After his trip to Italy with Elena, Stefan had a few questions he needed answers too, and he knew just the man for the job. Semi retired vampire hunter/ history school teacher, Alaric Saltzman. He hadn't really talked to Elena's "guardian" since the night Elena and Lexi tortured him to return. Stefan knocked on Alaric's door. "Hey Mr. Saltzman." He told Ric, Ric didn't mind being called Ric or Alaric, but Stefan was proper especially in school when it came to calling his "teachers" by Mr or Mrs followed by their last name he entered the classroom it was early in the morning and Alaric had his flask out.

"Is everything ok Ric?" Stefan asked him, Alaric never drank at school, but something must of happened for him to bring it out in the early morning before classes even started. Suddenly Stefan's problems didn't seem so bad right now. Stefan knew he would probably have to take Ric to his apartment to sleep it off and compel the school administrator that Alaric had a family emergency to attend and that he needed the day off, but that was the last thing on his mind. Before he could say anything else Alaric slid his phone across his desk towards Stefan, who picked it up and began reading.

The text, from Jeremy. stated that Jenna was back and that she was a vampire. Suddenly Alaric's drinking at school made sense to Stefan. The first part must of been hard enough to stomach, his once dead girlfriend was back. That was a lot to take in, the next part must of been really hard for Alaric. Stefan patted Alaric on the back, before taking the flask from him. "Sorry its for your own good Ric." Stefan said before drinking all of the alcohol quickly down. Alaric must of been to drunk already to fight about it so Stefan grabbed the man and threw his arm over his shoulder and carried him from the classroom.

Finally getting Alaric back to his apartment and sobered up he handed him a cup of coffee and some aspirin. "Sorry about Jenna." Stefan told him. He knew it was hard on him, he wondered what was going on in Alaric's mind right now.

Hearing a knock on his door, Alaric winced at the sudden loud sound, well it was loud to him. "Stefan." He manged to say to the vampire before him. Stefan knew something was wrong right away and asked about it. Alaric didn't feel like talking right at this moment, so he slid the phone to Stefan and allowed him to read the news. Alaric didn't know how to feel about it right away, the first part was good news, Jenna was back! Alaric could of done without the second part however, she was in fact a vampire now and Alaric was unsure what to do, so he opened his flask and began drinking.

Before he knew it Stefan grabbed his flask from his hand and drank the liquid down, claiming it was for his own good. Alaric's mind had him on top of Stefan with a stake in the vampires chest, but he just sat there, to drunk to do anything about it. He felt the vampire lift him out of his seat like he was nothing and he woke up a few hours later back at his apartment as Stefan gave him some coffee and some aspirin. Alaric took the aspirin and drank down the coffee. "Its ok Stefan." Alaric told him as he rubbed his head, trying to get rid of his massive headache, he wasn't mad at Stefan who was only trying to help.

Alaric knew Stefan got everything sorted out with the school, so he wasn't worried about losing his job. Alaric sat there thinking. "How did my life get like this?" He asked Stefan, he knew the answer, it started when Damon turned Isabel. Now his girlfriend, or ex-girlfriend, or he didn't even know what they were right now as she hasn't talked to him yet, was a vampire. His best friend, Damon who turned his wife by the way, was a vampire. The two children he was suppose to be the legal guarding of were both dating vampires, and now he was the town drunk that drank at school and nearly lost his job today.

"Was there something you wanted to talk about?" Alaric asked him finally, hoping Stefan's problems would take his mind off things. Though he could tell by the look on Stefan's face that he wanted to get the Jenna thing sorted first. "Look Stefan, I still love her, and I probably always will, its just gonna take me some time." Alaric told him. This finally got Stefan to talk about why he came into his classroom this morning.

Stefan felt really really bad for Alaric. He knew that the other man was in some serious pain right now. He knew he still loved Jenna despite what she was, but at the end of the day, he knew it was gonna take Alaric some time before he was ok with it all. "Just keep an open mind. Alaric, she probably still loves you and you know she is a good person, so she is a good vampire as well. Give her a chance." Stefan told his friend, and he wasn't ashamed to call Alaric a friend. Alaric knew not all vampires were bad, but to date one for him was a different story.

Stefan really didn't have the heart to tell Alaric how it all happened. He knew that it was partially Damon's fault. For what Damon did to Isobel. Still, there were other factors that led to this point. "Just hang in there Ric, everything will work its way out in the end." Stefan told him, patting him on the shoulder friendly. He listened as Alaric told him to tell him why he came to see him in his classroom this morning, but Stefan was way to concerned with Alaric right now and how he was doing to bring up his problems.

When Alaric insisted that it was fine and to tell him, Stefan nodded, knowing that Alaric only wanted to hear it all right now so that he could keep his mind off of Jenna. Stefan cleared his throat. "Well, you know I took Elena to Italy for the week, well something happened." Stefan told Alaric and he let Alaric speak before continuing himself. "We... handled it, but I had a few questions that require your expertise." Stefan told him with a smile, knowing that working on something was the best thing for Alaric right now, that way he can figure out his own problems later.

"The first matter is, have you ever heard of a vampire hunter by the name of Joc Pederson?" Stefan asked him, having memories of the events that happened in Italy and the name of this man was not a good feeling for Stefan. That much was for sure. He looked down, hesitant to ask the 2nd question that was on his mind, but he knew of no one else that could help him. "The 2nd thing, is it possible to be addicted to a certain type of human blood?" Stefan asked him, seeing the look on his face he knew Alaric was concerned about this part of his inquiry.

