This moment right here was far too confusing for her to deal with. Liz was here and Max was here and Michael was here but Michael was really physically here. Liz had told her that before but she had not expected him to show up. She felt like for some reason, she would not see him, almost like everything that Liz had said had not really registered in her mind. Of course Michael would show up at some point. She should have expected it but right now it felt like the floor had been taken from under her feet. Had she not been sitting down, she would have most likely fell on her behind. Her eyes travelled over Michael, not wanting to look away of fear that he might disappear.
Like herself, he had aged. He was not the teenage space boy she had fell in love with. No he had grew up, grew taller it seemed, or maybe it was just that he looked so tall from her angle. Still the change of time appeared on Michael and yet it was still him, the same eyes as before. The eyes that had seen and felt too much at a young age. He was there, fully there. Maria felt like they had been looking at each other for far too long, she had no idea if it had been minutes or hours. Thought in reality it had only been a few seconds.
Her eyes followed his every movements which was unfortunate as it broke the perfect moment. None of her senarios could have prepared her for this, a ring. There was a ring on Michael’s finger. How could the universe be so cruel, how could Liz her best friend be so cruel. Michael was married and Liz had not said anything to her and had called him here. Her emotions were getting mixed inside of her head and she had no idea what she was supposed to do. Her lips tighten together as she watched Michael fall to his knees. The young Maria inside of her head, wanted to reach out to him, hold him close, while the older Maria wanted to run. And older Maria was far stronger.
Maria shoot Liz a look before pushing on the table to move the chair backward getting up. “You can have my chair. I’m out of here.” She said quickly as tears filled her eyes. She was not going to cry in front of him, no right now she had already shed far too many tears on Michael Guerin and she was done. She took some money out and left it on the table to pay for her drink. “I’m going back to Seattle. Was nice seeing you again Claudia.” She said using Liz’s fake name. There was no need to get Liz into trouble for the things of the past.
How long had Liz known about this? Was this what she had been talking about with Max? Had Max found out about Michael being married and that had freaked him out? It seemed farfetched but really nothing could surprise her anymore. Quickly, she started to walk out of the restaurant trying not to cry.

Not many people could bring Michael to his knees. Just the sight of her had cased him to lose whatever strength he had. She should be honored that he would make a fool out of himself in public for her. Showing her he was truly devoted to her. He had showed Liz little respect, well he respected her but he'd never make sure a scene with her. There was never a need.... but He would make all the scene in the world for Maria. He would do whatever he could to please her, really. Whatever she wished him to do, he'd do. At this point if she handed him that butter knife and told him to stab himself in the heart he would surly think long and hard about it. He might actually do it too. Shoot that would be less painful then what she was doing right here.
It seemed as soon as his knees hit the floor in front of her, she pushed the chair back. Michael reached out to put his hands on her legs, but she stood before his hands got too close. Her words did nor really registered. He just watched, his mouth hung open slightly. Whatever she was doing, saying he was not so sure, all he felt was pain. It felt like a knife had gone right into his heart, and she Maria was holding it's hilt twisting. What had he done wrong? Had he said a different girls name? Impossible. truly it was. The only other girl he knew was Liz really. Of course there were few others but they did not matter in this moment.
Michael looked back at Liz totally confused, lost in his mind. What had he done, how can he fix it... what was wrong. He just did not understand. The ring was really apart of him, he never ever took it off, so it never crossed his mind that she had seen it and gotten the wrong idea. Sure it was a wedding band, a band with her name across the inside. This was his ring he wore for her, her memory. As soon as he found himself alone that first night he went out and got the cheapest ring he could find. Putting it on his ring finger, to remember her, to show everyone he was in her debt, so everyone knew he was off limits. He wore it for her, sure it looked like he was married that's how he wanted it. For he wanted everyone to know his heart belonged to Maria.
He just did not know what to do, and as she walked away his eyes went right to Liz, pleading for her to help him, to do something, to tell him what to do. But it was too late Maria was already halfway to the door. He could not help what came next. "MARIA!" He cried out struggling to get back on his feet. He could not allow her to leave him, not again, he could not handle it, not like this. "PLEASE!" He yelled after her leaving his stuff with Liz, he did not even care about it, he just could not let Maria leave, not without... without knowing why he had made her so upset. What he had done so he can change it, so he can fix it and make things better again.
