---------------------- ---------------------- It was a full house tonight, it seemed like everyone from town was here. But that’s what happens when the grill has a two for one meal special. Jeremy was running around like crazy waiting tables wishing that he wasn’t here. He all ready was behind on school work and on top of that he was worried sick about his sister. Wondering how she was doing with Lexi, they had been working to get the brothers humanity back. Jeremy didn’t get what was so great about these guys, but there were important to his sister so that was enough for him. He was backing Elena up all the way on this.
Jeremy walked to each table bring them there order, they were a bit short staffed tonight so he pretty much had been doing it all. Working the bar a bit, cleaning tables, waiting tables, there wasn’t anything he wasn’t doing. Tonight he was doing it all, he pretty much was running this place. But not alone he did have his good friend Matt working with him tonight. Thank god now he didn’t have to go crazy alone.
After he tray was empty from dropping off the orders he made his way back over to the bar, picking up more orders that needed to be taken. He noticed Matt busy as always working his butt off, he was good at what he does and didn’t play around. All though he was the kind of guy that liked to keep busy. That way he didn’t have to think about everything else that was around them. He really hated all that was going on with Elena and wished he could do something. But he couldn’t he was forced to watch his friend go through it all, Jeremy really does honor that he has always had his sister back like that.
He walked over to his pal seeing if he needed any help. “Hey man how you holding up, you as tired as I am?” He asked him.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Matt was working his rear off to make sure that no one was waiting for too long. His section was hopping and he found himself having to conserve movements by dropping orders off and picking them up in groups making sure that each table got its food while it was still hot. Exhaling he loaded his tray up with drinks and made his way back to the tables that needed them. He passed people their sodas, coffees and beers and then was back dropping off order slips on the slip wheel.
He dodged past another waiter as he loaded his tray up for a third round looking at Jeremy and nodding, giving his signature grin to his best friend, "I'm dead beat but I'll survive." he admitted as he walked with his friend back into the fray. "Hey look at it this way. Its busy work but its normal busy work. That counts for something." he said as they moved past each other.
Dropping another drink off he began to clean an empty table to make sure it was freed up for customers. Stacking dirty dishes and cups he had a moment to himself to think. Elena was trying to help Stefan and had been busy this last week on some project that Matt was glad he didn't know much about. "Has Elena told you how she's doing? She's been so busy we've not had time to catch up." he said as he lifted up the bin of dishes and brought it to the back so the dishwashers could clean them. He moved quickly back to the floor, wiping the table down and placing fresh silverware on it for the next batch of customers.
He took a breath as the crowd seemed happy for the moment and paused with Jeremy making sure that he had a clean rag on his apron strings to bus tables with. He stretched a moment and watched the floor to see who needed what.

---------------------- ---------------------- Jeremy could tell that Matt was tired, but so was he Jeremy couldn’t wait to get home and take a load off. Maybe play some xbox and listen to some music, but then again maybe he would just sit relax and draw a bit. Something that Jeremy didn’t get to do to much anymore, which was driving him nuts because that was the way he let go of stress. Just him, his ear buds, and his note pad, an ending to a great day. But then again he wondered if Matt needed to get away for a bit and talk? They really had not gotten to do that much anymore, just them chilling out.
He could tell that Matt was beat and working his ass off, but that’s how he is when he works. He didn’t mess around and he got the job done, which was why Jeremy liked worked with him. “Yeah it is normal I will give you that, but at lest we are keeping busy it will make time go by a bit faster for us. I just want this day to be over you know.” he told him. “Hey you know maybe after work we could hang out, want to?” Jeremy went back to wiping off the bar trying to keep it clean, it would make it a lot easier for when it was time to close down.
He could tell that Matt was worried for Elena, he had been asking a lot of questions recently. Jeremy really appreciated how much he still cared for her, he even kind of missed them being together. Matt was always good to Elena, plus things seemed a lot sampler then. “Yeah she is doing ok, I’m not so sure how things are going with Stefan But really she is my only concern. Don’t tell her this but I wish she would just let him go, not that I don’t like Stefan I do but I hate how much she is hurting threw all this you know. She all ready has been through a lot losing my mom and dad.” He told him.
He was right though they did all need to catch up soon, just like they use to when they all hang out. But then again Jeremy knew that really Matt really just wanted some time with her. “You know we do all need to hang soon, I will let Elena know to call you. How that sound?” He asked him whiling putting away the dishes.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -The one nice thing about working with friends is that you got in a rythm where you could work and talk at the same time. As he put the latest batch of dishes in the dishwasher he listened to what Jer had to say. He actually just missed hanging out like he used to before all this mess with the Salvatores and their friends went down. He missed doing normal things like going to parties and just hanging out. Now, everything had this weird supernatural edge to it and he hated it. It was like you couldn't buy a hotdog without someone dropping dead in this town. It just sucked.
