------------------ ------------------ "Is that so?" She told the boy getting a little bit closer looking up at him. She knew she shouldn't be doing this but it was Sam and she liked him so she did have a right to flirt with him so she shouldn't worry so much about it. Besides it seemed like he was flirting back as well which she liked a lot it meant that there was a chance the two would be together. She knew that Sam wasn't a player she knew that the first day they met; he was sweet, kind, and just so different than other guys and she wasn't talking about his supernatural life. It was just the way he was which was why she was so into him in a matter of minutes. It wasn't her fault that she felt the way she did.
Sarah smiled at his laugh, she just enjoyed him being happy. She giggled slightly of the fact that he was asking her if she was free for the weekend and it just reminded her of being a teenager. "You better be and I''m definitely free Sunday," she said with a smile. It was funny how he had stuttered, god why was this guy so amazing? The patrol sounded like some date to her it would probably be one of the weirdest dates if they called it that. "Although I am curious to know what your brother is going to tell you," she told the boy. She wanted to know what it was but if Dean didn't want Sam telling anyone then that was fine she could respect that.
Sam just wasn't making sense to her right now what was it that he needed to tell her? And should Sarah be nervous because she was clearly freaking out in her mind right now. She hoped it was something she could handle, that was what she was most afraid of not handling it but she believed in herself and she truly did like Sam and that had to count for something. If you truly care about someone you should be able to cope with whatever they had been through right? That's what Sarah thought and maybe this was a test to see how much she liked Sam, it would be the test to see whether she failed or passed. She looked at the boy waiting to hear what he would say because right now it was killing her not knowing.
Sarah just tried to keep calm and looked at him with curious eyes. She should feel happy that he was actually going to tell her what had happened when he didn't have to but knowing that he was made her glad because it meant he truly cared for her and what she thought so she should give him the chance to explain and be okay with it...if she'd be okay with it. Sarah knew that if she had anything important to say about her life she would have but nothing had really happened after Sam left her life had been kind of boring.
She had a big huge smile on her face when he said he wanted her to be his after this and she would gladly accept when the conversation was over. "Yes, I will hear you out," she told him with another smile. What had he been through the past few years though? God, this was just scaring her a lot and she wanted to know but didn't. But if they were going to be in a good relationship everything had to be laid out on the table and that was exactly what Sarah was getting. It may hurt like hell but she will have to push forward and hopefully he'll help her push. She just hoped that it wasn't as bad as he was making it seem right now. "I think I know what my decision will be," she told him. She would stand by him she knew she would her feelings were extremely strong for him.
"You're kinda scaring me Sam," she told him honestly. How could it be so bad that she would walk away from something that could be amazing? She wouldn't be able to no matter how bad it was, maybe she'd have to think about it, well she didn't know she'd have to hear it first. She saw his hand reach out for hers and she held onto his hand and they sat at the picnic bench, this would have been beautiful if it wasn't honesty hour at the moment. She looked at Sam and when he asked her if she was ready she wasn't sure if she was but she would have to be whether she liked it or not. "Yeah, I'm ready," she said with a small sigh. "Just know that whatever happened to you or what you did I'm not walking away from us...and I won't change my mind after whatever you're about to say," she said honestly. She wouldn't walk away she liked him too much to do that. Maybe he doubted her but she didn't doubt herself she knew her feelings for him and she'd be there for him no matter what. ------------------ Credit: Graphics by Britt! - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - He smiled and reached over to tickle her side for a moment before laughing and shrugging. “With Dean, god only knows.” He told her with a shake of his head. “It could be something as inane as ‘Hey by the way I found the best place in Antarctica that serves the best pies so I’m going to go and drive to buy a few. Be back in a few weeks’ to something as random as ‘I’m going to drive to South Dakota to do some work on the Impala even though there’s nothing wrong with it’ to something as serious as ‘There is something we need to kill in Maine. Let’s go.’” He told her with a laugh. “So your guess is probably as good as mine at this point.”
His laughter stopped then, focusing on what he had to tell her. “A lot has gone on and I want you to know that if you want to leave, I won’t stop you. I know that a lot of what I am going to tell you is going to be really hard and a lot of it isn’t stuff that I am at all proud of, but I feel like you need to know before we go any further than we are right now.” He told her, sitting down on the picnic table, a small sigh of relief leaving his lips when she said that she wouldn’t leave. She wasn’t sure if he believed her since she had absolutely no idea what he was getting ready to drop at her feet but at least for the moment he knew that she couldn’t imagine anything tearing them apart.
"After we said goodbye to you...after I said goodbye to you...we drove for awhile before we got word that a vampire hunter and our dad's mentor was murdered. Dean and I went to try and figure out what was going on. We got there and out of nowhere our dad shows up. Our dad who was the whole reason that I went back into hunting since he was missing. The reason he was there was because there was a gun that was stolen by the vampires, the gun was made by Samuel Colt...and it could kill anything, including demons." He started out, trying to remember that far back and knowing he would probably forget some things.
“We got the gun back but unfortunately it didn’t seem to be enough, at least not at that moment. There was a demon named Meg, she started killing off our dad's friends trying to get him to bring her the Colt....the gun that would kill demons. I was having visions, a lot of them, telling me where I needed to go. Dean hated it because it made me some sort of psychic freak and none of us knew why I was having them but we had learned to listen to them. So we parted ways with our dad. Dean and I headed to this house where the demon was supposed to strike next while our dad went off to try to stop Meg from killing any more of his friends."
"We saved the family but didn't get the demon we were after...the one who killed our mother. After we left town we tried to find our dad but we needed help so we went to an old friend, Bobby, and asked for help. Long story short we ended up getting our asses kicked but we were alive...and we were headed to patch ourselves up when a semi crashed into us, the driver was someone possessed by a demon...sent after us by the demon...the yellow eyed demon...the one who killed our mother." He took a deep breath, seemingly lost in his thoughts as he spoke about his past.
"Anyway when I woke up the demon who had hit us was standing over the car. Luckily I had the Colt and threatened to shoot him...Which luckily enough scared him off so he jumped out of the person he had been possessing. My dad and Dean were both unconscious. The guy who had been possessed called 911 and they sent us in a helicopter to the hospital. I was checked out pretty quickly and was for the most part fine other than some bumps and bruises." He continued.
"My dad woke up soon and other than a bump on the head and some scrapes and I think he might of broken something, I can’t remember, but he was alright too. Dean on the other hand wasn’t. He was on life support and I couldn’t figure out a way to bring him back…and trust me…I tried just about everything. I begged my dad for help and he told me I had to get to the Impala to bring him the Colt but wouldn’t tell me why. I did what he asked but was so mad at him that I yelled at him… then went down to do what he had asked me to do. All of a sudden I walked in and Dean was awake…and he wanted out of bed. I can’t remember exactly what went down but we all of a sudden walked into our father’s room and he had collapsed on the floor, and wouldn’t wake up. We found out later that he had made a deal with the demon, he traded his life and the Colt for Dean’s life.” He told her before realizing he had been zoned out. He smiled a watery smile before taking a deep breath. “You sure you want me to continue? It doesn’t get any prettier from here.” He warned.

------------------ ------------------ Sarah laughed at his tickle. "Well then, hopefully you can tell me what this big meeting is about when we see each other again," she said with a smile. She really wanted to know especially if it was about the two leaving town then she would at least know and would be able to mope and spend however long they had with each other. She was really hoping that it was just something about pie or whatever as long as Sam got to stay here in Richmond then Sarah would be okay. Even seeing him just tonight if he had left tomorrow it would have been hard to see him leave again and she never wanted to see him leave not again. Maybe she was crazy for feeling this paranoid but she honestly couldn't help it.
"Okay," she said with a nod. It was finally time to hear what he was about to say. He wasn't proud about some things okay so she got that much down and hopefully those things were minor. She just felt really worried right now and she didn't want to be worried she just wanted to accept whatever it was. For a second she actually wanted to back out and say that she didn't want to hear it but to be able to trust Sam and open up to him she'd have to listen to his every word no matter how hard or painful it was and the one thing that she truly had to remember was that it happened in the past not the present. She would have to keep a clear mind for whatever he was about to say.
She listened to what he was saying and so far nothing seemed bad. They discovered a gun that could anything basically so how was that horrifying? She knew that there was probably more to the story though, that couldn't have been it and it would probably go downhill after the gun was found because everyone must have wanted it including demons, if it killed them then why would they want a hunter to have it out of all things? She actually wondered if the gun was with him right now but she wasn't going to ask in the middle of his story.
The next words surprised Sarah, he could have visions? "Wow," she said with an astonished look. Maybe he still had the visions she didn't know and once again wouldn't ask considering she was to afraid to interrupt the man sitting in front of her. She did say a word but it wasn't like it was loud enough. Sam had been through a lot that year? She was pretty sure it was the year they met so that must have been a really stressful time for the boy. His life seemed really complicated back then but even so she would have still loved to apart of it but they were at least here tonight together plus Sarah would have probably gotten in the way if she was there.
