How long had it been? It had seemed as though it was yesterday since he had along with several other decided to carry the limb of a dismembered Glory to a location half way across the world. Setting out at different points and direction. Commonly, Angel was used to traveling alone.. there was something about the brief moment of solitude and peace that allowed him that moment to collect his thoughts. Due to the fact he often went about his life, dedicating it to those in need, did he rarely have time to stop and take a moment to himself. Perhaps he was being selfish now? dragging out his journey longer than what it should be? He imagined that the others had by now returned 'home' Whilst he still went a wall. To make matters worse in order to ensure that his movements were not being watched or tracked, he had dumped his phone and severed all contact.
None the less, although he did to an extent regret this cause of action, he knew it was ideally for the best possible purpose. Despite taking that extra time for himself, to sort though his thoughts and emotions.. he could not help the fact that his thoughts would always remain with Buffy, everything he saw and smelt caused his mind to resort back to Buffy. Buffy who was waiting for his return, and the Buffy who perhaps was not entirely to thrilled with his disappeaing act. He knew he would have a great deal of explaining to do upon his return, not only to Buffy but to everyone else.. particularly Kathy. Although his relationship with his sister was.. unstable, they had certainly come along way. Since the whole 'I killed you' Comment he had said to her, upon their first meeting. Whether or not she had truly forgiven him, left unspoken questions remaining. He certainly hadn't entirely forgiven himself for all of his past sins.. despite being reminded that it had not been him at the time.
Two and a half months later prior to his departure did Angel finally decide to return home. Although the break had been a well needed.. perhaps even deserved one at that; he knew that it had come at a price. Collected, and clam as he was, Angel was indeed ready to face the world once more, as if he could ever truly hide from it. With his plane touching ground on the familiar plains, under the cover of darkness. Angel took a moment to take in the surroundings of what he had now called home. Richmond VA, oh how he missed the scent of stale air, where the weather was all to predictable. With a bag in hand, Angel made his way towards his rented car, a vampire could never be at fault for traveling in style. Within moments he was underway coursing through the busy roads, and on route to the boarding house, where he had last left the others.
Dawn was fast approaching, as the skies grew lighter, and the roads remained silence. Angel drove past the few fields within the area to spot various mammals grazing and making most of the peace and quiet. It truly was a race against the sun by now. Finally pulling up around back of the boarding house, Angel grabbed his bag and pulled his leather jacket up and over his shoulder and head. Although the sun was not in full force, it certainly left a twinge against his skin. Clambering through the door, in a rather inelegant fashion, Angel shut the door behind him and was welcomed momentarily by silence. Curious, he thought about speaking out and announcing his arrival, but decided against it. Someone would know he was there, and he wondered just how long that would take.

----------------------- ----------------------- Connor needed the time to think about what he would say to his father...there was so much to say yet he didn't know where to start. The young adult had a horrible life but not all of it was bad. He had grown up in a different dimension which messed him up but he still had the memories of growing up with his other family. Part of him wondered what his life would have been like if Holtz hadn't came into it, if Connor was always there with Angel, would his life had been any different to the things he had witnessed and went through? He wasn't so sure. People always said that everything happened for a reason so maybe he should just go with that...even if it was unfair and he didn't get to grow up and be taught by his father. Part of him wished it was Angel to teach him about life, because it at the end of the day he truly was a great father, it was just hard saying it to him.
Connor had been staying at a motel for the time being and he would most likely stay there but he decided it was time to see his dad. He wasn't sure what he was expecting but he was kind of nervous, what if his father told him to go back home? Or just rejected him? He shouldn't be feeling this way considering his father did love him and all, it was just hard. He was going to have to adapt to a whole different environment basically, but his meaning of life was to fight and be there for whoever was with his father. He was destined to fight and there was no doubt about it, he couldn't just sit at home and pretend that he was some normal kid because well he wasn't. His parents knew where he was going and they didn't understand it but they accepted it as best as they could.
He only had one bag with him as he didn't trust the motel, he also didn't want to pack heavy just in case he was sent home. He doubted it though, he would just have to knock on that door and get invited in and then he was good from there. Of course no one had a clue he was coming which kind of excited him but but of course made him nervous. He walked the rest of the way to his house, it was a good thing he had a good sense of direction or else he would be entirely lost. He had heard that there were a bunch of slayers staying here in Richmond which meant that his father could be here, he wasn't too sure yet, he hoped he was or at least Faith, that'd be pretty great as well. He didn't want to talk to any strangers but he felt as if it would be better than getting through a conversation with Angel.
