- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - Liz shook herself out of her thoughts and looked down at the pendent that he had given her that night, saying it was something from where he would be. It was time to let him go. She prayed he was happy, as that's all she ever wanted for him. She kissed the pendent before putting it inside the Atherton book she had left those few years ago.
"I love you" She whispered before walking down the cliffs and towards her car. She shot one look back to the caves before getting into her car, trying not to collapse into tears. She had officially given away the last piece of her heart.
She sighed as she started her engine. She knew it was time to go. She had classes in the morning and she needed to drive the two hours back to school and get her class work done. Whoever said that college was easy was full of it. She had never been busier in her life. She was glad that she had gotten a full ride to school that way she didn't have to work except for the summer times. She knew she wouldn't have time to work...she remembered how busy she had been in high school. Between work, school, and alien crisis' as Maria called them, she rarely got a good night’s sleep.
She sighed again as she pulled onto the main road. She could have sworn she saw Max's jeep in her rear view mirror, but that was impossible. The first few weeks after they had left Liz and Maria finally got up the courage to leave the house. Before that they only left for school and work, but they finally got the courage and went to see Jim and Kyle. While there Jim told them about the precautions they all made. From the tape that Max and Isabel left him to give to their parents, to setting the jeep on fire and throwing it off a cliff. She knew it wasn't possible.
The jeep was gone...just like Max.
She sighed and at that moment she knew she was losing it. She could have sworn she heard her name being called by an eerily familiar voice. Just as she was about to pull over to the side of the road to listen to it again, she heard an annoying ringing…she couldn’t understand what it was at first…
Liz shot up in her bed…smacking her alarm clock right off the bed stand. She looked around confused for a moment before realizing it was a dream. She groaned loudly, throwing her head back onto her pillow. This wasn’t the first time she’d had a dream where it seemed as if Max and the rest of the podsquad had gone off to Antar instead of staying on Earth and she doubted it would be the last. She stretched out, having fallen back asleep after getting ready…luckily it only took her a few minutes to get herself less rumbled before she headed out into the day.
Arriving in the town square she put her car in park and headed where she could see people milling around, simply enjoying the sunshine on her face as she walked from store to store, just getting the lay of the land.

-------------------------- [/b] --------------------------[/b] Good nights of sleep had become overrated. Or at least that what she was telling herself. She was fueled by caffeine on most days. Working a minimum of five days a week, singing in random clubs on most nights and doing as much overtime as she could, made less time for her to sleep. Not that she really slept a lot anyway. She hated sleeping alone and yet she could never bring someone home with her. The only person she wanted around when it was time to sleep would have been Michael and she knew that he was so far away from her that it was impossible. And yet sometimes she still felt like he was around her, so close and yet so far. Even after years he still had the same hold on her heart.
Same way that her friends still were around her even if she had not seen them in five years, sometimes when she was out she would catch a glimpse of a brunette and she could have sworn that it was Liz. But of course every time it was not, it was someone else, her best friend was gone and there was no way for her to find where she was. If only she could call her, hear her voice, know that she was happy. The little things that she wanted out of life. But those were other impossible things that were keeping her up at night. Provoking nightmares where her friends were dead, unhappy, lost. She would wake up in a cold sweat unable to know what was real
Maria had tried to google her friends trying to figure out where they were but of course nothing had come up. They had probably done the same thing she had done and had changed their identity. It was probably for the best anyway. Strange thing was that lately she had felt the need to travel, just get behind the wheel and drive. She had stopped herself from doing it because she had figured it was crazy talk. Where in the world was she supposed to go anyway right? But now with having four days off to herself maybe it was not a bad idea and beside what was the worst that could happened. Maria had packed her things and drove leaving Seattle behind her. She drove without knowing where she was going.
That was until she had felt it. The need to stay there. Mystic Falls, a place she had never heard of before and yet there was something about this place. She parked her car on the side of the road and figured that she would see what was around before she decided to actually stay for the night and get herself a motel room, that was if this place actually had motels. It looked like a really small town. Perhaps the right place to simply relax and just try to figure out what she was going to do. She didn’t want to be a waitress forever but she had no idea what she wanted to do with her life.
Once she was out of her car and she looked around, it happened again. The woman who looked just like Liz. Maria blinked a few times then closed her eyes to make it go away and yet there she was walking. This was impossible. Maria walked faster to where the brunette was leaving, slightly pushing people out of her way. “Liz.” She whispered to herself as she finally reached her . “Liz!”

