forced up when she heard the words coming from her best friend, her eyes widening at the fact that Willow blew up, yelling at Angel in a way that she had only ever heard her do once and she hadn't even heard her do it in person, she had only heard about it later. She was stunned into silence by the words that were spewing out of her mouth and while she wanted to chime in and calm her down, she could do nothing but stare as Angel apparently lost his cool. Hearing the words that he let loose cut her to the core because while she had just told him that she needed to talk to Kathy and such, he was right. She hadn't ever been a parent, never had a child, so why should she bother telling him what to do? She felt guilty but kept her mouth shut, knowing that while he wasn't talking to her, the words were still to her whether he realized them or not.
She unfortunately had to agree with his other statement, though she would have it out with Willow at a later date. Her best friend hadn't told her about the love of her life having a child with a woman that she had hated...and it was something that they would talk about when they were alone. She loved Willow, she was more like a sister than a friend, but she couldn't help but feel betrayed at this being kept from her. She had wondered when she had first found out if Angel had asked her not to divulge the information but from what he had just said she was guessing that it hadn't been his decision not to tell her.
She was grateful that Connor stepped in before she had to as he seemed to be a lot calmer than she would be. She watched as he stood in between the two, something that took a brave man as either one of them could do some serious damage. "He's right." She stated simply, though she didn't mean about the family thing. Again, Connor and Kathy were Angel's family...and Willow was a part of Buffy's. "Let's all take a deep breath, even for those of us who don't need to breath." She told them, throwing a joking look at Angel though she doubted he would find it humorous. "We'll deal with this and things will be fine. Now, I need a drink, does anyone else want anything?" She asked, hoping that something to hold and do with their hands would help the rising tension, at least until Kathy made her reappearance.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Willow felt ten times worse now going off on Angel, she could tell he really was upset with it all by the way he was talking to Connor. Which he should be for not telling Kathy, she was Connors Aunt after all which is kind of funny. She looks so young for being his Aunt, even though she really wasn’t that young. But still it just seems strange to Willow, but when are things ever really not Strange for them. She really hoped that Connor was ok she felt bad for him as he had ran out the door, she really hoped that her yelling at Angel didn’t make him want to leave that was the last thing she wanted. But as always Buffy was there pushing them to try and work this out, which she hopes will happen, eventually.
She thought it was sweet that Connor was telling Willow that it was all right and not to be sad. She was also happy that she didn’t make him feel unwelcome because she was really sacred that she had. “Thanks Connor that make me feel better knowing that I didn’t make you feel that way, and I will try to cheer up.” She said with a smile. Willow couldn’t believe what was said next, as Connor begin to go off on Angel next. It seemed like everyone was against him tonight, She couldn’t help but wonder what Buffy though about all this right now? She was sure that she knew he disserved it, but if she knew Buffy well enough and she did she knew that she had to feel bad for him.
Willow couldn’t believe the way Angel was being to her, but then again she knew it was coming she knew he was going to yell back at her. But she never would have though the vampire was going to take his words that far. The witch stood there trying not to get tears in her eyes, the last thing she needed was to look like someone that could dish it out but not take it. “look your right I don’t have any siblings and no I’m not a parent. But you know the gang and you have been like family to me, And I can tell you right now Angel I don’t lie to any of you. As for me not telling Buffy I though she all ready knew, I mean come on last I checked you too tell each other everything! I mean come on what is there about Buffy that you really don’t know!” Willow said turning to Buffy. “Look Buffy I’m sorry I though you knew, I wasn’t trying to keep anything from you I swear. You know that right?” She tired not to show her feelings for what he said to her, even though deep down what he said did hurt. She hated this fighting with him, its something they really don’t do they have always gotten along. Well except for what he did too her poor fish, but again not Angel. Connor was right they did need to quit fighting, it wasn’t getting them anywhere at all. All it had done is make Willow sad and feel bad for what she said to Angel. Shortly after he asked them to not fight anymore, she quickly turned and looked at the Vampire “I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to be that mean to you, I just didn’t like that you hurt poor Kathy that’s all. I cant take seeing her cry you know. He is right we are family and we shouldn’t fight. So again I’m sorry Angel, friends?” She asked waiting to see what he say.
She knew that Buffy was trying to kill all the tension in the room when she asked them all if they all wanted a drink. The witch quickly raised her hand. “Yes please.” She said with a big smile on her face.

