- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -It had been three days since she and Angel had gotten interrupted while they were trying to have a serious conversation. Since then she had avoided him like the plague as she didn't want to have said conversation. She knew that they needed to have it but she wasn't ready to have it. She knew it was petty and she knew that she had to deal but at the same time she wasn't ready to admit what her issues were. Yes it was irrational and yes she was an adult and could deal with her problems by herself...but she wasn't ready to tell him what they were...hence the avoidance.
Luckily for her he was out for the evening. She assumed he had gone on patrol but she didn't know. All she knew was that when she got home he hadn't been there and rather than question it she simply ran upstairs and changed out of her work clothes and into something more akin for exercise. She didn't need to keep up with the latest exercise crazes in order to keep her body toned as it was something that came naturally to her but that didn't mean that she didn't need to use the punching bag every once in a while to work out the aggressions.
Removing all her clothing she quickly shrugged on a sports bra before pulling out a white and black tank top. She paired it with a black pair of yoga pants with a white fold over flap before decision to stay barefoot. It wasn't as if she needed to worry about shoes in the house plus this way she could get some flips and such in as well without breaking anything downstairs. Once changed she made her way quickly and silently downstairs, making sure not to meet anyone on her way. She didn't want anyone joining her.
Forty five minutes later she groaned as she hit the punching bag so hard it fell off of the chain it had been hanging on and split open. "Damn." She muttered under her breath, knowing work out time was over and it was now time for her to clean up the mess. This was why she preferred to take out her aggressions on vampires rather than punching bags...at least vampires didn't leave as big of mess. Well, depending on the vampire and how old they were she guessed it depended on how much mess.
Either way, she preferred dust to the fabric, chains and beans that she was dealing with now. Damn punching bag.

Oz couldn't believe what was going on in his life. It all seemed so surreal to him. First he found Willow and the rest of his friends again. Or maybe they found him? He wasn't quite sure, but it was odd how it all worked out. He really thought he would never see any of them again, but here they were and he was living with them as if nothing happened, they took him back an excepted him as a member of their Scooby Family like it was just yesterday that he last saw any of them. Then he found out Willow was with Lenore, and it nearly killed him inside.
He didn't think he would ever get over it. He always held out hope for him and Willow, and it was soon dashed, and it was over in a flash. Maybe it was for the best, Oz still really didn't trust himself around her, and if he hurt her, he would never forgive himself. Still, he loved her, and that was never gonna change. Now he met and fell in love with Jade and even though he knew they would tell him he deserved to be happy, he felt guilty about it. It wasn't like him and Willow ever had a shot, but he didn't know, or didn't want to know what she thought.
He was scared to tell her as he was scared that it would hurt her in some way. Even if she said she was fine with it, that fear would always be there. He wanted to be with Jade for as long as possible, forever if she wanted, but that didn't change the fact he felt like he was letting Willow down. Oz remembered when Willow told him that she was with Lenore, and how he felt, and part of him wondered if Willow would feel the same way about finding out about him and Jade. It was driving him nuts the whole situation and he was just worried about it.
He heard noises in the training room and came in just in time to watch Buffy break open the bag. "What did that punching bag ever do to you?" Oz asked her, coming up to her to help her clean up the mess she had made. He wondered if Buffy would be the best person to ask for advice, then again, it wasn't like her love life was any more easy then his was. He wondered if all of them were doomed to have miserable love lives, even when they were in a committed relationship. "I'm glad you don't treat me this way." He said in reference to the bag.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She bent down slowly to try and pick up some of the stupid beans that had spilled out of the bag. She was in the zone trying to clean up which was the reason that she didn't hear someone approaching on the stairs nor did her senses alert her that another predator had come near her. The deadpan voice of Oz broke her out of her cleaning and she jumped up, immediately falling into an offensive stance before she could register who the voice was coming from. She relaxed her pose as soon as she realized who it was and laughed. "It caught me on a really bad day." She told him with another laugh.
