-------------------------- -------------------------- Jesse's eyes glanced at the gauge and let out a sigh. He was going to need gas a lot sooner than he thought apparently. Okay, let's hope it still holds out, he thought to himself. He didn't want to be stranded on the side of the road in a city that he had only been in a few times. Unfortunately, the trip into Richmond had been necessary. There had been some evidence that had been sent to a lab in the city and the results had just gotten back. Therefore, the trip had been necessary. And he had thought he had filled the gas tank up enough, but if the gauge in his car was any indication, he was heading towards empty. And if that was the case, that meant there was something wrong the gauge and that it needed to be looked at the next time he went to the mechanics. But surely the car could last just a little while longer. That was all he needed: just to stay moving for a little while longer. Come on, come on, come on...just a little longer, he thought to himself. He was halfway through Richmond, so yeah, he could last a little longer...hopefully. However, his hope was short-lived and he found himself in the middle of the road with a stopped car. Great. Just what I needed, he thought to himself. He had been certain that he had enough gas to get back to Mystic Falls, but he had obviously been wrong. Great, Jesse. Way to go, he thought to himself. He blew out a breath and pulled out his cell phone and then frowned when it indicated that there was no signal. Great. He would get stuck in the part of town that was a dead zone. I guess I'm going to have to hoof it, he thought to himself. Then, he gave himself a mental slap. He couldn't do that. He had to keep the chain of evidence. Well, at least his car wasn't one that people would be tempted to steal. It was just an average white sedan that he had had for a while. And honestly, it was a bit of a clunker, but it usually got him where he needed to go. And that was really all that mattered. Well, that and finding a gas station. And it wasn't like he could leave the car since he had the DNA analysis in the seat next to him. Great. I had to get stuck in a city that I'm not familiar with, he thought to himself. Well, there was no use in complaining about it as the only thing that he could do was try to figure out where a gas station was. He then reached into the glove box and pulled out a map of the area. Now where was that gas station? he wondered, perusing the paper. Hopefully, it wasn't too far of a walk. But with the way his day was going at the moment, he had his doubts. Well, at least it was a reasonably warm day which meant that he wouldn't get overheated in his white shirt, blue jeans, and black tennis shoes. Thank goodness for small favors, he thought to himself. Now he had just had to wait and see if anyone would show up. After the fight and the following make up with Maria, Michael had to get out of the apartment for awhile. It was ok, cause Maria had stuff to do. He really should be looking for a job to help Maria out, but for some reason he was being lazy about it. He was who he was, and being lazy was like a gift that he was the master of. Still getting a job in security for them, something he was use to, didn't seem like a bad idea. He heard about an opening for a security guard in Mystic Falls and had driven down there for the day to apply for it.
Maybe it wasn't glamorous, but it was a living and Maria deserved nice things. Michael was cold hearted sometimes, but when it came to Maria, some reason, well a lot of reasons, and he knew why, he always had a soft spot for her. Still anyone that dared to call him whipped had a whipping of their own coming. Michael was not whipped, well he probably was but he wouldn't admit it. So now driving down to Mystic Falls he began to get bored. He was on his motorcycle, he loved that thing and it was the one thing, other then Maria, that was his.
He wasn't looking forward to getting a new job, but he needed one, he also needed a new name and identity. He couldn't go by Michael Guerin, someone, somewhere would put the pieces together. So he came up with the name of Brian Michaels. He guessed it was fitting and not many people would be able to figure it out, soit would do for now. As Michael went down the road of his cycle he spotted a car parked on the side of the road up ahead. Great, his day just got a whole lot better. Then again, maybe he could just drive by and ignore it.
That was his plan, but he just stopped and looked into his rear view mirror back at the car. Just drive off, just drive off. For whatever reason, Michael couldn't bring himself to drive off, it was the middle of nowhere and he doubted the person got phone service and they were in trouble. Michael against his own wishes, not to mention better judgement, kicked the kickstand of his bike and got off it, taking his helmet off and setting it on the seat. Great, this should be tons of fun. Michael just wanted to be back with Maria right now, instead he was here.
He approached the stranded motorist cautiously. "Need some help?" Michael asked them, he just knew that at the end of the day he was gonna regret this decision, but he also knew that if Maria was with him, she would probably yell at him to stop and help the driver anyways, so he kind of had her in his mind at this moment. If she found out he just passed the motorist by without stopping, it would probably lead to another fight. So might as well bite the bullet and get it over with.

