- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - Okay, so his day had been one that he could write down as one of the weirdest he had ever dealt with, and that was saying something since his entire life seemed to be one weird day after another. He had woken up and realized that his desires were simply those of a dream, only to find out that the nightmare that he had remembered wasn’t a nightmare at all…but what and who he had lived as for the past few months. He had slept with a vampire, said horrible things about a woman that he had loved, and spoken to his brother as if he meant nothing.
It wasn’t easy for Sam to get up and go on with his day to day life after realizing all that he had said and done but after disappointing his brother for so long he made it his mission to stop. No matter how he acted, what he said, or what he did, pleasing his older brother had always been something that he had strived to do. Even while in college and when planning on applying to law school he knew that somewhere deep down Dean would be proud that he was doing something worthwhile.
Snapping on his watch he ran a hand through his hair, thinking briefly that he needed to have it cut before rolling his eyes at his reflection. His black button up shirt was paired with a pair of fairly new jeans along with one of his numerous watches and a pair of boots that were pretty much his staples. He had gotten a call earlier on his dad's old cell phone from a former contact of John's. He worked at the Richmond Community Center and there was something haunting the ice rink.
Sam usually didn’t dread things like this however he had never been a good ice skater so this job was not going to be a breeze for him. Hopefully he’d be able to figure out exactly what was haunting the place before he had to make an ass out of himself and put on a pair of skates. He had told Dean that he wanted to go for some fresh air, not telling him about the phone call. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to spend time with his brother because he did, but he refused to be mocked for the next ten years because of his lack of finesse on the ice. Dean had enough ammunition on him without adding to it.
Sliding into his rental car he grinned at the leg room. He liked the Impala but there were times when he got a bit too cramped in it, then again being as tall as he was this wasn’t an uncommon thing. He had rented a Dodge Charger and really liked the feel of it. He had been debating fixing one up for awhile now but knew Dean would freak out about it. It may be time to have another car though for situations like these when he really didn’t feel like renting or walking.
The drive to the community center didn’t take him long since luckily it was late though as soon as he pulled in he noted a shadow running towards the back of the building. He followed it quickly but silently and groaned when he realized what it was. Vampires. He really hated vampires.

------------------ ------------------ Sarah had nothing to do today but she did train a little bit not with Satsu but by herself. She was a big girl now and she could do the training herself and she actually did work better when she was alone. She could concentrate on the punching bag or practice some swing kicks. After a few hours of throwing knives and practicing her aim with the bow and arrow she decided that it was time to patrol. Sure, there were various slayers in this house and most of them patrolled but there still were a lot of demons and vampires out there which made no sense considering they probably knew about the slayers but apparently they wanted a fight instead of hiding, she was fine with that she liked a good fight.
Before she left she checked her hair wondering if she should put her hair in a ponytail or not. She decided to let it it fall even if it was long she could handle whatever was out there. Sarah went out the door and started off the cemetery since the cemetery did seem to be the hot spot and she jogged there. She was glad that she was able to patrol by herself sure she had done it many times before when Satsu and her parted ways since Satsu had to meet Buffy here for some reason, she really didn't say much about it. Sarah was good at adapting to new places and meeting new people but it was so different since the new people she was meeting were a part of the supernatural, never in her days did she think she'd be having this life.
Once she got at the cemetery she just walked and thought about her previous life when she was just ordinary and when she had first seen the supernatural. Now she could handle vampires and demons but ghosts? They were pretty creepy sure she'd get rid of them but she hated facing them especially the ghost child back then. Sarah spotted three vampires and rolled her eyes at the sight of them. "Strength in numbers I guess," she said with a sigh and ran and staked one before the two could turn around. Maybe they were hanging out in numbers since they knew that there were a lot of girls in this town who were extremely powerful. The first vampire was easy since they seemed to be idiots but the other two not so much she got hit a few times and she hit back and when the vampires thought they didn't have a chance they started to run.
Sarah started to run after them and followed them to the Richmond Community Centre and she knew that she wouldn't be able to get them from behind since they just kept running so maybe if she went around and showed up in front of them she'd be able to fight them and hopefully they wouldn't run. Sarah went around and the vampires seemed shocked and she grinned because she did good! "Now, I don't think any of us want to run anymore," both vampires went at her and she blocked the one hit and did a swing kick since she had practiced it earlier today. One of the vampires were sneaky enough to go behind her and grab her. Sarah struggled as the other one came closer to try and bite her but she jumped and kicked the one in the stomach and head-butted the one holding her. Sarah got her stake out and staked the one behind her without turning around since it was quicker. "Two down one more to go," the vampire looked at her with hunger yet fear but which one of the vampire's flaws would take over? ------------------ Credit: Graphics by Britt! - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - Sam groaned when he realized that the vampire had recovered and he had lost his stake. The vampire in front of him held it up with a toothy grin. Looking for this? This was definitely not his night…that was for certain. Ever since he had gotten his soul returned to him thanks to the inner workings of his long lost love Jessica he seemed to have a harder time hunting, which was something that his brother constantly liked to make fun of him about. It wasn’t that his strength had receded or that he had suddenly lost his ability to think and act like a hunter…no it was something different.
