- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -It had been a week since she had realized that Zan had been missing and she had spent every moment that she wasn't teaching searching for him. She had hacked the school's security feed and found out that the woman that had taken him was blonde but unfortunately her back had been to the camera and that was all she could see which really didn't help her much. She didn't look as if she was FBI but them again neither did Agent Pierce when he was pretending to be a deputy in Roswell so she knew that it didn't mean much. She also didn't look like an enemy alien but then again Max, Michael and Isabel didn't look like aliens either so once again it didn't mean much.
She had promised Maria that she would let her get ahold of Max if she hadn't found Zan by tomorrow but now that the deadline was upon her she didn't want it to come. She didn't want to have to tell Max that she had lost his beloved son! He had spent a year looking for this child and yet she had him right there and instead of doing the smart thing and just taking him with her she had to do the 'legal' thing and try to get him by legal means...at least as legal as forging document was anyway.
The brunette signed as she finished grading her last paper. She was supposed to call Maria tonight but she needed to digress for a bit before dealing with her failure. School had been over for a little over an hour and she really needed to get out of her classroom. Standing up she brushed off the pants that she was wearing to try and get rid of any invisible lint before pulling her laptop and her purse to her. Looking around to make sure that she didn't forget anything before locking the door and heading out to her car.
She should just head home but she didn't feel like dealing with the small apartment that she owned. She had planned on getting a larger place now that she could afford one but hadn't had time to look. The sounds of children playing caught her attention and she walked towards the park figuring she would get a half an hour of reading or so done before forcing herself to go home and make the dreaded phone call that she really did not want to make.

Screaming, screaming everywhere, and pure utter chaos. There were children running around screaming, some crying, but mostly shrieking. It was down right loud. People running around looking for their children, children looking for parents, water dripping from bodies, making the floor slippery. It was really just a typical day at the pool, only today there was a swim meet in one of the pools, which means the indoor pool room held a lot more people then normal. Children were screaming, giggling, yelling, laughing, even crying. But from first glance, it looked like an utter shit show. People everywhere, things going crazy. There was no order. Yet if you looked closely, you could see an order forming. The team sticking to the far pool, the members sticking to another, They hardly mixed.
And right there in the middle was Zan. A small tinny little boy, so under fed, but gaining weight thanks to his savor Bek. His little swim suit a size to large, but tied tightly around his belly with a string. His hair was dripping wet as he looked between the legs of adults crowding around a pool. He was curious. He had never seen a swim meet before, and the lines in the pool and the make shift gun shot thing fascinating. So he looked on with with curiosity, as Bek got lost in the crowd. He had not seen her in a bit, but it was not to worry.
Zan tended to just wonder off, to poof, do his own thing, get lost. But he always always found his way back, always made sure he was where he needed to be when he was needed. He'd hardly be missed. If Bek wanted to do some laps, that was cool, if she was sitting around readings book, that was cool also. Zan had his own plan, and did his own thing. He'd been with Bek for a good week now, and in that week quite a few things had happened. Bek loosened up a bit, and started to get used to Zan's curious nature. Bek knew Zan might disappear, but a simple call and he'd be back.
But in this crowded room, might make things a little difficult. Zan had just gotten out of the pool for a moment to check out all the action on this side of the pool. He was stuck on the other side, which was the lame side. Not too many children were out and about today. So all the kids where over at the other pool, and Zan had to check it out. It was... interesting. But his attention turned back to the almost empty pool he was playing in. He had already been told he can't play in the other pool.
His name was called, and Zan looked to see a few of the children he had been playing with. Normally he was super shy, but these kids, wanted to play with him, and with Bek not far, he felt safe enough to play. They called him, wanting him to jump back in the pool to play. Zan smiled standing at the edge of the pool. The door was pushed open sending in a very cool breeze. Zan bent his little knees a big old smile on his face, and he shivered slightly, moving his arms quickly by his side, a sign of being cold. The kids called and yelled, egging him to jump on in. Zan could swim alright, so jumping in the pool would be no problem, anyway he had little things on his arms that helped him to float. So he knew he'd be safe enough. So with a sequel he jumped on in, making a little splash. Still... the swim meet was..... interesting, so very interesting for some reason.
