Feeling Guilty(Caroline)

Stefan still felt a little bit of pain from where Lexi tortured him. The scars were almost fully healed now, but it wasn't normal. The stakes were soaked in vervain, and being weak at the time, he knew they would take awhile to heal. Stefan also felt really guilty about everything, the countless people he killed under Klaus. Sure it wasn't all his fault, but still, he was an idiot and he would get Klaus back someday, hopefully.

Stefan had texted Caroline, telling her he was gonna come over to talk to her. He didn't even know if Caroline got the text or even if she did she didn't just flat out ignore it. Stefan hurt Elena and he wasn't there for Caroline like he promised to be, they were friends and Stefan wasn't much acting like one to her, so he knew she wasn't gonna let it slide very easily. Caroline was caring, but she could be angry and mean as well.

Stefan had been back to his normal self for only a few days now. Since Lexi tortured him, he really was worried to see anyone and everyone again. He knew that he let a lot of people down, he scared a lot of people and he hurt a lot of people. Caroline was one of the first people he wanted to see, he knew she would probably be the most pissed off at him, but it was ok, he would take her words.

He parked his car in front of the Forbes Home and looked at the pathway leading up to the door. He wondered if Sheriff Forbes was home as well, but he really didn't want to see her. He got out of his car and approached the front door. How would Caroline feel about seeing him? Would she slam the door in his face, or would she yell at him and then slam the door in his face? Tough call, but standing here all day like an idiot wasn't making him feel any better about himself.

Stefan knocked finally, when no answer came, he decided to ring the doorbell. Stefan spotted Caroline finally through the windows in the door and he tried to smile at Caroline. She must of known by now, either from Lexi or Elena that he was back to his normal, broody self, and his emotions were on, though he still craved blood so much, and he felt more guilty about everything then ever. He waited for Caroline to answer the door, or not answer, which was also probable.

Caroline was meant to be in school but she really couldn't face that right now. She had had a bad run in with law enforcement just two nights ago and now she wasn't craving her blood anymore she could see the way she acted had been wrong. Plus the major hang over the next day hadn't helped. Two full bottle of tequila she was shocked she hadn't been on her ass or passed out cold somewhere. Of course she was completely grounded and had her phone taken off her. Between that and ditching going to school today she was pretty out of the loop. Last she heard was Lexi had gotten a hold of Stefan and was trying to set him straight, how that happened she had no clue and she was yet to tell Elena about what had happened with Rebekah. Getting the original on side was hard enough and yet only Bonnie knew. Unless of course Bonnie knew all about telling everything that was.

She was literally dying without her phone, it had been one day and this was her second and she was already going crazy. Only like one more day without it. She would have to get al the information she needed through that. The entire reason she wasn't at school was because she had tried snooping for it, but her mom had obviously thought about that because there was no way it was in the house. It was probably sitting in her desk at work. Giving up with a sigh she sat back on the floor in her mothers bedroom. She was craving some kind of information and as no one she knew was actually attending school, she figured she should get a head start on the next school fundraiser. Getting up she pushed a head band into her blonde curls to keep it out of her face. She really needed a hair cut but there was no way she was going down that road right now.

She heard the door knock and froze, knowing too well this could be a test from her mother to see if she was actually at school. She didn't answer and stuck to her room. Whoever it was would just go away right? When the doorbell rang she glanced out of her window, looking down she saw it was Stefan. She frowned a whole lot and headed down stairs with caution. The guy could just get in any time he felt like it but he was being polite, did this mean he was cured or was there another purpose here? She approached the door closely with her bitch expression on. No way was he coming in here and ruining her already ruined day. She wanted to growl at him. Unlocking the door she opened it just enough to reveal herself, not quite an open invitation. She frowned and crossed her arms over her chest. "Stefan, what do you want?"

Stefan wasn't surprised by her reaction. In fact he thought it might of been a little to tame for her, he wondered if she even knew his emotions were back on or not. "Hey to you to Caroline." Stefan replied to her with a small smile. He looked at her and she seemed to be in a pretty bad mood, though since she was Caroline, he knew there was a good chance that it wasn't his fault or because he was there right now. Stefan shrugged nodding his head at her.

"You didn't get my text?" Stefan asked her, but again, knowing Caroline who loved her phone, then if she didn't know what it said, then that meant she hasn't got it. "My emotions are turned back on, Elena and Lexi were able to..." Stefan said to her, his voice trailing off. He knew there was a good chance that Caroline might not believe him. But then, if he wasn't back to normal, why would he try to trick Caroline into thinking he was when he wasn't. She was smart, so he doubted she would think he was lying.

"Can we talk?" Stefan asked her politely. Doing the stuff he did, for some reason he felt more guilty about worrying, scaring and hurting the people in his life then he did about the people he murdered. Stefan leaned up against the railing of her porch, relaxing his body to show her he didn't mean her any harm. "I'm sorry I did what I did." He said suddenly, not waiting for her to answer him about if they could talk or not. He needed to tell her this, he needed to tell everyone that he wronged this.

"I... wasn't myself." Stefan said to her, though there was some truth in it, he also felt like it was a lie. The ripper part of him was in fact a part of him, no matter what people said to try to make him feel better about it. It would always be a part of who he is, no matter how long he can hide it from everyone. Stefan looked up at her. "I just don't want one of my friends to be mad at me any more, and I don't want the love of my life's best friend to hate me anymore." Stefan told her truthfully.

He doubted Caroline really hated him, though he knew Caroline was capable of hate, she wouldn't show it to him. She was mad, yes, that had to be true, maybe even scared of him, which hurt him the most as he didn't want to scare people. Caroline was Elena's best friend, other then Bonnie anyways, and getting her to forgive him was key as he figured that if she forgave him, then that meant most everyone else would be able to forgive him as well.

Caroline couldn't but be exceedingly cautious when she saw who was at her door. She hadn't spoken to Stefan since his birthday party and even back then she had known that he hadn't got it together. She had wanted to rant and yell at him then but it wouldn't have gotten her anywhere, he probably would have just laughed at her and told her where to go if not kill her himself. Ripper Stefan was scarier sometimes than Klaus could be and that was saying something. She had heard that Lexi and Elena had a plan to get him back but they hadn't spoken since they went off to Vegas it didn't seem to matter when you weren't kept in the loo[. She missed her best friend but more than anything right now she wished she had her phone so she could ring Elena and ask if it was true, the home phone wasn't eve here, that was how cruel her mom was being.