-------------------------- -------------------------- This was great. Just great. He had key evidence sitting in the car that Sheriff Forbes had said that they needed and he was stuck out in the middle of nowhere, which meant that the sheriff wouldn't be getting what she needed anytime soon. Well, that's just awesome, he thought to himself. This was not the best way to start a new career in a small town. Heck, it wasn't a good way to start a career anywhere. However, it wasn't like he could do anything about it. He grabbed his cell phone again and moved around a bit, hoping to find a spot that would pick up a signal. However, he had no such luck and he let out an exclamation of annoyance. Great. Just great. This wasn't how he wanted to spent his afternoon. Then again, who did? He let out a sigh as he dropped his phone into the front seat and returned his attention to the map he had taken out. Jesse was still looking at the map when heard the sound of an approaching engine. He looked up from the map to see someone parking their motorcycle and then approach him, taking off their helmet. The officer's eyes flickered slightly as he folded the map up and took in the newcomer's appearance: Caucasian, chestnut brown hair, and about six foot. When he asked if he needed some help, Jesse nodded. "Yeah, I was on my way home when it ran out of gas. I think the gauge is busted which is the last thing I needed," he answered. He couldn't put his finger on it, but something told him that there was more to this guy than met the eye. He didn't think he was a vampire---he just didn't get the same vibe he had gotten around Lexi and Chris---but there was definitely something different about him. He then gave himself a mental shake. What was he thinking? Was he going to mentally interrogate everyone he met? Come on Jesse, get a grip, he scolded himself. The guy was trying to do a good thing by helping him out and here he was mentally trying to figure out if he had any dark secrets. Yes, being somewhat suspicious of people came with the territory of being a cop, but he didn't have to act like a psycho-loony. It was more likely that the young man was just as he appeared to be: a good Samaritan. And he could use one. He honestly wouldn't have been surprised if it had actually taken hours before anyone had appeared on this road. But it would appear that fate was being kind to him today by providing him with someone who had been going down this road at the same time he was. And for that, he was grateful. He wasn't sure what he would've done if he had had to stay out here all day. He wouldn't have been happy about it that was for sure. But things hadn't worked out that way, so there was no point in dwelling on what if's. Nope. He was going to be happy that helped had arrived in record time and he'd take it. He then turned back to his car, popped the trunk, and then started rummaging around for a gas can. He supposed he should've done that earlier, but honestly, it hadn't occurred to him until just now. Now where did I put that thing? he wondered. It was fairly big so he should be seeing it, but on the other hand, he didn't always pack it in the car. Not finding what he was looking for, he unlocked the rest of the car. "Hey, could you check the backseat and see if there's a gas can there?" he asked. Helping someone else was not something Michael would normally do, but the thought of what if it was him needing the help entered his mind, on top of that, Maria's scolding voice that Michael was not a nice person for not helping, was in his mind. So a mix of guilt and wanting to do the right thing led to him stopping. The man seemed normal enough by appearance, but looks can be deceiving, just look no further then Michael to be able to figure that out. Michael looked like a normal enough guy, but underneath it all, he was anything but normal, and no one could ever tell.
"That's nice all the way out here." Michael said looking at the guy, thinking that for some reason the guy was profiling him or something. He must of been suspicious of him or something. What one driver couldn't help out another driver anymore? Michael was about to walk away, but the guys mood suddenly changed and he didn't seem to be questioning Michael's motives anymore. He wondered what this guys deal was as he went to the trunk to look for something, Michael just hopped it wasn't a shovel and the guy planned on burying Michael's body in the woods.
The thought barely crossed Michael's mind when the other guy asked him to look in the back seat. Michael nodded and began to look in the back seat for the gas can after opening the door. But he came up empty handed. He was about to turn to the guy and tell him that there was no gas can back there but he saw something on the front seat. It looked like some kind of evidence or something. Was this guy a cop or was he someone who stole evidence to cover up a crime that he committed, either way, cops meant government and the government was after Michael.
Not that Michael ever did anything wrong, other then being born that is, at least in the governments eyes. But Michael now suddenly helping out either a cop or a criminal on the run from the cops was not a good position for him to be in. He backed out of the back seat of the car and shut the door, deciding not to mention the evidence in the front seat of the car. "Nothing back there." He said to the man. He wasn't dead yet, so the guy had no plans of killing Michael, as Michael was wide open for an attack while he was in the back seat of the car. So that was a positive.
There were no approaching sirens, so he didn't call in backup yet. Maybe this guy was just a normal cop and this wasn't a trap and Michael was just being paranoid. "I'm Jason, by the way." Michael said to him, just in case using an alias he used in Arizona 6 months ago. Michael motioned to his bike. "There is a gas station a few miles away, I can go and see if they have a gas can and fill it up for you if you like." Michael offered, he was getting a bit low on gas himself and was gonna stop at the station anyways. Michael just wanted to get this over with as he was unsure if he should trust the man yet.