He did not care that people were looking at him now, as he frantically moved about the tables, pushing whatever was in his way out of the way, spilling a few things, breaking some stuff, but he hardly cared to stop and look. Michael had saved quite a lot of money up, for Maria, for her. So he could give her whatever it was she wanted. He would buy her the world if she asked for it. So he'd pay for what he broke. But for now, none of it matter. It did not matter that people watching him, yelled at him cursed his name. He could care less that a scene was made, Maria was leaving and he could not let that happen. Never stand in the way of a man when a women was in his line of view.
He ran at top speed literally pushing people out of his way, taking the most direct path to her. Michael was in great shape so though he was very winded it was not from his small short run, it was from seeing her, his breath had caught, and he just felt like he was drowning, she had the effect on him. He could not help himself as he reached out and took hold of her upper arm, pulling her to a stop. His grasp was firm, it was clear he would not let her go easy. But he did not hurt her, he just needed to make sure she understood how much he needed her to stay. "Please don't leave!?" He asked, it sounded like he was almost pleading with her. Clearly he was ready an able to do whatever it was she asked. If her true wish was to never ever see Michael again, he's let her go. Of course he'd put up quite the fight, but if she still felt the same way, he'd leave and never see her again if that's what made her happy. He'd live, knowing he did everything he could to keep her. But he just could not let her walk out that door, he could not let her go, not yet.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She looked at Michael but for some reason something was wrong with her best friend. She could see the tears in her eyes and wasn’t sure what the hell was going on. However that’s when she realized something, that’s when she saw it. Shit, the ring…the ring that Maria knew nothing about but would think the worst anyway. Flinching when Maria stated that she was going back to Seattle and that it was nice to see her Claudia…yeah that one hurt. She hated that her best friend had thought that she had kept something from her or lied to her, but it wasn’t her place to try and explain what was going on.
She saw the look of desperation on Michael’s face as he called out to her. She noticed the looks around them as they were clearly drawing a scene but at the moment she wasn’t sure that she cared. This was not how this was supposed to go. This wasn’t how any of their lives were supposed to go! Jesus why did everything have to be so screwed up. First it was The Special Unit, then Nasedo, then Tess, then Kivar, then the reformed Special Unit…now it was each other. Would things ever settle down…would things ever get to what they had been before everything had gotten flipped around?
She wanted to call her best friend back and explain to her that it wasn’t what she thought but the words stuck in her throat. She had been the first to stand up to Maria back in Roswell, yet for some reason she couldn’t bring herself to move. She had ingrained it into her so deeply that she had to keep quiet, to stay low, that she couldn’t even make a scene when it warranted one. God was this who she had become?
“Go.” She croaked out to Michael but she doubted he heard her as he bolted towards the door. She stayed perfectly still, trying to shrink into the booth that she was sitting in. She wanted nothing more than to melt into the floor and pretend like this had never happened, but she knew she had to do damage control. Well no, she didn’t know that, but she felt as if she had to. She needed to get their shit together and eleven before anyone started asking any questions…because to be perfectly honest, Liz was scared to death of the consequences of said questions. “Check please.” She stated simply, gathering up her stuff as quick as she could so that as soon as she paid the check she could bolt.
Though whether she’d go out the front door to catch up with Michael and Maria…or the back door to run the opposite way and never look back…remained to be seen.

Maria was not seeing things clearly right now. She needed out of here. She needed to breath, she needed to scream she didn’t really know what she needed. Things had stopped making sense a long time ago. When you found out that aliens did exists it was hard to actually not feel like things didn’t really make sense but now, well it was far worst then anything she had ever felt. Michael was married. He had found someone, married her. Liz most likely knew and had not warned her about it. Or maybe Maria had been too quick to judge and Liz had not known. She had not seen the ring and was in the dark as much as Maria was. Perhaps she should stop and think about this for a moment but she couldn’t.