She opened the door and couldn't help have her bitch face on. The girl knew when something was wrong and she also knew when she had to be strict on her friends. Although Stefan had changed a lot since Lexi came back the two of them had lost their close friendship as they had before. Of course this meant Caroline wasn't as important when things went wrong and she wanted to feel that again. If he wasn't cured then he was going to play on her feelings and let everyone know how much it had all effected her. He was technically invited in and therefore there was nothing she could do to stop him should e want to barge his into her house however until she knew if he was his usual self again or ripper Stefan, there was no way an invitation would be initiated. She spied him carefully and heard him speak, he had obviously expected her anger, at least he could read that much from her.

She rolled her eyes at his first words, no she didn't get the text message because her mother had her phone. She wanted to growl at the words and instead focused upon Stefan. "No I didn't get your text message as I don't have my phone. Your still not answering my question, what are you doing here?"

[/color] She asked pointedly. She frowned a little when he said that his emotions were back on. How could she know for sure? For all she knew he had tricked her and was simply trying to kill her or get information out of her, not that she knew anything. "How do I know that? Ripper Stefan would have said the same thing just to see what I knew. Prove it to me."[/color] She spoke shifting the weight onto her other leg her hip jutting out showing him she was soo not in the mood for any crap right now.

She noticed his voice, the tone and everything was back to how it had been but she still wasn't convinced. She had been at the mercy of Ripper Stefan more than enough times to know that he was capable of anything. There had to be more proof than this for her to know for sure. She wanted to run next door and see if she could use their phone and ring Elena, but of course then everyone would know she had been at home. "You want to talk, talk. Say what you've got to say because there is no way in hell that i'm letting you in until I know for sure your back"[/color] She spoke and stayed put in the door way. He started to apologise and her frown appeared. What was this? Could he really be back or was this another one of his tricks? "Do you even remember what you did? How you would totally ignore me or how you hurt my best friends? Did it not occur to you that you could have come to me like you used to? No you had your Bestie Lexi for that right?"[/color] Caroline realised she was more pissed off than she knew.

Her eyebrow's raised at Stefan then. He was seriously going to pull Elena into this now? After all he had done to her and how crappy he had made her feel and he had the audacity to try and use her as a shield. She wanted to swipe at him and maybe punch him but she restrained herself. She rolled her eyes instead. "If I wasn't so again her and Damon and so for you and Elena being together I would kill you where you stand right now just do we are clear."[/color] She let out a soft sigh but at least she knew it was him now. That kind of guilt in someone's eyes couldn't be faked no matter how hard you tried. She stepped back and invited him into her home. "You have some big explaining to do and if I cut in for some snide remark, you get no comment"[/color] She spoke with a small smile knowing she would have a lot to say but was thankful to have him back.

With all that was going on, it was odd to think that Caroline was the one he wanted to make things right with first. Stefan knew how Bonnie felt about him, and Bonnie would always be wary of vampires, but Caroline was a vampire and one of Elena's best friends. He has already spoken to Elena and Lexi and though stuff was far from perfect they seemed to understand. Jeremy would be really difficult to make amends with, he knew Jeremy was really pissed at him, so the only logical person to go to first was Caroline.

If Caroline forgave him, then it should allow the others to be forgiving to. They wouldn't trust Lexi's and Elena's judgement because they were both to close to Stefan, but someone like Caroline who wasn't as close as they were, and she did hold a certain sway over her friends, would be able to help them forgive him. Plus Stefan promised to be there for her and help her out with stuff and he wasn't. Stefan knew about the Tyler breakup and that she had feelings for Klaus and he should of been there as a friend for her, and wasnt.

Stefan hated feeling guilty all the time, but that's just how he was. He was either an emotionless douche bag homicidal maniac, or a eternally guilty, reliable, broody teenager. Great options, but he knew everyone would agree that the broody side of him was WAY better then the homicidal side of him. He didn't even want to enter Caroline's house even though he knew he could. He wanted to gain her trust and entering her house, even invited was not the way to go.

As expected Caroline wasn't being to nice to him. Stefan wasn't gonna let it upset him to much, though it still hurt. "I wanted to come by to say I am sorry. I have been a real jerk lately." He began, though he briefly wondered why Caroline's mother took her phone away, but decided that Caroline didn't need to go into that rant with him. Stefan tried to smile at her. The next thing she brought up was that she wanted proof that he had his emotions back on. Stefan really didn't know how to prove it to her.

He thought for a moment. How exactly do you prove to someone that you were back to normal? Lexi and Elena knew it cause instead of wanting to feed from Elena, all he wanted to do was save her and love her, even though the blood was flowing out of her wound really quickly and it was an intoxicating smell for him. Stefan didn't know how to prove it to Caroline though and just let her continue to rant at him about everything. About hurting people, her friends, what he did, but worst of all was she seemed to be mad about Lexi.

This kind of hurt him more then she could ever know and his eyes looked down at the floor boards of her porch. Some tears coming out. He didn't mean to replace Caroline with Lexi or even vice-versa. He wanted to be friends with both of them and the fact that she seemed upset that Lexi was closer to him really hit home hard for him. "Caroline, I'm sorry, I didn't mean for you to feel that way. I'm stupid." He simply said on the subject, he didn't really know the relationship that Lexi and Caroline had, or if they even liked each other.

"I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to." Stefan said to her when she said she wanted to kill him if not for Elena. Part of him would admit that Elena would be better off without him, but the other part of him wanted to be with Elena more then anything. She seemed to know now that he was telling the truth and she motioned for him to enter. Stefan didn't know if he wanted to be alone with Caroline right now. But he knew she had to get it all out. He walked slowly into her house, smiling at her comment.

"That's fine Caroline." He replied, Stefan walked by Caroline looking around her house. It had been awhile since he had been in her house. Partially because of all that has happened, but also partially because he hadn't had to enter her house in awhile. It felt weird being in here, and he didn't know what to say. "I'm sorry about you and Tyler." Stefan decided to say, though she was probably over it by now, he just missed so much. "I should of been there for you." He added.

Caroline had always had a fair few trust issues. Especially considering she had been turned into a vampire meaning everything had been enhanced, all of her control freak issues included. So when someone lost her trust it could be highly difficult to gain it back and Stefan was one of the people who knew this about her the most. If anything he had helped her at first, trying to put a damper on all of the escalated feelings and even though it hadn't worked too well it had started to, the help and the company was what helped though. When he disappeared to be best friends with Lexi again it was as though he just stopped caring, which technically was exactly what he did. She didn't know why she was even tempted to trust him again but her instincts were telling her that he really had changed back, not that she was completely listening.

Caroline couldn't help but stare at him, she was trying to see through the demeanour he so obviously was wearing, was this another trick? He was very good as Ripper Stefan to trick people and as no one else knew that she didn't have her phone yet she couldn't exactly just ring or text someone like Elena to confirm it all. She wanted to sigh or scream or rip some ones hair out. Maybe even her own. She knew how complicated this entire situation was getting, this town was getting ridiculous and between this one and Richmond it seemed as though everyone was trying to make this as difficult as possible. She noticed how Stefan was standing, everything. The gleam in his eyes was back and wasn't staring back at her with a cold heartedness. There was something different and maybe he really had switched his humanity back on.

