"Yeah, this is true. You should meet her, she would like you too." Charlie told her with a smile. She has no doubt in her mind that her father and mother would love Satsu and treat her like another daughter. But that wasn't gonna happen. Charlie made a mental note to check in on her mother and inform her of Satsu and her love, though her mother probably wouldn't hear it anyways. She shrugged. "It happened when I was to young to even entertain the idea about being with someone." Charlie told her, she knew instantly that she liked girls, but at the age of 6 no one knows anything about what they want.
She thought for a moment. "He would approve though. Him and mother were always really open about that stuff and would approve of any choices I make. As long as I was happy, they wouldn't care who I am with as long as that person is loving and caring and doesn't try to beat me or something." Charlie told her truthfully. That was always the thought process in her mind, that they would love and accept her regardless of what she wanted in a partner. "Did your parent's accept what you wanted?" She asked softly, hoping she didn't mind.
Charlie nodded at her comments, glad that she agreed with her on something happening to drive her and Satsu apart and thanking her in a way for saying that she was glad she thought that Lenore was a good listener and that it didn't happen very often. She shrugged. "Well I think so, do you just not let a lot of people rant about their feelings or something" Charlie asked with a smile. Charlie liked talking to her and that was the main point. Then things took a bad turn, she was so scared at finding out what Lenore was, she thought honestly that Lenore was gonna try to kill her.
She so wished she was better at fighting, but she sucked at it and even Satsu is having a hard time training her. She also wished Satsu was here right now to save her again. "Look its one thing for your kind to try and kill regular people, but getting to know them and making an emotion connection is just sick." Charlie told her, her voice clear with fear, she didn't mean to be offensive but she couldn't help it. She then heard the girl say that she doesn't feed on humans, only animals. For some reason Charlie sort of believed her as she said this.
She said it in a way that sounded like pleading, like she didn't want to hurt Charlie and wanted her to know that. Charlie didn't know what to believe. She trusted her girlfriend who told her not to trust any vampire, and her only run in with one was clear evidence that Satsu was right. However, talking with Lenore like that and getting to know her. Not even a crazy psychopath would be that kind only to attempt to kill her shortly after, would they? Charlie looked at her, still fear in her eyes and pulled herself off the ground.
"I... you promise?" Charlie asked. What else could she get but Lenore's word?

----------------------- ----------------------- Lenore smiled as Charlie agreed with her and then stated that her parents would love to meet her. "Maybe we should set something up," she suggested. Charlie seemed nice enough which most likely meant that her family would be nice---if her words were anything to go by---and she wanted to meet other people anyways so this was a win-win for her. But what if suggesting setting up a meeting seemed weird to her? I hope I didn't scare her or make her think I'm weird, she thought to herself. She didn't want her thinking that but for all she knew her people skills were rusty. And to be perfectly honest, she wouldn't e surprised if they were. She then nodded in understanding as the other woman explained that the discovery had happened when she was too young for entertaining the idea of being with someone. "I see," she said. It made sense she supposed. When one was young, they didn't really think of dating someone even if they were attracted to them in their own child-like way. Lenore smiled as Charlie said that her parents were open to it and would approve as long as she was happy, and wouldn't care who she was with as long as they treated her right. "That's good. And pretty rare from what I understand," she said. But she was glad that Charlie's parents were two of the good ones and that Charlie hadn't had to worry about hiding anything from them. At the question of whether or not her parents had accepted her lifestyle, she shook her head. "No. I actually never told them," she confessed. But she wouldn't be surprised if it had been suspected as she had never shown any interest in her male suitors, though she had still been friendly with some of the local women. But of course, she hadn't admitted to anything as she most likely would've been put through some heinous torture. Then the other woman was asking if she didn't usually let people rant about their problems and the vampire shook her head. "I just...I don't go out much. I"m a little shy," she said. Okay, a lie. But it wasn't like she could tell her the truth. She'd either think she was nuts or would be frightened of her and she didn't want her to be frightened of her. And there went her hope of not frightening the girl. She could smell the fear on her as she said that it was one thing to outright kill a person but to act like their friend and get to know their life story before doing so was just sick. "I'm not going to hurt you. Like I said, I don't feed on people. i drink animal blood," she said again. Please believe that I truly mean you no harm, she thought to herself. She wasn't sure if she was merely pleading in her head or if it was a prayer, but wouldn't that be ironic? A vampire praying. Well apparently, someone was listening to whatever her thought had been for the other woman didn't try to run off, but merely asked if she promised that she didn't feed from anyone. "Yes, I promise. You're safe with me," she answered. -----------------------

"Sure, like I said, we should double date sometime." Charlie offered, they were all lesbians and they all seemed like really smart, put together, down to earth girls. So hopefully it would be fun, they can gossip, talk about each other, why they like their current partner, and all that stuff. Charlie didn't find it weird at all, they were hitting it off and it was nice to meet a friend unexpectedly like this. So it seemed like a great idea to Charlie to have them all hang together. She shrugged at the girl saying that she saw what she meant.
