- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Sliding into her car she let out a deep breath. She had just left a job interview at Richmond High School as a clerk in the principal's office. She didn't need a job thanks to her mother and father's life insurance which would allow Jeremy and her to live comfortably for the rest of their lives however she did need it to complete the work study program during her senior year. She was grateful to have worked hard over her first two years of high school which led her to have enough credits to graduate with only taking half days during her senior year. The catch to that was she could do one of two things. She could either take a full semester first semester of senior year and graduate in December or she could go half days all year and graduate with her friends. Anyone who knew Elena knew she would pick option 2.
She had worn a black long sleeved dress with a pair of conservative heels and her normal locket with vervain inside. She knew that should have probably worn a suit or something similar however she felt more herself in the dress than she did in the suit she had put on earlier. It was modest and made her look good so it all worked out. The only thing that disturbed her a tiny bit was the fact that she had to curl her hair to give her a professional look. This used to not bother her however after meeting her ancestor she had stuck to straight hair unless it was unavoidable simply as to not confuse anyone.
Pulling out her cell phone from the middle console of her SUV she turned it back on, noting with relief that she hadn't been in her interview as long as she had originally thought. She still had time to head over to the community center and swim, something she had been dying to do for days now. Elena used to be a swimmer on a swim team but once high school started and she had made the cheerleading squad she quit, not having enough time. Now however she felt as if it would be good for her. Not only for exercise but also in order to loose herself in the water for a few hours a week.
Pulling into the community center she flashed her I.D. before heading to the locker room. Opening her locker that she paid for monthly she slid her phone, keys and heels into it, then quickly stripped off her dress, leaving herself in her black Ralph Lauren Polo bikini. She would usually swim in a one piece when swimming laps however it worked out better to wear this bikini under her swim suit since it fit just like a bra and panties would.
Taking off her necklace last she closed her locker, putting the combination lock back on before heading out to the pool and diving in. Noting with a frown that she would have to share a lane though she couldn’t see from where she had surfaced who she would sharing a lane with. As she waited for her lane partner to swim back to her side of the pool she took the pony tail holder off of her wrist and put her hair up into a pony tail in order to keep it out of her face while she swam.

----------------------- [/b]  -----------------------[/b] April decided that it was time to hit the pool before it closed for the summer and she knew that she needed to get her social life in order before things got too crazy for her and she forgot about everyone. She had been in Mystic Falls for a little over a month and she still hadn’t paid her old friend Elena Gilbert a visit. She sent a text to Jeremy early that morning asking him if his sister was home and he told her that she was going out for an interview. She decided instead of chasing the girl down that she would go down to the pool where Elena and Matt used to take her and Jeremy to when they were kids.
April parked her truck outside the community center and grabbed her I.D. and quickly flashed them and then went to the locker room and opened it up and put her phone, keys, and heels inside and pulled off her dress leaving her in her red and black Phillip Lim Red Ribbon bikini and closed her locker up and made her way out towards the pool. She set her towel down on a bench and walked towards the diving board and pumped her legs to get them going and then dove into the water. She broke to the surface and swam over to the other side of the lane and that’s when she saw Elena. “Well…Long time no see, Mrs. Gilbert,” she teased as she walked over towards Elena and gave her a hug. “I bet you don’t even remember me, do you?” she asked.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She quickly allowed herself to sink under the water before coming up and flipping her head over, pulling her long brown hair up into a high ponytail before taking that and pulling it up into a large messy bun. It wasn’t a style she normally went for but it was perfect for the pool and laying out in the sun. Not that she was laying out in the sun today since it was already some random time of the afternoon and she didn’t plan on being here for that long but she did want to get in some swim time as she hadn’t been working out the past few weeks due to Alaric moving back into his apartment.
She and Jeremy had started out going running a few times a week but then he and Bonnie had gotten back together and he seemed to be spending more and more time with her. Running with Caroline wasn’t going to happen since she’d be around the block three times before Elena made it to the end of the street, and the same went for Lexi, Stefan and Damon…so she was forced to going swimming by herself without anyone knowing about it. She hadn’t even checked in with Stefan or Lexi which she was sure she would hear about alter but she did need an hour to herself every once in awhile and she had decided to take that hour now and work out a little bit. It didn’t help that she had a bunch of nervous energy flooding through her and she really did need an outlet for it.