Caroline heard his words but frowned a little. She sighed a little and tilted her head to the side a little observing his reactions, he seemed content to just stand there and apologize even though he needed to do one hell of a lot more than that. "Seriously? Sorry? You were a jerk? That's the best you can do? You need to be sorry and you were a lot more than a jerk. Jackass would be another word you can use"

[/color] She sighed knowing that she couldn't dent what was right in front of her. He really had gone back to his old ways. "So why are you here with me then? Surely your apology should be to those who are closer to you?"[/color] She knew she was being a little unfair but she just couldn't seem to help herself. She had been cast aside without a second glance and for someone like her, it forced her ego to take the hit.

Care frowned a little when she saw the tears, really he was crying. She growled, she was always a sucker for the tears and walked into her house, she grabbed him a tissue and passed it over, she really didn't need the water works when she was trying to be angry with him. "Yes well being cast aside like that hurt my feelings. Scary huh? Stefan, you tried to help me and then left me. I learned about being a vampire on my own, I controlled everything myself. I also kissed Klaus which proves my bad judgement"[/color] She realised what she had let slip and opened her eyes wide. Yeah that was unexpected. "Oh god! Don't say anything please. Urgh see? I'm such a mess these last few weeks, Tyler broke up with me and now I'm lost"[/color] She sighed a little and ran a hand through her hair in frustration.

She rolled her eyes at his words. Yes he wouldn't blame her if she did try something however she couldn't do that. As much as she hated to admit it, Stefan had become a close friend to her before all of this had happened and she wanted that back. "I'm not going to kill you. I should but I won't."[/color] She sighed wondering how much he knew about what was happening. She couldn't even think about it so figured it was best not to. She have to ask one thing though. "Have you seen Tyler? He's back in town with his sire bond fully in place. I haven't seen him since he came back."[/color] She was worried for him and who better to know than Stefan who had been off with Klaus for some of this time? She didn't even know where Klaus was but she would have to wait and see what happened.

When he said that he was sorry about her and Tyler it was obvious he had heard that the two of them had broken up. It was obvious really. It had broken her heart but she was recovering, not to mention her feelings for Klaus. She mentally shook herself out of it, she was soo not going there right now. It wasn't as if she didn't have enough to deal with. "Yeah well, he had obviously stopped loving me whilst he was away. What ever you know, I'll survive"[/color] She didn't know if her bravado would get her far but she sniffed once and willed the tears that were threatening to fall back. No way was she going to cry today, she had enough to deal with as far as she was concerned. Heading into the front room she sat down and waited for Stefan to follow suit.[/blockquote]

Stefan had been such a jerk to everyone. To Elena, to Lexi to Damon, to Jeremy. To everyone. It was probably worse for Caroline then almost everyone else, with the exception of Elena that is. Plus Stefan knew Caroline's personality and the fact that everything was multiplied when she turned didn't help any. She seemed to be more mad at Lexi returning then about the stuff he did which was a little odd to him. Why would Lexi be back bother her, unless they didn't get along that well.

Stefan didn't leave her for Lexi, he left her to help his brother. Stefan wondered why Caroline seemingly was blaming Lexi for stuff when it all clearly fell on him. "Yeah, jackass, that works to, anything else, please get it off your chest." He agreed with her. That was actually pretty tame for Caroline, he expected her to call him a lot worse and he would not argue with her for doing so. He sighed knowing her and knowing who she was, she was insecure about certain stuff. She would be the first to admit it to.

"Caroline, I wanted to help you, really I did. But my brother needed me and then I lost control. I didn't want to abandon you when you needed me." Stefan told her honestly. "I'm not sorry about helping my brother. I am sorry it hurt you and it made you feel abandoned and everything else. This had nothing to do with Lexi though Caroline." Stefan continued he seriously wanted to know why she thought he didn't want to be friends with her anymore, but he figured that was just her personality for you.

"I'm here cause I want to be friends again, because I hate myself cause of the fact you hate me as well. I'm here because I wasn't there for you before, but I am here for you now." Stefan said to her, honestly. Stefan knew all of this, gaining every ones trust again was gonna be difficult and upsetting. But he knew it was probably gonna be hardest to get Caroline back. Just because of who she was. Not that he hurt her most of all, he hurt everyone pretty much the same amount, but because she probably took it hardest.

That's not really a bad thing, its a good thing. It is good that she cares so much and it is partially way more then a few people refer to her as Care Bear sometimes. Stefan respected her cause she cared a lot, as everyone knew he had a hard time caring himself. "I'm sorry Caroline, I should of been there to help you." Stefan said to her, he really didn't know what else to say. It was the truth, he should of been there to help her, but he wasn't, and it made him feel really bad about it. That is why it is just easier without the emotions.

"You kissed Klaus?" Stefan asked her. Stefan thought about how weird it was for Caroline to like Klaus, like the very person who made everyone miserable. Stefan couldn't really judge her for it, as he just found out recently that he himself once upon a time liked Rebekah. "Look, Caroline, if you like Klaus, then you should try to be with him." Stefan told her honestly. Love was love, and Caroline shouldn't deny it just because of who Klaus is. She should embrace it, and if she happens to change Klaus along the way, then that was just extra good.

"Its fine Caroline, you don't have to feel lost, you have friends and family that want to help you. You have me, if you still want me that is." Stefan told her. Stefan knew how bad it was breaking up with someone, Tyler was really important to Caroline, and the fact they weren't together upset her a lot. Stefan couldn't blame her, as he would probably fall apart of Elena broke his heart like that. Stefan wanted to hug Caroline right now and show her that he cared, but he knew she was upset with him and might not want it.

"Thanks Caroline, I appreciate not being killed by a friend." Stefan said with a small grin trying to be a little playful to lighten the mood a bit. "No, not really. Tyler and I didn't talk much at all." Stefan told her honestly. "I'm sorry, I wish I could give you more but I can't. I'm sure he is fine though." Stefan told her honestly. Stefan tried to avoid everything from Mystic Falls that he could while he didn't have his emotions on, the only person he hung with with Damon and even that relationship didn't last long.

Stefan could tell that Caroline was just acting brave when it came to Tyler and the breakup. Again, he just wanted to hug her, but he was sure they weren't to the hug it out phrase yet. "Caroline, if you ever need someone to talk to about Tyler, you can come to me." Stefan offered, though he knew she would probably not want to talk to him about Tyler. Still, he felt like he should offer and see if she wanted to in some way. Stefan followed her into her house, it had been a long time and entered her living room.