Connor finally arrived at the house and went up the steps and looked at the door. He sighed and put his hand through his hair not sure if he should knock on the door. Maybe he should just walk away and pretend none of this happened? No, he couldn't do that, the boy could kill demons and vampires but he couldn't knock on the door, talk about being weird. He took a deep breath and then knocked on the door as he went on his heel then rocked back and forth waiting for someone to open it. It was about the evening right now so someone had to be home right? He just waited patiently but felt like his heart was racing for some odd reason. He wanted someone to open the door already, it was time to rip that Band-Aid off as he was procrastinating on coming here.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - (We shall do a small time jump then, considering Angel's just returned after a 2 and a half month gap haha)
The fact that there was no one around, was certainly concerning... The house remained silent in which time Angle had slept for the duration of the day, hidden away in his basement. Or rather the basement he shared with his sister; it had also come to his attention that there were various other scents (namely one) That had been most prominent, aside from his sisters, Buffy's scent was strong.. it lined the walls and the sheets of his bed.. even his wardrobe. One that he was sure had been disturbed on several occasions. So, having woken up to discover that there still was no sign of movement or arrival from the others. Angel showered and dressed, in his usual white vest top and pants. Padding bare foot around the basement, he wondered over to the fridge that had so kindly been provided for him where he pulled out a blood bag. No sooner had he grabbed the back, when his vampuric ears picked up a distant knocking.
Finding it strange that someone would knock, Angel replaced the bag back into the fridge before padding up the stairs silently and with elegance. At first he hesitated, did he dare open it? for the house technically didn't belong to him, not to mention the fact that he had only returned himself. However, as soon as he entered the large foyer a scent hit him.. a scent he had not smelt for some time, and one he had in truth not expected to smell for quite some time. Connor. Hesitant no longer, Angel made his way towards the door although he could not fault the odd mixture of emotions that begun to build within the pit of his stomach. The last he had seen of his son they had been battling side by side.. only for Angel to then insist that he go away until the larger battler was over. Connor, had always been the stubborn type, or at least had been stubborn during the duration he had known him for.
None the less, as he opened the door, his eyes landed upon his son.. a strong boy of 18.. Angel could not help but feel some form of pity.. he had not been there for Connor when perhaps he needed him the most.. still hopefully there was time to fix that. "Connor. I Hadn't expected to see you so soon, come in.." He smiled, albeit some what awkwardly as he held the door open. Shutting it behind him, Angel paused as the silence settled.. "So...Can I get you anything? I don't know what they have...I have only returned myself.. " He half laughed as the awkward state continued. "How is.. everything?" he hedged, as the awkward tension around them became thicker with each passing moment. Where is a hell mouth when you want one... he thought idly to himself, he really did suck at this sort of thing... "You can put your bag down over there for now.. make yourself at home." He added gesturing to the corner of the room as he moved into the kitchen.. where was everything even kept? Had they moved everything around? It certainly looked cleaner than he last remembered. Searching through the cupboards he hunted for a glass.. would Connor like something to eat? Maybe some snack of sort.. did he offer? or should he just bring in some bits.. Why is this so dammed hard?" he thought, cursing his lack of parental skills. [/blockquote] - - - - - - - - - - -

----------------------- ----------------------- Connor wasn't sure if he should be here right now, what if his father didn't want to see him? Maybe the boy had the wrong address and should just go back to the motel or maybe go back home. His parents did miss him and it wasn't like Angel was going to be thrilled to see him or anything...there he was going again he was having trust issues and was scared to become close to his father. It had been so long since the last time they had seen each other and Angel had wanted Connor to have a normal life but how was he supposed to be normal when he knew his dad was a vampire and knew that he wasn't in the least bit normal. And he didn't want to try in blend into the crowd and pretend to be oblivious on what was out there.
He felt strange for being here, it was just weird actually going back into this world. Once you were in it there was no living a normal life. People were always drawn back to the supernatural, some were probably able to escape it while others not so much, Connor was one who had the chance to escape it yet chose to get back into it. He didn't know what it was but maybe it was just the fact that he wanted to take to his father again because in reality Angel was the only one that could understand him and his situation. Connor wasn't ready for this, he was about to leave but then...the door opened. And the person he wasn't ready to see had to open the door, he was hoping that it was going to be some stranger, but it was his father.
"Hi...Dad," he said using the word 'dad' it felt weird to say it but in a good way. Connor felt good to be here but it was just really hard, he wasn't sure if he could adapt quickly. Connor walked into the dark house and looked around with his eyes, it was big but it had to be for all the people staying there. "I'm fine, I had something before I came, where'd you go?" He asked a bit curious of what adventures his father had partaken in. "Do you think something's wrong?" He asked his father not sure if he wanted to answer his question, but he should since that was the way to get close or whatever. "I've been good just confused, my parents are a bit upset with me being here but they understand," he told him, "Actually, I am kinda hungry," he said wondering where this hunger was coming from.
