- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She was not a pleasant person to be around today that was for sure. She had gotten a phone call from the hospital at 2:00 this morning telling her that someone had been attacked on the beach and she had been listed as next of kin. She had hurried out of bed and gone to the hospital to find out that it was one of the potential slayers that was not supposed to be patrolling by herself yet. Come to find out she hadn't been patrolling, she had been with a bunch of her friends (she was one of the few from around Mystic Falls and Richmond) and had been having a bonfire, only to be attacked.
The young girl, Samantha, was still not awake and when Buffy had gone back earlier there had been no sign of the vampire, just the police taking away two other bodies where they had been attacked. Not wanting to get caught the blonde slayer had left and waited until tonight to go and try and track down the group of vampires who had attacked the group of teenagers having a good time. She was a bit surprised to hear that the attack at been at the beach since she had not done much patrolling around there but she made a mental note to have someone patrol it from now on, possibly two people since someone could easily get hurt and end up in the ocean if they weren’t careful.
She had gotten home fairly early since she had taken a half day in order to sit with Samantha for awhile before heading home to throw on casual clothes to go out for a patrol. She didn't want to dress in all black as the beach was a fairly popular hangout so she slipped on a pair of skinny jeans, a pair of navy blue flats, a gray tank top and a navy blue sweater. Noting her cross and claddagh ring were in their designated spots she slid a stake up one sleeve and another in an inside pocket that she had Willow sew in magically so that she would never be without a weapon. She briefly thought about bringing an axe with her since it seemed as if one had been necessary quite a few times but then figured that it would cancel out the whole 'blending in' plan that she had going and decided to nix that plan entirely.
Instead of walking she actually drove today, noting not for the first time that she really needed to get a new car and stop driving the boarding house SUV. She made a mental note to either drag Angel, Spike or Dean with her car shopping soon since she truly had no idea what the hell she was looking for. Hell maybe even Xander would know better than she would...again...she had never been a car person.
Pulling into the beach parking lot she put her key in her pocket and started walking in the direction of where she could see a huge bonfire, hearing the sounds of people laughing and joking around. She knew for a fact that this was the way that vampires would take for an easy meal.

------------------------------ ------------------------------ It was another day at Richmond where Damon was on business, well sort of on business. Damon was getting frustrated now, he couldn't find anything on Klaus which just pissed him off. Every source he went to had no clue and he honestly didn't know what to do anymore. Part of Damon wanted to stay here and keep looking just to avoid Mystic Falls, so much had happened and he honestly didn't want to face anyone at the moment but he did want to see Sophia which he hadn't talked to in a while, it upset him so maybe after tonight he'd go back and find her. He knew that the two ended things on a good note after the ball so who knew what she was thinking, all Damon knew was that he needed to see her and kiss her because he was falling in love with her.
Damon had been wondering around town and heard about some party that would be on the beach and he decided that he would go there since he had nothing better to do, plus he could probably find out more things on Klaus, or attempt to. Damon decided to walk instead of use vamparic speed since it was close and he honestly wasn't in the mood at the moment, he was feeling slummish. Once he got there he looked around and saw teenagers and young adults having a good time, something he wasn't used to nowadays. He did have fun when he was trying to be evil but this whole good thing got boring and he was tired of caring but that was apparently him now.
Damon felt something, a strange power coming closer which made him scared but was he supposed to be scared? It was different from what he had felt before, Damon started walking closer to whatever this power was. He was in crowds of people so it wasn't like he would be able to do anything but he still wanted to figure out what he was feeling, it must have been someone big or a demon or whatever it was. Damon was getting closer and as he drew in he saw a girl...was she the strong power? Damon looked at her. "You? Blondie? Great," he rolled his eyes. He wasn't expecting this big powerful being to be a blond girl who seemed to be human, so obviously Damon assumed when he shouldn't have.
