------------------ ------------------ Okay... so they were on the move. That would ease her nerves a bit. At least when she was moving about, she felt better. Staying in one place always creeper her out. It was amazing she was able to sleep for a full 6 and a half hours and not wake up in some weird place. The more they walked the more Annie would relax... only they were not walking to where they were going. They soon came to a car. Not good. Nope... not good at all. How dumb would she be to really get herself into that car. An older man, luring a pretty little young women into a car. Pst. She can see it on the news now. Of course Annie would cut off his hands if he ever got to close. But still.... could she really trust him with her life? Cars always freaked her out. To many things can go wrong in a car, anyway, if she's not driving she not in control... and that means her life was in his hands. Could she really give him that power? Was it worth it?
She just kind of stood at the front of the car, as he moved around back. When he asked about her bag, she shook her head, brining it around to hang on her shoulders in front of her. She clutched it tightly to her chest. No no... she'd keep it with her. Again too many things can go wrong in a car. She'd rather be safe... well as safe as someone can get. Still she just stood there watching as he pulled the car door open for her. Still she was still. Only when he got in and motioned for her to follow, did she step to the car door. "Can we walk?" She questioned, leaning into the car, but still far enough away that it would be a fight to get her in. She was very clearly being cautious. Annie did not like cars. She did not trust them, or people. By getting into that car, she'd be giving up a lot of control, she'd let someone call the shots. She'd be a helpless little girl really. That made her want to run.
When he spoke, she took it as more of a challenge. "I'm not backing out!" She spat, as she quickly climbed into the car, and put her belt on, still clutching her back pack to her chest. Yeah this would stay where it was, safe on her lap. She glanced over at him, still not sure. But she was not going to back down from that challenge, even if he did not mean it as one. She took it as a challenge and only the weak backed out of such things. Annie was too prideful to back away from this situation, even know, on paper it looked really really dumb.
She just kind of narrowed her eyes, as her hand grabbed the wrist on her other arm. Her fingers toying with something inside the hem of her sleeve. It was a knife of course, her weapon of choose. It was clear she did not trust him. He never said she had to. But for now... in this tinny car, where he could kill her with a simple turn of the wheel. She waited. Watching, ready reach out and take the wheel if needed or even kill him, if that meant saving herself from death. Annie was not ready to die. She still had so much she wanted to do, to see, to kill. She was determined to not die in this car... not today. If she was going to die, she'd be in her element, she'd be in a battle, thats for sure.
The ride was... well uneventful. Yep. Did she feel like an ass hole now.... pretty much staring him down, eying him, watching his every move. CREEPY! But could you really blame her? Society said she, as a young girl, should not get into a car with a stranger, and he was very much a stranger. Sure he hunted.... and that's all she knew about him. He bleeds.... so he must be human. Yep. Still a stranger. But she just could not help herself. This was not easy on her, this was down right hard, and she knew how it would end. Her leaving before she could get kicked out, for being an annoying independent brat, who pushed everyone away.
It did not take very long for Alaric to pull his car up to a house. She finally turned her attention away from the driver, and to the house. Well... now she regretted watching him the whole time. She should have watched the road, paid attention to where they were so she can... well find her way back to wherever she wanted to go. sure she has a map, but a map will do you no good if you have no idea where you are. Annie does not have one of those cool phones. Well okay so she does have an i-phone, her internet is just not quite working on it. She kind of needs to update that plan of hers. Assuming she can find a credit card to use. Not that anyone would help her if she called. But hey. It was always good to have, even if it never has rung. Not since her parents death.
But still where the heck was she? Not like she could really turn back now. They had already made it to the house. So she was here. Might as well stay. Blinking a few times she pushed down on the button, letting her seat belt shrink back to it's resting position. It took her only a second to find the door handle, and pretty much jump from the car, taking a big old step away from it. God she hated cars, unless she was driving, and that did not happen often. With a sigh, she just followed along. Her back pack now strapped to her back, not her front, her hand still playing with the blade attached to the hem of her shirt. Yep. She did not want to use it, but it was there, and it relaxed her at least a little to know she was protected.

Alaric knew how weird it seemed. A grown man inviting a 14 year old into his car. But he wasn't like that, all he wanted was to show that she didn't have to push people away, that there were some good people left in this world, people that Annie could trust. He glanced over at her a few times, she stared at him the whole time, he kinda felt uncomfortable.
Did she expect him to attack her or something? Alaric sighed, this girl was so damaged and un-trusting. He was a teacher, and he knew the looks he got from some people for his relationship with Elena, even though he was only her guardian and nothing more and he would never be with her like that, rather she had Stefan or not, still people frowned upon it. It didn't bother Alaric one bit, they can think whatever they want, he loved Elena, but like a daughter.
Alaric wanted to grow to love Annie to. But she wouldn't make it easy on him. He wondered if she would let him adopt her. Yeah, just go on and be one big happy family with Elena, Jeremy, Jenna, Annie and himself. A messed up, mix-matched family, but still, a family none the less. Alaric had the feeling Annie wouldn't let it be that easy. "So, what kind of food you like, I'm a good cook if I don't say so myself." Alaric said trying to ease the tension in the car.
He pulled up to the Gilbert driveway and smiled at her. Alaric got out of his car and walked to the other side and Annie was already out of the car. He nodded and walked up to the doorway of the house he once called home. He had a key when Jenna was gone, but he gave it back, saying that with her here he should have to be invited in. She was there legal legal guardian and he only did it cause she was gone.