Connor set his bag down. "I'm not staying for long I have a motel that's not far so I can visit," he said with a smile. He probably shouldn't have said that considering he knew his father and would want him to get out of that motel. "So...what's new with you?" He asked feeling really awkward right now. He sat on the counter top looking at his father. This was probably the most awkward conversation ever but at least he was home..if this was home he wasn't really sure. Connor was just really confused on what he wanted and he didn't know if he should stay in town or leave. This could have been a bad idea but he was actually really happy he was here which surprised him. It felt good to be back in the fight.

To hear Connor say dad.. was certainly odd.. and increasingly difficult to grasp, but at the same time.. Angel didn't' feel the slightest bit awkward.. it almost felt natural. Having offered Connor something to drink of sorts, and having been declined there was really nothing else Angel could do, however he could not help but look towards his son and notice he had lost some weight.. there was of course some concern involved.. but Angel knew the family Connor had been staying with. Angel had checked in on him.. indirectly of course. All the while knowing he was safe made everything that much easier to face the on coming battles. "No where of importance really.. I had to.. deposit a limb, so the usual sort of thing. Other than that.. I suppose i went on a small vacation." He commented with a brief smile. It felt good to have such a semi-normal conversation. Sure.. it wasn't ideal but it was a start and a step in what he hoped was the right direction. Maybe, just Maybe he could finally start working on spending time with Connor, and making up for all those years that he hadn't been there.
Do you think something's wrong? Connor questioned, he couldn't begrudge he's sons concern.. if anything Angel found it endearing. Connor was certainly growing into a fine, remarkable young man.. that certainly made Angel proud.. and perhaps his other father proud too. When Connor commented about his parents being upset to a degree, Angel nodded. "I can see why though.. letting you loose in the world.. " he commented as he too attempted to make a small joke out of it.. although seemingly failed. "I mean.. It's hard for any parent to accept that their child has grown up.. and decided to move on." Angel stated.. he was finding it increasingly hard to play the 'cool dad' that most kids wanted, the one that was perhaps so laid back he was almost horizontal. "Still.. it's good to see things are going well for you.." He added somewhat awkwardly on the end.
When Connor mentioned he was hungry Angel smiled. "I wasn't going to say anything.. but you certainly could use some meat on those bones." he half chuckled, before adding. "Well... lets see.. " He begun as he started to look through various cupboards and the fridge and freezer. "What do you fancy? Something big.. or a snack?" He questioned, if there was one thing that there was never a shortage of it was food. After all there were usually a lot of mouths to feed on a daily basis. A motel? This peaked Angel's interest.. of all the places he could of stayed? He didn't like that fact at all, to think Connor was staying in a motel.. how long had he been there he wondered? Still, for the moment Angel neglected to say anything, after all, perhaps Connor preferred the freedom? "With me? Nothing much.. which is a pleasant surprise I have actually spent the say doing nothing.. which is extreamly rare." He chuckled, it was indeed strange.. having to do nothing.. everything was being taken care of at Angel Investigations, not to mention the fact that they would somehow get hold of him, should there be a problem.
"What about yourself? It's been some time since we last spoke.. saying that.. the last time I did see you, we where kicking some serious butt." he commented, as he attempted to incorporate the local slang of today. Although he knew he probably had a lot to work on... None the less, he pulled out a few bowls, only to top them up with peanuts and crisps before setting them on the top. At that point, Angel pulled out a beer.. one thing that hadn't changed was the usual hiding spaces. Cracking the two bottles open he handed one to Connor, it wasn't blood.. but a beer wasn't too bad.

----------------------- ----------------------- "O...kay," he said with a chuckle and a shake of his head, only his father would act as if it was normal to hide some limb. "Only you would say the usual and act as if it was normal," Connor was feeling a bit better but it was still weird being here. But talking to his father...it just felt good to, it was hard to explain. Connor just felt good about it all, he felt as if now would be different. Before he was unstable and then his memory was erased so he didn't remember Angel but when he did remember he was sent off so Angel could defeat his enemies as he was stronger when Connor wasn't around, hopefully the circumstances have changed though because Connor wanted to stay.
Connor just looked at his father, was he okay? "I guess, but I moved out long before I came here, I was going to Yale," he told Angel with a smile. He wasn't sure what his dad would think about that considering Connor had left Yale just to fight...he basically threw a good future way of the normal life just to be here but he was going to go to the community college so it wouldn't be that bad. "But when I told them I was leaving school to see you they weren't the happiest," he said with a slight frown. He loved his parents but it was his decision not theirs, and it wasn't like he just up and left, he finished his year so his parents' money didn't go to waste.
