--------------------------------------------Even though it did surprise him a bit that Katheryn had helped Buffy with ease, it didn’t surprise him at the same time. It was in her nature to be caring and a compassionate person, it always had been. Since she’d been born she’d shown her true nature to be a loving person, a gentle soul. That was another reason that this didn’t surprise him, she did have her soul after all. How in the hell she had it he had no clue. Perhaps like he’d thought earlier, that she’d been so pure because of how old she was that the demon wasn’t able to take her over. That was definitely fine in his book, though if she hadn’t had one he would have asked Willow to give her one. It would have been a lot to ask but he knew Willow would have helped him if needed, especially if it meant saving the soul of a child. Thankfully they hadn’t had to go down that road and hoped he never would, whether with Katheryn or himself.
A small smile couldn’t help but run across his features as he noticed her face scrunch up at the smell of the alcohol. She must not have had to stitch herself or anyone else up often which was a good thing. Angel however had been around it so much that the smell didn’t really bother him anymore, though it was strong. He could have been wrong but he swore that Buffy felt a bit tense. As his fingers ran along her back he felt her muscles tightened, a certain hardness to him as if she was uncomfortable. It was understandable because after all, they hadn’t seen each other in a long time. Now he was bandaging her up like old times, with the help of his sister that he hadn’t seen in hundreds of years. It was really surreal when he thought about it and he hoped he wasn’t going to awake the next morning from a dream. It felt like he was in a movie or television show and he needed someone to pinch him to make sure it was all real. Deep down he knew it was, it just seemed too perfect to really be true.
When the slayer winced at the feeling of the peroxide on her back, he quickened his pace not wanting to hurt her any longer than he had to. In the long run, she’d feel a lot better after this was done. He would as well knowing that nothing was going to grow infected and that she would heal just fine. She always did but still, he just liked to be sure. He didn’t say anything when she winced but instead, he brushed his fingers over the area softly with the dry cloth before bandaging it up, attempting to soothe her as much as he could. The vampire knew that there was a fine line between the two of them and he didn’t want to cross any boundaries.
When she groaned he immediately felt bad, as If he could have been more gentle with her. ”This is going to sting a bit” he told her softly, before applying a bit more peroxide. The particular cut he was working with at the moment was a pretty deep gash. After he was done with the peroxide he applied some antibiotic to it and covered it up quickly, feeling her relax her muscles a bit as he finished up with that one. It didn’t take long before the both of them were done bandaging her up and she was on her way upstairs.
Before she’d even left the couch, she was faltering a bit out of dizziness. His instincts kicked in quickly and he placed his hands around her lower back steadying her. Once she’d regained her balance, he hurriedly removed his hands. An awkward look came onto his face as he moved his hands back down to his sides. ”Are you okay to walk by yourself?” he asked quietly. Before he knew it, she was up and heading up the stairs. He relaxed as he watched her climb them steadily and then began cleaning up the mess that they had made. It didn’t take long before Buffy was back downstairs, in a new outfit at that. Her eyes showed her obvious tiredness and though it worried him, it was actually quite endearing. Almost everything she did was cute to him in a way, as was the same for Katheryn, though both in very different ways. Now that he had both of them in his life, he would do anything to keep it that way. He wanted to tell both of them this very badly but he didn’t. For one, he assumed that both of them already knew this. Two, he’d never been all that great at expressing himself. He was actually quite quiet and had never been a man of many words. The vampire wasn’t quite as quiet as Oz had always been though, that was for sure. All of the times he’d met Oz, he’d never heard him say more than a few words at a time. Even though he rarely talked, Angle had taken a liking to him. Vaguely he wondered what Oz was up to these days but he doubted he’d see him anytime soon.
As the slayer began walking downstairs to show them their rooms, he followed with Katheryn close to his side. When she told them about the room with the adjoining bathroom, he nodded to her showing that he preferred that idea. ”I think that’s a good idea, the room with the adjoining bathroom” he told the both of them. After he said this, he looked to his little sister to try and gauge her response and if she agreed with him or not. ”That’s of course if it’s okay with you” he told Katheryn with a slight smile, though the smile barely showed at all. With Angel, it was hard to really see a true smile. It didn’t happen often and when it did, it was a rare occasion to be seen.
Hopefully his sister would want to be close to him, he knew it would make him feel a lot better having her only feet away. Even though he knew that she would be safe in the house he couldn’t help but feel overprotective of her. Since she’d been born he’d felt as if he was her guardian and had acted as such.

