-------------------------- -------------------------- Dawn had left the house early in the morning that day to finish up her homework and do some extra studying at the library since she had the day off. She had gotten up that morning, showered, dressed, ate some breakfast, and then left in her car for the library. She knew it would be quieter there then at the house. Things were always happening and she needed the time to study and do homework. She was sure Buffy didn’t mind. She left a note in the kitchen saying where she was in case anyone needed to get in touch with her, which she hoped no one would have to. She just recently had gotten a new phone as her old one broke when she was in Rome before coming to Richmond.
So she left the house and headed to the library. It wasn’t a long drive so she got there soon. She locked her car like she always did. She didn’t want any surprises when it was time for her to leave and not meaning someone stealing it. So she made it to the library in one piece. She found a nice place to sit and did all of her homework which took a good four hours. She decided to take a break and grab something to eat. She got fast food and ate in her car at the library. She was trying to use all her time wisely. You never know when something would happen. Right?
So she was back in the library. With her homework all done she was just studying now. She poured herself into her studies. Hours and hours passed. Soon her phone buzzed as it was on vibrate. So she didn’t know if someone was calling or just sending a text. She picked her phone up and looked at it. She opened the text message icon and the words one new text showed on her phone. She wondered what was going on at the house or if everything was okay and someone was just checking up on her. She noticed the time and couldn’t believe how late it was. The library would be closing soon.
She opened the text and as soon as she read it her eyes went wide. She gathered her books and such and just randomly threw them into her backpack. She hurried to her car and threw her backpack into the back. She turned the car on and took off almost hitting someone in the process. She didn’t care though because her sister Buffy was in trouble. She needed to be there, she needed to help. She wasn’t going to be sitting on the sidelines while her sister was in danger. She was driving way too fast but she finally made it to wherever everyone else is. She put the car in park and got out not even locking the car. Her brain was on auto pilot right now. Where is she she said running over to everyone.
She soon saw the body though and she stopped. She felt like her heart just stop. Tears ran down her face as she stared at Buffy. What happened she screamed at them. This was Buffy, her invincible sister. Buffy please she said sobbing now. She didn’t want to lose Buffy again. She couldn’t, not after everything they had been through. -------------------------- WORD COUNT: 558 TAG::Scoobies Gang OUTFIT::OMG! CLICK HERE! - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - The ride seemed to be taking forever despite the fact that both Connor and Angel were driving like crazy people. Perhaps it was the fear of what they might find that made it seem like it was taking so long. While Buffy and Faith had despised each other for years, they'd recently come closer since Sunnydale. If Buffy wasn't here to help with the potentials...well she'd get over it, but she wouldn't be happy about it. All of those girls and just Faith didn't sound like a great plan. Death never took Faith very hard, but that wasn't because she didn't care. More so it was simply because she was a warrior. To her, their life was war, and there was bound to be casualties. She would mourn her sister slayer but she wouldn't fall into pieces like the rest of them. If anything she'd be picking up the pieces, trying to go on in her honor.
Her eyes flicked to the side to look at Connor as she spoke, and she honestly couldn't help that her jaw dropped a couple of inches. "Damn..." she simply said, for lack of better words. However she didn't push for details but instead simply nodded. She wasn't one to pry and doubted it was something he wanted to get into right now. By the looks of it they were nearly there anyways as she saw a vast opening without trees ahead of them, and best not to get in it right now. A fist through the face though? And Fay Girl? She'd definitely be asking about that later. Faith nodded to his statement about staying in the basement. That was good, maybe she could mend things between them... As the car came to a stop, both her and Connor flew out of the car like bats out of hell. They moved to where the rest of the group was standing...standing right over...Buffy. No... And for a moment, a lump grew in her throat. How did we let this happen? No, B... She didn't weep like the rest of them. Not because she wasn't distraught, as she was, but because someone needed to stay strong. Seemingly out of nowhere, little sister joined the group and began freaking out as well. Faith was at a loss of what to do. Hammer in hand, she looked around the field but didn't spot the woman they came here to fight. She did, however, spot the hordes of other demons scattered throughout the field. Many of which, were making their way over to the group. Not being one to show much emotion anyways, she gave one last look to her fallen sister before going into action. The rest of the group was surrounding Buffy and she knew that sooner or later, the demons would make their way over there. Well, she was going to meet them before they had the chance. If there was anything she could do to help in this situation it would be to fight off the approaching demons, and that's just what she did. Troll Hammer in hand, she dove into the frey. She took off on foot and sprinted about thirty yards out, meeting a large demon with tentacles. She swung the hammer and knocked it on it's ass, before she felt something at her side. Without looking she swung the hammer behind her, hitting the hidden foe as well. In front of her a tentacle swung up from below and latched onto her arm. Bringing the hammer up over her head, she came crashing down on the tentacle and watched as the demon shrieked and it's arm fell to the ground. This was the only way she knew how to help and it had to be worth something. Hopefully the rest of the group would be able to manage, and hopefully someone would join her in this fight. Faith was badass, but there was no way she was taking on all of these demons alone. As she fought with tentacles and another horned demon, she was swarmed in every other direction.[/blockquote] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ::TAG:: Scoobies::OUTFIT:: Click here for Faith's outfit. As they pulled up, Connor tried to ignore the snake of doubt coiling low in his gut. There was something wrong, more than simply the flash of peroxide upon their arrival. As much as he would love to send William the Bloody into the wind, other things took precedent. Hopefully the childish vampire had enough decency to act like a mature human being, but vampires were always a little gray in that department to begin with. Let alone the antics of the English vampire perpetually acting out to prove he was half the man his Grand-sire was, it could go either way. With a shake of his head, Connor parked the car and flew out of the door, unsure who the young woman who showed up was. While everyone crowded around a crumpled form, Connor felt his blood turn to ice.