She smiled in thanks as Oz moved down to help her clean and in no time the two of them had all the beans that had spilled picked up and she took the bag over to the trash can that they kept down there and shoved it in. "I'll make one of the guys drag it upstairs to the trash later. It'll do them some good." She told him with a wink before nodding to Angel's room, making it very obvious who she would be bugging to take it up later. She could easily carry it up and she probably would before it was all said and done but it was fun to pretend that she'd make Angel do it.
"So since I doubt you came here to watch me ruin another punching bag, why don't we go upstairs and you can tell me the real reason that you came." She told him before motioning up the stairs. She bounded up the stairs quickly and made her way into the kitchen, desperate for something to drink. She debated whether or not just drinking water however she figured Gatorade was the way to go so she pulled one of those out motioning to the refrigerator and then motioning to Oz. "Did you want something to eat or drink? And by eat I mean we can order something since my cooking experience includes making Thanksgiving dinner while fighting ancient Indian spirits." She told him with a chuckle.
She had pretty much given up on cooking since then. For one thing she hadn't had much time nor the desire to cook. Also unfortunately back in Sunnydale she hadn't had the money to buy ingredients to cook so she had stuck with things that were cheap and easy. Since Sunnydale had been blown up she had gone back to having no time.

"Oh, anything I can help with?" Oz asked her when she claimed it caught her on a bad day. Oz doubted he could help Buffy with anything that didn't pretain to looking up the latest Big Bad in a book or something like that. But he thought he would at least offer, after all she and him were suppose to be friends, and that is what friends did, they helped each other when they could. Oz didn't mind helping her clean up a bit, it got his mind off of things, he really wished everything was perfect. But it was all his fault after all, he was the one that ran away all those years ago.
"Don't look at me." Oz said to her when she said she would get one of the guys to take it out later. Oz of course knew Buffy meant Angel, though her getting Angel to do anything would be a small miracle. He figured that, that was probably the problem. Buffy and Angel, that was always the cause of Buffy's bad days. He couldn't blame her, as the cause of his bad day was the one time love of his life as well. So, as they say, love is blind and that is just the way it was for both of them apparently. He nodded when she suggested to talk upstairs.
"Thanks." Oz told her for her, even though she hasn't really heard his problem yet, just the fact she wanted to meant a lot to him. He sat down and shook his head no when she asked him if he wanted anything to eat. "I'm good thanks." Oz said, as complicated as things were about Jade and Willow and him, there was something else on his mind. "Can I ask why, why everyone was so happy to see me again? Its been a long time and I just figured you guys moved on." Oz told her, they were close in high school, yeah, but he expected some friction at first, but there wasn't any.
"Is it bad that I am glad I missed that Thanksgiving?" Oz asked her with a smile. He heard that story from Willow and it sounded like the typical Buffy dinner party. So it really didn't surprise him in the least. "Its about Willow. You know I started seeing someone as well? What should I do?" Oz asked her, yeah like she was the best person to go to for relationship advice, but other then Cordy and Willow herself, Oz didn't know very many of the other women in town, so Buffy was the only one he could go to, but he wasn't gonna tell her that.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -A soft smile graced her lips when Oz asked her if there was anything she could do. She had always liked Oz and while she adored Tara as well, she had always thought Willow and Oz were the epitome of perfect couple. She of course being Willow's best friend knew that the two had issues but she had always found them to be a very strong couple and was devastated for Willow and the group as a whole when Oz left town. She knew that Xander had felt the same way she had when Oz left and while they had all embraced Tara, they all felt the hole that had been made when Oz left.
"No thanks, just stressed out about stuff. Not a big deal, thank you though." She told him sweetly. "What about you, you look like you could use a chat...what's going on?" She asked him. It wasn't that he had a look on his face because that wasn't Oz. Oz always had the impassive look about him and was very internal about his thoughts. It was one of the reasons that he and Willow had made such a great couple. She talked a lot and he liked to listen...worked out perfectly.
