------------------ ------------------ Well that was a good night. Annie had found a nest of sorts and she managed to bomb the heck out of it. What vampires did not die, she was able to kill as they fled. Of course a few got away, but most would never see life again. They were gone, and Richmond was one step closer to being safe. Anyway. The sun was rising now, so if any vampire was still in the burning building, well they would die no matter what. They could die in the fire, or by sun. She'd allow them to pick whatever they wanted. Feeling satisfied with herself she picked up her torn up old bag, that was held together with duck tape of all things. And off she went. the blaze behind her.
She was pretty sure someone in the neighborhood would drive by the old building and call the fire department. But by the time they got here, she'd be long gone, and any evidence on what was going on would be destroyed. So that was that. She half wondered what time it was, the sun was just about up, so it had to be past 5am. No wonder she was getting so sleepy. At least no one would really bother her. People her age would be out and about heading to school about this time.. right? Annie always liked mornings better, people generally left her alone at this hour. Now when she was out at 9 or 10 at night, people seemed to follow her and ask unnecessary questions.
At least she had the cover of going to school. Gosh she hoped it was a school day. Annie has never once attended school, at least not official public school. She never really got the point of it, when you had parents to teach you everything you needed to know. Also there were books, Annie was a big reader, she did not need tests and exams to know something. Lucky her parents kept her far from the public school system, it was all home schooling, of course not following state protocol, but Annie was doing just fine on her own.
Annie was dressed in a simple pair of black soffes, with an old worn down hoddie that had clearly seen better days. Her feet were covered in a nice pair of running shoes. She had little ear buds in her ears, her music blasting it's way out. Here she was cut off from the world. Her hair pulled up in a bun, her face shinny from her workout minutes ago. At least the walk further into town would cool her off a bit. Her job was done, she could relax.
But it was still too early for her to go to her temporary home. She did not want to wake anyone up, so she'd wait until everyone in the house was up and about before she'd get home and sleep her days away. But until then she figured she'd get herself a coffee. She needed to stay away, and though the warmth from the sun would surly help her stay awake, a little extra kick would do the trick.
She almost felt naked in her current outfit. The straps on her legs stood empty, free from their normal weapons. She could not walk down the public street covered in her normal, she had to blend in. This was blending. Of course her old worn backpack kind of gave something away. but it kept what she needed hidden hidden.
The walk was uneventful. She was able to cool down, though it was clear she just came from some kind of workout. Which might look odd to some people. A 14 year old by herself at this hour, all sweaty and tired, walking into a Coffee shop. Not the normal, but Annabeth thought she was blending. She felt like she was.
With a small sigh she went to stand in the line. Stupid mornings. She really should skip the coffee. If she was going to get home and sleep, well coffee would only delay the process. Then again, she still had a couple hours to spare. She had no rules placed upon her at this house. But she was trying to be respectful. She was trying not to abuse the freedom she had here. It was just easy where she was. Hotels got complicated and the cops often got called. So this was just better in general. ------------------

----------------------- ----------------------- Cordelia had, had a really good date with Benny and she was happier than ever. She was glad she went to the cemetery to confront Buffy and try and talk about things that involved Angel even though they hadn't talked about it...but whatever she'd get to it at some point just not now. Cordelia was going to have the day to herself which meant totally spoiling herself with a frappuccino and getting a pedicure because god knows she needs one. Her fingernails were seriously not okay and she needed them to be attended to stat. She thought she'd stop by the Richmond Cafe first to get herself the frappuccino and a muffin before she went to the spa. Then again it was breakfast time so maybe she should get something more filling, yeah, she'd get herself a bagel, those were pretty filling or maybe some yogurt, she wasn't too sure yet.
The brunette called a cab because she was so not walking, she didn't have the energy to walk all the way to town. So, it was really early in the morning but Cordelia figured it'd be way better to do the spa in the morning so then she could take a nap or just rest her eyes when they did her toes and when she got a mud bath. Yes, this girl saved forever just to get the good deal at the spa she made sure she had enough. She needed something to wake her up but she was not in the mood for a coffee so frappuccino would definitely work even though there wasn't a lot of caffeine, if she wanted something after her first drink then she'd get it but for now she was fine. She finally made it to the cafe and paid the cab driver and then went inside. She was pretty happy right now, just how this week was going, she had hoped that today would be good just like the other days.
There wasn't much of a lineup but there were a few people. Who seriously wanted to be up this early though? Well, there was Cordelia but still she was going to a spa so she had an excuse but what about everybody else. She stood behind a girl who didn't seem to be old enough to even be out this early...and she looked like a teenager so that was odd. What teenager would want to be up? Shouldn't they be sleeping in or something? She looked the girl up and down wondering what the hell she was doing at the cafe. Shouldn't see be at home tucked in bed or whatever? Or like talking on the phone, then again it was way to early to be talking on the phone but what about the internet? She teenagers loved the internet.
"Um...are you like okay? I mean you're in a cafe at 6:30 in the morning...that's pretty weird," she said bluntly. Cordelia was nothing but honest and the girl didn't really have anything blocking her from what she had to say. "And why are you so sweaty and gross...," she said kind of giving the girl a weird face and scrunching up her nose. "Oh! You're turn to order," she wanted to get her drink so she just informed the little girl to make this line go quicker. Maybe it was random of Cordelia to talk to the girl and maybe it was stupid to be asking her so many questions, the girl didn't seem like she wanted to talk to anyone but whatever, with what she was wearing she'd definitely need Cordelia's help in the fashion world including that hair of hers. It was in a bun so it wasn't too but come on she needed help with that as well. Looks like it was the teenager's lucky day, she had met someone who was the best with this kind of stuff.
Cordelia obviously didn't know how to talk to teenagers so her questions were probably annoying but she didn't care, she was going to help this girl. She wondered where her parents were and if they let her out of the house. Oh my god! What if this girl was one of those teenagers who thought they were rebels and bad ass just by sneaking out? Now that seemed like hell to deal with. Cordelia was just making assumptions right now for some reason and she didn't know why but it was kind of fun assuming.

------------------ ------------------ UGH! This line was going to be the death of her. Annie was not at all a patient person. So standing in this line for more then 30 seconds, got her blood boiling. She was really starting to get fidgety. She kept shifting her weight from one foot to the other, then back again. She would craning her neck looking around the short line to see what was taking so long. Not that she was waiting long at all. She even put her hair up, then let it down, before putting it up again. She just wanted to get her coffee, take a seat for a minute, cool down. Then get on her way. Her feet hurt, her body hurt. She was tired, and a bit upset. She had things to do, shoot it was getting dangerously close to her bed time.
There was a small voice from behind her. Annie knew it was directed at her. They ALWAYS were, especially when it was a female talking. Annie could not help but roll her eyes, as she turned her full attention onto the women waiting in line behind her. Annie looked a little annoyed, irritated even. She crossed her arms over her chest, and just looked at the women with a bit of an attitude. Yes even her look had an attitude. "I got to go to school don't I." She asked. Hoping to god it was a weekend, and school was still in session. She really needed to keep up with the times. What was the date anyway? She'd look extra dumb if it was a Saturday. She could always use the excuse of summer school.... but on a weekend? Well she'd figure something out. Annie always did.