Buffy…
It was obvious with how everyone grieved as to the identity of the poor discarded soul in the empty field was. Cut puppet strings, broken china doll… Connor felt the edges of his mind groan as dual memories tugged at one another. The lines were beginning to blur, stitches of real and magic made lives coming undone with the first few pops.
NO!
Not here, not like this! He refused to break down, crumple at the feet of the fallen Knight Sister when Hell itself waged against the walls. He didn't need to know the how or why of his childhood, the missing puzzle pieces held no purpose here. He was needed. At once, Connor Reilly fell away, the mask of civility had no purpose in this place of Death. Steven Holtz, The Destroyer knew how to best aid the mourning. Eyes narrowing, he surged forward, face a storm cloud of emotion. He had made up his mind, set his name to a purpose greater than one man's broken heart. Looking to Willow, he tried as hard as he could to open his mind to the telepathic witch. If she could hear him, maybe she could pass the message along.
Buffy wasn't there upon the ground. That was a Shell. Buffy was beyond Death. For Death could not claim someone so loved. Love was beyond Death's reach. And so was she. She was the strength in their hearts, to turn back the darkness. She was a martyr, whose cause they could not forget. You honored a Warrior's memory by fighting. So we fight. For Buffy…
They were coming…
Without thinking, Connor leapt into the fight at Faith's side. Grabbing one demon by the back of his neck and throwing him at his fellows. Anything to keep their filth away from those who needed time to find themselves through sorrow. It would be their sworn duty, Faith and Connor, to keep the others safe. A snarl had him spinning, foot lashing out in a violent kick so very much like his father. They would Hold the Line with their dying breath. For Buffy… Without thinking, pure reaction. Giving into the vampiric blood deep within. Not caring if he moved faster than a human should, not a care as to how hard he hit or the growling echoing in his chest.
For the first time since Quor'thoth, The Destroyer Blood Frenzied.
::stop:: This would have been up last night if I didn't black out post-BD. Ash love, since Willow's been telepathic before, feel free to read Connor's mind. ^w^ ::look:: Outfit ::listen:: Losing My Religion by R.E.M. ::you're it:: Scoobies ::the credit:: Jess <3

And from the silence that Spike had felt just moments ago, pure chaos erupted. Bear in mind, Spike had seen chaos at some of its finest moments—a Hellmouth blowing up, Los Angeles being overrun by demons and dragons, other too numerous to name. But this was some kind of terrible mistake. What the bloody hell was happening? Demons all over the hell and gone, some that Spike didn’t even imagine could be real. A circle of mourning people. The body of a limp Slayer. It seemed hard to piece it together, like those three things couldn’t be connected in the blond vampire’s head right now. But in the back of his mind, a set of words kept buzzing, a woman’s voice—Buffy’s voice. I've died because that's what a slayer does! We live in the dark and we fucking die!But still, the Brit didn’t believe it. He couldn’t go through this again. He didn’t want to count days and spend nights watching her grave, thinking about all the ways he could have saved her. If all was still and quiet, perhaps he would have allowed himself to collapse, turn inwards and grieve. But Spike could now hear quite clearly the screams and growls that weren’t of this world and could feel the heat of fire on the back of his neck. This wasn’t the aftermath of a battle—the fight had just begun. On the fringes of his vision, Spike could see the dark-haired Slayer and Angel’s ‘son’ already waging war on the invading creatures, and though part of him desperately wanted to be at Faith’s side, something pulled him away. A promise. He simply had to hope she would understand. Let the Pup have his day. He probably deserved to have one. But he was somehow in front of his Grandsire—with the only explanation that he had unconsciously moved to that point. He knew exactly why. Spike didn’t even attempt to look down at the woman cradled in his arms—no, that would break him. Instead, he did what no one else had the gall to do. ”Angel.” The Brit muttered down to the other vampire. He knew Angel wasn’t about to let him anywhere near Buffy, so Spike was going to make damn sure that his sodding Grandsire was going to stop sobbing and protect what was left of her, ”Get up.” Perhaps hate would be stronger than despair, ”Go.” As demonic beings themselves, Angel and Spike probably had the best idea of what would happen if one of the ravening hordes got their hands on a defenseless Slayer. And that was the last he could do there. There was something else that he had promised long ago, and if Glory was still stamping around in the background or among the writhing pits of hellspawn, he knew it was only a matter of time before she confronted them. Regardless, in this scenario, it fell to Spike to be