He had his memories of his time without a soul and they haunted him. He had done things, killed things without mercy, and said things that he wished he could forget. With that being said he was having a harder time dealing with killing things that he didn’t understand. Vampires had been humans once and even though they weren’t anymore, it still hit him at times that he was essentially killing a former human being…and it gutted him. Dean was happy about his of course because it meant that he had his conscience back…but he sometimes wished he could get over it.
He was glad that he had his soul back of course. The things that he had done, the way that he had acted and the things that had come from his mouth to those that he cared about were atrocious and he wouldn’t wish his soulless self on anyone…but it still hit him that there were times that he wished he could simply shut off the part of him that felt like he did and just do the job that his life had dealt him.
The vampire came at him and while Sam was fast and bigger…the vampire was faster. He groaned when he was thrown into a tree. He stood up quickly and went back at it, this time seeing something coming towards him. Great, more vampires. However before he could even let out another muttered curse or two he saw a brunette following the vampires. Apparently this woman knew what the hell she was doing too since she seemed to have moves that he hadn’t seen before, and that was rare, especially for a girl. He tried to think if he remembered Buffy saying anything about other slayers but couldn’t remember, his memories of that meeting still a little fuzzy, though that could be because of the fact that he had been knocked out most of that time.
Watching the girl dispose of two vampires he quickly disposed of his last one, standing up and waiting for the girl to turn around. When she did his eyes went wide, not believing who was standing in front of him. “Sarah?” He asked in disbelief, wondering briefly if he was still dreaming.

------------------ ------------------ Sarah embraced her new life extremely well and maybe it was because she was okay with being in the supernatural world but a part of her didn't want this life at all...she didn't like how this was what her life would be like until the day she died. Sure, she'd be able to grow old maybe get married someday...but then she'd be putting whoever she dated in danger so a normal relationship was probably out of the order and it wasn't like she could date anyway considering she still wasn't over Sam and she wished that she was but for some reason he was still fresh in her brain his voice, smile, eyes, everything it was hard. But where was he now? She had no clue and come on it had been such a long time he had probably found someone...so maybe Sarah was stuck being in the single life.
It was the last vampire that Sarah had to deal with and he didn't cower it looked like his hunger took over which she was glad about because she really didn't want to chase him considering she had ran with boots on which weren't too comfortable in a situation like this but it could do damage at least. The vampire took a swing at her and she blocked his right hand with her own and punched him with her left hand and then kicked him to push him back a little. He sneered at her and she couldn't help but smile because of the fact that she was the one in power not him. Sarah got her stake ready to finish the job and when he charged her once again she stuck the stake in his heart. She then wiped the dust off of her, god she hated it so much but at least it wasn't a lot of it.
Patrol seemed to be successful so maybe it was time for her to go home. Sarah turned around to walk away and once she did there was someone there a guy she knew and his voice...but how? "Hi, Sam," she said with a small smile. She wasn't sure what to say right now. She knew that he was a hunter and all that but she never imagined him being in Richmond especially with her here. She still couldn't believe her eyes right now it was him the boy she had strong feelings for before and it seemed as if the feelings never left...what was she supposed to do right now? "What are you doing here? Do you have a case in Richmond?" She knew that he didn't stay at a place for a long time so she shouldn't be happy that he was here right now but she just couldn't help it...it was him and she didn't want him going anywhere but that was her selfish part she knew he was out and about helping everyone he could. "So...should we hug or? I'm not really sure what to do or say right now," she said with a small nervous laugh.
She wasn't entirely sure what to do in this situation it was Sam Winchester what was she supposed to think right now? She had wished to see him again and she had rehearsed what she was going to say if she did see him again but she just kind of froze at the sight of him. She just wanted to skip to the part where they were kissing but that probably wouldn't be happening. She just looked in his eyes wondering what he was thinking right now. ------------------ Credit: Graphics by Britt! - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - He watched as the brunette turned around, his eyes taking in her frame. He couldn’t see much since she was wearing a cream colored coat but from what he could tell she had only gotten more beautiful. Her long legs were accentuated by tight black jeans and boots that would make a grown man cry if he could watch her simply walk in them. Sam was not the type of man who focused completely on women’s looks, that was definitely his brother’s type not his, but that didn’t mean that he didn’t appreciate a beautiful woman when he saw one…and Sarah was definitely a beautiful woman.
As his eyes ran over her face, trying to make sure that she was alright, his mind went back to his dream that he had only a few short days ago. Walking back into the main room his eyes ran over the room yet one thing…well…one person…caught his attention. Stopping in his tracks he saw the small brunette curled up in a chair. His eyes widened as he took in the face that was currently sleeping not ten feet away from him. Sarah Blake. Walking over he crouched down on his knees, running his hand over her cheek to brush a stray lock of hair from in front of her eyes. Shaking his head he wasn’t sure what to make of this but he did know that he wasn’t going to let her continue to sleep curled up in a ball on the chair. Standing up he quickly set his water on the table before lifting the small woman in his arms as carefully as possible and moving her to his bed. He’d stay up the rest of the night before he’d let her sleep in a chair.