Then again, she had thought that about she and Angel too and yet here they were barely speaking again. No, she wasn’t going to think about that now. She didn’t want to think about it and while she kenw that she would have to figure out exactly what was going on between them eventually she was going to live in the land of denial for as long as she could. At least she was going to try until it slapped her in the face…which knowing her luck with love and life in general it was sure to be soon.
She laughed when he spoke about that Thanksgiving. "No, you definitely didn't miss much. Though seeing Spike stuck with a bunch of arrows was definitely amusing. And I'm sure he really wouldn't love if he knew I was still laughing at that. He was not at all amused.” She told him with a snicker. She wasn't surprised that he wanted to talk about Willow as that was one of the few topics that Oz would actually ever talk about to someone else. "I didn't know you were seeing someone else but I say follow your heart." She told him before rolling her eyes. "And yes I realize how cliché that sounds but still...it's what you should do. What does your heart tell you?"
She sighed. “I’m the last person who should be giving relationship advice and I’m sure you’re here because who else are you going to go to…but that’s my advice. Follow your heart. What does it tell you and once you know that, listen to it…and make whoever it is your heart is pointing to listen too.”

"Well if there is anything I can do, don't hesitate to ask." Oz told Buffy when she politely declined his offer to help her. Oz knew Buffy was an independent sort of gal. That is why Angel and her were so perfect. She didn't need to be around him 24/7, and he preferred to brood in his room alone a lot of the time. Win-win in this scenario. Though he could tell that Buffy, as independent as she was, still wanted to be with and around Angel as much as possible, and it was not easy on her. He wished he knew how to help them, they were the perfect couple to him.
He honestly thought that they were perfect together. The irony of the relationship not withstanding, they were both strong, smart independent beings. They cared deeply about each other and others and they were cute together. Oz wished there was nothing keeping them apart, as they belonged together, perhaps more so then he though him and Willow belonged together. He could see how that would be on Buffy's mind 24/7. Oz didn't know if he could handle a situation like that. Buffy really was a strong willed individual if she was able to stand it for as long as she has.
He shrugged, yeah he did need help, but asking for it was hard for him, especially since it was something he had to talk about. Oz didn't talk much, he was famous for it, you were lucky to get more then a handful of words in response out of him. It wasn't that he didn't like the people, he just preferred to deal alone and in his own mind. But sometimes, like right now, the topic was to hard to deal with on his own. "Yeah, I could use the help." He told her truthfully, thankful she offered as he really didn't have very many options on who to turn to right now.
"To bad no one took a photo of that." Oz said, in reference to Spike. That holiday might of been worth it if he got to see Spike in that situation. To bad they didn't have any photos of it, as him and Buffy would probably be having a pretty dang good laugh at Spikes expense right now. Oz didn't know Spike that well, the Spike he knew was evil, but according to most of his friends, he tempered off and became a pretty decent guy. He wondered if he would be able to be friends with Spike. Spike did try to kill Willow at one point, and would of succeeded if not for the chip blocking him from hurting another human.
Oz knew she wouldn't be surprised to find out what he needed had something to do with Willow. "I... don't know." Oz told her when she asked him what his heart told him to do. On the one hand, Jade was an awesome chick and he felt something for her instantly, but Willow, she was his first love and nothing was ever gonna change that. "Willow is with Lenore." He pointed out, so even if he wanted Willow more then he wanted Jade, it was a mute point as he couldn't have Willow. Maybe his situation was like Buffy's. They both wanted someone they couldn't have.
It was time to be completely honest or keep his mouth shut. "Buffy, I like Jade, she is sweet and you will like her, but..." Oz felt like he was talking to much, which for him he was giving a speech right now. "I love Willow, always have and always will. I don't know what to do." Oz said, it all felt so hopeless to him. Even if he could talk Willow into taking him back, which was impossible when she was with Lenore, he didn't know if he could hurt Jade like that. He put himself in this situation and he just had to lay in the bed he made.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She smiled softly at the werewolf. She knew that he was aware that she was independent. She remembered numerous fights between she and Xander that Oz had witnessed because she didn't run to the group every time she had a problem. No, actually she used to run to Angel when he was still in Sunnydale. After he had left she finally realized how often she had gone to him which was the reason she had learned to bear things by herself. Now she usually just internalized it all. It was something that she had gotten used to over the years and while it did get a bit taxing sometimes, having so much weight on her shoulders...she had learned to handle it.