Dawn’s guardian. Sorry, Darling. I have to keep her safe.He couldn’t say why the Slayer’s little sister was there, but there she was, and just as empty and torn apart as all of them. A little hysterical, even, but with every right to be so. Then again, with more than half of their little troop giving way to their tears, the blond vampire was even more assured in his role. In an instant, he was on a demon that had strayed a little too close to the girl he was protecting, using the butt of the shotgun to throw it off balance before firing off point blank. Spike cocked the gun and backed up towards Dawn again, glancing at her out of the corner of his eye, ”Stay close, Little Bit.” His tone was stone cold, but there was an underlying sense of begging. How many times had he cried over the body of a Summers woman? As long as he was walking this earth, Dawn was not going to be one of them. He was a bleeding Champion after all. This is what he did. +++ TAGS: Scoobs WORD COUNT: 680... 663 minus Buffy Quote, written by Britt!! NOTES: OMG. So many emotions. Can't even... ugh. T_T

Although Willow had spoken to him, he hadn't been paying enough attention to hear what she'd actually said. Everything in the background had blurred away. All sounds and noises were distant and faint. The only thing he could see was her, the slayer he loved and her cold, dead eyes...and it broke him. Another figure appeared and stood next to the witch, that he could see out of the corner of his eye. However he didn't turn to meet them. Instead he continued to hold the fallen slayer in his arms. So badly he wished that he had oxygen to give her...and yet at the same time, he knew that even if he did, it wouldn't have helped. She was already gone..her body was starting to grow cold, and he wasn't sure how long she'd been like this. Bodies didn't usually go cold this quickly and he knew she couldn't have been gone too long. Perhaps it was because of the temperature outside..Regardless, his hand on her back caressed her skin, as if attempting to give her some form of comfort and warmth.
How could this have happened?
How could they have all been so careless to not have noticed her disappearance sooner? Why hadn't they been more offensive and gone out to find Glory? Instead they'd simply waited at the Boarding House for whatever she was going to do. They'd sat there night after night like sitting ducks, hoping that nothing would happen. And not it had...and her blood was on all of their hands. However to Angel, it felt to him that most of it was due to his carelessness. He should have stayed by her side at all times...he should have slept in the floor in her room, where he could have kept an eye on her. They'd watched carefully over Dawn..but had forgotten to think about the fact that the two girls shared the same blood. And now, the slayer was paying the price for it. And they were all paying their own price as well.
The slayer's little sister approached, and Angel felt as if he should hand Buffy over to her. As if she should get her own time with her. However...Dawn seemed to distraught to think of much other than her own sobbing, and Angel didn't want Buffy to leave his arms. He didn't want her to leave him...never.
How did you find me here? If I was blind, I would see you. Stay with me. Forever. That's the whole point. I'll never leave.
And yet it wasn't forever. She'd left him...and he'd allowed it to happen. But he would keep his promise to stay with her for as long as he could, until the time came when they pried her away from him. He would stay with her for as long as he was allowed to...He couldn't stand the possibility of her being out of his sight.
Sounds of fighting rang through his ears, and he knew the battle was getting closer and closer to him at this point. Spike's voice brought him out of his own thoughts, out of his despair. Tear riddled eyes looked up to the vampire and nodded. They'd finally agreed on something..if it wasn't such a heart wrenching situation, they should have celebrated. With a nod, Angel lifted the slayer up as he stood, holding her in his arms. Clutching her to him he took off with inhuman speed. She wouldn't be safe in the car...and so he headed for the tower in the middle of the field. Leaping over an oncoming demon he sped his way up the ladder, having to kick down with one of his feet to fend off another spikey looking demon. Lying her down on the top of the tower he leaned down and placed a single kiss to her forehead, ensuring that her eyelids were shut completely as if offering her peace. They would give her a proper ceremony later...right now, they needed to protect her.
Hating that he had to leave her, he descended down the ladder once again and into the field. However he stayed right in front of the entrance to the ladder he'd used as it was the only entrance. As the demons began to rush him, he was a flurry of fists and feet and not much else. Ridden with despair, he wanted nothing else than to lose himself in the violence. He would protect her until he no longer could and everything else seemed to drift away...