Alaric really didn't want to fight Jenna on the matter, he just felt safer with less keys around the better for their house. Maybe someday if he ever fully moved in with them, he would gladly take the key back, but for now, he decided not to have it. Alaric sighed and knocked on the door, hoping that Jenna would answer, as it might be easier for her to help him talk to Elena and Jeremy about the situation.
The door opened, and it was not Jenna, it was Elena. "Hey Elena." Alaric said to her with a smile. So this was the moment he was both dreading and excited for, how everyone would react to Annie. "Annie, this is Elena, she is a really great person." Alaric began. "and Elena, this is Annie, it is ok if we come in?" He spoke to both of them. Alaric knew this probably seemed like the oddest thing in the world, but this was Mystic Falls, it was in the towns DNA for odd things to happen.

[/IMG] - - - - - - - - - - -Thinking plus Elena was dangerous these days. She seemed to zone out on her thoughts and that was not a good thing when you were constantly in danger. Alaric had made it his mission in life (or at least his sober life which was rare anymore since he was always either drunk or hung-over) to get her focused on the things around her and the thoughts she could control instead of those that she couldn’t. However here she was, zoning out while staring at the turn table of her microwave. She watched as it went round and round and almost started theorizing about how a microwave was like life when the beeping of it turning off woke her out of her stupor.
She quickly opened the microwave and pulled out the bag of popcorn that had been popping, wincing as the top of the bag burned her fingers. Opening it gently and pouring it into a large bowl she went over and grabbed some spray butter, spraying it generously on top of the popped kernels. She and Jeremy had decided to stay in for once and have a brother/sister movie night. Alaric was out with Damon doing…something. She really didn’t want to know what they were doing; it would most likely scar her. Lexi was supposed to be back later as she had gone to talk to Stefan though god only knew how that would work.
As she walked back into her room where she and Jeremy were set up she grinned at Jeremy who was seated on the chair next to her bed waiting for her to bring in the food. “I have snacks.” She stated with a laugh before putting the popcorn down next to Jeremy. “I’m going to get sodas.” She stated before darting back into the kitchen and grabbing two Pepsi’s and walking back into the living room. She handed her younger brother a bottle of soda and then sat down, grabbing a large pillow and smushing it down to make herself a bit of a desk on her lap, not wanting butter to get all over her favorite (and very comfortable) pair of jeans.
As soon as she sat down the doorbell rang and she groaned. “You answer it, I’m comfortable.” She told him with a laugh before snuggling with a huge pillow, smiling at her younger brother. Unfortunately he threw a piece of popcorn at her so she stood up with a glare. She groaned and stood up, making her way towards the door, her eyes widening as she took in the weirdness of Alaric standing with some young girl. She couldn’t call her a kid since her eyes shown with a lot of wisdom but she was still younger. “Uh…Hey Ric?” She asked curiously before being introduced to the young girl whose name was Annie. “Hi Annie.” She stated before rolling her eyes at Alaric. “You really need to just take a key.” She stated before moving out of the way and signaling for them to come in though not saying the words.

---------------------- ---------------------- Jeremy got a blanket and a pillow for Elena, he knew that she was always one to get cold during the movie. He really didn’t feel getting up a whole bunch for her, even though he knew he would have to for something anyway he just didn’t know what yet. Jeremy grabbed the movie that he had picked out for Elena to put it in, but when he opened it up it wasn’t what he had picked out for her. It was the dark night one Jeremy’s favorite movies, he knew that Elena must have switch it that out for him. Because he had picked out the notebook for her, but that was Elena always trying to do things for her brother.
Jeremy put the movie in the DVD player and sat back down to get comfortable, he sat there waiting for Elena to come with the popcorn but she was taking forever as always. “Come on Elena what is taking you so long? I‘m going to start it without you if you don’t hurry up” Jeremy asked joking around. He sat there waiting patiently for her to come back all ready to watch the movie, till finally Elena had came in holding popcorn and snacks. Elena then had to get sodas. “Oh come on Elena we are going to be dead by the time we watch this move, and with our luck it could happened.” Said Jeremy.
Elena had came back and sat down, and right when she did someone was at the door. She then had asked him to get it for her, Jeremy gave her annoyed look throwing a piece of popcorn and said. “You should get it, I’m sure its for you anyway, it probably one of your friends what you want to bet!’ he said with a smile. He decided to be nosey and follow his sister to the door, these days with everything it was better to be safe then sorry. Making there way over to the door, Elena opened it to find Alaric with what looked like a young girl. He was a bit lost to who this was and what was going on. “Hey Rick.” He then gave the girl he was with a small smile. “Hey Annie I’m Jeremy.” He was a bit confused last he checked Alaric didn’t have any kids, but then again maybe there was something that he didn’t know.

------------------ ------------------ God the car ride was almost unbearable for Annie. She made a mental note to never ever get into a car again. She'd much rather walk. She did not care how far, but she'd like to keep her feet on the ground. This was just so risky. And when he spoke. It just got weird. Did he think they were friends? Annie was really just using him for a place to stay and a meal not out of a vending machine. He must have other ideas. What kind of question was that anyway? What kind of food did she like? Food was food. Annie did not eat for pleasure she ate to stay alive. So whatever food she was given she'd eat. Simple as that. So she just shrugged. At least she was no long glaring at him full force. It was more of a simmer, mile glare really. Nothing he can handle. But still her hand kept firmly on the knife.
She could not thank the heavens enough when she found herself at the door step. She half wondered where she might sleep for the night. Not that she slept at night. But still. Would she be in her own room? Free to come and go? Or would she be stuck on a sofa, a burden to every normal person in that house. Annie slept during he day. So she was gonna be out and about at night. Maybe not this night, not if she was going to get to know the people she'd be sleeping around. Annie trusted no one. So to allow herself to sleep in an unknown house... it was risky. But she did not have much of a choice. It was better then the park bench.