-------------------------- -------------------------- Jesse nodded in agreement as he said that it was nice that he had run out of gas out in the middle of nowhere. "Yeah, what a way to start a day, huh?" he asked. Certainly not my idea of a good time, he thought to himself. Then again, this probably wasn't the other guy's idea of a good time either. After all, for all this guy knew, Jesse could be a serial killer luring people out here. Which he wasn't. But he could understand the other man being cautious. And it was something that Jesse could respect. Heck, he was always cautious when meeting new people himself, so why shouldn't he expect the same thing from someone else? It was just good sense and to be perfectly honest, he would've been more worried if this guy had been too trusting. Not that he didn't trust people, but there was a fine line between trust and naivety. And he wasn't looking to be on the wrong side of that line. Nope. He was going to stick with his tendency to be suspicious of people until they proved that he didn't need to be. He wasn't sure what the other guy was thinking but at least he was willing to help him out and went to the back of his car only to report that there was nothing there. Jesse let out a curse. Great. Just perfect, he thought to himself with some irritation. This was not how he wanted to spent the rest of his day. He let out an exasperated groan. Okay, think Jesse, think! he told himself. He had no service and no gas. There had to be something he could do here. However, another check of his phone told him that the no signal had been picked up, even when he moved around a little. "Thanks for checking. Oh my friends would have a field day with this: the great planner, stuck with no gas," he griped. Yup. He had pulled a pretty boneheaded move if he did say so himself. He could only imagine what they would say to him. There would be teasing and other type of ribbing for sure. And who would be able to blame them? He couldn't. Not when he proved that he could pull some knuckle-head moves such as this. He then gave himself a mental shake as the man came back around the car and introduced himself as Jason. "Nice to meet you, Jason. I'm Jesse," he said, offering his hand for him to shake if he wanted to. He probably wouldn't, but he wouldn't hold it against him if he didn't. At Jason's offer of bringing back a gas can from a gas station that was a few miles away, Jesse nodded shot him a grateful smile. "Yeah, that'd be great, thanks," he said. "I was picking up some evidence for a case I'm working on and my boss will probably skin me alive if I don't get it to her soon," he explained. He wouldn't say what the evidence was or why it was needed. It wasn't his business, and this way the guy knew that---for him at least---time was somewhat of the essence. So yeah, any help this guy could give him was greatly appreciated. "Yeah, you should start some of the days like I have. Not a good time." Michael told him, especially the last 5 years, where everyday was horrible to wake up to, as the person he wanted to wake up with was not there. So yeah, this was a bad start to a day, but sometimes Michael didn't even feel like getting out of bed, now those were really bad days. The guy really didn't need to hear Michael's problems, so he turned his attention to figuring out how to help this guy get back to where he was going in the first place so Michael can apply for his job and get on the good side of Maria.
"You sound like my friend with the "Great planner" stuff." Michael said thinking about Isabel. She would never put herself in this situation, she was known as the Christmas Nazi for a reason after all. "Nice to meet you too, Jesse." Michael replied to him, feeling a little awkward that he gave him fake name. Michael had to protect himself and his friends, so he was warranted. He also felt awkward that he thought this guy might be an serial killer or something, as he had plenty of chances to kill Michael already and didn't act on it, so that was a bonus. Michael meant it a little that it was nice to meet him.
He shook the guys hand as it was offered to him, figuring what could it hurt. The man then agreed that it was the best plan for Michael to ride his motorcycle to get some gas for him while he waited here. Michael nodded at him, then the guy basically admitted that he was a cop. Michael now knew that his suspicions were correct. He was an officer of the law. "I see, well, I'm glad I wore my helmet today, wouldn't want to get a ticket." Michael said with a genuine smile, a rare Michael smile at that. He nodded again, understanding why it was so urgent that he get the evidence to where it needed to go.
Though Michael didn't like the fact that Jesse was a cop, he still decided to help him. Jesse wasn't after Michael, and Michael knew at least one cop that would appreciate the gesture on Michael's part back home in Roswell New Mexico. So all Michael had to do was pretend that this Jesse was just like Sheriff James Valenti. For all Michael knew, Jesse was like him, honest, brave, heroic, a great guy to have on your side. Still, he wasn't about to tell him that he was an alien from a distant planet that had special powers.