He wanted nothing more in that moment than to do what he had in his dream, yet his feet were planted firmly on the ground. He had never forgotten about the brunette standing in front of him and he had wrestled with the idea of going back to see her more than once. There were only two reasons that he had stayed away, the first being that he didn’t want her to be dragged into his world anymore than she already was, and the second being that he knew the longer he spent with her the harder it would be to walk away. It had been hard enough after only having known her for a few days, he couldn’t imagine what he would have done had he spent any longer with her.
He heard her trying to start up a conversation and he laughed a bit awkwardly. "Uh, something like that." He told her, before motioning back to her. "What about you? When did you leave the art business to hunt down vampires?" He asked her curiously, praying that she hadn't been doing this by herself since he left. He would never forgive himself if he had ruined her life like so many others.
Hearing her next words he let what he wanted to do so badly take over, instead of allowing his normal control to lead. He walked over, his long legs crossing the distance in very few seconds before he was standing in front of her. Opening his arms he pulled her into his embrace, resting his head on top of hers. "We definitely hug." He told her with a chuckle, feeling as if he was finally home for the first time.

------------------ ------------------ What was Sarah supposed to do right now? The man was standing right in front of her the man she could have loved...to take her away from the small town the man she thought she'd never see again. She had told him to come visit her but he never did...everyday she would hope he would but nothing and soon after she just gave up and she had the right to considering she thought he had probably moved on or maybe she was just a fling to him, she just didn't know. She had tried dating other guys but the feeling was still there...like some type of virus that just wouldn't go away and she hated it. She had managed to repress the feelings and forget about it but seeing him right now it seemed as she just wanted to burst and kiss him and it seemed as if he got over the time they didn't see each other, was that possible?
She had always imagined this happening although she didn't think she'd be killing vampires and he'd be there but she did imagine them running into each other and embracing each other and now both of them were just still. It wasn't how she pictured it but she was extremely happy to see him and could anyone blame her? She had felt an instant connection with him the first time they met and even when they went on the date the more she got to know him the more her feelings grew...so what would happen now? If he was seeing someone how would she even be able to deal with it could she be his friend? She didn't really think so but she couldn't assume just yet. God, why weren't they hugging yet she just needed to be close to him he felt so far when he was right in front of her.
He wondered what the case was but she wouldn't persist just yet. "About a year ago....it's been a while since I've been back to my hometown," she said with a slight frown. She missed it there but she knew that this was the right thing to do. "I'm not sure if you know the term but I guess I'm a...slayer? I was supposed to be called but then it skipped me until this girl named Buffy and my friend Willow did something with a weapon which activated me and other girls if that makes sense to you," she said a little embarrassingly. It was weird talking about it still especially to Sam since she was just normal when he last saw her. "It's a big change from being normal one day and waking up with...strength and speed," she wondered if he was okay with her being a slayer though maybe he thought she was weird now.
He walked towards her and they hugged she held tightly not wanting to let go. She missed him so much and being in his embrace just felt good no not good amazing. She was a slayer and had power and all that but for once she had finally felt safe and secure just by being this close to him. She had her face in his chest and could smell him, she missed his smell. God, this just felt so good. She didn't want it to end and she just wanted to be by his side right now. Once the hug was let go she looked at him with a smile feeling extremely happy. "I still can't believe you're in Richmond though it feels like some kind of dream," she said with a small smile. She didn't want to become unhappy but she had to ask, "Do you know how long you'll be here?" She regretted asking that because now she would know but then at least she would be able to spend the whole time with him if he was leaving soon...hopefully it wasn't the next day. ------------------ Credit: Graphics by Britt! - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - He was surprised to hear that it had been over a year since Sarah had been home. He remembered when he first met her and how big of a daddy's girl she had seemed, even though it wasn't in the way that one would think. She hadn't acted rude or snotty (except with trying to trip him up on the art question, but he understood) but it was clear in the way that her father watched her every move that he was incredibly protective over her, just as it was obvious that Sarah idolized her father in the way that she carried herself. After learning about her mother's death it became clear on why, but it still surprised him to hear that they were apart, especially for over a year.
His eyes widened when he heard that Sarah had been called as a slayer. "Yeah, I know Buffy actually, Willow too, well, I've met them at least. Wasn't exactly in the right frame of mind when I met them but you know, we've met. I learned about the slayer from them and then did a bit of research later on to fill in the blanks. They told me about Willow activating the slayers back in California...so you were activated?" He asked, for some reason feeling extremely guilty. Realistically he knew that she was destined to be the slayer regardless of knowing him or not, but he still felt as if coming into her life, even for the brief amount of time that he had, had changed her in a way that she had no choice in the matter.
Feeling her in his embrace made him feel as if he could rule the world as strange as that sounded. He knew that she was safe and for some reason it released a burden off of his shoulders that he hadn't even realized he carried. He hadn't realized until that moment how much he had missed her and not for the first time noticed how perfectly she fit in his strong embrace. He could feel the strength coursing through her body yet to him she felt fragile, as if anyone could come and take her away from him. Just the thought of losing her again made his arms tighten around her though he barely noticed it as she closed his eyes, relishing in the fact that he was with her once more.
Finally releasing her though he didn't move too far away from her, wanting to make sure that he could protect her should it be necessary (though realistically he knew that she could take care of herself). Hearing her question he smiled. "According to Dean we aren't leaving any time soon. His former girlfriend Lisa is here with her son who Dean is really close with, so we're here for the foreseeable future." he told her with a soft grin. Reaching out he pushed a piece of hair that had fallen in her face behind her ear, his hand not falling away from her face though, instead stroking her cheek for a moment before finally falling to his side.
