atheryn 'Kathy' Anne O'Connor was a bit dazed. She couldn’t believe that she had finally found her brother. It was an out of this world experience if she had ever had one (and becoming a vampire isn’t really a picnic so she figured she knew a bit about what she was talking about). She had spent the last two hundred plus years trying to find her older brother to accidentally stumble upon him in a cemetery…yeah…karma was a weird thing. So now here she stood, watching her brother take care of the blonde woman who seemed to own him. Kathy was surprised, she would fully admit it, when she heard her brother tell the blonde that he was going to call someone to pick her up and not question it. She didn’t know the blonde all that well but the fire in her eyes when he ordered her not to argue was something that not even she could miss. The biggest surprise was when the blonde listened to him and didn’t argue, instead allowing another girl to come and pick her up, something Kathy had a feeling that didn’t happen very often. Once the blonde was off she headed towards her car, getting in the driver’s seat, not allowing her brother to take over. She knew it would most likely freak her brother out that she was driving since she was technically only 11 and yet she had a fake I.D. that stated she was 17. She knew that it was hard for her to make herself look older but she could do it with a lot of practice over the years. Thankfully, since it made her life it lot easier. It was hard being as young as she was and being alone, so learning to make herself look older definitely came in handy over the years. “You’re really worried about her aren’t you?” She asked him once he got into her car. She could see the fear on his face, though she had no idea if it was because she was driving, that he was in a pink and black car, or that he was worried about the blonde woman…she had really no idea. They used to be so close that she could almost read his mind, she knew him that well. Unfortunately it had been a long time since they had been near each other. It would take her a while to learn how to read her brother again, but she definitely looked forward to it. She turned her attention back to the road, hoping that she could pack all her things quickly before it got light outside. She knew it wouldn’t take her long but she also wanted to change before heading back to the blonde’s house so she could at least be comfortable. She had a feeling that for the first couple of nights she was going to sneak into her brother’s room and sleep with him either on the floor or at the bottom of his bed like she did when they were both human. She didn’t like sleeping in new places and it always took her awhile to get acclimated before being able to sleep. Word Count- 562 Tag- Buffy & Angel Outfit- Click here to view Kathy’s outfit. [/IMG] - - - - - - - - - - -She groaned as she felt her back pop. She prayed that Angel’s superior hearing didn’t hear that or else she knew she’d be in bed for the remained of the weekend and that was something she really didn’t have the time for. It was strange that she fell back so quickly into allowing Angel to take care of her but it was comfortable. However at the same time she was completely uncomfortable with allowing someone to take care of her. It was strange and she knew the thought itself was completely contradictory but it was the truth. She knew that she needed a hot bath and a good night’s sleep and she would be good as new, however Angel was a tad bit overprotective at times.
Once the two vampires and her reached the cars she could see the hesitation in his eyes and she felt awful for being the cause of it. She knew that he was worried about her or else he wouldn’t think twice about allowing her to go off on her own. She knew that he needed his baby sister right now more than anything and she also knew that Kathy needed him as well. She could tell by the way that Kathy watched him that she was almost afraid he would vanish again. She knew that feeling well. After Angel had returned from hell she had an almost unhealthy obsession with knowing where he was at all times for fear she would wake up and it would all be a dream. It was easy during the day because she knew he was at the mansion, but at night she always wanted to know where he was. She would admit to having turned around and followed him home a few times just to make sure he got there. She had a feeling he knew it but he had never let on if he did.
She opened her mouth to tell the brooding vampire that she could take care of herself and to go with Kathy to make sure she got to the house alright, but before she could Angel opened his mouth instead. She groaned loudly when he stated that he was calling someone to come pick her up. Alright, this was officially ridiculous. She wanted to yell at him and tell him that she had taken care of herself for several years after he left for Los Angeles and she didn’t need him to take care of her now…but she refrained. She could tell by the look in his eyes that he was worried about her and she really didn’t want to cause him anymore unneeded stress at the moment. Either way she was annoyed by the fact that she was being treated like a child but again, the look in his eyes told her that she wouldn’t win this fight. She knew that Angel and her could go head to head on a lot of different things and it tended to be a long battle to see who would win.
She heard his tone when he asked her not to argue with her and she relented, waiting for Mary to come pick her up. Mary was the only other potential at the moment who was currently living with them other than Raven who was moving in two days later. Mary was actually heading back to Rome next week so it would make life a lot easier. She knew that the potentials tended to be a bit fearful of Angel because he was a vampire. She knew that it had to be hard for them since their senses were telling them that he was dangerous but their mentor was telling them that if they tried and staked him they would not be happy with the results. She knew it had to be hard, but luckily they ignored it as best as they could.
“Fine.” She muttered and waited as Mary drove up. She grinned at the potential who she had grown to know over the past few months. Are you drunk Buff? Is that why you needed a ride? The blonde slayer laughed a bit, shaking her head. “Yeah, because I drink so often.” She stated with a grin. “Nah, had a run in with a vampire. So Mr. Overprotective over there thinks that I need a babysitter.” She stated before getting in the car. “We’ll be back at the house Angel, meet us there.” She stated before letting Mary drive off.
However she didn’t let the potential go far before telling her to pull over. You do realize he’s going to not be happy when he realizes what you’re doing? The blonde nodded. “Yeah, most likely he’ll be pissed…but he’ll get over it. He’s not the boss of me and I can’t on good conscious let a vampire roam free when I know he’s already pissed at not getting a chance at slayer blood.” She told the potential before telling her to head off and she’d meet her back at the house.
Once she watched Mary drive off she walked back towards the cemetery, watching from behind the tree the tail lights of Kathy’s car drive off before heading back towards the cemetery. She could sense a vampire near, she just prayed it was the one that got away. She headed in the direction that her senses were calling her and luckily came upon the vampire that got away. It took her a few more minutes that it normally would since she wasn’t as blurry with speed as she usually was but luckily the vampire got a stake through the heart and she was still awake. That was definitely a good thing in her book.
Once outside the cemetery she grabbed her keys out of her back pocket (luckily she hadn’t lost them nor had Angel requested them when he had called her the ride) and jumped into her car, groaning as her head spun a bit. She knew it probably wasn’t the wisest idea to drive at the moment since she was fairly certain she had a concussion (it would be gone by tomorrow) but she needed to get home and she didn’t want to leave her rental near a cemetery.
Once in the driveway she groaned loudly as she dragged her tired body out of the car, limping up towards the door. Once inside she simply collapsed on the couch, not wanting to make the trek up the stairs. She yelled out if anyone was home and when no one said anything back she simply laid her head back against the couch cushions. She had to stay awake at least until Angel and Kathy got back so she could show them their rooms before she fell into a coma…or at least that was the plan.