Hearing about the demon that killed Sam's mother actually made Sarah angry. Losing someone he loved to some type of supernatural and it really did suck that they weren't able to kill it but hopefully they did at some point in their life. If the demon was still alive then she would help find it with them, no one should lose their mother under that circumstance feeling helpless. Sarah had felt helpless for not being able to help her other even though it was a natural death but still in a way she could relate to Sam. But hearing that he was in a crash made her frown knowing that he could have died from it but at least he was perfectly fine and so was his brother and dad...well his brother was still alive she wasn't sure where the father was maybe somewhere in this town.
Once again she was listening and how someone was possessed. She forgot that stuff happened and she should have known considering every movie that she watched is basically attached to the supernatural somehow. She was thankful that 911 was called though, she felt bad for not being there though...which made no sense what so ever. She shouldn't feel guilty just because she wasn't there by his side she wasn't even a slayer then. She just wished that none of that happened for him or his family, none of them deserved any of it and it really did suck that bad things happened to good people.
She couldn't believe that Dean was on life support though, how did he survive? Her question was answered and she could tell Sam was kind of upset telling this. So, their father gave up his life for his son, that was love. "Your dad...he died a hero then," she told him with a smile. She wished that she could meet his father just tell him how he had raised an amazing son but at least he was at peace now with Sam's mom. "You still have me here," she said with a small smile. "I do want to hear more but if you don't want to go on I understand...I just can't believe all of this happened after we say our goodbyes," she told the boy a little sadly. The one thing she was happy about was the fact that he was telling her this, she actually felt closer to him. She wondered what else could have happened though, whatever it was she was prepared. ------------------ Credit: Graphics by Britt! - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - He smiled softly when she stated that his father had died a hero. “He would do anything for Dean…he always would.” He told her, no longer showing the animosity towards his father that he once had. He had known for a long time that Dean was his father’s favorite and he no longer resented that fact. He knew that most would say that he wasn’t dealing but in reality he had dealt with it. He no longer felt guilty about the way that he and his father had parted terms because once the devil’s gate had opened and his father had saved them…he knew then that all was forgiven.
He shook his head and took her hand, squeezing it softly. “I need to tell you.” He told her before taking a deep breath and continuing from where he left off. "After we had our father's funeral Dean became obsessive over fixing the Impala, which really was just his way of coping with our dad's death. I became obsessed with figuring out our dad's cell phone pin number...don't ask why. Anyway I finally found it and heard some woman named Ellen telling him that she could help. Dean and I went down to their saloon, the Roadhouse. By the way, Dean had to drive a minivan as it was the only car working. Next time you see him, give him hell about it okay?" He asked, trying to lighten the mood.
"We went in and after trying to figure out exactly where we were Dean got held up by a young girl while I got held up by her mother. Ellen was the mother, Jo was her daughter. Found out that she used to be good friends with our dad as her husband was a hunter." He told her with a shake of his head. We worked a case and we left, nothing huge happened then but Ellen and Jo pop up quite a bit during the next couple of years so I figured telling you who they were now would make more sense later." He told her, realizing he sounded like he was telling a damn bedtime story.
"Anyway, we went on a few hunts but nothing really earth shattering happened until I had a vision about some guy who was hurting people. When we got there we realized that this kid Andy and his twin brother who he didn't know about Weber was actually the one doing the bad things, while Andy just used the power that he had, which was giving people instructions telepathically somewhat, he just used it for good...or as good as that power could be." He told her, knowing that he hadn't really explained his visions but he figured they would get explained eventually. “So after talking to Andy a bit more and promising to keep in touch we hit the road.” He told her, not going into detail about what happened to Weber.
"After that we headed to meet up with some weird ghost who ended up being H.H. Holmes, America's first serial killer. Unfortunately Jo showed up after lying to her mother and ended up getting Dean in trouble since Jo got kidnapped by the damn ghost. Luckily she came through in the end but let me just tell you, Ellen was pissed." He told her with a laugh, remembering the extremely uncomfortable car ride back with no music and no talking, however his grin faltered when he remembered exactly what happened next. "We had wondered for months why our dad never told us about Ellen and Jo...and we found out. Apparently our dad got Ellen's husband killed." He told her, shaking his head. "This seemed to be a trait of my father's... he didn't keep friends for long because he couldn't seem to keep them alive."
"After that we finally learned what exactly had happened to our father. We met up with a crossroads demon and Dean thought about trading his soul for our dad's life. That's when the demon told us exactly what happened with our father and why...something that even though he'll never admit it, Dean still feels guilty for. He didn't just die... our dad went to hell for Dean." He told her, knowing better than anyone how that felt. "Later on after we found out I said something and Dean just snapped. Finally told me what our father told him right before he did. He told him that he needed to watch out for me. Dean told him he would but my father told my big brother that if he couldn't save me, that he would have to be the one who would have to kill me." He told her, not daring to look at her face at the moment.
"I got pissed and that's when I met Ava, a girl who like me had visions." He told her, trying not to let his tone show how he really felt about Ava after what had gone down later in the year. His eyes widened as his memory took him to Madison and he groaned as he realized exactly what he would have to do. He looked Sarah this time, not wanting her to think badly of him for this but knowing that he had to be honest. He brushed her hair back from her face, allowing his fingers to linger longer than they should before dropping his hand and starting back up again.
"Dean and I caught wind of some werewolves that were causing trouble and we decided to investigate it. That's when we met Madison who we assumed was the werewolf's next target. I decided to stay and protect her while Dean did more digging." He told her, taking a deep breath, hating himself for what he was about to tell her. "It didn't take long for me to fall for her." He continued, leaving out the part about them sleeping together. He would be honest if she asked but he wouldn't offer up that information. "We later found out that she was actually the werewolf. Dean wanted to kill her and I told him no, I told him that we'd keep her locked up...I wanted to protect her. And she knew that. I tried to lie to her and tell her that we’d find a way to cure her…but Dean was upfront with her and told her that we couldn’t find anything. She asked me to help her…and I told her I would try. And that’s when she handed me the gun.” He told her, his eyes falling closed as he remembered the conversation at hand.
"Dean offered to do it...he told me that he would be the one to do it. But I told him no. She had asked me to be the one to do it. Dean tried to talk me out of it, telling me that I didn't have to, and I was standing there sobbing, telling him that yeah I did. I owed her that. He tried one more time but I took the gun and told him to wait there. He did as I asked and I went in the living room where she was standing, waiting...and I shot her." He told her, his head down as a tear rolled down his face.

------------------ ------------------ "Don't forget about you, I'm sure he would have done anything for you too," she said with a smile. She didn't know the type of relationship Sam and his father had but she knew that his father did care for him and although she didn't know the man she could just tell considering how Sam was now and how he was talking about his father. But the way Sam said that his father would do anything for Dean it just seemed weird and she shouldn't assume but it was as if he thought his father liked his brother more and if that was so then Sarah wouldn't believe it because Sam's father didn't die for just Dean he died for both of the boys and it made sense to Sarah why he would do it for the both of them because he loved them and didn't want one of them living without one another.
She felt his hand squeeze hers and it felt good she needed that to calm herself down a little bit. She laughed a little when he told her to give Dean hell about a minivan. "I'll definitely do that to piss him off if he ever annoys me," she told him still laughing a little bit. He had lightened the mood and it felt good she didn't want to be having this serious talk on a night where they had finally reunited but it had to be done and she knew that he was going to go on so that mood would probably be gone soon enough which she didn't want but it was good they were having it now, better to rip off that band-aid as people said.
There was just so much to Sam's life so much that she had missed. She honestly thought that maybe it was a few things but the list just kept piling up which kind of scared her but she was still listening. Some things were harder to hear than others but she was surviving and that was all that mattered. She didn't understand why Sam thought she'd walk away maybe there was just a lot of deaths as he traveled or maybe he had been on a date...she really hoped not and maybe that was selfish of her to think that and would want him to be alone all those years...then again she did want him to be happy so if he did date then she'd understand and be glad that whoever the girl was they weren't together anymore and hopefully it was because of a break up not a death.
She was still confused about Sam having visions, did it mean he was some kind of psychic? And did he still have the visions? All of these questions were just floating around in her head, she really wanted to know but once again not a good time to ask and if she had questions she'd just ask in the end because he might answer her questions without knowing. She didn't really know that there were people who had visions she just thought magic was all for witches and visions were just things that didn't exist but boy was she wrong about that and she didn't know how she could be so clueless basically everything existed.
America's first serial killer? Now that was weird on so many levels. They must have had trouble with that ghost. "I could only imagine how angry this Ellen would be at your father," she said to the Winchester boy. If one of Sam's friend had him killed Sarah would probably be pissed off and not even talk to the friend for most likely a really long time. It sucked how people who were trying to save the world or people had to die it was just unfair and she had wished that Sam's father was still alive, Sarah would have loved to meet him but that wasn't happening of course. She wondered were Ellen and Jo were though, were they in Richmond right now?
"Oh my god," she said with a frown and a shock. She couldn't believe it. Their father sacrificed himself and was in hell that was just a lot to take in. "Is he...still in hell?" She asked hoping that the Winchester's father was nowhere near hell. The next thing was just even worse. "What?" Dean would have to kill Sam? She had prayed that it was over and she was pretty sure it was considering Sam was still here and it had been years since this had happened, well she was pretty sure it had been years she didn't really know. So his history was getting deeper and deeper and more sad...yet he seemed so normal to her. She felt extremely bad for him no one should go through any of what he had been through.