"What about you?" He asked, already making plans in his head. He didn't know what was going on with him...he was the planner while Dean was the impulsive one...so what was it about this girl that made him lose his mind?

------------------ ------------------ Sarah really did need to talk to her father but she was just so afraid to. She had never kept a secret from him until she had found out about the supernatural world and now she was keeping the secret of herself being a slayer. She missed him a lot and she knew he had missed her and the thing was she had to lie to him where she was going saying she was going to Europe to take some time to think...a complete lie of course but if that was the only way to make sure he was safe and away from it all then that was the right thing to do. She now understood why Sam had to leave to protect her but she still stood by what she said because anyone could do in a second by a bus a person or whatever was out there. She couldn't fret on it any longer it would just upset her.
"Yeah, I was," she wondered if he was okay with that and if he wasn't then she couldn't do anything about considering it was her duty now. "I've met Willow...but not Buffy. A girl named Satsu had come to get me so I didn't really know I was one until she had told me and I handled it pretty well actually," she said with a smile. "All thanks to you if you hadn't come I might have been dead by that ghost picture if my dad decided to just keep it," she said with a slight frown. She wouldn't have met him and wouldn't have kissed him god what would her life been like without Sam and would she have been alive if he hadn't come into town? She didn't know why she was thinking of that stuff because in reality everything happens for a reason and meeting Sam must have meant something and hopefully that something was to be with him in the end.
The two had fit like a puzzle piece and it felt so right to be in his arms, his warm embrace made her feel warm. She felt as if nothing could break the two except themselves and although she didn't want the hug to end she knew that the two had a lot to catch up on and talk about. It had been so long since the two had seen each other and being in his arms made her realize that her feelings had never changed for him and it was like he had just left a day ago, the memory was still fresh in her brain. His lips against hers that connection it was all coming back into this embrace. That connection was still there and even though the two were apart for a long time it seemed as if the connection had never been broken.
She felt his his hand move her strand of hair and she smiled at his hand stroked her cheek she put her hand on his before removing her hand quickly not sure if that was alright. She really did hope he was single. "That's great! I'm glad that you'll be in Richmond for a while," she said with a small smile. This excited her a lot actually considering she actually would have the time to talk to him more and didn't have to worry about time since he was staying at least for a long time whether it be a month or a year she still had the time but would the two be able to have something? She sure hoped so. She wanted to reach out for his hand just to hold it and feel his warmth but she resisted.
"Call it a coincidence but I'm actually staying here for awhile. Everyone's settled here so I'm sticking around," she said with a smile. The two staying in Richmond meant that a lot could be discussed and hopefully they could talk about what they could have in the near future unless they talked about it tonight. "I guess it's a good thing I patrolled tonight," she said with a grin. "This may be a little weird or random but...I'm really happy you're here Sam," she said hoping he felt the same. She was just so glad to see him and seeing him in front her just made her want to stay where they were and talk all night or at least hug all night. ------------------ Credit: Graphics by Britt! - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - For some reason hearing that Sarah had been called as a slayer angered and saddened him. Sam had always been one who knew exactly why he was feeling what he was feeling, since he tended to feel quite a bit. His brother had always given him shit because he felt so much and didn't try to hide his feelings as most men did...yet that was just him. He had never been one who was ashamed to cry, not that he did so as much as some but he never felt that it was unmanly to show emotion. It was one of the things that had attracted Jess. He had never been one to lie either, so not knowing what he was feeling or why confused him.
“Did they give you a choice?” He asked, his voice soft though low with emotion. “I thought I remember Buffy telling me that when they activated the slayers they were each given a choice…to learn how to protect themselves and everyone else or to lose the powers and memories…at least I think that’s what she said.” He stated, not wanting to get into the fact that he didn’t exactly trust his memories because of the whole not having a soul issue and then the whole soul being all messed up thing. There was no way he wanted to get into that right now, especially not with Sarah.
He was surprised that Sarah hadn't met Buffy but then again maybe she was too busy? "Buffy seems like a nice person. Protective of those that she cares about." He told her, again, not going into any details about the fact that they hadn't exactly gotten along when they first met. He still needed to apologize for the shit he said but he knew from Dean that she didn't harbor any hard feelings towards him. Apparently she had dealt with things that hadn't had souls before but he couldn't for the life of him remember what.
"You always did handle weird well." He told her with a chuckle. "I remember the look on Dean's face when you came in and started ranting about going with us to find where the bodies were buried. He had this look on his face like he couldn't believe that a woman such as you existed. I thought I was going to have to hose him off." He winked at her, not revealing that he had actually been worried about it for a minute or two.
Look I am not saying that I'm not scared because I am scared as hell but I'm not going to run and hide either. So are we going or what? Sam? Marry that girl.
He chuckled at the memory before shaking his head.
He let out another smile, this one larger than the last when she said that she was glad that he was staying in Richmond. "Yeah, it's nice to be around for more than a few days at a time. We've actually been here for a couple months now." He told her, not wanting to admit how glad he was that he hadn't taken off like he had originally planned. He wouldn't have wanted to miss seeing her again, no matter what happened now. Though it did seem fate was on his side, for once, when she said that she was staying in town for awhile as well.