She knew she was most likely causing a scene but right now she didn’t care, she needed to get out. She needed to be as far away from him as she could. She didn’t want to stick around and get to meet this other woman. Who was she anyway? Her heart felt heavy. Was it Isabel? Michael had said that Isabel was like a sister to him but things could change, she had left Jesse behind what was to say that she had no came back and found Michael and decided to be with him. Perhaps they had decided to follow destiny. She couldn’t deal with this, she needed out of this situation. She was going to drive herself insane.
For a moment she wondered if she would be able to drive back to Seattle tonight. It would be a long drive. It would be dangerous to dry and do it. Maybe she should find a motel but out of this town. She didn’t want to stay here. She needed to put some distance between herself and Michael. But apparently he had other plans for her. Maria could hear the reaction of the people around her, she heard him scream her name, her real name. she almost froze in place. How could he be so reckless? She took a deep breath and almost stopped walking and turned around but she forced herself to walk. Even if this time around her steps were slower. Almost like she wanted him to be able to catch up with her.
And he did catch up with her, she felt the firm grip on her arm, forcing her to stop and turn around to look at him. She didn’t want to look at him, she knew that she would be weak once she saw him and of course as soon as she saw his eyes, she wanted nothing more than to let herself melt into his arms. She looked over his shoulder; where was Liz? Later. She looked back at Michael as he plead with her to make her stay. Which made nothing else than make her more mad at him. How could he ask her such a thing? Couldn’t he understand that she was still madly in love with him and seeing him with another woman would most likely kill her?
Maria wanted to run but she stood still. “Don’t ask me to stay Michael.” She said quietly trying to fight back the tears. “Why should I stay? So I can meet your wife? Have Tea parties with her? Be friends with her?” Maria let out a laugh which was more of disappointed laugh than anything else. “there are many things I can do Michael but sit back and watch you be happy with someone else is not something I can do. I wish you all the happiness in the world but I’m far too selfish to sit there and witness it all.” It was true, she did want him to be happy, even if it had to be with someone else. But she knew that she couldn’t bear to see it or even hear about it.
“Please Michael let me go.” She knew that she could move away from him if she wanted to. But as much as she hated to admit it, she was happy with his touch. She wanted more of it, but she knew it was a lost cause. He had someone else in his life and no matter how much she loved him, she was not going to be that girl. She would never be the girl that was the other woman.

He let out a small breath when she stopped to look at him, of course with his hand on her upper arm, she kind of had to. Okay so maybe she did not have to at all. But she very well could have snatched her arm back and out of his hand. She could have kept walking there was a lot she could have done. But she stopped, she turned and she looked at him. But when she looked at him, he was not sure what it was he saw in her eyes, but it was not what he was expecting. She hardly looked happy to see him. Whatever she was feeling it was a very negative emotion. He could not understand that. How... why... could she look at him like that. She loved him, Michael just knew she did.
"I'm here." He answered quickly over her, missing her next questions. He was just to eager to answer her. He missed the whole thing about his wife. But the questions that followed confused him. "What?" He asked he clearly had missed something. "Maria... what are you talking about?" He asked, his hand let go of her arm a little bit more, just a little. It turned into less of a please stay grab to more of an are you alright kind of hold. "What other women?" He asked the ring was so far from his mind, he did not even realize that's what it was all about. He just did not even think about it. That ring was apart of him, he loved it because of what it symbolized... but he had forgotten that Maria was not in one this. He just figured.... well he never thought about it.
"No. I'm not letting you go Maria." He continued, he kept saying her name for some reason. But her name has been lost on his lips for a while, and now that she were here he'd say her name more and more often. "I just got you back. I wont let you leave. Not with out at least talking to me." Micheal confessed. He kind of wanted to just throw Maria over his shoulder get on his bike and just go. He did not even need to go back for his helmet Lix would get it if anything. He just needed Maria, he just needed to at least get her alone. Something. But he would not let her walk out that door, not again. He let her leave once, and now that she was here, he was going to follow her, no mater what she said. Shoot she could say she never wanted to see him again, that was fine, Michael would make sure she never saw him, but he'd see her, he'd watch over her. He would keep her safe. But he would be there, he could not leave her, not again. She was just going to have to accept that.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She sighed, waiting for the check to get to her so that she could pay it and then bolt. She knew that she needed to get the hell out of this grill and head home. She needed to take a deep breath and get away from the craziness that had come when her best friend and her best friend’s lover had come into contact for the first time in over five years. She knew that she and Max had some drama to deal with but it was nothing compared to the over the top hysterics that Maria and Michael had displayed.
