- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -So she had lied, not a surprising thing these days it seemed, but it didn’t make her feel any better about it. Stefan had needed some space as he had been cooped a lot in the past week and was constantly surrounded by two women who she would admit liked to drive him a little crazy. Okay, so really Lexi liked to drive him crazy, she was just sort of being a tiny bit clingy after everything happened. Nothing crazy horrible or anything but she had just been ignoring her homework and such to spend time with him, which she knew wasn’t good…but really what else could she do?
However, she hadn’t in fact gone to the library to do some homework as she had told Lexi and Stefan she was going to do. Lexi was headed to the beach and had invited Elena, but the young brunette had other plans and needed to carry them out without anyone else being around. She knew that if she told Lexi or Stefan where she was going that they would object and that Lexi would insist on coming with her…but this was something that she wanted to do by herself. No, she needed to do this by herself.
Stepping into the opening for the caves that she had been dragged down to only a few weeks before hand, she stepped over a hole in the ground and proceeded to walk towards her destination. She wasn’t sure why she couldn’t stop thinking about it, but she needed to see it, she wanted to know if she was losing it or if it was really still here. Seeing the engravings and paintings on the cave wall she knew she was close, but still she wasn’t quite there. Stepping a few more steps she came into the alcove where she could see a few lanterns that no longer burned and took the flashlight out of her purse in which she had hidden there before leaving this morning.
Turning it on she desperately searched the floor, almost losing hope until a glint of metal shown through. Almost running over to it she found it…her necklace…stashed underneath a rock. Picking it up she looked at it almost longingly, then turning to look at the bracelet on her wrist. Both given to her by two vampires that she cared about, both that she loved…and yet she could only have one. Both were for the same thing, to keep out those who would try to compel her. The necklace had been a gift from Stefan, and when it had been lost, Damon had replaced it with a bracelet. Both contained vervain, and both were essentially saying the same thing.
But how to decide? No, that wasn’t the question. She knew her choice…she had always known it. Taking the bracelet off she slid it into her back pocket and put her necklace back on, feeling an almost tangible relief as she felt the cool metal against her skin. As she sat against the cave wall she simply stared at the bracelet, wondering how it had come to this.

------------------------------ ------------------------------ Damon was kind of having an off week, he did settle into Mystic Falls and no one knew he was here. Well, of course no one knew, they haven't seen him before and he was basically a nobody right now, but that would change within time. He wanted to get somewhere with his plans but he was still looking for a Bennett, he didn't know the age of the Bennett but all he could really do is put his charm on people and having them tell him all about the Bennett, if that didn't work then he could just easily compel. He just wanted to get Katherine and do whatever. At least he could have a little fun in this town but he just wished he could toy with people.
Damon had to venture around town today but there was a specific location he wanted to go to which was a cave. He wasn't sure why he needed to go there but he felt like that was apart of the plan, maybe it was, he wasn't too sure. He poured himself a cup of whiskey and drank it before he left. He loved the taste of strong alcohol, it really helped him with a lot actually. It kind of soothed his thirst and made his feelings go numb, he of course doesn't really have feelings since he has no humanity in him. The only feelings he had was basically love for Katherine nothing else, he didn't love his brother and he didn't care for anybody else, the whole world could die and he wouldn't notice.
Damon went out the door and went to scout the area of the town. He wanted to make sure his plans were flawless and that nothing would go wrong. He could involve a lot of people in his plans and they would have to deal with it or be oblivious to it. He just wanted to get this day over with, and fast. Damon went to a couple caves and he was about to head to a different area but there was one cave that interested him...something about it made him think that this could be apart of his plan. He stood there for a little bit and wondered what could be in it. He finally walked into the cave.
He looked at the walls of the cave and they were engraved paintings, what was this place? Damon put his hand on the wall and walked while feeling it's rough exterior. He walked deeper into the cave and stepped over the hole in the ground. "This is getting boring," he said to himself. He wondered what the cave held, maybe it had the key to getting the tomb open. There were cave paintings so they could mean something, maybe he needed a witch to translate all of this. Damn, he should have gotten the Bennett witch before he came into here, then again he didn't even know the cave had all of this. He finally got to the alcove and he saw a girl who was...searching for something. He watched her in amazement. Once she sat down he looked at her. It had to be her, but could it really be her?
Damon walked there with vampiric speed. The girl had the same face, same hair, and same physical features, it had to be her, but none of it made sense. He looked at her with lost eyes. "Katherine," he said with a small smile but it faded away quickly. He had a full proof plan, and now he didn't get to use it. He was happy that Katherine was here and not in the tomb but if she was out of the tomb then why didn't she go looking for him? Damon had spent years trying to figure out how to get her out and she doesn't even go looking for him? Or maybe she thought he was already in Mystic Falls, he was just trying to make a sense of all this. He needed to be filled in by her quickly. He tilted his head and wondered why Katherine was in this cave particularly.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Her mind wandered, refusing to let go of the past images that were flying around in her mind. She could still remember how things had been back before things had gotten so incredibly difficult. She remembered meeting Stefan, immediately feeling something about him, yet not knowing what it was. She had fallen for him instantly though, because he had come into her life at a time where she had needed someone to hold her up when all she wanted to do was drown. After her parents had died nothing had seemed real to her anymore, yet Stefan came and showed her that it was okay to live again. You won’t be sad forever Elena. She could still remember him telling her, and he was right…she was able to find her center and figure out how to stand on her own two feet, though she had always known that he would be right there to help her back if should she fall again.