He was broken.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Willow still was in shock from all this, it couldn’t be real it just had to be a dream. There was no way her best friend was gone again, and from the same thing no less. It just wasn’t fair for any of them having to go through this all over again. Willow continued to hold on to Xander tightly still crying hard, she could feel Xander tears fall on to her head. She could even hear him begging for Buffy not to be gone, they both were in shock knowing that things were never going to be the same. Which was why they brought Buffy back the first time, because of how hard it was for everyone. Life just wasn’t the same anymore. But maybe this was there punishment for bringing her back the first time, after all Buffy didn’t want to be saved from heaven. Which is why it kills Willow to even think this, but she doesn’t know if Buffy would want her bringing her back again. Even though right now it was all Willow could think about doing, getting her best friend back! Not long after holding Xander someone else had shown up, it was Dawn, Willow heart sank knowing that she was going to be in shock. Her only blood family was gone, the person that had given her life for her was gone again. Dawn had walked up and begin to cry, screaming in shock. Willow let up from Xander walking over to the young Summers girl and placing her arms around her holding her tight. “It ok Dawn, its going to be ok.” She said trying to calm her even though it wasn’t ok, none of them were going to be ok. Faith and Connor showed up soon after, you could tell by the look on faith’s face that she was pissed. She still had the hammer in her hand; ready for whatever could come at them. Willow was ready to as the hurt inside her was building into hate, she need to get out some of that hate. She just couldn’t wait to get her hands on Glory again, but this time she wouldn’t be walking away alive. Willow let up from Dawn looking around them. It seemed like now they had company, Glory must have known they would be there with Buffy. "Dawn stay close to me ok." She said to Dawn. Demons gathered up all around them, it was clear they would have to fight, which for Willow might not be the best idea with all this anger building. She wasn’t going to be playing nice. She could tell that Spike felt the same way, the witch could feel all the anger coming off of him ready to fight as well. As always Spike kept Buffy’s Little Sis close to him protecting her, which was good they couldn’t let Glory get her hands on her next. Willow knows that more then anything right now, Buffy would be wanting them to keep Dawn safe. She would be all that matter to her, after all she was the reason the Slayer lost her life in the first place. There were Demon everywhere around them, it was clear that the demotions were opening up. What they had feared the first time had came true, this was not good it was like hell on earth. The witch stood there ready to go, hand up to any demon that might cross her path. "Come and get some." She whisper to herself. --------------------------------------------------Pain and sorrow. That's all Xander could feel right now, other than that he was empty. Why couldn't they have gone earlier, they should have figured this out before Glory had the chance to even do anything. How could they let Buffy out of their sight? They knew Glory hated her so why would they just let Glory roam around without defending themselves? His best friend was taken away once again. What was this? Some sick kind of joke? They bring back Buffy and what the balance is disrupted? Was this their pay back? To get close with each other and all of a sudden lose her again? If this was how the world worked then Xander didn't want to be in it anymore, he was sick and tired of it.
Soon after Dawn joined them and Xander just felt so bad for the kid. She had lost her mother already and now Buffy once again? It wasn't fair to her, she needed her they all needed her. Willow went to comfort Dawn and Xander followed along giving a hug to both girls still tearing up. Maybe the girl was in shock over her sister's death, she shouldn't have to see this again, it just wasn't right. Faith and Connor came and both seemed equally pissed, at this point who wouldn't be? Faith went right at it and started killing every single demon that came close to them and so did Angel, everyone was in fury over her death.
Xander's pain started to form into anger and with that he picked up the axe on the ground. If the demons wanted to kill them then they didn't have a chance. Xander may be a human and possibly weak but he didn't care, he was past the point of caring. "Let's kick some demon ass," he said angrily. Xander couldn't think straight at the moment and ran. He knew Willow had the powers and Spike was able to protect Dawn. Faith and Connor had each other so Xander decided to join Angel although it didn't seem like he needed that much help but it didn't matter. It would be good to be equal in numbers all he had to do was rush these demons. Xander started to run with the axe and charged at one demon surprising it by cutting it's head off with the axe. It was an easy kill but he knew the other ones would be harder.
Xander started to run again but to the tower to meet Angel, he knew Angel had Buffy's body and he wasn't sure if the two needed help...if Angel needed help since Buffy was dead...it was still hard to think of. He got blocked by a demon and he attacked it but it countered him and him and hit Xander. Xander did bruise easily but it didn't matter he wasn't going to lose not yet. Xander fought until the demon died and he finally joined Angel and started fighting the other demons around them. He wondered where Angel put the body but right now he couldn't wonder he had to just do. The vampire was extremely angry and hurt, Xander could tell for once Xander felt bad for Angel, he had lost his soul-mate, his true love. A demon punched Xander and knocked him to the ground where it tried to grab him but with the adrenaline rushing through Xander he didn't hesitate to kick the demon "All you got? Come on!" He yelled angrily so the demon could come closer, hee swung his axe and hit the side of the demon. Glory would pay for this, pay for it all but for now Xander would take his anger out on every single demon that tried to attack him and his friends. He wasn't going down without a fight.
-------------------------- -------------------------- Dawn couldn’t believe what her eyes were seeing. This just wasn’t possible at all. Buffy couldn’t be dead. She couldn’t lose her sister, not again. This had to be dream. Yeah that was it, she had to be dreaming. This couldn’t be real. Her mind didn’t want to compute what her eyes were seeing. Tears rolled from her eyes down her face. She couldn’t stop crying. She remembered the first time Buffy had died. She had felt so abandoned then. She felt that feeling coming back. She had worked through all of her abandonment issues; well at least she thought she had. This was still fresh for her. Everyone probably felt like this. When the shock was over she wouldn’t feel like this anymore. She would still be upset about Buffy dying, just not feeling abandoned.
Others were gathered around soon. Spike came over to her and was fighting demons while she sat there being and feeling helpless. Willow came over to her and hugged her telling her it was going to be okay. Dawn didn’t know that though, she didn’t feel like everything was going to be okay because Buffy, her sister, was dead. Nothing would ever be okay ever again. It’s not going to be okay Willow she said through her tears. She wanted her sister back and nothing anyone could say would change the fact that Buffy was dead, she was gone. Soon Xander was there and he had wrapped his arms around both Dawn and Willow as they all cried some more. Willow told her to stay close to her even though Spike was around her fighting demons, protecting her. Spike always was there protecting her no matter what. It made her feel good to know that no matter what he would protect her. She was sure Buffy would have liked that.