"Like it's any of your business what I do." Annie said, giving the women a once over, before turning with a huff. Yeah. Annie was rude, yes she was guarded, but she had to be. She was a 14 year old girl living on her own. When she turned the lady at the counter asked what she wanted. "Coffee, black. Biggest you got." Was all Annie said before handing over enough money to cover her drink, putting the change in the tip jar. Annie moved aside to wait for her drink. Stupid people trying to look out for her and what not. She was fine on her own. Did she look like some scared little girl looking for her mommy? Nope. Annie was strong an confident. Anyway, was it wrong for someone annie's age to work out? That's what she called it when she went a hunting. She was just working out. It was a work out, so it's not like she was fibbing.
Annie kept a close eye on the women, who was behind her in line. Last thing Annie needed was a shadow. It was odd how often that happened. A lot of women would take it upon themselves to just follow her around. Make sure she's safe. But not today. No. Annie was to tired for all this. She was already pretty irritated, just by having to wait in a short line. So Annie would have to make herself learn a quick lesion in self control, before she did something she regretted. At least all her weapons were packed away. Or most of them were. There were a few up her sleeves and attached to her stomach and back. But the ones on her legs were packed away, only the empty holders could be seen. But she'd of course play them off as a place to hold her weights. She always used working out as a cover, and school as a lie. It worked. If only people left her alone. Gosh she could not wait until she was older, legal. Then people would just step off her. She was just a young girl getting coffee. Kids drink coffee all the time now... right? Did the drink it black? Doubtful. But what did Annie know?

----------------------- ----------------------- Okay, Cordelia wasn't the biggest morning person, she loved to sleep in so being up this early? Not a fun time at all. She was hoping that the frappuccino she was about to get would wake her up at least a little and if not then she'd just give in and get coffee. She was fine with drinking coffee but she didn't want it to stain her teeth, she already had perfect teeth so why ruin them with coffee? She had been drinking coffee for a while, well not really since she was dead but when she was in L.A. she would have it every day and nothing really happened to her teeth so maybe she as overreacting just a bit.
This, girl had some sass to her which Cordelia liked but it was also kind of annoying. It was as if the girl was acting like it as a big deal. "Hey, wait a minute...it's the weekend," she checked her phone to see just in case. "You do realize it's a Saturday...so clearly there's something wrong with you since every other teenager is asleep right now," she couldn't believe the girl was up so early. "And from the sound of it you don't really go to school, do you skip a lot? Because that isn't good at all," thanks captain obvious. The girl obviously knew it was bad to skip school. But something was off, why was she up so early and why did she think there was school? Was the girl that tired or something?
Cordelia instantly rolled her eyes when the girl said it was none of her business, was she serious? She didn't have to be such a bitch. "Clearly someone has an attitude problem all I did was ask a question," she said with a shake of her head. She couldn't believe the rudeness she was getting from this one girl. The girl ordered her drink and then Cordy was next. "Can I just get a vanilla bean frappuccino with a caramel drizzle and a light whip cream?" She didn't want too much whip cream, as if she needed that much sugar in the morning. "So, big girl ordering such an adult drink huh?" She said jokingly to the girl.
She could tell the girl was annoyed that Cordelia was talking to her which was why Cordelia talked to her even more, yep Cordelia was a bitch like that. "And by the way why are you wearing that ugly sweater, I mean black? Can you be any more boring?" Black can be okay sometimes but not all the time plus that hoodie was just hiding whoever this girl was. Cordelia would totally give her some advice on her outfit. "My names Cordelia by the way," she said with a smile although she wasn't sure if Ms. Attitude was going to give her a smile or even say her name. Cordelia would have to wait and see but hopefully this girl could freaking keep a conversation entertained.
She was still curious to know why the girl was up this early and getting a drink that was strong, most teenagers get the kind of drink Cordy got or something way lighter. Obviously this girl wasn't like an average teenage girl, maybe she was like outcast, a loser? Cordelia could totally give her a makeover which meant that all the guys would go after her. Cordelia had this all planned out, she had a vision and she was going to go through with that vision. Her frappuccino finally came after the wait. She would totally sit with the girl just to piss her off.

------------------ ------------------ "Clearly your old!" Annie shot back at the women, giving her a few more second to think on what she was about to say. "And have never herd of summer school!" She added. That should work. Yeah. She could have a job during the week, a summer job, so she is able to take classes on Saturday so she does not have to miss work. Like a work study thing. They had those kind of programs right? She had no idea if they really were on the weekends or at night. But Annie was confident she could argue the point at least for a while. Argue it long enough to get the women off her back.
"No one asked for your help." Annie pointed out. Getting a bit softer. She did not want help, and yes she was being a bitch. But it was her defense. It's what she did. People generally left her alone. She did not really want to be mean, or rude to people. It's just how she has learned to be. It's what worked best for her in every situation. Nothing could hurt her if she was such a bitch. Nothing could touch her, she was safe behind her wall. A place she really did not want to be. What she'd give to have her parents back. Still it was not much of a life, but when they were around she could at least sleep without waking every other moment. At least with her parents she did not have to fear, she just had to live. They would protect her, even if they were far away, they were always there.
Now it was just her. Here alone, fighting thins no person should know about. Alone. No 14 year old should have to deal with that. She should be at school kicking a soccer ball around or giggling about boys, or homework. What she would not do for a sheet of paper with math on it. Simple stupid stuff. Had she had a normal life she knew she'd never once complain about anything. She'd smile and do her homework first thing. She'd go to the park, she'd play. She'd be happy, nothing would bring her down. But that was only a dream of hers. A dream she could never reach. At least not any more. Her parents were long gone, she was stuck in this life. Not that she had long to live. Annie kind of had a bit of a death wish. Anything was better then her current life.
"Ugh. Whatever." Annie responded, not giving the women the time of day. Maybe if she ignored her she'd just go away. but that really did not seem so likely. Nope. Annie was pretty sure this girl here would be a hard one to shake. Yep. Annie was going to have to find herself a school, and walk to it. Hopefully she'd walk to a high-school. Wait... would she even be in high school at this age? That was a weird though. Maybe not. What did Annie know. All she cared about was going about her life. She did not ask for help, because she did not want it. She needed it, but she'd never accept it. Not willingly. At least not with out some promise of food. Annie was a bit of a hoarder when it came to food. She would find food and hide it in all kinds of places. Annie knew how to life starving. She knew how to survive. It did not mean she liked being hungry, but she knew how to make the best out of something, even if that meant being hungry for weeks. At least she was alive.
Annie just walked over to the service bar. Just waiting for her drink, trying to ignore the women who followed. Stupid girl. Oh of course she was going to follow. It's where you had to pick up your drink. But still. Dang. Give the girl some space, dang. Annie was being suffocated by attention, and she hated it. Okay so she kind of liked it. It broke up her day, gave her something to do, made life exciting, annoying but excited none the less.
It took Annie by surprise when the women pointed out her black hoddie. She looked down at it, pulling it out at the stomach, as if there were a massive stain on it. It was just a normal sweater, clearly very worn. It's not like she had much of an option. She wore what she could steal out of those clothing bin things. A shirt was a shirt. It did it's job. It was there when she needed it. It's the best she knew how to do. Sure she could take from a store, but that got way risky. If she got caught, she'd never make it out, she'd be thrown in some kind of hospital and maybe if she were lucky put into a foster care. But her collection of knifes and weapons would be gone. She could not lose her knifes. Most of which came from her parents, the only real thing she had left of theirs, besides this backpack.