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -As she walked around, her eyes took in those around her. She had always tried to stay blended in, not wanting to draw attention to herself. Guys walked around in jeans, t-shirts, suits, gym pants, the works....where as girls walked around in jeans, dresses, skirts and everything else under the sun. Nothing too out there, pretty much casual while still being nice. She looked down at her outfit, noting with satisfaction that in her dark blue skinny jeans, black tank top with lace at the bottom, red and white striped shirt and red flats, she fit in rather well. She fingered her necklace for a moment, the infinity symbol that she wore to remind herself of her family that was out there just as she was. Twirling her engagement ring around her finger as she walked, her mind drifted to those she was away from.
Heading into one of the shops that seemed to be a boutique with second hand designers in it she looked around, not really seeing what was in front of her, her mind back in the past. She thought about Alex first, her eyes showing an ancient sadness that would never go away. A large part of her felt as if she had betrayed him, for several reasons in fact. For one thing it had been her who had brought Alex into the alien abyss as Maria had more than once called it. It had then been her who had changed the future, a future in which yes 14 years from then their enemies had taken over, but according to Future Max Alex had been alive at 19. This should have been her first clue that it was Tess, since from the information she had Tess there and Tess leaving were the only two hard differences. Last but not least she felt as if she had betrayed him by voting no when the group was voting on Tess' future. Sure in the end it didn't matter since she had still gone to the military base, but either way Liz had voted against her death...even though she had killed Alex.
A red back with 'Love' written on it caught her eye. She looked at her tiny clutch before deciding to buy the bag, knowing it would be a lot more useful than the one she carried now. Paying for it and then just throwing her clutch inside it, wrapping the bag around her, she walked out of the store. Heading towards the bakery a reflection in one of the mirrors made her stop for a moment. She could have sworn that she saw…no...It was just her imagination. Thinking about Alex made her clearly start thinking about the others. There was no way that Maria was there...no possible way.
Losing the girl for a moment she headed across the street, yet she felt as if she was being followed so she turned around...and came face to face with an arms stretched out, grinning faced Maria. "RIA!" She called out, her eyes widening as she threw herself into the other girl's arms, hugging her for all that she was worth. Tears welled in her eyes and for once she let them fall. It didn't matter at that moment that they weren't supposed to be around one another, it didn't matter that it had been five years, all that mattered is for that one moment she wasn't alone in the world anymore.
She had her best friend with her at last.

-------------------------- [/b] --------------------------[/b] Seattle had never felt like home, not in the way that Roswell had but it felt good enough, she had been okay there. And beside she knew that there was no way she would be completely happy as long as she was not with the people she now considered her family. She could be anywhere under the sun and yet she could never be completely happy because her family was so far away from them. She could never fully be happy without Michael. Maria had always pride herself on being a strong woman but ever since she had lost Michael she felt like a part of her was missing. While their relationship had never been easy and had mostly been as far away from perfect as possible, it didn’t mean that she didn’t love him. He was still her everything and would most likely always be her everything. It didn’t matter how much they fought as long as they were together in the end.
But for some reason this small town felt more like home than Seattle had ever been. She had no idea why, maybe it just way somewhere where she needed to be or maybe she was simply going insane. It could clearly be the going insane part because let’s face it, she had been through so much recently that no one could stay sane through such a thing right? For a moment she wondered how her life would have been had she not meet with the aliens. She didn’t like to think about her life without them but the only good thing she could think of was that perhaps, Alex would still have been around. She still missed him, every day she missed him. She missed him in a different way that she missed Liz. She knew that she would see Liz again but she knew that she would never have the chance to see Alex again. That part of her life was gone. Alex was gone. She shook her head as if she was trying to shake the memories of her dead best friend away.
As she watched inside of the stores nothing caught her eye which was strange considering how much she loved to shop. But for some reason nothing looked pretty enough and kept walking until she finally saw her. Liz. The closer she got the more she was sure that it was indeed her best friend. This was a dream, it had to be a dream. There was no way that this was really going on. It was a cruel dream, Maria was sure that she would wake up alone in her bed in Seattle and there would be no Liz.
But as soon as she was next to Liz, she knew this was real, she threw herself into the girl’s arm. This was true, this was really her best friend. And for once Maria allowed herself to cry. When she left them behind she had tried her best to never cry, to never let herself feel weak because she had no idea how she would deal with this whole thing if she started to get weak but now she knew that she could get weak, she knew that Liz would be there for her to bring her back up to her senses when the time was right. “liz…is this really you?” she asked in a small voice afraid that she would wake up.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She felt the other woman's arms wrap around her and she squeezed tighter, feeling the other do the same. She knew that most likely they were causing a scene and while this should worry her since the whole reason to stay apart was to stay under the radar, but at the moment she couldn't care less. They had all been alone for so long and now to be reunited with her best friend...it was all the brunette could do not to cry. She and Maria had been best friends since kindergarten and had never spent any length of time apart other than the summer after the she-bitch known as Tess had shown up and Liz had run off to Florida. So to have five years gone by without anything other than a few random text messages, phone calls, and a couple e-mails here and there (which said nothing of substance in case they were intercepted), was just miserable for her.