He needed to get out of here after school but he was flat broke or near to and his grades had taken a dive since the start of the semester. He was still wondering why they didn't boot him off the football team but he figured they needed him too badly to do that. He really needed to get out of this downer funk he was in, "Yeah its a killer day alright. I think hanging out would be great." he nodded with a smile as he rinsed off another batch of dishes before loading it into the dishwasher.
"I totally get that. Stefan can be nice but all the drama is just too much. After a while somethings gotta give and I'm afraid that its just the start of something really bad." He exhaled and shook his head, "Sorry, not trying to worry you or be all weird its just...Elena will always be my friend no matter what happened and I hate seeing her go through something she shouldn't have to. I mean Stefan should be handling his own issues not dragging her into them on top of what you guys have already been through. Its just not right, man." He turned on the dishwasher and proceeded to set the back room to rights.
"April wants me to take her to the Miss Mystic Falls pageant, but we need to practice the dances. Would you have any time free? I mean I know there is school and stuff but April wants to practice and I think we need more people to do that." He wasn't going to say that he felt odd with April asking him out given that Jeremy was the same age as April or close enough to but it got really odd for him, "Maybe you and Bonnie could pair up for the practice?" he offered hopefully.
He nodded to the comment of hanging out together, "Yeah that would be cool. We could hang out at the park or something where there is shade." In the heat of the Virginian summer you needed to find shade. It was too hot to be out in the humidity without it. Grabbing a clean rag he went out to grab another round of orders but was back quickly and putting them on the turn table for the cook.

---------------------- ---------------------- Jeremy knew that Matt needed to have some fun, forget about all that was around them for a bit. He knew it was good for Matt to hang out with the one real normal friend that he did have, well sort of anyway other then the visions that Jeremy was having, but now ever since Bonne worked her spell thing have been OK. Jeremy is yet to see something from the supernatural, but never say never with there luck and there lives anything can happen at any giving moment.
Jeremy cleaned up the grill while he did dishes, he could tell that Matt was happy to hear they be getting out for a bit. Which was good they both could use this with all the craziness that had been going on lately. "Tell you what man I will buy the drinks tonight, how does that sound?" He asked him. He figured he make this night even better for him seeing that he needed it. "We are going to have a good time tonight you watch, we will forget about everything else that had gone on, you will see."
He was right the drama with Stefan was a bit much more then Jeremy liked to take in, but he knew how much his sister really cared for him. Which was why he was doing everything he could to help her through this time. He knew how much Matt still cared for his sister, which was why all this was a bit much for him. "Don't worry man I understand and I don't blame you, you are right Stefan should deal with this himself. But Elena just feels she has to help him, she drags herself into this." Said Jeremy.
He was happy to hear that Matt was going to take April to the Mystic Falls pageant, he felt so bad that he couldn't take her. But he just couldn't do that to Bonnie with them just getting there relationship right where they wanted it. "I think that's great that you are taking her, I was hoping that someone was going to she really is a great girl.I wish so much that I could have taken her but I couldn't do that to Bonnie." He Explained. " He didn't blame Matt at all for wanting to get this dancing just right, it can be nerve racking. "Sure man Bonnie and me can help you, she is great at it. She made me a way better dancer, I wouldn't be anywhere with out her."
"Sounds good to me man!" Jeremy then did the same as Matt going to the next table to take a order, it seems like just why they may calm down they get busy all over again. It was pure Madness how nuts this place was. Walking back into the Kitchen placing his orders for the cook as well. "Man will this place ever slow down." He asked him while letting out a breath.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -"Sounds like a deal, man. I'll buy the pizza." he said with a smile wanting to contribute where he could. It will be great." he nodded before he went back out to take some more orders. They were in a good rhythm where they could get things done and chat. Matt answered questions, refilled drinks and came back, emptying his pockets of some of the numbers he got handed. Being popular meant that a lot of folks wanted to hang out with him and he was usually easy going but with all the craziness he just wanted to keep the possible risk to people down and that meant keeping his social circle smaller than he might have liked had they lived in a normal town.
"Your sister has a big heart. Its one of the things I've always liked about her. We'll just have to keep an eye out and be there if she needs us." he agreed as he tossed some dirty rags in the laundry and grabbed some clean ones for his next batch of table cleaning. Livin' the life in Mystic Falls. Gotta love it.