"There's nothing wrong with the sweater." Annie said under her break, letting her hand fall back to her side. Guess there was a bit of a nerve hit. She used to dress so cute when her parents were alive and could get her some clothing. But now, she had nothing. She hated how she looked, but she did not have much of a choice. She did what she could, she did her best. People did not donate the nicest of things. Every now and again she might get lucky and find a pair of jeans that fit. But they don't last long. Not in her field. Most things get torn and bloodied. So she did what she could. Anyway she really had to travel light, really light. She carried only what she could, a change of clothing or two, but other then that, she got nothing.
The coffee was pushed to the edge of the counter, and Annie took it. The girl introduced herself, and Annie figured she'd just walk away, but the clothing comment shook her. Most people left that out, they were too worried about her food hording, or what was in her backpack, or other such things. Most adults did not dare point out her less then satisfactorily looks. At least her hair was washed in the last few days. She had a place to go back to. She had food. At least for a while, while she stays with some hunter guy and his weird messed up family. It was temporary, but she'd stay until she was well rested and ate her fill. Then she'd steal some food and be on her way. But until then she looked at least clean. That was a plus.
"Annie." She said turning to the women behind her, for just a second, not bothering to make eye contact, before storming off in the other direction, right to the table of sugar and what not. Annie stood there for a moment, just picking at some things. Taking a couple sugar packets and stuffing it in her pocket. It was not any good, but it helped with energy later on. Her coffee stood black as ever, as she fiddled with the items on the counter. She still did not ask for any help, and she really did not want it. Glancing out side, she could tell it was still super early. With a long sigh she just took a seat, as far from human contact as she could manage. Of course that would not be far enough. Even at her little one person table, she could see the women getting closer. Stupid.
Annie held her steaming cup in two hands, the lid thrown on the table. She had the cup resting right under her nose, as she watched the women advance. Just watched the women over her eyelashes, looking over her cup, waiting for some stupid comment. Or some bitchy sentence about hygiene. She's gotten that talk once, and she never wanted to have it again. She cant help it, she can't always find a hotel room to wash up in, and she cant always take a bath in a stream or pool. She did her best. She was only 14.

----------------------- ----------------------- "Um, okay," she said a little confused. Was this girl trying to insult her? Cordelia Chase did not look old, what the hell was she talking about? "I am totally not old, I'm in my early twenties," she said with a little annoyance in her voice. Did she have wrinkles or something? Cordelia took out her phone and looked in the screen and started doing facial expressions like scrunching up her face and smiling to see. "See! No wrinkles whatsoever!" She made sure she would never get those, she used different creams just to get her glow. "And um, why would you have summer school on the weekend? I've been in school and summer school has never been on the weekend...unless I missed something," she could be wrong considering she had been dead but still it didn't make any sense. Why would the girl say she was in summer school on the weekend? School was not in session and Cordelia may have been dead but the school curriculum couldn't have changed that much, she should ask Buffy later on.
"Okay, Ms. Attitude I know you think you're all bad ass but stop because it isn't working," she said with a sigh of frustration. Why was this freaking girl being so difficult? Honestly! "I never said I was gonna help, where did that even come from?" She asked totally confused with this girl. Why was she being such a bitch? Cordelia was being nice right now, well what she just said wasn't the nicest thing but it wasn't the rudest thing either. Did the girl not like friendly interaction? It wasn't like Cordy was some psycho trying to kidnap the girl, all she did was ask why she had been up so early considering she was a teenager. When Cordelia was a teenager she never woke up early unless it was for school of course or for her morning jog but that was about it so unless the girl was jogging then Cordelia didn't understand.
Either this girl was just a bitch and thought she was top shit or there was more to her than the eye led on. Cordelia not to judge others so quickly as she did previously with all of her friends and she was totally wrong about them. Cordelia didn't know this girl's story but the girl should be a lot nicer considering Cordelia had done nothing. Yes, Cordelia could be seen as a bitch and she was a bitch in high school as well as she didn't like anyone who remotely seemed annoying or was just a loser talk to her so if they tried she simply ignored them or told them to go away or made some remark. That was the complicated life of Cordelia so maybe this girl was superficial, then again she sure didn't dress superficial so obviously she couldn't assume what the girl was.
"Yes, there is, have you looked in the mirror?" Okay, that was a bit harsh but she was being totally honest. "I mean it looks all worn out and it's so baggy, so not the style that's in," she told the teenager. Was she not reading fashion magazines or anything? Come on, most teenage girls read the fashion magazine or had friends to tell them what was in so what was the girl's deal? She was clearly living under a rock for a long time and didn't know about the fashion that was in right now or how to speak to a person politely and nicely. Didn't she ever hear the saying of 'Respect your elders?' Honestly, but whatever Cordelia was so over it now. She'd still try and be nice even if the girl was being a bit rude but Cordelia wouldn't be able to handle the rudeness for a long time.
Cordelia waited for her frappuccino patiently even though she wanted to get out of here quickly. The girl who was named Annie had gotten her coffee and seemed to be storming off or walking, whatever the hell she was doing. She took a sip of her drink and looked at Annie wondering if she should go talk to the girl. Oh my god! What if Annie was a hobo?! That would make total sense! Cordelia looked at her hair though and realized that she wasn't, it didn't look dirty or anything. Cordelia felt like being nice today and she would talk to the girl more even though Annie seemed to be annoyed by Cordelia's presence. Cordelia wasn't even an annoying person so how Annie was getting annoyed she didn't know. Did Cordelia seem like one of those adults why they seemed so peppy and nerdy? She couldn't seem like that, she was so not that, well she was peppy but definitely not nerdy. She would just have to prove to the girl that she wasn't annoying at all.
Cordelia started walking towards Annie with a smile on her face, she was totally being cool right now with what she was going to tell the girl. "Can I sit here? Well, I'm going to anyway," she said while sitting down. Cordelia then realized she forgot to get her breakfast but she didn't want to risk the girl walking out on her, so she would just skip it for now. "You and I missy are going shopping," she said with a grin on her face. "And I'm paying so you have no excuses whatsoever, no ifs or buts," she said wagging her finger as she took another sip of her beverage. Annie was not going to be getting out of this one, Cordelia wouldn't allow it because once shopping or mall was used in a sentence there was no going back. She loved to shop, and what she loved even more than shopping was giving someone a makeover. She would need to contact Cas somehow and tell him to come shopping, she would love to see him in different types of clothing rather than that ugly jacket all of the time but knowing him he was probably not going to change for anyone, but Cordelia was determined.
It was a good thing Cordelia had the money. She wouldn't buy Annie a bunch of stuff, just a few cute tops and a couple pair of shorts maybe a pair of jeans. "Just think of me as...you're fashion guru because you clearly need it," she said still wondering why the girl was wearing such a big hoodie that looked just horrible. She knew that Annie would resist, or maybe she wouldn't but if she did then Cordelia was going to be persistent she was determined besides she hadn't bought anything cute for herself for the past couple weeks so might as well buy something cute for someone else right? It made more sense plus she would get good karma points for doing this. It wasn't like she was being charitable on purpose, okay maybe she was a little bit but she did want to find out what the girl's story was, something just wasn't adding up unless she truly was that big of a bitch but no one was a bigger bitch than Cordelia.
