-------------------------- -------------------------- Lisa walked into the store and went straight to the book section. She needed some new reading material. Maybe some romance, though when she thought about it, she didn't really need to read about romance when she had a guy all of her own. Just the thought of Dean made her smile. He may not be the type of guy she had envisioned as a boyfriend when she was younger, but he was so much more. He was strong, steady, reliable, he made her laugh, he cared about family...and he was hot. More than hot. Not that his looks had had a big impact on her decision to date him, but she had to admit, she liked having a hot guy on her arm. But, if he had just been attractive and hadn't had any of the characteristics she had just listed, she wouldn't have stayed with him. So, like she was saying, there was no need for romance books. None of the fictional men could ever hold a candle to the man that she had in real life. Her decision made, she headed over to the literature section of and began browsing through the shelves. What was she in the mood for? Well, my copy of Little Women's trashed, maybe I can find a decent replacement, she thought to herself. It was one of her favorites, which was evidenced by how worn her current copy was. Okay, then. Little Women it was. She then started looking through the names, looking for Louisa May Alcott. She looked through the names and while she was pleased to see plenty of the author's work, she was displeased to see that a lot of it was in paperback. Really? No hardback? So lame, she thought to herself. Maybe she should've tried a vintage bookstore. Okay, so she was a bit of a snob when it came to books, preferring older copies and hardbacks. Oh well, maybe she could still find a decent copy. Or maybe she could always order a copy on-line. But to be perfectly honest, she liked the social interaction of talking to a person in a bookstore. Ordering a book on-line just wasn't the same. She let out a sigh and kept looking. --------------------------

* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ ** ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * Instead of going hunting for some godforsaken creature out in the middle of nowhere, Avril decided today to go hang out in a local bookstore and maybe find a decent magazine. Once she entered the shop, she made her way over towards the coffee-shop that was inside the store and decided to order herself a soda beforehand. A girl needed her caffeine or she would be an uptight bitch without it and she knew with her habit of overloading her mouth before the bullets left was a very bad start. It wasn’t that Avril had a temper, it was just how some people knew how to push her buttons to a point to where she would tell them off and that little tendency would occasionally get her into more trouble than she needed.
Avril finished drinking her soda and got up and threw her bottle away and made her way over towards the magazine rack and began flicking through a pile of magazines that were new and didn’t see anything interesting in any of them and she found a magazine that caught her attention and started to read through it and started walking in the opposite direction until she ran right smack dab into a woman who she hadn’t seen before. “Sorry about that I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going,” she said as she bent down to pick up Lisa’s book that she knocked out of her hand. “My name’s Avril though most people call me Av,” she said as she handed Lisa her book. **********

-------------------------- -------------------------- Lisa frowned in concentration as she perused the shelf that held the Louisa May Alcott books. Finally she found what she was looking for: a hardcover version of the book. She took it off the shelf and looked it over. It was a pretty decent copy, not fancy or anything, but it was good enough for her. Okay then, I'm good to go, she thought to herself. Well, she supposed she could do a little more shopping, but would that really be a constructive way to spend her money? She did have bills coming up and the last thing she needed was to come up short. Well, she could at least buy the one book as it wouldn't break the bank. So yeah, the book would be fine. Her musing was cut short when she collided with someone, resulting in her dropping her book. "Whoa. Clean up on aisle seven," she joked. "Sorry about that. Was lost in thought. You okay?" she asked and then brushed off the other woman's apology with a wave of her hand. "No harm no foul," she assured as she took the book back. This is really embarrassing, she thought to herself. But at least the girl hadn't taken offense at the fact that she had run into her. She smiled as the the woman introduced herself as Avril, saying most people just called her "Av". "Nice to meet you, Av. I'm Lisa," she responded. "But why shorten it? Avril sounds so pretty and not a lot of people have that name," she commented. Then, "Sorry. I sometimes speak before thinking," she apologized, looking sheepish. That had just been rude. --------------------------

* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ ** ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * Avril couldn’t help but laugh at Lisa’s comment about clean up on aisle seven. She thought for sure the woman would likely lose her cool with her bumping into her on accident. Some people were just blunt like that which resulted in them getting punched in the mouth or in Av’s case with her katana pointing in front of their nose. That was another story for another time.
“I’m okay I’ve ran into things a lot worse,” Avril replied as she got up and picked up her bearings and gave her head a shake. She smiled when the woman introduced herself as Lisa and commented about her having a nice name and not many people had a name like hers. “Nice to meet you, Lisa,” she replied as she tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “I’ve always been called Av guess you can say it’s a nickname,” she said with a chuckle. “Rather be called Av then cupcake,” she added with a chuckle. She smiled at Lisa as she apologized for speaking before thinking. “No need to apologize I have a similar problem of doing things like that myself, but I’m getting better at it.” She paused for a moment and noticed that things were getting to be a little awkward and she was not a fan of being the center of attention. “I don’t know about you, but I could go for a nice chicken strip and Cajun fries and a coke,” she said. “So how about we grab a bite to eat after we pay for our stuff?” she asked, hoping that the woman would say yes to help break the tension. Avril was more of the lone wolf type who could always use more friends.

-------------------------- -------------------------- Lisa smiled when the other woman laughed at her joke. Good. She's not mad, she thought to herself. Which had been the whole reason for the joke: to make the situation more funny. And from this woman's reaction, it had worked. So that was a good. Her smile then grew as she stated that she had run into things a lot worse. "Oh like an ex-jock who still thinks he's God's gift to women?" she queried. Yeah, she had run into a few of those before. It was never fun. Lisa forced herself to pay attention as Avril said it was nice to meet her and that being called "Av" was better than being called "Cupcake". "I can't argue with that. Why is that guys think we'll like being nicknamed after a food?" she wondered with a roll of her eyes. Thank goodness Dean wasn't that way. In fact, he wasn't much for nicknames at all, though he sometimes called her "Babe". And that was enough for her. If it had been anyone else, she'd be annoyed at the word, but from Dean, it just sounded right. To Lisa's relief, Avril wasn't all that mad at their collision, brushing off her apology by saying that she had done the same thing at times. "Oh good. I don't look like a total idiot," she said with a slight chuckle. She would've hated it if the other woman had thought she was a flake or something. At Avril's mention of food, Lisa's stomach rumbled. Well, I guess that settles it, she thought to herself. "Yeah, that sounds good. Just let me pay for this," she said. Then, she went to the checkout line, waited until it was her turn, paid for the book, and then went back to where Avril is. "There's a place close by that has the meal that you mentioned, though I take it you've been there at least once if you know about it," she told her as she headed for the door. --------------------------

* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ ** ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * “That and simple fact that most guys think they can get inside my pants with a six pack and loaded shotgun and a bucket of gasoline,” Avril replied with a chuckle as she tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear as she listened to Lisa speak and she smiled softly. It seemed like this young woman was decent enough to trust. “And the reason why most guys name us after a food is because they don’t have a brain when it comes to charming the pants off some woman,” she added with a snicker.
Avril paused for a moment and couldn’t help but chuckle when she heard Lisa’s stomach rumble for food and when she mentioned what she wanted to eat her stomach also rumbled in agreement. “I think we both could use some food,” she said with a chuckle as she waited patiently for Lisa to pay for her stuff so they could get going. “Yeah I have been to that diner before now that you mention it,” she replied with a snort. “They have the best food there,” she added as she opened the door to the diner and found a nice booth to sit in and the waiter came over towards their table and Avril told the waiter what she wanted to drink and to eat. Once she was finished she looked at Lisa. “So I take it you are from around here?” she asked as she smiled at the woman hoping that this day would be a good one.

-------------------------- -------------------------- Lisa smiled as Avril confirmed her hypothesis, adding that most guys that they could score with her if they had a six pack, a shotgun, and a bucket of gasoline. "It's so dumb. Like every girl is going to fall for a Patrick Swayze body and then just go to bed with him? Please," she said with a roll of her eyes. Okay yes, she'd be tempted if it was actually Patrick Swayze, but that was beside the point. She then laughed as the other woman continued saying that guys gave girls food nicknames after food because they didn't have the brains to charm the pants off of a girl. "For most guys this is true. Not mine though," she said. No, Dean wasn't like that all, which she was extremely grateful for. The only nickname Dean had ever given her was "Babe" and that wasn't really all that embarrassing, which some nicknames could be. She then laughed as the other woman stated that they could both use some food. "Yes. Definitely," she agreed. Food would be good. After she paid for her book, she turned her attention back to Avril who said that she had been to the diner that she had mentioned and that they had the best food. "Yes, they certainly do," she stated with a grin. It would appear that they were on the same page in regards to food. When she asked if she was from Richmond, Lisa nodded. "Yeah, I moved here with my son a while back," she replied. And to be perfectly honest, she was enjoying every minute of it. "What about you? Did you move here or are you just visiting someone here?" she wondered. --------------------------

* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ ** ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * Avril listened as Lisa talked and smiled. “If you don’t mind me asking does your boyfriend have a name if you have one that is since you said yours doesn’t call you by a food name?” she asked. “I have met a few people since I’ve come back to town and actually I was born in Mystic Falls. I grew up mostly in Georgia after my parents died and basically raised myself,” she said as she sat down in the booth and raised an eyebrow up. “What’s your son’s name if you don’t mind me asking?” she asked as she motioned for the waiter to come to their table so she could place her order.
“What can I get for you two ladies?”
he asked as he pulled out his notepad and ink pen. “I would like a 4 piece chicken strip dinner instead of cole slaw I want Cajun fries, a lemon pie, a coke,” Avril replied as she waited for Lisa to place her order of what she wanted. Suddenly some hip-hop mess started blaring through the jute box and Avril made a face. “Ugh no this won’t due,” she said as she got up and pulled out a quarter and flicked through to a nice Hank Williams Jr. song to play and she smiled softly. “That’s much better than that other crap that was playing,” she mused as she walked over towards the table and sat down and smiled when the waiter brought her drink to her and she sipped on it. **********Word Count:: 255 Tagged:: Lisa Braeden Outfit:: CLICK FOR AV’S OUTFIT!Note:: Sorry for the delay damn you real life and new guy Saber has been seeing and DAMN you Sonic XD. -------------------------- -------------------------- Lisa smiled as Av asked her what her boyfriend's name was, saying that she had one since she had said that hers didn't call her by a food name. "Dean. His name is Dean," she replied, unable to keep the smile off of her face at the mere mention of his name. Yes, Dean was something else. She then nodded as Av stated that she had met a few people in town and had been born in Mystic Falls, but raised in Georgia after her parents died. "I'm sorry for your loss," she murmured. It sucked losing your parents no matter what, but to happen when you were a child had to be even worse. When she asked what her son's name was, Lisa's smile grew even wider. "His name is Ben," she replied. And he was the light of her life. Oh don't get her wrong, Dean was important too, but Ben would always come before everyone else, even Dean. And if he wasn't okay with that, well then, it sucked to be him. "How about you? Do you have anyone special in your life?" she asked. And she really wanted to know. Maybe she did and maybe she didn't. She supposed she'd be finding out pretty soon. She was about to say something more when the waiter came up and asked them for her order. She waited for the other woman to make her order. "I'll have the same except make my drink a Root beer please," she requested. Hey, she felt like having a Root beer so she was going to have one. She then leaned back in her seat and looked around subtly, making sure she knew where the exits and entrances were. Okay maybe she was paranoid, but given the fact that she had only been introduced to the Supernatural world fairly recently and she was by no means a fighter, she liked knowing what route to take if she needed to make a quick getaway. A little after they had made their order, some sort of hip-hop song started playing and Lisa made a face. "What in the world is that?" she wondered. It sure as heck ain't music, she thought. She didn't care if some people thought it was, it wasn't. And apparently, Av was thinking thinking the same thing because she said that the music wouldn't do and went over to the jukebox and made a selection, which turned out to be a country song. Okay, I can work with this, she thought to herself. She then watched as the other girl came back. "Thank goodness, you found something decent," she commented. It was much better than the other song that had been playing, that was for sure. --------------------------

* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ ** ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *Avril listened as Lisa spoke. “Dean? As in the infamous Dean Winchester?” she asked raising an eyebrow up. “Yep…met him about a month ago while in Richmond while at a graveyard while he was working on a case or something to that effect,” she added with a smile, remembering the day she ran into Dean at the cemetery. “Surprisingly he and I got along pretty well. I usually don’t get along with random people I meet right off the bat unless they try to hit on me which wasn’t the case when I met Dean. It was more on sheer dumb luck. I was paying respect to my parent’s grave and then I end up falling into another grave that had a coffin inside it with a body inside it which was no picnic for me by the way and the lid fell on top of me. Dean was about to roast the body until I came out like a jack-in-the-box.”
She smiled as she listen to Lisa talk some more. “How old is your son?” she asked and then she snorted when Lisa asked her if there was anyone special in her life. “At the moment...no not yet,” she said. “Personally I like being independent. I don’t think I am quite ready to settle down with anyone just yet. Nor do I think there is a guy who is out there who can handle a loaded pistol like myself.”
She couldn't help but chuckle when Lisa commented on the music that was playing. “Some people have very poor taste in music,” she said as she sipped on her soda. “Lucky for you I ain’t like most chicks who like that hip-hop mess that some consider to be music. Give me the classic country or Bon Jovi and I’m pretty much good to go,” she added smiling. The waiter came with their food along with Lisa’s drink and Avril grabbed her plate and took a bite of one of her fries and licked her lips.