She remembered meeting Damon, who she had an instant dislike for...though even she had to admit that there was something about him that she couldn't help but be attracted too. She wasn't a huge fan of the way that he talked or the way that he annoyed his brother constantly, nor had she been a fan of the way that he treated people, especially those that she cared about, in the beginning. Yet he had grown up it seemed over the past year and now he was considered one of her best friends. Unfortunately though she knew that he didn't want to simply be her best friend or her boyfriend's brother...he wanted more and that bothered her more than she cared to admit. She had told him more than once how it was and yet for some reason he couldn’t seem to understand it. I love Stefan, it’s always going to be Stefan.
She heard footsteps coming towards her and she wanted to slap herself for allowing so much time to pass. She really should have found her necklace and gotten the hell out of this cave...yet she hadn't done it so she was stuck. She had unfortunately also moved to where vampires could enter rather than staying where the necklace had been so again, she was stuck, quite literally. There wasn't another exit out of the caves so she was going to have to wait until whoever was coming towards her left before being able to make a break for it. Hopefully she would either be able to run through the entrance or make it back to where vampires couldn't enter or else she was definitely in trouble.
Hearing a familiar voice she looked up, squinting as she heard Katherine's name leave the lips of the man that she knew. He looked the same, yet the way that he was holding himself was different. "No, it's Elena." She told him, knowing that while she realistically shouldn't be afraid of him, something inside her told her to be careful. "Why would Katherine be here?" She asked him, standing up though keeping her distance from him as much as possible.

------------------------------ ------------------------------ Damon wanted answers right away but it seemed like he wasn't going to get them. All this time searching she was okay, she wasn't in the tomb withering away slowly. Love really was a bitch. There was something different about Katherine though, it felt like it wasn't her or just the way her facial expressions moved. He just analyzed the brunette wondering what he was missing. He hated these guessing games unless someone else was playing the game and he was the creator. Katherine had a knack of playing games and Damon could never win but he had a lot of practice. He wasn't going to fall for her games again, this time the tables were turned and he would somehow trick her into telling him of why she was really here.
Wait...what this wasn't Katherine? None of this was making any sense to him. Why would this not be Katherine? This was Elena, who the hell was Elena? Now that he thought about it, she did have a different scent, she was human. "Oh, you just look..." He wanted to say who she looked like but Elena wouldn't have understood. He started walking towards her. "I'm sorry, you just really remind me of someone," he said with a grin. In a way this kind of made Damon feel better, Katherine was still in the tomb which means she did care for him and was waiting for him to save her, she wasn't running around the world forgetting about him. Still though, why was this girl exactly a look a like, he just couldn't wrap that around his mind.
Damon came to a stop when she mentioned Katherine's name. His mind was just so confused and he couldn't understand anything. First this was Elena who looked exactly like Katherine and now she is claiming she knows her? It just couldn't be true. There was something he was missing and he couldn't figure it out for the life of him. "How do you know Katherine?" He crossed his arms sounding interested. He eyed the girl still wondering what she was thinking. He could compel her but he needed some information and apparently she had it all. "I'm not sure if we're talking about the same person." He still wouldn't believe her, she was probably thinking of some other teenager.
"So, Elena what brings you here in a dark cave by yourself," he said with a smirk. He didn't know the girl but he could have fun with her. He wasn't going to hurt her, he wasn't in the mood to but he could always have fun and that wasn't a crime. And if she had valuable information then he could use her for part of his plan. He was pretty curious to know why she was here. This cave did have these paintings and it seemed like it was apart of something, she had no reason being here unless she wanted peace in quiet. He wasn't going to let her run away if she tried to, he'd put on his charm for the girl. He had many ways of making people talk and somehow Elena would tell him. She knew something and she would have to tell him at some point, he wasn't going to be kept in the dark by some human look a like.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Tilting her head to the side her eyes shown with confusion. She wanted to ask him what game he was playing but for the life of her she couldn't make her mouth move. He acted as if he didn't know her, but she knew that wasn't true. She knew Damon, knew him better than most people, and he knew her. So why was he acting as if he didn't know her. Her suspicions were correct when he told her that she reminded him of someone. What the hell was going on? She usually was stronger than this but with everything that had happened in the past few days she felt extremely vulnerable, and in no way fit to deal with whatever game it was that Damon was playing.
Figuring she might as well play along for a few moments at least she stood straighter, letting her hands fall behind her, slipping the bracelet that he himself had given her that was filled with vervain. She didn't want him to notice that she had taken it off, though in the mood he was in she wasn't sure if he would care or not. This whole situation was extremely strange and to be honest she wasn't quite sure what to make of it. "I know Katherine quite well." She stated casually. "She's my ancestor, hence the family resemblance." Okay, so that statement wasn't so casual, more of a sarcastic tone but eh, whatever, it was Damon and he was the king of sarcasm.
Hearing him state that he wasn't sure if they were talking about the same person she snorted. "You mean the woman who looks exactly like me? Yeah, we're definitely talking about the same person. The vampire about yay high..." She stated, putting her hand at level with the top of her head. "Brown eyes, curly brown hair...her face is a match to mine? Yep, same person." She stated with a roll of her brown eyes.