Connor looked at himself, he didn't think he was that skinny then again Connor didn't really work out and he ate a lot but his food just didn't really put any fat on him. "I guess," he said with a shrug as he watched Angel go through everything in the kitchen. He swung his legs a bit wondering what the house looked like, he kind of wanted to explore it. "A snack would be fine," he said with a smile. He would be fine with chips or anything really, he was just hungry and wanted something now. "What about...your girlfriend or ex?" He asked curiously. "You know...Buffy," he remembered his father talking about her a couple years ago but he didn't remember much.
"Dad, no one says 'kicking butt' please never say that again," he said with a chuckle. He had a feeling Angel was going to be one of those parents who embarrassed their kids then again Angel didn't have any besides Connor. "I had a girlfriend but we broke up since I came here," he said with a frown. He loved her but he wasn't going to put her in risk and it was long distance as well and he didn't want her to go through that and she didn't want to through that also, so it was a mutual break up. "But other than that nothing, just the motel and I made a new friend actually, she's cool," he said with a grin remembering Brooke. He knew that she had a boyfriend so he wasn't going to make any advances besides the fight was more important than getting involved with someone he barely knew, he had to stay focused right now.

Only you would say the usual and act as if it was normal, Conner stated to which Angel smiled "Naturally, I don't think I have ever had a .. normal day without something supernatural popping up.." He added as an after thought, it was true. When had been the last time he had actually had a 'normal' day? As far as he could recall there had never been one.. there was always something to decapitate.. or disembody.. not to mention the fact he wasn't entirely normal.. due to the entire split personality he house, along with the point of technically being dead.. Having handed Conner the beer, Angel took a sip of his own, well.. the change in beer had not altered during his disappearance. To hear that Conner had moved out some while ago, certainly surprised him.. so Connor had been within the area for some time? Yet had not visited him before? To an extent.. Angel could see why, the tension between them both remained, and the bond they had once had, had taken severe damage and it would be some time before that was fixed.
Then when Conner stated, about the fact he had originally had plans to go to Yale, Angel didn't know what to think.. Connor was off age now, and was plenty old enough to make his own decisions.. at the same time Angel had always wanted what was best for his son. That had included the memory wiping and having him be sent away. Yet.. still no matter what he did, Connor always did what he wanted to do. At the next comment, Angel chuckled somewhat awkwardly. "I can imagine...They were good people.. they only want what is best for you.. as any parent would." He added lightly raising up his bottle towards Connor's in a mild half toast before he took another sip. When the bowls had been set out, filled with peanuts and chips, Connor then mentioned Buffy.. Truth was, Angel didn't actually know where they stood, he had left with the prospect of returning to his girlfriend, yet he had been somewhat way laid, in which he hadn't spoken to her for a few months. By now, anything was possible.
None the less Angel chuckled.. had someone told him that they would be discussing girls, Angel would of openly laughed in their faces, this was perhaps as ironic as it got. "Well.. Girlfriend.. at least I presume we are still together.. I was however late in my return.. and I didn't contact her. I also have yet to see her.. how that reunion goes.. your guess is as good as mine." He said with a small sigh, as he took another swig of beer. Now he remembered why he rarely drunk.. it never tasted appealing. Dad, no one says 'kicking butt' please never say that again, Connor corrected to which Angel smiled "I see.. maybe I should say something else?" he mused, he hadn't a clue what people said these days, he always seemed so behind.. none the less you couldn't fault him for trying? To Angel's surprise Connor continued along the conversation of girls.. in which he mentioned having a girlfriend. This of course peaked Angel's interest somewhat.. He knew of course what had happened with Cordelia..which reminded him, he really should speak to Connor about that officially some time.
"Oh? What is she like? and how long have you been together?" he mused, and decided to play the awkward yet interested dad. Before he then, remembered.. "You haven't... done anything with her have you? I mean.. it's fine if you have... Not that I have a problem with it of course.. your old enough after all.. but I mean.. if you have.. you have been.. cautious?" he hedged, why was he bringing this up? He couldn't help being the concerned father figure.. after all.. he wasn't quite ready to become a grandfather just yet..

----------------------- ----------------------- "It's always gonna be a normal at the office huh?" He said with a bit of a chuckle. It actually felt good to talk to his dad and the two were getting along. Connor used to think that there would be no saving their relationship as it was so broken and where they stood last time they were okay with each other but when Angel and him had said goodbye Connor had thought that would be the last time he would see his father. He had thought that after that day he would be able to go back to his normal life, graduate school and live a happy life married to whoever he got married to but he was drawn back into the supernatural and he was okay with that.
he two had toasted and Connor took a sip of the drink his father had given him. When he finished his sip he spoke, "I get that, but having a normal life isn't for me anymore," he told his father looking at his bottle. "I'm not even sure if I can see them, maybe one day but for now I'm just gonna focus on the battle," he said confident in the choices he had made, he knew it was a good choice to be here and hopefully his father would see it his way. "The mission is what matters," he said...he wasn't sure where he got it from but for some reason he felt like those words were very familiar, he didn't pay any mind to it as he saw his father set out food.