He couldn't help it, he had originally planned on trying to keep his distance but he apparently had no more willpower when it came to this girl than he did back several years ago and he once again pulled her back into his arms. "You have no idea Sarah." He told her, laying a kiss on the crown of her head without even realizing he had done so.

------------------ ------------------ Sarah was pretty okay with being called a slayer even though she knew the dangers of it all and how she could die at any moment by the supernatural. Yeah, maybe she could have had a normal life if she refused Satsu but why would she? If she had the powers to help people then why refuse it. The art business did have its moments and she did have fun with her dad and it suited her but doing what she did as a slayer just felt so natural to her like she was meant to have this lifestyle whether Sam had showed up in town or not. Being a slayer made her feel like she could finally help and it came with a bonus, she got to see Sam again which she was really grateful for.
"Yes they did, and I accepted," she said proudly. She wasn't too sure how he would feel about that considering he didn't want the supernatural life for at all as she remembered it a few years ago and she had told him that life was unpredictable and she could get hit by a bus. "Satsu did give me that choice but refusing to help people? I couldn't do that and losing my memory of being a slayer...I just couldn't and if I did refuse I wouldn't be here tonight with....you," she said with a slight frown. She wouldn't ask for anything different being a slayer wasn't bad at all and she could protect herself also seeing Sam again was absolutely amazing. Knowing that if she hadn't taken the job as a slayer and not seeing Sam ever again just kind of broke her a little. Being there with him just made her feel so comfortable and she was extremely glad that they bumped into each other.
"I know someone like that," she told him with a grin. Even though the two had known each other for a short amount of time he had cared for her and wanted her out of harms way he was trying to protect her from the bad world. He even tried to sacrifice himself when the little ghost girl was about to kill her and he didn't have to do any of that but that was who he was. She liked how protective he was it was just really cute, she just loved everything about him and she didn't know why he was just truly amazing. Hearing about Buffy though from various people she knew that she'd be a good friend if the two ever became friends of course and she couldn't wait to meet her since all she heard was good things about Buffy.
Sarah laughed. "Yeah, I don't know how I handled it considering I can barely watch a horror movie," she said with a slight giggle. "But I knew that the painting my dad and I sold was our fault so I had to help you both seemed so surprise that I did though," she said with a smile. She wondered why the two were so surprised just because she wanted to help. She was curious to know though wouldn't anyone step up to the plate if they witnessed a ghost and wanted to stop it? Maybe that's just her because she knew that if her dad saw that he would never look back which was understandable since it was human nature to be scared and all but Sarah always believed that people should face their fears which is what she did and if she didn't then she wouldn't have gotten to talk to Sam the way the two did when they were at the cemetery.
"Really? Well, that's a new record," she said jokingly. She couldn't believe he had stayed for a couple months if anything she should have came to this town way earlier. She just couldn't believe it and she hoped that Sam would be staying much longer since the two had a lot to talk about since it had been such a long time. It would be major bad luck if he just up and left tomorrow and she couldn't help but feel like he would even though in reality he wouldn't but just didn't want to leave his side, the girl had missed him a lot and could anybody blame her? He seemed so perfect for her like it was too good to be true and then he had left but being here again made it all worth while and she had hoped that the two still had something.
The two had hugged again which made her smile widely she just couldn't help it she was crushing pretty hard. She wrapped her arms and felt his warmness, it just felt really good to be there. She had felt his lips on her forehead and all she wanted to do was kiss him more. She could feel her face becoming warm from it. "Sam...," she said with a small sigh. She just wanted him now. She didn't want to ruin the hug but she had to ask. "Are those feelings we had for each other still there? I mean do you still feel something?" She asked hoping that he indeed did feel the same and wasn't toying with her feelings or anything like that even though it wasn't him that would do that. She just needed to know because it was killing her not knowing. ------------------ Credit: Graphics by Britt! - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - Relief rushed over him as he heard that she had been given a choice, though he was curious to know why she had chosen to become a slayer. Not that he could really say anything since he had the choice numerous times to get out of the hunting life and yet something or another always tended to drag him back in. He had been out for years when his brother showed up at the apartment that he shared at Stanford with Jess and he could have easily turned him away. Their father was missing but this wasn’t something that didn’t happen on a continuous basis so why he went with him he didn’t know.
He couldn’t say that he regretted it because it led to the closeness that he now shared with his brother, however he couldn’t say that he didn’t regret it either since it led to not being there when Jess died. He knew from what Azazel (yellow eyes) had told him that it hadn’t been something that he could have stopped, yet that didn’t mean that he wouldn’t have fought like hell to try. Looking down at the woman standing in front of him a pang of guilt hit him though he didn’t know if he felt guilty because he was thinking about Jess around Sarah, or felt guilty for thinking about having a life with Sarah when Jess had given everything up for him.