atheryn 'Kathy' Anne O'Connor was happy. She was standing next to her brother listening to the blonde girl discuss which room she wanted. Her brother nodded his head and said he’d prefer the one closest to him, to which she nodded her head emphatically, wanting him to know that she much preferred to be closer to him than further away. She had a feeling that she was going to once again become the annoying little sister who shadowed him everywhere he went…just like she was when they were human. Thankfully he had never really gotten mad at her because of that so she hoped he’d be okay with it now. “I’ll sleep in the room next to his.” She said in a quiet voice, her eyes down on the floor. “As long as that’s alright with the two of you…I don’t want to be an imposition.” She told the blonde this time, looking up to her hazel eyes. She could read the kindness in them and for a moment she thought she saw a hint of love directed to her brother from within them but she wasn’t sure if she was reading into something that wasn’t there or if she really did see it. Either way she could tell that this girl meant her and her brother no harm, and that made her feel much better. She excused herself quickly to run into the bedroom that she had claimed and quickly changed into the pajamas she had bought the day before and then quickly ran into the bathroom in order to scrub the makeup off her face. Her white fleece pants with black and red hello kittys all over them were warm and comfortable. Paired with a black tank top and she was ready to go to bed. She quickly brushed out her curls and put them into two low pig tails. She truly looked younger than her 11 years now, which was something since she could also make herself pass as 18. She walked out of the bathroom and flitted back to her brother's side, this time not hesitating as she buried into his side, her head resting against his chest. "Thank you for everything." She told the blonde girl before cuddling closer into her brother's side, hoping the girl knew how grateful she was for everything. [/IMG] - - - - - - - - - - -The blonde smiled at her former lover when he literally jumped at the chance in order to let his younger sister sleep in the room next to his. Most brother’s would be happy that their sister’s were alive after 200 years but Angel was ecstatic. She smiled when Kathy agreed with her older brother, saying that she wanted to sleep in the room next to his. She didn’t blame her one bit for that. Angel had a way of making those around him feel incredibly safe and secure, which was ironic since he was a vampire who had done unspeakable things for over a hundred years. However he was a good person, and had a very pure soul. He was one of the good guys, if not the good guy, so she knew that Kathy would be safe with him.
She watched as the younger brunette ran off to the room and did whatever it was she was doing. “You look happy.” She told her former boyfriend, smiling at him gently. “You deserve it. You deserve to have her here with you Angel.” She told him, her eyes boring into his. “Keep that little girl safe.” She ordered him playfully. She wasn’t sure why but she felt extremely maternal when it came to Kathy, but it was different in the way she felt about Dawn. She couldn’t explain it but the feeling was definitely there.
The brunette walked back and the blonde slayer almost awed at the sight of her. She was in Hello Kitty pajamas and pig tails. She had to be hands down the cutest little thing she had ever seen and for a moment she simply wanted to cuddle her to her, but she obviously couldn’t do that so she settled for smiling at the adorable picture her and Angel made. Angel in his leather duster and all black, and Kathy in her pajamas and pigtails. Angel would have made a great father…and…she stopped herself. No use thinking of that. She didn’t have the time for a break down right now…she wasn’t sure when she would but she would definitely revisit that thought at a later date.
She grinned when Kathy thanked her and shook her head. “You never have to thank me for anything Kathy.” She told her, walking over and standing in front of her and placing a soft hand on her shoulder. “You’re brother is one of the most important people in my life…which makes you really important to me as well. You’re safe here. Trust me…no one will hurt you. If they even as much as make you feel bad, you come tell me and I’ll take care of them.” She stated with a smile, hoping she could see how sincere she was.
A thought hit her like a ton of bricks and her eyes widened in panic. “Oh god.” She stated with a yelp and without saying a word she ran upstairs, yelling out for Willow. “WILLS!” She stated with a yell and sighed in relief when her red-headed best friend came running. She quickly whispered that she needed to make sure to keep an orb of Thesulah around as well as the ingredients for a certain curse. Her red-headed best friend quirked an eyebrow at her but she shook her head. “I’ll explain in the morning. I just want to make sure we’re prepared. Angel got some great news tonight and it’s got me a bit worried. Stop looking at me like that I’m not going downstairs to sleep with him! I just…want to be prepared.” She told her before waving and heading back downstairs back to the two bewildered individuals.
“Sorry about that…just…had a momentarily thought that I had to share with Willow before I forgot it.” She stated with a laugh. “Now, is there anything you two need before bed? We have blood in the fridge over there.” She told them, pointing to the refrigerator that stood off in the corner. “Willow went and got it earlier for you Angel so Kathy feel free to help yourself.” She told her before waiting to see if they needed anything else.

--------------------------------------------Katheryn’s response didn’t surprise him and she seemed just as anxious to be close to him as he’d been to be close to her. It relieved him to know that she felt the same way. In order to feel comfortable and know that she’d be safe, he needed her close to him at all times. His protectiveness was just as high as it had been when they’d both been alive, if not even higher. Now that he knew what she’d gone through all of these years he felt as if he needed to make up for it. After all, he had been the one who’d drained her in the first place. For this he hated Angelus, he hated the demon inside of him. The other side of him that so rarely made an appearance now, though was still caged inside of him. If there were a way to permanently remove Angelus from within him he would’ve done that a long time ago. Even though Angelus was caged inside and locked away there was always the threat of him being released some day. Because of this, he felt like no one was ever truly safe around him, no matter how much that bothered him.