"No offense but you kinda seem bad at relationships," how could his dad not contact her that was the number one rule to always contact your girlfriend if you're away then again that was in high school maybe now was different, "You've been around for how long and you don't know how to pick up a phone," he chuckled a bit. It seemed as if Angel was literally stuck in the olden days, maybe all that time in the 1900s he just didn't know how to keep up with the new technology. He put his hand in the chip bowl and grabbed a handful stuffing some into his mouth. Once he was done with eating some chips he went for the peanuts which tasted pretty good probably because he hadn't really had something healthy since he had been here.
"No...it's okay," he said not wanting to hear any other embarrassing words, he didn't want to hear him use any slang either, now that would just be...something else. "She's...nice? And we were together for six months but then broke up because I decided to come here," he said not really wanting to talk about it. He wasn't upset or anything, but he was kind of over it now. Then he had to pull out the card if he was being safe. "Dad...," he said feeling really uncomfortable right now, he was not gonna have this talk right now. "She was waiting until marriage okay, so no more talking about...that please," he looked down at the ground, why the hell did he have to bring up sex? That could be a talk for when he did have a girlfriend but for now could they just talk about demons or something? Something different from this topic.

It's always gonna be a normal at the office huh? Connor had mused, to which Angel smile and sipped his drink.. so far so good. Nothing had gone wrong and everything so far seemed to be heading in the upwards direction. "Of course.. what would my life be without a little bit of decapitation every now and then.. coupled with the.. killing, fighting...killing." He mused, never would he of thought that such a conversation was possible to have with his son, to think that Angel had tried his hardest in order to keep Connor safe, despite his efforts Connor still managed to find his way back into the realm of the supernatural, further more.. Angel had finally accepted that no matter what he did, Connor was Connor and he would always be set in his ways. With that, the best thing Angel could do now was to keep an eye on, and advise him whenever possible. Of course, it made his job harder having to worry about yet more things.. but Connor was his son, and they always did say like father like son.
At any rate, When Connor continued on about relationships, Angel fated a shocked look, he wasn't... that bad. Yes he may of had.. one or two.. well okay perhaps a large amount of woman in his past, it didn't mean he was bad at relationships. Was he? as he pondered this Connor continued. You've been around for how long and you don't know how to pick up a phone It wasn't that he didn't know how to use them, because he did, he just didn't like them. Straightening himself none the less, Angel raise a defensive hand, "I'll have you know, that I know exactly how to use a mobile, I just don't like using them, there is a difference. I mean.. why would you want to phone someone when you can just as well talk to them? What happened to the good old letters? or messengers.. they were fun, besides.. using messengers could put a lot of people back in work you know.." He commented, only to take another sip of his beer after his rant was over.
Remaining on the conversation that had occurred moments ago involving the 'talk', Angel shifted uncomfortably for a moment, so when Connor mentioned that this girl was waiting until after marriage, Angel let out a breath of relief "Well.. good, okay then.. " He said taking another sip as an awkward silence settled for a moment.wishing that he never brought it up in the first place. After a long, seemingly agonizing moment, Angel cleared his throat. "Well, now that.. that's out of the way.. you mentioned earlier about helping with this battle?" Angel begun, before he then prepared himself for what was to follow. Lowering his bottle, Angel spoke.. he doubted it would make much difference, when did Connor ever listen to him? at any rate. "Connor, the battle is not your concern.... we are dealing with it. You should be more concerned about your education, is there not something you wish to be? Do you not have at least one goal as to what you want to do with your life? Your life is not to be wasted fighting, there is still so much you have to see and do, and discover." Angel stated firmly, it was true.. why should Connor through his life away? He had a future with so many possibilities, why would he wish to waste that and fight? Despite his age, Connor was still (in the eyes of a vampire) a child, a child that still had so much more to live for and experience.
However, Angel knew that no matter what he said or did, it would not change Connor's mind, no matter how much Angel wished that he would. "At any rate.. I doubt you will listen to me.. so, I have said my piece and I shall leave it at that.. just promise me that you will think about it?" Angel questioned as he looked to his son. "Promise?" His words at this point where stern, and fatherly all the same. He merely only wanted what was best.. he had always wanted what was best for him.

----------------------- ----------------------- Connor just chuckled at his father. Welcome to the world where strange is the new normal, nothing was ever normal when he was around Angel. He was glad to be different though, he wouldn't lie, being stronger than a regular human did have certain advantages. The boy didn't have many fights at school but if someone was being bullied or something like that he'd help out, he thought it was unfair for those to be bullied just because they were different and some of the bullies didn't like how Connor would defend so they fought back but he of course won which was one of the reasons why he was likable but high school was over and he was in the adult world now.