The door was pulled open. She held the handle to one of her knifes so tightly, her knuckles began to turn white. The knife was still hidden by her shirt, her back pack safe on her back in case she needed it. The girl at the door seemed harmless. And she looked human for all she could tell. Blinking a few times she turned to Alric when he told her Elena was a good person. A good person to whom? Him maybe. Well Annie has yet to meet a good person. Annie herself was not good. She killed things. Sure these things were 'evil' and killed humans, but they had to eat too right? It's all relative. And she may see it as the right thing to do, kill a vampire or whatever. But really... was it right? Vampires were people once, sure they eat them now, but it's just like any parasite. It does what it has to do to stay alive. Annie just makes it harder for them to do so. But that does not mean she's a good person, nor does it mean she's right for killing them. Still it was her job, and she did what she was raised to do. Kill.
Wait.. there was more? A male came to the door, and Annie thought she might just turn and walk her happy butt to the park. It was a big house and all, but for real? Annie was under the impressions that it was his house.... and he was just chatting up his friends... his very young friends. Curious. He must like them young? The though gave her a chill, but she mentally shook it off. Old people creeper her out, not that he was that old. but he was at the top of her list in terms of age. Annie did not tend to talk to people much older then her, they always made her feel like crap. She'd never speak to anyone younger. but one you hit about 35-40, it was time to do your thing and let go. Annie was sure she would not make it to her 40's which suited her just fine.
Annie looked back to Alaric for a moment before letting herself into the house. Well she was already kind of invited. Blinking a few times she looked around the hall way thing they were standing in. It was a nice house. Annie took great care to keep everyone in her line of sight. She would fall back and follow if she had to, but she would not allow anyone to stand behind her. Not yet. She was not at that trust. Not here. Again, creepy old guy, showing up to a house with two younger people. Not what you'd normally see. And with the whole you need to get a key comment, Annie was pretty sure they were not related. Or he'd already have a key.
With a small sigh, Annie finally turned her attention to the women, called Elena. "Ugh, Hey." She awkwardly responded. Yeah, it was safe to say this was a whole new situation. One she was not so sure she wanted to be in at the moment. "So...." Annie added looking towards the male for a moment. "Your all related? One big adorable happy family?" Annie questioned, as she fixed the straps to her dirty old back pack. Yeah she was a dryfter it was clear by her not so clean clothing, and her old back pack which has seen much better days. At least her hair was nice, and she was able to shower so she was not that offensive. Annie just pulled the straps to her back pack tighter. In case it came to anything, her back pack would not be in her way. It was tight enough that it would not fall off, no matter what crazy stunt she pulled. Assuming she was going to fight for her life. Not that she felt she needed to...yet. But her hand found the hem of her shirt very very interesting.

Maybe Ric was being paranoid about the whole key thing. He probably should have a key, but with Jenna being back and all, he didn't want to force it on them. Alaric and Jenna were close and spent a lot of nights together, and she even gave him a drawer in her dresser and in her bathroom, but he wasn't quite moved in yet. And the topic had not really come up yet between him and Jenna.
He didn't want to force it on her, or any of them. They were like family to him, as he was to them, but he also knew that they had real parents that they probably missed and he didn't want to seem like he was trying to replace them when he could not, he could never replace them, and didn't really want to try. So it was gonna have to be a conversation that they had together as a group, if they wanted him to stay there all the time, get rid of his apartment and move in full time.
"Yeah, Elena, maybe someday." He spoke to her, it wasn't the issue of the night, it was the girl. "Hey Jeremy." Alaric said spotting Jeremy finally. Alaric watched as Annie finally entered and he went in as well, she seemed nervous and didn't like the relationship he had with Jeremy and Elena. It was fine, he got constant talks behind his back and murmurs even from other teachers. But it seriously wasn't like that. He loved them like family, and it would never be anything different.
"Is Jenna home?" Alaric asked Elena. He was getting the feeling that this was a bad idea but oh well, this girl needed help, rather she wanted to admit it or not. He just hoped she wasn't some insane axe murdered that wanted to kill them all in their sleep. "I am their legal, well former legal guardian." Alaric replied to Annie. He really didn't even know how to describe himself any more, they had Jenna back, so he assumed she would take on the full legal guardian role, but he loved them to much not to be in their lives.
"I'm their teach and friend and I'm dating their aunt." Alaric went with. It really was an odd family, two orphans, and aunt that didn't know what she was doing at first and is now a vampire, and a High School history teacher that drank his liver to shreds and hunted vampires for a living. Deciding that he shouldn't think that their... family for lack of a better word would probably make a very entertaining sitcom, Alaric pushed the thought out of his head with a shake of the head. "You can say we are a family." Alaric said with a smile.

[/IMG] - - - - - - - - - - -She couldn’t help but let out a giggle, something that was extremely rare as of late. She wasn’t one to try and keep her laughs in but she hadn’t had a good reason to laugh in a long time it seemed. However at the moment her younger brother, acting the way he used to, was reason enough for her to laugh. It had been a long time since she had seen Jeremy act like he was now, just the annoyed younger sibling who was put out by the fact that he constantly had to do things for his older sibling.
She thought about how truly long it had been since she had been given a reason to laugh about really anything. It seemed as if it had been years since she was able to let out a true smile or a true laugh. It was pathetic that at 18 she felt older than some 90 year olds but that was truly what she felt like.