Yeah, how often did plans ever go her way?

--------------------------------------------It really hurt him to feel like he had to choose between the two of them. Buffy Summers had been his only true love and he knew he loved her more than anything. Never in his life had he felt like he felt about her about another woman. Still, Katheryn was his family and if it ever really came down to it, he knew what his decision would be. She was the only family the vampire had nowadays and conveniently for him, she had been the closet to Liam anyways. No matter how much he was in love with Buffy, that could never come before his sister.
In love?
He halted his own brakes mentally, stopping to think about that for a second. It was no secret to anyone with eyes that the two of them loved each other. Always had, always would. Were they in love with each other still? Quite honestly, Angel didn't really think he'd ever truly fallen out of love with her. Sure it may have seemed like he'd moved on, but that was only because he'd had to seem that way. He knew that she deserved better and the only way for her to move on was for him to as well. No matter how hard he had tried to actually do it instead of just acting like he had, he hadn't been successful thus far.
The look in her eyes showed Angel that she really wanted to disagree with him, to not let him make any decisions for her. In his mind, he didn't see it as a bad thing honestly. He had always been willing to take care of her even though she may not have wanted him to, and still apparently didn't. She then sulked off to the car when the potential arrived, making a comment about his over protectiveness to the girl. He only smirked at this comment, he felt like they were back in Sunnydale. She had commented on this aspect of his so many times that it seemed almost natural to hear it. He never disagreed with her when she said it as they both knew that it was true.
Turning back to Katheryn, he slid into the passenger seat of the car. It felt odd to have his baby sister driving him but he didn't protest. She had been on her own all this years and was still alive so that told him she could take care of herself just fine. He knew he would still act protective of her but he didn't care at the moment. He was actually quite surprised at how well she seemed to drive once they were actually on the road and pulling away from the cemetery.
The vampire looked out the window as his sister drove, hoping that he wasn't seeming too distant. It had been a long day and he was growing tired, he hadn't been sleeping well at all lately. "How far is your motel?" he asked her quietly. He didn't mind the car ride, no matter how long. Even if they weren't chatting up a storm it was still nice to just enjoy each other's company. It had been too long since he'd seen her and he hoped he'd never have to go through life without her again. He could see them being together forever, just as he could see himself being with Buffy.
As his thoughts took him back to the slayer, he noticed that he was actually quite surprised that she'd actually listened to him. In fact, he was in disbelief that she hadn't put up a fight at all. This made him feel like she had an alternative plan of some sort but he wasn't going to babysit her. She was an adult and could make her own decisions, even if he didn't always agree with them.
Idly he sat there, watching the scenery go by him as they drove through the town. It truly was a beautiful little town, though it was quite little indeed. It didn't take them that long at all to get to their destination. Once they pulled into the motel, they both got out of the car and began to walk down the outdoor corridor towards her room.
His face showed his tiredness but he tried not to make it obvious. "Which room is yours?" he asked her, wondering which one out of many that it was. He was glad to see that the motel she was staying in wasn't just some fleabag motel. Honestly, he had been wondering if she'd been doing okay financially. Even vampires weren't just mysteriously rich half of the time, himself included. He did just fine and got by but he wasn't a millionaire.
After they finished up packing Katheryn's stuff, they would go back to the house Buffy and the gang had rented. His mind was bringing him to thoughts of Buffy, he was worried about her. A concussion was likely as she'd been unconscious and she would need to be watched no matter how much she disliked it. After a couple more minutes they finally reached what seemed to be her room and he waited for him to let her inside. --------------------------------------------Tag: Katheryn, Buffy Word count: 877 Notes: This post wasn't the greatest, for some reason I felt like it was a bit awkward because I didn't want to godmod. Maybe Katheryn can godmod a bit to bring us to the house? Unless she wants to stay at the motel and talk to Angel for a bit, but that would leave Buffy's post difficult to respond to. Up to you guys! atheryn 'Kathy' Anne O'Connor giggled. “I know, it’s weird for you to see me driving right?” She asked him, knowing her brother well enough to know that it was odd. Technically she was only 11 so it would have been weird if it wouldn’t have been weird for him to watch his baby sister driving…however it was still funny to see the look on his face. “Liam, you looked like you sucked on a lemon.” She told him, giggling again before turning down the street that her hotel was on. It wasn’t the nicest hotel, but wasn’t the worst either. She could have afforded a lot better of a hotel than she was in but there weren’t a whole lot of choices in the small town of Richmond so she dealt with what she could and would deal with the rest as it came. “It’s not far.” She told him, answering his earlier question about where her hotel was. Pulling into the parking lot she quickly shut off her car and opened the driver’s side door, laughing again at the sight her brother made getting out of her black and hot pink car. She would definitely need to remember to take a picture later and use it for black mail…he’d kill her for it but oh well, it would make her laugh. As she headed towards her room she heard her very impatient older brother ask her which room was hers. “Geez I’m going there now. Take a chill pill.” She told him before grabbing his hand and dragging him towards her room. Once there she opened up the door quickly and led the way in the small room with the heavy drapes across the large windows. “Ta-da.” She said, mocking a game show host showing off a prize. Okay, she was acting ADD but she was nervous…this was her older brother that she had been looking for for years and now here he was and she wasn’t sure how to act. Most of her just wanted to throw herself into his arms and cuddle with him for the next few days but she kept herself from doing it out of sheer courtesy. Kathy grabbed her belongings quickly, having not been there for very long her bags were still relatively packed. She ran to the bathroom to grab her shampoo and all her other toiletries before throwing them into the last bag and zipping it up. She had two bags of belongings with her, the rest was in storage and would be dealt with at another time. Grabbing her two bags and her laptop case, she walked back over to her older brother. “Okay, I’m ready.” She told him, waiting for him to lead the way out. --------------------------------------------It was indeed strange to see his baby sister driving, it felt foreign to him. For one, he was used to doing all the driving as he usually did. Two, she was still a little girl to him. The fact that she had grown up and changed so much over the years made him sad. She was no longer the little girl that he used to chase around the common area. Katheryn was wearing makeup now and driving and it all freaked him out a bit. He was glad to see that she’d survived and got by alright though, that she hadn’t been struggling. Although he knew there was probably still quite a bit that he didn’t know that she had been through and he hoped she’d be willing to tell him someday.
His face turned to meet his sister’s eyes and a small smile creeped across his handsome features. ”Just a little weird” he said with a small laugh. He then turned to look back out onto the road in front of them. His face must’ve changed expressions yet again and his sister noticed. It hadn’t been because of her but instead because of Buffy. ”I have a feeling Buffy may not have listened to me..” he told her with a grim look. It was the truth as he did have a bad feeling and had since he’d watched the slayer appear to leave the cemetery. ”And okay plus, I’m not exactly a fan of pink” he added, allowing an attempt of a smile to show.