The reason Dawn was even in Richmond was because Glory was back and Buffy wanted Dawn safe. So Dawn transferred schools and left Rome to come to Richmond, Virginia to stay with Buffy and everyone. Glory wanted Dawn, Dawns blood, to get back to where she had come from. Dawns blood was the key of course, Dawn was the key. That was how she became Buffy’s sister in the first place. She was the key and the monks placed her in human form with Buffy. Gave them all memories of Dawn having always being there, no matter what though Dawn and Buffy were sisters. Anger built up inside of her as she thought about how well everyone, especially Buffy was after they all found out about Dawn’s true identity, even though she was the Key Buffy still thought of her as her sister. She had told Dawn that even though they weren’t blood sisters they were still sister no matter what.
She looked up at the many demons swarming around them. Everyone was fighting demons and Dawn hadn’t moved an inch. There was something wrong with this picture. She picked up an axe that was close to her and stood up. Dawn had recently gotten to where everyone didn’t treat her like a helpless kid. She had battled demons and she wasn’t going to miss out now. Her sister was gone but that didn’t mean her death had to be in vain. Dawn moved beside Spike anger all over her face. She swung the axe at an oncoming demon. They clashed and Dawn swung at it again and cut its head off. She made sure to stay close by Spike like she knew he wanted. Right now she was angry, well she was beyond angry. She wanted to do something with that rage so right now that was killing demons. -------------------------- WORD COUNT:: i dont remember TAG:: scooby gang OUTFIT:: OMFG! ITS CLICKABLE! - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - Something pulled on the slayer’s hair, yanking her back several feet as she struggled to keep the troll hammer in hand. ”You did not just pull my hair” she said, throwing her head back and hitting her assailant right in the nose with a loud grunt. Spreading her legs wide she came crashing down between them with the troll hammer in hand, smashing her assailant in the knee caps as well. Turning around she found her foe to be a simple vampire, though he seemed…more demonic than the ones she was used to. Not quite a Turok-Han, but also not an average run of the mill Sunnydale vamp either. As he fell to his knees at the impact of the hammer, she swung it again hitting him in the temple. Although he wasn’t dead, she didn’t have a stake on hand, and left him to wallow in his pain alone.
Before she could so much as turn, she was swarmed yet again. This time by two werewolf looking beasts that came at her on all fours. One from each side, she stepped back to avoid being swiped by their paws. One of her legs jutted out and kicked the one to her left in the ribs, causing It to cry out in pain as it tumbled over. The other jumped over to her and landed right on top of her, the hammer falling to her side as she was pinned underneath the beast. Both of her hands moved to cover her face as the beast began to maul her. Her hands began to hold its teeth away from her neck and face as it leaned down to attempt to bite on her flesh, getting more and more pissed off by the second.
With a groan she pulled her legs up on the beast’s sides and tightened her hold against the animal. With a growl of her own she flipped them both so that she was on top, straddling the thing and holding it to the ground. Raising both of her hands above her head, she clasped her fists together to make one, and then came crashing down on the beast’s face. Both of its legs and paws were flailing about and trying to touch her, one of the paws scraping down her shoulder and ripping right through Buffy’s jacket. Buffy’s going to kill me for that…Oh, wait. Nevermind… And with this she punched the demon a couple of times until it seemed slightly disorientated. Flying off the demon and into a roll, she grabbed the troll hammer back into her hands. As the beast catapulted itself towards her she swung the hammer just in time to hit it in the side. As it fell to the ground she walked over to it and brought the hammer down on its forehead, crushing it’s head and watching as wolf guts oozed out onto the ground beside it.
A breeze brushed against her shoulder and she shivered, knowing her skin was now exposed where the jacket had been ripped. Several feet next to her she watched Connor fighting her own battles, and watched Xander completely cross the field and head for Angel. Behind Xander came a green slimy looking thing, to which she intercepted without him even noticing. While everyone seemed to be faring well at the moment, she watched as more and more demons seemed to join the fight. It seemed their numbers were endless tonight, and the horde was growing by the second. Faith slowly began to make her way back over to Connor, fighting her way through the crowds as she did so. Morale was low because of the tragedy, but she hoped that they could all pull through. For Buffy….
His mind emptied as the adrenaline flowed through his veins. Muscles burning as they lashed out, contracting and expanding at speeds a normal body could not withstand. And with every crunch of opposing bone, creaking of enemy cartilage, growl of pain from a demonic throat; The Destroyer continued to press the advantage. When his fists weren't enough, the stake at his waistband slid soundlessly into his hand to plunge into the back of an opposing vampire going for the remaining Slayer. Faith mattered, Faith needed to survive. She was the End of the Line, and at the moment their only accessible Chosen One. The dichotomy of Dark and Light had been irrefutably changed, and as the Black Knight Sister tore through the minions of Hell, Steven kept the worst at bay as long as he could.