Seeing his smirk she felt chills run down her spine. She wasn't sure why but this game was freaking her out. She didn’t like to see Damon like this, it reminded her too much of the Damon that she had known before they had become friends…the Damon that was obsessed with finding a way to get Katherine out of the tomb no matter what the cost. "Okay enough Damon. This is stupid. I'm not sure what the hell you're trying to play but I am done with the games. I need to get back to Lexi. You want to talk to Katherine than come with me as she's supposed to be meeting me and Lexi back at the house to talk about Stefan." She stated, not really having any idea that she had given away several things in that little statement, but then again, how was she to know that this wasn't some weird game?

------------------------------ ------------------------------ Damon still couldn't make sense of any of it. How could Katherine be Elena's ancestor? It just wasn't possible. There had to be an explanation. "The resemblance is remarkable but Katherine didn't have any kids." Elena had a sarcastic tone in her voice and Damon liked that actually. He could be even more sarcastic though. He still couldn't wrap his mind in it though. How could the two look exactly like if they were related. He wasn't going to believe her just yet though. The girl could be lying but he would be lying to himself. Katherine had never mentioned having a kid before, none of it made sense. He just wanted to know what was going on before his mind blew up.
This girl definitely had sass to her for some reason. It was as if she was acting like she knew him. He didn't like it at all. "Aren't you feisty," he said while raising an eyebrow. If she wanted to play a game then he was all for it. "I'm kind of intrigued that you know all of this. Am I missing something?" Elena obviously knew more than he did somehow. Maybe she knew where Katherine was and how to get her out of that tomb. She could be very useful for later on. He wondered why she was so calm around him though. If she knew about vampires then she must have known he was one or maybe she was just an idiot and thought he was a human wanting to be a vampire. He could care less what she thought at the moment. He watched her put some bracelet on which made him laugh on the inside. "Did your boyfriend give you that bracelet and that cheesy necklace to?" He said in a sarcastic tone.
He eyed Elena carefully and watched her movements. She knew of Stefan and Lexi? Okay, this girl wasn't just some ordinary human. He grabbed her by the arm and kept a tight firm grip, maybe too hard. "Elena, Elena. We aren't going anywhere until you tell me how you know so much about my brother and girlfriend," he said with a serious face. He wanted to know everything and Elena had better tell him, he was an impulsive guy and she didn't want to say the wrong thing to make him react the wrong way. He looked at her in the eyes so he could compel her. "Tell me everything that you know about this town." Wait what? The compulsion didn't work. She wasn't a vampire, she was a human so why couldn't she be compelled? "Something tells me there's more to you than you lead on."
He wanted to know what the hell was up with Elena. "So, you claim to be related to Katherine. You say you know my brother and his bitch of a friend. And now I can't compel you. So, who are you Elena? You know you want to tell me," he said with another smirk. He could still play his own game, Elena was just not allowed to play hers. It was how it worked, Damon's games were fun while other's just sucked a lot. He wanted to have fun but be serious at the same time. He just wanted the answers he needed. And if Elena could lead him straight to Katherine, wait Katherine. "And why would Katherine be with you if she's in the tomb?" Katherine was in the tomb. Elena had to be lying now. She had about a couple minutes to explain before Damon snapped her one of her limbs.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Alright, he was officially getting on her damn nerves. She didn’t understand why he was playing these games but it was starting to grate on her nerves. She knew that he was acting stupid but for what reason she hadn’t figured out yet. He knew that Katherine had a daughter and that she had been forced away from her, so why did he act as if he didn’t? “You know that she did Damon.” She told him, clearly exasperated yet trying as hard as she could not to show it. “We learned this all last year…remember?” She asked, done with playing games. “She had a baby out of wedlock, her parents took the baby away…any of this ringing a bell or did you develop vampire Alzheimer’s all of a sudden?”
Okay, what the hell? She was extremely confused and didn't like it one bit. "It seems like you're missing a lot." She told him honestly, having absolutely no idea what was going on and anytime she had a thought of what it could be she refused to acknowledge it, knowing that if any of the possibilities that were floating around inside her brain were true, well, not good was an understatement. "Actually you gave me the bracelet." She snapped at him, wondering how the hell he could have forgotten that. She remembered it like it was yesterday and that was saying something with everything that had gone on recently.
Damon had apparently felt bad since Rebekah had taken her necklace. Also he knew damn well that with all the vampires running around that simply ingesting vervain wasn't a sure fire way to resist compulsion any longer...hence the fact that she was now drinking it as well as wearing it around her wrist...and her neck as of now. The gesture was sweet but she knew in the back of her head that she shouldn't have accepted it since it meant more to him than it had to her. She didn't want to be rude though and she did love Damon, just not in the way that he wanted her too...so she took it, something that she was almost regretting now.
Feeling him grip her arm she winced. "Damon you're hurting me!" She told him, though it didn't seem to cause him to loosen his grip any quicker. "Your brother is my damn boyfriend and your girlfriend? Who the hell is your girlfriend?" She asked, before her eyes widened at the realization. "Oh god." She stated, fear shown through her eyes as she realized something. His statement about compulsion should have been the tip off yet his statement about a girlfriend was really thing that did it. The obsession to try and figure out where Katherine is, not knowing her, wanting to know about Stefan...this was all too familiar and that worried her more than she wanted to admit.
She knew that if her suspicions were correct then she had to play by Damon's rules or else she'd be dead before she could even try to run. "I'm exactly who I told you. My name is Elena Gilbert...I'm Katherine Pierce's great great great great and a whole lot more greats granddaughter. Stefan Salvatore is my boyfriend...the two of you were turned in 1864 by Katherine Pierce. Stefan was the one who forced you to turn and you've barely forgiven him for it." She told him, trying to tell him details of his life that only a few people would know to try and prove that she did indeed know him.
