- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She could tell that she wasn’t making any headway with Damon and it was frustrating as well as frightening her. She hadn’t really ever been afraid of Damon, even when she knew what he was and what he was doing. Hell when she found out that that he had been hurting Caroline she had gone right up to him and pushed him in the chest, telling him to stay away from her or else she would go to the sheriff and report him. Now this was before she realized he was a vampire and realized how incredibly stupid her threat was, for more than one reason, but even after that she had been more afraid for those that she cared about then herself.
However the way that he was acting now made her realize how comfortable she had gotten with their friendship and how completely she had let her guard down around him. She felt vulnerable around him and while this was nothing new, she all of a sudden didn’t like the feeling, and wished nothing more than to build up the wall that she had kept around her when it came to him that he had only recently completely broken down.
She glared at him, wanting nothing more than to burst his bubble, something that she knew wasn’t right or smart in this case but she had had quite enough of acting as the helpless victim. She might as well show him that she wasn’t going to back down from this by telling him the damn truth. “Really? Because when she came back to Mystic Falls she sure as hell didn’t come back for you.” She told him, feeling his fingers digging deeper into her skin. “She came back for Stefan, and trust me when I say, I wasn’t at all happy about it so I’m not lying…why would I lie about someone wanting to steal my boyfriend?” She asked him with a sharp tongue, something that she was quite known for these days.
Even Stefan, during his ripper stint, had noticed it…she had gotten stronger. Not because she wanted to, but because it had become a necessity at this point. She didn’t want to not rely on anyone else, but she had to learn how to take care of herself after she had lost Stefan. She hadn’t wanted to rely on Damon because she knew it meant more to him than it did to her, so she had learned to take care of herself as best as she could.
It was the only way she had been able to make it through. She couldn’t help but flinch at his questions, knowing that they were completely relevant and yet not wanting to think about them. She knew that she and Stefan still had a lot to talk about, something that she had avoided time and time again. Do you ever think about us. What our future will be like, our memories? I think there are a lot of conversations to be had about our future, about the kind of life we could have together. Now there's a box that we shouldn't open. Oh, we can open it. Whenever you're ready. No. I'd rather just be here...Now.
She could still remember the feeling of Stefan’s lips against her ear as he whispered that he loved her…and could still remember the feeling of ultimate relief as he let her off the hook, though she had known then, just as she knew a few weeks later when she thought she was going to become a vampire, that there were conversations that she was avoiding…that had to be had.
Wincing as the pain grew steeper she tried to keep her bravado up, but it was fading fast. “You used to consume it on a daily basis so you couldn’t be compelled by an original!” She told him fiercely. “You had built up a tolerance to it…just like Katherine did…just like your brother did and just like Caroline has!” She told him, getting more and more angry as time went on.
She could hear the maliciousness dripping as he asked her if she realized that he could kill her, something that scared her to admit, but it was true. No one knew where she was, in which she was regretting with each of her breaths. How could she have been so stupid as to leave without letting someone know where she was going? This was definitely turning out to be one of her less than bright ideas.
Relief flowed through her as she heard a voice that she would know anywhere. She prayed that Damon would do as he said but she doubted that it would be that easy. "Stefan." She whispered, though she knew both vampires could hear her.

------------------------------ ------------------------------ What Elena said angered Damon greatly. How could she say that? He wanted to throw right now, but he was resisting right now. "You know nothing!" Why would Katherine want Stefan over him? It just didn't make sense to him, he couldn't comprehend what she was saying. If she wanted to play the truth game he would gladly play along. "So, she came for Stefan? Have you ever thought that Stefan was looking for Katherine to?" He got closer to her. "The doppelganger, don't you think he had other motivations for you?" He was just trying to get under her skin now which was hopefully working. Maybe he was right, maybe Stefan actually did have other motivations when he first met Elena and maybe Stefan was looking for Katherine as well.