Michael waved bye at Jesse and went back to his bike, placing his helmet back on his head. He started the engine and drove off. The ride was uneventful enough as he got to the gas station. He walked in and looked down the aisles for a gas can. He was in luck and found a little 1 gallon one. It wouldn't last long, but it was enough to get Jesse to this gas station and feel it up. So Michael paid for the gas can and went out to pump the gas, feeling up his own tank first before feeling up the 1 gallon can. Paying for the gas he then drove back where he left Jesse about 15 minutes ago.
He got off his bike and walked over to Jesse with the gas can in hand. "Here you go, it should get you to the nearest gas station." He told him holding it out for Jesse to take.

-------------------------- -------------------------- Jesse listened as the guy said that he should start some of the days he had and that they hadn't been good times. "That bad, huh?" he sympathized. Yeah, that didn't sound really good, but he supposed everyone had days like the ones they were talking about. After all, it was just all a part of being human. Human. Sometimes being a human sucked. But then again, he wouldn't want to be a vampire as that came with its own set of problems. Like having to move around every few years so that people didn't start noticing that you didn't age. Yup, talk about something that could break up a family. He then laughed as Jason said that he sounded like a friend of his with the "Great Planner" stuff and that it was nice to meet him as well. "Let me guess, it's gotta be their way or no way, right?" he asked. Yeah, he had had some of those moments himself, but that was more of when he was a teen. He had chilled out as he grown older. Well, at least he liked to think he had. His friends weren't calling him "The Dictator" anymore, so he supposed that was progress. Because let's face it, no matter how big of a planner you were, at times, life just threw you a curve ball. After they shook hands, Jason made a joke, saying that he was glad he had worn a helmet as he wouldn't want to get a ticket. "Yeah, that wouldn't be a good first impression," he agreed with a grin. Then, he watched as the other younger man went back to his bike, put his helmet on his head, and took off. As he drove away, Jesse blew out a breath and glanced at his phone. Fat good you did me, he thought to himself. Nope. He wasn't too happy with his phone. But then again, he couldn't exactly blame it for his predicament. It wasn't like this was an episode of the Twilight Zone or the Outer Limits and the phone had lead him here or something. Or was that more like an episode of Tales From The Darkside? Okay, he was getting distracted. With a sigh, he got back in his car and turned on the radio. However, all he got was static as he flipped through the stations. He then shut off the radio with a sigh. Well, so much for that. It had been a long shot anyway. He hadn't really expected to get a radio signal out here when his phone was in a dead zone. But then again, sometimes radio signals differed from phone signals. Which apparently wasn't the case this time, but oh well. It wasn't like he could do anything about it. About fifteen minutes later, he heard the sound of the motorcycle engine, indicating that Jason was returning. The man parked his bike and then walked up to him, the gas can in hand. He handed it to him, saying that it should get him to the nearest gas station. "Thanks. I really appreciate it," he said, taking the can. "How much do I owe you?" he asked. He wasn't going to let the guy go away empty-handed---so to speak---as he knew that gas was pretty expensive and it wasn't fair to just take the guy's money. He was definitely going to pay him back. After all, fair was fair. The guy had most likely gone out of his way for him and he wanted to make sure that he was compensated. "Yeah. Is this the worst day you have ever had?" Michael asked, but he seriously doubt that this was the case. Michael didn't know about all the stuff out there. Vampires, werewolfs, those things were only in fairy tales to Michael right now. That didn't mean that Michael won't believe in them if he found out that they were real. He had to look no farther then himself to know that such things were not impossible, they were just really hard to spot. Michael nodded at Jesse's next question about them having to have it their way or no way at all.
Isabel was exactly like that in every way. "Yeah, remind me to introduce you to the Christmas Nazi sometime." Michael told him. Though Isabel tempered off a little in their last Christmas in Roswell together, she would forever be the Christmas Nazi in Michael's mind. Michael only called her that out of love, or at least his version of love anyways. Michael wished that it were as easy as finding an empty gas can to fill up and the day would be over, but clearly this Jesse guy didn't have that good of luck, and it was gonna be a little more difficult then that.
"Your welcome." Michael said, Michael wasn't the most polite of sorts, but he knew enough manners to say your welcome to someone when they thanked you for something. Jesse then asked how much he owed him. "A million dollars." Michael said, a little sarcasm in his voice to show that he was kidding. Michael just shrugged. "Don't worry about it, we are straight. Just don't let your tank run out again." Michael told him with a shrug. He really didn't want the money back and the gas can was cheap anyways, so it was really no big deal.