With a cry, one of the larger demons grappled him from behind, picking him up by the back of the neck before slamming him hard down onto the ground. His stake went wild, spinning into the battlefield before disappearing under the waves of never-ending opponents. Pulling his legs up and under the demon pinning him to the dirt, he growled back at the anthropomorphic thing. Baring blunt human teeth as it bore down on him with glistening fangs. Striking out hard with both feet to break the grapple, Steven rolled up into a low crouch, eyes flashing while he regained his baring. Looking up in time to see Faith making her way to him, Steven gazed over her shoulder. One of the feral creatures, most likely kin of the hellhound, circled towards her; almost a jackal as it slunk past the fallen to stalk the Slayer. "Faith!"
With a snarl, Steven leapt; tackling the thing to the ground and rolling off to the side with it. Over, under; over under. The pair switching control of the grapple as rock and claw bit into beast and man. Landing hard on his back, he struggled to keep it's jaws from latching onto his throat. Grabbing hard, his hands caught in the creature's mouth; his jaw groaning in concentration as Steven ripped the creature's off. Tossing the beast to the side, he quickly slid out of his hoodie before springing back up to his feet. The extra fabric was in the way, and he needed every advantage. His heroics landed him on the other side of the line from his friends, nigh surrounded on every side by all manners of beast the Pit spit out. Realizing how far he was from the group, how his muscles while currently strong would eventually fatigue; Connor felt a heady calmness take over where fury had before.
Not everyone was going to make it out of this…
With a steady stream of blood pouring from his wounded temple to paint along his face, back bruised and gashed, caught in the center of the ravening horde; Connor had a moment of hindsight, wishing for some sort of weapon before squaring off and rolling his shoulders. Looking towards Faith, he gave her a bittersweet look before shouting over the din. "We need to close off where they're coming from!" Ducking as one of the feral vampires charged, Connor snapped out with his dominant left arm. Too wide, perhaps distracted by the blood pouring into his right eye, Connor swung wide. Wide enough for the vampire to catch, twist in his hands easily. The loud snap of bone and scream of fury and agony from his own throat startling even Connor before he was tossed to the side. Clutching his broken arm tight to his chest, Connor struggled to his feet swearing.
Not done, not out for the count; but most certainly not in top fighting condition.
People seemed to be coming out of their numbness, the shock melting away into a mixture of anger and bloodlust. It was actually quite fortunate that an invading lot of demons had made themselves so ready to be slaughtered by the ragtag group. The blond vampire in the midst of battle heard more than saw what the others were doing—a cry of pain or a threat among the shrieks that definitely were less human than anyone in their current warrior’s regiment. But most of his focus was concentrated on the area around the little sister of the Slayer. The deafening blast of the sawn-off shotgun rang in Spike’s ears again as he gunned down some kind of demon made of fur and slime all patched together. The smell of blood and smoke was thickening in the air as the battle continued, and it just pushed him to hit harder, move faster. The waves of enemies seemed endless, but the faster they plowed through them, the faster they could make some kind of sense out of what was happening. A glint of silver caught his eye, and before one large and meaty fist could come into contact with his stomach, Spike nearly let himself fall, flinching out of the way of a fairly tall and muscular armored demon’s line of attack. The vampire leapt back a bit to distance himself, cocked the shotgun and fired again, but the pitch black-skinned demon seemed to just take the bullet without even batting an eye. A familiar growl made its way into Spike’s throat, and he flipped his weapon around, and hit the beast in what was probably it’s nose. It howled from the pain, but immediately countered in the most unexpected of ways—flames poured from the demon’s mouth, some of the hot streaks of fire catching the right side of Spike’s face. Batting any lick of flame that threatened to burn him up left the blond vamp more vulnerable, and a punch landed on his crown, sending him to his knees. But more frustration and the thirst for victory swelled inside him and Spike struck out with his shotgun again, hearing the demon’s kneecap shatter from the impact. He took the advantage and pushed himself upright as his opponent fell, catching its head and with all of his strength, twisting it until another satisfying crack was heard. The skirmish lasted longer than Spike would have liked though, as he looked up just in time to see Dawn take up an axe and begin to head off into battle. Not exactly what he would have considered being safe, but as he maneuvered his shotgun to block a mace swinging towards him, Spike caught the girl hacking the head off a demon. The Brit wasn’t quite sure if he should have been surprised or proud, but both emotions were creeping in as he blasted the mace swinging creature and took up a position guarding Dawn’s back and blind spots. He also figured that Red was somewhere close, since in the distance he could see her bosom chum and Angel fighting together, and if she wasn’t with him, she’d be around protecting Dawn. Hopefully her rage wouldn’t tip over and have her go all dark and vengeful. As much as the power would have been appreciated, the aftermath would not be. More scents were mixing together—sweat and acid and more blood. More human blood than Spike felt comfortable with, particularly since Faith’s stood out so strongly to him. But a quick check proved that everyone living was still breathing as of then, and the vampire continued to move in sync with wave after wave of foe, gritting his teeth against the wounds he sustained and keeping constant watch to make sure Dawn didn’t get a scratch on her. +++ TAGS: Scoobs WORD COUNT: 635 NOTES: ~
- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She could feel the difference as she slowly ascended the murky waters of what she knew had been a very strange experience. She could hear sounds that didn’t quite make sense to her yet, and could smell the burning of trees that didn’t seem to belong where she knew that she was. She felt the hard cool metal of something beneath her though she couldn’t seem to open her eyes quick enough to make out what she was laying on. She could easily remember the beings, the oracles as she now knew, and their words. She didn’t want to think on them for she knew that there would come a time that she had to talk about it.