"I mean I liked girls in my class, but I was six, so what was I suppose to do?" Charlie asked her with a frown. Even if she did tell one of them that she liked them like that, she doubted it would of lead to anything and they surely wouldn't be together today anyways. "Besides, I think my parent's wouldn't of cared. They always told me to be myself and that they would love me." Charlie told her,she just wanted to drop this subject now as she was starting to get a little upset talking about it but she didn't let it show on her face.
"Yeah, I really miss them." Charlie said. "My mom reading me the Hobbit every night before bed. My dad spraying me with the hose as he washed his car." Charlie said her voice breaking a little bit. "That sucks, why? Would they have disowned you or something?" Charlie asked when she admitted she didn't tell her parents. Charlie nodded however at her response to her last question. "Yeah, I am shy sometimes too. I have been trying to be more open ever sense I met Satsu, though. She wants me to travel the world with her." Charlie said.
Maybe it was going so fast, but Charlie really wanted to see the world with her girl, it just felt right. Charlie wanted to run or fight or something but her body wouldn't let her, to frozen in fear and not knowing what to do in the first place. "Isn't that what a killer would want me to think?" Charlie asked when she said again that she didn't want to hurt her. That is exactly what they say to the victim right before they kill them. Well they were in a wide open area, there were other people around and Charlie felt some of them staring, so surely she wouldn't kill her here and now anyways.
"I just, I'm so confused. The only other... vampire I met tried to make me their midnight snack." Charlie told her, making sure to say the word vampire as quietly as possible. "Then my girlfriend tells me that all vampires are bad and can't be trusted, and then I meet you. And you are so nice and kind and... I'm just..." Charlie said, her rant was quickly quieted when she was at a loss of words. "I really don't want to be killed before I get the chance to see the world with the girl of my dreams." Charlie said finally, a few teams forming on her eyes. "So I hope you are what you say you are." She added trying to relax and stop from crying a bit.