At least she and Max had the decency to do it in the privacy of her home.
Okay, so that was rude…but Liz had spent the better part of five years dealing with her fears of being caught by the Special Unit. It wasn’t that she was so much scared of what they would do to her (though she of course was after learning what they had put Max through in the white room) however that was just the tip of the iceberg. She couldn’t bear to have anything happen to those that she loved and she was deathly afraid that if the special unit caught her that they would somehow find the others…
Even if she hadn’t always known where they were.
The waiter finally came back with the check and she threw enough cash down to cover the entire bill and leave a substantial tip. She grabbed everything that was in the booth (which was Michael’s stuff as well as her own) and headed out the front door, depositing Michael’s stuff next to his bike that she could see parked and then headed to her own car. She wanted to go and help him explain what was going on to Maria, but she knew that they needed to work this out for themselves.
Michael hadn’t gotten involved in her and Max’s issues (at least not much) and she wanted to extend the same courtesy to them. She jumped into her SUV and pulled out of the parking lot, heading back to her apartment to what she hoped would be a quiet and peaceful few hours alone. She loved Zan and Max but she desperately needed some solitude to reflect on the craziness of the past few days.
After all, she had been alone for so long that alone felt like the new normal.

-------------------------- [/b] --------------------------[/b] He really didn’t understand what she was saying did he? Either that or he didn’t want to understand it. Was it because he understood that he had made a mistake of marrying some other girl? And if he did, what where they supposed to do? Was he going to get a divorce? Which would mean that someone else was going to get hurt. But in her own selfish way, Maria didn’t care if someone else got hurt as long as it was not her. She knew it was wrong and while she would never be part of anything with Michael if he was still married, she would break someone’s heart to get him back. It was selfish, and awful and something she would never tell anyone. But it was still there and she as still thinking it.
Maria couldn’t help but roll her eyes when he said that he was here. He was missing the point but finally it seemed like he was starting to get it, to understand what she was talking about. Or at least he was understanding that she was talking which was a start. “What am I talking about Michael? Really you can’t wrap your head around what I’m talking about?” this was really unexpected, how could he not understand what she was referring to? As far as she was concerned it was rather easy. She wanted to tell him about the ring, that she had seen it that she seen it and that he could not lie to her anymore but the words would ot come out. It was almost like if she said it, it would all make it real there would be no turning back after that.
“What do you want to me say Michael?” she said softly her hand reaching down to touch his. Her fingers running over the band on his ring finger. A few tears ran down her face. “There is nothing to say Michael. You found someone else and you married her.” She let go of his hand, her eyes finding his. “and while I am happy for you I can’t stay here and watch you be happy. I just can’t watch you being happy with someone else.” She said shaking her head at how stupid it sounded. “So if there is anything else you want to say before I leave now is the time because I don’t think our paths will ever cross again.” She said sadly. “I just hope that she treats you as well as you deserved.” No matter what had happened between them, she was still madly in love with him and she knew that he deserved the best. Yes he could be a jerk at times, sometimes more than just a times, but he had a good heart, she knew that. From the corner of her eyes, she could see Liz leaving. She would have to contact her, explained her reaction and maybe Liz could explain why she had felt the need to keep something that big from her.

"Maria, I have no idea what your talking about... or who planted some crazy ideas in your head." He stated, totally lost in this whole convocation. What in the world was going on. Why were they fighting.... where they even fighting? What was all this. He just did not get it. He had seen her for maybe thirty seconds after being away from her for five years and already she was pissed off at him for something... but what in the world did he do. Who was this girl she talked about... was she jealous that he meet Liz first? Micheal had no control over that it was totally random. If he could choose he would always pick her, over anyone and everyone. So what was her problem? He really just could not wrap his head around it. This ring was hers... he just did not realize he did not know that, or he might have spoken up.