Damon was growing tired of Elena and he knew that if she pissed him off anymore then she'd be regretting whatever words would be coming out of her mouth next. He wasn't the most patient guy but right now he was only getting information. It seemed as if he had everything though. What had been going on though, the way she talked about Katherine...he just felt furious for what she was saying, maybe she was right but he wasn't going to believe her just yet, he needed the proof. If she had any proof then okay, she was right the whole time and she can be happy that she was right but for now he wouldn't believe her.
She was still going on about the vervain but he had never touched that stuff, why would he? That was just suicidal to him. "I already told you that I haven't consumed anything." She didn't know him and she didn't know what he had been through, she had to stop insisting that she knew he had vervain in him. "And I've never met one of these originals to be compelled." He was tired of this, Elena needed to stop it now. He didn't even know a Caroline, maybe it was some girl he slept with awhile ago. He couldn't remember right now.
"Elena, Elena. You should know better to not irritate me since you claim to know me. I don't think Stefan would like it if he saw me snap your little neck," he still had a grip on her. He wasn't going to kill her or maybe he was, he wasn't too sure what he felt like doing. He just knew that he was enjoying himself way too much. He looked at Elena having a glare. Maybe, he could drink from her just for a little bit. It wouldn't be so bad right? He wouldn't take it all, he had control unlike his brother. He looked at her neck ready to bite but he felt someone grab his head.
Damon recognized that voice, and with that he grew a smirk upon his lips. "Hello, brother." A lot of memories flashed back with Damon, all the anger and the betrayal that Stefan had done to him when they were human. He started to grip harder on Elena. "That's not how the game works Stefan. You let go and maybe I'll consider letting go of Elena. You know I'll break her in a second," he gripped her even tighter wanting to hear a squeal out of her if she did. He wondered if Stefan would let go, Damon wasn't letting go without a fight. "Me and your I'm not sure what to really call her actually. Your girlfriend, phase, whore?" He had to put a smirk when he said that. He wanted to get under his brother's skin just to annoy him and piss him off.

As Elena and his brother recognized him in the darkness of the cavern, Stefan remained still and resolute, his gaze moving past Damon and to Elena as she whispered his name. Perhaps there was something he could absorb from a glance, her condition, anything to make this scenario make sense. Just a few days ago, Elena had praised his older brother for being a great help to her when Stefan had been under Klaus’ control, and Stefan himself had seen his girl bring out Damon’s humanity. And now, it appeared as if Damon had reverted somehow… or perhaps he was trying another tactic to rescue Elena in his typical amoral way. The only thing that made sense in the moment to Stefan was that perhaps his brother was attempting to turn Elena against her will for the second time. Even as Damon greeted him and then threatened him, Stefan cautioned himself to keep calm. Both brothers knew each other well enough, their varied strengths and weaknesses, and for some reason, Damon wanted to make trouble. The difference between the brothers, of course, was that Stefan knew he was more patient. Damon hated to lose, it was true, but he also despised being bored and Stefan would outwait him any day. And if Damon thought he was fast enough to hurt Elena, he would be in for a surprise when his brother snapped his neck first. As much human blood as he had been consuming, the younger Salvatore was pretty sure he was capable and unstable enough to do just that. And Damon would wake up later, so there was no true guilt to have over such an action. So, keeping his grip on the back of his brother’s head as tight as ever, Stefan muttered back, ”What kind of game are we playing, Damon? ‘Cause I don’t think going to get anything you want this way.”Bits and flecks of emotion started to rush around inside of the vampire’s head as his brother continued to speak. Stefan’s first instinct was to tear him off of Elena by force and hightail it to safety with Elena in his arms, but things just weren’t adding up. Unless Lexi had really interpreted her phone calls with Damon incorrectly, it had seemed that his brother had a vested interest in knowing Stefan was on his way to being recovered from his last stint as the Ripper. Not that he expected to be greeted by his brother with a big gesture of affection, but Stefan thought that this type of hostility they once had between them was over. But now, Damon’s personality had entirely