After having already been yelled at about withholding the truth before, he'd come out with the true story of Katheryn. He'd wanted his son to be in the know after all and not be taken aback by anything this time. Laying everything out on the table, he anxiously brought his eyes up to meet his son's. When he did, he slightly wished that he hadn't. There was a darkness in Connor's eyes that he hadn't seen in quite some time. Quite frankly it surprised him. There was something so demonic coming from the boy right now. It was the same look that had been in his eyes before he'd dropped him in the coffin and left him in the sea to rot. Perhaps the truth wasn't always the best route to take..."Connor..." he said, moving forward again. Stepping closer to his son he got in so that he could speak quieter. Why he wasn't sure. "I'm not a fan of your mother either...and I probably have more hatred for her than any of us. But she sacrificed her life for yours. It may have been your soul that influenced her, but she died so that you could live. It was the only good thing shes ever done..." he spoke softly, trying not to upset the boy.
The looks that he got after snapping at Willow were quite surprised. Angel usually didn't take things as far as he just had. In fact he usually just stood back and took whatever was handed to him. Not today however. Today he was simply going to sit back and be a pushover. Any other day maybe. However he wasn't going to be berated by Willow when she had absolutely no idea what she was talking about. She hadn't ever been in this situation. She hadn't ever had a child, or siblings for that matter and had always been an only child. Not to mention the fact that she had kept something from Buffy just for the same reason he'd kept it from Katheryn; she hadn't wanted to hurt the slayer. Angel hadn't ever asked Willow not to say anything about Connor, not once. So the fact that she hadn't had been due to her own mind and her own decision. He'd probably just created a rift between the two but for right now he didn't exactly care.
Before the witch could fly back in on her broom Connor stepped between them. Luckily too because Angel was steaming slightly and it could have been kind of bad. At the comment about using Connor as a weapon he looked to his son with apologetic eyes. At the moment he didn't say anything but he hoped that Connor knew he hadn't meant to use him as a weapon. He was just....angry. When Buffy jokingly looked to him he simply stared at her. The vampire simply wasn't in the laughing mood at the moment. Although he could use a mug of blood he shook his head no to the slayer. He didn't want to leave Connor in here alone, and plus he just really wasn't in the mood to eat right now. He was a bit too riled up for that.
It wasn't long before Willow hopped back on her broom. Despite having been told by his lover and his son to calm down, he felt the anger rising again. He waited until she was completely finished and simply glared at her for a moment before clearing his throat. "You thought she already knew? That's one of the biggest lies I've ever heard. You were scared to tell her." This comment didn't come out as angry. His voice was back to his calm and soothing voice, though there was still a darkness present in his eyes. At Willow's offer of friendship he stared at her for a moment before turning to Buffy and completely ignoring her request. "A drink does sound good." Through gritted teeth, he then turned to Connor. "Do you want anything?" he asked, and then headed into the kitchen with Buffy. Opening the fridge he took out some blood and poured it into a mug. While it was in the microwave he simply leaned back against the counter and stood there silently. Yeah, he was still slightly annoyed.

When Angel yet again called that vampiric slut the word 'mother', Connor couldn't help his jaw from tensing. With hooded eyes, looking very much like his father in that moment, Connor calmly ground out his last words on the subject. "My mother is Colleen Reilly. Sweet woman, very Irish. makes the best shepherd's pie. And even though it's a thankless job she has always been there. Every tear, every stomach ache. Every heartbreak or joy, every triumph and failure. My Mother is an amazing woman who still burns like a lobster even under SPF 50. Darla didn't sacrifice herself for me. She had time with all of you, days at least, where you could have all pooled your collective brilliance together and thought of something. She killed herself. And suicide is one of the most selfish things in the world. It wasn't about me. It was about Her. Then again, wasn't everything she's ever done been about herself?"
His words weren't intended to be cruel to Angel, if anything they were gently spoken and pragmatic. "Something to drink would be amazing, Buffy. Need help?" He couldn't help but chuckle softly as his father moved to her aid just as he offered. It was fascinating how similar they were, yet with differing methods. As he passed, he gave Angel a nod and a half-smile before turning to Willow and gesturing towards a couch. "C'mon, Red. Let's get cozy for now." Making sure to give her plenty of room to be comfortable, Connor folded himself down onto the couch while tucking his ridiculously long legs out of the way as best as he could manage. There was something to be said about the lengths he went to to fold himself up and out of the way, only to find the most awkward positions comfortable.