She couldn’t believe how many things had happened over the past few months. It started out with Rose kidnapping her and telling her that they were taking her to Elijah. Then it was finding out about Klaus. Then it was Jenna and John dying and she herself dying in Klaus’ crazy sacrifice. Then it was Damon getting bitten by Tyler Lockwood. Then it was Stefan sacrificing himself to Klaus in order to save his brother. Then it was Katherine coming back. Then it was Bonnie and Tyler hooking up even though it was dangerous seeing as Tyler could technically kill Caroline. Then it Tyler being turned into a hybrid. Then it was Klaus compelling Stefan to turn off his humanity.
She guessed she could technically go further back then that but it made no difference. Either way her life had become a mess…well…no…it hadn’t become a mess…it had been a mess from the day she was born thanks to being the doppelganger, she had just learned of it. Either way her life was a mess and there wasn’t a damn thing she could do about it.
Her thoughts came back to her as she waited for Alaric and this young girl who she had no idea who she was to walk into the house. She quirked an eyebrow however was simply introduced, not giving any explanation. She snickered at the question before shaking her head. “Not really to be honest.” She stated honestly. “Long story incredibly short? I’m adopted, he’s my adopted brother though biologically my cousin…and Alaric here is my birth mother’s former husband.” She stated with a roll of her eyes, usually not one to open up about her past but figured that maybe it would help this girl to relax a bit. Alaric was a good judge of character in her book so she figured she would trust her. After all it wasn’t as if anything she said was a huge secret.
Hearing Alaric’s response she laughed. “Yeah, you are that too…as for Jenna, no, haven’t seen her. She’s been staying clear of us the past few days.” She answered cryptically, not wanting to get into the whole vampires are real thing with a young girl, though she briefly wondered why Alaric had brought her here unless she already knew. “Okay so instead of ignoring the elephant in the room I’m going to address it, what’s going on Ric? Not that we’re not pleased to meet you Annie but what’s going on?”

---------------------- ---------------------- He though her response to there family was funny, they could be adorable but he wasn’t sure about happy. Things have not been so perfect lately, been more like crazy. But then again when are things ever not crazy. Elena explained it to her best, it was sad but true but Elena wasn’t his real sister. They actually were cousins, but really that didn’t matter to Jeremy he has and always will love her like a sister and nothing will ever change that. “Yup sadly she is right we are not exactly the Brady bunch, but we are family and all we have. So that is enough for me.” He said smiling at Alaric and Elena. He was happy to see Alaric, it didn’t seem like with work and school he saw him much anymore. “So how’s it going?” He said to the former teacher who was more like a father now.
Alaric was right he pretty much was there guardian, Elena and Jeremy there were ok with that. They love him and love that he had been taking care of them, they couldn’t have imagined another being them for them in these hard times they have gone through. “Yeah he is a pretty cool guardian to have to, saying up late, watching movies, playing card games. Alaric is pretty cool.” He said smiling at the young girl. He didn’t know this girl much or what she though about them. But he was doing his best to make her feel at home, after all she seemed pretty cool.
Alaric had wanted to know were Jenna was when really Jeremy had not seen much of her lately. Its been kind of strange almost like she didn’t exist, for some reason she had been real distance since she came back. But then again Jeremy had been so busy with it all to notice all she had been up to.
Finally Elena got to the point getting right down to what they wanted to know. Leave it to his sister to get right down to the answers, but that was one of the things he didn’t love about her. Even though sometimes it can get the best of her. “Yeah Ric is this your niece or something?” Jeremy asked. He did want to know why Alaric was with this girl, and he hoped that she was ok? She didn’t seem like she was to happy to be there, or then again maybe she was lost or felt out of place. He then wondered maybe it would be better to talk with everyone inside feel more at home. “Why don’t we all go into the living room and talk, that way we aren’t standing here at the door. We have popcorn and soda if anyone wants.”

------------------ ------------------ former legal guardian...... Really? Now how in the world did that work out? This was getting weirder and weirder. Guess the plot just got a little thicker. If this had been a book, Annie would have put in on a table and left it there. It was interesting yes, but this was just down right odd. She did not understand any of it. And still it was just weird. It's not that she got a bad feeling about any of it. But she was not filled with butterfly's and pretty things. Not that she ever had been. but things were just a little too different. Annie would have liked to see this guy walk in, using his own key, and saying hello to his children, adopted or not. Which ever did not matter. That would have settled her a bit. But now she was starting to think he was just trying to add her to his collection of unwanted children. Which was not somewhere she wanted to be.
If this Elena and Jeremy people wanted him as a father figure, that was great. But what was with the former part? Once you had a kid, you can't just give it up....right? That's not how the world worked. Sure there was adoption, but Annie though that well, once a kid was given up that was that. She's never herd of them getting back together... or. Man this hurt her brain. Just how did it work. His expanding on that topic did little to help.
So now he is their teacher, former father and current uncle...ish? What.... how did that even.... So he was not biologically related to the kids. Alright. So the kids were in foster care? He taught them, began to love them or whatever, fostered them... then found their aunt who adopted them? Which then took away his rights as a foster parent? Maybe? That's the only thing she could really thing of. Which sounded great. But if he was looking to be her foster father, well good luck. Not only that but she had no family he could find, and or date. So what did that mean exactly? Yep... her head hurt for sure.
Just when she was sure she had gotten it. Elena had to speak up. Annie glared at her, as she made everything all the more complicated. The the kids were cousins. Alaric was step daddy at one point.... and now since mommy died, Auntie adopted her, and no Elena has a brother not a cousin. Maybe that is less complicated then her story. But still. What the heck. That's all. Still kind of weird though. Assuming Elena's mother had a sister, who's now currently Elenas mother. That would mean, Alaric is dating his formers wife sister. Weird. IS there some guy code for that sort of thing? Don't date siblings? Or is that a thing? It just feels wrong to do that. Unless They were just sister in laws at one point... but still... Yep. Her head hurt. No use trying to figure it out. Not like it mattered. It at least made Alaric look less like a creep and more like a player. But that was better.... much much better.