Cordelia was usually good at making friends, usually everyone ended up liking her. It would be kind of odd if she became friends with a teenager though, maybe she shouldn't be talking to her, she didn't want to seem like some desperate girl looking for friends or whatever. That wasn't Cordelia at all but hey, she still wanted to go shopping even if she didn't want to be friends with her/ She should have really thought of that before, but maybe people would think were sisters when they were at the mall or like cousins because she really didn't want to explain why she was hanging with someone who was a lot younger than her, okay now she was sounding old and she didn't like that all.
She'd have to ask if Benny if she seemed old, she didn't want to be old. She looked at her phone again pretending to fix her hair even though she was really just seeing if she looked old at all, she looked the same or maybe she was wrong. hopefully she wasn't wrong, she didn't want to be old looking. Ugh, why did Annie have to say that? Now Cordelia would be thinking that all day and that was so not okay, she would think about her future with Benny also which she didn't like one bit, god life sucked so hard. She was hoping she'd get distracted enough to not think about any of it but with her luck she'd be thinking about it all day and night. "Do...I look old to you actually?" She asked the girl curiously wanting an answer. She better not say yes to piss off Cordelia, that would be annoying.

------------------ ------------------ Looks like Annie found a weakness. If she really wanted to be mean she could totally just keep attacking that one little thing. Being old was a sensitive subject to most, but for Annie she could not WAIT to be old. Everything would be easy then. Sure you can't move like you used to, but she could be free. Truly. She could walk around at night and no one would ask her stupid things. She could get a hotel room legally, and drive, maybe get a car too. She wanted to be old, she wnated to get wrinkles, she wanted look the age she felt. But Annie was no normal girl. Most women started wearing makeup at her age to hide their 'wrinkles'. Or whatever.
This women was no different. Superficial. She even took out her phone and started looking for some. Yep. Hit a nerve. Good. Annie would just keep pointing out how old she looked, and maybe the women would get all sick and tired of hearing it and leave her the heck alone. Anyway, being old to Annie was not really that old. Most of the population was older then her anyway, so it's not like a real insult anyway. In Annie's mind at least, in others it might be.
Annie rolled her eyes at the women. Clearly she was going to make this difficult. "It's been a while since you've gone to school." She stated that attitude full in her voice. "Time's have changed since you've attended school." She added. That might do it. Maye. It might get the girl madder, but whatever. Who cared. She was still old. Old was a very relative term, and being 14, anyone over 21 was old. Shoot anyone in their 20's was old. She had to be mid to late 20's, pushing 30 maybe. That was old in Annie's book. Though relative to the lifespan of a normal human, not so old. But for a hunter. It was old enough. Hunters hardly ever get to see their 50's, let only 60's. So 20, that was a good old chunk of your life right there.
"Your all the same. You know that. Your 'sweet' face wont hide your true nature. " Annie fired back, not even letting the girl finish her sentience. " You don't have to pretend to care. I don't need a mother." She added. It was true she really did not need one, she might want one. But she was fine on her own. "You can leave me alone now thanks. I don't take hand outs." She added. Turning her back and just putting distance between herself and the girl. She just wanted to be alone, she was not sure how she could make that any more clear. Honestly. She had told the girl off, now just leave. The girl was too dumb to realize what she was doing, or she was trying to be some kind of hero, rescuing a young girl from the streets. Whatever it was, Annie has seen it all before, and she was tired of it. She was old enough to be out on her own, what did the women care? Annie was not hurting anyone, and she was clearly well , you can't get muscles like the ones Annie has by being lazy and poor. Well you can be poor, but not lazy. Still, why did the women care? Why not just mind her own dang business and drop it. It was not a big deal, simple as that.
Back in her little corner, Annie pulled her feet on the chair with her, letting her chin rest on the top of her mug as she watched the women from afar. She knew this was not over. That much was clear. Annie liked to think of herself as not caring. But she did care. She did not like wearing the shit from the bins, left out all gross with holes and faded and whatever. But she did what she had to do. She liked what she did, loved her job really, she just wished she could look a little more put together, people might take her seriously maybe leave her alone. It's not like she had anyone to speak with. She was alone in this, and it was hard. She just wanted a lot, none of which she could ever get.
So she just let herself burn out. No use in keeping up appearances. Anyway, she was tired, she had a really long night. So why use up all her energy on a stupid fight. She might as well save it, she was going to have to fine her way back to that guys house anyway. "I told you. I don't take handouts." Annie responded, the fire gone in her voice. Yep. She was tried alright. "You don't need to help me. I'm fine on my own you know." Annie added, though she realized she might have given away more then she should have. She did not mean for it to be taken literally. But she knew that's how it was going to be taken. Now the women knew she was alone. Annie would of course play it off, she had a house to go home to and a nice one at that. So if the girl did follow her home, well she had a house, she was a guest in it of course, but the women would have no way of knowing that.
"Even if you did buy me things, I'd have no where to put it. My back pack's kind of full." Annie continued, but she of course needed a cover. She could not just end it like that. Nope. She would need something more. Throw the girl off a bit. "My parents would just make me return it anyway." Annie said, figuring out a plan in her head. She'd just be homeless. Her parents going through a hard time, and they live at friends homes, moving around a lot. Annie lives out of a suit case, which she clearly does, only in her case it's a backpack. But whatever. It will explain a lot. Maybe not the whole buying coffee thing. Poor people can't buy coffee. But Annie would say she was up all night working, not a lie, and she got coffee as a reward before she goes off to school. Yep. Still sticking with the school thing. Why not? Might as well. "So it's not worth it. School starts in a few hours anyway. My mother would be livid if I missed it." Annie continued, just adding a bit more to the fire of protection.
Once again the phone came out, and Annie could see what she was doing. Checking to see if she looked all old. Annie just let out a sigh. "Don't take it so personal." Annie said shaking her head a little, just smelling the warm coffee really. Annie always liked the smell. Hated the taste, but loved the smell. "Age is relative. Your older then me, so your old." Annie explained. "Having a few wrinkles does not make you old, or ugly. It makes you beautiful and mature." Annie tried. She was trying really. But it was true, in Annie's eye a women was not beautiful until she wore her life on her face. The laugh lines, the winkles around your eyes, it meant you lived. It's something she really looked forward to, only she knew she'd never see herself in the light. Annie would be lucky to make it to 30, let alone 40. Still, the women was young, old enough to be an adult, but she has not been one for long. She still had a long happy life waiting for her. That's more then she could say about herself. ------------------

----------------------- ----------------------- Okay, Cordelia totally did not look old, she was young and she was hot, she could party still. It wasn't like the woman was wearing mom jeans or anything...god. She didn't understand this girl but she probably would never understand her. Just those words stung her, she had never been called old before, if she was old she would be a parent or growing gray hair and getting wrinkles but nope, she was tan, fit, and energetic so where did Annie go off telling her she was old? So, Cordelia probably sounded really superficial in her head as she couldn't let this one little thing go but how could she? She used to be this popular girl in high school who had all the boys wanting her and now she was just normal Cordy, guys did look at her when she was walking but still, it wasn't the same as high school.
"Um excuse me? It's only been a couple years like god give a girl a break," she said in frustration. It had only been a few years hadn't it? It wasn't like it had been ten years, she wasn't in the double digits yet so that was good. But god, now Cordelia was feeling old since it had been basically like eight years since she was in high school, life has been going by quickly apparently...she didn't like it at all. She even thought of Benny in this moment, she was growing old each day while Benny stayed the same age, but then again he did appear to be in his thirties, she'd have to ask him someday. She just didn't like how she was growing older, the older she got, the more responsibilities she would have to take in life and she already had some dealing with the supernatural. "Times have totally not changed, or maybe they have...I don't know! But I. Am. Not. Old!" She said getting irritated now.
