She watched as Kathy got more and more animated though it was more from stress it seemed than because she was excited. She knew that both she and Noah were on edge, though she could sense that it was more Noah than her…which didn’t surprise her since she knew how vampires felt about her. She also didn’t want to give Angel any ammunition to try and keep Kathy away from people who had been in her life when he hadn’t. She knew that they were steal healing from the recent Angelus issue so she didn’t want there to be any conflict in that relationship…at least not if she could help it.
That didn’t mean that she trusted Noah 100%...far from it. He was a vampire that she didn’t know which meant that she was automatically suspicious of him. However when she got home and away from prying ears she did plan on putting a call into AJ herself and checking on him. She knew that Kathy for the most part was a good judge of character but she also knew how easy it was for a vampire to sway someone into thinking that they were good and decent when in reality they were trying to stab you in the back. Not that she got that impression from Noah but it wouldn’t hurt to check him out.
She watched as Noah said goodbye and she could see that Kathy didn’t like it but understood it. She tried to give them as much privacy as possible though that was a bit difficult in the store that they were in. She pretended to fiddle with one of her current selection but was surprised when Noah spoke to her quietly before kissing her on the cheek. She nodded at him with a soft smile. “I completely understand…and I am the same way. I don’t ever want to see her or anyone else I care about hurt. So no hard feelings on my end. And I know it doesn’t mean much but I will promise you that no harm will come to her on my watch as long as you can promise the same.” She told him and smiled when he nodded at both of them before walking away.
She took a deep breath before blowing it out and then turning back to Kathy. “Alright, I don’t know about you but I’m hungry. And yes I’m aware how stupid that sounded however you okay with stopping and letting me grab a bite to eat?” She asked, hoping it would go over alright with the young vampires. She knew that Kathy ate human food as well but she didn’t know if she was still in the mood to stay or if she wanted to go home.