He opened his mouth about ready to tell her what he wanted her to say. But her hand touching his distracted him, and he looked down. There she was her finger running over his wedding band, her wedding band. Micheal could not help the small smile that crept onto his face. Was this what was wrong? Was she so bend out of shape from this little ring. A symbol of his love for her. "Don't cry." He responded reaching up and wiping a tear from her eyes. But he would listen to what all she had to say. He knew her anguish would soon turn into happiness. He just had to get her to read his ring.
"Before you go... I just need you to do one thing for me. Just one." He asked holding her eyes contact and his hand went to work trying to rip the ring from his finger. He never took the thing off, so taking it off now was going to be quite troublesome. He might have to use his little gifts for a moment to aid him with the task. "All I need you do to, is tell me what this says." Michael said with the use of his gift he freed his ring from his finger. He held out the large band out to her, hoping she would just read it. Read the words for herself. She'd know then who this ring belonged to. It had her name on it. Her name and hers alone.
His smile grew a little brighter when she took the ring from his hand, she looked at it, and Michael waited a moment, before he read along with her, only it was from his memory. "Till the End, We are Together Maria" He spoke. It was what he had on his ring. Her name, forever, they would be together until the end. The end of all time, he'd be with her. Michael just hoped she put two and two together and realized it was her the ring talked about not some other random Maria. The world was not that small a place.

Was he really that dense? Couldn’t he understand what he was doing to her? Michael had hurt her in many ways in the past but nothing quite like this. Was he really toying with her like this? She didn’t think he would do such a thing. Michael could be mean at times but he had his limits. She just wanted to go back to Seattle and move on. Or maybe just move back. Move back into her life and her old habits. She should have known things were too good to be true. It was too much happiness for one person. Seeing Liz should have been enough, having Michael had been wonderful but it also had been too good to be true. And this was the way the universe had decided to get back at her for believing something that good could happen to her.
When Michael reached over to wipe away her tears she wanted to move back. Move away from him. Instead she almost pressed herself into his palm, enjoying being close to him again. Don’t cry. How could she not cry when all of her hopes and dreams were coming crashing down on her and there was nothing she could do to stop it? She looked up at him confused. Why was there a smile on his face. She had missed that smile. And yet there was something not right. Something that she did not understand properly.
When he told her he needed her to do one thing for her, she just nodded. No matter what, she couldn’t say no to him, even if she wanted to slap him even if she wanted to scream all the rage she had to his face. She could do one thing for him. one last thing. The last thing she would do for him. She felt her heart beating its way out of her chest at the thought of one last thing. She raised an eyebrow at his request. He wanted her to read the ring; he wanted her to actually hold it. Still she held out her hand and took it from him. She looked down at it for a few seconds before she decided to actually read it. It sure was a beautiful ring.
Maria read the inscription on the inside and felt like her knees were going to give up on her and let her fall down on the sidewalk. It was something one would usually see in movies and Maria would have never though she would do it. Her hand reached over to Michael for support. “Mike…” was all she said looking up at him, her eyes showing love, confusion, happiness. Again she cried but this time it was not because she was sad. “oh Michael. I…I’m so sorry…” she had doubted him and all this time all he had wanted was her.

He waited patiently until her mind process what she might have read, or herd. He was not 100% sure she would read it, so he spoke the words, hoping that his words would at least make her look it if not read it. That's really all he needed her to do, read it. It would take all her pain away, make everything better, just solve everything. She just had to read it that's all. Simple. She never had to get so worked up if she only learned to trust his love a little more. Sure Michael was well Michael, but if he told you he loved you, he loved you. Period. No questions, done. That was it. He was not really the one to cheat.
And it had sunk in, he smiled a little brighter, holding out his hands to support her when she reached for him. Michael pulled her closer, wrapping his arms around her holding her to him. God he missed this feeling. Just being able to touch her. Just being close to her, just having his other half so close. Shoot she was more then his other half, she was literally him. She was his everything, and she always would be. He lived for her, he worked for her, he did whatever he had to to do make sure she was safe. Micheal would do anything for her. Anything to prove his love. Shoot the only way he was able to truly prove his love to her was to go make out with a dude, he'd grab the next one walking by and go at it. Anything. Anything at all she just had to ask.