----------------------- ----------------------- Lenore nodded again as Charlie repeated her desire for the four of them to double date sometime. "Yes, I completely agree," she stated. It'd be fun to go out with another couple and make some new friends. But of course, she'd have to talk to Willow first. After all, she didn't want to tie the girl down to something that she didn't want to do. That wasn't what a relationship was about. A relationship was built on communication and trust, not making other people's decisions for them. So when the opportunity presented itself, she'd talk to Willow and ask her how she'd feel about going out on a double date. Then the other woman said that she had liked other girls in her class but asked what she was supposed to do since she had been six. "Yeah, I see your point," she commented. "Though at that age, parents would probably just think you meant you liked them as a friend," she continued. Of course, she could be wrong as it had been a long time she had been that age. A real long time. At Charlie's comment that her parents wouldn't have cared as they had always told her to be herself and that they longed her, Lenore smiled. "That's good to know. At least you didn't have to worry about coming out," she stated. From the way Charlie was talking about her parents, recalling being read to and being sprayed with a hose in jest, it was obvious that she missed them. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bring up painful memories," she murmured. Okay, moving on would probably be for the best. At Charlie's question of why she hadn't told her parents about her preferences and wondering if they would've disowned her, Lenore nodded. "Yes, they would've," she replied. Well, it was more like she would've been burned or labeled as possessed or something, but she wasn't about to get into that. It would just told her that she wasn't exactly normal and would've freaked her out. Hearing Charlie say that she was shy as well, though she was trying to be more outgoing since meeting Satsu who wanted to travel the world with her, Lenore smiled. "It's hard, though, huh? I mean, you just want to hide away, but at the same time, you crave social interaction," she stated. Hopefully that didn't sound too weird. Lenore had tried to reassure Charlie that she didn't want to hurt her, but it wasn't going very as she pointed out that a killer would want her to think that they weren't going to hurt her. Well, she's not wrong there, she thought to herself. But she couldn't say that out loud as it wouldn't be conducive to her trying to calm the human down. "I didn't mean to scare you. If it'd make you feel better, you can call Satsu and have her call Willow and ask about me," she said. Hopefully that would help her to see that she meant no harm. After all, a killer wouldn't offer to let her call her girlfriend to call someone they both know---even if it was just vaguely---to vouch for them. Lenore stayed silent and listened as Charlie said that she was confused as the only other vampire she had met had tried to make a meal out of her and then her girlfriend had told her that all vampires were evil. "A lot of people think that way," she said and to be honest, who could blame them? It was in a vampire's nature to kill and a lot of vampires relished in the hunt. So of course she would be confused, which the other woman confirmed, mentioning how that they had met and she had been nice and kind, adding that she didn't want to be killed before seeing the world with Satsu. "I can't even imagine what this must feel like for you," she murmured. And she really couldn't. She wasn't on the side of this conversation that Charlie was. When she confessed that she hoped that she was who she claimed to be, the vampire nodded. "I am," she assured. Though to be honest, she wasn't sure what else she could do to prove it. -----------------------

"Yeah, I mean, at 6 you hardly know what you want anyways." Charlie told Lenore with a shrug. Her parent's probably would just think that she meant that she liked the girl as a friend. She wondered whatever happened to little Susie Carmichael, her 6 year old crush. She probably grew up, met a nice guy, probably a doctor or something, and had a pile of kids by now. Charlie frowned at the thought. That was the one thing her and Satsu couldn't have, kids. It made her sad to think about it, maybe someday they will adopt or something, if it were to get that serious that was.
"I kind of wish I had the chance. That way I can know for sure." Charlie said with a smile. She could only guess, but she was just certain of it. She wondered why Lenore never asked about her mother. She only said that her father died in a car accident, she didn't say her mother died. She guessed that Lenore figured she lost both of them, in a way she did. But she was glad that Lenore didn't ask, as Charlie wouldn't be able to tell her the truth anyways. She shrugged. "No painful memories. Just good ones." Charlie said when Lenore apologized once again for bringing up memories.
"That's stupid. I hate it, how parents react to finding stuff like that out. They should love their kid no matter what." Charlie said, actually feeling a little anger towards Lenore's parents who she has never and will never meet. They sounded like buttholes to Charlie, but she wasn't about to say it out loud to Lenore. She hated it cause if people's parents didn't freak out over such things, kids and teens nowadays would be much happier and not scared to be who they are. It all started with the parents for Charlie, as they were the people kids often looked up to the most, even if they didn't always admit it.
"Yeah, you have a point." Charlie told her with a shrug. Sometimes she did just want to hide behind her computer, or book, or LARPing costume and just pretend to be someone else. But Satsu was so open, so herself, around everyone. If Charlie was that shy little girl that night, she and Satsu would of never got together and never became girlfriends. So she decided that night that bravery gained great benefits. She was learning today the complete opposite, bravery could get you in trouble if you become brave with the wrong person.
Finding out the stranger you have shared some of your most deepest darkest secrets with, stuff she barely shared with Satsu yet, was a vampire was a rude awakening for Charlie. The girl promised she wouldn't hurt her, but Charlie couldn't know for sure. Charlie nodded at her offer and texted Satsu.
"Hey, can you text Willow and ask her if she knows who Lenore is?"