Cordelia was seriously confused right now, what did Annie mean by Cordelia being the same as others? "What exactly is my true nature? I mean I thought my true nature was to buy clothing and be there for my friends," she said with a shrug. "Whatever," she said with a shake of her head. Annie was making zero sense to the brunette. "You know, you should be nicer to people who are nice to you, I haven't even been a bitch to you, I could have but nope," maybe Cordelia was when she insulted the girl's clothing but at least she was being honest right? Cordelia had always been a blunt girl, she would never beat around the bush since it just wasn't her.
Cordelia had always thought that appearance mattered even in the morning because well if you were going out you had to look good. That was just the way she thought, sure, there were some days where she dressed pretty lazily like sweatpants and a tank top but those were very rare. Benny hadn't seen her in her sloppy days and Cordelia was going to keep it that way until she was truly comfortable to show him that side since that side wasn't really pretty. Her sloppy side wasn't that bad since she was still pretty but no makeup or anything, yeah he wasn't allowed to see that just yet, if she did show him this soon then she would be asking for a breakup and that was so not happening.
Annie was kind of making it sound like she lived on her own but Cordelia was pretty sure the girl had parents considering she went to school, but could homeless people go to school? This was seriously confusing the girl. "I didn't say I had to help you," she told the girl. "I said I wanted to, there is a major difference," she said with a smile. Cordelia was not going to back down, Annie would have to agree, she didn't care how stubborn the girl was because Cordelia was way more stubborn and extremely persistence. Annie should might as well give in now. The young girl was just delaying the inevitable. When Cordelia wanted to go shopping with someone, it always happened.
"I don't think so," she said with a shake of her head. "You are not backing out of this missy!" She said not giving in. "We are shopping and who cares about your bag when we have shopping bags duh," she said with a little laugh. Has Annie never been to a mall? Come on, it was like this girl was hiding under a rock. "Plus, if your parents tell you to return it then I will have a talk with them but for now we don't have to think about that k?" She said with a smile getting excited about doing a makeover. It was only a matter of time before Annie gave in, Cordy just wished she did now so they could get this show on the road. "And cut the whole 'I'm in school' blah, blah, blah, I totally know there's no school so mall day!" She said excitedly. She didn't get why Annie was so resistant.
"I'm not sure if that was a compliment or an insult...," she said a little confused. "I guess thanks? But I don't wrinkles I mean I use a wrinkle cream!" She said finally putting her phone away. She wasn't going to worry about it anymore. "And you're acting like I'm like twenty years older than you so can't I just be seen as someone who is a little older?" She asked the girl. "Y'know, you seem really mature for your age, that's really weird I was so distracted by boys when I was your age," Cordelia stopped talking then gasped. "Oh my god, I am old! That totally just sounded old!" She said now worried. She didn't like this feeling at all, she didn't want to be thinking about it anymore or else it would just stress her out, why did Annie have to bring it up?

------------------ ------------------ "You know your old when....." Annie said under her breath. Before letting a good eye roll take over. She was hard core defending her age. What young person did that? No one. It was more a think what you want and walk away. Age was only a number, its more how you felt. She felt old, that much was very clear. In everything she did she had to feel young, look young act young. That was sign of someone missing their youth. If she would have just been like think what you want. I don't think I'm old, and left it. Annie would have very little to go off of. But man all this was gold. She found a weakness, and that was never a good thing. Let the psychological torture begin. This was the best kind after all. Annie had to do very little. She only had to make a little comment here and there, and her mind would do the rest. Eventually the girl would leave or break.
Annie did not care which. Any way she'd get left alone. It was no longer her problem. The girl was an adult she could handle herself, she had to society said she had to. But hey that's what you get for bugging Annie. You leave her alone she'll leave you alone. Annie tried to warn her, tried to tell her to step off. She did not listen, now she was going to have to face herself. No one liked that. Call it evil, whatever. Annie hardly cared at this point. She did what she had to, and she'd accept her place in death when it came for her. It was only a matter of time. She already surpassed the age she thought she would die, the age society said she would have died on her own. So she was really living on borrowed time. But she'd pay it back at some point, she was sure of that.
"There you go again." Annie said with a bit of a sigh. "I see past your bull shit. You can stop with your act now. " Annie went on. "Your superficial. It's all right there. A need to be young, look young, feel young, be the head cheerleader, all the boys fanning after you. Queen bee. Right?" Annie asked. She could spot these guys from a mile away. Always so concerned about how they looked. They lived a very sheltered life. Try digging around the trash for something good to eat, or killing a vampire who wanted nothing more then to suck you dry. "This ain't high school. You should stop trying to live in it." Annie added, a bit of her own advice. Not that Cordelia would take it. But honestly. It was nice to look good, but it was not necessarily. Annie was trying to survive, not just live, but survive. Form what Annie got Cordelia was just trying to be popular, be liked. She was not living, she was trying to reach a goal that was totally 100% unobtainable.
"Not really." Annie responded. If she did not feel like she had to help Annie she never would have offered. People like Cordelia always have some kind of motive. Even if it's to earn some brownie points later. Anyway, Annie could do it on her own she did not want hand outs. She would not owe anyone anything. There would be no favors she'd have to pay back. She'd just do what she had to do. Giving help because you wanted to or needed to, made no difference if the person getting your help did not want it. Annie did not want any help, so what did this all matter?
Annie just blinked shaking her head. She underestimated how dumb Cordelia really was. What was she not getting? If Annie went shopping, and was able to stay awake long enough to do so. The clothing would just get tossed out. Annie could not carry them. Having a shopping bag would only make her a target to some thugs and a fight would break out. It was dumb and pointless and just feeding into society's vision of what beautiful was. Anyway, if she did go shopping to get the women off her back, she'd dump the clothing before they even left the mall. So if she wanted to throw her money away fine. Annie did not understand why she'd throw it away like this when there were starving people on the street. Shallow. That's what she was shallow. That pissed Annie off more then anything. What was the point in buying something that Annie could never keep? Ever?
"Your so full of shit, you know that right?" Annie said. She was tired, she wanted to go home, well her temporary home, whatever it was. She wanted to sleep. Even if she gave in, it would not matter. She can't keep what she cant carry. She cant carry it, so that's that. "I don't understand what's not reaching your brain." Annie said, for what seemed like the third time. "You don't seem to understand. I don't have a home, I have nothing but this back pack. If It can't fit in here, I cant own it. I don't have any room left. Anyway fashionable clothing are not in anyway practical." She continued. She was just gonna get down to it. Clearly the women could not take a hint, and Annie was going to have to be very blunt about it all. Which means she'd have to give away some information that could come back to bite her in the ass. But Annie wanted to get through that thick head of hers. Annie really just wanted to see if Cordelia had a brain or if it was just hot air.
WOULD THIS NEVER END!!! What did Anni have to do to get a good mature conversation going? Eh. Who had time for boys anyway? They were weak and narrow minded. God. It was like torture sitting here listening to Cordelia realize how 'old' she was. Annie was hoping it would take longer to process in her mind, so she'd break down alone at home where Annie did not have to listen to it. "I don't think you realize how young I really am." Annie said saying the word young a little louder then normal. But she was trying to once again get a point across, a point Cordelia was very clearly missing. Missing everything. Dumb as a freaking door nail. Annie really was not sure how she could get past that. She half figured, she could just agree to go shopping, then once they get out of the coffee house, Annie would turn and run.
