Jesse let out a breath as he drove over to the ruins of an old church. He wasn't too familiar with this part of Mystic Falls, but he had gotten the report of prowlers so here he was. And given the fact that it was late at night, he was really hoping that it wouldn't turn out to be vampires. Not that he couldn't hold his own, but he didn't want to have to face one on his own. That was just suicide. And Jesse didn't have a death wish. Nope. He rather liked living so he was hoping that it'd either be an animal or a teenager that he could write up. Well, at least you're getting some action, he thought to himself. Yes, he had wanted something to happen on patrol for a while and now it looked like he was getting what he had wished for. Too bad he hadn't been careful with that wish.

He shut off the car engine and then got out, grabbing a flashlight to light his path. Just then, he heard a small rustling noise.
"Mystic Falls Sheriff Department! Come out with your hands up!" he said, turning in the direction of the noise. Hopefully, he wasn't about to be ambushed by something. That was just what he needed: to be fighting for his life. However, in this town, he wouldn't be all that surprised if he did get jumped by a vampire. And wasn't that a kicker? He had moved to Mystic Falls because he had heard some stuff, but he hadn't expected it to be so heavily populated. Oh well. It wasn't like he could do anything about it. Now then, all he had to do was hope that he wasn't about to meet certain death...

Katherine came out from the trees her hands up by her shoulders. She dark brown eyes focused on the back of the man yelling. "Over here officer." she said coming to a stop not wanting to alarm him to much. Katherine took in this supposed officer he was new to her. Probably had not been in the sheriffs office when she was here last. The again she was not one to care or notice. Except for Caroline's mother of course. But that was a whole other story.

Katherine had been out her tonight for personal reasons other then hunting...for once. After all she lived in Richmond now away from Mystic Falls and Niklaus. She was here for a bit of recon work. Ever since her run in with a hybrid of Klaus she was curious to find out who else had risen up against him and if rumor was right Tyler used to use a place near here to hide out and change. She had a feeling it was his base now a days. She could be wrong but only time would tell.

"Is their a problem officer?" she asked tilting her head to the side curiously. she had not really done anything wrong she was not trespassing....yet. But he certainly seemed on edge. Katherine bit her lip wondering if she should have just bolted or killed the guy on sight. But she did not want Niklaus to get whiff she was here so this was the most logical option. For the time being of course. "I haven't done anything wrong." she said innocently batting her eyelashes. Not the most subtle route but when was she ever to subtle.

Jesse wasn't really sure what to expect but it hadn't been a lone girl, telling him her location and coming out with her hands up as he had instructed.
"Out kind of late, aren't you?" he asked as he shined the light in her direction, being careful not to hit her in the eyes. He just wanted to see who he was dealing with, not blind them. As the light reached her, he gave her a once-over, seeing that she was a brunette. "Anyone else with you?" he continued as he walked closer, but still kept a careful distance from her. He had no idea who he was dealing with and he wasn't going to take any chances. He knew that Mystic Falls was now teeming with vampires and people who hunted them, and for all he knew, she could be one or the other, which meant that this could go one of two ways: if she was a vampire, he could end up fighting for his life or even be killed and if she was someone who hunted vampires, he'd have to decide whether or not to stick by his job or give the girl a pass.

Then she was speaking again, asking him if there was a problem.
"I'm here because of reports of a prowler, which I'm assuming is you," he answered. "Are you alone or did you bring some friends here with you?" he asked. The last thing he needed to do was get blindsided by somebody coming up behind him, but it wasn't like he had eyes in the back of his head. Therefore, he had to be extra careful since he was the only one here. It briefly crossed his mind that he should probably call for backup, but he had no clue if it was needed yet and didn't want to call in anyone else if it wasn't necessary. No need to waste manpower after all. He watched as she batted her eyes and said that she hadn't done anything wrong. Maybe she had and maybe she hadn't. He didn't really know, but he did have a job to do. "Well, according to the Sheriff, these old ruins aren't safe," he said. Which, he supposed was why people were drawn to them: they were forbidden and everyone was drawn to things that weren't allowed.

He then took a closer look at the girl. She seemed familiar, which meant that he had probably seen her around town, but her name was escaping him. Oh, now that was going to bug him the rest of the night! Well, there was one way he could take care of his dilemma: ask her. Yeah, that sounded like a good idea.
"You look familiar to me. Haven't I seen you around town?" he queried. There. At least this way he wouldn't seem creepy for staring.