-------------------------- -------------------------- After revealing Dean's name, Avril acted as if she had heard of him, using his full name, causing Lisa to stare at her in surprise. "You know him?" she asked, feeling herself tensing slightly. How would she know him? Her body then relaxed as the other woman explained that they had met at a graveyard while he was working on a case. "Oh I see. So you're a hunter too?" she asked. What was it with Dean working with beautiful girls? Okay, so had nothing to worry about with Sarah as she was with Sam, but this woman was freakin' gorgeous! She was like a supermodel! She wouldn't blame Dean if he did fall for her. However, she didn't say anything as the other woman continued on, saying that they had gotten along fairly well, which was surprising as that didn't usually happen unless they tried to hit on her, which Dean hadn't, something that made Lisa feel better. Not that she had thought that he would, but honestly, she wouldn't have been surprised if he had. "So, how'd you meet anyways?" she wondered. Then, her face became sympathetic as she said that she had been visiting her parents. "I'm so sorry. It must be hard not having them around," she murmured as the other girl was saying that she had fallen into another grave and had nearly been roasted by Dean before she had come out of the grave like a jack-in-the box. "Oh no! The look on his face must've been priceless!" she gasped with a small chuckle. Then, "I'm sorry. I know that's not funny. It must've been pretty traumatic to fall into a grave." But still, the look of shock on Dean's face must've been hilarious and a part of her wish she could've seen it. Then, Avril asked her how old Ben was. "Twelve. He's nearly a teenager," she replied, unable to keep the grin off of her face, though she also groaned a bit. Already nearly a teenager. Where had the time gone? Wasn't it just yesterday that he was taking his first steps? It just didn't seem real that he was already twelve years old. She then nodded as the other woman replied that she didn't have anyone special in her life at the moment, that she liked being independent, that she wasn't ready to settle down with anyone just yet, and that she didn't think that there was a guy out there who could handle her. "Well then it's their loss. I'm sure there's someone out there for you," she told her. She was really liking this girl and something told her that any guy would be lucky to be dating her. She laughed and nodded in agreement with the other woman who stated that some people had very poor taste in music, adding that she wasn't like other girls who liked hip-hop music, calling it a mess and saying that she preferred classic country or Bon Jovi. "Yes! That is real music!" she exclaimed. And they were pretty much all she, Ben, and Dean played in the house. Well, she liked some jazz and classical too, but that was more when she needed to think things over. "Or Van Halen and Johnny Cash," she mentioned. Those were good artists too, though she understood that not everyone would agree with her. --------------------------

* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ ** ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * Avril raised an eyebrow up slightly when Lisa tensed up slightly as she sipped on her drink and ate a fry. This lady she beginning to like which was saying a lot on her part since there weren’t many females that she actually got along with in town. Avril nodded her head when Lisa asked her if she was a hunter. “Yes I am,” she said. “Am I an expert? Heck no. Not by a long shot. I know the basics on how to protect myself against the unknown. Living in a town that is crawling with unknown supernatural creatures I’ve learned to always keep a loaded shotgun in the back of my car and if I walk alone I keep a blade on me,” she added.
Avril listened as Lisa continued to talk. “Yeah it is, but I deal. I've learned how to take care of myself over the years,” she said as she chuckled softly. “Yeah…that part wasn't fun being trapped in a box with the dead and hopefully that won't happen again anytime soon.” She finished eating her fries and last piece of chicken and sipped on her soda and then wiped her mouth off. “Oh hell yes classic Johnny Cash is the bomb,” she said with a grin as she stood up and dusted the crumbs off her t-shirt and smiled. “I could go for a chocolate fudge sundae,” she muttered as she motioned for the waiter to come over. “What can I get you?” “I would like a hot fudge sundae with extra fudge please,” she replied with a smile as she sat back down at the table and waited for the waitress to bring her ice cream to her and she smiled at Lisa.