Stefan sat down next to her. There was so much he wanted to tell her about, well, everything. Stuff he didn't want to tell many people because they would treat him like a monster. Plus he wanted to find out what Caroline knew is she knew anything at all. "Has Klaus told you anything about the past? About what happened in the 1920s?" Stefan asked her, hoping that the answer was no, that was one really big bag of worms that he couldn't share with Elena. He knew Elena would freak if she found out about Rebekah.

Caroline looked at Stefan and quite literally wanted to rip his head off. It made sense in a lot of ways that he would try to seek forgiveness with her first, she was after all the toughest to win back. Of course the fact that he knew a lot didn't help how she felt about him. It was almost as though he was trying to make up for it and then let her know he hadn't been there for all the events that he also knew about. Really the wrong way to go about getting someone's forgiveness really. However even she wasn't blind to see how bad he felt about it all, it was in his eyes and even though Care could act as though she didn't see it, inside she was wanted to throw her arms around him and hug him and tell him how much she missed him and that she forgave him. It just wasn't her though, she liked to make people work for it all the time.

Caroline thought about what he had done when he had been his riper self. How even on Elena's birthday he hadn't come home for her. How she had never given up hope but it was so obvious that he had. He had left his emotions on until Klaus had forced him to turn them off. Klaus had been the real problem and yet she wondered if Stefan knew that she had kissed him. Then slapped him of course but she had kissed him back none the less. She couldn't think about Klaus though, it was too dangerous of a territory. No if Stefan didn't know anything then he wouldn't need to know. She had gotten through enough of her own dramas on her own since he was gone and besides she had Bonnie and Elena to help her through it all. She thought about Rebekah and how she was now on their side as well, everything was spinning out of control and some of the most unreliable people had been the most help.

She wanted to scream abuse at him but making a noise when she wasn't supposed to be home was not a good thing and would surely tip off her mom that she had been here snooping for her phone. She was about to go insane, he was just taking everything she threw at him and wasn't even trying to fight back. She growled a little. "Urgh! I can't even start because if I do I won't stop. Your the reason I managed to get through some of my worst times being a vampire and yet you turned in a total douche and seriously? You won't even fight back or defend anything here, your just standing there and that frustrates me even more!"

[/color] She couldn't even explain it. Insulting him at the moment would be like kicking someone when they were already down and out for the count. She sighed a little.

Finally he started defending some of his actions. Yes Caroline couldn't deny him that what he had done foe his brother had been brave and foolish and something she would have done for Elena or Bonnie as well. She sighed a little and nodded her head. "I'm not blaming you for that part, I would have done the same thing"[/color] She spoke knowing it to be true. However when he continued she wanted to throw something at his head again. "Don't you get it!? It has everything to do with Lexi. I was nothing but your blonde stand in. I was there for you and you were there for me and then Bam! Lexi shows up i'm nothing more than a vampire you used to help, nothing but your girlfriends best friend. You left me not only to help your brother but you moved on to another friend, you didn't need me anymore and that's the worst part, you should have come to be before everything went out of control!"[/color] She realised she had raised her voice and took a few deep breaths to calm herself down.

Stefan went on to explain why he was actually here and not somewhere with Lexi or something like that. She sighed knowing her anger was fading now, she just felt sorry for him. He had been through a lot himself and all she was focusing on was herself again. She really had to get over that part. She nodded her head a little. "I'm glad your here. You can be here for me. I don't particularly forgive you completely but I will give you a free pass. Would it be hard to go back to how they had bee before all of this mess had started who would it be easy? Either way he could work for her forgiveness and although she wouldn't have to tell him, he would definitely know when he had earned it.

Out of her entire rant the main part he heard was that she had kissed Klaus. Yeah perfect just what she needed, more people knowing. Only Bonnie knew so far, not even Elena knew yet, she hadn't had the chance to tell her. She had been so busy with Stefan. She sighed and nodded her head weakly. "Yeah I kissed him. I also slapped him afterwards which made me feel a little less guilty about liking him."[/color] Stefan's next words came as a bit of a shock. He thought that she should go for it if she really liked him. She raised her eyes and crossed her arms a little. "Really? But what will everyone else think. He's done such horrible things to all of my friends, look what he has just done to you! Why do I like someone like that. Someone who forced Tyler to break up with me? I swear if I didn't care so much I would just turn it all off."[/color] She spoke with a sigh and pushed a hand through her hair.

Stefan was someone she had actually missed having in her life, it was probably why she had been so angry with him to start off with, other than the obvious reasons of breaking her best friends heart when he left. She wasn't sure if she felt what he said was true but at least he was making the effort only Bonnie and Elena had really done that when she had broken up with Tyler. "Yes i'll have you. God knows why but I will. I'll take anyone I can get. I'm upset over Tyler but also I feel guilty because I think I had feelings for Klaus whilst I was still with Tyler"[/color] She realised she was fully opening herself up to Stefan again right now. Maybe that was what she had needed all this time. Someone to be able to tell everything to without getting judged. Her best friends would listen but they would judge without meaning to.

Care managed to lift her lips in a small smile at his words. Yes being killed by a friend was not something to look forward to. When he said he hadn't seen or heard from Tyler she shrugged a little. It didn't surprise her really. "That's ok. Did Klaus ever mention him after he was turned? I mean surely he was pissed that Tyler left in the first place right?"[/color] She spoke trying to get some kind of information from all of this. Stefan spoke saying that he was there if she wanted to talk about Tyler. She nodded a little and smiled, the corner of her lips pulling up. "Thanks Stefan. I think I just need to know he's ok you know? I haven't seen him in so long and I know he was hiding out from Klaus. Maybe I should call him? But what if I do see him and it breaks my heart all over again?"[/color] She wanted to growl with frustration, this was all so confusing.

Stefan sat next to her and she couldn't help but take his hand and let him know in that way that she was here for him as well. At least this was a start at rebuilding their friendship right? She hoped it was, she needed someone like him around to help keep her in control of herself. His question made her frown a little and she thought about it but shook her head. Why would she know anything or why would they even talk about that? "No why? What happened in the 1920's? I'm sure I can get Klaus to tell me something that happened if you really wanted me to find out?"[/color] She asked carefully. Surely this had to do with something that she didn't know. it was strange to think that she didn't know something.

Stefan knew that Caroline must of been pissed and wanted to kill him. Not that he would stop her if she did try, but he knew she wouldn't. She wouldn't want to do that to Elena. Caroline would hate herself if she were to kill her best friends boyfriend, even if he had recently been acting like a giant douche bag. He was glad that she was mad at him, as he didn't think anyone else was, or he didn't know if they were. Lexi acted more concerned, yes with underlying tones of anger, still, she wasn't purely mad at him.