"As for Katherine...she's not in the tomb." She told him, not wanting to get into the whole schpiel about how she had never been in the tomb...so she embellished a bit. "She hasn't been in months." She told him, which was the truth, though not the truth he was looking for. She hadn't been in the tomb back in 1864...though had been put there by Damon and Stefan after the masquerade ball...to which she was released after Elijah was daggered. So technically it had been months since she had been in there, though she doubted Damon would see it like that. She needed to know if he really didn't know who she was before she gave him any information.

------------------------------ ------------------------------ Damon listened to her but he still didn't believe her. How would Katherine have a baby, she would have told him if she had in the past. "I find that hard to believe. Maybe...I'll believe you just this once," he said with a teasing smile. He decided that he would trust Elena on this. She looked exactly like Katherine so they must have been related somehow. He wanted to know more though. He still didn't get why Katherine didn't tell him about the baby though, didn't she trust him? Maybe she was scared of telling him or just didn't care about the baby and thought it was dead. He didn't like how she kept secrets from him but knowing Elena was related to her made him very interested in her. "So, if what you're saying is true then you're basically a carbon copy of her?" He was having way too much fun, maybe he could push her buttons some more.
Damon looked at the bracelet. Why would he give Elena the bracelet? That just didn't make sense to him. He had never met the girl in his life. "You act is if you know me," he tilted his head once again. The way she was talking to him and just how she said that he gave her the bracelet. "You must have me mixed up with another handsome guy," he said cockily. If she wanted to think that he gave her that bracelet then she could go right ahead, but he never did and maybe she was living in some type of fantasy. And why would he give a human that bracelet. Maybe she just wanted him to think that so he wouldn't hurt her. Damon tried to think if he ever gave anyone anything but he didn't. If he had given Elena that bracelet he would have remembered considering she was a dead ringer for Katherine.
Why would he care that he was hurting her? She wasn't significant to his life, she was just some girl with information. He wasn't going to let go of her arm just yet, he didn't want the girl to try and run away. "My brother is dating a carbon copy," he laughed. Who would go that low to date someone that looked like Katherine. Stefan of course, he could go really low. "He must be really lonely." Damon still disliked his brother and probably would for another decade, it just was how it was. Elena was now being an idiot, he was of course talking about Katherine. "Who do you think? Do you really want to play the guessing game?" He said in a sarcastic tone. He knew she couldn't be that stupid, he had been talking about his girlfriend this whole time.
Elena Gilbert, that name seemed familiar. He of course knew that name, it had been carried for generations and generations. "You're a Gilbert," he said with a smirk. He knew how bad the Gilbert's were they hated vampires so why would Elena be dating one? "Elena Gilbert. Something tells me you don't hate us vampires as much as you should. Do you even know what stuff I've done?" He had killed quite a few people in his time, he was a monster. So why was Elena so calm about him being in front of her. "I've never told anyone...how do you know all of this," he loosened his group a little and looked in her eyes. He didn't understand how one human could know so much about him and how she knew about him not forgiving Stefan.
Damon finally let go of Elena and looked at her with hurt in his eyes. Katherine wasn't in the tomb. Someone had freed her and she didn't search for Damon. He punched the cave wall beside Elena. "You're telling me that she hasn't been in there," he laughed to himself. How could he be so stupid. Maybe she had a good explanation for all of this. "Looks like you need to inform me on what's happened in this town Ms. Gilbert." He didn't let his emotions fall again, that was the one and only time he would show them. He started pacing and was thinking. Not even Stefan told him Katherine was back. "Before we get into anything, I want to know who saved her." He needed to know why that person would save her, maybe it was Stefan.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Pulling her blue sweater closer to her (which didn't really do anything as it was already against her skin) she shivered, not having realized how cool it was down in the caves until now. Then again it could be a slight case of fear that she felt with the man who while she knew him better than most, she still felt as if he was a stranger at the moment. The cool metal of her bracelet and necklace didn't help either as it wasn't warming up like usual against her skin. Her think tank top under her sweater didn't do much to protect her from the cold, nor did the jeans that she wore as they were fairly old and were broken in...which on a regular day she would be happy about but unfortunately that meant that they were a bit thinner so they didn't protect her against the cold much.
Hearing his question about being a copy of her she sighed. "If you want to get technical yes. I have never done any tests but I almost bet you anything that if we looked we would have the same fingerprints...and as everyone knows not even identical twins have the same fingerprints." She stated simply, having wondered this for quite a while but never finding the time to ask. She was after all a lviing breathing copy of Katherine...who was a living breathing copy of the original Petrova whose name she had been told a few months before but couldn't remember. She thought it started with a 'T' though. "I do know you." She stated simply before telling him exactly how much she knew him, all the while wincing as she felt her bones grind together. If he didn't let her go soon he was going to break her wrist, something she really didn't want to have to explain to anyone...she knew Stefan would go postal and Lexi would be right there to help him.
"I'm a Gilbert and a Petrova. Yes, I am well aware that Katherine's real name isn't Katherine Pierce...it is Katerina Petrova." She told him, trying to convince him that she did in fact know who he was, who his "girlfriend" was (yeah, she really didn't want to see his reaction AGAIN when he realized that Katherine didn't care about him in the way that he wanted her too) and who his brother was. She would admit (to herself only) that Damon telling her that Stefan was dating a copy of Katherine hurt her. She knew that he didn't see her as such but she also knew that there was a time that she had thought the same thing...and that brought up a whole host of memories that she didn't want to think about.