Still the swim meet called to him, and once again he left the group of kids playing and went over to the big group of cheering adults, looking down at their kids swimming away. Why did he want to be over here? There was a door leading to the outside, and the pool. That's it. Not even the lost and found was around here, and he learned from all the other kids, that the lost and found was where it was at!!! Still he wanted to be closer to that door, closer and closer and closer he moved. Again his name was called from the kids, waiting for him to come back and play. But Zan could not really hear, he was too mesmerized by a girl standing by the door. He could only see her legs nothing more, but he felt a pull towards her. The kids yelled again, this time he herd, and fell back towards the empty pool. Again jumping back in. But still his mind was back looking at that door.

Taking Zan out to parks, stores and anything else, Rebekah learned a few things. One, he always ran off at some point. He was a curious little thing and needed to know stuff. This freaked her out the first few times, mainly cause she thought something happened to him or he may be hurt somewhere. The 2nd thing she learned was, either he always found his way back to her, or she always found him. The last thing she learned was that if anyone messed with Zan they were as good as dead. She would do anything to protect him from everything.
So stopping by the pool she let Zan do whatever he wanted at the pool, though she did watch him intently for the first 20 minutes or so as he played with the other kids. She wanted to make sure the other kids were not gonna pick on him or tease him or hurt him or scare him. When she come to the conclusion that they were gonna do no such thing to Zan she leaned back in her chair and drank from her drink, a margarita, and just closed her eyes. She wanted to go to sleep, get some rest, there were lifeguards, other people, Zan was as safe as can be right now.
She was wearing a yellow bathing suit that showed off her best features but wasn't to skimpy. She couldn't wear a bikini as that would be to little if she was gonna spend all day with Zan. She wished she had someone to show off the bathing suit too, but Noah was gone and she wondered if he would ever come back, and she sure as hell didn't want any of the people who openly googled at her goods. She scoffed at them and closed her eyes. She must of dozed off for a few minutes because by the time she awoke Zan was gone.
Rebekah got that familiar worried feeling in the pit of her stomach, but for some reason it subsided really quickly. She knew that Zan didn't get very far and he was alright. She got up and wrapped the towel around her waist, not that she was wet from swiming, she just didn't want people to stare to much, she really wasn't look to get a guy right now, not even a one night stand. She walked around the pool and saw the other kids playing. She then looked in the other pool where kids were in some kind of meet. She didn't care as Zan was in neither pool.
She saw a flash of light and had to shield her eyes as the door was opened, and figured Zan exited out that door. But why, there was nothing out there. She quickly followed, almost able to get out the door before it closed and she looked around for him. "ZAN?!" She called out, he always came back when she called him. But this time he didn't. She got worried now, what if somebody took him. And she began to run around the building looking for him. She had to find him as she didn't want to loose him. He was the only good thing left in her life.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She sat and watched the children play for a few moments before moving along, heading towards the community center which was on the same grounds as the playground. She didn’t know why she headed towards the pool area however something told her she needed to be there. If there was one thing she had learned through her time in Roswell after learning that aliens walked the earth it was that she needed to trust her instincts. They had never failed her and she doubted that they would do so in the future. At least that was what she hoped since they hadn’t in the past.
Chlorine hit her senses as soon as she moved towards the pool area and her nose wrinkled at how strong it was. She didn’t know what it was about indoor pools but it always seemed like they had more chlorine than in an outdoor pool. Now most would say that it smelled like it because they were in an enclosed space and that may be true…however she had swam a lot when residing in New Mexico and she knew for a fact that her eyes always stung more when in an indoor pool than in an outdoor one.
She rolled her eyes at her thoughts and searched the pool area, trying to figure out exactly what it was that was calling her to it. She didn’t know and couldn’t see anyone she knew. She doubted that Maria or Kyle would be here being that there were a ton of kids running around and while she may not know what Max had been up to all these years she doubted he had changed so much that he liked the screaming and just general mayhem that used to make him nervous or just get on his nerves.