Turning her attention back to Oz she focused on the here and now. She didn't want to focus on the past. It saddened her to think about all she had lost and all that she would never get back. Sure she had her friends and Dawn here in Richmond, but the relationships that they all had were irrevocably changed in ways that no one could ever get over fully. She, Xander and Willow had been changed when she was brought back from heaven. She and Angel had been changed when he left her. No, it was before that. They had been changed when he had lost his soul and he came back from hell. They had tried a relationship with no passion because they were afraid of it…it was the reason that Angel left in the end…because he was afraid that they would give into it eventually…and she knew they would have if they had continued on the way that they had been going. She hated to admit it and it took her a long time to accept that…but it was true.
"If I would have had the time I would have. Could always ask Angel to draw it since he was there. Granted I'm not sure he saw Spike or he might have given himself away and run in to stake him but eh, you could ask him whenever he shows back up." She told him, masking the bitter tone of her voice with a laugh. She hated that he hadn't told her he was there and while she had gotten the memories of the day she spent with him a few days after that when she was in heaven, it still didn't erase the hurt though she had long ago gotten over the initial sting.
She had known that Willow was with someone knew but she hadn't mentioned her in awhile and Buffy nor Xander had met the girl...at least not to her knowledge. "Just because Willow is with someone new doesn't mean her feelings for you changed Oz. I haven't spoken to Willow about it honestly, we've all been a little busy lately...but have you talked to Willow at all about you two?" She asked, not wanting to dig completely into their relationship but wanting to know the basics so that she could help…or at least try to help. She knew that she was not the best person to ask about relationships since the three men she had been with on a physical and emotional level in Sunnydale, two of which were vampires and one ended up getting addicted to vampire bites…yeah, she got an F in relationships.
"If you love Willow, then you need to talk to her about it. Tell her straight up that you still love her. You owe it to yourself and her to figure out where things could go with the two of you. But also you owe it to Jade to figure out where your heart really lies so that you don't hurt Jade if you don't have too. If your heart tells you that Willow is the one then you need to listen to it, for all of you."

Oz really didn't know what to do. If he took Buffy's advice and it backfired on him, then he would loose both girls he cared about. But if he ignored his heart and ignored what he felt that he would only loose one of the girls he cared about, but he would lose the one he cared for most. Oz sort of knew Willow still felt the same way, there was just no way of getting over your first love, no matter what happened. But that wasn't the problem, the problem was there was no way for them to be together, and if he told her how he felt, everything could fall apart.
"I just wish I knew for a fact what Willow would say." Oz told Buffy when she said that her feelings for him probably hadn't changed. It was probably the truth, but what was he suppose to do about it was the question. Buffy told him to follow his heart, but following his heart seemed like it would lead to a train wreck, and that was scary, even though he didn't want to admit it out loud. She then asked him if they talked to each other at all about their feelings for each other. Oz shook his head no at the blonde slayer.
"I couldn't, she told me about Lenore." Oz said to her in response. Oz wanted to tell her how he still felt, but then she said that she was happy with another girl. So Oz kept his mouth shut, which he was unsurprisingly good at. He didn't feel right telling Willow that he still loved and needed her when she was happy already with somebody else. Oz wouldn't be able to do something like that, even though he has never met Lenore before, that would still be a crappy thing to do to her, taking her girlfriend from her, Oz wasn't like that, but that didn't stop him from being conflicted.