"What are you doing here?" She asked quietly, hoping that nothing had happened to force her to run. She couldn’t help but check her over, making sure she was unharmed before looking directly at her best friend. She had aged from the pretty eighteen year old to the beautiful twenty three year old standing in front of her. Searching as much as she could for anything that could be wrong the brunette was relieved to find her friend in one piece. Apparently Maria had been doing the same as she asked her if it was really her.
Liz held up her hand in a motion that was well known of their friendship. “Calm down Ria, breathe.” She told her with a smile. “Yes, It’s me.” She told her softly, knowing that her best friend had a tendency to over react so wanting to put those thoughts out of her mind as quickly as they would come on. It was best to head off Maria’s rambling about things before they even started… a life time of friendship had taught her that.
“I’m okay, everyone’s okay.” She told her, well, not completely honestly, but honestly enough. "There have been a couple close calls over the past couple of years but nothing crazy worrisome. Everything is under control with the exception of the visions, and those aren't something I can control so I deal with them as they come along. Other than that it's been pretty quiet." She replied before tensing up. "What about you? Anything worrisome that I should know about?" She asked her, praying that the answer would be no.
Realizing that they were causing quite a scene as she looked around and instead make the quick decision to vacate the premises. Linking her arm with the blonde’s she pointed towards where they were heading. "There's a grill over there that seems popular, we can head there.” She told her, hoping that she understood why they needed to bolt. “Seems to me that there are some nosy people in this town and I don’t want to give them anything more to talk about if you catch my drift.” She added, just to be sure.

-------------------------- [/b] --------------------------[/b] Maria knew that she needed to let go of Liz but it was too good to see her again, she needed to keep her close. Soon they would be ripped away from each other again she just wanted to enjoy this moment but at the same time there were so many questions she wanted to ask. So many things she wanted to know. How was Liz? Had she heard from the others? What as she doing here? Was she really okay? Did they need to run? But right now she was freaking out too much to even think about asking those questions. She really needed to take a deep breath and calm herself down. But how could one calm down when you were face to face with your best friend in the whole universe that you had not seen in years? Another missing part of her, she could never feel complete without Liz. And now there she was finally.
What was she doing here? Now that was a good question if there ever was one. She didn’t really know herself. and what was she supposed to say? The truth of course, to anyone else it would sound insane but to Liz it would sound perfectly normal of course. “I don’t really have a reason for being here other than the fact that for days I’ve had this nagging feeling that I needed to get out, I needed to go somewhere so finally I took my car and drove, I had no idea where I was going and then BAM I’m here and there you are and oh my god this is so strange and great and scary.” Maria said in the same breath in quick words still clearly freaking out.
Finally when Liz told her to calm down she felt like she finally could. She took a few deep breaths before reaching into her purse and took out a tiny bottle of cypress oil and inhale the smell of it. Even if her mother had been away from her for so long she still had some sort of hold on her and Maria had still the cypress oil bottle with her since she had been a teenager. And right now she really needed it. She had half a mind to actually try and drink it for faster effect but she decided against it. “Of course it’s you, it really is you.”
“Everyone? Are other people around here?” she asked. Michael…was Michael around? Maria looked over Liz’s shoulder to see if anyone had been around with her but of course there was no sign of space boy. “The visions? Good ones bad ones? Are they bothering you?” of course they would be bothering her, what the hell was she thinking. “I’m okay, nothing bad.” Maria was just a human after all, whoever could be after them were far more likely to go after the aliens themselves then Maria the human.
“Sure and I could use something to drink anyway.” She said letting Liz lead the way to the grill where they were soon seated. “Tell me everything, have you been here long? What are you doing? Where is everyone? What close call?” she asked quickly as if she was afraid that they were running out of time. Perhaps they were running out of time. She wouldn’t be surprised if they were.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She smiled softly at her oldest friend as she seemingly on instinct moved to hide what she was saying. It almost saddened her how so many instincts that they had now where to keep themselves out of the spotlight and away from trouble. This didn't trouble Liz for herself because she had never been one who wanted to be in your face about things. Maria however had always had big dreams about seeing the world and being a house hold name with her music. Unfortunately those dreams were shattered it seemed the minute she fell in love with an alien.