Walking towards the outdoor part of the pool which really was just an extension of the indoor one, only separated by a sliding glass door she took a breath of fresh air. She knew she didn’t fit in with the rest of the people around her being that most of them donned flip flops and swim suits. She had just gotten off of work which meant she was in her standard ‘teacher gear’ which today consisted of a blue criss cross shirt, a pair of black trousers and originally she had on a black blazer however she had removed it and it was slung over her messenger bag since it was much too hot to wear it if it wasn't necessary. Her pants were a bit too long and she hadn't had time to hem them yet so she had paired them with a heeled boot so her pants didn't drag on the ground. Usually she wasn't one for crazy high heels however these looked good and she was seriously debating whether or not to leave the pants the way they were and to just wear these shoes whenever donning these pants.
Today was a day of firsts it seemed for her since it was one of the first days since she had received either that she didn’t have her infinity necklace on nor the rings that Max had given her. She didn’t know why but the thought of possibly bumping into him made it almost daunting to wear the rings so she had left them in her jewelry box at home and had simply worn nothing around her neck. She felt naked without them but she also felt like it was a smarter decision. What would she do if he had found someone new and then realized she was still holding on? She wouldn’t be able to take that embarrassment so it was just easier this way.
Her thoughts trailed off however a panicked voice drew her out of them and at the sound of the name leaving the woman’s lips her eyes shot across the room to where a blonde woman was looking panicked. She heard one word, Zan, and she knew. It was Zan who had drawn her here and she could be damned sure she wouldn’t lose him again. She quite literally pushed her way through people, trying to get to the blonde. The blonde meant finding Zan…at least she hoped it wasn’t a different blonde and a different Zan. She didn’t know what she’d do if she lost him again.

Zan just did not want to be found. It might have been a really really mean thing to do, but he had to do it. He could hear Bek's calls even as he held his breath under the water. He could hear the fear in her voice. But Zan just kept still. He let other kids swim over him, and he just sat there at the bottom of the pool waiting. Just waiting. Why? He did not know why. In fact he kind of shut down. He came up for air and another kid ran into him, Zan hardly moved, and said nothing. Which was very un Zan like. But he just kept himself in place, treading water for a bit before going back under, the muffled sounds of laughter and screaming, hit his ears, but he herd nothing. He just swam to the side of the pool, between the two doors, in the middle of the sliding door and the entrance to the pool area. He held onto the wall for a moment, long enough for Bek to run past pushing people aside, running. But not long enough for Liz to reach her. As Liz pushed her way around the mob of people, Zan effortless lifted himself from the pool, putting himself right in Liz' path.
Liz pushed through the group and was about ready to take off after Bek who was running in the other direction. Zan soaking wet just caught hold of her Liz's leg and hugged it. Holding on as tight as he could, dripping wet from the pool, which of course made it seem like she put her one leg in the pool, the rest of her dry. She was taller then he had remembered and so his arms were around her hips, not her waist. But it did not matter he just hugged. He kind of hoped that Bek would just forget about him and keep running, but he knew she'd not give up until he was found. And here was the hard part.
Liz was here, and that made him so happy, so content. But Bek... he could not leave her. It was weird but she saved him. Bek was a friend a best friend. not an adult or any kind of authority figure, but a friend. And Zan really needed a friend. But Liz... Liz was more then a mother, she was a memory the only memory he truly had from his early days as a baby. Liz was the only women he loved, like really loved. Sure he had his adopted mother, but that was different, and Bek too... Liz was just special, as was Max. Max and Liz were held at a different standard, they were his everything, and one thing he knew, he knew he belonged with them, always. He always knew that. He knew he never truly belonged in his adopted family's home, or the boys home, or even with Bek. He needed to be with Liz and Max. He might even die if he did not end up with them. His powers were getting stronger, and less predictable, and he needed guidance, a teacher.
As much as he wanted Bek, she could not help him. She only made it worse. He would disappear and she'd freak out, which really truly just escalated everything. He needed someone who could help him control it, and understand it. Help him know what he could truly do. Bek was not that person. She was a friend, a person to take him out and do all the fun stuff with an aunt maybe. But never a mother, and he really just needed a mother. "You came." Zan whispered as he hugged Liz, refusing to let her go even for a second. Zan knew this moment would come, he knew Liz would find him and he'd go home. He wanted this moment, he needed it. But it was hard to say goodbye to Bek. She was so fun, and exciting and let him do whatever he wanted. They giggled and played, and made a mess and did all kinds of things. But Zan needed a mother. Bek could never be that for him.