"I don't hate vampires as much as my ancestors did. I hate some of them." She stated simply. "And yes, I do know what you've done. You've got into great detail to tell me and to show me." She told him again, simply. She didn't want to go into detail about how he had threatened to turn her (including forcing her to drink his blood) at least twice and how he technically killed her brother. She wouldn't go into the details until she was some place where Damon wouldn't hurt her. She knew that she should try and appeal to him but really, what could she do.
Relaxing a bit when he let go of her she thought briefly about running but knew she wouldn't get anywhere. She had to be smart about this.
"She was in the tomb." She told him, rubbing her wrist and feeling a twinge. Definitely sprained...but not broken. She had broken enough bones over the years to know the difference. "She was set free. All the tomb vampires were set free." She stated, again, telling the truth, but not giving enough details to force him to become even more enraged. Jumping when he punched the wall against her she cringed before straightening up, refusing to show fear in front of him. "Damon." She whispered, seeing the hurt in his eyes. She wanted to comfort him, her entire being yearned to do so, but she didn't know how he would react. However her desire over-rode her self preservation and she walked over to him slowly, placing her hand on his arm. "She was released by one of the originals." She told him. Again, the truth, just not all of it.

------------------------------ ------------------------------ Damon looked around the cave with his eyes. He was clearly bored of this conversation. He wanted to make this girl angry not make her talk even more about some nonsense. "I don't think I remember asking you to go into detail." He didn't want to hear Elena go on about how she was exactly like Katherine. Sure, they looked exactly alike but the personalities were majorly different, from what he could tell of course. Katherine seemed more out there while Elena seemed reserved and all innocent like. She couldn't be that innocent considering she was dating Stefan, even if Stefan was the good guy. He actually believed Elena though, she was an exact look alike and usually people in the world didn't exactly look alike.
Damon refused to believe this. She didn't know him no one knew him, she couldn't act like she did. "What do you mean you know me? You know nothing about me." He was starting to get angry over this, she claimed she knew him but wouldn't he know her then? He wasn't going to fall for this trick, well if it was a trick. It was probably his brother that told her all of the things. But some things his brother didn't know so maybe it was Katherine? He couldn't be sure but he would have to find out somehow. He wasn't going to sit there looking like an idiot.
Elena was making no sense to him. She knew so much about everything, she even knew Katherine's real name. "You know her real name. Yay," he said sarcastically. This fact wasn't important to him at all, anyone could have found out her real name. "Katherine probably told you." It was weird to think that Elena was a Gilbert and a Petrova. He wondered how the two linked at some point. He would probably need an explanation from her if she lived past a week or so. He would most likely have his fun with her at least so it'd be a while but he would still have fun pushing her buttons. He didn't get why Elena was trying so hard to tell him that she did in fact know him, she didn't know half of it and never would. Why would he put his trust in her and tell her things about his past?
He looked at Elena showing anger in his face. "I don't know you. And I never told you anything." He was calm again. He just didn't like how Elena was saying he told her things when he didn't. How would she know what he has done, it just wasn't possible. He tried to add his sarcasm back. "I'm pretty sure I wouldn't tell a carbon copy my past." He wasn't having it and if Elena kept persisting that she knew him then he would just have to hurt her a little so she could shut up about it. "I don't add much detail to anything." He felt like he needed to know why Elena thought all those things, he had to get to the bottom of it.
All the tomb vampires were set free. He didn't care for them he just wanted Katherine. Damon walked away from her to think. He just couldn't understand why Katherine hadn't said anything. Did she not care that he had been looking for her, did she think that he had moved on? He felt a hand on his hand and he let it there for a couple of seconds and turned around and backed up. He didn't need to be close with this girl. He raised an eyebrow. "Trying to comfort me Elena?" He said it with a seductive smile. He was trying to act like he didn't care Katherine was out, he just pretended to shake it off. He had no humanity in him and didn't care. He needed to find Katherine though, that was his goal.
What Elena had said confused him, he didn't know what those things or people were. "Originals? Refresh my memory on that." He had never heard of them and Elena made it seem like he was supposed to remember that term. Maybe this girl was just living in a fantasy and he was in it, he was good looking after all so it made sense to him. Damon wanted to run out of this cave and just go home to think about things but Elena had the answers while he had the questions. For some reason he had a lot forming in his mind, more than usual. He wasn't expecting to be in this cave for long but then the carbon copy showed up.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She could tell that she was making him angry but she didn't think honestly there was a way at the moment that she could refrain from angering him. No matter what answers she gave him unless she flat out lied would amuse him or make him happy so really what was the point of trying to keep from annoying him? She knew better than to lie to him because for some reason he usually could tell if she was lying. Granted he hadn’t been able to tell in the beginning when they had first known each other so maybe since apparently he didn’t know who she was that would still work, but she didn’t want to take the chance and be proven wrong.
Hearing him say that she knew nothing about him when it was clear that she actually did she bit back a retort about how she knew more about him than she actually wanted to know. Instead she figured she would pull out more information that she knew, though unfortunately Damon wasn't one to give her the finer details of his life so she had to dig deep to try and figure out things that she could tell him that would prove that she did in fact know who he was. “I know a lot more than you think.” She told him honestly, her eyes boring into his as she tried to make him understand that she really did know him.