Something hit him in that moment. As the guilt ate at his heart and soul he remembered words that Jess had said to him right before she had disappeared after giving her grace to give him his soul back. There’s someone else out there for you. Someone who will make sure that you are safe and loved. Maybe you’ll have a family one day…maybe you’ll grow old with her. Just know that I will be watching down on you. I’ll do whatever I can to protect you and her. I can see her Sam…she’s beautiful. His heart lurched as he stared at the brunette in front of him, somehow knowing, though he had no idea how, that the woman that Jess had been talking about was indeed Sarah Blake. It shouldn’t surprise him like it did since he knew that even back only a few months after Jessica had died he had felt something for Sarah, something that had taken him a long time to accept.
Hearing that she was glad to be a slayer due to being with him snapped his thoughts away from the wonder in front of him and caused him to fall back to planet earth metaphorically speaking. "I just don't like thinking of you alone out there fighting god knows what. It worries me." He told her, wanting nothing more than to keep her safe from all that would or could harm her. Unfortunately he knew better than anyone that you couldn't always keep those you loved safe, eventually something will disillusion them. So at least with Sarah he knew that she could protect herself, though if he had anything to say about it she wouldn't have to.
He wouldn’t…couldn’t lose anyone again.
He laughed at the memory before shaking his head. "It wasn't your fault Sarah. You didn't buy the painting knowingly to hurt people. Sure your dad sold the painting after you told him not too but he didn't know either. It's not as if you could have told him that the painting was haunted by some ghost who was killing people. He wouldn't have believed you anyway." He told her soothingly, knowing better than anyone what guilt could do to a person. He had never for a moment thought that it was Sarah's fault and he wouldn't continue to let her think that either. “As for us being surprised you would help, we were. A lot of people would have either screamed that we were nuts, whether they had seen things or not, or they’d beg us to take care of it and let them know when it was over. It took a lot of courage to help us. You impressed me as well as Dean, do you know how rare it is for us to agree on something?” He asked her with a boyish smile, making his face look years younger than he was.
He wasn't sure why he felt as if he could hold her forever, but he knew he had never felt like this before. Even with Jess there was a small period of awkwardness before they settled in together, yet with Sarah it was as if no time had past and as if they had known each other for years rather than technically days. Hearing her question he looked down, his eyes boring into hers. "Sarah, when we met back then, I wasn't in a good place. Losing people that you love isn't easy as you know, and to feel something like I felt for you then so soon, it wasn't something that I knew how to handle. Now, I've learned how to handle it and I realize that had I known then what I know now, I wouldn't have been able to walk away from you. So to answer your question, yes, I do feel something." He told her before his eyes turned questioning. "Do you?" He asked her softly, not wanting to sound vulnerable yet knowing that in this only he was.

------------------ ------------------ The memory was still fresh in her brain when Satsu had come and gave her the choice. It was probably one of the hardest decisions in her life but not the hardest thing she had faced. The hardest thing was probably losing her mom something that Sarah wasn't able to deal with for an extremely long time and then there was Sam which was hard to let go even though he was the one that left...when he left apart of her went with him, her heart. She hated the tough things in life but that was made her keep going and even though bad things happened she had to move past it whether she liked it or not and that was why she chose to go with Satsu because she didn't want to be the defenseless girl and look where it brought her now, to him the man she could have been with if he hadn't left...
She was still looking at him and didn't want to blink because she didn't want him to disappear anywhere. She tried to think for a moment because her feelings were all so jumbled did she love him? She honestly had no idea at the moment, she knew her feelings were strong but how strong were they? One thing was for sure and that was that she knew that she could have loved him if he had stayed longer in town but he didn't...so being where they were now what could it mean? They still needed to get to know each other if anything so she needed to put her feelings on a hold for now if she could do that. Everything was just so confusing when she was around him and it was one of those good feelings that she wouldn't be able to shake since it latched on to her.
Okay, this was just really hard to see him in front of her when all she wanted to do was kiss him and not knowing how he felt about her was absolutely killing her. She didn't even know what his life had been like after he left he could have met someone knew someone he loved and maybe was the girl for him...but what if Sam was the guy for Sarah...what was she supposed to do then? Thinking about it was just upsetting her and was reading way to much into it which she always did and had hoped that something would distract her from it. If he was with someone though she'd have to get over it somehow and she didn't know if she'd be able to but that was enough of thinking about it she didn't know so she shouldn't assume at all right...? She just looked into his eyes feeling like everything would be okay and if only he would tell her that because she definitely needed that reassurance.
She tilted her head a little. She was perfectly fine with fighting and she was extremely careful. She was happy to hear that he worried for her though. "I know that it's dangerous but you don't have to worry Sam, I'm a big girl I can handle myself I mean you saw me there with the two vampires," she told the brunette. "How about you patrol with me next time?" If he was so worried then he should watch her and maybe then he would be okay with her doing it. "I know you worry for me but imagine me back in my town worrying about you everyday...wondering if you're still alive," she said with a frown. She understood that he wanted to protect her and all and was all game for that because she liked how he was protective but he had to know that for the amount of time they hadn't seen each other all she did was worry.
She laughed at what he said. "Well, good thing I'm not everybody else," she said with a smile. "And I'm guessing that it's extremely rare," she said with another laugh. It felt so good to talk to Sam and it felt so natural. Sarah had felt comfortable around him and even though they hadn't seen each other in a few years it did just feel like they hadn't seen each other for a day. She remembered the first time they met and it felt normal to talk to him it was good being back to this and it was a good thing he hadn't left Richmond at all. She couldn't help but notice his smile...he was just so hot and cute and just everything.