And the Brady bunch? what did that have to do with anything? There were only really 2 kids in this situation. In that one, there was like 10.. ish. But whatever. What did it matter? They were a family now, and who cared. So long as Alaric was not a creeper. That's all that really mattered. Anyway by the way Elena said what she said, and how she said it, Annie assumed this has been a long time coming. So they were likely raised as siblings, or close enough to it. So in her mind, Elena would be Jeremy's sibling, and this Jenna person would be mommy, who's dating Alaric, who taught the kids at some point in their life. End of story. That's all that mattered, that's all she cared about. shoot, that was more she needed to know. She was just kind of expected a Yep, we are one big happy adorable stupid little freaking family. Okay so she was expecting something nicer. But she got an explanation. She did not need all that, but the information could come in handy later on? Maybe? Anyway, her situation was so much more simple. Her parents were only children. They died a few years back, she'd been on her own ever since hunting. Period. Done, end of her story. She could say all that in one breath.
"Huh." Annie said in response to the little side convo Alaric and Elena had. Someone was clearly missing. The Aunt she was assuming. Which was weird. Why would Mommy/Auntie avoid the house for a few days? She must not be a very good mother. Or maybe she was a hunter. Dang. Annie did not want to stay with another family of hunters. They were always too close with certain people she was trying to avoid. Case and point, Sam and Dean. Those two would only kill her, or so she's been told. They run with the Angels, and for some unknown reason, Angels did not want her alive. Yet.... they were Angels. So if they wanted her dead.... that would mean she was evil? But then it was something having to do with a big player down below. She did not get the full story. All she knew was to keep far from those brothers, they only brought trouble. So if this were some kind of hunting family thing. Then well, she'd find her way out, and she'd get herself far far away from them. She was not about to put herself in the line of sight of Sam and Dean.
Turning her attention back to Jeremy, she just looked at him, she was not amused. Was he trying to sell her on how cool of a guy Alaric was? If he was, he was not doing a very good job. Also... why sell her at all? She had no plans on being adopted or going to school, or doing anything a normal girl should do. She was as good as dead anyway, so she might as well take out as many creatures as she can, while she can. She was young, her body was more then ready to handle it. Her mind not so much, but she she pushed the scared little girl aside, the one who used to cry under her bed shaking waiting for mommy to come home, and she just did what she had to do. She put on a brave face, and told herself she would not allow anyone to see her cry. She was not weak, she was a strong women, and she'd do what she had to do. She'd make her parents proud, and they would not have died for nothing.
For the first time in this house Annie smiled. She allowed her arms to cross over her chest, as she turned to fully face Alaric. She'd leave the answering to this one. She wanted to say she was kidnapped, and had no choice but to follow. but she figured she'd let the man of the house answer this one. He got her into this, he'd answer to the kids. She was not about to step in the middle of this one. Nope. She really fully expected some kind of show down between the two of them, and she wanted to see it. It almost made her want to like this Elena girl. Whom ever she was, she got to the point. Took her long enough, but she got there. If it were Annie, she'd say Hi how are you, and why are you here. One breath. But hey, to each his or in this case her own. Yep. Let Alaric answer. See what he came up with. By his answer she'd know a little more about these people, and how involved they were with the whole hunting scene.
Of course the Jermy kid had to speak up. And without taking her eyes from Alaric she answered. "Shh. I want to hear this." She hushed him under her breath. She half hoped that the Elena character would stand up to her. Annie was itching for a fight. Since her near death experience a few minutes ago, she was really ready to get out there and try again. She'd of course leave some shit here, if she deemed it suitable and safe, then she'd go out with what she needed only and kick some butt. But if the fight came to her, here. Well even better. Then she could storm off, leave Alaric heart broken, that he was unable to help her. She knew he only wanted to help. But Annie has begun to push people away just so she can hurt them. Just to test them. Well no to hurt them, then they would leave her be. Emotions made people weak. Loyalty made people weak. But most of all love and trust made people weak. Something she wanted to avoid. You could never be too careful.

"Why has Jenna been avoiding you for?" Alaric asks Elena quietly. Alaric was worried about Jenna. If she wasn't with Elena and Jeremy, and she wasn't with Alaric, then where was she? He couldn't worry to long about Jenna when Elena suddenly asked him about Annie. Alaric looked at Annie as she seemed to be feeling out the place. "Annie is..." Alaric began, not really even know how to explain it right now. He thought for a moment. "...She doesn't have a family." Alaric whispered to Elena.
It was a weird situation, but they were use to weird situations by now weren't they. "Things are going good Jeremy." Alaric answered Jeremy's question. "How are things with you and Bonnie? You um... need to talk about anything?" Alaric asked him trying to make casual conversation after dropping the Annie bomb on both of them. He really didn't know if he was up to talking to Jeremy about relationship stuff, in fact, his only real interaction with him about Bonnie was him teasing Jeremy a few months ago.
Still, he just wanted Jeremy to know that if he had to talk to somebody about that kinda stuff, he could always talk to Ric about it. There was really only one relationship talk he hoped Jeremy would never ask him, he didn't know how much Jeremy knew about... it... but knowing kids now a days like Ric did, he figured that Jeremy probably knew more about... it... then Alaric did. "Things have been crazy at both work and the other thing." Alaric said, everyone knew what the other thing meant.