Angel didn’t need to take a chill pill, he was just trying to say something so they weren’t walking in blinding silence. It hadn’t been his impatient nature as he was actually extremely patient, though it may not have seemed it. The motel she was staying in was just average, it at least told him that she hadn’t been using her vampiric nature to live like a celebrity. Some did as such, using their powers to kill and take the money of the wealthy. The powers hadn’t gone to her head but he knew that this was because of her soul. The fact that she had a soul said wonders about her in general, even that she’d been so pure and loving as a child that even the demon couldn’t take her soul from her. It didn’t surprise him all that much, it was just that he’d never seen it happen prior to seeing her.
He smiled as she showed him to her room, It was small but seemed cozy as well. As she packed he simply stood there waiting, not wanting to ask if she needed help. Not because he didn’t want to help, but because he just didn’t want to overstep any boundaries. ”Have you been in town long?” he asked quietly. Angel himself hadn’t even been in town more than a week so far, though he was growing more and more comfortable at the slayers’ house. Everyone seemed to avoid him to some measure, he wasn’t sure if It was out of fear of him or because of respect for Buffy. Nonetheless, he had hardly talked to anyone but Buffy, Willow, and Faith. At least he would now his sister to talk to and he seen them sitting down, talking for hours once she was settled into the house as well.
After she was done and had announced it that she was ready, he nodded and began to lead the way back to the car. He opened the motel room door and allowed her to leave first, before shutting the door behind the both of them. At the sight of the pink car again a sour look showed on his face. He knew he was being a poor sport but he hoped it wasn’t showing. Pink was not a favorite color of his and had never been.
She slid into the driver’s seat again and him into the passenger, though it still felt odd. The engine roared to life and they were on their way once again, heading towards the slayer’s house. She of course didn’t know how to get there, so he led the way. ”You have to take a left, all the way to Main Street. Then you take that a couple of miles and make a right onto Otis, and then you take that and make one more right onto the street. It’s the third or fourth street on the right hand side.” Hopefully his directions would make sense to her and she wouldn’t forget them. Even if she did forget, he’d gladly tell her again.
After around fifteen minutes give or take they had made it into the house. Katheryn guided the car into a parking spot in the driveway quite professionally and they then got out of the car. Angel got her bags for her as he led her up the driveway to the home. They knocked on the front door, wondering who was going to answer. The potential that had picked up car was there, but Buffy’s car was also there. He immediately knew that she hadn’t listened to him and had gone back for the vampire. It was the only explanation as her car had been at the cemetery. They could have gone back for the car later, but he doubted it given the amount of time they’d had. He was angry but he didn’t let it show, he’d bring it up with her later. --------------------------------------------Tag: Katheryn, Buffy Word count: 912 Notes: ----- Credit: To Admin Britt for all of the amazing graphics!

atheryn 'Kathy' Anne O'Connor shook her head. “I’ve only been in town for about a week. Give or take a day or so.” She answered him, before going on to explain. “I actually came here because of rumors that there was a lot of supernatural stuff going on. Not that I want to be involved in it because it gives me hives…okay, so not really but it does freak me out. However I was also told by my sources that people were here who knew you so I figured I would try and find them to find you.” She told him, hoping it sounded better than it did in her head. She followed her brother back towards the car and giggled a bit when she saw the sour look on his face when he caught sight of her black and pink car. She’d have to remember to ask him what exactly type of car he was driving if her car offended him so. It was true though, he had always hated pink. Even when they were both human and her favorite color even back then had been pink…he had hated it with a passion and had always made fun of her because she liked such a girly color. It didn’t matter that she would constantly remind him that she was a girl…didn’t seem to matter in the slightest. Kathy got into the driver’s seat and followed her brother’s directions, hoping he knew where he was going. “Before you ask, I am sure you want to know why the supernatural stuff gives me metaphorical hives.” She continued, hoping she wasn’t boring him. “Because I was changed so young…I’m not as strong as most vampires. When I was first turned, I was barely any stronger than I was as a human. It took me 200 years to gather the bit of strength I have now…but even then, I’m not much stronger than a brand new vampire. I’m weak, very weak, for vampires standards…so I try to stay out of the way. There aren’t few vampires out there that I could beat in a fight and I wouldn’t even try…I’d just run away or climb a tree. They scare me.” She told him, her young face showing her immense fear. Once at the house she pulled into the driveway, not letting the shock register on her face at how big this house was. They knocked on the door and when a strange girl answered she pushed herself into Angel’s side, following him in and keeping close to him. Upon entering the living room she saw the blonde girl that she had met in the cemetery earlier laying on the couch, looking not very good and sound asleep. “Uh…I think maybe she needs a doctor? I can smell the blood.” She told him, hoping that he would be okay around an open wound. She could deal because she had just fed…but she wasn’t sure how her brother dealt with it. “Should we wake her up?” Word Count- 532 Tag- Buffy & Angel Outfit- Click here to view Kathy’s outfit. --------------------------------------------Well he was glad that she hadn't been here alone very long. If she'd been here for weeks waiting for him he would have felt terribly about it, thankfully she hadn't. If there was a way to go back in time and find out about her sooner, he would have already done it. The thought of his baby sister, not even a teenager yet physically roaming the streets alone scared him quite a bit. It took a lot to scare Angel and really, nothing ever had. The thought of losing her a second time would now hang above his shoulders and he knew he would protect her with everything he had, die for her even. It was all good and well to act chivalrous but Angel knew he could actually act on it if the situation arose. Honestly, he hoped it never came to that as he didn't want her to ever be alone again.
He nodded as she stated that she hadn't been in town long, acknowledging that he'd heard her. Angel wasn't a big talker so when she started up again, he listened quietly. The hives? he thought curiously. She was one of those supernatural things so for the life of him, he couldn't understand why she'd be so freaked out. She'd been a vampire just a couple days less than him so he found it kind of odd. "That's good, that you haven't been here long, that is. Not the hives" he told her with a small chuckle. It felt nice to finally laugh and just enjoy being around someone for a chance. Of course he loved being around Buffy as well but sometimes, he didn't feel as if she felt the same way.
He perked up as she went on to explain why the supernatural freaked her out so much. Obviously it had sparked his curiousity but he hadn't wanted to push her and ask about it. Some things he knew would only be told with time and with that, he didn't want to come on too strong. They were blood but still, blood didn't mean much when siblings hadn't seen each other in over two hundred years.
Immediately he understood why her fear had originated for the supernatural. It only made sense that she wouldn't be as strong, given her size. Plus she was honestly still only eleven physically. Angel had been older when he'd been turned and quite strong for a human. Nowadays he'd never really met anyone that could best him in a fight, other than Buffy. That was bound to happen though as the two had learned each other's movements. After training together for so long, they had learned how to anticipate each other's moves and they each other's abilities.