“I know what you mean.” She whispered to her. And she did. There had been times where she had been driving and something about a particular sign on the highway had pulled her off her original course and took her to a completely new city. It wasn’t always clear why but it had happened more than once. She could clearly remember twice when it happened she ended up having a vision of Michael doing something reckless and having to give him a heads up not to do it in order to keep him from getting himself hurt or worse. She would never tell Maria that of course as she didn’t need her to worry, but it had happened more than a couple of times.
"There are other people here." She told her but whispered. "And I'll tell you everything, let's just get inside." She stated, wanting to get the hell off the streets so they weren't overheard. The last thing she wanted to do was draw attention to them so instead she kept quiet and headed towards the grill. Once the two were seated she quickly ordered her drink waiting for Maria to do the same before looking at her best friend once again. "Okay, I'll answer your questions, but I am going to keep things vague since we are still in public." She whispered, thinking of how she could answer without giving everything away. She knew that if Maria heard that Michael and everyone were back and why...she would wig out. So instead she figured vagueness but the truth would be the best course of action.
"Michael and Max are both here too." She told her. "They were both here for work. I ran into Michael first and then Max and Michael ran into each other, so Michael dragged Max over to see me." She stated, not telling her yet about Zan because she wanted to wait until they wouldn't be interrupted and she knew that until they had received their food they would be interrupted at least once or twice more. "Both are fine. I've actually kept in contact with Michael more than anyone only because he was the easiest to track down." She stated, not wanting to tell her that the reason that she had kept in contact with Michael was because she had had more visions of Michael doing something stupid than anyone else. She would wait until they had some privacy before revealing that particular secret.
"No weird dreams recently." She stated, not wanting to say the word 'visions' but wanting her to know that so far she hadn't seen anything that would warrant being worried. Maria worried enough for all of them so she figured that letting her know without saying the words would at least give her a bit of peace. "I've been here for about a month. Got a job as a Biology teacher. Ms. Claudia Smith." She stated with a laugh, but wanting her to know her alias in case they had to separate quickly...though she doubted that was the case. "Close call was actually over two years ago...I used my real name on accident. Won't make that mistake again." She stated in a whisper.

-------------------------- [/b] --------------------------[/b] Survival of the fittest or something like that, Maria would say when it came to how good they all were when it came to hiding themselves. It was sad but it was the only way they now knew to live. It was the only thing they could do. That can keep the hope that one day they would be back together and maybe then it would be safe. She didn’t know how long she would be able to stay here. She was pretty sure that soon enough she would have to run again. She couldn’t stay around Liz for too long, it could add attention to themselves and things would turn bad. No she could just enjoy this moment before she had to run away again. But she didn’t want to think about this now or she would just break down all over again.
Maria’s eyes grew wide when Liz said she knew what she meant and of course she had so many questions but she bit her tongue. Right now was not the time and place to talk about those things, she already felt like she had said too much, there was no need to add to that and beside what was she supposed to say? Are we meant to be here? Now that would sound too strange even for her. Maybe once they were alone she could go ahead with her usual Maria questions but not now.
Her heart almost jumped out of her chest when Liz said that other people were here. She needed to know who they were, was Michael around? Of course she needed to know this. She wanted to pretend like she was not on the verge of a Maria Crisis but the thought that Michael was here and that she might be able to see him, was almost too much for her to deal with. “just diet pepsi.” She told the waitress giving her a smile even though she just wanted to tell her to go away as fast as possible. She nodded. “vague is good.” Of course it was not good but it was the best that she could have right now so she was okay with that. She simply nodded and let Liz start to do the talking because she might exploded with too many questions right now.
And thankfully, Liz knew that and it didn’t really take long before she started to talk. When she heard the name Michael, Maria had to bite the inside of her cheek to prevent herself from running out and finding him. As much as she wanted to be with Liz, she needed to see Michael, know that he was really here and that he was actually fine. Just to know that he was okay, that he was safe. Maria gave her friend a smile at the story. Maybe a small town ws not so bad, they had managed to run into each other , it was a good thing. She doubted they would have had that luck had they been in New York or something like that. “Easy to track down? How is he? How is Max?” she asked quickly, afraid that soon she would have to run and that she would never get to speak to her friend again.
"Close call was actually over two years ago...I used my real name on accident. Won't make that mistake again." She stated in a whisper.