His head cocked to the side when she stated that she didn’t want to be an imposition. Was his sister under the impression that the two of them were together? They weren’t currently together and hadn’t been for years. There was still love between them and there always would be, but they wouldn’t act on it and hadn’t in a very long while. ”Katheryn..it’s – it’s fine. You’re not an imposition, Buffy sleeps upstairs” he told her sternly. He didn’t want her to be under any false impressions about Buffy and himself. Not only this, but he didn’t even know how Buffy felt anymore. Of course he knew that Buffy still loved him, but that didn’t mean that they’d be together again. He looked to her immediately after the words left his lips, hoping that he hadn’t hurt her feelings. Right now he was just trying to make sure that everyone had their facts straight.
After he told her this, Katheryn excused herself and went into the bedroom next to his, presumably to get ready for bed. Angel watched her run off into the room and shut the door behind her. Turning back to Buffy, he looked into her eyes carefully trying to gauge what she was thinking and feeling. It was hard to tell because in a way, it seemed like she was holding something back. Maybe something she wanted to say but wouldn’t, or trying to hide her emotions. He knew that deep down they both still loved each other but neither of them knew what to do about it. Things weren’t really all that different than they had been in the past, concerning his soul anyways. If they were to resume a relationship it would most likely end badly once again, with them giving into their desires. This is why he was wondering if he’d made the right choice even coming here in the first place.
Desperately he wanted to reach out and take her into his arms. To tell her how much he still loved her and always had, how he had been in love with her since the moment he’d laid his eyes on her. None of that seemed to matter anymore however and would probably only hurt her more if she knew. Before he had the chance to say something to her, she had began speaking first, telling him how happy he looked. ”I am happy..it’s a lot to take in, but I’m glad she’s here. It’s just hard seeing her – remembering what I did.” His brown eyes drooped sadly as he expressed this, looking down to the floor below him. Every time he looked into his sister’s eyes, he remembered that night and what he’d done to her. Every time she looked at him, pure joy in her eyes, he felt guilt and remorse. It had been a long time and he knew he probably should get over it but he just couldn’t. It still felt fresh to him and he knew it’d take a lot of years for him to forgive himself. Thankfully, the two of them would have eternity to spend together.
He knew that Katheryn would return shortly and he needed to get something out before she came back. He needed to tell Buffy what he was thinking, about them and what their relationship was. Could they be friends now? Did she even want to be? It was pretty much a zero possibility of anything more, but if he could just be friends with her, was that enough? The words didn’t want to come into his mind and he knew right now wasn’t the time or place. ”Listen, Buffy, I think we should talk..later of course, if you want to” he told her slowly. Honestly he didn’t want to worry her, he just wanted to figure things out between them. If they could be friends, he might consider staying with her and her team long term. If not, he knew he’d need to move on sooner or later. With Katheryn of course, but that was a given.
Just as soon as he was finished with his words, he heard the door open up and turned to see Katheryn bound out of the bedroom in her pajamas. He had to admit, she was downright adorable with her pig tails and all. He wasn’t quite sure why she was wearing cat pajama’s but hey, they were still cute and very…little girl – like and not so vampire – like as Angel’s outfit was. When she cuddled up to him, he put his arm around her shoulder and gave her a small squeeze. Normally he wasn’t very affectionate but since she’d searched for him for years, and was his baby sister, he couldn’t help it. She then thanked Buffy for all of her help and when the slayer responded making the comment about Angel, his brown eyes bore deep into the slayers. Katheryn didn’t get the chance to say anything in return as Buffy took off, running up the stairs and yelling for Willow. What she needed so badly to talk to her about he had no clue, but it did spark his curiosity.
The slayer was back within a couple of minutes, and again he wondered what she’d had to tell Willow. He wouldn’t ask her of course, he had never been one to be nosey. Angel nodded that they would be alright, ”I think we’re okay. Kathy, if you’re hungry feel free. I’m okay for now” he added before nodding to Buffy. ”Goodnight..” he told her softly, before kneeling down to his little sister. ”I’m going to head to bed, we both should try to get a little sleep” he told her, his hand reaching up to cradle her delicate little face. ”If you need me I’m right next door, even if you just can’t sleep, okay?” he asked, though it was pretty much a rhetoric question. Next he leaned in and kissed her forehead, ”goodnight Katheryn” he said softly. With this, he stood back up and walked to his bedroom door, looking back to make sure she went to hers as well. --------------------------------------------Tag: Katheryn, Buffy Word count: 1,222 Notes: Woot!