flipped, including how little he seemed to care for Elena. It even seemed almost like he had no idea who she was. Stefan completely understood that his brother was trying to jab at him, but he beat down his ire and tried to think of what would truly ensure his girlfriend’s safety. After a moment that felt longer than it probably was, Stefan let go of his brother’s scalp, though he did circle to where Damon could see his face out of the corner of his eye. He was also pretty sure he was close enough to interfere with any harm that might befall Elena. ”Damon, I don’t know why you’re doing this, but it doesn’t accomplish anything,” Stefan reasserted. Something was definitely wrong with his brother, but directly saying that to Damon would probably just make him more aggravated than he already was. It had seemed just a little while ago that Damon had tried to talk him out of killing his sort of girlfriend, that reporter woman. And Stefan remembered quite clearly that he had claimed to kill her just for the fun of it. If Damon had some crazy idea in his head or had his humanity affected in some way, Stefan knew better than anyone that his brother would go through with his threat if pushed. Thus with a steady but smooth tone, Stefan began to speak, ”Killing Elena is only going to make Klaus and his army come after us. And that will definitely put a kink in whatever you hope to get. The question is: what are you hoping for?”+++ TAGS: Elena, Damon WORD COUNT: 705 NOTES: Trying to play it cool... :3

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She hated to have this same conversation with Damon that she had had with him several times over, but she knew that she had to be patient…or at least as patient as she could be without blowing up at him. “Actually yes, I have asked myself that many times. Especially after I found out about Katherine. However he thought, just like you did, that she was locked in the tomb. He never tried to open it and he tried to stop you from opening it!” She told him, glaring at him. “So I highly doubted he wanted Katherine. Especially when she rolled back into town and told him that she came back for him, he looked her in the eyes and told her that he hated her.” She stated, feeling more and more anger build up in her.
It was strange since she got along with Katherine fairly well now since technically she was the only parent that she had left, however the anger she had felt for her after everything with Stefan was still there and she wondered briefly if it would ever fully go away. Granted she had bigger things to worry about than Katherine’s former obsession with her boyfriend but still, it was something that she thought about.
Wincing as Damon's grip tightened when Stefan walked in she looked at her boyfriend dead in the eye, pleading with him to do something but to not hurt himself or Damon at the same time. She didn't know how to tell him that Damon didn't know who the hell she was but she knew that she had to do something. She doubted Stefan was going to like the fact that they were A.) Alone together in a cave and B.) That Damon had her in a grip that was starting to really hurt.
She let out a groan when Damon tightened his grip even more. "Damon please." She whimpered, hating the weakness that she was showing but knowing that Damon had no love for her at the moment so he would kill her without a second thought. Hearing him call her a whore bothered her but she kept quiet, not wanting to antagonize him anymore. She didn’t have any idea how this was all going to go down but for some reason she wished she had vampire blood within her because at least if Damon did kill her she’d come back. Then again she’d be a vampire so that wouldn’t really do much good to her, but still she definitely didn’t feel like she was ready to die.
Hearing Stefan saying that he didn't understand she figured she might as well clue him in before Damon really did kill him. "Something's wrong with him Stefan." She cried out. "He doesn't know who I am or anything that's happened since." She muttered, trying to get him to understand just how dangerous this really was. She knew that Stefan could take his brother now with the amount of human blood that he had been consuming recently, but that didn't stop her from worrying.
Hearing Stefan’s words about not killing her because of Klaus hurt her, but she tried to hide it. She knew that Stefan was trying to play it cool so to speak but after everything that he had said and done to her recently without his humanity it hit a bit too close to home for her. Looking down she bit her lip, taking a deep breath before stealing herself to not let any emotion show on her face, keeping it blank and trying desperately to keep her wits about her. All she needed was for Damon to loosen up a tiny bit so she could make a break for it, knowing that Stefan would be there to watch her back.