"So you work down in Mystic Falls?" Michael asked him, he had only been there once, but he knew it was a small little town that people liked to get attacked by animals in. He avoided it for the most part, until today when he decided to apply for the security job position that he read about in the want adds of the local paper. That should be fun, working in a town where animal attacks happen so often that you probably couldn't turn on the 7 o'clock news without seeing a story about it every night. It was odd, and Michael wondered if there wasn't more going on in Mystic Falls.

-------------------------- -------------------------- Jesse smiled a little as Michael agreed with him about it being one of those days, but then the smile faded as he asked if it was the worst day he had ever had. "No. The worst day I ever had was when I---I lost someone close to me," he answered truthfully. In a way, he had lost Mick after he transitioned. Oh, they had tried to stay close and everything but there was only so much he could do for his brother without risking his exposure. And he'd never do that to Mick. He was too important to him. He then laughed when the other man said to remind him to introduce him to someone he called "The Christmas Nazi". "That sounds fun," he joked as he wondered what would make this guy call his friend a "Christmas Nazi". Did they go overboard with decorations and trying to make sure everything that looked absolutely perfect or something? He couldn't even imagine having to deal with that during an already stressful time of year. Granted, it wasn't as bad as New Years, but there was always something about Christmas that just made people nuts. But maybe it was just him who thought that. Jesse nodded at the response to his thanks and then gave a scoff of laughter at his sarcastic response. "Not even if you compelled me," he said without even thinking. As soon as the words were out of his mouth, he froze. What had he just said? Way to go. Make him think you're a loony, he thought to himself. "Sorry. Family joke," he explained. He couldn't believe he had made a slip like that but he supposed that it made a little bit of sense as the sarcastic response had reminded the officer of something his brother would've said. He then refocused his attention his attention on Jason as he went on to say that they were cool but not let his tank get empty again. "Oh, I won't. I'm gonna get the gauge looked at as soon as I get back into Mystic Falls," he assured. He didn't want to break down like this again. Nope. Not at all. When Jason asked him if he worked in Mystic Falls, Jesse nodded. "Yeah I'm a deputy there. Just transferred in from New York," he replied. And he could readily admit, he preferred the small-town atmosphere to what things had been like in New York. It was just quieter, and more---cozy---for a lack of a better word. Okay granted, the town was crawling with vampires, but he didn't mind that. Surprisingly enough, he found vampires easier to deal with than some of the crooks he had had seen in in the city. "What about you? Do you work in Richmond or Mystic Falls?" he wondered. Michael hadn't really lost anyone that he didn't want to loose in the first place. There was Tess, but he was glad when she was gone, there was his foster father Hank, whom he wished had left his life sooner. He lost someone in the sense that he didn't see them again for a long, long time, but not permanently, maybe at the time of losing them it felt like it was gonna last forever, but eventually they found their ways back together. The closest person Michael had ever lost was Alex, but out of their entire group, Michael was the least close to Alex, so it hit everyone harder then him.
Michael has really only had a few really good days of his life to begin with. Everyday felt like a bad day for him. Michael nodded his understanding, never good with sentiments like how to make someone feel better when they were upset. "Its fun to hinder her and piss her off." Michael told him truthfully, maybe living with the Christmas Nazi wasn't the most fun one could have every christmas, but getting in her way and hindering her perfect holidays, was always a good time in Michael's book. Not that he didn't love Isabel, but watching her pissed off is one of his favorite past times.
"Can't blame a guy for trying." Michael responded, it would be nice for a million dollars to fall in his lap, and it would probably make Maria happy to have money to spare, but it wasn't gonna happen, unless he robbed a bank, but he wouldn't do that. He wondered what he meant about compel, sounded like a magicians trick or something. Michael believed in a lot, he was living proof, but magic being real? That was far fetched in his mind. "Its ok." Michael responded, not sure why Jesse was explaining it to him in the first place, magic was impossible, wasn't it?
"That's good to know, I'm glad I don't have to write you a fix it ticket." Michael responded. Jesse said he was gonna get it fixed and that was all that mattered. Jesse then explained that he just transferred in from New York City. Michael had never been to New York, but Michael and Tess went there once upon a time, his other self was also from New York, but that was a long story. "That must be a big change, going from a large city to a small town." Michael replied. Michael was use to small town life, living in what would be small town USA if it hadn't been UFO capital of america, Roswell.
"I live in Richmond with my girlfriend of 7 years and I am applying for a job as a guard down in Mystic Falls." Michael responded to his question. "There sure are a lot of animal attacks in Mystic Falls." Michael said, making it sound like an off hand comment, but he really wanted to know why, what was doing it, if he was gonna work down there, then he wanted to know what he might have to fight off and stop from killing him or someone else while he could stop it from happening.