He hoped she might now understand his devotion to her. Hopefully now she could see a little deeper into his life without her the past five years. How he acted as if he were married to keep the other women far far away. To keep the temptation from his eyes. It was a lonely life, his 'wife' always on tour, on a business trip whatever. He always made up excuses why none of his buddies ever once got to meet his wife let alone see a photograph of her, when they were not in high school. How he always had to lie about how happy they were together, and make up stories about him leaving on vacation to see her, when really he locked himself in his apartment never leaving, or he took a trip out to a random city and never left his hotel room. Whatever. But even know she was so far out of his life the last five years, she was really the center of his world.
"Sshhh" He said, hugging her with one arm. His free hand moved up her, stopping only on the back of her head. He pushed lightly letting her lean her head on his chest. "You had no way to know." He spoke, letting his hand brush back some of her hair, tucking it behind her ear, comforting her the best way he knew how. "I would have reacted in the same way." He added for reassurance. If it were opposite situation surly he would have reacted worse, much worse. There would be fires, lots and lots of fires, the whole building would have been one large explosion. Even know Michael had much better control over his ability, still in such a situation he'd never be able to control it. Not when it came to Maria.

This…this ring. How could she have even doubted him? How could she have doubted everything they had? While they never really had it easy and had fought tooth and nails to keep being together, she knew that they loved each other deeply. Why hadn’t she seen it coming? Maybe it was the fact that she had been away from him for so long and she knew how much people could change over time. Maybe it was because it had been one of her worst nightmare and it was coming true and she had no idea which way was up. Maria could barely look him in the eye. How could she after what she had just accused him of?
She let him hold her close as she took the time to breath in his scent. It had been so long since the last time she had been able to be close to him. The shirts she had kept of him had long lost the scent of Michael and even as she slept in them every night, she had tried to find a little part of him in it. Maria hoped that Michael understood that she was sorry, she should have asked questions before she freaked out. But at the same time she also wanted him to understand where she was coming from. How would he have reacted if things had been twisted around and she had been the one with a ring on her finger?
Maria wondered how people reacted when he talked about this wife. Did he had someone he trusted that actually knew what was going on? Or was he forced to live this somewhat lie all by himself? it pained her to know that just like her, he had been alone. She rested her head on his chest finally letting go and letting herself cry just a little. But they didn’t have to be alone anymore, finally they could be together. “I should not have doubted you.” She told him with a small smile when he told he would have reacted the same way. It was good to know she was not completely crazy. That he really did understand. She slightly move away from him but only so she could look up at him. Her hand moved to touch his face.
“What now?” she had just gotten here and her car was parked waiting for her. She had not gotten a hotel room yet but since Michael had been here for at least a few days she believed, he most likely had a place of his own. “Should we get out of the street and find another place? Somewhere where we can talk?” they had a lot to catch up on but she knew they would need the privacy to be able to talk. They couldn’t take the chance of having someone hearing them.

He did not want her to cry. Even know he could tell she felt badly about accusing him of being unfaithful, he understood. He got it. It has been five years a lot can change in five years. Even love. People fall in and out of love each and every day. Micheal could have fallen out of love with Maria. Who knew. Five years was a long time. If it had been her with a ring, he would have jumped onto the same wagon. He might not have pointed a finger at her, he would have understand. People had needs and he would not be able to tend to any of he needs while he was gone in the five years. She would have to seek it out. If she fell in love while she was at it, then he'd understand. That did not mean he'd ever fall out of love with her. But if she was happy he'd let her go. That's all he wants, her to be happy and have the world. That's what he'd give her, if given the chance.
"You didn't know. I don't blame you for you reaction." He answered her hoping that might make her feel a little better. Really. She had no idea. She saw a ring and assumed he had gotten married. It was a logical assumption. He could not fault her for being human, for thinking how anyone would think that way. He could say nothing more then that. All he could do from here is hold her, hold her until she did not want to be held any more. So that's what he did. Held her tight to his chest, his head resting on top of her head, her hair filling his nose as he breathed softly.