And Elena, Elena would never be mad at him, no matter what he did, well maybe if Stefan cheated on her, or broke up with her, but not for this. She just seemed concerned and worried and sad by it all. So the anger from Caroline was a nice change of pace for him. "Caroline, you know I care about you, and I do need you." Stefan said to her honestly. Stefan hasn't shown it recently, but he needed Caroline, he needed all his friends and loved ones and family. "Caroline." Stefan said sadly, he hated that she felt like this.

"That is not true Caroline. I will always need you." Stefan told her, what was he gonna say, he didn't know what else to say, all he knew was that he needed to proof it to her some how. Lexi was important to him, of course she was. She has been his best friend, really one of his only friends for over 100 years. Caroline could respect that, couldn't she? Caroline was fiercely loyal to all her friends as well, so she couldn't blame him for that. But she was right. Lexi became the most important friend when she came back.

Stefan didn't mean for that to happen. Everything just gravitated towards Lexi. It is how it has always been since Stefan could remember. That's just how it has always been. Stefan couldn't explain it, but she was right. "I'm sorry Caroline. I don't know what to say, I didn't mean for you to feel that way." Stefan told her. Of all the stuff he has done, she had to be upset about this the most. Stefan felt worst about that, about how Caroline felt was worse then how he felt about killing innocent people, that's how bad it was.

"Thanks, Caroline." Stefan told her, glad that she at least wanted him to be there for her now. He smiled at her when she mentioned Damon being an ass. "Yes, but he is our ass." Stefan said to her, trying to get her to feel better about everything. Stefan was good like that, at trying to lighten the mood. He had to be, as often times, he was the one that caused the mood in the first place, so if he was unable to change the mood back to normal then that would just be more of a reason he had to hate himself.

Stefan smiled when she admitted to slapping Klaus. That must of felt good and Stefan wished he could get away with something like that. It just spoke volumes about how much Klaus really cared for Caroline. That she could slap him and probably tell him off and he wont kill her. Her next comments made him really think. He nodded. "Yeah, I am sure many people won't be happy about it. I know I wont be, but..." Stefan told her with a frown as he looked at Caroline's face he shook his head.

"The thing is, here I am asking for forgiveness and I would be a hypocrite if I told you that after all that Klaus has done that he doesn't deserve forgiveness, as you can say the same about me. Love is blind Caroline, look at Elena and I. If Klaus wants forgiveness and changes for you, then he should be given a shot at it. Otherwise no one can claim they forgive me if they can't be bothered to forgive Klaus." Stefan told her. Stefan didn't pretend to know what went on in Klaus'es mind. But if he wanted Caroline, Klaus was gonna have to earn it.

"I'm not saying you should let him be in your life easily. I am just saying, if he earns your love, and he earns his forgiveness, then they can't judge you for loving him. Besides, they are your friends, if they can't support you and your decision, then that is their problem." Stefan told her. "I will tell you one thing, I am here for you, and if you love him and he deserves your love then I will respect that." Stefan told her truthfully. He wasn't thrilled that she seemed to like Klaus or whatever her feelings for him were, but he would not judge her for them.

"I will never judge you for following your heart. If I did, I would be the biggest hypocrite of them all." Stefan added to drive home the point. "And don't feel guilty about Tyler. You can't help what you feel for Klaus. I once had feelings for Rebekah." Stefan admitted to her, he wondered if she was gonna freak out at that little bombshell. Stefan's feelings for Rebekah are long gone, and he was just glad to get it off his chest and admit it to someone, and the fact it made a good point helped him admit it.

"Yeah, of course he was pissed at Tyler... He is Klaus after all." Stefan told her when she asked. "I am sure Tyler is fine." Stefan said with a smile. He nodded when she asked what she should do. "You should call him, I am sure even though you broke up he would like to hear from you. You are strong Caroline, you can handle talking to him again." Stefan told her honestly.

Stefan smiled when she took his hand, glad that she seemed to forgive at least a little bit. He nodded when she answered his question with a no. "Well, other then the Rebekah thing, me and her were together back then. And Klaus and I were... we were friends back then." Stefan admitted to her, Stefan didn't have his emotions on, and this news must of been a shock for her to hear.

Every time Caroline looked at Stefan she couldn't help but go back to when she had just turned into a vampire. How she had just killed someone and had hated every minute of it but there had been a sick part of her that had enjoyed it. She knew it was a darker side of her that was always going to be there, it was her nature. But Stefan had been there for her, had helped her through it. Although she had been freaking out herself he had managed to talk her out of it and even to get rid of the vampire face, just by breathing deeply and trying to stay calm, it helped. She knew that she wouldn't have survived her first week being a vampire if it hadn't had been for him and Elena. Damon would have killed her that very day she had transitioned. It seemed as though every time she went back to those days Stefan's face always seemed to appear promising to be there for her.

Caroline was not normally the type to have a freak out. well that was a lie she was but normally she was in better control of it, she could keep herself calm on the exterior and then be raging inside. Yet she couldn't seem to keep all of this in, she just wanted to scream and rant and rage and words kept coming out of her mouth. She wanted Stefan to know exactly how she felt and not care about his feelings. However she knew that to be impossible, when she looked at him she couldn't help but wonder if he was alright as well, wonder if he was thinking the same thing. She had to take his feelings in to consideration because that was just the sort of person she was. However ranting at him seemed to make her feel a little better and although she wasn't exactly insulting him she was simply speaking the truth she felt bad afterwards. Also better from getting it off her chest.

Stefan didn't make much of a comment on her first little rant, at least he was understanding how she was feeling, she had to give him that he was taking it all so calmly. She would be raging and ranting back by now if it had been her on the receiving end, but they were different people after all. "Ok well prove it. Be here for me and I'll do the same for you. I'm not saying I'm the first person you should come to because that should be Elena at all costs but just know I'm here!"

[/color] She sighed a little and took in a deep breath. Maybe the two of them reconnecting was exactly what she needed as of late. "Stefan don't be sad, part of me can't blame you for what you did, but the other part is just pissed. I'm figuring no one else is mad at you, simply worried?"[/color] She knew her friends well enough to know that.

He didn't have much to say on her big rant about Lexi. As much as Caroline didn't know the girl and could appreciate their long time friendship, she wanted to feel loved as well. Stefan would be able to see where she was coming from and respect that this was a dig at Lexi but at him for ditching her. She let out a deep breath and nodded her head. A small smile crossed her lips as a thought came to her. "Strange isn't it? I'm more pissed at you for ditching me and forcing me to deal with this vampire stuff than I am at you for being the ripper again Maybe I am as selfish and shallow as people believe me to be."[/color] Her smile faded fast at the admission and knew it was true. She always thought of herself and that was why she struggled to hold onto friendships and relationships. She really needed to sort herself out.