However she knew now that she had been sent back to help those around her. She didn’t know who was there, though she could hear the tell tale sounds of fighting going on. She begged her eyes to open and yet somehow they refused to cooperate. She could hear demons growling at a cry ring out from someone down belong. This seemed to be the ammunition she needed to open her eyes, to slowly ascend from the blackness that had engulfed her.
Her eyes were blurry yet she could still see the generalness of what was going on. Demons were pouring out from the portal that she had jumped into. She looked down and noted that blood was still dripping, though it seemed to be mostly congealed now. She remembered Dawn’s words from years ago when they had argued on top of a tower very similar to this. Buffy I know about the ritual. I have to stop it. Blood starts it and until the blood stops flowing it'll never stop. She made very little movement as she pushed her jacket against the blood, stemming it until it stopped flowing freely. She was relieved to see the portal shimmer and close, yet she knew that there had been a lot of damage so far that had to be cleaned up.
She estimated more demons had escaped than were around now. Demons and god knows what else could have easily escaped the portal and took off to create mayhem and ruckus wherever they went, and she knew it would be her job to stop them. However now was not the time to think on such things. Now was the time to figure out how the hell to get her friends to safety. She noted with dismay that she had no weapon on her since she had been taken out from her bedroom and drugged. She was thankful that her strength seemed to have returned which struck her as odd since it had taken days to return to her after being drugged by Giles back in high school…however she knew better than to look that gift horse in the mouth.
Her vision had cleared up and she noted Angel fighting below, seemingly standing guard over her. Looking down she noted that Connor had his arm clutched to his chest, Dawn was next to Willow and Spike seemed to be still honoring his promise, looking over at her every few seconds to see if she was alright. Faith seemed to be jumping into the fray with vigor, killing as many things as she could and Xander seemed to be helping Angel?
She was not impressed that she didn’t have a weapon that had never stopped her before so she stood up quickly, her sight having come back fully now and did a summersault in the air to land on the next platform where Angel stood. “Need a hand?” She asked, not even bothering to comment or notice his shocked expression before punching the demon that had charged Angel. She nodded once down to the ground and ran down the tower, wishing she could jump off it but not wanting to learn the repercussions of breaking a bone just yet. Breaking a demon’s neck that had come up behind Xander she ran over to Connor and pulled him out of the way just as a demon was coming at him. “Go stand by the tower. I’m going to send Dawn to you.” She told him quietly. Kicking a demon who charged her she went over and grabbed her sister. “Go stand by Connor. Stay out of the fight.” She told her, the look on her face giving her no room to argue before she ran over to Faith. “Need a hand?” She asked.
Nothing made sense to Angel anymore. Everything seemed...pointless. Deep down the vampire truly was a good man. However that didn't mean that the thought of being with Buffy, fully, someday didn't fuel his drive to atone for his sins. In all honesty it was one of the reasons that he'd been so apt to help people, to be good. It wasn't the biggest reason or the only reason, but it was one of them. Now that she wasn't here he found it to be a bigger reason than he'd originally thought..If there was ever a moment where he felt truly beaten down it was right now. He'd felt like that before, but nothing like this. Even when she'd died at the hands of Glory the first time it hadn't felt like this. At least back then he hadn't been able to help even if he'd wanted to. This time she'd been taken from him right under his nose. He'd never felt lower.
The rage building within him definitely showed as he fought, and ended up being an advantage to those on his side. Every once in a while he would look up and past his opponents to check on the group. Despite being lost and broken, he still had to ensure that no one else got hurt. Honestly the group couldn't take losing anyone else at this point. Above them the portal continued to spew demons out like a volcano. As they landed with a loud thud he slowly began to be backed into a corner. Despite how hard he fought, more and more seemed to be coming by the second. Out in the field he noticed, proudly, that everyone seemed to be doing alright. Several of them were bloody but they were all alive. The smell of both human and demon blood was thick in the air, and he noticed Faith's first. She looked shredded but he didn't take too long to analyze the damage. His eyes shifted to his son watching as he moved with speed and agility to take out his foes.
In the distance Xander made his way over to the vampire, though demons were in between them. Angel grunted as he sent a powerful kick into the midsection of one of the larger demons, watching as it stumbled backwards. Unbeknownst to Angel, another demon was in the process of charging him at that very second. However before it could it was intercepted...by Buffy. If Angel's heart had been able to beat it would have stopped. All he could do was stare at her as she nonchalantly punched out the demon whom had been charging him. His eyes looked above to find that the portal had been closed and when he looked back down to her, she was gone. Had she been a mirage? Perhaps she hadn't been there at all....
However within a minute or two he watched as she made her way out onto the field parading past everyone. What the...fuck. Angel didn't even swear and he'd just thought up a swear word. His eyes remained wide as he realized that it wasn't a mirage. She was really here. He didn't know how, nor did he care at the moment. Knowing she was alive gave him the strength he needed to push through.