The fear on her face made him sick to his stomach. His soul was always there in the back of his mind but sometimes, it wasn't as prominent as others. Right now though it was screaming out at him, begging to somehow take away her pain and her fear. His deep brown eyes looked over to her painfully, striking deeply into her own. "I'm sorry that you had to live in fear. To learn how to be on your own, you never should have. I wish I had been able to be there" he told her softly. The look on his face hadn't been this serious since earlier when he'd killed those vampires. Even then, it had been a much different look. That had been one of anger and pure rage while this one was one of love, of pain.
After they had arrived, one of the potentials living in the home let them inside. Of course they offered Katheryn an invitation as Buffy must have briefed them on their new house guest. Once inside, he noticed that Katheryn stuck close to him. He took her hand as they walked inside and gave it a light squeeze to help to reassure her. As they entered the house they went directly into the living room to find Buffy asleep on the couch. Katheryn was right, he could smell the blood as well. Now he knew that she hadn't listened to him but honestly, he wasn't all that surprised.
Angel blinked before looking to Katheryn, "I think we should, just in case it's a concussion.." He knew that she wouldn't want to leave him but they needed to see if someone could come check her out, preferably Willow. "Do you see those girls in the kitchen? Will you ask them if Willow is here for me, please?" he asked her softly. If she didn't want to leave him, that was perfectly fine with him and he would ask the girls himself. "You'll be okay Kathy, no one here will hurt you" he added, giving her small hand another squeeze. Gently he released her hand and turned back to Buffy.
He kneeled down next to her at the couch, he could smell the blood but it didn't bother him. Being who he was, he was almost constantly around blood and he had learned to deal with it. Her bangs were over her eyes and he reached out to brush them behind her ears gently. It would have been weird to admit aloud, this he knew, but she really was beautiful when she was asleep. So peaceful and just at ease in general and he loved seeing her like that.
As he pulled his hand back from pushing her hair away his fingers grazed the nape of her neck softly, just barely touching her at all. He whispered out her name softly, seeing if she would awaken at the sound of his voice. She didn't seem to hear him or maybe just didn't want to wake up. So, he did something that was sure to wake her up. He leaned forward and brushed her lips with his softly, before whispering her name again to see if she would respond this time. With everything in his being he hoped that she'd wake up and be alright. If anything happened to her, he didn't know what he would do. He'd already had to deal with a world without her once and wasn't willing to do it again, together or not. --------------------------------------------Tag: Katheryn, Buffy Word count: 1,055 Notes: Sorry for it being so long, sometimes I just get caught up in the moment lolll. atheryn 'Kathy' Anne O'Connor took it all in. She was not at all surprised that her brother handled the scent of blood around them as well as he did. She had a feeling that he had been around not only a lot of blood, but around a lot of the blonde girl’s blood, as the sight of her bloodied and bruised didn’t seem to faze him much. Sure she could see the worry on his face, but it wasn’t shock…it was almost an acceptance that this was her life and he would help her in whatever way he could. Kathy heard her older brother’s deep voice ask her if she would go ask the girls in the other room to ask if a girl named Willow was around. For a moment she thought about saying no and staying glued to her older brother’s side…but she looked into his deep brown eyes and knew her choice. He was worried, he was scared, and he needed her to be strong in order to try and help the girl…woman…that she knew he loved. He hadn’t said that she was his girlfriend or wife or whatever, but she knew that either way, he loved her and in that, Kathy knew she would do whatever she could to help her as well. “Sure, I’ll be right back.” She told him, trying to put on a brave face. She squeezed his hand tightly for a moment before releasing it and heading towards the kitchen to ask the young girls a question. However something made her stop and turn around, and when she did she couldn’t help but give a soft smile. The tenderness on her older brother’s face was something that was so sweet that it was almost heartbreaking. He was leaning down, whispering the blonde’s name softly. When she didn’t awaken, she saw him place a soft kiss upon the blonde’s lips before whispering her name again. She wanted to stay and see them interact if the blonde woke up, but she felt like she was intruding so instead she went to do her brother’s bidding. Walking into the kitchen she felt immediately like she was under the spotlight. All the girls were older than her and yet they looked at her as if they were afraid of her…which was something that was unusual. “Um…Angel…he wanted me to ask if a girl named Willow was around?” She asked, her voice ringing in it’s childish tone, showing how truly young she was the first time that night. She heard a strong voice from the middle of the room state that Willow was out but that they would get a first aid kit and bring it down for her. Kathy nodded her head once before scurrying out of the room, heading back towards the hallway, but staying out of the sight of the living room in case she interrupted something she wasn’t supposed to see. [/IMG] - - - - - - - - - - -Alright, so she was ninety five percent sure she was dreaming. She was in a long flowing white dress…not a wedding dress…just a random white flowing dress. She was walking through a strange meadow filled with purple, pink, green, blue, red and white flowers…and there was a deer over to the side simply standing there looking at her. She had been in a lot of places over the years but had never been to one quite like this. It was beautiful, there was no doubt…but still, everything seemed off, seemed strange, seemed foreign. She didn’t like the unknown, it scared her, and she wasn’t one to admit that she got scared very easily.
She looked around, feeling as if she was being watched. It was a familiar feeling, one that was not exactly unpleasant because the tingling in her heart and soul made her aware of who exactly was watching her from the shadows. She and Willow used to joke that she was the only girl out there who actually liked having a stalker. She knew he used to watch her off in the distance while she patrolled, waiting patiently in case she needed assistance but not wanting to jump in and get her mad at him for saving the not so damsel in distress. She knew, and she was pretty sure that he was aware that she knew, but they never talked about it.
She could feel his eyes on her, feel them wracking over her form, and for a moment she stopped, trying to figure out where they were coming from. She was usually great at pin pointing where he, or an enemy for that matter, was, but for the life of her she couldn’t seem to find the source of her feeling. She whipped around, the breeze making the flowers and grass flutter in it and yet while she used to think that it was beautiful, she now simply found it distracting.
She knew that she needed to find him, because he was there to show her something. This wasn’t the first time that he had taken the part as guide in her dreams…it had happened many times before and she had a feeling that this time was no different. Whether this was a slayer dream, the prophetic ones that she sometimes had, or a shared dream, which wouldn’t have been the first time, or a simple dream filled with hopes and fears, she had no idea. However she knew that in order to uncover her questions she needed to find him.