"What if I tell her and she still wants to be with Lenore?" Oz asked Buffy, admitting probably for the first time ever that it scared him. Oz didn't know how bad it would feel if Willow rejected him, again. He wondered if not telling her and pretending everything was ok felt better then it would feel if he told her and she said no. "But what if she said yes? What am I suppose to tell Jade?" Oz asked, both routes seemed pretty scary to the young werewolf. At least if he kept his mouth shut, Willow can go on being happy with Lenore and he can be happy with Jade and no one got hurt.
But one way or another, if he told Willow, then someone was getting hurt, rather it was him, or rather it was Lenore and Jade, someone would not walk away the same. He nodded, he guessed honesty was the best policy right now. And as much as he hated to admit it, it would be better to get it out in the open instead of letting it fester, even if that meant that someone was gonna get hurt. "What would you do Buffy? Would you tell Willow you want to get back with her? That you still love her?" Oz asked her, finally admitting it out loud for the first time that he did in fact still love Willow, even though he was fairly certain that Buffy already knew anyways.
He actually felt like a really crappy person admitting it out loud like this, even though it was to Buffy and not to Willow. He didn't want anyone to get hurt, and if someone got hurt cause of him, he would hate himself. He figured he deserved Willow's rejection for being a crappy person, it was karma in his case.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She smiled sadly at the werewolf standing in front of her. "I know." She told him...and she did know. She remembered how difficult it had been for her to open up to Angel and make them talk. Angel was never a talker...just like Oz had been. So she had to take the reins and force the conversation. It hadn't been easy and it hadn't been something she could predict...but she knew that the topic was worth delving into. She could have easily walked away but she refused to let it because in the end having Angel was worth whatever she had to deal with to make it happen.
“What’s worse though? Hearing from Willow that she’s happy with whom she is with and she doesn’t want to try again…or constantly wondering?” She asked him, though she knew the answer for her at least. The indecision had always been the worst part for her. It was one of the reasons that she was the slayer and the rest were the ones who did the research. She didn’t handle not knowing things well. She was a woman of action and it was one of the many reasons that not knowing what was in Angel’s heart had been worse than if he would have told her that he didn’t want to try again. At least then she could deal with it and move on…but indecision…there was no way to move on from that.
"Oz, listen to me okay? I know I'm not the best at relationship advice so feel free to listen and then discard...but listen. Even though I was with Riley...and I loved him...I was never in love with him because my heart always belonged to Angel. Just because that she's with someone, doesn't mean that her heart still doesn't belong to you. I don't know...Willow and I haven't talked in awhile because of everything going on but being with someone doesn't mean that she doesn't still love you." She told him, hoping he would see where she was coming from.
"You tell Jade the truth...she deserves that." She told her, answering his next question. "Tell her that you care about her but your first love wanted to try and work things out and you owed it to both of you to give it another chance. She may be hurt but she'll be better in the long run for it because it's better to know now that your heart belongs to someone else than after she's already fallen in love with you." She told her, remembering how she had pretty much done the same thing to Riley but she had been selfish and held on when she should have let him go a long time before she did.
"I did tell...not Willow but Angel. When Willow, Xander, Giles and I were in Rome? We got word that Angel had died in Los Angeles. I had put on a good front but it wasn't easy. Then all of a sudden I'm patrolling one night and boom, there he is. Standing in front of me and all I did was burst into tears and throw myself into his arms. He held me and comforted me but then there was awkwardness. A few weeks later I finally forced him to talk about it. You know Angel, he doesn't talk...ever. So that was fun. But I pretty much laid it out on the table and told him I loved him and I wanted to try again. It wasn't easy and I was scared to death...but I did it because I loved him enough to try one more time." She told him before laying a hand on his shoulder and looking directly into his eyes.
“So the question is, do you love Willow enough to put your heart on the line and try again?”

"Probably the not knowing." Oz replied to her when she asked which was worse. He probably could take the rejection a lot better then wondering forever rather or not it was completely over between him and Willow. He guessed she had a point there. 20 years from now, if he finds out that Willow did still love him and wanted to try again, but he never told her so she never said anything, he would kick himself. Knowing and getting rejected was better then not knowing and living a life full of regret and pain and anger.