“I know about Sage and how she was the one who taught you how to compel women to get what you wanted from them.” She stated, realizing that it probably wasn’t the best thing to say since he could very well do the same thing to her (though he wouldn’t get very far if he wasn’t on vervain himself as she was putting it in her drinks at the moment to keep herself safe not only from compulsion but also from Stefan as bad as it was to say. It had been Lexi’s idea with Stefan trying to get back on the wagon so to speak to make sure that not only did she have her bracelet (and now the necklace that she had found) on her but that she made sure it was in her blood just in case he lost control. Lexi hadn’t put Stefan back on vervain yet because she needed him to be a tiny bit better before she did…which was one of the reasons that she wasn’t letting him leave the house. She didn’t want to take the chance of Klaus finding him and compelling him again.
“I know about how you and Stefan used to be best friends until Katherine came along. I know that you blamed Stefan for Katherine being captured because your father had spiked his drink and when she bit him it proved that she was a vampire.” She told him, desperately trying to think of other things that only Damon could have told her.
“Katherine wouldn’t tell me her real name!” She told him, getting a bit angry. “She hated me up until about a month ago for your information.” She stated honestly. “She and I didn’t see eye to eye on a lot of things up until recently so trust me when I say, it was you who told me what her real name was!” She told him before her eyes lit up, remembering exactly how he had told her. “I had been looking into my parentage and you told me and I quote “You didn't dig deep enough." Then you handed me a book that said Petrova on it. "Katherine originally came from Europe. Petrova was her real name. Katerina Petrova, to be exact." I asked you how you knew and you told me. "Back when, I saw it engraved on an old heirloom. Men snoop too, you know." She told him, hoping that knowing exactly how he had found out about Katherine's real name from only something that he would know that it was prove that they did actually know one another.
She groaned when he tried to play the seducer...yeah he had played that before with her. Unfortunately for him it had never worked. His charms had never been one to affect her...it had been his personality after he grew up and started becoming her friend that had attracted her to know. However he was back where he had been before so he definitely wasn't going to be able to seduce her now...not that he really had that much of a chance before. "I'm a nice person...I comfort my friends...And that's what you are Damon. You're my friend." She told him honestly before sighing when he asked her to explain about the originals.
“The original vampires…the vampires that created all of the other vampires. Klaus, Elijah, Finn, Rebekah, Kol, Mikael and Esther. Klaus is who Katherine has been running from for five hundred years.” She told him, knowing he would only care if it had to do with Katherine.

------------------------------ ------------------------------ Damon wanted to know why Elena was so eager to tell him that she knew him, he just wasn't going to believe it. She was trying so hard to tell him but he just wasn't going to believe it. "Looks like I have a stalker," he said while smirking and crossing his arms. Maybe Elena just did a lot of research on him and that's why she claimed she knew him and knew a lot. He just couldn't see himself telling her anything or even having a conversation with her unless it was about Katherine of course. He didn't trust easily and he hadn't told anyone anything about his life it was just personal.
"Sage," he became lost in thought. He remembered Sage and she was a hell of a woman. They met at a boxing match and from there things kind of progressed. He remembered when she caught him feeding on a girl. Those words were so perfectly clear, A woman isn't just for food, she's for pleasure. He never forgot those words. It made him the person he was today. She had taught him so much about the world, stuff he had never knew. He remembered how boring he was but Sage found the fun in him. Not only that but the sex was great, although know one knows that. "My hot teacher." He needed to figure out how Elena knew so much but he couldn't compel her for some odd reason.
Damon tilted his head. The stuff that was coming out of Elena's mouth, she knew all of that and some of it just couldn't be possible. "You know...so much." Something in him was telling him to trust her but he couldn't, shouldn't he trust his gut though? He didn't want to believe her, he couldn't. He hated thinking about that time. He looked at her with a little anger. "My brother's an idiot and he betrayed the woman he loved and me. Doesn't matter now though because he has Elena Gilbert," he teased a little. He wanted to pretend he was okay but he still hadn't forgiven his brother and probably never would but it didn't matter, it was just how it was. Elena still knew nothing, she didn't know the real Damon.
All of this sounded like Damon but it couldn't be him. He started pacing once again, he needed to think and fast. There had to be some logical reason why she knew so much. "You got a witch to tell you all of this didn't you? That Bennett." That had to be the reason! Maybe Stefan talked about it because Damon is just all around great. "Did you get a little snoopy Elena," he teased once again. He was seriously starting to get frustrated with this girl. She didn't know him and she has to be getting his information from some witch or something. He wasn't going to believe it until there was something that no one could know besides him.
Damon was furious know. He wasn't her friend, she needed to stop saying that now. He grabbed her by the shoulders tightly and pushed her against the wall. "Shut up! We're not friends, I don't know you!" He looked at her in the eyes with anger. He didn't know what he needed to think. His grip was growing tighter possibly bruising her, he didn't care though. After a couple of seconds he finally let her go and started to put his hands on his head. He was trying to think but it was as if something was blocking has memories. This girl didn't know him and he didn't know her, why was she persisting so much?
Katherine had never told him about Klaus. "Tell me more about this Klaus. Is he the big bad scary guy," he said in a sarcastic voice. If Katherine was still running from Klaus then Damon would easily just kill him. He wasn't afraid but why was Katherine so afraid of Klaus? Damon could take him on no doubt. He didn't care for the other names but he would definitely do some research on it. He wanted to know more yet he wanted to run from this cave and forget this meeting, Elena was treating him like some close friend when he wasn't. If she said it again she might end up with a broken wrist or something.