But any which way, Zan knew this moment would come. And e knew who he'd go home with. He always knew. It was always Liz. Bek was his friend his protector, but she could be nothing more. Anyway, Bek had to know she cant raise a child, no matter how hard she tried. There were rules and consistency, and she had none. Zan never knew if he was going to get fed or not, he'd have to make his own food if anything. Bek was just not a caregiver. She'd be great to visit but not to live with. As much as Zan hoped Bek would see it this way, he knew only bad things would come of him leaving. That's why he never left. He knew little about vampires, but he saw how sad she had gotten with that boy left. When Zan left her, she'd be alone and once again everyone would have left her, and he knew only bad things...bad bad things could come from this. He was not looking forward to it, but it had to be done.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She tried to follow the blonde but it was absolutely no use. For some reason she seemed to move quicker than normal but maybe that was just because to Liz everything seemed to be going in slow motion. She had heard this woman call to Zan…and she KNEW it had to be the same Zan! After all really how many damn Zan’s could there be? Also, how many blonde girls could be looking for a Zan? Okay so maybe both of those answers could be summed up as coincidental but still, the feeling that she had that led her here…that couldn’t be faked nor a coincidence!
She desperately wanted to throw her jacket and her bag to the side, slip off her heels and run after this woman but unfortunately she couldn’t draw that much attention to herself. She knew she needed to just keep moving, keep going through the motions until she could blast the woman to kingdom come for taking Zan. Okay, so she really wouldn’t blast her (unless she had hurt him and if so all damn bets were off) however she would use her powers to keep her ass where she was until she told her where Zan was.
She stopped immediately, seeing a child stop directly in her path. Before she could move around him she felt him grab onto her leg and that's when she knew. She felt his arms wet her clothing though it didn't phase her as she took in the unblemished skin of the young boy hugging her leg. "Zan." She croaked out and bent down, pulling him into her arms. She could feel his little body and the way that the water dripped off of it but it didn't phase her as she held him to her, never intending on letting him out of her sight again.
Hearing his whispered words ‘you came’ she choked back a sob as she held onto him tighter. “Of course I did. I’ve been looking for you everywhere.” She told him, running her hands over his head and back, making sure that he was alright. She might not have healing powers like he and his father did, but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t go to the ends of the earth and back to do whatever she could to find him a healer if he was hurt. Obviously he wasn’t since he was at the community center swimming and such but this situation had been ungodly stressful for her so clearly she was not thinking straight.
Looking around she realized they were making a scene. She hitched him up on her hip, knowing that he might be a little old for this but not caring in the slightest since if she had her way she’d have a low jack on him until he was 35 years old. Walking over towards a bench she sat down on it, keeping him on her lap and pulling back just a little so that she could look him in the eye as she spoke. “Are you alright?” She asked him, needing to know first and foremost that he was okay. She didn’t think he had been harmed…he didn’t look it anyway. But she also knew that looks could be deceiving…especially when the person that she was speaking about was an alien human hybrid who could heal himself. “Where have you been?”

Zan just smiled as she pulled him into a hug. This felt right. This just was right. As much as she loved Bek's arms, as safe as he felt in them, as much as he loved being their cuddling with her, it was never just right. He never just fit. Her body just did not change to fit his. It was not a perfect match, but it was close enough. It will always be close to perfect but not quite there. With Liz it was perfect. More perfect then it should be. No matter where he was, no matter what he touched, no matter what he said, she understood. She knew what he meant. Zan did not have to say a single word, yet they could have a whole conversation. No matter what Zan did, Liz fit. It just worked. Bek was like a shoe a half size too small, surly if you walked around enough you could break them in and they'd be molded to your foot, perfect. But they would always have been too small to start with. With Liz it was always just right, that would never change. That was stable, that was where he needed to be. He'd never just stop talking to Bek if he could help it. Though he was pretty sure Liz was going to have some strong words to say to Bek.