...Only it'd come a few seconds too late. While he'd been staring at Buffy, the demon she'd punched had gotten back up. It'd charged him again and he hadn't even noticed until he'd been tackled. And not just any kind of tackle, Angel was falling through air. And he fell, and fell, and fell.. Maneuvering carefully he just in time managed to get on the top side of the demon, whom took the brunt of the fall. Standing up first his hand reached out to grab the demon by the neck. His other hand reached out and plunged into it's chest. Successfully removing it's heart, the demon slumped to the ground. With this he headed right back into the fray, his eyes moving every once in awhile to check that Buffy was really there. She'd given him the strength he'd really needed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~This still was all so unreal to Willow she still couldn’t believe all this was going on, how could Buffy be gone again. Things didn’t seem to make since anymore or matter to Willow, at this point she didn’t care what happened to her. Which was why in this fight she was going all out, she didn’t care what happened to her whether she lived or died. All she cared about was making sure Dawn was safe and made it out, Buffy would want that more then anything. There were demons everywhere that were still pouring out one by one from the portal, she knew that Buffy blood still must have be flowing from wherever Angel took her. Which made the witch that much more angry and ready to fight, she wasn’t going to hold anything back. She approached the first demon that was in front of her, getting ready to call out a spell. "Excudo!” She said pushing the demon back hard and away from her. Willow was pissed and you could see it in her eyes, she was killing demons one by one with magic. With every kill you could see she her grow more angry, and with that her eyes were growing darker and darker. Willow was pissed letting ever fiber of her being come out. She was glad that Tara wasn’t here to see her like this, resorting back to using this much magic at this level. But she didn’t care anymore her best friend was gone, the one thing they all had feared was happing all over again to them. She was using the most powerful magic that she could calling out the darkest spells, at this point she was lost in herself not even thinking about what she was doing. Everyone else was way to busy to even notice her really. The look she had on her face almost seemed like she was gone, with no emotion. She called out the next powerful spell at another demon, still taking them down like they were nothing. "Incurso" As Willow called out this spell, you could now see the roots of her hair slowly start to turn. A bit of black was showing through her red roots, along with her eyes still black as coal. But then she heard a familiar voice say something, it was enough to waken the witch from the magic trance she had put herself into. Her roots had faded all back to red, and her eyes turned back to normal “What the…?” Willow looked over to find that Buffy was alive. “But how?” She wondered if she was in fact seeing things, if maybe the magic had made her nuts. The witch was lost on what was going on, Buffy was back but how? Willow watched as she had told Dawn to go stand by Connor to keep her safe, which she was in fact doing. Buffy then was on her way busy helping Faith. So The Witch ran over to Dawn to make sure she wasn’t crazy at all. “Hey Dawn am I nuts or is that Buffy over there helping Faith? Please tell me I‘ not seeing things! Please tell me she has came back to us.” She asked hope it truly was what she was seeing. Willow looked around realizing that the portals had now all closed, which meant the blood must have stopped. --------------------------------------------------Fury. That's all Xander could feel right now. He was mad at the world, the world took his best friend away...his family, and the world swallowed her whole and didn't hesitate to consume her. No, it wasn't the world's fault it was the higher power, god, whatever the hell it was. He or she wanted her back in her rightful place and took her away from her loved ones. It wasn't fair; she didn't deserve to die, not again! She deserved to live, maybe even more than Xander she had saved the world so many times and saved so many people and god rewards her with death? Xander knew all he could do was fight off the demons no matter what, he had to do it. She was gone again but the rest of them would live and fight for her just as they did before but with more backup.
Xander watched to see if everyone was okay and so far so good. A lot of them could hold their ground. Xander knew that it was a possibility that he would die...maybe let the darkness consume him. Everyone else was strong and him? Yes, he was a watcher but that didn't mean anything he was still the weaker one but he wasn't going to go down without a fight. Xander finally made it to Angel . "I know you think you don't need back up. But I'm here so why the heck not." A demon started running towards Xander trying to attack him with its claws and Xander dodged by falling down, he got up and used the end of his axe to hit the demon in the stomach and then he turned it around and took off it's head. He wasn't going to have any demon one up him, not this early into the fight.
Xander was focused with what was in front of him and not behind, a demon was coming for him, he heard a snap. Xander turned around and raised his axe to see a dead demon and a blonde girl running. Was he imagining this? Was this actually Buffy Summers alive? The hell? Xander dropped the axe and rubbed his eyes, okay she was real, but how? "Not a good idea," he muttered to himself while picking the axe up. He shouldn't have dropped it some demon could have had him. He still couldn't believe it though, she was dead so how could she come back alive? The portal killed her last time so what was the difference now? There had to be a reason why, he saw her cold body lying there it just didn't make any sense.
Xander slowly started to grin. For a moment he thought he had lost one of his best friends but she was back! He started to become excited. "Buffy's back!" He started laughing and he wanted to run to Willow and jump in glee but this was a bad time plus he'd have to pass all the demons, but Angel...was doing good on his own so couldn't Xander just leave. Xander started dancing a little feeling just happy, right now he wasn't aware of his surroundings, it wasn't like he dropped the axe this time, he was dancing with it so that was okay. "Okay, serious time," Xander said with a big smile. He started attacking demons again with a happy grin to his face, it might have seem he was enjoying the killing but he was just extremely happy that his friend was back...maybe he was being a little weird.