"I'm surprised my brother doesn't have his carbon copy on constant watch. Doesn't he know that someone could get their hands on you," he whispered in her ear. "Maybe even kill you." He was back to being scary, that's what he wanted to be and she needed to realize he was a vampire and he would do whatever he pleased. He wondered if she was scared yet and if not he would just have to do something to scare her more. He was the bad guy, not Klaus or whatever the other originals were.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She groaned, wishing she could bash her head against the wall repeatedly but knowing that would just give her more problems than the ones she had now she figured that would not be the best idea. How the hell could he think that she would stalk him!? Better yet, why the hell couldn’t he remember who the hell she was?! This was getting really frustrating for her seeing as they had gotten fairly close over the past couple of months with Stefan being gone. Hell even when Stefan was there they had still been close, but she didn’t rely on him as she had after Stefan had been taken from her.
She thought she might have had him when she mentioned Sage as he seemed to get his lost in his thoughts for a moment, however she was quickly shown that she was wrong, only hearing that Sage was his hot teacher. She could still remember him telling her (not that he wanted to mind you, however she had needed to understand why Sage being in town had affected him so much) that she had turned him into the person that he was. She had never really realized that it wasn’t Stefan forcing Damon to turn that had turned him into the monster that she had met originally…it was actually Sage who taught him how to use and abuse women…something that sickened her since it was a woman who taught a man to treat other women like that. Personally she saw her as a traitor to all women but that was another story for another day.
Seeing the anger on his face she wanted to take a step back, wishing that she wasn't against a wall. Damn, this was not a well thought out plan at all. She wasn't really sure what else to say and even though she had gotten a bit stronger over the past few months thanks to training with him and training with Alaric, that didn't mean she was anywhere near capable of fighting him or getting past him. She was definitely screwed if she didn't find a way to get herself out of this mess. Why didn't she just stay home? The bad part about it was that Stefan nor Lexi knew where she was! And unfortunately Damon didn't seem to be taking his eyes off of her long enough for her to send a text message to anyone so she was all alone.
She bit her tongue to keep herself from defending Stefan, knowing that it was the other way around and that Katherine had technically been the one to betray them. She wanted to ask it so badly and unfortunately sometimes she couldn't stop herself, hence her mouth opening on its own accord and asking a question that she knew she shouldn’t ask. "What did you expect Damon? How were you and Stefan going to share Katherine for all eternity? She turned both of you...so you know that she wanted both of you. Were you going to be okay with having essentially only a half a woman for all eternity?" She asked him, realizing after she said it that she shouldn't have but not being able to take it back.
"I didn't get a witch to tell me anything! You told me!" She told him, exasperated at this point. She didn't know how to make him understand, how to make him see. Feeling him push her up against the wall she groaned, feeling the rock dig into her but luckily she didn't feel it break any skin. "You were my best friend!" She told him angrily, looking him dead in the eye. "You were there for me when Stefan was taken away from me. You were there when Klaus tried to kill me. You were there through it all and now you can't remember!?" She stated, and then it clicked. Klaus. Oh god. "Damon, are you on vervain?" She asked him, knowing that if he really didn't remember that he would look at her like she was insane but needing to know anyway. Oh Jesus, if he wasn't on vervain then...she didn't even want to think about it.
"Klaus is an original. He is one of the first vampires...but he's also more. He's a vampire werewolf hybrid. His mother slept with a werewolf and thus he became...with werewolf blood in his system though he never knew it. It wasn't until after he was turned that they realized that he was both. Witches made his werewolf side dormant...but a few months ago he broke that curse..." She told him before shooting him a glare. "He used my blood, draining me until the point of my death in order to break that curse. That morning you forced your blood in my system, saying that you couldn't lose me. Luckily we found another way to keep me alive but that's how far you'd go to not lose me, and now you can't remember?" She asked him almost desperately.
Feeling his breath against her ear she froze, not believing that this was happening. She had trusted Damon for so long now that it seemed almost impossible that she could feel this uncomfortable with him now. She was afraid of him for the first time in a long time...and it was something that she hated. "Damon please." She whispered.

------------------------------ ------------------------------ All Damon wanted was to get Katherine back but right now he had to deal with Elena which was just annoying. She wasn't very useful, except with the original vampire thing. He had fun toying with her though, his brother wasn't here to stop him so Damon could literally break Elena's spinal cord right now if he wanted to. Just the thought amused him. He could even break one of her legs, it was more fun saying it to her though because then she would get scared. So much had happened to him over the years, no one could really see him as a predictable guy, besides his impulsive side.
He still didn't like the way she talked to him, he wasn't her friend and she needed to get that out of her head. Even if they met before, they weren't friends now. He wasn't going to believe her, it would take a lot for him to believe her. She could say whatever she wanted to him but all he could do was just be astounded with what she knew about his life. he would have to give her that, he was interested which was what made her still breathing. He would have killed her by now but with what she has been saying he just couldn't bring himself to do it. Maybe tomorrow he would be able to or a week or something, not that he cared of course.
This angered Damon. He wanted to break Elena right now. "You better watch what you say Elena or else the next thing you will be doing is limping home," he said in a serious tone. He was completely serious, he would break her foot right here and now. She had better shut up now before he did something she would regret, not him, he didn't regret anything. "She would have chosen me in the end. Not Stefan." He knew this for a fact, he had to be right! Why would Katherine ever choose Stefan, she must have loved Damon more. "If you want to talk about relationships then how about you? What do you think your life will be like? You're dating a guy who is older than your grandparents. While you age he still stays the same. It's clear that you aren't a vampire so do you think Stefan will sulk over your death forever? Once you're gone he'll do whatever the hell he wants while you rot in the ground." The words were probably hurtful but it was true. If Elena didn't turn then Stefan would get over her at some point in time and probably find a new girl, Elena would have to deal with that. And who's to say that she doesn't die in just a year by some supernatural.