------------------------------ ------------------------------ "I'm having a hard time believing you." Damon wasn't going to give into this trust thing so easily. Why should he believe Elena right away? he just wasn't. Damon had never been to the tomb and he hadn't seen his brother in a long time, all Elena was doing was lying. Something made him want to remember these things but it was like something was blocking him, he really had no clue what this doppelganger was saying. It seemed as if Elena was a little jealous about Katherine wanting Stefan, if it were true of course. Damon wasn't going to believe it until he went to the source. Or maybe he was just in denial? He really didn't know at this point. He could believe some girl that claimed to know him or he could go to Katherine who knew more than Elena, or equally. God, why was it so difficult? He came into this town to free Katherine and such certain events changed.
Damon wasn't going to listen to Elena or Stefan for that matter. He saw the plead in her eyes which made him feel a tinge of guilt but he had no humanity. "Game? C'mon Stefan you know I always win at my games," he smirked. He wasn't going to lose by Stefan, it just wasn't going to happen. "There's nothing wrong with me!" He snapped at Elena with a growl. He hated how she thought he was broken, he wasn't broken and he was himself. Elena had to shut up before Damon ripped her throat out which was tempting but he wouldn't, the suspense was more fun. He should have broke her ankle so Stefan could be pissed off but there was more Damon could do.
"You should know exactly why I'm doing this. Does making your life a living hell ring a bell?" He was of course referring to the past where he swore he would make Stefan feel every single pain and suffering in his life when Stefan forced him to drink blood. "Accomplish nothing. I think it brings quite a satisfaction, don't you think Elena," he loosened the grip and stroked her cheek. He knew that his brother didn't like it when he touched Elena, so this was a perfect way of aggravating him. He lived to make Stefan suffer and this was just perfect. He wondered how Stefan was feeling right now, maybe pissed? Jealous? Both? Damon just wanted something out of him. Would he get something out of him? Possibly, it all depended how patient Stefan was.
Damon was tired of hearing of Klaus, he didn't know the guy but he was getting on his nerves already. He was just some guy that had a weakness. "Oh yeah the bad guy right? I'm shaking," he said sarcastically. He just wanted to see who this Klaus was and wanted to see why everyone thought he was so scary, they should be afraid of Damon, he was the unpredictable one. "Stefan with all the questions, you're lucky I have all the answers. I'm not sure if I'm ready to tell you though." If Stefan wanted to know what Damon was hoping for then it would take a lot for him to get it out of Damon. Damon wasn't one to tell something so easily and Stefan should have known that.
This day didn't really go as planned. It was a good thing he went into the cave because he would have wasted his time looking for Katherine when she wasn't in the tomb, which would have just pissed Damon off. He looked at Elena. He knew that one of the two was probably thinking of an escape plan but Damon wouldn't let either of them leave, he wanted to talk. "Isn't this a nice confrontation?" He loved toying with people's emotions and playing his games, he just wondered how long Stefan could last without blowing his top. If Elena tried to run then Stefan would distract Damon and Elena would escape. That wasn't going to be the case, Damon was stronger, he had human blood in him while Stefan had animal blood, no surprised would appear.