-------------------------- -------------------------- Lisa let herself relax a bit more as Avril confirmed that she was a hunter, saying that while she wasn't an expert by any means, she knew the basics which allowed her to protect herself from the unknown, adding that she had learned to always keep a loaded shotgun in the backseat of her car and to always carry a blade on her when she was walking alone. "That's always a good thing," she commented with a smile. Now that she realized that the woman before her was a hunter like Dean, she wasn't that worried about how she knew Dean. Not that she automatically thought that all hunters were the same, but at least her knowing Dean made sense now at least. She then nodded with some sympathy as the other woman said that it was hard, but she dealt with it and had learned how to take care of herself over the years. "But still...that's tough. I don't know if I could've done it," she admitted and then laughed as she continued on, saying that it hadn't been fun being trapped in a box with the dead and that she hoped that it wouldn't happen again anytime soon. "I wouldn't want it to happen to me ever," she declared with a shudder. "I admire what Dean does and what you do, but I don't know if I could do what you guys do. Oh don't get me wrong, if something came after Ben I'd fight it to the death, but to actively seek things out like you guys do....I don't know if I'd be able to do that," she said. She'd be too frightened. It was bad enough worrying about Dean when he went out to chase these things. She then laughed at her enthusiastic response at the mention of Johnny Cash. "Yes, he certainly is. I can remember my dad "Ring Of Fire"," she recalled with a soft grin. That was a good memory. One that she'd treasure until the day she died. And hopefully, she was creating good memories for Ben. She wanted him to have good memories of her. At the mention of a chocolate fudge sundae, Lisa's eyes glazed over. "That sounds good," she breathed. She hadn't had one of those in ages and suddenly, she was craving it. She watched as Avril waved the waitress over, who asked her what she wanted and then she ordered it. "And I'll have one as well," she added. Okay, so she was a little full from her lunch, but come on! They were talking about a chocolate fudge sundae! You could never go wrong with that! --------------------------

* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ ** ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *“Yep the blade always comes in handy when you need to slice and dice something,” Avril replied with a nod of her head. She knew there were a lot things that could go bump in the night that were lurking outside the supernatural world. She listened as Lisa spoke and she smiled softly when she said that she admired the things she and Dean did to help protect the people they cared about. “Dean is way better at this stuff then I am,” she said with a chuckle. “I didn’t have the best childhood growing up after my parents were killed living with my mom’s sister and her husband and son wasn’t exactly a picnic. I preferred hanging on the streets then staying in a house with people who didn’t want anything to do with you,” she said softly as she paused for a moment and took a bite of her sundae. Why in the hell was she blabbing about her past to a woman who she hardly knew? It wasn’t like Avril to share about her past with someone she barely knew. Maybe it had something to do with Lisa’s personality or Avril was starting to get tired of keeping everything bottled up. She chuckled when Lisa agreed that a sundae sounded pretty good. “It may be fatting, but what the hell a desert every now and then won’t hurt anything,” she said as she continued eating her ice cream while enjoying some quality girl time with the woman she just met.

-------------------------- -------------------------- Even though she had no personal experience with hunting other than when Ben had been kidnapped, Lisa nodded in agreement when Avril said that her blade always came in handy when she needed to slice and dice something. "I bet," she said. Of course, she could only imagine how useful a weapon would be in a situation like that, and not very well at that. But she was sure that for people like Avril and Dean, those kind of images ran through their minds all the time. And really, it'd make sense seeing as how they fought creatures all the time and probably ran scenarios through their heads all the time and made sure that they were prepared for anything. Heck, even she had started taking some of the precautions that Dean had taught her, such as laying down salt lines. Her eyes flickered a bit as the other woman said that Dean was better at hunting than she was, adding that her childhood hadn't been the best and that living with her aunt, uncle, and cousins hadn't been a picnic, saying that she had preferred to be on her own rather than staying with people who didn't want have anything to do with her. "I'm sorry," she murmured. That sounded like it had been hard, though it also seemed like Avril had come through it okay. But then again, what did she know? Absolutely nothing. After they got their sundaes, Lisa nodded in agreement as Avril stated that the dessert may be fattening, but getting it every once in a while wouldn't hurt her. "Exactly!" she stated. "And besides, sundaes are just too good to resist," she added as she began to eat the treat. At least...to her they were. She then let out a moan of contentment as she took another bite. This was so good! She couldn't believe that it had been so long since she had had one of these things. And she was practically drooling over food. Lovely. Hopefully Avril didn't think she had turned into some kind of nut. --------------------------