Damon was just confused, his mind was muddled. Elena was still trying to get through to him and he just couldn't understand. He put his hands on his head again. "Stop it! Stop! Just stop!" He shook his head not wanting to hear it. They weren't friends they couldn't be. "I don't know what you're talking about!" He wasn't going to believe it, he was never there for her. Why did he have to remember when there was nothing to remember? The question Elena asked had confused him, why would he be on vervain? "That's a stupid question. Why would I be on vervain?" Maybe he was clueless right now, but obviously vervain would hurt him. "I'd never consume vervain Elena." Maybe she had a logical reasoning behind this.
Damon didn't get why she was still trying to make him remember her, he didn't and she had to let that go. He ignored it though. He had information on Klaus now and now all he had to do was find Klaus and kill him, simple enough right? "First vampire? Maybe I should pay him a visit." When he had time he would, but right now he needed to devise a plan. An original vampire was probably stronger than the regular vampire so he had to think of something. "If you tell me where he lives then I can kill him. Not that I'm helping you with your problems. I'm helping Katherine." He could care less for Elena, he just wanted to kill Klaus and then move on with his life and be with Katherine forever.
Damon smirked. Elena was afraid, or at least uncomfortable, which was what he wanted. She should be afraid, he could kill her at any second. "Are you a little uncomfortable?" He tried saying in an innocent voice, it didn't really work, he was less than innocent. He liked scaring her and he wasn't going to kill her but he could damage her a little right? "There's no one here to help you. Not even my brother," He said with an evil grin. This day was definitely turning out to be fun. He wondered what was going on through her head right now.

Post by Stefan Demetrio Salvatore on Oct 4, 2012 2:17:51 GMT -6
His fingers drummed across a nearly empty desk. His foot fidgeted a little. Mostly he was still, but Stefan’s head was pounding. It was a headache brought on by what could only be described as a restless boredom. He had tried just about everything, a little video game, a bit of Youtube, reading the Great Gastby twice over, but nothing seemed to help. Really, it was because entertainment wasn’t what he was craving. He was hungry. Even though Stefan was well on his way to recovering from his Ripper mode, he still had breakdowns at times. This morning he had locked himself in the bathroom and destroyed one of his shirts in anger, for no reason that he could remember other than that he wanted blood and he couldn’t have it. Lexi had literally placed the refrigerator under lock and key, a heavy steel padlock and chains around the door handles. He had tried to snap them, but they were new enough that even Stefan’s strength couldn’t budge them. They also seemed to be coated in some kind of vervain, since there was a slight burning sensation every time he placed his hands on them. So, without a ring, and Lexi gone to perhaps pick up blood or speak with the mysterious people that plucked her from the other side, Stefan had nothing to do but wait and try to distract himself. And it wasn’t working. Hours passed by with the vampire trying to think of something other than food, but once he had decided it was dark enough, and Lexi hadn’t returned from whatever errand she was going on, he had to go and find something. He’d just wander through the woods, take down a deer or something and be back before Lexi knew it. Hopefully that’s how it would go. He just had to be careful to stick to the center of the forest rather than risk meeting with another person. If he met a stranger, that stranger would most likely die. Slipping through the back door, Stefan ran at top speed, enjoying the feel of the open air, the freedom of finally being out of the house. He knew Elena thought that Lexi and she were being a bit overbearing, but that wasn’t the thing making him claustrophobic. It was being only able to go out at night that was more of an issue. Lazing around all day was something that he didn’t do well in his current state. Doing, running, jumping over fallen logs and silently weaving through trees was almost enough to make him forget about how he was starving. But still, it wasn’t enough to distract him from the scent of a squirrel, which he dashed off towards. It only had a little blood in it, but it soothed the monster in him for a moment. Now a bit calmer, he only walked in the woods, taking in the brief moments of stolen liberty, knowing he shouldn’t have been out here. And yet, Stefan walked deeper into the woods, merely him and his thoughts. Until another scent hit him. That was Elena. His first instinct was to go to her, knowing that she wouldn’t be safe at this time of night, and with her track record, it was likely that she could get hurt. And again, he was speeding through the trees, and eventually arrived at a cave. And then he scented Damon as well, and his brother’s words became clearer as Stefan moved through the cavern. The words his brother was saying were off, somehow. They sounded almost like his normal teasing comments, but there was an underlying darkness that made Stefan hurry. He didn’t like the idea of Elena and Damon alone in a dark cave even without the strange threats that his older brother was making. And then, as soon as he caught Elena’s eyes, full of distrust and a growing fear, that was all Stefan needed to act. He pressed forward with all of his speed and caught the crown of his brother’s head and gripped it tight. If he wanted to pull away from him, Damon would have to release Elena. But just in case that wasn’t enough, Stefan felt all of his frustrations and hunger bubble over into pure rage, ”Let go.” The voice he used was more of an animal’s growl than something that was human, but it was more about intent than anything else. Damon had to let go of his girl or else. +++ TAGS: Elena, Damon WORD COUNT: 747 NOTES: I didn't forget, I promise <3