Elena’s soft cry of pain instantly made Stefan regret that he ever let Damon loose. Yes, intellectually everything told him that not pushing Damon was probably the best choice, the best way for Elena to escape with the least amount of harm to her, but to see the panic and hurt in her eyes caused by his brother killed the younger Salvatore. But how exactly could he do anything at this point, with his girlfriend still ensnared in Damon’s grasp? No, this was a waiting game, and it was obvious the more patient Stefan could be, the better the outcome was. It was just absolute agony to be stuck watching for now. He just hoped that Elena would understand what he was trying to accomplish. The smarmy remark his brother gave him only caused Stefan to try to glare a hole in his head. He might have replied, but before he could, Elena managed to blurt out an explanation for Damon’s strange behavior, to which his brother naturally freaked out about. Every muscle in Stefan’s body tensed, unsure if Damon was going to try to assault Elena, but nothing came of it, and Stefan was left on pins and needles, more aggravated by the threat to his girlfriend than any of the verbal jabs that Damon had tried to stick his brother with. But beyond that, Stefan’s mind began to run thick with thoughts of how Damon’s amnesia was possible. Was it magic? Compulsion? Who was behind it and what was their plan for his brother? Could it be that their mystery culprit wanted Elena dead and had somehow sent Damon after her? Damn it, there were too many unanswered questions and not enough time or leads to answer them. And Elena’s safety was the ultimate priority. Maybe Stefan could gain something later after his girlfriend was safe and he had punched Damon in the face a couple of times. In a brotherly way, of course. ”Right.” The reply to the umpteenth restatement of Damon’s unlife long goal was flat and slightly bitter. Of course, since he had been placed back to before he had returned to Mystic Falls, all of his annoying guilt tripping, screw with your life ambitions had been reestablished as well. Though he pushed it way down to ensure none of this showed, it did sting a little bit to have their sibling relationship that had just begun to mend dashed by this sudden loss of memory. Maybe it was just his emotions running hot again, straining against the patience he was showing on the outside, waiting for his moment. And the moment came, though Stefan didn’t know exactly how to feel about it. Damon had released his grip a little, which was great. It was the break Elena and he had been waiting for. The fact that Damon had only done it to run his fingers across Elena’s cheek like a creep was not good at all. All he could do was quickly glance in Elena’s direction, a split-second look to signal that she had to get ready to run very soon. She could probably see the anger welling up in him, the rage glinting in his eye, but he wasn’t there just yet. Had he been hungrier, perhaps that would have been a different story. But Damon would get his reaction soon enough. Of course, now knowing that Damon didn’t remember much, Stefan didn’t even try to bother to explain who Klaus was or how the hybrid was the only reason why Damon was standing there right then. Not to mention that he was the biggest threat to everyone’s safety. He just allowed Damon to keep talking, watching more than processing what he was saying. Both brothers probably knew that Elena’s only chance of escape was if Stefan stopped his brother from pursuing her, so the element of surprise would come only from how strong Stefan actually was. Hopefully that would be enough. Bearing his weight straight down into his heels, Stefan hunched down and in a blur, moved to tackle his brother, as if they had been playing football. He wasn’t completely sure how much strength he actually had put into it, but he was angry and full of human blood. Anything was possible. +++ TAGS: Elena, Damon WORD COUNT: 711 NOTES Yup, got a reaction from him :3

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -If this was a normal day and Damon was annoying her this badly, she probably would have taken a swing at him. Granted he would have stopped her from hitting him just like he always did but at least she would have gotten some of her frustrations out on him. However with him seemingly not knowing who she was she knew better than to even try that for two reasons. One of them was the fact that she knew that it would just piss him off even more and she really didn’t want to end up dead by the hand of her boyfriend’s brother (who was one of her best friends) and the other reason was because at the moment she couldn’t move enough to even think about doing anything other than struggling against him.
Feeling his grip slacken a bit though not enough for her to get away, she cringed as he stroked her cheek. Usually it wouldn't bother her as they had gotten closer over the past several months since Stefan had been away, but this just felt wrong, sinister somehow. She loved Damon in a way but not in the way that she loved Stefan which made the whole situation that much worse. She knew that they were treading on dangerous grounds between Damon seemingly having no memory and Stefan being on human blood for the past couple of months...this was a fight that she had no idea who would win and she wasn't sure if she wanted to see it or be anywhere near it when it happened.
She knew for a fact that Damon actually did fear Klaus, though he'd never admit it. He feared him because he was seemingly unbeatable, especially now that he was a hybrid. Fearing Klaus had become second nature to her so it wasn't a surprise, but she was pretty sure that Damon, the normal Damon who knew everything that had been going on in the past few months, knew better enough than to anger him (unless he got annoyed in which case Damon tended not to think) so this new Damon who didn't have any idea what Klaus was capable of concerned her.
She groaned when Damon's grip on her (not that it had tightened) really started to bother her. She wanted to get away, get to Stefan and get the hell out of this cave. "Damon please." She muttered, though knew it would have no effect on him. This was the Damon that she had heard about from Stefan in stories of their life as vampires. This was the Damon that he had been before she met him, and she could honestly say that she didn't care for him.