Even if Cordelia was faster then her in the beginning, Annie was built for long distance running, a steady pace. She had that burst of speed, but she could out run here any day. After a while Cordelia would get tired and just stop running, she was old after all, and she was not dressed for a good run, not at all dressed right. Annie was. Annie would do just fine. She'd get away, and she'd never have to listen to Cordelia speak about things that did not matter. The only things that really mattered would be where was she going to sleep, how was she going to eat, and what was lurking around the corner.

----------------------- ----------------------- "I AM NOT OLD," she shouted but then realized she was in a public place and she didn't want people looking at her. "Look at me, I'm basically glowing!" She told the girl. She was tired of hearing that she was old because she clearly wasn't, why couldn't this girl see it? "You just think I'm old because you are super young, not my fault that your a kid," she said facing away from the girl. Being called old actually really upset Cordelia, she knew she shouldn't be upset of some little girl calling her that but she couldn't help it considering she knew she was getting older and dating a vampire didn't help her case at all.
Cordelia was starting to get the hint that Annie wanted to be left alone but as if the brunette was going to leave her alone, she would totally annoy her until she snapped, it was kinda fun to annoy her. Cordelia probably seemed like a bitch for purposely annoying the girl but she couldn't help it, Annie seemed like one of those kids who grew up way too fast and Cordy was going to find the fun in her. All the girl needed was some shopping and she would be okay. But seriously who took the fun out of her? She seemed so depressed and angry, Cordelia wondered what about maybe some family issues or a boy? She was curious and really wanted to find out.
"That was scarily accurate but yep! I was head cheerleader," she said with a smile. Those were the days...not anymore sadly. "And not every guy swooned over me but most because well I was the shit back then," she was being blunt and honest that was who she was. "Excuse me but I'm not trying to live in high school, I attended, I graduated, and now I help save the w-I mean never mind," god that was a close one. She almost admitted to the supernatural but she saved herself. "Anyway, high school is done and over with I'm happy to be where I am," she told the girl. Cordelia wasn't like every high school popular who graduated, she had changed.
"Yes really," she could play this game all day, there was a major difference. She didn't get why Annie was being so difficult, why couldn't the girl just give in and be nice, it was the like she had her walls up or something. Cordelia wasn't being a bitch at all but here was this girl being the biggest bitch ever, she was no Cordy of course but she was a close second. Cordelia wanted to know what her deal was as she didn't understand where the rudeness was coming from. Did she think she was better than Cordelia? if so then she clearly wasn't.
"You are freaking sassy," she said a little irritated. How was Cordelia full of shit? She wasn't doing anything so why did Annie find the need to say that to Cordelia? It just made no sense in her mind. "You're the one that told me you had parents! God what is your childhood trauma?!" She said putting up her hands and then dropping them giving up finally. This girl was just way too much, Cordelia didn't know how she could handle her. "And fashionable clothing are always practical trust me plus you don't have to put clothing in your bag that's what shopping bags are used for duh," she said with a nod. "So, where are you living?" She asked the girl curiously wanting to know. Hopefully she wasn't living on the streets.
Cordelia looked at the girl for a long time wondering what exactly her age was, she looked young so she was definitely under eighteen so what age? "Hm, I'm guessing you're like fifteen? You totally look like a fifteen year old," she said wondering if she got it right. "Maybe thirteen? You are totally around there so I must be like half right, right?" She loved to guess but sometimes it got annoying. She was hoping she was sort of right but most likely not, then again Cordelia was usually good at guessing so she could be right as well. "So you are definitely a teenager, do you go to school or no?" She didn't know if hobos went to school or not, the girl might go.
"I don't get it why did you lie to me before about having parents and going to school?" She asked. "Clearly I believed you," Annie probably wanted Cordelia to leave her alone and that was why she lied but of course Cordy kept pestering the girl so maybe that was she fessed up, Cordelia didn't really know. She was curious though, like what was the girl's story? What had she been through? And why was she the way she was, so guarded? There were just so many questions floating in her head and she didn't like it as she knew she probably wouldn't get the answers considering Annie seemed to be really stubborn.

------------------ ------------------ "Shit. Insecure much?" Annie asked, leaning back in her chair as Cordelia yelled at her in public. Now this was in no way the first time it has happened, but each and every time it caught Annie off guard. She was really expecting to get hit, not mentally slapped. That was harder to deal with then anything. Annie knew she needed a good slap across the face here and there, but to be yelled at like that, it was embarrassing, and degrading really. But Annie took it in stride. She just allowed it, leaning forward her hands putting the coffee cup on the table as Cordelia turned from her. She did not meant to hurt Cordelia feelings. Well okay so maybe she had. But dang. She had no idea age was such a big deal. It's not like she was that old for a human. A hunter she was middle of her life, solid middle, not old. Not yet. Yet she seemed convinced she was old enough to need a walker and plastic surgery. There would be nothing Annie could say to change Cordelia's mind about all that. So she'd have to let it be, she'd have to let Cordelia figure this all out on her own and wallow in her age.
Oh.... so she was that type?! What was she in those beauty pageants, and she was convinced by wining the crown she'd save the world? Yeah right. Annie was just not convinced. She shook her head. "Sure." Annie responded. Again Cordelia was in her own little world and NOTHING would change that. But Annie had her figured out pretty well. She needed to be loved, that girl needed others to be happy. It was sad, but it was true. She was pretty sure Cordelia would give her life up to go back to High School to rule the 'world' her world again. But it did not matter. She was going to think what she wanted to think, and it would only lead to a fight. Annie did not have any energy to keep all that up. None at all. Which reminded her of her coffee, which for the first time she took a sip of. Well it was more of a large gulp, taking a good fourth of the cup of coffee down her throat. Hopefully that would help get her energy up a bit. God knows she was going to need it.
"Life." Annie simply answered. That was her trauma, and it would be Cordelia's too if she knew what was under her bed at night, what things lurked around every corner, what deadly creatures wanted nothing more then your soul, your blood and body. She was 14, she should be worrying about what to wear to the next dance and what boy to go with. But no she was worried about what might break into her room next, what blood thirsty creature wanted her head on a plate. What thing was following her, but most of all when would Sam, Dean and their whipped Angel find her, and kill her? It was only a matter of time, she knew at some point she'd run into them. They were in the same business. TI was going to happen. Just when? "I got a place. But I cant stay long. No shopping bag will do it. I'm not about to walk down the streets with my arms full of shopping bags. That just screams rob me!" Annie said shaking her head. And she was SURE the places Cordelia wanted to take her to shop where not cheap. Which meant she would only be that much more of a target.
"Yep. You caught me. 15 years old that." Annie said letting the fib leave her lips without a second thought. Eh. She'd be 15, why not? Cordelia was not that far off, only a year. But still a year made all the difference in a life of a hunter. "And I told you. I got summer school, Saturday classes." She added, adding in an eye roll for effect. Like DUH! she kind of wanted to add, in that make fun of Cordelia kind of way. But she held it back. Still she was sticking with her lie. She had class, and that was that.