Taking a deep breath, Connor tried to will his heartbeat down. There was so much adrenaline in the air, sparking against the inside of his nose to the point of him actually needing to wriggle it a bit to rid the scent from the forefront of his brain by stopping it at the source. It took a few moments, but by the time he was comfortable his senses had leveled out to only mild anxiousness. Still heads and shoulders above when he first arrived, which was still a victory in and of itself. Closing his eyes for a count of five, he opened them with a clear head and tried to actually take in his surroundings.
It was the trappings of a movie night, Harry Potter if the theming was an indication, that had a sliver of guilt push through his heart. "I completely interrupted Harry Potter didn't I?" Giving Willow a guilty smile, he shrugged before chewing on his lower lip in thought. "Think if I dress up like Tom Riddle and let Kathy beat on me all night she'll accept my apology? It always worked with my little sister. I even had to do the voices when I read them to her." Bashfully rubbing the back of his neck, he pressed on, truly opening up to the witch. "I'm pretty decent at Parseltongue if I do say so myself. On account of being a stupid smelly big brother, we're evil by nature. And therefore, clearly Slytherin spawn to be vanquished."
He was rambling, something that only happened when he was feeling particularly awkward. Taking a page out of his earlier years, Connor sat on his hands, tucking the long and currently mildly chilly digits under his thighs. It kept him from fidgeting, and made him at a severe disadvantage should things get tense and physical again. It was a conscious choice, to rely a subconscious messages. By deliberately putting himself behind and vulnerable, hopefully everyone else would feel more comfortable. "You guys are being really great to me Willow, it's… a lot more than I'm used to." Ending them with his trademark crooked grin.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -The blonde slayer bit her lip again when Angel started talking about Darla. She didn't have any idea what he was talking about when he said that Darla sacrificed her own life for his, nor did she honestly really want to know. In her eyes, Darla was nothing but a monster. She couldn't deny that she got along with Connor and could see the two of them being friends in the future, but that didn't mean that she had any respect for his birth mother. She knew nothing she could say would sound good so she kept her mouth shut, knowing that all she would do was add more tension. She didn’t want to make things worse than they already were and that’s what she was afraid of, hence her very unusual stance on keeping quiet.
She listened as Connor talked about his mother in such a passionate way and continued to deny Darla that right, and for a moment she felt this sense of pride wash through her…though she had no idea where it came from. She didn’t know this guy other than the brief hour or so they spent talking in a bar, so why she would be proud of him she didn’t know…but she figured it was because he was Angel’s son…and was proud for Angel. She figured she would decipher it later, much later.
The blonde slayer breathed a sigh of relief as Willow seemed to calm down. She could tell almost instantly that the red head felt bad, though she would probably never admit it. Unfortunately the fight didn't seem to end there as Willow had a comeback that didn't take long at all to uh...come back so to speak. She sighed when the red head turned to her and asked her if she believed her, and a part of her wanted to say yes, but a part of her wanted to say no...so she figured the truth would be the easiest thing to go with. Unfortunately before she could say anything Angel said it for her…however it was her best friend that had asked her so she held her hand up, signaling for Angel to let her take over. She wasn’t backing Angel up on his decisions because she didn’t agree with him, but she wouldn’t let Willow slither out of this one either. They had all made mistakes…and they were going to confront them now.
“We did tell each other everything, five years ago when he lived in Sunnydale. But when you found out, we hadn’t seen each other except for a brief hour or two here and there once or twice, in years…so saying that you thought we told each other everything, that’s not the whole truth. Angel and I haven’t been together since I was eighteen years old and even though Connor somehow aged pretty damn quickly, he wasn’t born then. Angel had no obligation to tell me so again, thinking that we told each other everything when we clearly didn’t at that time, is a lie. Will I didn’t know any of this until very recently, and the only reason I found out? Was because my enemy used it against me to hurt me. My best friend should have told me the minute she found out…and it hurts me that you didn’t.” She answered honestly, knowing that she was probably making Connor and Angel uncomfortable but knowing that she owed her best friend the truth she continued. “It never even occurred to me that you knew, because even after you found out that I knew, you never said anything about already knowing.”