But she of course pulled away, and he had to let her. As much as he wanted to hold her forever, if she wanted to end this, he had to let her. He would not keep her in his arms if that's not where she wanted to be at that moment. He offered her a small smile, and a bit of a shrug. Where to now? What now? "You tell me." He answered. She clearly knew where he stood in their relationship. In his mind he was married to her. So now what... that was up to here. Anyway what did she mean by what now. Literally what now? Or what now in their relationship. What now in what sense? Michael had a job, and though now he'd never leave without Maria, there were things he'd have to do, places he'd have to go to continue his work in the military.
"If you'd like. We can go back to my hotel room?" He questioned. In all reality Michael was just passing through. He was not planning on staying here at all. He had stopped for gas really, and then while he was stuck at a traffic light he almost ran over Liz as she ran up to him. Michael got a hotel room as soon as he found Liz. They had a lot to speak about. Micheal lived in hotel rooms, he never had a place of his own. He lived out of one signal large army grade duffel bag. That was it. It was a life on the road. But it worked for Micheal, or it had. Now with Maria and everyone seeming to gather here in Mystic Falls he'd have to figure out a way to stay in this small town. Even if he had to drive an hour or two to get to base twice a day. He'd do whatever that made Maria happy.

Maria knew that she would find a way to make it up to him. To make him see that she had never meant to hurt him, to not trust him. Even if he would have reacted the same way, it didn’t make it right. So soon she would find a way to make it up to him, to show him the dedication she had for him. She wanted him to know she loved him just as much as he loved her and that she needed to be with him, that she wanted to be with him. There had never been anyone else. Even when she had tried to force herself to go on dates it never worked because at the end of the night, the only person she wanted to be close to was Michael. Until right now she had never really realised how much of a lonely life this was. She had been okay living in her own loneliness until now. But now that she could know what she could have, she didn’t want to let it go. She didn’t want to let him go.
“you may not blame me but it still was not the smartest thing I have ever done.” She knew that they would get over this. It was not as big as some of the other things they had encounter in their relationship. As far as she was concern this was in no way shape or form something she could compare to the time where Courtney had entered their lives and had pretty much drove them so far apart that Maria had stopped believing they could ever get back together. Fortunately they had managed to get over that like everything else that had happened before. This right here was just a little bump in the road. Something she could easily get over.
She had missed that smile so much. She wanted to see Michael happy and knowing that she was the one who could make him feel that way made her feel so much better. She didn’t know what they should do now. They needed to talk and figure out what their next move would be. She didn’t even known what he did for a living. She was just a waitress, she could do that anywhere in the world. Thankfully Michael proposed something before she could try and figure something out. “you are living in a motel room?” she asked him curiously but nodded. “yes I think that would be smart. I could follow you there or something?” she proposed
“I want to know what you have been up to. I want us to figure out what we want to do now, I mean I think we both want to finally be together again but there are still a few details that needs to be talked about.” There would be the whole where are we going to live thing. Maria could easily move anywhere he wanted. Though she would much rather stay here since Liz was here and she wanted to be close to her best friend.

"We all make mistakes." He corrected her. "Passion tends to rule reason." He reminded her. His words surprisingly insightful for well Michael. But he has had quite a hard life. He has traveled the world and picked up a few things from a few places. Though he is still clueless to just about everything, he does have his moments. Now much have been one of those moments. But back to what he had said. Her passion, for him over ruled all reason. She jumped right at him, her anger taking hold of her, her reason had no chance. She was who she was, no more and no less. If he would have known Maria was the women he would see today, he would have taken off the ring talked to her a bit first, before he threw it at her. But he had no idea, the ring was also such a massive part of his every day life, it was apart of him. So knowing him he might have forgotten all about it. Him mind would have been on other things.