He nodded at her story about how she was with Riley and how she loved him but her heart always belonged to Angel. He always knew that, Xander always knew that, Angel always knew that, Riley always knew that, everyone always knew. It wasn't a really big secret that Buffy's heart always belonged to Angel. But she did what Oz is trying to do now, and that was move on from Angel. "Buffy, I will tell you the truth." Oz told her, taking a deep breath, it wasn't gonna be easy for him to say, as he had been hiding it ever since he came to Richmond.
"I honestly love Jade. But I will always pick Willow, no matter what." Oz told her, looking down. Deep down he knew that Jade probably knew that, as great as she is he would always choose Willow over her, yet she still took the risk in going out with him. She was brave, braver then Oz ever felt in his entire life. Either way, no matter what Willow said, it was gonna be one awkward conversation, and maybe it will only make things worse for awhile, but maybe at the end of the day it would make everything better. That is what he hoped for.
He guessed she was right about Jade. IF there was any hope for him and Willow, Jade was better off knowing right away that his heart belonged with Willow. He can't string her along, he couldn't do that to her. Giving her a little pain and heartache now would be a lot better then completely destroying her heart later. Telling her the truth now may spare her feelings enough to where she doesn't completely hate Oz forever, and she may become his friend even though he broke up with her. But it didn't matter, not till he talked to Willow first.
For once, it seemed like Oz was gonna have to do all the talking, and he was just gonna have to make Willow listen, even if it was hard for her to hear, even if she didn't want to hear it. He was gonna tell her. He nodded. "I have an answer to that question." Oz said to her when she asked him if he loved Willow enough to put it all on the line for her. "Yes, without a doubt, I do love her, so much." Oz told Buffy, there was almost a freeing aspect to finally admitting it out loud, that if he did it once he can do it again, and this time to the person who needed to hear it.
"Can I ask you one more question and then I will get out of your hair?" Oz asked her with a frown. It was really the final question he had to ask. "What do you think she would say honestly? As one of her best friends, what you think her answer is gonna be?" Oz asked her, he guessed at the end of the day it really didn't matter what Buffy thought Willow's answer would be, and he doubted he would get a 100% straight to the point answer from her, but he wanted to ask her, just to see what happened.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She smiled and nodded, understanding and agreeing with him. "I agree, the not knowing is much worse." She told him, thinking of more than one instance when the not knowing hurt worse than the truth. "Bad example but when my mom was sick... Not knowing was worse than trying to deal with the outcome. I'm not going to say that not knowing was worse than when she died...but when she was sick? Not knowing was worse than hearing the outcome. I have never dealt well with inaction...I need to know and deal with things rather than sit around and wait." She told him with a flick of her hair that had fallen in her face.
She reached up and grabbed his hand, giving it a squeeze before releasing it. "You just answered your own question then. It's not fair for Jade to be with someone who would choose someone else over her every time...and it's not fair for Willow not to know and it's not fair for you to settle for someone that isn't who your heart is crying out for." She advised. She understood how difficult it was and how scary it could be...but he owed it both to the girls that he loved and himself. She would not lie, she was rooting for him and Willow and always had been. "I'll tell you a secret. Willow couldn't wait to introduce you to us when you two first started talking...and the same with Tara...yet neither Xander nor I have met this new girl...doesn't that tell you something?"
She laughed and flicked her hair again, this time on purpose. "I have enough hair so feel free to...never mind...sounded a lot funnier in my head." She told him with a laugh. "As Willow's best friend I can honestly say that I think that she'll tell you that she loves you too. I was around when she was with you and I was around when she was with Tara. She loved Tara and I'll never say otherwise...but being with you made her just as happy. She came out of her shell when she was with you and as much as you won't wanna hear this you were her first. Girls never forget that...prime example here." She stated with a laugh.
Before she could say anything else one of the girls ran in and told her that there was a nest of vampires. "Duty calls." She told him sadly, sliding a stake in her back pocket. "If you need to talk later, I'm here." She stated with a wave before running out, onto her nightly duty.