Taking a deep breath she continued, knowing that if she stopped she would never start again. “If you were afraid to tell me I understand, but that doesn’t excuse it. I wouldn’t have reacted well to the news that Angel had a child with someone else…because you know more than anyone that that’s one thing that I wish more than anything that I could give him, but I can’t. However, hearing it from you, would have been a whole lot easier than hearing it from the worst enemy that I ever had.” She stated, not wanting to say the name Angelus because she had no idea if Connor knew about Angelus being around again in the not so distant past.
She nodded once at Angel before giving Connor a roll of her eyes in a playful way, letting him know that she apparently already had help, though it hadn’t been her intention.
Walking into the kitchen she waited for Angel to pull his blood out and she herself for three glasses. She moved around Angel in silence and went to the refrigerator and grabbed a bottle of vodka from the freezer, orange juice, and Pepsi, setting them down on the table and pulling out the ice trays before dumping them into a bowl. Figuring out how to carry everything was a bit more of a challenge but she had been without help for so long that she figured it out quickly, not giving Angel a chance to help her carry it. Putting the two liter of Pepsi under one arm and the bottle of orange juice under the other, she put the three plastic cups under her chin and carried the bowl of ice in one hand and the vodka in the other, waiting for Angel to walk past her as she could follow him in the living room. She figured this way if she dropped anything at least they both wouldn’t ruin their clothing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Willow listened as they talked about Connor’s mother, she wasn’t even going to put her two cents in on how she even felt about her. Willow all ready had enough enemies going on in this room as is, with Angel mad at her for going off him was enough. This night pretty much was ruined for the witch, she was just now waiting for bed so she could go cuddle with her baby. Which then had Willow wondering where is Tara? Right about now she really wishes she was here to back her up on all this, she really needed her baby in this moment. She didn’t like this fighting with Angel, the witch now wishes she just would have kept her mouth shut. But she was just so mad for what was going on with Kathy she couldn’t, just seeing the tears in her eyes killed Willow knowing how hurt she was.
She didn’t like the fact that he was calling her a liar, but maybe it did have some truth to it. Willow should have said something to Buffy no matter what, she should have never assumed that she just knew. After all they were best friends they talked about everything with each other, so she should have mention it the moment she found out no matter what. Bad mistake on the witches part she will have to live with.
This had gone from bad to worse, not only was Angel upset with her she now had her best friend hurt because of her. This really had turned bad for Willow. She finally spoke trying not to show she was upset, but with how shaky her voice sounded it was hard for her. “Look Angel you have to know there was a lot going on then. We were all taking on the first, I was still trying to tame my power from going dark, and on top of that was still trying to get over Tara which I’m sorry wasn’t easy for me. It still kills me everyday thinking about that bullet that killed her, I have nightmares about it. Nightmares about the bullet that killed her and almost killed my best friend. ” She then looked over at Buffy this time while she spoke to Angel, so they both knew what she was going to say. “But you are right I should have said something to her no matter what making sure she knew, and maybe deep down a part of me was scared because she was taking on so much then. Buffy had so much riding on her shoulders, you have no idea.”
Willow then walked closer over to Buffy. “I really am sorry I hope you can forgive me, I don’t know what I was thinking. I think Angel is right I was afraid” Willow said trying to hold back tears not wanting to cry, she hated showing she was weak. Willow didn’t want to speak about it anymore, she knew that later on Buffy and her would have a long chat about all this. Which they needed to anyway there had been a lot brought to the table on all this, but talking about here with Connor and Angel wasn’t the best idea.
Willow was done on all this fighting she pretty much just wanted to keep to herself now. So she took Connor up on his offer going over to the couch to sit with him, waiting for Buffy to come back with the drinks. Willow couldn’t help but smile when he said something about Interrupting Harry Potter night, which really was more a bummer more for little Kathy then anyone else. Which then made Willow hope that she was somewhere safe and ok, she knew the little vamp had to be sad with all this. She thought it was sweet all that Connor wanted to do to cheer her up. “Knowing Kathy she would like that, but I will give you fair warning the girl can pack a punch. I mean so I hear.” She said giggling with Connor. “ I wont lie though I’m interested to hear your Parseltongue.”