But Zan would stand up for her. Bek needed that, Bek was good, she just needed to believe it herself. Any which way, he was one step closer to home. His true home, not here, not this planet, but his home, with his family, with Liz, his father, his aunt and uncle, even his bio mother, assuming she was allowed to be with him. Liz was not to found of her apparently. She talked about her in an odd way. But Bek was like his adopted parents, he loved them, and always would, but they were never home. It's not where he wanted to be. Not where he needed to be. Now if he was there forever, it would hardly be bad, but there was better. Liz was better, and Max would surly be better then Liz. But if there was one thing he knew, the one memory he had, Max loved Liz, not Tess, never Tess. Liz was it, Liz was mom.
Zan clung tighter to her leg, but as she bend down he was forced to remove his arms from her, and wrap them around her neck, which worked better. This way she'd have to pick him up. She could not let him go. Not yet. When he had found her, when he saw her for the first time, he knew he knew her from somewhere. He never wanted to leave her after he found her. But she left him, made him go back to the boys home, made him do it. He could remember crying, surly thinking she'd never come back for him, that she was gonna give him up just like his daddy did so many years ago.
But she came back. Here she was... she was here. She looked for him, and she found him. This time, he would not let her go. Even if that meant hurting Bek, even if that meant bad things would happen, he would not let Liz go. He could not. He would not. He was so much closer to his true nature, his true self with her. He was sure if he would just explode if someone did not help him with the things he held onto inside. The power he had, untouched, screaming to be used, ready to burst at any moment, like a blood clot waiting for the right time to break free and slowly kill a person. Zan needed to know what he could do, he needed to practice and work on it, Bek could never help him with that, in fact she'd likely prefer it he did not have any kind of powers.
But still she came for him. Even if this was just chance, she came. She was put here again, his second change to never let her go. To get his life. He was dealt some pretty shitty hands, but they all lead to him being home. Or so he hoped. Home is where he needed to be. Even if he had to sit in a boys home for another year, he'd take it. So long as he knew he was going home. But he had done his time. He was ready to be home. Liz jut needed to take him this time. If she so much as tried to leave him again, he'd throw a hit, and Zan has never thrown a fit in his life, surly there will be fire balls.
"It's okay. You found me." Zan responded to her. He wanted to tell her where he had been, and all that, but he did not know how. It was not he did not have the words, he did. He knew he was with Bek, so he could say he was with Bek, it was more he did not know how to explain it to her. How do you tell someone you were getting your butt kicked in a movie theater and a scary girl with scary teeth saved you, and turned out to be not scary at all but super nice and loving and snuggle. And you were able to convince her to steal you away..... that was too complicated for him to begin to explain. But if he could find Bek, somehow call her over then she could tell Liz everything she needed to know, and then they could be friends, and Zan could have his two favorite girls.
She picked him up, and he rested his head on her shoulder as she moved them to a bench. He just hung on tight, hardly moving much, just holding on for dear life, like if he let go she'd be gone forever and ever, and he'd never get this chance again. She pulled him away, but he just did not want to move. It took a little longer of a hug, another try at pushing him back a bit, and more hugs before he leaned back and smiled at her. "Beks let me eat a whole box of cereals and she let me have red sauce." Zan answered in his very special way. He was happy, and very much okay. Beks, clearly being a person. And if he were having any kind of trouble, he would not be talking about cereal. But hey, she let him eat a whole box of cereal, that was a good day in Zan's book. Zan loved food, he'd eat anything, so long as it was a certain something. He'd eat cereal but only a select few, and the few he ate he loved. Though that all being said, it might be a bit concerning that this Bek person let a little boy eat a whole box of cereal(not in one day, but it was a big thing to him to be able to eat something all by himself) but a whole box by himself, with red sauce AKA Tabasco sauce. Who in their right mind would let a child eat something so hot. But then again Zan could not really taste without that or something similar. Any which way, he was clearly a lot happier then he was the first time Liz found him in a class room.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She looked down at his little cherub face and bit back a sob as she did. She had been more afraid than even she had realized that she would never see him again. Speaking as someone who knew his father when he was almost Zan's age, he looked very similar. The only difference was that Zan wasn't as skinny as Max had been. Max had been a bean pole up until high school while Zan seemed to have his mother's body type. Not that Tess was big and nor was Zan, but Tess had chubby cheeks that her son had inherited. It was adorable on the little boy...something that Liz never thought she'd say when it came to something about Tess.