"Yeah, probably not a good role model though." Alaric said to Jeremy as he said he was a pretty cool guy. He was a little slacking when it came to keeping them out of trouble. The only trouble he really cared about was the life and death kind. Jeremy and Elena were good kids, so he didn't force stuff like going to bed on time and such, he did like them being in early though, night time was really unsafe in Mystic Falls for such a small town, but other then that, and the no boyfriends or girlfriends alone upstairs rule, he was pretty easy going.
"She needs a place to stay." Alaric said bluntly. Looking at Annie. "Yeah, I am sure Annie is hungry." Alaric said as Jeremy offered to go into the living room for drinks and popcorn. Not the most healthy of meals, but a teenage girl should want that kind of food. Another thing that Alaric just didn't monitor enough, and that was what they ate. He couldn't really say anything, cause his diet consisted of mainly TV dinners and alcohol, so scolding them for eating chips and soda and candy didn't seem right.
"So, Annie would you like to go into the living room and get something to eat, sit down and maybe watch a movie?" Alaric asked her, he knew she was skittish around other people, but she really didn't have anything to fear from the three she was near right now. Jeremy wouldn't harm a fly, at least in Alaric's mind, and Elena was to innocent to do something like that. Alaric killed Vampires, sure, but Annie wasn't a vampire, she came in without really being invited, so he knew she wasn't one.

[/IMG] - - - - - - - - - - -Elena could almost see the young girl’s mind working, trying to sort out exactly what the hell she had walked into. The brunette doppelganger didn’t blame her. She knew from experience how strange this situation was. Hell she hadn’t even known the situation originally and when she learned of it she hadn’t handled it well. She could barely remember when Alaric first came into town but she did remember Damon and Stefan both being cautious of him. He had shown up, a history teacher and yet from the beginning it was clear that he knew more than he was supposed to.
Then he started dating Jenna, something that was weird in itself being that again, he was Elena and Jeremy’s teacher. It was right around then that Elena had learned through Stefan that she was adopted, though she had no idea who her biological parents were. She remembered asking Jenna and finding out information on Isobel and Trudy, Isobel’s best friend, and had learned through Trudy that Isobel was actually her biological mother, though no word on her biological father had been given yet. To this day she had no idea how Jenna had made the connection from Alaric’s wife to her birth mother but something had clicked and both she and Alaric had been blindsided by the news.
To make matters worse it was only a few days after learning that her history teacher was her biological mother’s husband that she learned that not only had Isobel been killed by a vampire, it had been Damon. Well, killed was a polite term for what he did. He didn’t kill her, no, it was worse, he turned her. Elena couldn’t imagine back then being turned into a vampire, though Isobel, (after they had finally met) was right when she said that she had lied about never thinking about it. That was your first lie. It’s inevitable, you’re going to get old, Stefan won’t. Forever doesn’t last very long when you’re human.
Pulling herself out of the past she laughed under her breath and this younger girl shushing her brother. Okay, maybe the two of them could get along. She could tell by looks alone that Annie was a few years younger than she and Jeremy both but you wouldn’t know it from looking into her eyes. Eyes that had clearly seen too much. She knew this all too well as she had watched her own eyes transform into that over the past two years.
She heard Alaric’s whisper about Annie not having a family and needing a place to stay and a weird sort of kinship formed in that moment, though she doubted Annie would feel the same way. Elena knew what being an orphan felt like, more so than a lot of others. Looking at Alaric and Jeremy she rolled her eyes at them, laughing a bit as they both tried to talk in code. “Okay, I’m just going to ask. How much do you know about…well…everything?” She asked before rolling her eyes at herself. “Okay and I’m doing the same thing. Ric, what happened tonight. Plain and simple. Before I can ask anything I need to know what to say and what not to.” She stated, getting to the bottom of this. She wanted to know why Annie had no family, why she had no place to live, how the two had met, everything. She was going to take a guess and say it had something to do with vampires or god knows what else or else Ric wouldn’t have brought her here, but on the off chance she was wrong she wanted to make sure she didn’t scar this young girl for life.
You know, more than she already was.

---------------------- ---------------------- Jeremy wished he knew why Jenna had been avoiding them, but then again maybe she wasn't he didn't get what was up with Jenna really she had not really been the same since she got back. "I'm not sure if she has necessary been doing that we just have not seen much of her, I hope she is OK. I have you talked to her much?" He asked. He knew all that Jenna was going through couldn't be easy, seeing that she hated vampires and didn't really understand them much to begin with. He wondered how she was doing and dealing with all this, he worried for his aunt.
It killed Jeremy to hear that this girl didn't have a family, it made him feel for this poor girl. But he wasn't going to say anything he didn't want to make her feel out of place. Jeremy understands what it feels like not to have anybody and to feel alone, he felt that way right after him and Elena lost there parents. Jeremy felt so angry hurt and alone, and just didn't want to talk or be around anyone. He even did dumb things turning to drugs and alcohol, something that he still isn't proud of and something he will never do again. Plus Elena might kill him if he did, but he would expect her to.
He asked how him and Bonnie were doing which surprisingly was going well, he knew that Alaric had known about the trouble they had in the past. But all of that was behind them and They were doing better then they ever had before. "actually man we are doing pretty good, I'm suppose to meet up with her tonight. But no nothing I need to talk about, but if I need to talk know you will be the first person I call." Said Jeremy. It was nice knowing that he had Ric to talk to about this stuff. He couldn't talk to Elena about all this, plus she had her own trouble dealing with Stefan which hasn't been easy.