She was happy that he was enjoying himself, Connor really had been a sweet guest even though they all pretty much had done nothing but fight. ‘Well thanks I’m just sorry that things got crazy her tonight.” Finally not long after that Buffy had came back looking like she was going to drop something, it looked as though she came back with every beverage she could think of from fridge. Willow stormed off of the couch walking over to her. ’Oh god let me help you with that Buff.” She said trying to help the slayer with the drinks.
People thought that Angel was dark, but they hadn't a clue. Connor's level of intensity as he glared into his father's eyes couldn't be matched by anyone. Sometimes the boy looked up to him pridefully and joyful, just happy to finally be alright with his father. And then sometimes he looked up at him like this...like he could lock him in a coffin and drop it in the middle of the ocean. Oh, right...he's done that. Even scarier of a thought, that he could do it again. Clearly he wouldn't and Angel trusted his son now for the most part but sometimes, those eyes....they simply frightened him. And probably others. Perhaps it was because he was half-vampire, or simply because he'd had a really bad start to life. Either way he wished the boy's life could have been better regardless.
Blinking he found himself truly unable to gather any words at the moment. For some odd reason it made him kind of angry to listen to this. He was true in that Darla was a selfish person. However in that moment she hadn't been selfish at all. Quite selfless actually. His jaw tensing as well, he kept calm as he spoke against the boy. "I'm not going to argue about it, son" he spoke, emphasizing the son part of it with authority. "You weren't there. You weren't alive. You might not have lived...Darla, is your mother. She may not have raised you...may not be your mom, but she is your mother." His voice came matter-of-factly and with this he was done on the subject. The quick glare he gave his son told him that he was as well. Angel wasn't angry about it though, he simply wanted to keep the record straight. He didn't like Darla anymore than Connor did but everything he said was true.
Shit was hitting the fan everywhere. Next to him he heard Buffy scolding Willow for not having told him. That was his fault for the most part. Not the fact that Willow had done it, but the fact that it'd been brought up. Regardless though Angel knew Buffy very well. If it wasn't going to be said tonight it would have been said to the witch eventually. He knew her, and knew that it'd hurt her that her best friend hadn't ever told her. As she exclaims how she would give anything to give him a child....his eyes fall to the floor. It shames him that he can't give her the same thing, everyday. What he would give to be able to give her a normal life. Anything, everything, all things. Angel listens to the witch apologize but says nothing, only nods. He understood why she hadn't told Buffy and that was why he hadn't ever brought it up before this. However when she wanted to rag on him about doing the exact same thing it was game time. And he always, always won the game.
Thankful that Buffy hadn't dropped the Angelus bomb he stalked off into the kitchen behind her. Holding his mug of blood he reached out to attempt to help the blonde, but quickly retreated as he realized that if he took a bottle they'd all collapse. Seeing the vodka he raised his eyebrows to her but didn't say much. She was not much of a drinker and hadn't ever been, though he didn't mind, was just mildly surprised. Noticing Willow and Connor sitting on the couch together he simply leaned against the door frame leading into the kitchen. He wasn't much of a social gathering kind of person, and didn't feel like squeezing in next to Willow. He remained silent as he watched Buffy unload all of her goodies. Still fuming a bit from it all, he watched his son carefully to try and gauge how he was taking everything in.
When the drinks arrived, Connor figured it was the best option was to aim for the orange juice. While he knew the bite of vodka would take his now pounding headache away, his father would probably make a comment about the alcohol if he were to imbibe, despite not having a drop since Lehane-Gate. But he made sure that the ladies got something to drink first, the Reilly manners making it impossible for him to act less than chivalrous. While he loathed the lightly misogynistic tendencies of true chivalry, he couldn't help himself. Each father figure he had believed himself to be a good man with noble ideals; it was genetically engrained, aggressively trained, magically enforced. And it was damn well his own.
"If she'll look even a fraction as happy as she did before I came in the door, she can beat me till next Tuesday." When she giggled, Connor bowed his head, agreeing easily with the lady's demands. "Sure thing, Red. Once everything's calmed down and everyone's okay, I'll get my snake on…" A beat passed, before his brows furrowed and he moved to speak once before being able to get that words out. "…Wait… that didn't come out… right…" With a shake of his head to clear the awkward out of the air, Connor blushed slightly before rubbing the back of his neck.