"I was just passing through, figured I'd stop for the night get some rest. Turned out this town had a lot more in it then originally expected." He replied with a small smile, as he gathered his things, putting them on his body where they belonged, like putting gloves over his hands. "It's not far, if you maybe... wanted... to ride...with me?" He asked holding out his helmet for her to take. If she wanted to drive he would understand. It's been a while since they have seen each other and it might be moving a bit fast to hop on the back of his updated, tricked out bike. But that was Michael. There would be no need to drive really.... He could hold two, and there were two of them, and it's not like he wanted to leave her side. So... why not?
The best that could happen would she'd take the helmet and get on his bike, holding him, like she used to. The worse she could say is no, she'd meet him at the motel, that was really not that bad. He could handle that small rejection. Anyway he just kind of had to offer, he'd feel bad if he missed this opportunity. She very clearly knew how he felt about her. He would jump back into it, he'd marry her right here on the spot. All this was kind of in her hands right now. His whole life was in her hands. Shit he'd drop whatever he was doing, sell his bike for her. Well... to sell his bike that might take a little bit of... begging, but he'd do it if it meant getting back with Maria. He'd do just about anything. It was all out of his hands and in hers. But he had some kind of weird twisted faith he held onto now a days.
It was funny really. Most people would prey to some kind of god, but Micheal found Maria's name being placed in front of most everything. If he was in a corner he'd whisper to himself for Maria to save him. If things got a little to crazy and out of control, Maria's name would be on his lips. The longer he was without her, the more he placed her in his life. The more he'd make up stories, the more he'd talk about her, the more he found a way to keep her alive, even when she was long since dead to his world. He just found a way. Basically if she would ever step food any where near his place of work, she would be quite well known. Some lies would be told about her, but he could not help it, the more he talked about her as if she were in his life the better he felt. He could hardly say he did not know what his wife was doing. Of course that would change and she's surly understand.. but still now that she was here, it would be weird for her to find out how much her name came up in convocation over the years.

Maria couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at his words. Since when was Michael so…deep? Now it was not that Michael was stupid or anything like that, it was just not something she was use to hear him say. And he actually had a point, she had reacted the way she did because at that moment it was impossible for her to even think properly, she had been unable to reason with herself. as far as she could see Michael had meet someone else and she could not deal with that. It was too much for her to deal with. She had already lost him once when they had all gone their separate ways, she couldn’t bear to lose him to another girl. Her heart could deal with never seeing him because it was for the best, because they needed to be apart to be safe, but not being able to be with him because he had found someone else? It was not something she could do, not something she wanted to do.
Even when they had been apart he had been her everything, still in her mind. Sometimes she felt like she could feel his presence around her. Like he had never really left her. When she was alone in her apartment she would talk to him like he was still there, like he was still around her. Almost as if he was just in the other room and she would soon hear from him. Of course she never got any answers. He never was in the other room. When someone would call the name Michael her head would always shoot up hoping to catch a glimpse of him. She would have given anything just for one moment with him and now, the universe was giving her a chance to have him completely to herself. she doubted that it was going to be forever. She didn’t want to even think about this because if she had to lose him again, she had no idea how she was going to deal with that. She didn’t even think she could deal with it. No she needed him around her.
“I guess we both were just passing through this place” she said quietly because just like himself she had not been suppose to stay. But it was not like she was going to leave now. Liz was here and Michael was around there was no way she would leave this place. She wondered if Michael was going to stay here or if he was going to leave. then what would she do? Could she follow him? But at the same time it would mean leaving Liz behind and he was not sure if it was something she could do. She looked at him when he asked her if she wanted to ride with him. It would be simpler to take her car, her stuff was in there and if she did ride with him, it would mean he would not be wearing his helmet and yet she could not help herself as she reached and took the helmet from him. “of course I will ride with you.” She told him putting the helmet on.
It was not the smartest decision but right now she needed to be close to him. she knew that they would need to have a conversation that might not be pleasant as they would need to figure out where they were going, what they were going to do. But she didn’t want to think about those things, she simply needed to be close to him, enjoy his presence. She knew that if he was to tell her he had to leave and she would not be able to follow, she would be devastated. She didn’t know what she would do, what she would say. The best thing they could have was that they would be able to stay here that she could have her boyfriend and her best friend around and that soon enough the rest of the gang would join them. Maria sat down on the bike and waited for him to start off and drive down the road. .