As much as she wanted to look over her shoulder and make sure they were safe and no one was around, she knew it was not smart, so she kept her head down. She let out a sigh at the mention of no weird dreams, she hated the fact that her friend was dealing with those things. It was part of who she was now, part alien or something but at the same time, Maria wished that Liz could simply be a normal human. “Claudia the teacher.” Maria mused out loud. “The kids are lucky to have you.” Maria was glad that her friend had managed to build a life for herself here. She was a bit jealous but then again, she had often been jealous of Liz so there was nothing new there.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She could almost see the desperate need for answers in Maria's eyes when she told her that there were others around. She knew that she needed to explain exactly what was going on but how did one explain it in enough detail to curb her need to know while at the same time protecting a shared secret that had been the only reason that they had stayed apart for all these years? It wasn't as easy to talk in code as one might think. Sure the code was easy enough...but making it look natural so they didn't draw attention to themselves was a whole other ball park.
Apparently Maria had picked up her comment about Michael being the easiest to track down and questioned it. Again, how did she tell her best friend that the love of her life had been reckless the past few years and had caused more than her fair share of visions, hence the brunette seemingly always knowing where he was? Yeah, there was no way that conversation could be had inside a crowded restaurant with people around them. She knew her best friend well enough to know that even though it had been five years since they had been able to spend any time together, that Maria was still Maria and that meant that she would freak out if she was informed about some of the dumb stuff that Michael had done over the past few years.
How did she answer her question without giving things away? She told a half truth…well, more a lie than a half truth…and she would apologize for it later…when they weren’t in a crowded restaurant. “I’ve had…dreams over the past few years of where specific people were.” She whispered, hoping that if anyone heard her they would simply ignore it. “And because of where he’s been I’ve been able to tell a bit better than others. They’ve been different than the normal places.” She stated, realizing that it was about as clear as mud but not being able to think of another way to explain it without coming out and saying it.
“Yeah, Max is fine. Got a bit of a shock a few days ago but other than that he’s good as far as I know. We really haven’t spent that much time together between him and Michael arguing, me and Michael arguing, Max and I arguing, and the shock that Max received…it’s been a hectic few days.” She stated with a laugh, though it was more of a grimace than anything else. Though her grimace turned into a genuine smile when Maria complimented her students on having her as a teacher. “Thanks.” She told her, a soft blush gracing her usual pale cheeks. “I actually wasn’t sure if I was going to like teaching being that I had always thought I’d be in a lab somewhere away from an audience, but I actually enjoy it. Well, I enjoy my Junior and Senior’s class since they are the ones actually interested in what I’m teaching…the Freshman and Sophomore class not so much, but only because it’s a required class for them so they aren’t really huge fans of the subject.” She told her with a laugh, taking a small drink of her drink before placing it back on the table.
“So what about you, what have you been up too these past couple of years?”

-------------------------- [/b] --------------------------[/b] This was a lot to take in all at once. Seeing Liz was already big enough to make her loose her cool but knowing that some of the gang was already here, it made her feel like she was running out of air. How long had they been here? Why where they here? Where they going to call her? Try to reach out to her? Or maybe it was an alien thing. She knew it was a wrong way to think but she could not help it. They had been over that discussion before and even if she didn’t want to feel left out she couldn’t help it. She pushed that though to the back on her head so she could focus on something else.
For some reason Maria had believed that Michael would have been the hardest to find. Maybe it was because she didn’t want to know that other people had seen him while she had been wondering if he was okay. But knowing that he was around made her feel better and worst at the same time. How was he doing? Had he found someone else? She didn’t want to believe that he had fell for someone other than her. She chewed on her lower lip not wanting to think about something like this. She was barely managing to not freak out right now and well thinking about it, would only made it impossible for her to not freak out. She took a few deep breaths trying to calm her down, still she could feel her heart beating into her ears.
She nodded. Again part of her was jealous about the dreams. She knew it was silly, she didn’t want to be an hybrid but at the same time, she felt like there was something that Liz had with the aliens that Maria didn’t. There was of course the fact that Liz and Max were soulmates, and there was nothing that could ever come between them. Those two had always been made to be together. It was sickening at times and yet she was happy for her friend. Especially now that she knew that Max was around. She had no idea how Liz had managed to hold on with Max, it was like both of them needed each other to function.
Maria frowned at mention of Max having a shock but that frown was soon replaced by a smile as she imagine her friends all arguing together. It sounded like old times at the crashdown. Back when even if their lives were complicated, they were still somewhat simple. At least simple with the things they knew now. For a moment she let her mind travelled to those moments, where they would just hang at the crashdown. It had been good times. But now she knew that things could be good to them again. She had found her family and they would figure a way to be all together again right? She listened to her friend telling her about her classes. “Who knows some of the freshman and sophomores might end up liking science and it would be all because of you.” She told Liz. She knew how much her friend loved science and if there was someone that could share that passion with you it was Liz.