"Messengers?" He asked curiously, what the hell was a messenger? Yeah, his dad was living in the olden times which was pretty embarrassing. "Dad...those just don't exist anymore what is a messenger anyway? Like a bird carrying the letter...or?" Yeah, the boy was confused. For someone who had an interest in history he sure wasn't smart about it. He had no clue what that was. The only history Connor was interested in was of course his father's wanting to know how he had lived when he was just a regular human, he would have to ask his dad one day as the only thing Connor knew was that the men were all noble, to put to better terms snobs.
God, this conversation turned good to well, awkward and Connor just wasn't having it, this was just too weird to talk about. The boy was not sexually active, the only sex he had done was with Cordelia and he had gotten her pregnant that was something he wasn't going to forget. He was of course going to take care of the baby if it was a regular baby but of course it had to turn out to be some goddess or whatever she was. She seemed to be some demon or something. He remembered when he knew what she really looked like and he still followed her because he wanted a sense of belonging, he was just glad to finally find where here belonged now.
"Yes, I wanna help," he said with a nod. Connor then groaned and said, "Dad," he really didn't want to hear it. He had made his decision and Angel would just have to be fine with it. "I've discovered a lot and I know what my future holds and that's to fight beside you," he said hoping his dad would understand. Angel was always about the fight so why couldn't his son join along? It would only be fair. "I already have everything figured out okay, I'm gonna go to the community college in this town and then fight with you," he said hoping that maybe his dad would see it his way. "See, I can balance," he said with a smile but then Angel wanted him to promise to think about his decisions. "Fine, I promise," he said rolling his eyes at his father while he took a sip of his drink. "So, when do I get to meet the love of your life?" He said with a grin wanting to switch topics.

When Connor questioned as to what a messenger was, Angel arched his eyebrow. Surely he must know what one was? "You mean to tell me you have no idea?" Angel questioned, after Connor had finished speaking, it was confirmed Connor really had no idea? "No.. not a bird.. well I mean I suppose you could revert back to carrier pigeons.." He stated, getting somewhat sidetracked before he corrected himself "I'm on about, the human, men that go back and from places delivering messages.. then again I suppose that wouldn't work to well, half of Europe had barely been claimed then..It would prove a very costly and time consuming job." Angel commented, as if concluding his own idea. Clearly it would not work, scrapping such an idea Angel added. "I guess, I shall just have to stick with the hole phone idea." He said with a mild roll of his eyes, he never did understand the fascination with the device that so many kids had. Then again, he was somewhat stuck in his old ways.
After the somewhat advice he had given Connor, the reply he got was one that he expected, Connor was indeed set in his ways and that made anything else a lot more difficult to get through to him. I've discovered a lot and I know what my future holds and that's to fight beside you, Connor commented, as Angel glanced to him he could see the determination in his Son's eyes, see how he was not about to let this argument go, he had made up his mind and there was nothing any of them could do. With a sad smile, and a light chuckle Angle headed over to Connor and somewhat playfully in a purposefully annoying gesture ruffled his son's hair. "Alright kid, but I warn you. Your in for a rough ride" He chuckled before returning back to his place against the breakfast bar, only to take a sip of his drink. On the plus side.. at least Connor seemed to consider his idea, and had sketched out some form of plan for himself.
He was just about to take another sip of his beer when Connor asked, So, when do I get to meet the love of your life? In that moment Angel almost choked, only to gracefully collect himself. If there was ever a change of subject he had ever seen in his life, this certainly topped all of them. Connor wanted to meet Buffy? At the very idea of such a meeting.. Angel didn't know how to react, had he even told Buffy about Connor? He couldn't remember..everything had indeed happened quickly in the last few years. Truth be told.. Angel to begin with hadn't even thought that he'd see Connor ever again.. their relationship wasn't exactly parental.. in fact, Angel had missed a large portion of Connor's life.. but that didn't mean he was going to leave it at that. No, he wanted to make amends and spend some time with his son.. to make up for all the time that had been stolen from him.
"Well.. I'm not too sure, I haven't even seen her yet since my return.. let me just get one thing out of the way at a time." He mused, somewhat awkwardly. He hadn't in truth expected to see Buffy again too, having found out her death, only to discover that she had come back to life. It was a strange.. world they lived in, nothing was ever easy or predictable; he didn't know what he would of preferred. Lowering his drink he continued, hedging his reply "Well, lets just see first I need to speak with her before anything.. then we shall go from there." he finished.. a meeting he in truth was in no hurry of arranging. Still he knew that such a meeting was inevitable in the long run. He just hoped things went well..