So there was a girl down the road then and Sam hadn't really said much about her besides sharing visions but the two still had something in common right? Sarah wasn't going to start being jealous or protective it was just a common ground maybe the two were just friends. She gave Sam a small smile when he brushed her hair back from her face, it was another sense of comfort and she knew something worse was about to be said because of this, it must have been some kind of sign or something. She was prepared for more of his life wondering how much she could take, so far she was doing extremely well but maybe she shouldn't think that until Sam was done explaining what had happened in his life after he left Sarah at the steps.
The next thing she heard actually hurt a lot something that she hadn't felt in a long time, since her mother's death. The world felt like it was going dark and there was this pain in her heart that was screaming in agony. Sarah was stupid to think that maybe just maybe she would be the only girl that he fell for in a short amount of time, there'd be others and one of them was Madison. Maybe that connection she had with Sam was different for him...god this was hurting a lot. She looked at the table not sure what to do or say. She then looked up with hurt eyes but trying to hide them and she saw the tear roll down his face...he really did care for this girl. Maybe Sarah wasn't the special girl she had thought.
It was time for her to speak and she had to say something. "It must have been hard to shoot Madison when you could have loved her since you cared for her strongly in such a short amount of time...I'm sorry," she looked down at the table again processing his words and her own. She was really thinking now and it just really shocked her but he was an attractive guy and had an amazing personality so he was bound to find someone who he thought he could be with. She wondered what would have happened if Madison was still alive though, would he be with her right now? That was something Sarah didn't want to think about right now.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - He wanted so badly to agree with her and yet for some reason he felt the need to be completely truthful. “My father and I were never close.” He admitted. “He was always very resentful because I walked away from him and Dean to go to college. I never wanted to be a hunter and that was something that neither Dean nor my father could understand. The only reason I got back into the life was because Dean showed up at Stanford, broke into my apartment and scared the shit out of me, only to tell me that he needed my help because our dad was missing. It was only supposed to be for that weekend but when he dropped me off I went inside and that’s when I found Jess.” He told her, remembering that he had told her a little bit about Jessica dying but he knew he hadn’t told her the whole story.
“It was a demon that killed her and that lit a fire under my ass. The yellow eyed demon who killed my mother and who was after those people? Yeah, he was the one who killed Jessica as well. So when I realized that I knew that I couldn’t just hang up my hunting hat…I had to make sure that it didn’t kill anyone else.” He told her with a shake of his head, remembering how naive he had been back then. He had actually thought that after finding Azazel that he would be able to stop hunting and go back to a normal life…which clearly never happened. “Right before my father’s death we were still fighting…Dean says it’s because I’m more like my father than I realize but I don’t see it… then again maybe that’s a good thing that I don’t.” He told her with a laugh before continuing on with his story.
He shook his head at her question, smiling the first smile since he had begun. “No, the devil’s gate opened about a year after all that happened and he escaped and we are assuming he went up to heaven.” He told her, not knowing for sure since they had never found him when they themselves had been there.
Hearing her apologize he shook his head. “You have nothing to be sorry about. Madison was a woman who I cared about…and I could have possibly loved her given enough time however honestly, as bad as this sounds, since I ran into you again, all I’ve thought was thank god that it hadn’t been you.” He told her earnestly. “I hated having to do what I did but it was bearable…had it been you…I know I wouldn’t have been able to do what I did.” He whispered. He wasn’t sure why or how these feelings had erupted in him at the strength that they were but he knew damn well that he couldn’t walk away from Sarah again. He also knew that had the situation been reversed and Sarah had been in Madison’s place that he wouldn’t have recovered.
Knowing that the subject needed to be changed he continued, figuring that as soon as he got this all over with the better. “Anyway, after all that happened Dean and I went on another couple of hunts but we were still trying to track down Ava. The girl who I told you about that had visions also? Well I forgot to mention that I had a vision about her and when we went to check on her she was gone and her fiancé was murdered. The only sign that she had been there was her engagement ring was on the floor.” He told her, grimacing at the memory.
“So anyway with that back story Dean and I were on our way to…you know I don’t even remember where we were going, however we stopped to get food and I went in. I clearly remember Dean screaming at me to bring him some damn pie.” He told her with an almost fond chuckle. "The next thing I knew I was waking up in some place that quite literally looked like frontier land. I couldn't figure out exactly where I was at first, though it didn't take me long to realize why I was there. The first person I found was Andy, the guy who could make people do things by telling them mentally? We talked for a few minutes and that's when we heard screaming. I ran to what looked to be a boarded up stand up cellar and broke the lock, and inside I found Ava." He told her, still to this day not really believing how she had ended up.
"She told us that she had only been in there for a half an hour or so when in reality Dean and I had been looking for her for five months. Apparently she had no memory of it. She said something about her fiancé and I just couldn't tell her that he was dead...though thinking back on it I probably should have." He stated, a bit of venom lacing his voice as hard as he tried to hide it. "We also met two other people that none of us knew. A man named Jake who had enhanced strength...and I'm talking like the Incredible Hulk strength...and Lily, a woman who was not happy to be there, not that any of us really were. However she had a good reason to be upset. She had a physical power like Jake, accept this one was one that I couldn't see the good in. She touched someone and their heart stopped." He told her, remembering how Lily had spoken of touching her girlfriend with such sadness and anger that it made his heart break for the young woman.
"After awhile I figured out where we were. Cold Oak, South Dakota. It was the most haunted town in America...a town that made all of its residents flee. I tried to tell everyone but Lily didn't want to hear it. Lily ended up leaving when our backs were turned and when we walked outside she was hung up, dead. Jake and I ended up banning together to try and keep everyone calm and while he went to do something, I don't even remember what now, I had Andy and Ava put down salt. I then walked out to do something and when I came back Ava was gone. I told Andy to stay inside and went to look for her. I was barely gone for a minute when I heard Ava scream. I ran back in and found Andy with claw marks, dead." He told her, shaking his head.
"I looked around, and that's when I saw a break in the salt around the windows. I called Ava out on it and she told me that not only had she been the one to let the demon in, but she had been controlling the demons since we had gotten there. She had been there for five months and had killed all the people who had come before us. Before I could do or say anything else she started summoning the demon back in but she didn't get far enough when Jake came up behind her and snapped her neck." He continued. "It was just him and I then...and I really was naive enough to think that he would agree with me and try to figure out a way out of it. Unfortunately he didn't. We ended up fighting and I really thought I beat him. I heard Dean call my name and I went to meet him. Unfortunately I was a bit under the weather so to speak and I didn't have the reflexes I usually do so when Dean screamed out at me to look out I was a second too late and all of a sudden I felt this pain in my back and then nothing." He told her, his eyes looking into his, knowing that had he heard how she had been killed he wouldn't handle it well.
"I found out later that Jake had stuck a knife in my back and killed me." He told her, stopping to give her a chance to process before going on.

------------------ ------------------ "A Stanford boy, so you're reasonably attractive and smart," she said with a smile. She knew Sam was an intelligent guy and it was no surprise to her that he would go to Stanford but the only thing she was surprised was that he wasn't always in the hunting gig which kind of confused her a little bit. She would have thought that maybe he;d be with his brother and dad to the end, well he was with his brother now. "Oh," that's all she could say. Was she stupid? Why would she just say 'oh?' That was the worst but she didn't know what to say she knew he loved Jess. "I see you're not in that shell anymore. It must have been traumatic for you...if I could bring her back for you I would," she told him honestly. She just wanted him to be happy and if Jess was the girl for him he should have been able to be with her and Sarah wasn't glad that Jess was dead but Sarah was glad that Sam and herself had met.
She really hoped that Sam had caught this demon and killed it. Sam had lose two people he loved...no wonder he was in that shell. Sarah had only lost her mother and that damaged her greatly but Sam must have been more damaged than her. Sarah smiled at his laugh it didn't seem he was too upset about talking about this stuff or maybe it just hadn't gotten to the worst parts. She actually wondered what his father was like and if they were the same then wow. Sam had said that he didn't see it but usually people who saw from the outside observed more so maybe Dean was right about their father and Sam being alike she wished that she could find out.
She smiled when Sam said that his dad went to heaven. "Good," she said happily. A noble man should be at peace not being tortured for eternity, that just wasn't right at all. She wanted to say more but she needed to listen to the story since it wasn't done yet. She didn't know he had been through so much over the years. She wondered what he would bring up next and she was kind of scared to know which she shouldn't be since she would understand hopefully all of it, she at least knew she'd be able to accept whatever he had on his mind.
Sarah had smiled so widely it was unbelievable. She had felt like that special girl again knowing his feelings were the same as hers, just as strong. "Sam...I'm actually really happy you said that no matter how mean it sounds," she kind of felt bad for saying that but it was the honest truth she just felt special. She put her hand on his looking at him with happiness in her eyes. That hurt that she had was gone now and she couldn't believe it, he had actually said that. She could take a deep breath now which felt really good. She listened to him once again wanting to make sure she got ever detail.
She wondered where this Ava was now though, was she still alive? Or was she living a normal life? Sam would probably answer when he went further into his story. But it was weird how Ava was trapped in a cellar but stranger things have happened, it didn't add up though why would a demon put her in a cellar? Sarah didn\t think bout it too much since Sam would most likely mention Ava again at some point of his story. It was definitely a lot to take in and Sarah had underestimated the story thinking it would just be about a girl but there was a lot to it and a lot of sadness that came along with it.