-------------------------- -------------------------- Jason didn't really say anything after Jesse confessed that he had once lost someone, so Jesse figured that he either didn't know what to say or he was thinking about someone he had lost. "Hey, uh, sorry if I brought up bad memories," he apologized. That hadn't been his intent at all. Then again, you never knew what could trigger a person's memory as it was different for everybody. And it looked like he may have inadvertently hit on Jason's trigger. He then laughed as the other man said it was fun to hinder and piss his friend off. "Yeah, it's good to be able to do that with your friends. Because you're the only one who can get away with it," he stated. Yeah, he had a friendship like that with a girl he had dated back in high school---Kendra Mehan. It hadn't really worked out between them, but they had become good friends even though they had still had a tendency to fight like cats and dogs. "Well, to an extent," he added as an afterthought. When you were close with someone, you could get away with more, but even that had a limit. He chuckled again as the other man said that he couldn't blame a guy for trying. "Yeah, i know. It'd be nice, wouldn't it?" he agreed. Man, if he had a million dollars, he could invest in a first-rate database at work. But then again, it'd probably gain him a lot of attention, so maybe this was for the best. As it was, no one else in the Mystic Falls Sheriff's Department knew about the database he had created for the Supernatural. And if he had anything to say about it, they never would. That database was for his eyes only. It was his way of keeping an eye on his brother and now Caroline. Yes, he had added her to the database. Not that there was a whole lot to add. This wasn't like back in New York where he had made some contacts with a few of the vampires. It didn't matter though. He'd add what information he got as he came across it and then protect it with all his might. That world and all of its secrets would die with him if it became necessary. He gave himself a mental shake as Jason said that his slip was okay, though he seemed confused about what he had said. Not that he could really blame him as most people didn't know what compelling a person meant. He did though. He let out another chuckle as his companion said that it was good that he was going to get the gauge fixed as it meant that he didn't have to write him a Fix-It Ticket. "That'd be a switch, huh?" he asked. And it would be. Imagine a motorist giving a cop a ticket of any sort. It was rather humorous. Or maybe that was just him. Yeah, it was probably just him. He had always had a weird sense of humor. He then nodded at the comment that it must've been a big change going from a big city to a small town. "Yeah, it is. But I rather like it. Not as much stress," he responded. Which was sort of true. He didn't have to worry about a large number of cases, but he still had to put all his effort into the cases that he did have. Not that he had thought he could slack off in a small-town, especially not in one that he heard that strange stuff was happening in. Jesse then listened with some interest as Jason stated that he was living in Richmond with his girlfriend of seven years and that he was thinking of applying for a job as a guard down in Mystic Falls. "Oh, that's great. We could always use the extra help," he said. Of course, if a guy didn't know about vampires, he'd probably be confused about the secrecy of the town. Of course, Jason could be like him, knowing more than he let on. And if that was the case, he wouldn't blow his cover. At the casual mention of animal attacks, the officer quirked an eyebrow at him. Well, he was obviously fishing. He recognized the off-hand tone he had used. "Yeah, we've had some wild animals around. I think some more of their turf's been encroached on or somethin'," he answered with a shrug. More like a couple of vampires had gone off the deep end for some reason. Not that he had been in on that particular problem, but if you knew where to listen, you found out stuff. "Sheriff Forbes is working on it and should be handled pretty quickly," he assured. At least, he hoped it would be... Word Count: 805. "It doesn't matter. I lost someone a few years ago and didn't think I would ever find them again, but recently I did." Michael told Jesse. Jesse didn't upset him in the least, it took a lot, really a ton to get Michael upset, usually it had to do with the fact he never really had a family or when it came to Maria. Other stuff just didn't phase him as much as it should. "It's a long story, don't ask." Michael told him, not wanting to get into his past of being an alien and how he lost Maria and just recently found her again, or how he lost Alex and he was never coming back.
"Oh she didn't let me get away with it most of the time." Michael said thinking of Isabel, she really was like a sister to him, and if he did try to mess up her holiday plans, she would never forgive him for it, so, in reality, even Michael, one of her best friends, didn't get away with anything. It was ok though, as they all had their own little quirks, and being a nazi during christmas was one of Isabel's and they knew it all to well by now. "So you have any nicknames?" Michael asked him, curious what people call him if he was as big of a control freak as Isabel.