The truth had finally come out and she would finally get the answer that she had been wondering all night. She listened to him and she couldn't help but smile at him at the end. "My feelings for you haven't changed since the day we met...so yeah, I feel something," she told him opening up to him a little bit. "I tried to get you out of my mind but I couldn't Sam and that day after that kiss it was hard watching you walk away knowing that all I wanted was you," she said with a small sigh. "All I still want is...you," She felt so open with him but she had to be he needed to know what she felt that day and how the feelings never stopped. Both of them admitted their feelings but what was next? Did this mean that the two could date or was this just opening up? Hopefully the questions in her mind would be answered soon even if Sam couldn't read minds. But one thing she knew was that he felt the same which actually made the happiest girl right now. ------------------ Credit: Graphics by Britt! - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - He nodded as she spoke, agreeing with her as much as he hated it. It was true though. He knew better than most how frightening it was to have to sit home while people fought for you. He had to deal with it more than once, though it used to be before he knew what was going on. He could still remember asking Dean about his father and why things always seemed to happen. Dean never wanted to admit to him what was really going on but finally after Sam had stolen their father’s journal and showed to Dean that he knew he let the truth out.
I know why you keep a gun under your pillow. No you don't. Stay out of my stuff. And I know why we lay salt down everywhere we go. No you don't. Shut up.
Sam could easily remember taking the journal out and tossing it onto the nightstand between his and Dean's beds.
Where’d you get that? That’s Dad’s! He’s gonna kick your ass for reading that. Are monsters real? What? You're crazy. Tell me. I swear, if you ever tell Dad I told you any of this, I will end you. Promise. Well, the first thing you have to know is we have the coolest dad in the world. He’s a superhero. He is? Yeah. Monsters are real. Dad fights them. He's fighting them right now. But dad said the monsters under my bed weren't real. That's cause he had already checked under there.
Pushing the memories down he focused back on the woman in front of him. "I think I'll take you up on patrolling with you." He told her. "Maybe you can show me a couple of things and I can teach you a couple exorcisms. I know from talking with Buffy that they don't teach their slayers magic because of certain rules and I agree with her reasoning. But a stake through the heart won't kill everything...so if you don't tell I'll teach you a couple of things if you do the same. How's that sound?" He asked her, knowing that there was a good chance that if Dean ever found out that he was offering to learn from a girl he'd never let him hear the end of it. There was a reason why the phrase ‘what he doesn’t know won’t hurt him’ tended to be an overused one in the Winchester world.
Hearing that she had worried made him feel even worse, especially since there were several times that she had every right to be worried. "There are a lot of things that I should probably tell you...but I'm not sure if you want to hear about them." He told her honestly. "They aren't pretty...nor are they for the faint hearted." He warned, trying to give her an out if she really didn't want to hear about them. He wouldn't blame her since most of it had to do with death, hell, angels, demons, and a soul-less him walking around doing god knows what with god knows who. But he wouldn't keep things from her if she wanted the truth.
Besides, he knew his brother and he knew that there was a good chance that eventually Dean would let something slip and he’d rather Sarah heard it from him now rather than in months from now on the defensive.
Sam was nothing if not practical.
"It definitely is rare to see people standing up for others if they don't have to." He replied with a nod of his head. "I have spent a lot of years hunting and there have been very few times that someone has offered to help us who wasn't a hunter or had an ulterior motive." He told her speaking with complete honesty. The last woman he could remember offering to help besides Sarah was Jo and Ellen, and he knew where that had led them.
A breathtaking smile graced his features as he heard that she still had feelings for him. He quickly pulled her back into his arms and placed another kiss on the crown of her head. "I don't intend on letting you go again." He told her softly. "And I don't care if this makes me a huge idiot but I see us working this time Sarah. We wouldn't have before because I wasn't ready...I was still dealing with things that I wasn't ready to handle. I am now. So if you are willing, I am up for trying to make this work. I want to be with you, I think I have since I walked away that day." He told her, his eyes boring into hers, searching for answers.

------------------ ------------------ Sarah knew that there was probably a long road ahead of her and Sam whether the two end up in a relationship or not which she hoped they would be soon because even seeing him now she knew she wouldn't be able to let go considering her feelings had been there for him for years. It was like the boy put some magic on her to never forget him. She had actually wondered if he ever forgot her, he was always on the road so he was bound to meet some girl and if he did then...that would just really suck unless the two weren't together anymore. Once again Sarah was reading too much into it and needed to stop now. It was just the way she was and until all her questions were asked she'd worry.
Sarah wasn't surprised when he agreed to patrol considering he was being protective already so maybe he just wanted to keep an eye out on her. "Sounds like a plan," she said with a smile. She was actually excited to patrol with him maybe it was because she would see more of him. "I'm able to keep our little secret," she told the boy. "You sure you could handle me?" She said with a flirty smile. Okay, she shouldn't have that smile on her face, she didn't even know where the two stood yet so she needed to hold off on that for now. She wondered what moves she could teach him though she thought he knew everything since he had been hunting for years, she definitely needed to know how to handle other things besides vampires and demons that just needed a stake or a stab. "Just set a date and I'm there."