He was happy that Annie wanted to come in and hang awhile, and if she needed a place to stay that was cool to. This house could always use another to add to the family. Plus there was something about her that she gave off, something that told him that Her and Elena would make close friends. "Well come on in we have a room she can stay in, Annie if you like I could make you a little something more then popcorn. Anything you want let me know on the house." He said to her with a smile.
He could tell that his sister did care and feel for this girl, wanting to get to the bottom to why this girl didn't have a home, or why she didn't have a family. Which Jeremy wanted to know as well, but he didn't feel it was his place to ask. But leave it to Elena to find out.

------------------ ------------------ Oh yes, she was going to enjoy this answer that was for sure. It would give Annie some much needed answers, like hunter or not, supernatural knower or not. Was she gonna have to act like someone her age and 'go to school' not hunt at night. Or could she do as she always does, and just be alone. Yep she wnated to hear this. She had to hear this. She even let out a small snort of a laugh as he cut himself off, fingering to change directions with whatever he was going to say.
Then things went south real quick. Annie went from amused to pretty annoyed, pretty pissed off really. Did he have to tell these people her life story. Fuck. They did not need to know she had no family, they did not need to know "Yeah and I don't need one." Annie fired back, perfectly able to hear all that. She was zoned in on listening to him, she had to know what he was saying, and she herd the word family, and knew just what it was he said. Why the hell did it matter if she had a family or not. She was here alone so that meant two things, no family or dead beat family. What did they care? She was alone how she got alone matted little. Dang. Everyone always had to pull the family card. Annie was of course a little bitter about it. "I don't need a pity party." She added more for herself, under her breath. She did not care if they herd her or not, but dang. She was a big girl (in her mind at least) and she could surly take care of herself, she has been for years now.
Okay so now something fishy was going on here. Annie could almost smell it. They were talking in code or something. She was missing something, and she knew it involved her. Suddenly staying here was risky. Not so much physically, she knew they would never dare hurt her, and had they tried well, she always slept with a assortment of knives in hand or really close by. That was her weapon, she was very skilled with a knife. Not so great with a gun, but she could handle one if need be. But a knife she was deadly. Scary so. But she needed that skill to survive the life she lived.
Still. This was risky for her, they would need to know more about her situation for some reason. And Annie was not about to give all that up. Not right now at least. She was too guarded, to protected, to worried they might get the cops involved. "I'm not a child." She spoke up, ignoring the boys offer of food. As much as she would like to eat very much, she'd pass. She'd make her own food if anything. And even then eating out of this house made her nervous. Who knew what kind of crap they might try to give her. That was something she could not fight off. Then again if it was in the house it would be safe. Or they might risk eating something bad. But that was besides the point. "You don't need to talk in code. Or censer your words." She informed them. "Whatever you have to say just say it. You wont hurt my feelings." She finished her bitchy attitude surfacing with vengeance. She did not need this. She'd rather sleep on the park bench in the middle of the day then stay in a house that treated her like a child, trying to keep shit from her and censer themselves and what not.
If there was something to be said, Annie expected it to be said, out loud for everyone to hear. Annie would not necessarily keep a secret from you, she may not be super forth coming with information, but she wont out right lie. She expects the same back. If you need to talk in secret do so when she's not around. But if your gonna talk about her while she was there, the least you could do was freakin talk. Give Annie a chance to defend herself or add more info or whatever. Again, that kind of stuff made her feel like a child. And she was not a child. No child could live through what she did, no child could survive this world, no child could fight the way she had. She was no child, and she would not tolerate being treated as such.
Her biggest thing was when people talked about her while she was right there, as if she could not hear them, or was too young to understand it all. Even when she was three, she understood more then people gave her credit for. Just if you had something to say, say it. None of this dancing around. Just come out with it. She'd do the same thing.

The way this family came to be was weird enough as it was. Alaric really didn't want to try an explain everything to Annie. She already didn't trust him enough as it was, so telling Annie how all of it went down, about Elena's biological mother being his wife, and how Alaric hooked up with his students aunt. Yeah, that was a great conversation to have on the first night of meeting someone. Alaric felt that calling them a family, as weird and mismatched and unorthodox as they were, they were still a family. Even though Alaric would be the first to admit that he did not make a good parent.
"I'm glad to hear Jeremy." Alaric said with a smile, to be honest he was just glad to avoid an awkward conversation tonight. Part of him was curious to know what the kids now a days knew about that kind of stuff, but he wasn't about to go ask one of them. Bonnie made Jeremy happy, and plus he knew she was part of the reason that he stopped doing some of the stuff he had done in the past. Alaric knew of Jeremy's drug use and he never really said anything to him about it, it really wasn't his place. How could Alaric lecture him on drug use when Alaric frequently turned to the bottle himself?
Alaric wanted to yell at Annie for being incredibly rude but refrained. Like it would make matters any better. "No one said you needed one, I was just stating a fact." Alaric said to her as gently as possible. She was so messed up in the head and her parents were to blame. He wouldn't say this out loud to Annie, but he felt that her parents were bigger monsters then the monsters they hunted to have a child and do all of this to them. To make them hate pretty much everyone and everything just because that was how they were raised. Alaric was forced into this life, but he would never do this if he had a child.
Elena and Jeremy were different. They were forced into it to, so by the time he was dating Jenna they were already in this world. Annie's parent's should of got out, or gave her up or something. Them continuing this life, hunting, leaving their daughter alone, all of that, made them worse then the things they hunted in Alaric's mind. "If you must know, I am talking about Jenna, my girlfriend." Alaric said, the last thing he wanted to do was tell Annie what Jenna was, as he knew she would try something. Right now Alaric was upset cause he wanted to do the right thing and Annie was being a brat.