"Yeah it would of." Michael replied, he too found the joke in what he said about the fix-it ticket. A cop getting one from a normal Joe, or normal to everyone on the outside anyways. I get that, I grew up pretty much in a small town and moved here, which is another small town. I once almost went to New York with my best friend and a lady friend of his at the time, but I thought it was a stupid trip, turns out I was right and ended up being happy that I didn't go." Michael said, Jesse probably didn't want Michael's life story, but it was relevant to the conversation.
"Yeah, I was a guard for a few years for a medical corporation, so I have experience. My girlfriend deserves a non lazy layabout boyfriend. At least I don't drink alcohol." Michael said matter of factly. He wasn't the worst boyfriend in the world, but still, he wasn't nearly the best. He nodded. "What kind of animal would do stuff like this? I mean, even wolves aren't that territorial." Michael asked, he was trying to sound like just an outsider wanting to know more about the area, which was true, but he wanted to know more about the possible dangers, especially if he and Maria planned on staying here.
"Sheriff Forbes?" Michael asked him. "Is that your boss? I think my girlfriend said something about going to visit a Forbes in Mystic Falls today. Couldn't be more then one family with that name in such a small town." Michael said, it was a weird coincidence that Maria had at least mentioned The Sheriff's last name, and now Michael running into one of the people who work for them, it was odd, and it was either cause it was such a small close community, or something evil was a foot and they were all in danger, he just hoped it was the first one.

-------------------------- -------------------------- Jesse's eyes flickered and he looked at Jason as he stated that he had lost someone a few years back and had found them again even though he hadn't thought that he would. What does that mean? he wondered and was about to ask when the other man told him not to ask as it was a long story. Yeah, okay. I just used that one myself, he thought to himself. "Okay," he agreed with a nod. His past was certainly none of his business and he wanted to keep it private, he had every right to. Hey, he'd want people to cut him some slack, so he'd do the same for Jason. He then smirked as the other man said his friend hadn't really let him get away with pissing her off. "Ah, a tough chick, huh?" he queried with a small chuckle. Yup, he was liking this girl already and he had never met her. What could he say? He liked people with spunk. At the question of whether or not he had any nicknames, Jesse shook his head. "None that are worth repeating," he responded. Well, there was the period where some of the other officers in his precinct had called him "Crash" because he totalled three patrol cars assigned to him, but that wasn't exactly a common nickname these days. But yeah, time to move on. His grin grew as the other man agreed that it would've been a switch if he had given the officer a ticket. "If that ever happened, I'd think I was in a Twilight Zone episode," he declared. He then listened as the other man said that he had grown up in a small town and had moved to Mystic Falls which was another small town, though he had almost gone to New York with a couple of friends, but had felt that it was stupid and had stayed home. "New York's not for everyone, that's for sure," he agreed. Jesse found himself listening intently as Jason explained that he had been a guard for a few years at a medical corporation and that his girlfriend deserved to have a hardworking boyfriend and he at least didn't drink alcohol. "Bad experience with it?" he questioned. He himself didn't have any problems with the occasional drink, but he knew that some people chose to stay away from it from one reason or another. At the question of what kind of animal would be attacking people as even wolves weren't very territorial, Jesse gave a shrug, though he hesitated before answering. "To be honest, I'm not too sure. I'm not real versed in small town animals," he responded. Well, that was true enough. So at least he hadn't totally lied. But he also couldn't say that the attacks were committed by vampires. The guy would think that he was nuts! And apparently, the sheriff's name struck a cord with Jason as he said that his girlfriend was going to meet someone with the same name, adding that there couldn't be more than one family with the name since it was a small town. "Her daughter, Caroline," he said. "And yeah, Sheriff Forbes is my boss," he responded, giving the man a new glance as he tensed up somewhat. Apparently he didn't much like cops. Or maybe he had just had a bad experience with them growing up. Not every officer on the force obeyed the law. And Jesse had to admit, he wasn't fond of those kind of officers either. Word Count: 587. Oh thank goodnes. He was relatively quiet tonight. Outfit: Described in first thread Tag: Michael Note: No comment. And I didn't really wanna say he had any major nicknames since I hadn't written that in his app and didn't want to create inconsistancies. --------------------------

Michael was glad that Jesse did ask for the full story as for one, he couldn't tell if if he wanted too, how do you tell someone you were, or are on the run from the FBI without sounding guilty of something? And for two, it was Michael's own personal story and he didn't know Jesse well enough to even entertain the idea of telling him the full story about how he lost Maria, how he thought he would never see her again and that recently fate brought him and her back together. That wasn't something yo shared with an almost near stranger on the side of the road.