Maria licked her lips. “Can we talk about the shock of Max or shall we wait?” she was of course dying to know but she knew there were things that could not be said right now. “Well I’ve been working on my music but never really got a big break, not since that time back home when they tried to change me into a bubble gum princess.” She shrugged.

"Are you shitting me!" Michael said to himself shaking his head as he looked down at his phone. "Yep.... Yep... " He said again nodding to himself, as he looked at the words on the screen. This must have been some kind of sick joke someone was playing on the Roswell group. No really. First Liz, Michael not even a minute later, and a week or so later, and here's Max... Maybe twenty seconds after and Liz finds Zan... literally she just up and finds Zan. The very kid that was put up for ADOPTION! For goodness sake.. adoption, and not only was he here, but he was newly orphaned once again!!! who's next? Isabel? Or maybe that Kyle kid.... Well... here he goes again. Honestly.... if he's not seeing one person it's another. Can't he walk outside his hotel room without seeing someone he knew... Dang. Small town or not.... they were clearly here for a reason.... creepy creepy shit was about to go down. Michael could just feel it. Creepy for sure.
So adjusting the gloves on his hands, he walked over to his bike parked right in front of his room. Michael was sure he'd be able to make it in time. Seeing as they were all going to hell, he might as well make sure he had a one way ticket. Getting on his bike, he placed his helmet on his head, and started the bike. He soon found himself racing down the road. The sleek black and chrome bike shinning brightly in the sun. Where as normally Michael would want to blend in, on his bike he stood out. You don't see such a nice bike like that around here. It was the top of the top. It was a one of a kind bike. It was the only thing Michael spend his money on. The rest he had saved. For one day he would use that money to find his dear Maria.
It took him a minute or two racing down town to the small little dinner Liz had texted him about. Michael's bike held quite the roar as he twisted in and out of traffic, moved through the cars, even jumping on the sidewalk at times. Naturally everyone had to look when he got close. Had a cop tried to follow him, they would have no chance at catching up. If Michael was not fighting for his life, he was driving cross country. He was an expert. The roar could be herd a mile away, the powerful engine wanting nothing more then to go faster then Michael allowed. Soon enough Michael pulled off in between two spots. He had recognized Liz's car, and he took part of her spot. Liz had texted and told Michael to get his butt down here. She gave him next to no information, which was normal. But annoying.
Getting off his bike he did not bother to disrobe. He was not planing on staying long. Rather he wanted to go sit back in his room drink a snapple and lose himself in the TV. Sulking in his loneliness. Stupid Max Liz and Zan being all family like.... pushing Michael out because he scared the darn kid. Pst. Whatever. With a sigh Michael walked in. As soon as he did so, everyone stopped to look. He was quite the looker. Not many people had the balls to walk around as he did. Not many people around here owned a bike. Michael was a bit of a comedy around here. His helmet still attached to his head. His tight leather biker gear fit his buff body all too well. Not a bit of skin showed, not a strand of hair. Head to toe. Michael scanned the room and found Liz sitting at a table. Though whom she was sitting with he could not tell. Their had been a wall blocking his view.
Michael had given up his hope of seeing Maria on his own. So it did not even cross his mind that Maria could be sitting across from Liz. He just did not even fathom it being possible. He figured it was that Kyle kid, or Liz would have given him some more info. Michael stopped just short of the table, looking right at Liz, his back slightly turned to the blonde women she was sitting with. "You called?" Michael asked in that deep voice of his. He was now concentrating on pulling off his gloves, hooking them around his black belt. Though a bright golden ring shinned bright along his left ring finger, giving the illusion he was married. The ring was simple, but very clearly some kind of marriage or engagement ring. It was clear that Michael cared very much for the ring, for it never ever came off. That much was clear. His finger was really one with his skin.
"I got here as fast as I could." He quickly added as he pulled the helmet off from his big old head. Still he ignored the person Liz was with. He did not so much care to see the Kyle guy. Shoot had it been Iz, well he was sure she would have said something when she herd the bike coming. Michael tucked his helmet under his arm, his short spiked hair shot straight up. Had his hair been long he'd have some real helmet hair. But it was too short to be effected by much.