This was it; the feeling he always had back home. True; there was some serious pain, but what family didn't have their pain? It would be too weird to have a Stepford life, especially after his more developmental Brimstone years. And while he still had Angel's words dancing along in his mind, Connor tried in vain to not let his temper rise up. There was something insidious about his anger, and he couldn't help but dislike that part of himself. It seemed as though the pair of them would never agree over the subject of Darla, and as far as he was concerned they never would. As long as he kept himself calm, kept himself under control then he could handle his dad bringing up the She-Bitch. After all, she was dust on the wind. And after getting one free ticket out of hell, there was little to no chance she'd get another Day Pass anytime soon.
It was eerie though, having Angel lurking and brooding. Idly, Connor wondered if he ever looked like that, and immediately he noticed his own brow had been pulled down love over his eyes for some time whilst deep in thought. Rubbing his face with both hands, he took a deep breath and sighed before feeling as though he could think straight. "So, what now?" It was all he could say, or do really. They needed a place to jump off from, a starting point that would be the basis of some kind of game plan.
Question was, what?
"I'm in this, one hundred percent. Just tell me where we should start."
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -She simply nodded when Willow apologized, not wanting to go into it anymore. "We'll finish this conversation later. This wasn't the point of this and I really don't want to continue talking about it right now. It's not Connor's fault and I don't want you to think it is." She stated, shooting the last comment to Connor with an apologetic smile before turning her attention back to Willow. "You and I can have it out later in a private setting where no one can hear the yelling and the things being thrown. Then afterward we can stuff our faces with ice cream and cry at some sappy movie before moving on. I'm hurt and confused and a bit angry and now is not the time for me to deal with all that, so let's agree to disagree at the moment and move on...or at least pause the conversation."
Once she was loaded down with drinks and followed Angel back into the room she overheard Connor’s last comment about letting Kathy beat him if he dressed up in a Tom Riddle costume she couldn’t help but let out a silent laugh, standing where she was to hear what Willow would say to it. Hearing her comment and then Connor’s statement about getting his snake on she couldn’t help but let out a loud laugh, alerting Connor and Willow that they were back in the room. She saw Willow stand up and try to come over to help her but she shook her head. “If I hand you something everything is going to drop.” She stated with a laugh. “I still have no idea how I’m going to set it all down.” She rolled her eyes, clearly not having thought her plan through well enough. “By the way Connor, I agree, I totally want to hear you ‘get your snake on’.” She stated, exaggerating the words with a wink.
Walking over to the couch she looked for a moment before her eyes lit up and she had an idea. Lifting her chin up she allowed the cups to fall on the couch, landing with a soft bounce. She then let her arms out a bit and allowed the Pepsi bottle to drop on the couch next to the bottle of orange juice. Neither which were glass and both dropped on the couch so luckily there was no mess. Once she was relieved of most of her burden she then turned around, placing the bowl of ice and the bottle of vodka on the coffee table before picking up the soda and the orange juice and placing them on the coffee table. Taking the three cups she filled when with ice before turning to the other two. "Okay the soda is going to have to wait until it's a bit less fizzy so it doesn't explode but does anyone know what else they want?" She asked, opening the Orange juice and pouring it over ice before opening the vodka and doing the same. She definitely needed a drink even though she had never been a big drinker.
Turning to Angel she motioned to the drinks. “I didn’t grab you a glass as I figured you were okay with blood but did you want a drink Mr. O’Connor?” She asked him, trying to keep the peace. “I mean you may need to be drunk to watch Harry Potter with us.” She stated with a smirk before shooting him a stage whisper. “Especially if Connor is going to play Voldemort for us.” She stated before smiling innocently at Connor, hoping that the pain in her eyes was masked. She would deal with it later when she was alone…for now she had to be the strong one.
Hearing Connor's question about what now she sighed, thinking it over for a brief moment before figuring the best course of action. "I am going to text message AJ and have him bring Kathy back if she wants to come back. She can make the choice what she wants to do. She can either hang out with us and talk, hang out with us and watch Harry Potter, or she can talk to whoever she wants. I'm going to leave it up to her." She stated before pulling out her phone and sending AJ a text message asking him to ask Kathy if she wanted to come home. "Does that sound like a plan to everyone else?" She asked, having no idea how much like a mom she just sounded.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was agreed Willow and Buffy would talk about this much later when it was just the two of them, now wasn’t the best time with Connor and Angel here. Because with Angel here it would make the fight even worse, she didn’t need a Slayer and a Vampire on her back. Her and Buffy had there ways of talking and working things out alone anyway, it come with them being friends for seven years. “Yeah talking later would be the best, I will try not to throw things though.” She said with a giggle. “But I really like the movie and ice cream part, it sounds like a plan to me.” That was the truth though with them, it was always yelling and scramming that turned to making up with fun girly stuff. Its just they have been friends for so long that they cant stand being mad at each other for very long. Willow feels the same way with Xander, she hated having to get mad at him for ripping the head off her Barbie. Even though it wasn’t very nice and he shouldn’t of done it, she still forgive him for it.