"I never knew there was such a thing," she told the boy. That must have been hard for Lily to handle, maybe she had to become anti-social because of it or maybe not. She didn't know that someone could have the type of power to kill by just touching someone. Sarah just didn't get the whole superpower thing like the guy who was super strong but then again she was a slayer who was strong and had agility so she shouldn't be talking. Plus Sam had a superpower, or he did before at least.
There was a lot of dead bodies piling up in his story, how did Sam handle so much death? He truly was a strong and brave guy. First Lily and then Andy now this Ava was starting to become fishy. It was kind of reading a book accept it was audio so hearing one and in all honesty Sarah was feeling closer and closer to Sam as he told her about his life and what he had been through. She knew she would be able to trust him after he was done and accept his mistakes...yet so far he had no mistakes really. He probably blamed himself for some things but nothing was at his fault so far.
What really surprised her was the fact that Jake wasn't really a good guy and he and Sam had fought. Sarah looked at the boy's with her eyes watering but she held back her tears, they weren't to the point where she would tear up which was a good thing but still Sam could probably see her eyes looking wet. "W-what?" She said trying to process it all. "You died? But you're here with me right now...I mean you aren't a ghost," she her hand still with his. "You're real, I don't get how you're alive now," she said trying to breathe. She was probably overreacting but the dude was dead before so how did he come back alive? "I'm guessing you'll tell me...just you died and if you hadn't come back...we wouldn't have been here tonight," she said sadly. ------------------ Credit: Graphics by Britt! - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - He quirked his eyebrow and pretended to be offended. “Only reasonably attractive? I think Ms. Blake that I’m insulted.” He told her, resting his hand against his chest as if he was truly upset by the comment. He knew by the tone of her voice and the sparkle in her eye that he was only teasing but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t tease her right back. He liked the fact that she felt comfortable enough to tease him, it was something that had lacked in several relationships he had seen over the years. Truly the only one that he had ever felt this level of comfort with was Jessica and that was saying something.
He smiled a fond smile at both the memory of Jessica and Sarah. Taking her hand he gave it a squeeze before bringing it to his lips and kissing the back of it, not sure what had possessed him to do so but not finding that he was too embarrassed about it either. “Thank you.” He told her softly. He knew how much it had cost her to say that and to actually mean it, so the fact that she would willingly do something to bring about his happiness while causing herself pain said a lot. “However Jessica and I have made peace with one another. She came back at a time that I needed her and she gave up everything for me. I love her and that will never change…but I know for a fact that she wants me to be happy…just as I hope that she is happy in heaven…which is where she belongs.” He told her, again remembering Jess’ words and thinking briefly about telling Sarah.
After contemplating it for a moment he figured he would wait to give her Jess’ last words of advice, not wanting to scare her off more than he probably already would by the end of his story.
He could see the fear in her eyes and without thinking about it he slid closer to her, wrapping his large arms around her and pulling her to him, offering comfort in the only way he could at the moment. “I am real, I’m not a ghost. I promise all will be explained.” He told her, staring into her eyes trying to decide if she had heard enough. After several moments of silence he figured that she was ready for him to continue if for no other reason than to assure her that everything was alright now.
Clearing his throat he thought about how to proceed before figuring it was better to tell her how he remembered it rather than trying to fill in the blanks for his brother. "The next thing I knew I was waking up on a bed in some house that I had never been in. I felt the pain of a wound on my back and yet I didn't remember how it got there other than feeling said pain. I walked out and saw my brother, who looked like he had quite literally seen a ghost. I remember him pulling me into a huge and I couldn't figure out what the hell his issue was but he told me that it was touch and go for a minute but Bobby patched me up...and I didn't think anything of it."
"Anyway so we argued a bit because I wanted to go find out what Jake and Azazel were doing and Dean tried to get me to rest but I wouldn't listen. I didn't understand. We get to Bobby's and I really did think he was going to have a heart attack when he saw me. I thanked him for patching me up and he just sort of nodded. It's clear now that he tried to get Dean alone but it really didn't click then. So anyway all of a sudden they come back in but Ellen is with them. I forgot to mention that Dean had told me while driving to Bobby's that the Roadhouse, Jo and Ellen's place? It was burned down and we had all assumed Jo and Ellen were in it too. Luckily Ellen was out for something and Jo was working a job at the time so both of them were safe."
"So long story short we end up figuring out where everything is going down and we find out that the gun...the Colt that Azazel needed, yeah it's a key that opens a lock that opens the Devil's Gate. We get there and we see Jake, and I confront him. Don’t ask why but I remember this so clearly.” He told her, seemingly getting lost in his memories as he repeated the conversation word for word.
“Howdy, Jake.
Wait...you were dead. I killed you.
Yeah? Well next time, finish the job.
I did! I cut clean through your spinal cord, man. You can't be alive. You can't be.
I knew then…I knew that something had happened but I didn’t understand what. It wasn’t until the damn demon showed up…that I really understood. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Jake had learned a few new tricks from Azazel and tried to make Ellen shoot herself. Jake ended up putting the gun into the lock before we could stop him but luckily Dean and Bobby were able to get Ellen before she could hurt herself. Once she was okay I shot him four times in the back and then I got in front of him. I ended up shooting him three more times in the chest, wanting to make sure that he couldn't hurt anyone again. Dean pulled the colt from the door and we all hid behind headstones because unfortunately the door opened, the devil's gate opened."
He took a deep breath, wanting to finish this particular part of the story quickly as it was still painful to talk about. Dean had the idea about the demon but unfortunately he ended up showing up and getting the gun and flinging it out of his hand. He threw Dean and me into a damn tree and then he just sat there and talked. That's when I realized what had happened. He cocked the colt but before he could fire it at Dean our dad showed up and grabbed him, his body convulsing almost since he was still technically possessing a body. They wrestled a bit but he lost the gun somehow and when he opened his eyes he looked directly at Dean, who had gotten the Colt. He shot him and ended it...something that our father had been trying to do for 20 plus years."
He shook his head, knowing that he would definitely need about three days worth of sleep after this night but continued. “That’s when our dad ended up finally going to heaven. And that’s when I confronted Dean about what he had done. He made a deal, with a demon, to bring me back. Just like our father did for him. "Again, I remember that conversation so clearly as well." He stated, before seemingly once more slipping into a memory, reciting the lines word for word.
“Did you sell your soul for me, like Dad did for you?
Oh, come on! No!
Tell me the truth. Dean, tell me the truth.
Sam...
How long do you get?
One year. I got one year.
You shouldn't have done that. How could you do that?
Don't get mad at me. Don't you do that. I had to. I had to look out for you. That's my job.
And what do you think my job is?
What?
You've saved my life over and over. I mean, you sacrifice everything for me. Don't you think I'd do the same for you? You're my big brother. There's nothing I wouldn't do for you. And I don't care what it takes, I'm gonna get you out of this. Guess I gotta save your ass for a change.”
He finally finished this particular year, negating telling her about the army of demons that had escaped, knowing that it would come up later but feeling as if she got the gist of what had gone on.

------------------ ------------------ Sarah laughed, "You should be. Maybe I'll just call you attractive from now on depending the type of mood I'm in," she told him with a wink. It was great just to tease him, she felt comfortable enough to do it even though they literally had known each other for what? A couple of days still, they still had a lot to know about each other which actually really excited her and him telling his life story made her feel more connected to him. Sarah had a lot of dates back then before her mother had died and to be honest none of the guys that she had met or dated for a decent amount of time made her feel the way she did with Sam and considering it hadn't been long for the two she knew her feelings would just grow more the more they got to know each other and spend time together.
She smiled at his kiss on her hand, she had felt a slight tingle in her hand once he did. She didn't know Jess but the way Sam had talked about her Sarah knew Jess was probably an amazing girl and it really did hurt her how Sam had lost someone he really loved. "So, you got to say your goodbyes then," she said with a small smile. She wondered how heaven worked though, was Jess with Sam's parents just watching over him and protecting him? And was Sarah's mom doing the same thing for her? She honestly didn't know know and she wished that she could understand but life was always mysterious like that. She was just glad that Sam actually was finally able to say goodbye, it must have been hard for him to see her go though even if he did get to say it.
Sam had pulled her in and she didn't know what to do. The water in her eyes just wouldn't stop. He was dead and he wouldn't have been able to see him ever again if he wasn't here right now. She gripped his shirt with her hands not wanting to let go. She gave him a nod wanting him to explain further more but she didn't want to move at all, she still wanted to be in his arms, she wasn't letting him go after what he had just told her, she was quite scared though, wondering how he was back. Was it through some type of spell or something? She still couldn't believe that he died. She wanted to know so badly how he was still here today.
She wondered how he could remember the conversations though since they were so far back. She hoped that Sam was okay with being back alive, well he seemed like he was okay with it. She just didn't understand why this demon wanted Sam badly and why Jake would just stab someone who was a good guy, it was Sam.... She was glad to know that whoever Ellen and Jo were, were safe from that fire. Everything was just going to hell for Sam at that time well he was back alive so it couldn't have been all that bad but she wasn't going to assume though because usually things always went bad especially in the supernatural. She hope it wouldn't be too bad though.