She forgot how good it was to him. She wondered what her life would have been like if she wasn't a slayer...would she had ever seen Sam again or what she had been stuck in her town with someone she barely liked? None of these questions would be answered unless she got to see an alternate universe but she wasn't some witch so that wasn't happening. To be honest ever since she had met the boy she knew that somehow she was supposed to be with him but when he had left that hope was gone and she didn't believe that fate would bring the two together because of his hunting but she was wrong and she was glad that she was wrong, fate had brought the two of them here tonight. She hadn't believed in fate until tonight.
"Why wouldn't you be sure? Of course I want to hear it," She told him with a worried expression. What was Sam talking about? What had she missed over those years that he had to warn her about it? It couldn't have been that bad. "I can handle it you know you can tell me anything Sam...no matter how bad it is," she was ready to hear whatever he had to say and hopefully it wouldn't be too bad. She was holding her breath for it though because she was scared, it was one of those moment of truths and she didn't want to hear it but his problems were hers and she wanted to know what he had been through so even if it upset her she would have to move past it and tell him that she was okay with it.
"I guess that's human nature for you," she said with a shrug. "I get it but then I don't, it only takes one person to change the world so why can't they keep it safe when the opportunity presents itself?" The question was of course rhetorical but she truly did want to know why the world was just so screwed up. People always expect help from someone yet they never help in return...people always showed their true colours in a situation like that. Sarah was glad that she wasn't a selfish person like most of the people in the world.
God, she loved being in his arms, the amount of times the two had embraced each other tonight was just amazing and she couldn't get enough of it. When she heard those words from him she felt so safe, she felt protected and secure and she was truly happy at his words. "You know how long I've waited for you to say that?" She told him with a big smile on her face. "I've missed you so much Sam and I'm up for it, I want to be your girlfriend," she said with another smile. She couldn't stop smiling because of how happy she was. "I've wanted to be yours since the day we met," she told him honestly. "You're right I think we'll work this time." She was really happy that the two were in a relationship now, she still couldn't believe this was happening to her.
She remembered a quote 'People who are meant to be together always find a way to each other' and it just reminded of her and Sam. "So, this means no backing out or leaving town right?" She asked the boy. "I want to be there for you Sam and now that we're both ready...I hope you'll let me." ------------------ Credit: Graphics by Britt! - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - He smirked when she asked if he could handle her. He stood up straighter, quite literally towering over her at this point. "I think I can hold my own little one." He told her with a grin, having no idea where the flirty comments were coming from since it was usually Dean that tried to be that way yet with Sarah it just came naturally. He never was comfortable with acting like a flirt or really even being that open with a girl. Hell it took him almost two years to get comfortable enough with Jessica and even she didn’t know really anything about his family. Yet Sarah knew more than most and she was still here.
He smirked when she stated that he needed to set a date. "Hmmm...sounds like a proposition to me Ms. Blake." He told her before laughing. "I promised Dean I'd go to the bar with him tomorrow as he has something to tell me. God only knows what it is." He told her with a roll of his eyes. "However Sunday night I'm all yours." He stated before realizing exactly how that sounded. "That is if your free being a weekend and all." He stuttered out, sounding more like a fifteen year old asking the Prom Queen out than the sophisticated 25 year old that he really was.
He could see the curiosity in her eyes and for a moment he just stared, fighting internally with himself about telling her any of what had gone on in the past few years. He knew that while she would be understanding he couldn’t help feel that it would change things between them. He had missed her but he would be lying if he said that he hadn’t stopped thinking about her at every moment because he had to. So many things had gone on over the years that things had just gotten away from him, including his love life.
Unfortunately it wouldn’t seem that way though being that he had spent almost a year straight sleeping with a demon who really wanted nothing more than to get him and his brother killed and he hadn’t realized it. What made it worse was that he had actually truly cared for the demon, even at one time choosing her over his brother. To this day Dean still wouldn’t let him forget that little tidbit. Not that he blamed him but still.
Looking down at her he smiled. “Well then Ms. Blake, would you do me the honor of listening for a little bit and then that way when I ask you to be mine, which I fully intend to do…that way you have everything you need to make the right decision?” He asked before explaining, realizing he sounded like a huge chump at the moment. “I need you to know the things that have happened over the past several years. They’ve changed me and I can’t go back to the way I was. Not that my feelings have changed or my personality, but I have gone through things that have hardened me a bit and I need you to know that before I bring you into my life…because I couldn’t stand it if you got hurt because of my mistakes.” He told her, taking a deep breath.
“I can see it now if I don’t tell you. Dean will make some stupid joke thinking that I’ve told you and then I’ll be defensive and you’ll be upset and it’ just a whole lot better if I tell you everything up front that way you know everything. And I pray you are okay with it…or at least can forgive me…but I will be completely understand if you wanted to walk away after learning it all.” He informed her.
Reaching out his hand he waited for her to grab it, and once he did he gave it a gentle squeeze before leading her over to a picnic bench that was seated on the edge of the community center. In front of it was a pool that was closed for the winter yet the cover hadn’t been put on, or at least it had been taken off recently. The moonlight reflected on the water making the ambiance a bit more romantic than just a random bench in a park. “You ready to hear what’s gone on?” He asked her, not sure if he wanted her to say yes or no.