She typed as quickly as she could, afraid to take her eyes of of Lenore for to long. Looking back at Lenore, what if she was evil and Willow didn't know her? What then? Charlie was hardly a fighter and if Lenore's jig was up then she would surely end Charlie right? "Well, you better hope so. As now Satsu knows about you. And if you kill me, she will seek revenge and..." Charlie's voice broke off. Sure knowing that Satsu would avenge her made her feel good, but the thought of Satsu broken up over her death was to much for Charlie to handle right now and she began to cry.

----------------------- ----------------------- Lenore nodded in agreement as Charlie said that at six you hardly knew what you wanted. "Very true," she commented. After all, even if you thought "Boys were icky" as she recalled one girl saying, you were hardly old enough to know whether or not you would grow up to prefer girls, boys, or both. Well, as far as she knew anyways. It had been a while since she was human, so she could very well be wrong, though she'd be surprised if she was. Not that she was professing to be an expert on these matters by any means. When Charlie said that she had gotten the chance to come out to her father, Lenore's expression became sympathetic. "It sounds like you were really close with him," she said. "Were you close with your mother as well?" she asked. She had no idea if the woman's parents had died one after another or if there had been years between the deaths or if her mother was still alive, but regardless, it had to be tough to lose parents even in this day and age. Hey, just because she was no longer human, it didn't mean that she didn't understand how close some humans were with their family. She then smiled in relief as the other woman assured her that she had only brought up good memories. "That's good. I wouldn't want to make you sad," she told her. When Charlie said it was stupid that her parents would disown her and that parents should love their kids no matter what, Lenore found herself nodding again even though her claim of being disowned was a moot point since her parents were dead. "Well, they're very conservative," she said with a shrug. "My choice...it wouldn't have meshed with what they taught me," she answered. Well, that was pretty much the truth. The vampire's smile grew somewhat as the human confirmed said that she had a point when she said that she sometimes wanted to hide away but at the same craved social interaction. "It can be hard to find a balance," she commented almost to herself. And it could. Of course, the fact that she had to move on after a certain number of years so that people wouldn't notice that you weren't getting any older didn't make making friends all that easy. She then waited as her companion wrote a text message and sent it, her gaze never leaving her. Yup. Charlie was freaked out. Not that she could really blame her, even though it hurt. She wasn't sure if the other woman would get an answer back, but she didn't want to make any movement that would spook her even further. So she just stood where she was even as the other woman said that she better hope that she was who she claimed to be because if she killed her, Satsu would avenge her. "I have no desire to hurt you," she assured again. Now she just had to hope that she'd believe her... -----------------------

"I was." Charlie replied when Lenore asked if she was close with him. Well as close as a 6 year old could be to her father that is. She then asked about her mother. "I was as well." Charlie replied, she was close to her mother and still is in a way. "She use to read books to me and got me into all the dorky stuff I am into now, like roleplaying and Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. I don't know where I would be if not for her." Charlie told Lenore truthfully. "Were you close with your parents? No offense, but they sound like real hard asses." Charlie said with a smile to show she meant no harm by saying it.
"So are they religious and they think being gay and bi is the devil?" Charlie asked again smiling to show the other girl she didn't mean anything by it. Charlie wasn't really religious herself. She guessed she believed in that sort of stuff. If vampires, werewolfs and witches were real then angels, demons, heaven and hell must be will too she guessed? She figured she would never know until it was her time to die and find out for herself. Part of her wanted all that stuff to be real however, as it meant her father was likely in a better place and watching over her as well.
"That's so true. Its weird, or I am weird, but when I am pretending to be someone else, in costume and all, I am much more brave then when I am myself." Charlie told her. That is why she liked LARPing so much. She could be anyone she wanted to be and socially interact with like minded people and not feel like she was being judged. The moment she took the costume off, she became reserved and her old self again wanting to live behind a computer screen or comic book. She thought she must seem like a weirdo or something for this in Lenores eyes.