Michael was only really easy to find because of what he did. The majority of the last five years Michael spent overseas fighting for his country. Fighting for the USA. Michael was a proper US solder. When Liz would see a vision, she would see Michael blown up in a desert, or hurt in the rain forest. One had to turn on the news to see the very same landscape. But besides that Michael choice to hide in plain sight. That was it. He was hiding sure, but he never changed much. Again he worked for the very government who sought him out to kill him. Not only that but Michael was quite a decorated solder. Even if someone did come after Michael, he had friends in very high places. Michael was sure with a simple phone call, he could get his true identity whipped off the face of the earth. It would be really very easy for Michael to just pick up a new one. He held favors with many people. Michael was smart about all this. Easy to find sure, but very very well hidden from thous he needed to hide from.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She could tell by Maria's silence that there was something that was warring inside her but she didn't say a word. She had a feeling she knew what it was but there was nothing she could do about it. She had seen that look, an almost haunted look within her eyes one other time...and that still rang out to her as one of the most memorable conversations with her best friend that she had ever had. She could remember them standing on the rocks, arguing, trying to figure out exactly what it was that was the problem with her best friend…and when she learned it blew her away.
Can you really look at me and say this?? I am most likely about to get killed, in twelve days, and what are you saying? You are saying that you are pissed off because you're not getting killed too. I don't know... I don't know... which one is better for me? You can see the future. Liz, please, tell me - hold my hand ...maybe you'll have a flash... just tell me... which one is better for me? Maria, Maria... Maria... Maria... Listen to me. You've got to stop. Okay? Who knows? Alright? I can see the future... and I have no idea. Look... maybe you just... you need to try and decide what you want, and then go get it. ...Okay?
Realistically she knew that Maria didn't want to be a hybrid...but that didn't mean that she didn't want to be included, because really, what person didn't want to be a part of something special? Maria wasn't blind to the issues that becoming whatever it was that she was had brought upon her, but that didn't mean that a small part of her wasn't yearning to belong. She thought about telling her that she understood, but she refrained, knowing that if her best friend wanted to talk about it that she would.
Before she could answer Maria's question about Max's shock she heard heavy footsteps before Michael in all his glory showed up, his back to Maria as he stared directly at her. She could see the ring on his finger that never left it and wondered briefly if he knew how much that particular ring had almost given her a heart attack after the stunt he had pulled a few years back that she saw thanks to her vision, however even if he did she doubted it would phase him. The two had become like siblings in the way that they bickered more than anything though they did always stand up for one another for the most part.
"Yeah, I called. You're slow." She told him with a grin, wondering if he was really that dense or if he was ignoring the woman behind him. She had a feeling it was the former, though she would take great fun in making fun of him later on for that. She patted his arm and nodded at the woman sitting in front of her. “I think someone would probably like to say hello to you.” She told him, her eyes showing that she was clearly amused by this situation.

Maria heard the bike like everyone in the restaurant. But she was still far too new around here to know that they didn’t get those really often. Still like everyone else, she twisted around in her seat to see the commotions. But all she could managed to see was someone dressed in black leather. She couldn’t see the person’s face and of course it freaked her out. People who hide themselves did it for a reason. A normal person would have taken the helmet off before getting in but not this once. She tried to hide herself the best she could behind the wall trying not to draw attention to herself. something she had been doing for quite some time now.
She looked over at Liz and yet the woman was apparently not freaked out in the least. She heard his voice before she saw him, her heart started to do double back flip in her chest and she was even more freaked out now than when she had been when she had thought he was someone else. She had no idea what to say. She had went through this moment a hundrends times in her head. Sometimes they would meet in the street and she would jump into his arms like they did in the movies. Other times, she would be coy with him, having the best come back, like back when they were in a high school. Othertimes she would just kiss him. And yet now that he was here there was nothing she could say.
Her eyes focused on him and he had yet to see her. Liz finally spoke making it quite obvious about what was going on. Of course Liz would have called Michael. She should have told her! Maria ran a hand into her long darkish hair trying to see how much of a mess it actually was. She had been driving for quite some time and she was pretty sure that she did not look her best right now. It was not how she had pictured their first meeting. Her eyes moved from Liz back to Michael as she tried to calm herself down. This was real he was really here. Wait was this real? Maria pinched herself and winched slightly yes it was real.
She wanted to find something smart to say, and yet no words could come out of her mouth. She had missed him so much, there had been many times where she had been sure that she was seeing him in the crowds but of course he was never there. Whenever she would hear someone call the name Michael she had too look, just in case. For the moment, all the questions she had for Liz where gone. She could barely remember what they had been talking about a few minutes before hand. It had something to do with Max but for the life of her she couldn’t remember.
And finally she started to speak. Only one word but it was the only one that she could say at the moment. “Michael.” And that was it. There was nothing else she could say because she felt like she was on the verge of crying again. And it would be an ugly cry something she didn’t want to do, something that Michael didn’t need to see. She would have never expected their first time seeing each other again would be in such a place but really it didn’t matter because he was here and it was all that she cared about.