Stefan was finally catching on about it all and that was something she could appreciate. It could be so much worse. She sighed feeling bad for making it all come back to Lexi. Having her back was everything he had ever wanted and she couldn't deny him that no matter her own personal problems. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to disrespect your long time friendship. I can never compare I know that and I respect it whole heartedly, I just need someone as well"[/color] She hoped the explanation was a good one, it was the best she had. She giggled a little at his words about Damon. Yeah he was complicated to say the least. "Well actually now he's your pain in the ass because I can happily say he is a Salvatore I'd be happy not interacting with ever again"[/color] She said with a smirk, everyone knew the two of them didn't get along.

When mentioning Klaus she got butterflies in the pit of her stomach. Yeah that was soo what she needed when she thought about him. If anything that was most definitely the last thing she needed. She watched a small smile at the mention of her slapping him afterwards. Caroline had had a good excuse to, after all he had called her nothing more than a mere distraction which was not what she had thought it had been, although she had freaked out afterwards herself. She watched and listened as Stefan spoke and then broke off. color=ff162b]"You won't like it but what? Trust me you won't be the only one who won't like it, pretty much everyone will hate me"[/color] She spoke quietly. The thought of loosing her friends because she had feelings for someone felt horrid and wasn't sure if she could risk it completely.

At Stefan's little speech Caroline knew she was hanging on to every word. What he was saying was making sense and surely others could see it from that point of view as well right? What if Klaus really did change in order to ensure he kept Caroline's trust. Could she ask that of him? She wasn't sure yet but sure as hell hoped so. She smiled slightly towards him. "Thank you. That was what I needed to hear. Also your going to be my support when I tell people I like him. I need someone as convincing as you to explain everything you just said. Who knew you would be the smart one when it came to relationships huh?"[/color] She said with a large smile and a small nudge of her elbow towards him. The smile lasted for the first time in a long time. She glanced up at Stefan and tucked a curl behind her ear, it seemed all really was forgiven.

At Stefan's lack of judgement she couldn't be more over joyed. Someone like him would have been the harder person to convince and she was happy he could see it from that point of view and didn't think less of her. She smiled, the corner of her lips pulling up as she looked across at him. "Thank you again Stefan. Also don't worry about him getting anything to easily. I want an apology for after the kiss to start with. He told me it was nothing more because he needed a distraction. He is going to work for it, not like it was with Damon. I'm going to do it right this time"[/color] She spoke her confidence growing once more. She had always had a confident air about herself and she was starting to get it back. Nothing could hold her back when she wanted something, after all she was Caroline Forbes.

When told not to feel guilty about Tyler she nodded her head. He was her first true love and yet she felt as though they really were over, nothing more to say between the two of them. She wanted to clear the air but wasn't sure whether it was a good idea. However at Stefan's little exclamation about Rebekah Care felt her eyes popping out of her head. Stefan and Rebekah!? "Seriously!? Can I just say EW. I mean urgh Stefan standards!... I just judged you for that and yet I expect people to react differently about Klaus. I'm doomed"[/color] She spoke with a sigh but the news about Stefan and Rebekah was an interesting one. She wondered if Elena knew and figured she did otherwise he wouldn't be revealing all of this to her. Caroline and Elena had been best friends too long for him to think about asking her to keep this to herself. He knew that.

Talking about Tyler hurt a little but at least she had someone she could talk to about it all, that was comforting at least. She smiled and nodded her head. "yeah I think I will call him this week. I need to know he's ok. As much as I have feelings for Klaus I don't want him to kill Tyler."[/color] She sighed and smiled. At Stefan's small news about him and Klaus being friends I the 1920's Care's eyes popped wide once more and then frowned a little. "That actually makes sense. Why he wouldn't use you in the ritual. Why he wanted to take you with him when he left town. it actually does make sense. Kinda creepy though. Why didn't you recognise him though when he came to town?"[/color] She asked curiously. Surely you remember who you were friends with, even if it was ninety years ago.

Stefan couldn't help but think about some of the stuff him and Caroline have been through. Some of the stuff that he had been there for her. Telling her that as a vampire who you were as a human is multiplied and becomes stronger as a vampire. He couldn't help but look back on those days fondly as she kind of became his best friend in that time. He was a little ashamed to admit it, but she became one of his best friends since Lexi was gone, and he couldn't help but feel guilty about it, as that how he was when he was human.

"Isn't killing cute defenseless animals the first step in becoming a serial killer?"
"Well you sort of skipped serial killer and went straight to vampire."

Then she went on a rant about her feelings.

"When someone becomes a vampire, all their natural behaviors sort of get amplified."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, as a human, I cared deeply for people and how they felt. If they were hurting, I felt their pain. I felt guilty if I was the one that caused it. And as a vampire, all of that got... magnified."
"So you`re saying that now, I`m basically an insecure, neurotic, control-freak... on crack."
"Well... I wasn't gonna say it... like that, but..."

Stefan admitted that this conversation was the moment he knew Caroline and him would get along very well, and in fact would become best friends over. Stefan didn't want to admit it, but she kinda in that moment took the place of Lexi. Not that her and Lexi had a lot in common. But, he was there for her, and she was there for him. He needed someone like that in his life ever since Lexi was killed he was lacking that and Caroline stepped in. This is why he felt even more guilty that he abandoned her. She even went on to tease him a little which is something Lexi would do by saying.

"Why are you looking at him with your Serious Vampire look? It’s different from your Worried Vampire look. Neither of which strays too far from your Hey It’s Tuesday look."
"Oh, ok, I get it... you think I am to serious."
"Well I wasn't gonna say it like that."

Stefan smiled thinking about all of this. "I know Caroline. I know you are always there for me. And I will come to you when I need you, and I expect the same from you. Caroline, I never want to let you down again." Stefan told her with a smile and with truth behind his words. He meant everything he said to her. "Well if they are mad, they haven't showed it. Lexi is probably more disappointed that I fell off the wagon then mad at me for it." Stefan said to her truthfully. "As for Elena, her and I need some serious alone time, you know." Stefan said with a frown. Lexi wouldn't leave them alone, and Stefan couldn't blame her.

He smiled at her next comments. "Well I wasn't gonna say it like that..." Stefan said with a smile. Maybe it was the memory he just thought about but he didn't feel that way. Caroline just wanted all her friends and family around her, sure maybe it was a little selfish, but Caroline deserved that in her life. "I don't think your selfish, your just full of love, your just full of compassion. You need an outlet to get all of that out. There is a reason why you are everyone's Care Bear." Stefan said wanting to hold her right now, as she seemed to need it.

"Its fine Caroline. I understand how you feel. Yeah, you can't compare to her, but you are better then her in different ways. You both are amazing people in your own ways, and I just want you to know that. You don't have to try to compete with her, as you are every bit as amazing as her." Stefan told her truthfully with a smile to show he was serious. "And, well you have someone, if you still want me that is. I can't replace Lexi with you, but there is enough room for both of you in my life." Stefan added.