"Again, isn't that what a serial killer would want you to think?" Charlie asked when she said she had no desire to hurt her, smiling to hide her fear. Charlie watched her intently. If she was being honest that she didn't want to hurt her, then why did Satsu think all vampires were bad? This one was nice enough and talked kindly to her and they had a good conversation. Charlie seriously didn't know what to believe anymore as what was standing before her now in Lenore was contradicting everything she knew about vampires since the night she met Satsu.
"Well..." Charlie said watching her closely. "...OK." Charlie told her, she guessed that her gut was telling her right now to trust Lenore, but it was a shaky trust at best and Lenore would just have to settle for that. "But seriously, I like you, and I would hate it if you killed me." Charlie said trying to smile, but it wouldn't come. She looked at her phone and there was no text back yet. Please don't kill me, she thought to herself. "So what now? Do we just part ways? Exchange numbers?" Charlie asked, she didn't want to ask her if she planned on following her home and eating her then, besides, Charlie was gonna run straight into the arms of Satsu when this was over, then Lenore would have a slayer to deal with.

----------------------- ----------------------- Lenore's eyes clouded somewhat as Charlie said that she had been close with her parents, explaining that her mother had read to her and that it had been her mother who had gotten her into Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, saying that she didn't know where she'd be without her. "She sounds really nice," she said softly. I probably would have liked her if we met, she thought to herself. Not that it was likely that they would as she was probably dead, but maybe she wasn't. "Is she still living?" she asked, hoping that she wasn't bringing up a sore topic. At the question of whether or not she had been close with her parents as they sounded like hard-asses, Lenore gave a shrug. "I was close with them when I was younger, but when I didn't show any interest in male suitors, our relationship became strained," she answered. And that was putting it mildly. Her parents hadn't understood why she refused to let herself be married off, and rather than risk a scandal, they had lied and had started keeping her away from the village. Needless to say, she had not been pleased with the deception. At Charlie's next question about her parents---wanting to know if they were religious and thinking that being gay or bisexual was of the devil---Lenore nodded. "Yes. And it caused many fights between us," she answered. Well, as much of a fight one could muster up in those days. Back then it wasn't a common practice to argue with one's parents so Lenore had just mostly felt trapped even though she knew what she wanted, which didn't include men. The vampire listened as the other woman said that when she was in costume, she was much more brave than when she was herself. "That's not weird at all. When you're playing a role, you allow yourself to be free and to do things you normally wouldn't because you know that there won't be an repercussions. We don't really have that kind of freedom in our every day lives," she answered. So yeah, it made sense that Charlie would feel more brave when she was acting out a role. When Charlie repeated her question about a serial killer saying that they wouldn't harm their victim, Lenore's eyes darkened with sadness. It was pretty clear that her reassurances weren't doing any good. And we were really getting along, she thought to herself. And then she had gone and ruined it all with a slip of the tongue. How could she have been so stupid? "I understand your caution and I admire that, but I assure you, I am no serial killer. I drink animal blood," she stated. It was disgusting, but it sufficed for what she hoped to accomplish, which was being able to stay in a town for more than a few years. She didn't blame her for being frightened though. Vampires generally were brutal killers and to think otherwise was a bit foolish. Lenore let out an unneeded breath as Charlie finally agreed to trust her, saying that she liked her and would hate it she tried to kill her. "I like you too and I promise, I won't be trying to kill you at all," she told her. Again, she didn't blame Charlie for being cautious...especially since whoever she had texted hadn't responded yet. If the situations were reversed, she would've been frightened as well. -----------------------

Lenore asked if her mother was still living. It was perhaps the one question Charlie didn't want to answer truthfully right now, not to anyone. "No, she didn't make it out of the crash either." She told Lenore, choosing her words carefully so that it wasn't a flat out lie. Her mother technically didn't make it out of the crash, as she was put into a coma where she remains to this day. And the doctors said there was little to no chance she would ever wake up. So in a sense, she was gone, but Charlie wouldn't be able to accept that, she couldn't except it.