As if she had called his name he appeared, off to her left side walking through the meadow. She marveled at the way the sun beamed off his hair, making it look lighter than it did in the sun. He never knew it, and she wasn’t sure she would ever tell him, but when she had been brought back from heaven it had been with every one of her memories intact, including those beautiful memories from a day that really had never happened, at least not to the outside world. When she had first been brought back that day kept her sane…kept her whole. Then as time went on she began to get angry because once again he had made the decision to give their happiness without speaking with her about it. However, after she really thought about it, she realized how much he truly loved her. To give up every ounce of happiness that he could have had just so she wouldn’t die. That of course made her angry again, but not at him. She was angry with the Oracles as she had died anyway…so what good had it really done?
It did no good to dwell on it so she tried not to think about it, but she would admit to dreaming of that day on more than one occasion. The feel of his heart beneath her fingers, the feel of his skin on hers, the feel of his arms wrapped around her, and the feeling in her chest as he walked through the sun onto the pier that day to wrap his arms around her and pull his lips to hers. She remembered it all, and sometimes the memories of it were the only thing that pulled her out of her depression…just knowing that there was someone out there who may not be with her in body, but he was there in heart and soul, made things not look as bleak as they once had.
Her eyes met his and he gave her that same crooked smile that he used to give her that made her knees weak. He beckoned her to him and she followed his call, walking to where he was, standing in a pool of sunlight with him, which was something that she had always wanted to do. “I love you.” She whispered to him, something that she still hadn’t told him in her real life, but could safely tell him here. He simply smiled at her, kissing the crown of her head. “I love you too. And I wish you could stay here…but it’s time to wake up.” She shook her head, burying herself into his broad chest. “I want to stay here…with you. It’s warm here…and safe.” She told him, praying that he would allow her the simple pleasure of being held by him once again. “My love, I’ll be out there when you wake up. He’s worried about you. He needs to see that you’re alright. You’re scaring him a bit.” She sighed, looking into his deep eyes. She could see the worry behind them and she nodded. “Will I be able to come back?” She asked him, and he smiled another lopsided smile. “I’ll be here whenever you need me.” He told her and pressed his lips to hers. “Forever…isn’t that the whole point?” She asked, and instead of answering, he let his lips meet hers one final time.
Consciousness returned slowly, and for a moment she was confused. She heard a soft voice whispering to her, but it was so like the dream voice that she thought for a moment that she was still unconscious. She felt large hands pushing her hair out of her face, and she thought for a moment about thanking them because it was annoying to have hair in her face, but couldn’t….because something happened that she had really only been allowed to feel in her dreams. Lips pressing against hers brought her a bit more fully into the realm of the living and once she felt those soft lips on hers, she also felt the aches and pains as well. She let out a small groan when she felt the lips pull away and she opened her eyes blearily. “Angel?” She asked, her eyes still a bit hazy after literally passing out on the not so comfortable couch. She groaned again, her back popping. “Ow.” She simply stated before struggling to sit up.
“Okay, so maybe going after that vamp wasn’t the brightest idea I ever had.” She stated before realizing what she was saying. “Can you just forget I said that? I’m definitely not in the mood for a lecture tonight.” She told him, still barely able to see him through her hazy eyes, but she knew he was there…just as she always did. She could feel him close to her…and while some would say it was because she was the slayer and he was a vampire…she knew that it wasn’t the reason.
It was because he was the other half of her soul…it was simply a fact that they were soul-mates…together or not.

--------------------------------------------Surprisingly enough Kathy hadn't seemed too hesitant to go talk to the potentials in the kitchen. She hadn't exactly jumped to do it but she hadn't said no either. When she walked away he listened as she asked the girls so he could hear their response. Honestly he would have preferred Willow but anyone would do. If they brought him a first aid kit he figured he would just do it himself. He'd done it before for her and several others so it wasn't as if he was inexperienced. Besides that, there wasn't much blood at all. A bit on her head and other than that, a possible concussion. The blood he knew had probably already stopped flowing it was the concussion that scared him the most.
It made him nervous to be living in the same house with Buffy. Not because he thought something might happen, just that he knew it could. By 'something' of course he meant something physically. The emotional stuff wasn't fun but at least he'd keep his soul. The physical stuff though scared him and he didn't want anything to happen. Sometimes at night he had wanted to go upstairs and see her, even if just to hold her but he knew he couldn't. It wasn't good for either of them and they both knew it, which didn't weigh well on his heart.
Sometimes he felt like he wanted her so badly that he just wanted to give in to Angelus, to just let go. It was irresponsible and he knew things could go wrong, but he knew Willow had restored his soul before. So why couldn't she do it again? Why couldn't she just make it permanent so they could be together? So badly he wanted this to happen and in fact, Willow had even told him that she'd been working on a way for it to happen. If there was anything he could have done to make the process quicker he would be doing it already. He wasn't really sure if Buffy knew this or not but he assumed she did, as Willow and Buffy were best friends after all.
The slayer seemed to be so far away from him right now, even though she was literally right next to him. She was some where off in another world, in a dream perhaps. Or she had a concussion and was simply unresponsive. It angered him to know that everyone had just let her go to sleep even though she possibly had a concussion. Wasn't it common sense that you don't let people fall asleep when there was that possibility? There was a chance of the concussion causing serious damage, even though he doubted it with her healing abilities.
Hearing her speak his name he felt a wave of relief wash over him. For a second there he'd been getting pretty worried when she hadn't responded. "Hey..it's me" he told her with a small smile. It was barely visible as only the very corners of his mouth turned a bit. He shuddered hearing the sound of her back popping. It was so weird, being able to hear the bones moving around. Of course he'd gotten used to it but that didn't mean that it was normal. "Are you okay?" he asked as she went to sit up. Immediately he reached out to put a hand on her shoulder and offer his help, it was simply in his nature.
As her next words sunk in, he honestly couldn't believe that she had asked him to pretend he hadn't heard it. They both knew that he would throw a small hissy fit over it. Of course Angel's hissy fits consisted of a snarky comment or two but still, they both knew he would do it. It was kind of like when Angel learned that Spike had a soul. He was upset and complained that he'd had one first and told her that now everyone just had to have one. But, she didn't look like she was feeling so good so he decided to let it slide this one time. He wouldn't say anything right now but eventually he suspected she'd hear about it.
Instead of responding to her plead he simply gave her a sideways look, one that she'd seen many times. Before either of them were able to say anything else one of the potentials interrupted their moment. She came down and blurted out that she had the first aid kit, quite loudly at that. Angel nodded and gave her thanks and watched as she cheerfully whisked away. He had never understood teenage girls and suspected he never would. That was just about the only good thing about him being unable to have children. Although even that seemed like a small price to pay for a such a joyous thing to be able to do. He tried not to think of it most of the time, it only made his heart sink further down.