Speaking about Klaus with Caroline was an odd feeling. Stefan hated Klaus and everything he put Stefan and Elena and everyone through. But Stefan couldn't deny that if he was given love and forgiveness since he was trying to be a better person, then Klaus deserved it to if Klaus were to try to improve who he was. Stefan didn't want to tell Caroline that she shouldn't hold her breath on Klaus changing, even for her, as he didn't want her to get upset over it. "Its a long shot, Caroline, but maybe he can change." Stefan said, feeling this was a gentler statement while making the same point.

"Your welcome Caroline, and me, my current relationship is a trainwreck." Stefan said to her with a frown. Stefan then got an idea how he was gonna make up with Elena and to win her back, he made a mental note to set it up when he got home and invite her over. But he was far from a relationship guru, he could just see it from Caroline and Klaus'es points of view, as he felt he was in a similar position as they were. So he couldn't judge them, if they wanted it and Klaus deserved it, then why couldn't they try?

"I'm glad Caroline. Because he doesn't deserve you yet. I just want you to know that. Klaus has a lot to do to deserve you, and until he does, don't give him the time of day. But once he does, I will support it no matter what." Stefan told her honestly. Stefan wanted to make it a point that he didn't want her to run into his arms right away, he wanted her to be selective about it. And if it never works out between the two, and Klaus always wants to be an ass, then she should turn elsewhere for love and that he would support her no matter what.

Stefan laughed at her comments about Rebekah. "Well in my defense, it was a different time and I was a different person. The difference between me and her and you and Klaus is that you care what other people think. That is actually a good thing. I didn't care if anyone wanted us together, you do, don't lose that." Stefan told her with a smile. He laughed and knew that her and Rebekah probably didn't get along. Not surprising as they both have an alpha female attitude. "Yeah, even I have to look back and saw Ew a little bit." Stefan teased her.

Stefan smiled at her, hugging her for the first time when she said she was gonna call Tyler, he knew that Caroline probably needed a hug over the situation and he didn't want to hold back any more and wanted to comfort her. That was Caroline for you, always caring, even about her exes. Then she spoke about Klaus and the whole situation making a lot of sense. He nodded, feeling the same way and knowing it to be true.

"Yeah, I think he sees me as a sort of brother. Well not me, but Ripper me. He may actually like me better then his own real brothers and sisters. He even was supportive of Rebekah and I." Stefan said to her truthfully. It was weird Klaus'es weird obsession with him. Stefan knew why though, because when Stefan was a ripper in the 20s, he was cold and cunning and ravenous, and evil. And Klaus liked it. Stefan didn't want to be like that again. Which is why he needed Caroline and Lexi and Elena now more then ever, to keep him from being like that.

Caroline could see the effort being made today. It would have taken a lot of courage for him to come up to her and try to make things right, she wondered if she could have done the same thing. No she probably would have let her insecurities get the best of her and convince herself that people really didn't want to see her no matter how much they claimed to be her friend. She wondered what would have happened should it have been her. She didn't have to, Care knew that Elena and Bonnie would never let her get to that state and there was no way they wouldn't bring her back, just like she would do the same for those two. Best friends weren't easily made and she knew that although they didn't talk as much as they used to, they were still best friends between the three of them. She wanted to smile at the thought of it.

Looking at Stefan she knew she missed having him around. As much she wanted him back for Elena, she had missed him more than anyone. An epic love such as theirs wasn't something that could be interrupted. They were made for each other and although she knew her friend had feelings for the older Salvatore as well, she had come to her senses and made the right choice when it came to Stefan. Caroline also had wanted him back for herself, she had a few problems and could get a little selfish sometimes, she knew that but she had missed having someone to talk to all the time. She looked over at him and could see all the good times they had had together as well. However he was lost in thought or memories she had no clue. She frowned a little and tilted her head to the side. "What are you thinking about so intensely? You have your face that says I'm either brooding or totally lost in thought"

She smiled a little at his words, she didn't realise how much she missed him until he was back right in front of her face. It was the old saying you never know what you have until it's gone. "Ok glad we got that settled. I really am glad that your back and I'm sure I'm not the only person either, you'd think there would be some massive party or something to say welcome back, although we both know Damon would have something to say about that"[/color] She smirked at him. The tension had been lifted from her shoulders. She felt as though she could relax once more. "Give it time. Elena missed you more than anyone. I've never seen her so worried. She'll be happy that your back so don't go brooding around her. Plus alone time shouldn't be that hard to get surely, even if I have to arrange it myself for you guys"[/color] She spoke with a smile.

Caroline couldn't help her smirk at his words, it was what they had once said to each other when she had first been turned into a vampire and he had been helping her get through the transition and how to be a vampire. Even stopping her from killing matt in the woods. She rolled her eyes towards him. "Your wouldn't huh?"[/color] She smiles and shook her head a little. At his words she felt a little touched. She had no idea someone had such a high opinion of her. She knew it was just her being insecure but it still felt good. "I had no idea that you or anyone else thought that about me. Your right though, I do need an outlet, any suggestions? I tried running and it works until I get bored after about ten minutes"[/color] She spoke with a shrug. She couldn't help it.

Lexi was obviously a sore subject for Caroline, she couldn't help it. She seemed to just swoop in and take over all of her best friends and Care just didn't get a say in it. However she had to respect the type of friendship she had with Stefan. The two of them had known each other for so long. "Thank you. It's not that I don't like her either, not that I've ever really met Lexi but it just seems like she gets everything without even trying"[/color] She sighed and tried to think about something else. Reaching across she took Stefan's hand for a moment and smiled softly. 'Seriously? Of course i'll have you. Someone's gotta be here to make sure you and Elena sort this out and get your epic love back"[/color] She spoke with a smirk. She loved Stefan as a friend and knew she always woud.

Speaking about Klaus was a hard thing to do with Stefan. After everything that had just happened with Stefan because of Klaus. However if only he could see the difference when she was with him. He wasn't that evil monster, there was feelings behind those cold eyes. He tried with her and that wasn't something everyone else got to see. However his statement drove home. He didn't think Klaus would change for her and she sighed, hoping she wasn't about to get proven wrong. "I can't describe it but he is just so different around me. He never tries to be anything but himself. Although I got angry at him for the things he says, he normally says them because he's hurt. I just need to find a way to show what he is really like."[/color] She sighed knowing she now needed the mission impossible theme tune to start cranking.