"No worries, Jer. Bonnie's great and I'm glad she has someone to go with. Its good for April to get out more I think. She doesn't know a lot of people and it would be good for her to socialize." Honestly he didn't want things to be weird. April was fixating on him and while it was flattering she needed to be able to click with the group too. That meant meeting with Bonnie, Elena and Caroline and doing girl stuff as much as it meant hanging out with him. The only way that was going to happen was if she actually made an effort to socialize more often. "I just want her to meet the girls, have a place to belong. She deserves that. I figure we all know what its like to lose someone so maybe we can help."
"This place doesn't slow down when there is a special. Normally, slow as molasses." he nodded in agreement as he went to go see Mrs. Henderson. She was elderly and partially deaf and could hear Matt's vocal range easier than others. Plus, Matt reminded her of her son she lost in the war so she said. He nodded, taking time to kneel down next to her chair and make sure her order was right. She tipped really well and the rotary club occasionally had functions at the grill so it helped to take the extra time. Once she let him go he hurried back with her order.

---------------------- ---------------------- Matt buying the pizza sound good to Jeremy, all though any food sounded a lot better then this shit. He is so tired of eating this bar food to the point he could puke. But what you expect he works there plus its a big place to hang after school, everyone goes and eats there enough as is. There had been a lot of good and bad times here at the grill though, so many memories and things that had happened. "Yeah man Pizza sounds good to me, maybe wash it down with some beers as well." He said with a smile.
Matt is always so sweet about Elena he always has been, he know that it still kills him deep down that they aren't with each other. He knows that if he could he would be with her in a heart beat if she let him, but sadly for some reason they didn't work out and now she is with a vampire. Which sounds so weird to be thinking or even saying out loud, but sadly as much as Jeremy hates to admit it Stefan is a good guy when he isn't going all ripper on everyone. Which is why he hopes he gets better and him and Elena can go back to being happy with each other, being the happy couple that they love to be. Jeremy just hope that Matt will be OK with all of it over time.
Jeremy thought it was great that April and him had been seeing each other, she really needed something to get her mind off of everything. Plus Jeremy was really starting to worry that she wouldn't find someone to go with. "I know what you mean April does need to get out more, she also needs to hang out more with people. I told her more then once to give Elena a call. But then again I know my sister has had other things on her mind recently, so that doesn't help. I need to tell Elena to give her a call." Said Jeremy
Jeremy looked at the time and noticed that soon the place would be closing, he knew he needed to grab some of the tables that needed to be cleaned. Plus he needed to lock the door here soon that way they could take care of there last minute customer and not get anymore. But like that was ever easy for them. "Hey man door is locked this get these last minute orders to we can head home man." He called to Matt heading to kitchen.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Matt helped Jer finish up the last of the orders and set the tables to rights after the last patron had gone home. It really didn't take much because they had done it like a hundred times. Sighing he looked at the clock and ordered pizza for them while Jeremy went and got the brews. He made sure that they had paper plates and napkins so they wouldn't leave a mess when it finally came time for him to stagger back to his place.
He wouldn't be so disrespectful as to leave a mess, it just wasn't in his character to do that to someone. When the pizza guy showed up he tipped him well and joked with him for a few minutes. He was on the team and just trying to make money so he could afford prom. Matt could totally get that. He needed to save up for whomever he decided to take. Most likely he'd ask April when the time was right. He just wanted things to be chill between them.
Taking the pizza and opening it the smell of melted cheese and pepperoni teased his nose. Man, this beat burgers hands down. Being careful not to burn himself he made sure to give Jer two huge slices and a side of parmigiana. Food of the gods, man. He passed Jer his plate and took his brew, the sound of the bottle opener echoing in the empty house as he waited for Jer to decide what he was up for. Call of Duty was always a good choice as was resident evil. Movies were cool too. At some point he needed to catch Pacific Rim if he could afford it. Robots and monsters for the win man.
"So, got anything on your mind?" He asked as he paused in his devouring of the deep dish monstrosity he'd ordered.

---------------------- ---------------------- Jeremy helped Matt clean up the rest of the bar that way they could get the hell out of there, he was tired and was ready to go some. Plus he was off tomorrow which he couldn't lie was pretty happy about. He needed a break plus he had a enough home work to keep him busy so he didn't need work as well. Matt was taking care of the pizza while Jeremy got the beers along with what they would need. He couldn't lie he could eat after a busy night like this, so he hoped the pizza didn't take too long.