----------------------- ----------------------- "Yeah...the phone's a lot better," his dad was not okay right now. Did he really think a messenger was better than a phone? With a phone you were guaranteed to get an answer right away while a messenger had to go all the way to the person's house. Hearing Angel somewhat talk about the olden days made Connor happy that he lived in the present. Even living in Quor-Toth he knew the hardships so being in this time with technology was a lot better and easier. Connor didn't hate Holtz for bringing him in a world that basically messed him up but he did hate him for making him not have a normal childhood, one that he could have had with Angel and the others even though he'd be like five right now and just heading off to school or in his second year of it but still it would have been worth it rather than having to grow up so fast.
"Hey, a survived a demon dimension, I think i can handle this world," he said with a chuckle. He wondered what would be out there, it didn't seem too bad considering the sky had never gotten dark during the day or anything like that. Life seemed to be good. Maybe Connor had thought life was good because of the fact he wasn't involved in the supernatural but now he was and maybe there would be some big battle, he wasn't sure. He just didn't believe that the years would go by peacefully, they had to be some big evil thing planning destruction, that was what usually happened. If they could all live their lives happily that'd be great because it'd mean no deaths and just patrolling.
Connor was just intrigued with Angel's life, he wondered what his father had been up to the past year and he was hoping that he was with Buffy as Connor wanted to meet the mysterious slayer. He wondered if she was like Faith but then erased that thought out of his mind because if she was then Angel wouldn't have gone for her. It seemed like she was a good leader who was ambitious, he could see his father liking that type of girl. The boy was curious and he was hoping that she would walk in at any moment but probably not as the girl was probably busy, the house was really empty for some odd reason.
"Fine," he said with a sigh. "But I gotta meet her soon," he said with a smile. He finally went off of the counter to stand up as he felt uncomfortable sitting for some reason. "So I guess the gang isn't here, I wish Cordy was alive," he said feeling a bit sad. "I miss her in a family way don't worry," he said laughing a bit. He knew his father never liked that relationship but Connor was messed up and now that he was balanced he saw Cordy as an aunt a hot one of course. "I guess I'll just have to make friends in this house won't I?" He asked his dad. He didn't know if he could but he'd try as he did want to make this work for his dad and himself. He just wished that he had more people he knew rather than just one person, but at least it gave him a chance to become closer.

Angel smiled, the phone it was then.. no matter how much he hated the object.. with far to many buttons, half of which he had no idea what they did. Suddenly he chuckled, what was with him? he had honestly just suggested a messenger? in the olden days it would of worked perfectly, but now.. with so many more countries explored, and claimed. It would make such things ten times harder. When Connor mentioned about surviving a demon dimension, Angel's smile faded somewhat. Never.. in all of his existence would he forgive himself for that, for half allowing Connor to be taken away from him, as if he had had a choice in the matter. At any rate, Angel felt somewhat responsible for his son's misguided upbringing; for he would never forgive the fact that he had not been there for his son.. had not watched him grow up, or taught him the many things a father would teach their child. With a somewhat brief sad smile, Angel nodded only to take a small swig of his beer. "Truthfully, I don't know what world is the hardest." he commented idly.
When the topic changed to Buffy, and Connor replied with a simple fine Angel smiled.. in time, Buffy would eventually have to meet Connor, that he knew would happen.. although when that time came he didn't know, nor did he know on how Buffy would even react to such news. Still.. hopefully he had some time to use before dropping the bombshell. "You will no doubt I'm sure.. " Angel confirmed, just what was he getting himself in for? So I guess the gang isn't here, I wish Cordy was alive, came Connor's sudden comment, Angel sighed softly and straightened himself, from what he had gathered.. Faith was around, as was Willow.. he had yet to speak to Buffy, to know the latest update. When Connor corrected himself swiftly, Angel chuckled lowly but nodded none the less. "Don't worry, I miss her too.. but.. she certainly wouldn't want us.. dwelling on the past. " He admitted, for in truth he did miss her, they had spent a great many years together, putting together Angel investigations, and all to have her.. disappear as such soon after. It had all happened far too suddenly for his liking, but there wasn't a day that went by when he didn't think about Cordelia. There was still a great deal of unfinished business between them.
I guess I'll just have to make friends in this house won't I? Connor continued, and Angel smile calmly. "Yes, but I'm sure your make friends quickly.. this place is usually filled with people, I presume Buffy is out with most of them patrolling or training." he announced with a soft shrug.. when Buffy returned home.. then he didn't know what he would do.. but he knew he had to think of something. "Okay.. so.. say you haven't contacted a particular someone for two months.. that someone being.. special to you.. and having only recently returned.. what would you do?" He questioned towards his son. Sure Angelus would know exactly what to do.. none of which was pleasant or polite for that matter; still it was worth asking at any rate.