Sarah was rooting for Sam and Dean and everyone else who was on the good side in her mind. She really hoped that the gate didn't open. Sam had killed Jake though which he deserved because had killed Sam and tried to kill Ellen so clearly the guy didn't deserve to live. Jake was basically a criminal and that made Sarah sick, she was glad that he wasn't here today trying to cause a problem. But then things became worse when the gate opened, she wondered what this gate did though besides letting someone go into hell, did it mean that demons could come on earth even though there were some on earth already?
Sarah was happy that the demon that killed his mother and girlfriend was finally dead. Something that did that didn't deserve to live and it didn't. It was finally over and there didn't have to be revenge but still the gate was open so maybe that was why Sam had stayed a lot longer since it was his and Dean's responsibility, well not really but they did a good thing if they were just hunting to save people. She couldn't believe that Sam's father was hunting the demon for twenty years though, that was a long time just hunting for something and that took a lot of dedication. But he did lose someone he loved just like Sam so she understood why he took the time to hunt this demon down, good thing they killed the demon finally though
Dean had sold his soul to save Sam now that was just wow. Sarah couldn't believe what she was hearing, Dean seemed like an amazing brother. She knew Sam would have probably done the same for Dean. "Wow, your brother did that for you? You guys really do look out for each other. I'm just gonna make an assumption and guess that Dean got his soul back," Dean was still alive so something must have happened. "So much has happened to you though...and aren't you just getting started?" She asked the boy. She wondered how much there was to his life, it was just so much to take in and she still wanted to be with him so that had to be something right? She did hear some things that made her upset but so far she was actually okay, she knew that her feelings wouldn't change for him, so both of them had nothing to worry about.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - He nodded at her question before stopping, wondering how he would truthfully answer. “I’ll admit that there is a lot more that I need to tell you but I will say that I probably won’t go into as much detail as I have been. I’ll tell you the gist of most of it but the reason I had to go into so much detail earlier is because a lot of it is relevant to the next few years.” He told her, knowing that he sounded like a walking novel but knowing that he needed her to understand why he had dragged on certain things before starting up again. He dropped a kiss to her forehead before continuing.
"So I was hell bent on finding a way to save my brother while he was living his life up and doing anything he could to make the last year the best that he could. He honestly was driving me nuts because I wanted him to fight and he was more concerned with sleeping with whoever he wanted and eating whatever he wanted to be as big of a help as I felt like he should be. We argued a few times but finally I kept just trying to figure out a way to find a damn way out and he just kept living it up. I got myself into a sticky situation and then some blonde girl busts in with a knife that can kill demons. I asked her who she was and all she said was that she was the girl who just saved my ass before walking away." He told her, almost cringing at the memory of Ruby. It wasn’t that he didn’t care about her because unfortunately he did, that was what made it so difficult.
Looking back on it he wasn’t sure what had changed. He knew that when Ruby had been around while Dean had been alive (before he went to hell) she had been completely different than when she had come back in a different body. He briefly wondered if bodies of those possessed could somehow manipulate the demon itself and made a mental note to call Bobby to ask him. He had never thought about it but he knew that there was something different about the current Ruby and the one who had lost her vessel due to Lilith’s intrusion…and of course the hell hounds and whatever he had done to scare the pants off of Lilith.
"So anyway we leave town and are looking for answers when Dean decides he wants to work on a case. I try and refuse when he finally admits that the case that he wants to look into is in Cicero, Indiana. Now this didn't really make any sense to me as I didn't remember hearing anything about Cicero, Indiana but apparently he had a hot weekend with a woman named Lisa Braeden about 8 years prior and really wanted to drop in to see her. So he dropped me off at the hotel and I meet up with Ruby again, this she gave me some cryptic nonsense about looking into my mom's past...though before I could Dean let me know that there was a case in the town. Anyway, we ended up saving the town which had targeted the kids and that's when I found out that a crazy amount of my mom's friends had been killed...and that's also when I found out that Ruby was a demon...one that apparently wanted to help us…well…help me.”
“I didn’t believe her but she somehow convinced me…by telling me that she could help me save Dean.” He continued on, hating how weak he had been at that point. He had willingly listened to a demon in order to save his brother, when he knew damn well that his brother wouldn’t want to be saved like that. He hadn’t cared though…and that had ended up costing them a lot.
"Anyway, so Ruby became somewhat of a helper. Though she did finally admit later that there was no way that she could help me save Dean...but she kept telling me that I could do something about it. She tried to get me to start using my psychic powers that hadn't happened since Azazel died but I refused and finally she admitted that it was too late. We found out that the demon who held Dean's contract was a demon named Lilith...who was one of the worst. We did whatever we could to fight her off and even planned on taking her out." He continued, knowing he had skipped a lot but he was tired of rehashing past events and instead wanted to start focusing on the future and not the past.
“We had a great plan, until we got into the room that we needed to be in and Dean realized that the person wearing Ruby’s body wasn’t Ruby any more…it was Lilith. She opened the doors and the hell hounds came in. Hell hounds are the dogs of hell and they are invisible to the human eye. Only way you can see them is if you are a demon or if you are so close to hell’s door that you might as well be on the other side. Lilith had me cornered and I had to watch as my brother was torn apart by those damn hell hounds. After that this strange white light came from me and Lilith freaked out and bailed. After she was gone I just fell to Dean’s side and sobbed for hours before having enough sense to call Bobby and ask him to come.” He finished, wiping a tear from his cheek at the memory of watching his brother being killed.

------------------ ------------------ "Feels like I'm studying for some kind of test or reading a book," she said with a little laugh. She was glad to hear about what Sam had been through but at this point it seemed like he'd be going for a couple hours or something, probably not but still it felt like it. She wasn't complaining at all, she was actually glad that he would be sharing so much with her, it meant he was comfortable and trusted her to stay. She trusted herself to stay as well and she couldn't wait to just tell him that. She felt his kiss, wanting to kiss him on the lips she resisted knowing that she couldn't so early especially when he was telling a story but she did smile when he kissed her on the forehead,he was just really cute. Sarah actually couldn't have been any happier, she really picked a good night to patrol, even though the two would have probably ran into each other at some point in this town she was glad it was tonight that they did, it just felt better.
Once again listening she couldn't believe Dean wasn't doing anything to try and save his own life, Sam had to do it all. Maybe Dean just didn't have any hope in it and made peace with selling his soul. Sam must have felt really guilty though, with his brother doing that for him. Then Sarah heard about some girl and at first she thought it was a slayer but it couldn't have been because no slayer had a special weapon well besides the scythe so it had to be some human right? Maybe another hunter. There was a lot of hunters out their surprisingly, Sarah assumed that there would only be a select few but apparently not, she was definitely glad Sam never quit hunting because it led him to Richmond. She also wanted to know more about the knife but there really wasn't a point since Sarah had a weapon she liked to use which was the bow and arrow.
A lot more made sense when Sam had said Ruby was a demon. There were good demons out there take Angel for example, she hadn't met the guy yet but she had heard a lot of great things about him but she heard a lot of bad things because of his past without a soul. She wondered why the demon would choose to help Sam though considering he was a hunter, wasn't Ruby scared that he would try and kill her or something? The girl definitely had guts. She wanted to know more about this Ruby because the demon seemed extremely important to his story considering he was mentioning her more than once, hopefully she was trustworthy and didn't betray the boys but Sarah would have to listen to the story more to find out.
So, if Ruby was evil then she had just tricked Sam by saying she could help Dean that was actually pretty clever but still horrible. She really hoped this part of the story didn't have a bad ending, if Ruby did end up being evil then hopefully the Winchester brothers triumphed and killed her. Sarah didn't want to hear anything upsetting because she was seriously on the brink of crying. When Sam had said he died that kind of tore her a little, at least he was alive but still she imagined it when he said it and all she could see was his lifeless body which she would never want to see he had to be alive for her. She was thinking way too into it and needed to calm down, she just knew that it would kill her if Sam had died and if she had known about it back then that would have hurt a lot more than it did now, this was different since he was telling her and he was clearly alive and breathing.
Then Lilith came into play and Sarah wondered who she was. There were just so many demons that the boys had faced and probably more. Hopefully they ended up killing Lillith so Dean could live and she was thinking that they did considering he was still here but who knew at this point. She just waited to hear more before she would assume anything else. She really hoped that this part of the story wasn't something extremely sad, it better be something happy...of course she didn't get the happy story she wanted and she knew that she wouldn't but Sam's next words shocked her.
She looked up at Sam seeing the pain in his eyes. She felt bad for him, he had watched his brother die...he had been through a lot first with his mom and girlfriend then dad and then losing his brother, how did he get through it all? "Sam...," she wrapped her arms around him wanting to take the the memory away even though she knew she couldn't, she was no witch. "You've been through so...much," she told him with a frown. "I know that he's back alive but that moment must have been the worst moment knowing you were...alone," she told him. "I'm happy you're telling me all of this but if you don't want to go on I understand," she said not wanting to force him. She did want to hear more but if it was too hard for him tonight then she wouldn't mind at all with changing the subject, she didn't want him to be thinking about the past and become unhappy. ------------------ Credit: Graphics by Britt! - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - He smiled thankfully at her before shaking his head. “I need to go on, because I need you to know what has gone on in the past few years. I’m not proud of a lot of what I’ve done…and I’ve hurt a lot of people, including my brother. I’ve made a lot of mistakes…and I won’t forget those nor will I ever stop trying to atone for them. However I can’t pretend that they didn’t happen and I can’t pretend that my mistakes haven’t in some way shaped who I am today. I wish I could still be that person you met, but too much has happened and if we have any chance of becoming anything other than just friends…I need you to know this me.” He finished before taking a deep breath and continuing off from where he left off.