She caressed the young boy's cheek as she looked him over…desperately trying to figure out if he was okay, if he was happy, sad, hurt, or perfectly healthy. Realistically she knew that she couldn't find out any of that until she spoke with him yet she knew if she said anything yet it would come out as a sob and she didn't want to frighten the child. Not that she thought Zan would be afraid but she didn't want to freak him out. He was sensitive, just like his father and she knew he would worry if she didn’t reign in her emotions.
Once she made her way to the bench and sat down with him in his arms she pulled him back to her, making sure that he was alright before pulling back again, reaching in back of her and grabbing a towel. She didn’t care if it belonged to someone or not, though by the generic white color she assumed it was one of the pool’s towels that they provided for people who didn’t bring their own. Once she had it in her hand she brought it down and started to dry the little boy off, laughing as she ran the towel through his hair and messed it up with a wink at him. She didn’t know what it was about him that made her feel as if she had to protect him but she knew damn well that it would be a long time before she allowed him out of her sight.
She shook her head and left the towel hanging around his shoulders as she took a deep breath, though before she could say anything, he himself did. “I was beginning to think I wouldn’t.” She admitted. “I searched everywhere and nothing. Zan, honey, there was a reason I gave you my other cell phone. Why didn’t you call me?” She asked him, though she knew that a number of things could have happened to it. She knew the first thing she would do once she left here was going to get another phone, this time with a full accessory kit including a battery pack and a charger and the whole nine yards. She was going to also make sure that it was some sort of crazy techno phone with one of those ‘find phone’ applications on it so that she could keep him safe and know where he was.
Excessive? Yes. Necessary? With this child. Absolutely.
She held up her hand to silence the little boy when he started rambling about somebody or something named Beks and cereal and the whole nine yards. “Alright buddy, I think you need to start from the beginning. Where have you been?” She asked before realizing this might not be the best place to have this conversation. “Why don’t we go outside and talk about this okay? It’s a little less crowded out there.”
No matter how relieved she was, she had to be smart about this.

Zan just kind of smiled, shaking his head as she moved to wipe his face with the towel, that was not his at all. He batted her hands away as she went to wipe his face again, and he just shook his little head, until she forgo the face and went right for the hair. Which she of course made all messy, which made her laugh, and him giggle in response. It was a natural thing, the two of them together. It was as if they already had a relationship. It was easy and they just fell into place. She was more or less his mother, and he acted as any child would do with a towel coming to his face, his mothers hand behind said towel. He'd rebel a little and push it away, wanting to wipe his own face. Which he already did really. When he had put his little head on her shoulder as they moved to the bench, he used her shirt as a towel. How nice of Zan to get her all wet... but it was the place of a child to ruin anything a mother had on. no matter what. It was Zan's job, and he did it well.
Zan kind of shrugged. Again what could he say? He knew Liz would never break him out of the shit hole he was living in. So he had to find another way out.... and Bek was that way out. So... he did what he had to do to get out. and well he liked it with Bek, he really did. He liked it with Liz also. but Bel was a friend and he needed a friend, though she was getting a bit odd now, ever since that boy man came over and tried to talk to him, things got a little strange. But still. He liked it with Bek and felt safe. He should have called her if he was in danger or whatever... and Zan was fine... with Bek he was fine. So he just did not call.. he did not think to call, he did not 'need' Liz. He wanted her sure, but he did not need her. Zan understood the definition of need and the difference between want and need. He wanted Liz he did not need her... not yet at least. If he was with Bek for much longer he'd NEED Liz, but he only wanted her now. Things were not that bad yet.