She watched Stefan as he seemed to take in Damon’s every move, trying to figure out the exact moment when he moved to strike. She didn’t want Damon or Stefan to get hurt but she knew at the moment she had to care about her safety more than Stefan’s only because she was the one who technically couldn’t protect herself.
Continuing to stare at Stefan’s face she saw the moment a fury came over him before he launched himself at Damon. She moved quicker than normal, moving out of the way at the last second before she heard two bodies collide and she ran, full tilt, towards the exit of the caves. She wanted to stay, wanted to make sure that both men were alright, but again, she knew she couldn’t. She had to get the hell out of there because if she didn’t, she knew that Stefan would be distracted and that could only get him hurt worse.

Post by Damon Guiseppe Salvatore on Oct 28, 2012 15:39:46 GMT -6
------------------------------ ------------------------------ Damon was enjoying himself and he didn't want this to end at all. Looking at his brother and Elena, he just could feel the tension. He knew that his brother was the patient one, Damon was never patient but right now he needed to beat Stefan. There was probably some kind of plan going in his head and Damon didn't know this plan but he knew he would be attacked at some point, the thing is he would be ready. His brother was on animal blood which means Damon could take him and then catch Elena if she tried to run. Damon was one step ahead of the game, like always. He wasn't going to back down from anything, not now. Why back down when he was winning?
Damon never did understand why Stefan would drink animal blood, it was just not in a vampire's nature to do that. It made them weak and they weren't used to controlling their hunger for human blood once it shown. Stefan the ripper, he remembered those days. Damon was the one that had the most control in drinking blood and that was why he would never choose to drink from an animal, it was just degrading and stupid. Her was a vampire and he was the predator. Maybe one day Stefan would learn, or maybe one day Damon would tempt him, that day could be now. Damon was trying to plan right now but it just wasn't working at the moment.
"Is that bitterness I hear in your voice Stefan?" Damon was of course toying with Stefan. He would be doing so for a long time. At least Stefan knew what Damon was talking about which made him feel good. Stefan knew that Damon would make his life hell for all eternity. Damon would be sticking in Mystic Falls for a while until he got bored at least. He could have fun with Elena and her friends and Stefan well he was already pissing Stefan off so he knew it'd be easy to make the boy's life miserable. He just wanted his brother's plan to take in action, it would be fun to see what he came up with just to try and beat Damon.
Damon ignored Elena's plea. She needed to shut up already, why would he care if she said please? He didn't care for her and she had to get that through her head. He watched his brother carefully to see what he would be doing. It was silent. Stefan went to tackle Damon and Damon smirked. Damon fell to the ground realizing that his brother was stronger than he expected. He looked at Elena who started running away. "Looks like someone upgraded to human blood. What you drinking from your girlfriend now," he grinned and went to push his brother off of him.
"What's wrong Stefan? Not enough of Elena's blood in your system?" Damon went to tackle Stefan again, but he pretended to go for him but his target wasn't Stefan at all. "1. 2, 3, Hut!" Damon spun and ran in front of Elena. "Don't tell me you're leaving so soon. The games just getting started," he grabbed her and spun her to face Stefan. "Have any other plans Stefan? Maybe if you attempt another one then I won't consider drinking from Elena. He started to show his veins and fangs and went near Elena's neck. He then decided that he wasn't going to, at least not yet. For some reason it didn't seem right to. Damon wasn't sure what was happening, he just couldn't bring himself to bite Elena, but why?
Damon let go of Elena still wondering why he couldn't bite this girl. It's like he didn't want to. He couldn't think right now but all he could do was get out of there. He turned around and with vamparic speed ran out of the cave. Something was blocking him, he didn't know what was blocking his mind, it was like he was missing something. He ran into the woods and then went back to the Salvatore household. He went into his room with a bottle of rum, he needed a drink. He needed to understand why he didn't bite Elena. It would have been so easy, but it wasn't.