“Seeing Dean like that, I still have nightmares about it. It was one of the worst moments if not the worst moment of my life. My brother and I may get on each other’s nerves more than most siblings because we are together all day every day but that doesn’t matter at the end. He’s my big brother, but he’s also my best friend. I had no idea how I was going to deal without him. Once Bobby and I buried him I took off on my own, taking Dean’s Impala and pretending that he was just sleeping in the back or something, until I finally couldn’t ignore it anymore. I threatened anyone and everyone that I could possibly think of, and none of them could give me an answer, so I killed them all. The crossroads demon, well, one or two of them at least, vampires, werewolves, it didn’t matter to me. If they couldn’t help me, they were no use to me.” He told her, hating the way that he could easily remember the feeling of desperation on his shoulders.
About a month after some random girl shows up in my car, well, Dean’s car. It took me awhile to realize who she was and after I figured out that it was Ruby, just in another vessel, I was pissed at her for taking some poor girl for a ride. So I told her to get lost essentially and a couple days later she showed up in another vessel, this one of a coma patient who would never wake up again.” He didn’t want to tell her about what had happened between him and Ruby but he knew she had to know. He knew better than anyone how cunning Ruby was and if he didn’t tell Sarah, eventually Ruby would.
“She could see that I was drowning and she offered me what I wanted most other than Dean back, and that was Lilith’s head on a stick. She told me she could help me hone my skills in order to become strong enough to kill her. I knew what she wanted, what she had wanted from the beginning. She wanted me to use my psychic powers and in that moment I had no reason to say no. I hadn’t used them before because Dean didn’t want me to. But Dean was gone, and I had nothing else to lose. Ruby apparently wasn’t prepared for me to say yes, and I have a feeling that she knew I was drunk off my ass, and it threw her for a minute, and she gave me this whole speech about how strong Lilith was…and how she was up to something evil…shocker among shockers.” He stated, trying to insert a bit of humor in an otherwise very humorless conversation.
“I asked her what she wanted from me and I remember her words exactly. ‘A little patience, and sobriety, promise me that…and I’ll teach you everything I know’. I remember her trying to teach me what to do and I couldn’t do it. I was a crappy student, which is ironic seeing as I was a damn good student back in law school, though clearly these were two different types of learning. We went back to where I was staying that night and she told me it would get better. I rolled my eyes at her and said something about I needed more practice, and that’s when she was actually kind for the first time in quite a while. She told me she didn’t mean about the demons, she meant about being without my brother. I didn’t want to hear about it, I didn’t want her to be kind or nice, I wanted her to be someone that I could continue hating because if I didn’t…I was scared what I would feel for really the only person I had left.” He continued, his eyes on Sarah’s as he spoke about another woman who had been in his life. He knew not many would understand his feelings for Ruby and truthfully he still didn’t understand them, but he knew that they never measured what he felt for Sarah.
“And that’s when she kissed me after telling me that I wasn’t alone. At first I rejected it and then I just let it go. That was the start of Ruby and I’s relationship. We slept together that night and quite a few other nights afterward… and during that she taught me how to do what I needed to do. I was able to take my anger and hurt out on her without worrying about her abandoning me because I truly wasn’t able to care, though I did care about her. I realized later on how wrong I was.” He told her, skipping over the demon blood issues. He couldn’t bear to tell her those now…maybe later…but that was one thing that he didn’t want to have to face yet.
“This went on for months until her and I were at my hotel room and there was a knock on the door. Ruby answered it and saw Dean with Bobby, and pretended to be some random girl. I freaked when I saw him and did everything imaginable to make him prove that he was who he said he was. Finally I just hugged him, I couldn’t even think, I just knew that my big brother was back…that I wasn’t alone anymore. I didn’t even think about what that would mean. Ruby left and that’s when they confronted me about how I had brought him back. It took forever to get them to realize that I hadn’t made a deal, but that I had tried. Bobby and Dean went out looking for answers and I went back to Ruby, though I hid it from Dean for a long time.”
“Dean and Bobby ended up meeting the entity that brought him back from hell, an angel named Castiel. This led to a lot of conflicts because angels aren’t anything like what we have been told. They’re not loving or righteous or soft tempered, they do what they are told. They are soldiers in a war that we haven’t even begun to understand. The angels were up our asses constantly and while we knew part of it was because of Castiel bringing Dean back, we had a feeling that it was something bigger. We learned that angels and demons are similar in the way that they have to possess someone in order for us to see them. Demons take what they want, angels have to be let in. Dean and I had no idea why we were learning all of this until we found out that Michael’s sword was on earth. We went to where we told and several angels showed up. Dean found out that he was the Michael Sword…he was Michael’s vessel.” He told her, dreading telling her about his own part in that.
“We learned that there was this prophesized battle that was supposed to take place between Michael and Lucifer, which was the reason that we were trying so desperately to make sure that Lilith stopped breaking the seals, since that’s what would set Lucifer free.” He told her, continuing on because he knew he had to get this out or else he’d never go back to it. “We did everything we could and finally I thought that I was ready to kill Lilith. Dean didn’t think that it was right, because Castiel told him things that I didn’t know. The final seal was Lilith’s death…and I didn’t know it. I had listened to Ruby and gone after Lilith thinking that I was saving us, when in reality I was damning us. We get to where Lilith was and it was too easy.” He continued, his mind on that day, wishing more than anything that he had listened to his brother rather than trusting a demon.
“She bled out, and the blood seemed to go in a specific direction. I didn’t understand. I asked Ruby what was going on and she looked at me and said that he was free at last. And it is written that the first demon shall be the last seal. I asked her why me and she laid out some cryptic answer about how it was always going to be me and how he’d repay me in ways that I couldn’t imagine. Finally Dean broke through the door and had the knife that killed demons in his hand. Ruby smirked and told him he was too late and he said he didn’t care. I came up behind her and held her there and Dean stabbed her. God I remember crying and telling him I was sorry. I didn’t know. I remember Dean grabbing me jacket as I clutched on to his shirt. He kept telling me 'Sammy let's go' and I knew that he was coming. Lucifer was rising right in front of us and neither of us could leave. There was this white light that seemed to blind us and this noise that god I wanted to claw my ears out. My brother and I knew we were going to die and then suddenly it stopped, we were on a plane and had absolutely no idea how we got there."
Dean and I had a lot of issues because of me trusting a demon over my own blood, and we took a break from each other. All of a sudden I was alone again only this time it was my own fault. I started having these hallucinations of Jessica, telling me all sorts of things. And that’s when I realized…it wasn’t Jessica. It was Lucifer. I hated him and I wanted so badly to kill him, but how do you kill the devil? He spoke about this huge battle between him and Michael. A battle that was between brothers.” He told her, wondering if she understood but knowing that it was almost impossible to even conceive until one said it out loud. “And then he looked at me…and that’s when it clicked. The battle between Lucifer and Michael…the battle between brothers… was also the battle between me and Dean. Dean was Michael’s vessel and I was Lucifer’s.”
He held his breath waiting for an explosion, knowing that there was likely one coming.

------------------ ------------------ "It doesn't matter how much you've changed since the last time we met...I still see the same you as I did before," she told him seriously. Yeah, maybe he was different but she still viewed him as Sam. "You're still the sweet guy that I fell for," she said with a small smile. She was telling the complete truth, she would still care for him. He still had the same personality and maybe it was altered but it wasn't the biggest change. Sarah knew that she wanted to be with him and soon she would by the end of the night hopefully. She was hearing him out no matter how bad it was she still sat and listened to every word. She truly wondered if Sam thought that she could walk away from something that could be really special. "I'll still like the new you," once again telling the truth, she was just glad to have him back and she wasn't going to let him go because of him being different, people were bound to change over the few years.
Sam had went on a vendetta basically and he had the right to, he watched his brother died and that was just horrifying. Sarah didn't have any siblings but she knew that Sam probably had felt guilt and a lot of pain for the loss of his big brother. Then Ruby was brought back into the mix and Sarah just had a feeling about this girl, who exactly was she? She wondered why the demon just kept showing up though, did the demon want something exactly? Or did she just want to be Sam's friend just so she could help? Sarah had no idea and she knew her questions would be answered soon just she wanted to know so much about everything and this Ruby girl just didn't make Sarah feel okay, and maybe she was wrong and it was just her jealousy but Ruby just seemed fishy to her.
Sarah smiled at his humour. He was being cute and she liked that, she really needed that humour because this conversation was in a way making her sad because of what he had been through and then there was just so much death, she felt really bad for him. Sarah hadn't been through a lot, she basically had a good life. Then it all started to make sense once again, Sam yet again had another woman in his life and Sarah couldn't help but feel jealous. She knew she shouldn't be but he had felt something for Ruby while Sarah could barely feel anything with any guy she went on a date with. It was just hard to hear him talk about Ruby, and for a second she wondered if he had stronger feelings for Ruby when he had started to get to know her more than Sarah.