She really wished that Buffy would let her help carry the drinks, she was ether going to drop it all or make a mess. But then again she was this crafty to bring all that out here so she would think of something. She watched as the Slayer begin dropping the bottles on the couch, so she knew right then and there she wouldn’t be drinking that. She didn’t need to be making a soda mess in living room, she makes enough messes as is. Willow was thinking more like having some vodka and orange juice, she knew after the night she had it would really hit the spot. “Nice Buff I like how you found away to put it all down.”
It really was great that everyone was all trying to get along now, It really was all because of Connor he had done a good job at getting everyone’s spirits back up. Which was all what they needed right now after all the fighting, maybe even with them all calmed down Kathy would even come back. Willow really hoped that she would, after all she really was looking forward to this night more then anyone here. But she knew that if the little vamp came back she was going to want to go to bed after this night, but she couldn’t really blame her. She just hoped that she wouldn’t be mad at Connor after all he didn’t know it wasn’t his fault all this was going on.
Buffy said that she was going to send AJ a text, it seemed like she was going to try and have Kathy come back. But Willow knew she was not going to be a happy camper when she first came here, might as well give it a shot though sometimes its hard to know what mood she can be in. “Yeah it sounds like a plan to me, I just hope she wants to hang out with us after everything.” She said looking over at Angel. She hope that if Kathy did come back he would do everything in his power to talk and make up with her, so that way she wouldn’t be sad anymore.

atheryn 'Kathy' Anne O'Connor yawned. Her tears had finally stopped and now she was just left feeling exhausted in a way that she hadn’t been in years, probably since she was human. AJ kept asking her if she was alright and she simply nodded, not really knowing what she felt like. She knew that she had over reacted but she wasn’t happy about the situation and couldn’t muster up enough strength to put on a fake smile and pretend like she was. She wondered why no one had told her but then again she wasn’t sure if it would have made a difference had she been warned before. No, that was a lie. She knew that she might not have been very receptive to the idea that she had essentially no one in her life anymore that was just for her, but she knew that she would have at least been able to handle the situation far better than she had when she had been taken off guard. It wasn’t fair in her opinion that she had lived all these years looking for her brother, the one person in the world that she felt like she could trust, only to find out that he had moved on without another thought to her. Maybe those thoughts were selfish but she couldn’t help it. She heard a beeping noise going off and deduced that it was coming from AJ’s phone. She looked at him and sighed again when he gave her a sympathetic smile. AJ was never one to try and soothe ruffled feathers but she knew that she got to him in a way that not many did so she figured this was his good dead for the decade. “They want me to come home don’t they?” She asked and when she didn’t get an answer she looked up, seeing that he was holding out his phone. Reading Buffy’s text message she sighed and nodded, waiting as AJ turned around and drove her quickly back through the streets of Richmond. Once they pulled up to the house she leaned over, kissing his cheek with a smack. “Thanks.” She whispered before getting out, waving as she got to the porch and waited for him to pull away. Taking a very unnecessary breath she walked back into the house, walking quickly over to Buffy who was drinking something that smelled rather strong in the alcohol department. She quickly sat between Willow and Buffy, not really knowing what to say, though she knew she had to start somewhere. “I’m tired and I’m crabby. So here’s my plan. I plan on going down to my room, grabbing pajamas and then going to Buffy’s room where I’m stealing her bed.” She stated firmly, though shot the blond woman a questioning look to ask if that was alright. “You can either bunk with me, Willow or you can share a bed with Angel.” She stated softly before looking up and meeting the very similar eyes of her…nephew in some ways which was really weird. “You can take my room for the night. Most of the guest rooms are pretty girly so until we can fix one up you can take that one.” She stated, waiting to see if anyone would berate her for making decisions for everyone else.