She turned towards the splash that she heard and was met with a familiar face, one that she hadn’t seen in quite awhile. She pulled the younger girl into a hug and grinned. “Hey April!” She greeted. “I didn’t know you were back in town! Where have you been hiding?” She asked with a laugh, pulling back to see the younger girl. She had filled out since she had seen her last and looked great, something that she was grateful for since she knew her mother’s death had been hard on her and her father. “How have you been? Of course I remember you! I only babysat you for a couple years and considered you to be my adopted baby sister!” She told her, though the word ‘adopted’ left a bitter taste in her mouth, she ignored it as best as she could for now.

----------------------- [/b] -----------------------[/b] April smiled at Elena and hugged her back when she hugged her. She hadn't seen her in a really long time not since her mother's funeral. "Oh you know I've been here and there," she replied. "My dad finally sold our house and decided to move back down here and I've been pretty much avoiding everyone up till now," she added. "I figure Jer would have let it slip that I was back in town."
April pulled her hair back up in a messy ponytail and she listened as Elena began to ramble and couldn't help but smile. She had thought it would be a little awkward since it had been so long since they had seen each other. "I've been doing pretty good and dad has been keeping himself busy with the church and with the council so he is hardly ever home," she replied sadly. She knew her father just needed to keep himself busy to keep his mind off his wife's death. Her father did make sure that she was taken care of nontheless. She did miss her mother, but she knew that she was in a better place. She also knew that she needed to be around other people other than hanging out with vampires.
"How you been doing?" she asked as she looked around the pool as she smiled at Elena. "While we are here how about we do a few laps around the pool? Bet I can beat you," she added with a smirk. This was going to be an interesting day hanging out with Elena.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -It was weird seeing April again after the past few years. She could easily remember the times that she and Matt had watched over the younger girl, though in all actuality she was only about 2 years younger than she and Matt were. However she could easily remember the times that April had gotten into something and then blamed her or Matt for it. Well, actually, she knew that April had always had a crush on Matt so usually she just blamed it on Elena however she had written it off to her being a kid and had never really worried about it before. However to this day it amused her because seeing April all grown up just brought back those memories and they made her smile.
Unfortunately not all the memories that were brought up were good. She could easily remember the fact that the last time she had seen April, her parents had been alive, she and Matt had been together, she hadn’t known that the world was a much more mysterious place than she had ever thought possible and she hadn’t known that her whole life had essentially been one big lie. She hadn’t known she was a doppelganger and hadn’t known she was adopted.
There were days when it just hit her and this was one of them. The fact that her life had changed so much since that fateful night of her parents car accident. She couldn’t regret meeting Stefan because she loved him more than she could possibly even try to explain, but she knew that there were days when her life would be much easier without the supernatural chaos that had become her way of existence. However she couldn’t even say that it was Stefan’s fault because she was the doppelganger, it was her blood that had brought Klaus into town…and one way or another her life would have ended up here…she just wouldn’t have survived it without Stefan.
April’s reply broke her thoughts and she shook her head. “Nah, Jer and I have barely seen each other the past few days as we’ve been busy with school, work and just the relationship drama that is high school relationships.” She stated flippantly, not wanting to get into exactly how serious her relationship was at the current time. “Good to hear that your dad was able to finally sell your house though. I know from the grapevine that he had had some trouble getting someone to buy it.”
She rolled her eyes at April trying to be competitive and smirked. “You’re on.” She stated before not giving her any time to get ready and speeding off in the water, swimming quickly but not as fast as she could. Luckily for her she was tall and lithe, two things that gave her an advantage in the water.
Unfortunately before she could go anywhere she heard a voice come over the loud speaker calling her name. She waved to April quickly alerting her that she was going to go pick up the phone. Once she did she groaned and spoke quickly before hanging up. Walking over to the lane she whispered to her old friend quickly. "I have to get going. Jeremy's car broke down. Call me at home sometime this week and we'll get together." She told her before making her way quickly into the dressing room to make her way to help her brother.
Couldn't things ever be simple?