Getting love advice from a vampire seemed a bit ironic to Alaric, but Stefan was right. Despite what Jenna now was, she was the love of his life, the person he desperately loved. The person he would go to bed every night crying over and wake up thinking about. Jenna was it for him. It was gonna be an adjustment and him and Jenna both had to have known that, and it was gonna take a little while for Alaric to fully trust that she wont vampire hulk out on him and kill him, but at the end of the day it could work, it had to work, as he had to be with her.

"How do you do it with Elena? How does she not cower in fear at what you could potentially do to her?" Alaric asked him, it was an honest question, but Alaric felt he knew the answer already. Love and trust. Elena trusted and loved him and she knew that he wouldn't hurt her, not if he could help it. Sure there was some mishaps, but at the end of the day Stefan didn't kill Elena and he could never kill her out of love. Alaric hopped Jenna felt the same way and once she earned his trust then they will be the perfect couple once again.

"Sure I am all ears, but try not to speak to loud, I am still hungover." Alaric told him, glad at the change of subject from his own personal life to that of Stefan's. He was concerned for Elena's well being, but he knew Stefan protected her with all of his might in Italy, but it was still curious as Stefan went on. He mentioned a hunter by the name of Joc Pederson. "I have never heard of him. I will look into it and see if I can find out anything about him. Hope he didn't give you to much trouble." Alaric told Stefan, he just hoped Stefan only killed him cause he had to.

"Well, I really am not the expert on vampire blood addiction, but seeing as vampires are addicted to blood in general, it probably is possible that a vampire could be addicted to a certain type of blood." Alaric said to him, his eyes scanned Stefan's face for any clue on who's blood he could be addicted to. Then it hit him, like a ton of bricks, or maybe it was just the hangover. "Stefan, tell me your not...." His voice trailed off. He knew exactly who's blood Stefan was referring too, and it made him sick in the stomach.

"Well it isn't easy." Stefan told him, but he knew Alaric already knew that about him and Elena. "Jenna loves you, and if she loves you as much as I love Elena, then she will do anything she can to make sure she doesn't hurt you." Stefan told Alaric honestly. He was more worried about Alaric turning on Jenna then Jenna turning on Alaric if he was gonna be honest on the matter. Like any relationship, it took a lot of love, a lot of luck, and a lot of trust. He knew however that if he and Elena could make it, even after what happened this past summer, then Jenna and Alaric can do it too.

"Thanks Ric, anything you can come up with would be helpful." Stefan told Alaric honestly. He really wished things didn't go down like they did in Italy, but Stefan did what he had to and that was the end of it. Still this guy seemed to be a little bit more extreme then your normal run of the mill hunter. Alaric was a cuddly teddy bear to vampires compared to Joc Pederson, and he just wanted to know why. Why this guy was like that. Stefan then saw the look on Alaric's face and he knew that Alaric was gonna figure it out and guilt ran through Stefan's body like a shockwave.

"I only tried it once and I had to do it for both our sakes, but I can't get it out of my mind." Stefan said to him honestly. There was no other choice and he only did it to protect Elena. If he hadn't, then neither of them would of returned to Mystic Falls from Italy, he pleaded with Alaric to not be to angry with him. "She is a doppelganger, could that have anything to do with it?" Stefan asked him. Since he returned, even blood from a bag, human blood, wasn't as satiable as it had been before Italy. He looked away from Alaric, not even Elena knew this yet.

"Do you think you can look into it for me? There hasn't to be something on the subject." Stefan told him. It was different before, in those high stressed situations when he fed on her, he did it cause he was either forced to or out of hunger. He fed on her this time because he had to out of love, and it felt good. He swallowed hard. "I would appreciate some confidence on this subject. I haven't told her yet." Stefan told him honestly. He needed Alaric to be a true friend right now.

Alaric nodded, his words actually comforted the hunter. He was glad he was talking to Stefan about this before he met up with Jenna again. If he hadn't had this conversation, things might turn out differently, but he knew what he had to do now and he knew that he had to give Jenna the benefit of the doubt. He owed her way more then that, and it was true, he loved her and he hoped she loved him still. Jenna would be a good vampire, she would never hurt a human being, least of all him, and he knew that. It was just like jumping into a pool without testing the water first, it was quite scary.

He nodded again when the vampire thanked him for looking into the first matter. He could tell it weighed heavily on Stefan's mind. Whatever happened must of been quite extreme for Stefan to bring it up. Running into a hunter was common, even Alaric knew a few and called some close friends, so there was something else there. Something this hunter did that made Stefan worried and he wanted to get to the bottom of it. "Most are reclusive, but I have a few contacts that may be able to track down a lead on him, it will take some time however." Alaric told him honestly.

Stefan's next words shocked him. "I see, and she was ok with it?" Alaric asked him, but he didn't answer. Something happened in Italy that Stefan wasn't telling him and that was fine, but as long as he was honest about not hurting Elena then he was surprisingly fine with it. He knew that Stefan wouldn't do it unless he absolutely had to, and even then he wouldn't do it unless Elena told him to. He nodded at his request to look into it. Last thing Stefan wanted was to be addicted to his girlfriends blood, the vampire already had trouble with self control with regular blood.

"yeah, I will find something, Stefan. Be careful with her?" Alaric asked him, when the vampire nodded in response he just shrugged. "I won't tell her, but you can't keep it a secret, she will want to know something like this." Alaric informed him, when Stefan gave his nod Alaric stood up. "I should probably get cleaned up and get out of the apartment at some point today, don't want people to think I am a shut in." Alaric told him with a smile. When Stefan nodded and stood up, the two said their goodbyes, feeling more questions then answers arose from the conversation.