Laying the first aid kit on the coffee table in front of them, he popped open the top and laid it back on the table. Turning back to her, his brown eyes made their way to hers quickly. "Do you want me to help you -- with your cuts?" he asked softly, hoping that she would accept his offer. She wasn't one to easily accept help when it was offered to her and he knew that side of her well. She was so damned stubborn but he knew that he was as well, so he couldn't really complain about that aspect of her. In the old days he would have simply just started cleaning her up. Now, he had to worry about crossing boundaries and wondering if helping her and touching her was going too far, even if it was just bandaging her up.
While he waited for her to answer his question he looked into the hallway for Kathy. He couldn't see her and he wondered where she was, growing worried. Of course none of the girls would hurt her or anything but it just worried him to be away from her. They'd been apart for so long that now that they were finally together again, he never wanted it to end. Finally he spotted her at the end of the hallway, just barely catching a glimpse of her as she walked by. When he caught sight of her he called out to her, hoping that she would come in and spend time with the both of them.
Honestly he just wanted the two of them to interact together more and get to know each other. He still had to get to know Kathy of course as well, but that would come with time. Why couldn't he get to know her while Buffy did at the same time? After all, they were the most important woman in his life right now and really had always been. Not only just the most important women, but the most important people in general. He had never felt like he did for both of them for anyone else, even though he felt two completely opposite ways. For instance it seemed like even though Katheryn was his sister, he felt like she was more of a daughter. And even though Buffy and himself weren't together anymore, she would always be his girl. If they could both just be his girls, forever, he would be the happiest man alive.
Well, kind of alive at least.
One not-so-alive person that he hoped wouldn't show up in Mystic Falls was Spike. They had never really gotten along except for short, sparing times. Plus, the whole thing with him and Buffy pissed Angel off. How she even thought that was a good idea he had no clue. He did know on the other hand that she'd been going through a lot at the time. Since he hadn't been able to be there for her, he was in a way glad that someone had. He also didn't want to see Darla for obvious reasons and was glad that she was gone. Now he hoped that maybe, just maybe, him and his girls could spend the rest of their lives together just being happy. Both of them meant everything to him and if there was a way for them to be together forever, he'd find it. He had to. He loved them both too much not to. --------------------------------------------Tag: Katheryn, Buffy Word count: 1,413 Notes: ---- Credit: To Admin Britt for all of the amazing graphics!

atheryn 'Kathy' Anne O'Connor smiled. She knew it was strange and most people in her case would be jealous. Here she had spent pretty much her entire existence looking for her older brother, and yet here he was so comfortable with someone that it was almost as if he could read her mind. He seemed to know exactly what she needed without being asked. She heard him whisper the girl’s name…and when that didn’t work she saw him place a small kiss on her lips, seemingly knowing that it would be the thing to awaken sleeping beauty. He turned out to be right…though he usually was…and she watched as the blonde girl woke up slowly, though seemed to be in a fair amount of pain. Kathy wasn’t sure why she was so fascinated with the relationship between her older brother and this girl…but she was almost mesmerized by it. She hadn’t seen a lot of love in her day. Her parents were betrothed to one another from an early age and her father wasn’t a very nice drunk. Most of the people back in her day were betrothed to one another. Her parents had started looking for suitors for her at just eleven years old…to which Liam almost had a coronary when he found out. They had tried to force him into betrothal several times but being a man he had more say in it than the woman did. Liam had promised to protect her from whatever came around but she knew he had very little say in what happened to her. It would all come down to who offered the most for her hand…it didn’t matter the type of person they were. It had been a constant fear of hers and she had secretly tried to find ways around it…but it ended up not mattering in the end. Kathy turned her eyes back to the two sitting on the sofa in the living room. She watched as the blonde annoyed Angel at the fact that she had gone to get the other vampire and she actually cringed, waiting for her brother to start yelling, which was something he would have done in the past. She was amazed however at the fact that he just gave her a very annoyed look, though by the looks of things that conversation was definitely not over. She giggled a bit into her hand, knowing that Buffy was officially in troublleeee with her older brother. She wasn’t sure why she found that so funny but she really did. She was shocked out of her giggles when a young girl bounded down the stairs, passing right past her on her way into the living room. She watched as the girl handed her brother a first aid kit by the looks of it and bounded out, heading back into the kitchen with the rest of the girls. Apparently Angel had realized that she was standing there because she heard his voice calling out her name. She followed his voice and headed towards the living room where him and the blonde were sitting. “Hi.” She simply said, her hair providing a curtain in front of her face to almost hide behind. She looked over at the blonde for a moment before smiling softly. “Do you need help?” She asked, hoping that the older girl liked her. [/IMG] - - - - - - - - - - -The blonde rolled her eyes stealthily at her ex boyfriend’s over protectiveness. She could see the look on his face when she asked him to forget that she hadn’t followed his requests and instead had gone back for the vampire. She knew that look, she had seen it several times when he was in Sunnydale…and even a few when he wasn’t. She knew him better than she knew herself and she knew what that look meant. She would hear about this later…probably when he was having a hissy fit about something else and one of them picked a fight with the other…he would throw it in her face. It was a miracle that they got along as well as they did…because they were both so ungodly stubborn. Both needed to have it their way. The only reason they worked is because usually their way was the same…but when it wasn’t…they tended to butt heads.
She wondered briefly what it would be like now. Before Angel had left Sunnydale, he was used to following her lead. Sure he took control a few times but for the most part he was there to help her and lend his assistance. He would defer to her orders if it came down to it, though he would always argue his point if he thought that it was the better one. However now things were different. Angel had led his own team for five years before coming back to her…well…coming back to being in the same city as she was. She knew they were a long way from being whatever the hell it was they were going to end up, and now wasn’t the time to dwell on it. She did wonder if they would get along as well as they once had with Angel used to being in charge and her being a control freak who needed to be in charge. It would be an interesting twist of events…and one she wasn’t sure that she was looking forward too.
Her thoughts were broken up by his velvet voice and when she heard his question she realized that he now had a first aid kit in his hand. She assumed one of the potential slayers who were currently waiting for their plane to Rome had brought it down for him and she smiled up at him thankfully. “I can handle most of them.” She told him, her cheeks staining themselves with a small bit of pink, letting anyone around her know that she was embarrassed at needing help. “However there is one or two on my back that I may not be able to reach. If Willow is around I can help her…I don’t want to make you uncomfortable.” She stated, remembering clearly the last time she had asked him for help with a cut on her back. It may not have even been the last time, but it was definitely the most memorable. That night had been the best night of her life, it was just the day after that brought her into her own personal hell.
She smiled when she saw the young brunette who looked so much like Angel walk into the room, and it took her a few seconds to realize that it was because Angel called to her. She couldn’t believe how much Kathy looked like her brother…almost as if she was his daughter and not his sister. It was something she couldn’t shake and for a moment she wondered what their child would look like if they had ever been able to have one. She quickly banished those thoughts from her mind, though it didn’t take her long to come up with an image almost identical to Kathy. It did no good to dwell on things that wouldn’t happen…that she had learned a long time ago.