Sarah tried to look in his eyes but looked at the sky for a couple of seconds when he had said the two had slept together. He had slept with a demon and she had nothing against demons but it was someone he had feelings for back then, maybe Sarah was just crazy for feeling jealous. She then turned her attention back to him looking at him once again even though it was hard. She just needed to stop and process all of it. It was the past and Ruby was basically just another girl. Her mood was lifted a little bit when Sam had said Dean came back alive just because he had changed the topic about Ruby, she wondered if Ruby was still around and if she was then that would make for an awkward conversation if the two ever bumped into each other, hopefully they didn't.
She couldn't believe that an angel actually saved Dean from hell. And Dean was Michael's vessel? God, there was just a lot to take in. So, Ruby was the bad guy. Wow, if Sarah could just have one word with her right now. Ruby had used Sam which was just stupid of her. And now Lucifer was rising? Sam had really seen it all. She wondered what would have happened if that white light didn't come though, would they have truly died? She knew that Lucifer was evil but pretending to be Sam's ex was horrible...how could he do that? A fight between brothers though, what did that exactly mean? The next words shocked Sarah something that just made her completely frustrated and annoyed with an angel and devil.
"What?!" She said with still shock in her. "You and Dean were expected to fight? And your Lucifer's vessel?" She just couldn't wrap her head around it. "I'm sorry but I can't believe they would try and pit you and your brother against each other by using your bodies...are you still Lucifer's vessel?" She wanted to know and she wasn't going to walk away if he still was, if he was then they would figure out a way to make him not be if there was a way. "Both Michael and Lucifer seem like bastards," she said a little angrily. "I'm guessing the war will always be going on between the two," she said with a sigh. If Sam was still the vessel hopefully he wouldn't be when he died of old age, he would die of old age right? A vessel would be able to die and a new one could be taken? She didn't really know much about this stuff but she was willing to learn at least. ------------------ Credit: Graphics by Britt! - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - He could see the surprise in her eyes before the questions came. None of them were questions that he wasn’t expecting though he would admit to wishing he didn’t’ have to answer them. “You’ll understand more once I continue. I promise I’ll answer any questions you have but first you have to understand what all happened. To answer your question though as briefly as possible. Yes, I can still be Lucifer’s vessel if I said yes…which I won’t. He can’t enter me unless I give him permission and I won’t do that. Plus he’s back in hell where he deserves…but anyway…back on track.” He told her with a small vulnerable smile, one that was rarely shown on the large man’s face.
He tried to think of how to continue without explaining the demon blood and everything that went down that road. He knew that it was wrong to keep that bit of knowledge from Sarah, especially since he had opened up to her about everything else but he felt as if he had to keep it from her. He knew it was a bad idea since it wouldn’t surprise him if someone else brought it up, but after everything else she learned tonight he really didn’t want burden her with his blood addiction too.
“I called Dean as soon as I made it clear, or I thought I had made it clear, and told him what had gone on. I told him that I wanted to hunt with him again even though we had taken some time apart. It was tense for awhile because he didn’t trust me not to run off and find another demon to be with and I was questioning myself because of the whole Lucifer thing. We also were constantly on the lookout for angels since they wanted Dean to say yes to Michael and me to say yes to Lucifer. Finally it seemed as if we were getting back on track though which was nice since the next few hunts weren’t that easy and we needed to trust one another rather than constantly question the other.” He told her honestly, remembering things such as Jessie, the half human half demon that had turned Castiel into an action figure, Dean getting turned into an old man, The Trickster or Gabriel as they later learned putting them into tv land, and the Supernatural convention that almost drove him and Dean off the deep end.
“About two months later we had this insane plan… we were going to kill Lucifer. We were going to use the Colt that was rumored to kill anything and kill Lucifer. It was an insane plan; one that I think we both knew wouldn’t work but for some reason he felt the need to ignore what everyone kept telling us and try to figure out how to save ourselves and each other.” He told her, remembering how it ended but knowing he had to get to the lead up first. "We heard from a demon named Crowley that Lucifer was in Carthage so that's where we went... unfortunately when we got there Lucifer made it to where no one's powers worked which meant Castiel's didn't work. The entire town is at a standstill and according to Bobby he was trying to summon death. Anyway, we met up with Jo and Ellen again, though to this day I wished they had been anywhere but there. Meg was there, a demon who had messed with us on more than one occasion and she let loose a couple hell hounds in order to catch us. They didn't get us but they attacked Jo, and injured her in a way that it was only a matter of time before she died." He told her, a single tear dripping down his cheek as he remembered the woman who he could have easily seen as a sister had they been given more time.
“We were able to get inside and use every measure we could to keep the hell hounds away but we knew that none of us would get out alive had we left. Jo was weak and losing a lot of blood and it was just not going well. We were all devastated. "It was Jo that came up with the plan when it settled on us that we were in a hardware store. God I remember the look on her face when she told us how it was going to be. She was one of the bravest women I had ever met and let me just tell you I have a feeling that if Dean and I are ever crazy enough to have children, we will argue over who gets the rights to name one after her because she deserves it and more. She told us that we had to get our priorities straight..." He trailed off before seemingly slipping into the memory once more and giving the word by word conversation that had passed the young hunter's lips.
"Mom. I can't fight. I can't walk. But I can do something. We got propane, wiring, rock salt, iron nails, everything we need. Everything we need? To build a bon, Sam. No. Jo, No. You got another plan? You got any other plan? Those are hellhounds out there, Dean. They've got all of our scents. Those bitches will never stop coming after you. We let the dogs in, you guys hit the roof, make a break for the building next over. I can wait here with my finger on the button, rip those mutts a new one. Or at least get you a few minutes' head start, anyway. No, I-I won't let you. This is why we're here, right? If I can get us a shot on the devil- Dean, we have to take it. That's not... Mom. This might literally be your last chance to treat me like an adult. Might wanna take it?"
Sam seemed to come out of it before looking back at Sarah. "I remember the look on her face, it was the one that told us we all could do nothing but listen to her. She was smiling, she knew she was going to die but by god she was still going to be a part of that fight. Ellen started sobbing but her voice steady as she looked at Dean and I and told us that we had heard her and to get to work. I couldn't imagine what she was going through, knowing her child was going to literally commit suicide in order to get us a chance. We made the bomb, doing everything we could slowly in order to get it right, but also to try and slow time down. Once it was finished I remember taking her hand and squeezing it, wanting so badly to say something, anything, but because we hadn't spent much time together I couldn't think what to say. I remember watching as Dean walked over to her and gave her the button she would have to push. He told her that this was it and that he would see her on the other side, probably sooner rather than later. She gave him her trademark smirk and told him make it later. Even when she knew what was going to happen she was still the same old Jo.” He told her with a fond smile of remembrance.
"I then watched as Dean kissed her on the forehead, and then on the lips and then just sat there with their heads pressed together before getting up. We both watched as Jo and Ellen started at each other. Jo understood before we did. Jo just shook her head and told her no." He told her before again, repeating the conversation word for word.