"Ha." Michael said shaking his head at her slowly. "Slow my ass." He fired back as soon as he herd the word slow. Yeah, Michael was not slow, he got here in great time. Shoot he was sitting at home before, his hotel room was home. It was on the other side of town, h made it here quickly, too quickly. Shoot had Liz not called him and he was on his way, she might have gotten one of her freaky visions and called him telling him he had to slow down for being all reckless or whatever it was she called him. Michael made a face when she patted him on the arm. What was he five? She was acting quite weird about that one whats his face kid... if that's really who it was.
Still the fact that Maria was there, it just never passed his mind, he could not be so lucky. If there was a god it would never give him such a gift. Good things happened to Liz, Max... never him. He never figured Maria would show up here... never ever. Good things just don't generally happen to Michael. So where as Maria was always on his mind, he'd pretty much learned to deal with it that way. He was pretty dang sure he would not be seeing her like any time soon. So her memory would live in his mind.... he never figured she'd be here physically.
"Liz wh-" Michael began but stopped, his eyes got a little wider, confusing ran over his face as he looked to Liz. He knew that voice. He knew it so well, he dreamed about hearing that voice say his name again. Michael at first was sure he had herd it in his mind, that he was not really hearing it, but Liz needed him to turn around. He started to turn around, his movement very calculated. He wanted to make sure his mind was not going to play tricks on him... not again. Every girl he saw reminded him of Maria, even if they looked nothing like her, He could find a bit of Maria in everyone. And it hurt. It hurt to even look at Liz. Everything about Liz reminded him of Maria, and it sucked. She was forever and always on the forefront of his mind.
When he turned to see her, really see her, his breath caught in his chest. She was more beautiful now then he could have remembered. She had aged, but she wore it really well. His hand instantly moved to his ring finger, touching the ring that was so tight on his finger. He tapped it lightly, rubbing his finger along the soft band. Was it really... truly her? Was he seeing things again? He's face held no emotion what so ever. He just looked at her, his eyes glazed slightly from the tears that were forming, though Michael would never ever let one fall. No not here.
Michael glanced back to Liz, yes... that was Liz. Liz was there sitting there watching. Michael was here... Maria.... Maria was here. He ran hand over his head, expecting to feel his long hair, but he felt his short spiky hair. It kind of surprised him. He felt a little light headed to and he wanted nothing more then to sit down in this moment. His legs not really seeming to work. He took his helmet from under his arm placing it on the table, as he lowered himself onto his knees. Had their been a seat in his reach he would have grabbed it, but he did not think to look behind him. He did not really think. He just kind of acted. He landed on his knees, sitting back on his feet, now looking up at Maria, no words came to his mind. He had a crap ton to say to her, and he wanted to hug her and kiss her and hold her and never let her go, but all he could do was stare.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She should have realized that Michael was showing up as everyone in the damn place heard the loud motorcycle. She could see people around her giving him looks that clearly said that they didn’t approve…though whether it was his outfit, the loud bike that he drove, or his attitude of ‘not giving a flying you know what’ about what anyone said she didn’t know, but either way he had definitely made an impression on the small townspeople of Mystic Falls, something that she intended to berate him for later. They were supposed to be maintaining a low profile…he was the one who was supposed to be good at that!
Ugh, this man got on her nerves more and more every day…though again, she would do anything for him. For a long time they had simply tolerated one another because they were both important to Max. Michael was like Max’s brother, only blood kept them from being actual brothers, and Liz was Max’s soul-mate…so they had to deal with one another or it risked putting Max in the middle, an awkward spot that neither of them wanted him to be in. However over the years they had grown to genuinely care for one another, though that didn’t mean that they didn’t want to throttle each other on more than one occasion.
She could see the confusion in her best friend’s eyes when Michael walked up, only stopping when she heard his voice. She knew from the back (and from the front for that matter but that was besides the point) that Michael had changed a lot over the years so it was no surprise that the blonde didn’t recognize him upon first sight.
She had to admit seeing the two of them, realizing that each one was not a mirage but a full living breathing real life miracle in their eyes, was as adorable as it was humorous. She thought that Michael would have realized (being the military man that he was) that someone else was around, but he had seemed to ignore the other presence until she had pointed her out. However as soon as he turned to look at the blonde sitting across from her, she knew she had lost both of their attention for the rest of the afternoon if not longer. She thought about leaving but figured she would wait a few more minutes just in case they needed her. She knew this couldn’t be easy on either one of them and she wanted to keep an eye on things to make sure that they didn’t attract any unwanted attention.
She was nothing if not practical these days.