She smiled at the young girl who shyly asked if she needed help and for a moment she thought about refusing her, knowing she was just offering to be polite. However she thought about it and realized that it was Kathy’s way of trying to get to know her and though it was an odd situation, she would definitely take it. She wanted to get to know her former lover’s sister and hoped that one day they would be friends. “Sure.” She asked, before taking off the black hoodie she still wore, throwing it on the floor and making a mental note to herself to trash it since it was all torn up. She showed Kathy the cut on her right arm that was starting to heal but needed to be cleaned. “If you don’t mind.” She stated with a warm smile.

--------------------------------------------Sometimes Angel wished that he had never come back from hell. It was a cowardly thing to think but he couldn't help it. The hardest thing in this world is to live in it, Buffy had told this to Dawn. He agreed wholeheartedly with the quote and often thought about how truly difficult it was. Honestly, it was just hard to live life like this. For the life of him he couldn't figure out why normal humans complained. Sure they had it rough as well but at least they didn't carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. Buffy and himself were champions and because of it, he felt that their lives were tougher than others. All of their friends and allies were as well and had been since the day they decided they would fight along side of the two of them. He had to admit though, it was rewarding.
Being able to save people and being a hero was something that never really got old. Seeing the look on people's faces when you saved them, hearing their gratitude. He had never been one to take thanks or accept much praise but deep down, he did enjoy the gratitude he received from people. Since he was given a soul, it finally felt like he was given some purpose in the world. All throughout his life as a human he wondered, what was his place in the bigger scheme of things? And every time he thought this, he admitted to himself that he didn't have one. Now he could at least say that he did help the world, he helped to keep balance between good and evil.
The sacrifices they all had to go through had been more than normal humans would ever see in their entire lives. So many deaths and losses, so much hurt and pain. Everyday he was forced to live with the fact that he couldn't be with the love of his life. Before Katheryn had come back into the picture, he'd had to live without his sister as well. Even though she was much younger than him, their relationship had been exceptionally strong. She had always understood him and accepted him, no matter what he did. Now that she was back, he was glad that he had her around again. She was the only family he had and the only family that he'd ever really missed.
Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Buffy rolling her own. For right now he just ignored it and smirked a little bit. He didn't want to start a fight between them, especially when she wasn't feeling well. Plus he had to admit, he thought it was actually quite endearing when she did that. He'd seen it many times and he thought it was more endearing each time she did it.
Her cheeks flushed when she told him that there were cuts on her back she couldn't reach, and told him that it might make him uncomfortable. Immediately, he shook his head. "Buffy...I think I can manage" he told her sternly, slightly offended that she thought he couldn't handle touching her at all. He had just kissed her, why couldn't he help her to clean the wounds on her back? If anything, she should have been more worried about the kiss than something else.
Both of them greeted Katheryn's entrance with a smile, though Angel's was much smaller. He didn't smile much so anything was an improvement really. When she came in, she greeted Buffy with a small "hi". He couldn't help but full out smile at this, it was just so adorable. It seemed that his sister was beginning to warm up to the slayer. This surprised him, as they'd only known each other since the beginning of the night. Not only that, but Katheryn had originally been afraid of her. The fact that she seemed to be getting more comfortable around her made him happy. Whether they ever got back together or not, he knew Buffy would be in his life for as long as she lived. They both would be, so it was important to him that they got along well with each other.
Angel stood up and walked into the kitchen, grabbing a dish cloth out of a cabinet. He had to look around for a few minutes before finding the correct cabinet but eventually he found it. Finding a large bowl as well, he filled it with warm water and brought it back out into the living room. The potentials in the kitchen had helped direct him to the cabinet of the bowl, which he thanked them for quickly. Even though they had spoken to him just fine, they seemed shy around him.
Entering into the living room, he kneeled back into the spot he'd originally been sitting in. He set the bowl of water down on the coffee table next, letting the dish cloth soak for a moment. As Katheryn got to work on a cut on the slayer's arm, Angel began working at the smaller ones along her arms and neck. There was one right on her temple, probably from when she'd fallen earlier. He dunked the cloth into some warm water and then rung it out a bit. After this, he placed one of his hands on the side of her head opposite to the side with the cut. He just held it there softly, steadying her as this was probably going to hurt her. Giving her a reassuring look, he began dabbing at the cut with the cloth until finally he'd gotten rid of the dried blood. After this, he applied some antibiotic ointment to it that had been in the first aid kit.
Now that most of her body was cleaned up and Katheryn seemed to be finishing up as well, all that was left was her back. He almost wondered if it would make Katheryn uncomfortable to be in the room, though it was indeed harmless. He looked to her as if it was her decision before turning back to the slayer. "Let me see your back" he told her softly, his voice seeming a bit shy at the words. She shifted so that she was facing the same way as him before lifting up her white, long sleeve shirt. Underneath she wore a tank top so it wasn't as if it was her bare back or anything, he hoped Katheryn wasn't going to feel odd being there. He promised to do it as quickly as possible both to her and to himself.
His hands reached up and pulled the tank top to the side slightly, before beginning to dab at the cuts on her back. They were by far the worst and he knew the warm water probably stung a bit. He tried to dab as lightly as possible to not hurt her anymore than he had to. After it all looked cleaned up, he flipped the rag around so that he could dab the cuts dry as well. After this he applied ointment to her back and placed a few bandages where needed. Setting the ointment back onto the table, he then moved to slide the strap that had been falling down back onto her shoulder. As he did, he brushed her shoulders as he pulled the strap back up. He knew that his fingers had lingered longer than needed but it had just felt natural, he hadn't forced it or meant it to be like that at all.