"I'm not lying to you." She said as soon as she was able. Annie was a great lier, she lived on it, she had to. She knew how to cover things up, and she knew how to speak, to give enough info without getting to far into detail. "I've been nothing but honest. I have two parents, I move from shelter to shelter with them. All I have is this pack. Every night, my mother and I are allowed into a room, a different one each and every night. My father goes to the next shelter and gets in line for us, so we have a place to stay. Depending on the shelter, my father is sometimes able to stay. But most of them or shelters for women and children only." Annie said, spinning that lie with ease. She knew how the whole homeless thing worked. So it was not that hard. "I take everything with me no matter where I go, because I never know where I might end up tonight. Shoot if we are lucky, we might get to stay in one room for a week. But that's only happened once." Annie added, what a big old lair!!! "So what exactly did I lie about?" She asked taking another gulp of her coffee bringing it down to half a cup. She leaned back in her chair, waiting just waiting for what Cordelia thought she was fibbing about. Her story would check out. She'd make sure of it.

----------------------- ----------------------- "Listen little girl," she said while using her index finger to show how authoritative she was when she really wasn't that authoritative. "I am so not insecure, just because I say I'm not old doesn't mean I'm insecure, I'm a confident girl and I know I look hot," she said cockily. Hey, she knew she was hot and a good body for someone who just came back alive, plus she had a nice tan that was hard to maintain but it was so worth it. She took a sip of her beverage, she was starting to get pissed off. Apparently she didn't know how to handle kids. No, kids she could handle but troubled teens now that was just a whole different story, well this was her first troubled teen so there was no story. But seriously, why was this girl so dark and why does she want to be seen an unknown. That hoodie just screamed nobody so when she went to school she must seem like invisible or something. She wondered if anyone stayed invisibile permanently
"Well, aren't you just talkative," she said sarcastically as she crossed her arms. She knew Annie didn't really want to talk to her but Cordelia wasn't going anywhere so she should might as well make the best of it. Annie clearly had some issues that needed to be addressed at some point whoever it would be with. It seemed like the girl had a troubled past so maybe that why she was so mature. It honestly seemed like she was more mature than Cordelia and that was weird. Cordelia had her immature moments but she usually was mature in most situation but with Annie it seemed like there was a stick up her butt, she just seemed really stiff. Probably cause of the situation she was in.
"Trust me, there's more to life than the eye leads on," she told the girl with a nod. If Annie was this depressing then Cordelia didn't want to see her if she ever found out about demons, now she would be the most depressing girl on this earth. "And life does get better if you have the people you care about with you," she said with a smile. She knew that Annie didn't have a lot and maybe not many friends but she should get some if she wanted to survive the life that she had. Cordelia actually wondered where the girl's parents were, maybe dead or just gave her up? She had a lot of questions to ask her but she couldn't right now considering they just met, but if they ever bumped into each other again she totally would. "So you have a place which means you can totally bring them home, and if I'm there you'll be fine I know some martial arts!" She said with a grin. She wasn't sure what Angel taught her but it seemed like it was martial arts so she would just call it that.
Cordelia looked at Annie for a moment and gave her the look where she thought Annie was lying. "Sorry, not buying it all you do not have school since you said you just got a place. See, I'm smarter than you think," she said with a nod. "And I knew I was a good guesser," she felt proud of herself for knowing the girl's age, she was getting better at this kind of stuff. She wondered why Annie was lying about going to school, whatever. "So, shopping?" She was not going to let the shopping thing go, the two were going to go, she was convincing Annie even if she didn't like it. Shopping was fun and Cordelia would show her that fun side as everyone said that shopping with her is was extremely fun. Maybe Annie would ease up a bit and the two could finally sort of have fun.
"Oh my god you poor family," okay bad choice of words considering they were already poor. But there was no other word to use. "But if you're moving shelter to shelter....how are you going to summer school?" She asked curiously, something was up and she was going to figure it out. "Something's not adding up here...," she said thinking for a while. She wanted to know what was up but Annie clearly didn't want to share what the problems were. She felt bad for her though and had hoped that things got better for her as she did deserve a normal life with her parents, maybe they needed jobs or something. "how does someone who goes from shelter to shelter have school in fact how do you go to summer school when you barely attend the full year of school?" She just didn't understand and she was trying to make sense of it all.
She was hoping that the two could walk and talk once they got out of here, yep just because Cordelia didn't get an answer doesn't mean she was gonna let it go. She knew Annie would come in the end as she needed to get new clothes and it would be a good experience. It was good that the two weren't so hostile or whatever it was at the beginning of their meeting. Maybe Annie just had to see that Cordelia wasn't that bad actually or maybe she was just waiting to call her old again, she didn't know.

------------------ ------------------ "Right.... keep telling yourself that, because I don't believe it for a second. " Annie added looking rather bored. And she well was. Honestly. What was she going to do from here? Cordelia was much to old to be told off by her, apparently. So it's not like anything Annie said was going to open up the flood gates and Cordelia would finally see the light, see how lonely and insecure she really was. Cordelia was a lost cause. Annie said her bit, she said what she had to say, and Cordelia continued to defend her age. It was really a dumb argument, again seeing as most of the worlds population was much older then Annie. Old, Older, it was the same dang word, it all meant the same. But Cordelia did not have to sit there and say she was not old, for she was old, old to Annie, simply because she was born before her. So why waste her breath. Annie was over it, and she was about ready to tune Cordelia out, just check out complete until Cordelia got board and let Annie go home.
"That's what they all say." She said her voice trailing up in octave as she spoke. Yep. Everything always got better..right? Things were perfect later, you just had to wait. Everything would of course work out. But if that was true then why on earth would Annie be in her current situation. If things were so perfect and they always got better, then why in the world did her parents die when she was young? Why was she such a burden to others? Why was she generally hated? Seems like life never got much better. That's what made her such a great hunter. She understood life sucked, and if one or two people have to die to save the masses, well she'd have to let them go. She's save as many people as she could. Life was never fair, and if your the one person that had to die to keep all hell from breaking lose, well then, so be it. Sure people would miss you, but life went on.
"Right I have a place for now. I always have a place. What you don't seem to understand is it's never the SAME place." Annie said looking at Cordelia like she was an idiot. She was CLEARLY missing something up in that head of hers, Annie just could not figure it out. Not at all. "You clearly come from a privileged background, so it's no surprise you have no idea what your talking about." Annie said shaking her head, as she adjusted the backpack on her back.
"UGH!" Annie said as she let her head fall to the table, smacking it pretty hard, which in turn made the table jump a bit, shaking the coffee she had, which in tern split a couple slashes on the table. But clearly nothing was getting through to Cordelia. And with her going right on out and saying you POOR family. Yeah.... last straw. Annie was far too tired for this, she just wanted to sleep. Cordelia had lost her really. Annie was out. Checking out really. As much energy as the coffee had given her, it was not enough to get her through another conversation with Cordelia. She was too lost in her own little perfect world.
Annie let out a very annoyed sigh. "Just because I don't have an address does not mean I don't attend school. I do. I go everyday, rain or shine. If I have to walk I walk, if there is a buss I'll take it, assuming I have the money." Annie said her head still on the table. "And I don't know where you got this whole I hardly attend school idea. I have no idea. But I value my education. And I'm trying to graduate early, hence the summer classes. " Annie went out sounding more tired then before. Her story was flawless... what was not adding up? Just because she lived in different homes did not mean she could not attend school at the same place. Just because she was homeless meant nothing. "If I graduate early I might be able to get a scholarship so I can attend college." Annie ended. She had gone through this all before. She did her research, she knew. Everything she said, everything she did was true to a point. Of course she never went to public school, but she could fake it. She could pretend. Any which way, Cordelia was clearly thinking up some crazy ideas, somehow convinced Annie was not being truthful, when the facts were all there.