"They must be dead set on you having children then." Charlie said when Lenore said she had a falling out of sorts with her parents when she didn't take a liking to any of her suitors. "Wouldn't they have been fine with you adopting?" Charlie asked her, a little curious on the topic. It was always interesting to find out what some of the other lesbian girls had to go through that Charlie was unlucky enough not to go through. She wanted to have conversations with her parents about this stuff and felt like she missed out on a big part of her childhood.
"Thanks for not thinking I am a weirdo." Charlie replied when she agreed with her that it made sense about being in costume and being more brave. "I still don't know how I was brave enough to talk to Satsu that night and get her to be my girlfriend. Maybe it was the because I was just attacked?" Charlie said, wondering more to herself then to Lenore. Charlie asking someone as beautiful and strong as Satsu out? She couldn't believe she had the guts to do it, but she did it and now everything was perfect in her life because of that night.
Charlie tried to lighten up once she found out the truth about what Lenore was, but she just couldn't bring herself to do it. Lenore was the one thing that her girlfriend told her never to trust, the thing that tried to kill her the night she met Satsu. Sure it sucked all of a sudden feel scared and hate for Lenore as she was nothing but nice to her this whole time and had more then a few chances to kill Charlie if she wanted to. So Charlie guessed she believed the other girl was telling the truth, but that didn't make Charlie and more comfortable with it all.
"I, its just been a crazy day." Charlie told her, Charlie looked into her basket at her books that she still had to pay for. "Um, maybe if everything works out and we can meet again we can become friends?" Charlie asked, she was just really freaked out right now and wanted to leave, she knew Lenore could understand that she just needed to be left alone. "It is nothing personal, you seem like a really nice... person. But until I find out for sure you really are nice, then, maybe it is best we keep our distance? I'm not saying I will never trust you, its just gonna take some time." Charlie told her honestly.

----------------------- ----------------------- Lenore's expression became sad when Charlie stated that her mother hadn't made it out of the crash either. "I'm so sorry," she murmured. It had to suck to lose both parents. Not that she had been particularly cared when hers had died, but she knew there were some who valued their family ties and those were the ones she felt bad for when they lost people who were close to them. She had seen what grief could do to a person and didn't miss feeling that way. Of course, given the fact that she didn't have a lot of friends outside of Eli and the others. But she was trying to make some new ones. At the comment that her parents must've been dead set on her having children, Lenore nodded. "Something like that, yeah," she answered. Back when she was human, it was pretty much what a woman was supposed to do: marry, have kids, take care of them...that would've been her whole life. When the other woman asked about adoption, the vampire shook her head. "It...it wouldn't been approved of," she answered. Back then, there had been more emphasis on actually bearing a child then taking care of someone else's, which Lenore thought about it, was incredibly stupid, but hey, who was she to say so? Besides, it wasn't like her having kids these days was a good idea. She'd probably be tempted to eat her or something. And that wouldn't be good. She then smiled as the other woman thanked her for not thinking she was a weirdo for thinking that it was easier to be braver in a costume, adding that she still wasn't sure how she had been brave enough to talk to her girlfriend in the first place, theorizing that it could've been because she had just been attacked. "No problem. And you mean like a rush of adrenaline?" she responded. I suppose that would make sense, she thought to herself. Fright could easily give way to adrenaline and cause a person to do something that they wouldn't normally do. The vampire stared at the human who was obviously trying to keep calm but not doing a good job of it. She was frightened, not that she could really blame her. After all, in her experience, vampires were evil creatures who wanted to eat and kill you. She didn't know that some vampires could be good. She then listened as the other woman said that it had been a crazy day and that if everything worked out and they met up again, they could be friends. "I'd like that," she told her and then nodded when her companion added that it was nothing personal as she seemed nice but until she knew for sure that the vampire was as nice as she seemed that they should keep their distance and that it would take time before she could trust her. "I understand. Do what you feel most comfortable with," she encouraged. After all, she didn't want Charlie hanging around her if she didn't feel comfortable around her and worrying about being attacked. That wasn't a good start to a friendship and the vampire wanted to be able to have a friendship with her. So she'd go at the other woman's pace and would let her initiate contact again. "It was nice to meet you and I hope to see you again some day," she told her. With that, she turned around and walked away. -----------------------