After he did this, he pulled the back of her white long sleeve shirt back down to how it had previously been. Next he moved back a bit and stood up, looking to her as she turned back around. "Everything looks good. Maybe you should get some sleep" he told her endearingly, though he knew that she would probably disagree with him. Hopefully she'd take her health into consideration and not just disagree with him for the hell of it. He then turned to Katheryn as well, "maybe we all should" he added thoughtfully. After all it had been a really long day, none of them could deny that much. So much had gone on that he was even feeling a bit tired himself and he rarely got any good sleep these days. --------------------------------------------Tag: Katheryn, Buffy Word count: 1,400 Notes: Permission from Britt to godmod for Buffy! atheryn 'Kathy' Anne O'Connor was happy. She was always the type to want to be useful. Even as a human she would follow her mother or Liam around and constantly ask them if they needed her to do anything just so she could feel like she was doing something productive. She wasn’t one to sit around and just hang out. If she wanted something to do she would go find it or she would ask if anyone needed her help. She liked to help people, whether it was helping them with something big, or something little like cleaning up a mess. As long as she was being helpful she was happy. So when Kathy heard that the blonde girl (she should probably start calling her by her name but that felt too familiar and they weren’t familiar with each other yet) said she could help, she immediately dove in with renewed sense of self worth. She grabbed an alcohol pad from the first aid kit that was sitting in her brother’s lap and opened it, cringing her nose at the smell of it. A lot of people (humans) couldn’t smell things like alcohol but as a vampire she definitely could and it hurt her nose. She quickly but gently wiped the cut from the blonde’s arm before putting a band-aid over it. She was surprised at the fact that the cut itself was already healing but she guessed that had to do with the strength that Kathy could feel coming from the older girl. It was strange because she looked young in her body and face, but her eyes told of an ancient sadness that she had only seen on those who were decades older. She saw that same sadness in her brother’s eyes and she wondered what could have possibly happened to this girl in order for her to feel this much pain. She quickly took the old bloody alcohol wipe and the band-aid wrapper and walked quickly into the kitchen, coming back just as quickly to make sure that she kept her brother in her sight. She knew that the blonde had said she would get her own room but she knew that as soon as Liam…Angel…was asleep that she’d sneak in and sleep on his floor just so she wouldn’t have to be alone. It was something that she had done a lot as a human and she had a feeling that habit would start up again now that she had someone who she felt safe with. Kathy watched intently as her brother doctored the blonde’s back and couldn’t believe how gentle he was being. She could see how much he loved this tiny girl with just the look on his face. He had really only ever looked at her that way because of how much he loved her and a small part of her was jealous that someone else occupied his heart…but Kathy was old enough to know the difference and knew that she could share her brother with this girl…she had to…because she wouldn’t let him go again. She heard her brother comment on it being time for bed but stayed silent…not wanting to give her opinion. She’d do whatever she was told at this rate just so she could stay near her older brother. She didn’t want to be a bother. She knew at one time she would have to talk to him about the future but right here, right now she’d rather just live in the moment and spend as much time with him as possible before serious discussions got in the way. [/IMG] - - - - - - - - - - -Buffy laughed a bit when Angel stated that he could manage working on her cuts. She wasn’t worried about him near her blood. For one thing, he had been around her blood more times than she could count so that wasn’t even a concern. Also, he had been around other’s blood just as long so again, she wasn’t even worried about that. She just didn’t want him to feel uncomfortable around her with barely anything on. They hadn’t even see each other in almost a year and here with her ex lover and his kid sister letting them look at her wounds. Wow, could her life get any weirder?
Yes, it could. Because now said lover and his said kid sister were working on bandaging her cuts. She was a slayer for gods sakes and yet she had two vampires working on making sure she was alright. Jesus she needed help….maybe counseling. That was something she made a mental note to talk to Giles’ about. Come on, there was no way she could do this for ten years and not need a bit of psychology in her life. She wondered if Giles would agree to employ a counselor for people to see. One who obviously in the know about vampires and such but one who the potentials, the slayers and the watchers could talk to about things.
She had a feeling Giles would probably laugh at her thoughts (granted, if she had been anyone but herself she would probably laugh too) but still, it couldn’t hurt to ask. Though, this could all be her being delusional from lack of sleep, lack of food, and the fact that her body ached. However either way, it was a good idea…and if she still thought it was a good idea tomorrow then she’d call and talk to him about it.
The blonde slayer winced when she felt the peroxide against her skin. She immediately was drawn into her happy place, which ironically was with Angel, just not with peroxide in his hand. It was actually with Angel back in his old apartment…before things went to hell and a hand basket. She could still remember how comfortable they were with each other before they had made love…which was ironic since most people didn’t gain their level of comfort until they had been intimate. However their relationship was always different. It didn’t take them long to fall in love…and it didn’t take them long to trust each other inexplicably.
However things changed after they made love. They were still comfortable around each other, how could they not be? They had been through hell and back (Angel in the literal sense) and had come out still somehow together. Yet they were so careful around each other. They both knew what it was like to be connected in all ways to each other and they knew what it was like to have those feelings…but they couldn’t express them. They had to be careful around each other at all times because one wrong move…could cost them everything.
Angel had made the right choice, though even today it was painful for her to admit. She knew that unless Willow could have found a way to bind his soul there was no way that they would be able to keep themselves from surrendering to their desires. It had nothing to do with sex, though that was something that most relationships couldn’t live without…but it was about intimacy. The need to express one’s self to their loved one…and they couldn’t have that. She knew how much Angel wanted her to have a normal life and back then it was something that she craved, but now? She was older, wiser, and she knew better.
She would never have a normal life…it was something that as a slayer, you sacrificed. Most slayers didn’t have friends, didn’t have their families, they had the darkness, their watcher, and the knowledge that they wouldn’t make it until they were old and gray. Most died within six months to a year of being called. She was lucky, she had made it 10 years so far and she was determined to make it another ten. Whether that was practical or not, she really didn’t know, but she would try her damndest…and when she wanted something bad enough, she usually got it.
Buffy was broken out of her thoughts by Angel’s voice telling her to let him see her back. She stood up slowly, taking off her long sleeve shirt and leaving herself in just a tank top. She winced as the fabric brushed over her back and groaned when Angel put peroxide on the cuts. “Angel…careful.” She whined, knowing he would probably laugh at her but not caring. She may be a slayer, but she was still a slight baby when she wanted to be. Also she was hamming it up a bit since it was Angel. She would admit it…to anyone but him.
She sighed in relief when Angel was done. “Let me go get changed and then I’ll show you to your rooms.” She told him before standing up quickly, then grabbing onto the back of the couch when her head spun. “Ugh, stood up to fast.” She told him. “Okay, be right back.” She stated and then walked slowly up the stairs. Once in her room she quickly threw on a pair of little bitty shorts and a matching tank top. She then looked at herself and realized that Angel might have a fit if he saw her in this little clothing and threw on a pair of pants over the shorts and grabbed a jacket to match, though not putting it on. She wanted to let the peroxide work on her back a bit longer before putting something over it. Once changed she headed back downstairs.
“Alright, Kathy, I’m assuming you’ll want to be near your brother. There’s a room right next to his that actually shares a bathroom with it if you want that one. It actually adjoins with the bathroom so you can go in and out of his room without going into the main basement.” She told her before heading down the stairs towards the rooms. “There’s also another one that has it’s own bathroom but it’s down that way.” She told her, pointing down the small hallway leading to another bedroom. “None of them have windows so you’ll be safe down here no matter what. Also none of the other guests in this house really come down here. So you’ll really be safe here.” She told her with a smile before looking at Angel, trying to get him to help her out a bit.