Somebody's gotta let them in. Like you said, you're not moving. You got me, Jo. And you're right, this is important. But I will not leave you alone here. Dean... Get going now, boys. Ellen...I said go. And Dean? Kick it in the ass. Don't miss.” He came out of it again, his eyes wet with the unshed tears. “I remember walking away, knowing what they were both about to do, it was one of the hardest things either of us had ever done. It was up there with one of the worst things in my life, tied only with Dean being ripped apart by hellhounds.” He confided. We get to Lucifer and it seems like it's going to work fine...which should have told us that we were completely off base. I distract him and Dean cocks the colt. He fires it off and shoots him point blank in the head. We really did think that it had worked, until he got up and threw Dean into a tree. Castiel ended up getting us out of there eventually but when we got back to Bobby's that night...and he found out about Jo and Ellen. It was...I don't even know how to describe it." He told her, knowing he glossed over a bunch but it was so much that he just wanted to get it done. He knew he should go into detail about what happened when they visited heaven but he knew that Sarah wouldn't like hearing about his death again...especially not when it was going to get worse. So instead he skipped over it, going right to the end. "I forgot to mention that we found out that we had a half brother, Adam. It's a long story, one I'll explain in more detail later. Anyway so we find out that he is Plan B for the angels because they don't trust Dean to say yes. We tried to save him from it but we unfortunately couldn't as he had already said yes to Michael." He continued, knowing that the worst was yet to come. "We had learned that Lucifer had been in a cage in hell all this time, and that was where he needed to be put back. The key to the cage was all four horseman's rings. We already had two, we just had to get pestilence's and death's. Castiel was able to get the one off of Pestilence and Dean made a deal with Death which was insane but he ended up getting it. So we had all four rings which made the key." He continued before taking a deep breath. “I knew what I had to do…and I knew at that moment when I looked at my brother how he was going to take it. I told him I wanted to say yes to Lucifer to get him back into the cage. Dean didn’t agree with me and we fought…god it was one of the worst fights that we had ever had because he knew that I was right and yet he didn’t want me to do it anyway. He knew that if we didn’t end this that the world would go up in flames...but it didn’t matter to him. At that moment he wasn’t a hunter…he was just my big brother.” He told her, shaking his head at the thought of over protective sibling. “I don’t know what happened but Bobby apparently talked to him and he came outside and told me that he was down with the plan. I remember asking him if he was going to let me say yes...like I needed his permission. He seemed to get that too because he told me "No. That's the thing. It's not on me to let you do anything. You're a grown -- well, overgrown -- man. If this is what you want, I'll back your play." I told him that it was the last thing I thought I'd ever heard him say. He told me "Might be. I'm not gonna lie to you, though. It goes against every fiber I got. I mean, truth is... You know, watching out for you... it's kinda been my job, you know? But more than that, it's... it's kinda who I am. You're not a kid anymore, Sam, and I can't keep treating you like one. Maybe I got to grow up a little, too. I don't know if we got a snowball's chance. But... But I do know that if anybody can do it... it's you." He continued. "He asked me then if this was what I wanted and I told him exactly what I would say now if anyone asked. It was me who let him out...it was me who had to put him back in. Sam took another breath before skipping over the having to drink massive amounts of demon blood in order to be strong enough. He knew that one day he would have to tell her but he couldn't do it just yet. "We were driving to Detroit and I finally brought it up to Dean." He told her before repeating the conversation as if it had been yesterday. " This thing goes our way and I...Triple Lindy into that box... y-you know I'm not coming back.Yeah, I'm aware. So you got to promise me something.Okay. yeah. Anything.you got to promise not to try to bring me back. What? No, I didn't sign up for that.Dean...Your Hell is gonna make my tour look like Graceland. You want me just to sit by and do nothing?Once the Cage is shut, you can't go poking at it, Dean. It's too risky. No, no, no, no, no. As if I'm just gonna let you rot in there.Yeah, you are. You don't have a choice. You can't ask me to do this.I'm sorry, Dean. You have to.So then what am I supposed to do?You go find Lisa. You pray to god she's dumb enough to take you in, and you -- you have barbecues and go to football games. You go live some normal, apple-pie life, Dean. Promise me. ” Pulling out of his thoughts he squeezed Sarah’s hand gently, knowing that it was hard to hear everything. Hell even someone who had no ties to either him or Dean had to feel something after hearing it all. "We got to Detroit and I started saying goodbye to everyone, though we tried to make it sound like that wasn't what it was. Bobby told me "He gets in... You fight him tooth and nail, you understand? Keep swingin'. Don't give an inch." I just told him "Yes sir." I asked Dean not to watch as I prepared and then I did what I had to do. It was time and we walked in. Unfortunately Lucifer knew we were there. He also knew about our plan. I still said yes. Lucifer took over but I was still there. I watched him pretend to be me to mess with Dean before he closed the cage and took the key and vanished. He was still there though when Dean started to cry." He let on, having never told Dean that little tid bit. "Him and I argued for quite awhile, which was weird since he was literally arguing with himself yet he could almost see me. It was weird. The things that he did...they were awful...and I was there for every minute of it. Then all of a sudden we were in a cemetery. Adam, my half brother, was inside Michael...and I was inside Lucifer. I remember screaming out, trying to find a way out, but I couldn't. Him and Michael talked for awhile, and it was strange but Lucifer was actually trying to talk Michael out of fighting. He didn't want to fight but Michael said he had to. So the two just started circling each other. And then loud music came on...and I knew who had joined the party." He told her with a shake of his head. "He showed up and walked right in between the two most powerful beings in creation, and told them that he needed five minutes alone with me. Dean told Adam he was sorry and Michael said he wasn't home. So what does Dean say? 'Well then you're next on my list, buttercup." This shockingly enough didn't go over well with Michael but before he could kick Dean's ass Castiel and Bobby showed up. Castiel threw holy fire at Michael and he disappears. He told Dean that he had his five minutes. Unfortunately Lucifer seemed to still not want anyone to mess with Michael so he killed Castiel, and then turned to Bobby and killed him too. I had to sit there and watch when he murdered Castiel and then I had to feel it as he snapped Bobby's neck. “ He admitted before taking a break to try and gather his thoughts. “But it was when Lucifer started beating the shit out of Dean that I started to really gain strength. Dean just sat there and kept talking to Lucifer, to me... I remember him saying that it's okay and he was there and he wasn't going to leave me. I tried to gain enough strength to take over but it wasn't until I caught a glimpse of this army figure in the ashtray of the Impala that he got distracted enough and I was able to get the strength to get control. I dropped Dean and told him that it was okay....that I had him. I took the rings out and I started the spell. The cage opened and I looked at my brother. I knew that it was time but unfortunately Michael wasn't going to let me go without a fight. I looked at Dean once more and I got ready to jump, but Michael came over so I dragged him down with me. It was all four of us then...in the cage...in hell." He didn’t dare look at her when he spoke those words, having no idea how she would take that. He wished that he could wait but he needed to get the rest out, so he figured he’d keep talking and once it was over she could talk then. “Then all of a sudden a couple weeks later I was back…but something was wrong. I wasn’t myself…but I was. I didn’t see Dean for over a year as he thought I was still in the cage and that’s what I wanted him to think. We find out alter that I was brought back without a soul. I didn’t care about anything or anyone. Only reason we found out was because of Jessica, who had been brought back as an angel. She gave up her grace for me to get my soul back, but something happened and while I had it, it was not working right. So one of Buffy’s friends…Willow? She did some sort of spell and then I woke up a couple of days ago…well…about a week ago I guess…and I was me again. At least as me as I can be after the crazy crap that’s gone on.” He told her before taking a deep breath. “And now, here we are.” Word Count:: 3,222 with quotes, 2858 without quotes Tag:: Sarah Blake <3 Outfit:: Click here for Sam’s OutfitNote:: Okay, do NOT make yours anywhere near this long or else I will cry. ------------------ ------------------ "I understand, I'm ready for more then," she said with a smile catching his vulnerable smile which actually made her feel a lot better knowing that he was able to show it to her. She still couldn't believe that Sam was basically Lucifer's vessel still all he had to do was just say yes. She didn't understand why Lucifer and Michael couldn't just fight with each other, speaking of him though she wanted to know where he was. She didn't understand how an Angel could be a jerk though it just made no sense, all angels were supposed to be kind to humans and believe in saving them but apparently Michael wasn't one of them or maybe all of them were just like that, she didn't know and she'd probably find out at some point but as of now she was clueless. She had hoped that the angel had gotten a lot better now unless he was the exact the same.
So, basically all the angels were just horrible, it wasn't just Michael. Why would they ask of such a thing? It was the boys' bodies so why was it that the angels were begging just for some fight? It was a fight that was stupid, couldn't they just get along? Then again one was good and one was evil so that was kind of hard. She wondered why it was Sam and Dean that were chosen though, out of everyone in the world the two brothers, was it because of their bond? or was it their strength? Sarah had no clue but she really did want to know. She wanted so many answers yet she couldn't question since she was listening to what he had to say plus there was no reason to ask the questions since they weren't really relevant to what he was saying that much.
Sarah's facial expression went into a worrisome one because of hearing about Jo. She had never talked to the girl of course but still hearing that the girl was going to die just made her sad. Why was it the good people that always had to die? Sarah saw the tear go down Sam's cheek and she used her thumb to wipe it and went closer to him to comfort him a little bit. She felt really bad for him and she wanted to be able to make him feel a little bit better, she knew that talking about all of this was probably had for him yet he was still doing it which she really appreciated. She wanted to speak but resisted knowing he was still speaking and wanted to get through it. Hearing all of it was just wow, his life had a lot of bad times, he was really strong and so was his brother.
She couldn't believe what she was hearing, Sam said yes to Lucifer or at least he was going to back then. All for a plan that was probably dangerous. She felt his his hand squeeze her's and she held on to his hand with her's since she was feeling a little bit down hearing everything that went on. Sam's friends dying and now he had said to Lucifer it was just a lot to take in. And yet again Sam was gone but at least he wasn't dead this time, he still was trapped by Lucifer taking over though...when did Lucifer get out exactly though? Sarah really hoped soon but wait Lucifer and Michael were going to fight when Lucifer had Sam and Michael had Adam? God, what was wrong with the angel and devil and why would Adam agree. She couldn't believe Lucifer wanted out of the fight though...so in a way it made Michael the bad guy.
Lucifer was still evil though, he had killed this Bobby and Castiel that must have killed Sam knowing he couldn't do anything but watch as his body killed them all. Sarah eyes grew wide when Sam said he was in hell. What? How? Why would he do this just to do what was right? He was in hell...he was there probably being tortured...god poor Sam. She looked at Sam with shocked watery eyes...all that pain he had felt and he had suffered Sarah's heart ached with sadness when she had heard it. "Wow," she said in shock. "I can't believe you've been through that much...Sam I'm so sorry," she told him with a frown. "I'm really happy Willow helped you though," she was happy that his soul was good now. "And look I'm still here, I didn't walk away or run off when you were telling the story," she said with a small smile. "It was a lot to take in and some of it was hard to hear, more than others but you're still the guy I fell for and the past is the past. I still want us," she said with a smile on her face. She'd have to get used to what he had been through and she knew she could. She had been tested and she passed, she was really happy that she was able to handle everything though. "I'm always going to be here and your past isn't chasing me away," she was ready to be in a relationship with him and if this was an obstacle then they had both conquered it and could literally pass any obstacle that came. ------------------ Credit: Graphics by Britt!