"The toughest, tougher then most guys I know." Michael told him. Isabel really was something else, she could be soft and sweet and like an older sister one minute, and then the next, she could be ripping your head off over whatever it was that you did wrong, and since Michael supposedly did a lot wrong back then, he was often the focus of her fury. Michael just nodded, she was a pretty cool chick as Jesse put it, despite turning into Bridezilla when she married just and despite Christmas Nazi Isabel, she was one of his best friends and he wouldn't have it any other way.
He nodded when he said he didn't have any nicknames. "I will give you one then..." Michael said before he started thinking to himself. "Broken Gas Gage Cop." Michael said with a chuckle. It rolled off the tongue at least. Michael seemed satisfied with is even if it wasn't very original. "Yeah, I have a... cousin who was born in New York. He... isn't a good person." Michael said to him, speaking of his other self, the less responsible one if that was at all possible. His brief time spent with his... cousin, told Michael that if people thought Michael was bad, they should meet him.
"Lets just say it hurts me more then it hurts other people when I drink." Michael told him, that was the worst night of his life. At least Max became a fun drunk when he had a sip, Michael felt like his body was gonna explode. It was by far the most pain he had ever been in and he doesn't want to go through it again. "No one likes me when I am drunk, as opposed to the handful of people that like me when I am sober." Michael said with a smile, his friends were loyal despite all the mistakes he made back then, they never gave up on him, and he was secretly thankful for that.
"I think that is the name she said." Michael said, Michael had never met this Caroline or this Sheriff Forbes, but if Maria trusted them, they couldn't be bad. Realizing he was probably over reacting to the odd coincidence he relaxed a little bit, he would have to ask Maria later if she thinks anything is odd about Caroline or her mother. Michael was cautious of everyone that wasn't in his close group of friends, and he figured, after years on the run for no good reason, after all the stuff they went through in Roswell, he had ever right to be.

-------------------------- -------------------------- Jesse smiled as Jason stated that his friend was tough, adding that she was tougher than most guys. "And those are the ones that you gotta watch out for. Growing up, there was this girl in my neighborhood---Ronnie Donato---could totally hit like a guy," he stated. And yes, he was speaking from experience. Not that he and Ronnie had been enemies or anything like that, but she was one out-spoken girl which had led to some feisty arguments and she liked to prove her point with her fist. Which was why he---or anyone else---didn't really debate with her over issues. They just let her say her piece. Maybe he was a wuss, but he preferred that reputation than having to explain to his inner circle about a black eye. Of course, if you ever just said "Ronnie", everyone knew exactly what had happened. And here he was making it seem like Ronnie was a grade-A bitch when she wasn't. She was actually pretty sweet, but you had to get to know her to see that. And that was usually the hard part: getting to know her. Okay, he was getting totally distracted here. He then grinned at the name. It was accurate, even though it was long. "That's a mouthful," he said. "Let's say we shorten it to BGGC," he suggested. Wow. That sounds like it could be a government agency, he thought to himself. Well, as long as no one asked what it stood for, he supposed. Then again, maybe that was just him. Noticing the other man's grimace---and his careful wording---when he mentioned a cousin in New York that wasn't exactly a good person, Jesse had a feeling that something was up. However, he wasn't going to say anything. He could understand the necessity of keeping things secret better than anybody. "Let me guess. You don't get along," he deadpanned. Well, he had to say something and that seemed to be just as good as anything. Jesse then made an "Ah" noise when Jason said that drinking tended to hurt him more than other people when he was drunk, and that no one really liked him when he was intoxicated, though there were only a a small handful of people who even liked him when he was sober. "Oh, a real bad ass, huh?" he queried casually, but mocking or accusing as he was merely curious as to how Jason would describe himself after hearing Jesse's assumptions. Hopefully, he wouldn't take it as an insult because that wasn't how he meant it to sound, but if he did, he'd apologize. When Jason said that he thought "Caroline" was the name his girlfriend had mentioned, Jesse nodded. It probably had been and if they were going to Mystic Falls, he'd probably be seeing them more as it was a small town and it wasn't like there were a lot of places to hide in a small town. Or maybe there were. He had no idea. Then again, he supposed that wasn't really the point. No, the point was that Jason's girlfriend had probably met Caroline. "Well, if Caroline is the girl your girlfriend mentioned---and I'm pretty sure she is---I've met her and she's a nice girl," he said. Okay, so she just happened to be a vampire. It didn't mean that she was a blood-sucking fiend. It just meant that she way up in the food chain. Okay, that was a weird way to put it. Then again, given who his brother was, maybe it wasn't.