Zan just shrugged at her outside comment. So long as Liz picked his little butt up he'd go any where. But he was not walking no where... not today... at least not now. "I saws a movie." Zan explained. "And a super super big boy pushed me down, and I cired... and Bek showed her teeth and they ran away." Zan explained the best he could. "And I cried and they were mean... and Bek put me back. But I cried" Zan went on, trying to make Bek look like more of an adult then she might have been. But he knew Liz, and he did not want her to get mad. So he was trying to say that Bek tried to give him back to the boys home, but he would not go and convinced her to take him home. "And then I slept in a big big big bed all by my self, and she was sad and slept in a chair, and I woke up and we had cereal with red sauce. And then I colored her walls colors and then she took me swimming." Zan finished in one long breath. Did it make much sense, no not really. But Zan was doing his best here. He could talk like a normal person, and really explain it right. But he wanted to get it all out quickly and not stop to think about it all. So in the art of speaking and getting all the info out quickly, he lost some grammar, and lost the ability to put things in adult people words.
But it kind of got what he was trying to say across. He went to a movie, got into a fight, Bek saved him from said fight, tried to get him to do the right thing, but he used his little boy charm on her and made her do the wrong thing. And she took him home, he slept in his own bed, while she looked over at him, keeping him safe, and fed him and let him do whatever he wanted, and then they went swimming, and he was here... and she was not. So that was that. But it was also normal. Bek was a friend not a parent. She protected him, and if he so much as whispered her name in fear she'd be there to save him. So he was safe, not really watched... but safe... from everything.. but himself. At least Zan was smart enough not to go down some bleach or what not, and he could read alright so he knew what bad things were and what was 'safe' to drink. Though the soda's made his throat burn, so he was still not sure how safe it was, but it would apparently not kill him, even if it did burn on the way down.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She laughed at the tiny boy in her arms. He was a typical child who did not want anything touching his face. She remembered when his father had been like that one time. Not that he had ever been that outgoing but she clearly remembered one time in particular. Something had happened in class, she couldn't remember what now, but something had exploded all over the class. It was maybe fourth grade...and Isabel had wiped her own face before pulling a classic big sister move and tried to wipe Max's face. He looked just as Zan did at that moment and it made her heart to see it...in a good way that is.
She quickly scooped him up in her arms and made her way outside, not allowing him out of her sight or arms. She knew that most kids his age didn't want to be carried but he didn't seem to mind so she was going to continue to do it until he said something. Even then she might tie a rope around his wrist so that she knew where he was at all time. No, she'd be more modern than that. She'd get him a kids cell phone with GPS and yes, she was going slightly overboard...but sue her...she had been worried! She listened as he spoke about seeing a movie…what person lets a child into a movie by himself? She’d definitely be looking into that more later.
Wait, a boy made her little boy cry? Some girl showed her teeth. She was highly confused and wanted to demand clarification but none of it seemed to matter at this point due to the fact that she had him in her arms and that he was safe and completely fine. She continued to look him over, her eyes never leaving his face…trying to memorize it. She had become even more attached to him than she had realized it and she felt like she could easily keep him with her forever. Is this how mothers felt? If so how did any mother ever let their children leave their sight? Oh dear god she might need some serious counseling once all this was over with.
She quirked an eyebrow at the cereal with red sauce thing. "Cereal with red sauce? Why did you put sauce on cereal?" She asked him, knowing that it wasn't really important but figuring that she could ask something innocent. She ignored the comment about coloring her walls colors at first until she realized exactly how he could have done that. "Wait...how did you color her walls? Did you use markers or something else?" She asked, nodding her head to his hands to hopefully show what she meant. She needed to know if he used his powers in front of anyone or if he had actually colored on the walls. She had a feeling it wouldn’t be as innocent as using markers on the walls and knowing Zan if he did he cleaned it before he showed anyone which meant she was going to have a lot of damage control to do.
How the hell was she going to pull this one off?
She took a deep breath before letting it out. “Alright sweetheart, why don’t we find this Bek and I can introduce her? That way maybe one day you guys can hang out again as long as it’s okay with her that is.” She asked him, though internally she was dreading that promise. She didn’t know how she felt about someone who had taken a little boy and not tried to find where he belonged…but she’d reserve her complete judgment until she got to know this person. After all, she figured Zan was a pretty good judge of character so if he liked this person, she would give them a chance.