"So you tell me, what exactly is not adding up? Do you want my Social Security number and Birth date while we are add it? Or would I be lying about them also?" She asked peeking out from the table top. "Or are you done calling me names? I have no reason to lie to you. None at all." Annie ended allowing her head to roll over a bit more, again face down on the table. Yep. Check mate, match whatever. Cordelia won, and Annie was fine with it. Still. Annie would not go shopping. Not today. Not tomorrow, maybe not ever. Though she could use a new jacket and shirt seeing as her back up pair were long gone. But still. Today was not going to be the day. If Cordelia was going to walk her home, then Annie was going to pay the park a little visit, and take a nap there. It was not illegal to sleep by the pond.

----------------------- ----------------------- "Ugh, well I think it's time you start believing," Cordelia was getting so annoyed with Annie. It was fair to say that she didn't do well talking to teenagers. Maybe it was because times have changed and that made her sound old but it was true, she wasn't young anymore, she wasn't a high school cheerleader, she wasn't popular, she wasn't sixteen, she was in her twenties now...that part of her life was over now. All of high school just seemed like a memory if anything. Cordelia didn't want to look like she was old though, that was one thing she feared and she feared it even more since she was dating a guy who was never going to age. Cordelia was basically screwed.
"But, it's coming from me so that's totally different," she told the girl with a smile. Life did get a lot better and Cordelia would know considering she had been through a lot. "I know it's hard to believe it but trust me it does don't get so down!" Cordelia had witnessed death and had been pregnant twice which wasn't voluntarily. Then she had sex with her best friend's son who was basically her nephew so yeah ew, and after that it was just downhill. Well, going to the Powers was the first sign of going downhill or were they actually the Powers? She wasn't really sure. But anyway, she died and that wasn't really fun either as she was in a coma before she finally went to heaven or wherever the hell she went.
"Well, that isn't my fault, and stay at wherever you're staying if you don't wanna move, problem solved," she said with a sigh of frustration. Annie was actually the most difficult person ever and it was starting to get annoying how she acted. "You know nothing about my life," she told the girl snapping a little. "I've been through a lot during and after high school facing de-well never mind!" She said giving up. She didn't want to blow her cover of knowing about demons, Annie totally didn't need to know about demons as the girl was already such a negative person imagine her knowing about the supernatural, she'd probably kill herself at that point.
"You're gonna get a bruise doing that, just sayin'," she said taking another sip of her drink. Clearly Annie was getting frustrated with Cordelia so the feelings were definitely mutual. "You are so cranky I think you need a nap," she said with a slight giggle. It was just funny how the girl acted, she acted as if she was some thirty year old not wanting to speak to someone like Cordelia. "You totally have an old soul," she said with a smile. Annie probably wanted Cordelia to stop talking but whatever Cordelia could go on forever actually. The brunette was hard to shut up once she started talking and that wasn't a good thing.
"Awe, well go you!" She said clapping a little. She still wasn't sure if she was buying into any of this but whatever. Cordelia remembered when education used to be important to her, she tried so hard in school so she could go into a good university and get a good job yet here she was fighting demons and had a job that wasn't the greatest but paid well. So really, school didn't help her at all with life, it was useless besides the counting and adding then there was also writing but still most of it was useless. "You must get really high marks then, don't you have to like move schools whenever you go somewhere else though?" She asked a bit curious. Did she actually go to different schools because that would be a lot of stress on her as she had to make new friends every time.
"The way you're acting so tells me you were lying so I think you should fess up!" She told the girl wanting to know the truth finally. "And if you're not gonna tell me then conversation dropped we can go back to shopping because I know how much you love that," she hoped that would get Annie to tell but she wasn't so sure. She just didn't get what Annie was hiding, it had to be something big. Cordelia knew that she was poor but did she actually have parents or was she lying about that? There was just so much to ask yet it felt like Annie wouldn't answer all of her questions. Maybe she would answer some though, she couldn't be that stubborn then again Cordelia could be wrong since Annie had been stubborn the whole time they were talking. She was good at convincing though so it would only be a matter of time before Annie told Cordelia her life story.

------------------ ------------------ "It does not work like that. They kick you out. You leave anything behind they take it. I can't just stay at a shelter. There are stupid lines to wait in and procedures to follow. You can only be helped so many times in one week before they put you on a shit list, so they can help others." Annie tried to explain but she knew her breath would be wasted. Annie just shook her head. Whatever Cordelia has been through in her life, Annie was sure it was nothing compared to her own life. Honestly, she's being hunted by angels, for one. She's not evil for two, and she did nothing to anyone. Yet still she has to hide for fear an angel might find her, and then that's the end of that. If Cordelia only knew how the things that should be on the sides of humans, were really just selfish meat suits. In Annie's eyes an Angel was just a demon in a different light. They were still going to do what they did. No matter how innocent the victim.
All Annie did was grow, and be born. That's it. From the moment she was born, early for that matter, she's been marked. For some reason she was fucked. Her parents did the best they could keeping her from getting killed, and so far they did a great job. She's lived longer then she thought she would have. Too bad her parents had to die to protect her. As much as she's not at all over that, it's been so long the sting is hardly felt anymore. At least Cordelia had family, or she had the option to have one. Annie was just a walking death threat.
"Cuz the cup of coffee was not clue enough." Annie pointed out. Yeah she was tired and very much cranky. Yes she needed a nap. That's what she has been TRYING to do now for a long while. She just wanted to shower and take a nice long nap before she had to get up and work again. Stupid work, killing stupid things. As much as she loved her job, she never truly got a day off... ever. "Yeah, well this 'old soul' has seen a person die a thousand different ways. That kind of shit forces a girl to grow up. Something you could never know." Annie added. One moment of being nice, Annie of course had to ruin it by throwing in a rude comment at the end. At least she tried... for a second... maybe two. It had to count for something. Annie was really just tired.
"No. I go to the same school." Annie responded. "I just have to travel pretty far sometimes. But I can't switch in the middle of the school year. I tend to go to a different school every year or two. But generally I'm at the same place." She pointed out. Every now and again she'd transfer in the middle, but that was rare. Or so that's what she'd say if asked. Annie really never attended a day of public school. But there a lot you can learn by walking in the door's of a high school and hanging out before class. Most of her information came from listening, others from books, and just asking around. Some her parents had told her, in case she ever needed it. Like now. Last thing she needed was an adult looking into her life. If CPS was called, all hell would break lose. Annie would not be easy to catch or find, and god forbid she was taken, she'd only ninja her way out quickly.
Annie just let out a sigh as she looked up. "There's thing to fess up." Annie added, letter her head hit the table again. "Can I go now?" She asked. "Because there's nothing on gods green earth that will get me shopping. Not today." Annie added. "As you so pointed out. I'm cranky and need a nap. " She said. "I don't have much time before class anyway." She added keeping up the whole summer class thing. There were such things as summer classes and weekend courses. Though most were college classes, but hey, she could be taking an AP class... which would count as a college class. So.... there. Loop hole.
((If you want we can end this thread, and have them meet up another time. Like. Annie could be outside the mall fishing around for some discarded clothing in the donation bin thing, and you happen to be shopping and see her? Or we could keep this one going. But Annie wont say a word to Cordelia.))