----------------------- ----------------------- "Well, aren't you happier in this world?" He asked his father curiously. He wondered if his father truly liked the present rather than the past because well in the past he was Angelus a vampire who shouldn't be reckoned with. Someone dangerous and did anything just to hurt someone, Angel wasn't in control and when he was in control he had a hard time adapting. Well, that's all Connor knew he didn't know anything else about his father but he was curious. What had happened when he got his soul? Connor just knew that he had felt guilty but when did Buffy come in the picture? Because that was when his father was truly happy. If the only way to lose his soul was being happy then right now...his father must be depressed or something.
Connor was hoping to meet Buffy soon as he thought it would be cool just to see the type of girl he liked. He knew that he liked Cordelia so was Buffy kind of like her? Connor didn't think so it just didn't make sense for his father to be truly in love with someone who acted like Cordelia, she had to be super different or at least a little bit. Connor wasn't bashing down on Cordelia or anything but he just felt like he knew his father...sort of and Cordelia just didn't seem his type even if the two did have a thing back then well they didn't he had a thing with the goddess or whatever she was. Maybe if he was stable he wouldn't have done the things he did then.
"Yeah...I know," he said with a sigh as he combed his hair with his hand. It just sucked not having her here with them as Connor felt weird. He didn't feel weird about his dad he just felt weird with being in a different town and knowing one person. He wondered where the others were though even though he didn't talk to them and he was pretty sure that they didn't really like him for the stunts that he had pulled when he didn't have his other family but maybe things have changed. He just wished that the things that he had done could be undone like when he sunk Angel to the bottom of the ocean, that was probably one of his biggest regrets.
"No wonder it's quiet," he said wondering why there was literally no one in this house whatsoever. "I have your genes though so it may be hard," he said with a chuckle. He wondered who in this house he would make friends with and if he didn't then at least he would be going to Richmond University so he could make friends there possibly depending if he could keep his other life a secret. He hadn't really decided yet. "I'd apologize right away I mean you could have phoned them," he told his father. He was surprised he wanted advice. "And you should be trying to find them right now if anything so you don't waste time and you should give them an explanation of why you didn't contact them," he told the older man. "That's all I've got, hope it helped," he said hoping his advice would help his dad. "This wouldn't be about Buffy would it?" He asked knowing the answer already.

Well, aren't you happier in this world? It truly was a difficult question? was he? to an extent he was.. after all he had met Buffy, Cordelia.. as well as the many other beings he now called friends. This generation certainly had some perks, but it also had some bad ones. "Maybe.. It's been interesting watching the world change, watching as technology advances.. wars pass. Although I admit.. humans are so dependent upon technology it's ridiculous. What would they do if there was none? I for one think they will naturally become extinct... and when did they get so stupid? What person, hears a noise and then goes to investigate?" he commented as he finished of his small rant, he was pretty sure most of the human population were suicidal. Shaking his head, Angel decided to leave that subject alone for the moment, as he took another sip of beer.
When Connor commented about the gene part, and the fact that making friends would prove somewhat difficult, Angel faked a hurt expression. "Hey, I'm not that bad." He defended himself as he delivered a light punch to Connor's arm. Hopefully it wouldn't hurt him, then again it really shouldn't given the fact Connor had some.. bizarre gene complex. One that Angel still had trouble working out at times. With a small grin of sorts, Angel sipped his drink again before he then brought up the dreaded question.. and therefore the subtle need for guidance, which he would never admit of course. Who took guidance off of their son for starters? "I could of phoned them yes.. but what if I was in a difficult situation and I risked a lot if i was to call them? Surely it's a plausible excuse not to ring?" He questioned once again and awaited the reply.
Perhaps he should of been trying to find them.. well her more specifically, yet he wouldn't know what to say, or where to begin. Not only that he had only gotten back a mere several hours ago before Connor turned up. When he mentioned Buffy.. Angel shifted.. "Hypothetically, we are talking here." he corrected.. "Hypothetically, should I of rung them if there was danger involved.. further more.. hypothetically-" he added quickly, "-should.. she or he that is, be busy doing other things, it probably wouldn't be best to get involved in that.. at least until he or she mind you, returned correct?" he questioned with hopeful look, he hoped Buffy wouldn't be too.. annoyed at his disappearance. He also hoped she hadn't been too worried.. after all they were only just official essentially after his other previous voyage. He hoped however that she hadn't worried to much about him, it was the least she needed to worry about, and this he had told her time and time again. Finishing off his drink, Angel straightened and looked to Conner, before a flash of hesitance crossed his expression "You know, you are more than welcome to stay here I'd imagine. I'm sure there are still plenty of rooms available? it is also closer to your university.. It would also save you some money..and.. I doubt Buffy would mind.. Although.. saying that.. I have to first.. tell her about you." he chuckled, a small half laugh. That was the big thing that truly remained between he and Buffy.. they had agreed that there was to be no secrets.. and that they would be honest and open with one another.. first this first.. was to tell Buffy about Connor..