Soon after he had made it back it seemed as though they pizza had gotten there, he could smell it through out the house it smelled so good. He walked over sitting down setting down the beers, handing one to Matt has he handed him a slice of pizza. He took the piece trying not to burn himself it felt so hot. "Man this smell so good, I'm starving!!" He said while taking a bite of the pizza. "Man this Pizza isn't bad, I don't know about you but I'm getting tired of the food at the grill. I mean I eaten there so much can you blame me.
He asked Jeremy if he had anything on his mind, and really he did he didn't know where to began really. Plus he really didn't want to be a buzz kill right now. Seeing that they were trying to have a nice fun guys night. "You know man the same old same old. Worried about my sister, school, Alaric. It just seems like things never end and can be normal for us." He said. "I really wish things could go back they way they use to be. You know when my parents and Aunt Jenna weren't dead." Jeremy liked the fact he could talk to Matt and tell him anything, he was like his best friend so he knew that he would understand.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Matt took the beer that Jer offered him and took a swig, feeling the cold beer cool his parched throat and blend with the taste of pepperoni and pizza, the combination oddly soothing after working in a place known for its burgers and fries. “I hear ya. Hamburgers should be eaten occasionally, not every day. I think the only thing that has stayed the same in this town is the food. Everything else is just too up in the air. It used to be you knew where you stood but now you just don’t know if the stranger in town is a vampire or something else.”
He sighed and took another swig of his beer, “Listen to me, I sound like my grandparents complaining. I don’t mean to sound like an ass but its true. It sucks to be looking over your shoulder so you don’t become a meal for someone else. We shouldn’t have to do that, Jer. No one should have to.” He sighed, “Why don’t we see if Fight Club is on Netflix? Gotta be better than worrying about stuff we can’t change you know?” he suggested to try and boost the mood of the night from the buzz kill it was turning into. “I’m glad you and Bonnie have each other man. I’d like to find that with someone some day.” He said as he grabbed the remote and typed in the movie name unless Jer offered something else to entertain them. One thing good about the movie is it made you feel better about yourself. After all you had a better life than the guy in the movie so it was a win.
He took another bite of pizza from his slice and dipped the pizza crust end into ranch dressing. He grew up poor and you couldn’t afford to waste food in his house so he always made a point of not leaving things behind. Of course he worked all the junk food off. He was on the football team so he was not going to let himself go. They needed him too much.

---------------------- ---------------------- There was nothing like this cold beer along with the Pizza, it really was what he needed after a hard day like this or week like this. He took a swing of his beer washing down some of the pizza he had eaten, trying to wash away some of the hotness he had going on his mouth. But that happened when you put hot peppers on your Pizza, what he expect really. He did agree where Matt was coming from there weren't many things in this town that had stuck anymore, everything was so different now and humans well it didn't seem like there were many around anymore. It seemed like every one he knew and loved had become one. It made Jeremy sacred to think who he could lose next.
"Yeah I get what you mean man, sometime when I'm out in public I wonder if the man standing in line in front of me is a vampire. Or mail carrier that comes to my house, or even worse my doctor. I mean you never know who could be what." Said Jeremy taking another drink from his beer. He was right it wasn't fair that they had to live in a world where they worried for every moment of there lives. Wondering if they could get bit or attack at any moment, it really wasn't a way that you should live your life. "No man I get what you mean and you have a point it isn't fair I wish there was something we could do about it. Maybe we should start training and working out, learning to feel a bit more prepared.
He then had a great idea to watch fight club which happened to be one of Jeremy favorite movies. "Yeah that sounds like a good pick to me, I have not seen that movie in a while so I'm down." Said Jeremy. He then felt bad when Matt said he hoped to find that as well, which He knew Matt didn't need to worry. He knew that here shortly it would happen for him. He was to nice for it never to happen, plus he knew that Apil was really starting to like him.
All the sudden Jersey's cell phone began to go off, he looked and it was a text from Elena. It seemed that tonight she wasn't feeling good and wanted Jeremy to stay with Matt. "Hey Elena wants me to crash here tonight, it seems she don't feel well. Which tells me that something is going on, like Stefan must be over just what I want after how he has been." Said Jeremy with a discussed look.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -"Yeah especially with daylight rings. You just didn't know what was going to happen when even the vampires walked around during the day. It could be really mind boggling when you didn't know where you stood with stuff. Still, he did his best to enjoy as normal a life as he could. He felt like he was living in a Tim Burton movie lately with all the grim stuff that had been going on and it didn't help that he couldn't talk to anyone about it because most of them were supernatural in nature. He chewed his food silently for a moment as Jer spoke about training and working out.
"Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. We should at least be willing to defend ourselves." he thought about the workout program he'd need to do to get himself in some sort of shape. He had some free time in his free period and it was right after gym so maybe he could work out then too on top of after and before school. He could divote a few Saturdays to the firing range and increasing his aim when he needed to. "Did you want to train together or separate?" he asked as he glanced over at his friend and took another sip of his brew.
He shrugged, "Fine with me, man. Guest room is open and clean. I think I've got a shirt you can borrow for school tomorrow." he offered as he turned on Fight Club and they watched the introduction. The movie was strangely relaxing. Not because of its content but because it was just an ordinary night with his bud and that was what was needed now. The ability to relax and enjoy himself was key.

---------------------- ---------------------- Jeremy thought it would be a great idea for them to try and train, in this town it wasn’t a dumb idea at all. You have to be ready to defend yourself, stop whoever might try to get the jump on you. Plus he was all his sister had to keep her safe, that was a nother big reason he wanted to learn to fight. He had though about asking Alaric but lately he had been busy with other things. Plus he had been down missing Jenna, so he really didn’t want to bug him. “Yeah us learning to train could be the best idea that we do.” Said Jeremy
He knew that Matt would be the best to help him seeing that he was in pretty good shape. So he couldn’t think of anyone better to train with, plus he knew that Matt would want to buff up a bit more as well. “I think we should train together a bit, maybe spar some you know. But you know Elena gave me a really nice bow for Christmas, we could learn to shoot that a bit. Being good shots with vampire in this town is not a bad skill to have you know.”
He was happy to hear that he could stay there for a bit, he did want to get away for while and have some guy time. Maybe tonight was the best time for that. “Thanks man I really appreciate it, even thought I’m sure Elena it full of it.” Said Jeremy. “But I’m happy chilling here anyway watching a movie, I cant worry all the time you know I will drive my self nuts if I don’t ever take it easy. I’m sure Elena is watching out for herself, well I hope so anyway.”

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Matt nodded to his friend as he chewed on a slice of pizza. His thoughts going to what he needed to do to make sure they had time to train and such. "Yeah, I've got enough that I can get a crossbow to practice with. We just need to find a place to practice so we can get half way decent and not shoot each other on accident." he said with a joking tone to lighten the mood and settle it a bit more. He grabbed a napkin and wiped his face of the pizza sauce. A contented sigh coming from him as he paused to listen to what Jer had to say next.
"Yeah we can spot each other and spar it will help with dealing with vampires." he nodded as he thought about what he needed to fight vampires, "Do you know how to make stakes? I never got the hang of it." he admitted sheepishly, "I was okay with power tools in wood shop but whittling kind of looses me." he admitted as he looked at him with a chuckle then took a swig of beer to wash the slice down. He decided to slow down on consuming the pizza and sat back in the couch as the movie played.
"Yeah well its good to get out of the house. I'm sure she's fine." he said with a reassuring nod as he looked over at his best friend. He was happy to help his friend out when he could. He wanted him to have someplace to go when he needed it. That was what friends did for each other. They had worked past the awkwardness of Elena and he breaking up and her dating Stefan so now they could be friends without any weirdness messing things up. He sipped his beer as he thought about what they might do in the next few days that they had off, they could go out to the woods and practice a bit with no one the wiser. It was a good idea and they could grill up some steaks for dinner or something.

---------------------- ---------------------- Yeah they did need to find a place to practice, they needed lots of room for Jeremy’s bow. Last thing they needed was to shoot one another on accident, it wouldn’t be a good thing for ether one of them. “Mystic Falls Cemetery would be a good place for us to, its nice and open not many people out there. Plus lots of trees great for target practice, which is something we will need. Man I‘m dying to shot the thing I got, I have not used it since I got it.” Said Jeremy.
Jeremy wasn’t bad a carving things, he was pretty good in wood shop so he knew that he could make a few stakes with ease. “Yeah I can make some stakes no problem, so if you want me to make us some to practice with I can. Hell I could even show you a thing or two as well, its not that hard to carve them.” He then took another bite of his pizza, finishing it off along with his beer. He knew that Elena wouldn’t be happy if she knew he was drinking, but he really needed this night to kick back. Things lately had been so crazy and stressed, it was nice to have this time with Matt.
He knew that Elena was probably fine but it didn’t change the fact that he was still going to worry. He couldn’t live with out his sister, nor does he even want to think about Life with out her. “Yeah I guess you are right, Alaric did train her pretty good. I don’t know I guess with my family past luck I still cant help but be worried you know.” He said while getting up to get them a few more beers, and another slice of pizza.