Caroline narrowed her eyes at Stefan to see if he was simply saying that to try and put her off actually ending up with him but then he spoke about supporting it and knew that he was being serious. She sighed and nodded her head. "I know. The only way he'll get anywhere is if I get at last one apology from him. Something to show me he's serious. Plus I want him to apologize to you, what he did to you was unacceptable."[/color] She spoke the words. Care knew she wouldn't let her friendship with Stefan get ruined all because she started to date Klaus. One look at him though made her want to swoon and fan herself like a school girl. She didn't let him know that of course but it was what she was feeling on the inside. She wondered if Stefan felt like that all the time with Elena as well.

She knew she had been a bit judgemental about Rebekah but she had her excuses, the two girls were far too alike and the two of them were starting to become friends. It was a strange world but she figured that the two of them being friends wouldn't really hurt anyone right? "I get it. Everyone is different. I'm guessing you were ripper Stefan back then as well? She tucked a stray curl behind her ear and readjusted her position on the couch. She was perfectly comfortable here with Stefan and knew that she should think about getting to school but what ever, one day wasn't going to hurt her.

Caroline smiled towards Stefan, he was supportive of her and she knew that she would take his advice, she would ring or text him to make sure he wasn't dead in a ditch somewhere. She knew Klaus would be after him no matter what. She sighed and frowned a little at his words. It was weird to think how old Stefan really was let alone Rebekah and Klaus. "That's beyond strange. Well i'm glad your free of it all now. We've missed you and having you back is what we all need. However can you do me a favour?"[/color] She asked wondering if he would do it. She didn't even know if they were still talking. She thought about her new found friendship and was quite happy with it. However other people wouldn't, she was yet to tell Elena although knew it would have to happen at some point soon.

Stefan smiled at her a coy smile. It was funny that she mentioned the look on his face as that was part of their conversation back then. Same old Caroline, this made Stefan feel better as if she could remain how she was and not go all crazy psycho murderous vampire on people, then maybe, just maybe Stefan can return to how he was. How he was before Damon got bit by Tyler. How he was before Klaus made him gorge himself on human blood and kill all those innocent people. Leave it to Caroline to make Stefan feel better inadvertently.

"Just the day that I took you out hunting for the first time. Do you remember?" Stefan replied to her question allowing himself to really smile for the first time in a long time. He smiled at Elena like this often but not as much lately, he couldn't bring himself to just yet, maybe when they have their first date night together in a few days then he might smile like this. He knew Caroline's answer, and of course she remembered it all, if it was important to her as it was to him anyways. "It was the day I decided that we would be good friends." He pointed out.

Not that he never thought of Caroline as someone he could be friends with before that. Stefan just didn't know her well enough back then as a human to be her friend. Stefan wished he had, as she was clearly a good person. But all that mattered was that he knew her now. Stefan liked protecting his loved ones and Caroline would be one of the ones he would lay his life on the line for. Stefan was just glad that she finally, seemingly forgave him for leaving like that, for doing those things, as he wanted all the people he knew to forgive him.

"No, no more parties." Stefan said, remembering the last one, his birthday, turned out horrible for a lot of people. "We are keeping it pretty low key right now. You, Lexi, Elena and probably Damon are the only ones that know for sure right now. I don't know about anyone else." Stefan told her, he wasn't sure if Lexi and Elena were telling people or not. Elena might inform Alaric and Jeremy, just cause they are her family. But it wasn't all over the town yet. News spread really fast in sleepy towns like this, and it is bound to get to Klaus, and they wanted to keep it from him as long as possible.

"I have a plan for Elena. Though if you have any spare candles laying around that would be a big help." Stefan told Caroline. Last he checked his room was pretty empty most of the stuff destroyed. He had to get some new furniture for it but a lot of the stuff was one of a kind or very hard to find. He would just have to make do with a desk, bed and couch for right now. Which was more then he really needed anyways, the rest of it will have to be collected over time again, if he decided to collect it again at all. A lot of it was priceless mementos that he can never get back.

Still he didn't dwell on it, there were more important things, friends and family. "Have you tried Yoga?" Stefan said, joking with her a bit. This was the first time he let himself go since coming back. "Of course I do, a lot of other people do too. You are always there for a lot of people. You want everyone to be happy, and a lot of people respect you for that." Stefan told her. Stefan then began to think about what she could do as an outlet. The only thing that came to mind was find a romance, someone to love and be loved back. That is what kept Stefan calm most days.

Stefan nodded at her comments about Klaus. Though he couldn't see it himself. Stefan knew how Klaus was, probably better then anyone. He had never seen a loving caring side to him back in the 20s or with him in present day. Klaus did seem to like Stefan though, saw him as a brother he guessed. But that was the ripper Stefan, regular Stefan and Klaus would not get along that well. This for some reason made Stefan sad. He wanted to see Klaus be a good guy, to get Caroline and to be liked, not hated of feared. Stefan wondered if they could ever be real friends or not.

He nodded when she spoke about getting angry at Klaus for some of the things he said. Stefan couldn't blame Caroline one bit for this and he couldn't help but make the same comparison for Damon. Damon always said stuff that pissed people off, but it was more the pain off his life speaking, at least Stefan hoped it was. That is why Stefan could never fully bring himself to hate Damon. "I would settle for him apologizing and leaving Elena alone." Stefan told her finally. Stefan really didn't care if Klaus apologized to him, what Klaus did hurt Elena a lot more.

Still, Stefan understood where Caroline was coming from. Truth was, Klaus would have to do more then apologize to Stefan to earn his friendship, he would have to do a personal sacrifice, to prove his intentions. Save someone or help someone when he had no real benefits to gain from it. Unselfish actions from Klaus would gain Stefan's forgiveness. Caroline bringing up ripper Stefan again just made him realize he had a lot of unselfish sacrifice's to make as well before he could expect anyone to forgive him. That was fine to Stefan, he was willing to prove his worth.

"I was probably worse back then." Stefan told Caroline. He knew that was pretty vague, but he didn't want to go into details. "How I was for the last few months was nice compared to back then." He added hoping she caught his drift. "Klaus was, he was a lot like he is now. Maybe a little nicer. Back then he... enjoyed the stuff I did, the people I hurt." Stefan told her. Klaus still liked that, clearly as he wanted Stefan to do it some more. He didn't want to tell Caroline all this cause he didn't want her to think less of Klaus, or himself for that matter, but she needed to know the truth.

"Thanks, Caroline, I am happy to be back." Stefan told her truthfully. Stefan hugged Caroline. "I should go and stop bugging you." Stefan said to her with a smile, some reason, whatever it was, probably cause of Lexi, and how similar Caroline was to her, but Caroline always made Stefan smile. It is why he wanted to help her when she first turned, because of the similarities between his formerly dead best friend and Caroline. "We should grab lunch sometime." Stefan said as he stood up and went to the door. He gave Caroline a quick hug and opened her door and left, glad that she at least seemed to forgive him for all he has done.