Seriously, some people should not be allowed to have kids. "I haven't seen much of Jenna lately, she came by my classroom to tell me she was back and we made up, but that is it." Alaric told Jeremy when he asked if he had seen much of Jenna. Clearly things were not going so well as Annie flat out refused food, being incredibly rude to Jeremy in the process. Yeah it was safe to say Annie was not a normal kid and that is just wrong on so many levels. This was beginning to look like a bad idea but it was to late now. "Fine, starve then." Alaric said to her getting a little pissed.
Alaric didn't lose his temper very easily. But here they were, three really good people trying to help Annie, to change things for her for the better, and all she wanted to do was be a brat. Alaric had every right to get a bit upset with her. "I found her at the cemetery. She tried to kill a whole bunch of vampires by herself. I don't know much more then that." Alaric answered Elena's question. He really didn't want anything else to do with Annie right now as all he and the rest of them were doing was being nice to her and she was being mean. She needs to learn manners and quick.
Alaric tried to hide the fact that he was upset from Elena and Jeremy, and even Annie. But he clearly was. Annie didn't belong on the streets chasing vampires at her age, she belonged in a home with a family and friends that cared about her and loved her. She shouldn't push away the offer of help and support, she should embrace it and except it and need it. Getting help wasn't a weakness. Being loved wasn't a weakness. Being around people who cared for you wasn't a weakness. They were strengths. They were advantages in life that most people kill for. But not Annie. She despised all of that.

[/IMG] - - - - - - - - - - -She finally heard Jeremy and Alaric’s conversation and rolled her eyes at the two dense men in her life. She loved both of them, in her mind they were both family whether they were blood related or not, but still, how dense could they be? “She’s avoiding us because of the fact that she hasn’t mastered how to be herself anymore if you catch my drift and she doesn’t want to hurt anyone.” She answered, not giving anything away to the person that she really didn’t know in the room, I.E. Annie. She didn’t know if Alaric had spilled the beans on his girlfriend, or ex girlfriend or whatever he and Jenna were being a vampire and she sure as hell wasn’t going to be the one to do it that was for sure.
She was surprised at Annie snapping out that she didn’t need a family. She wanted to smile a compassionate smile at her but she refrained, keeping her face impassive. She really doubted that this girl wanted pity but that was what she felt for her. No, it wasn’t pity. It was a knowing feeling that Elena had often felt, especially after learning that she was adopted and her birth parents had given her up. Then when Isobel and later John died, she had truly felt alone. Not that she hadn’t been before but at least when Isobel and John had been alive she hadn’t been alone in blood relatives even if they weren’t exactly the quintessential parental people.
She pretended as if she didn’t hear Annie’s not wanting a pity party comment though she made a mental note to discuss it with Alaric and Jeremy later. She really doubted that Annie would stick around long if they kept giving her the ‘poor little girl’ looks that Elena was all too familiar with as that was the look she had been given after her parents car crash for months if not a year afterwards. She still saw certain people in town giving her that look and while it used to make her sad, now it just made her angry. She had been through more than enough in her life that she didn’t need people’s pity and she didn’t want it. She just wanted to go on her with her life and be accepted as someone strong instead of the sad little girl who lost her parents.
It seemed as if Annie wanted the same thing.
She bit her lip to repress a grin as Annie told everyone to stop treating her like a child. It was clear that the young girl had been taking care of herself for quite some time and considered herself an adult, however she wasn’t an adult and she needed to understand that. She so badly wanted to know the story but kept herself from asking again. She’d wait until she heard Alaric’s version of things and then she’d ask more questions. She could tell by the look of curiosity on Jeremy’s face that he was interested too but he’d led her take the reins on things as he didn’t want to be snapped at again. She couldn’t blame him but she still found it amusing to have a young girl putting her brother in place. She’d definitely have to inform his girlfriend about it later.
Even when she asked Alaric about what had been going on she could tell it was getting on Annie’s nerves. She held up a hand before anyone could say anything more and turned her full attention to the young girl. “I am not trying to talk about you as if you are not in the room, I just want Alaric’s version of things first as I don’t know you and I need him to tell me what he was doing before I can ask for your version of things. Plus that will tell me a little bit more about the situation without you censoring yourself. Don’t think I don’t notice we’re not the only one keeping quiet on a few things. So please don’t think I’m being rude or anything of the nature, I’m just curious as to what Alaric was doing and then I would have asked you the same thing.” She told her, trying to keep the peace while at the same time not sugar coating anything. She had a feeling this girl would prefer to be talked to straight like it was rather than have it babied down for her.
Hearing Alaric’s small explanation about what had gone on her eyes widened before she schooled her expression back into a neutral one. “Any vampires that we know or just regular vampires?” She asked, underhandedly asking if she had attempted to kill any vampires that she had been trying to keep safe even when they were being idiotic, I.E. when they ran off to Vegas but that was another story entirely. Turning back to Annie she quirked an eyebrow, curious now. “So what’s your story? I’ll make you a deal, I’ll answer any of your questions, full up, no lying, if you answer mine. Deal?” She asked, hoping she would agree but not knowing anything about her so not even beginning to be able to guess.
Before anyone could say anything Alaric's cell phone went off and it was Damon saying he had found a nest or something so all three said goodbye to Ric. Next Jeremy left to go spend the evening with Bonnie and then there were two. "Kitchen is through there." She stated when Jeremy and Alaric left with a roll of her eyes. "Since both boys were obsessed with you eating. I'll show you where you can sleep." She stated and led Annie up to her parent's old bedroom. "Bathroom's through there. And I'll see you tomorrow." She told her, though she had a feeling she wouldn't.
Something told her Annie would be gone before she woke up the next morning.