He knew what this was now, this must have been the slayer or something like that. He had heard of slayers and how there was only one every generation or something like that. Damon just looked at the slayer. "So slayer, gonna try and kill me since I'm the bad guy," he said with a smirk. He wasn't sure if he should be testing her right now but he honestly didn't care at the moment. "Are you even smart enough to be a slayer?" He asked toying with her a little bit. He was of course referring to her being a dumb blond even though he didn't know her at all, but it was always fun. He definitely found something fun to do tonight, he had found himself a slayer, which was something new. He hadn't ever met one before so he really didn't know how strong they could be but they were destined to kill vampires so maybe she was a threat to him, he had already had enough on his plate though.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -It didn’t take her long before she was only about fifty yards away from the group of teenagers. Even from the distance she was at she could smell the alcohol and other illegal means and she groaned, realizing how easily these kids would be picked off if a vampire was near. No wonder they came to the beach. Easy meal and easy to dispose of the bodies she had a feeling. She hadn’t read anything recently other than the obvious about missing people or dead bodies but that didn’t mean that it wasn’t being covered up by the police or other authority figures. From what she had heard through the grapevine people in authority down in Mystic Falls knew about vampires and such and tended to cover things up with animal attacks.
This irked her more than ignorance for some reason. Why not arm the community with ways to protect themselves instead of hiding it under the rug? She had always had an issue with lies, especially ones that put people in danger and the covering up of how people died when others could be in danger was a huge lie in her completely biased opinion. She knew it was hypocritical since she had lied to people after saving them but she also wasn’t an authority figure, she was simply trying to keep herself and everyone else safe.
It was several moments of staring off into the water, trying to keep an ear out on the kids while also making sure that she kept her senses open to a vampire when one came to seemingly play. Turning around she found a handsome man with ice blue eyes. “So, either word’s gotten around that the slayer is in town or you’re not as dumb as some of your other counter parts.” She stated with a smirk, not at all phased by the man in front of her. She could feel his strength but she could also tell that he was older than a fledgling and yet younger than several of the other vampires that she had bested. From the amount of power she could feel coming off of him it seemed as if Angel and Spike were both older than him, which gave her the confidence she needed since she had beaten both of them in numerous fights before with relative ease…well…sort of. Either way she knew if the situation called for it she would win.
This could also be the fact that Spike and Angel both were fighters and the man in front of her did not look as such. Not that he didn’t look dangerous because he could easily put off the bad guy vibe but she knew Angel and Spike had gotten around during their times of being soulless which meant that they had learned how to fight very well.
“Hmm…well since I’m the oldest living slayer and I’ve died twice and yet keep coming back for more…I think I can say that I’m definitely smart enough to be the slayer. However I usually like to play for a bit before I stake someone. So come on handsome, you tell me your name I’ll tell you mine.” She told him playfully, not having a good banter in months with the exception of her friends and she really felt the need to let loose. She also felt as if something in the back of her mind was telling her not to stake this one right yet so she figured she’d get some information from him before killing him.
It could never hurt to be informed.

------------------------------ ------------------------------ Damon knew that this little confrontation could go two ways, there could be a fight or just talking and he was hoping for a fight because he wanted to know the strength of a slayer. He heard that their blood was quite amazing as well, but he didn't think he would drink any although he was tempted but still he felt as if there was no need for it, what he really wanted to do was beat her in a fight just so he could say he did. He was curious to know how far he could push the girl and wondered if he would in fact even touch a nerve at some point in the conversation. He guessed that this conversation wouldn't go as well, but hopefully he would get information before anything happened between the two. He wondered if he would be able to kill her, if he was strong enough even though Damon wouldn't admit it she seemed stronger than him but he still wanted to test it.
"Wrong," he told the blonde girl. "Yet right," he said with a smirk. He was actually kind of liking her right now, she didn't seem so, what was the word Damon looking for? So put together like every other good guy or girl was. Although he could have been assuming and it was bad to assume right? He didn't know anything about this girl yet so he should put her in his good books just yet. "I'm not like any other vampire maybe you'll learn that once you get to know me blondie," looks like Damon had given her a nickname even though it had probably been used before, but it was his way of saying it was better anyway. "I've always wanted to meet the slayer. Here a thought it was a story to tell the kids." He knew better than that but still somewhere in him he thought it was a myth.
"Oh?" Damon was definitely intrigued now, the girl had died twice. "Now that's dedication." Damon was definitely having some fun with this slayer. "Okay, I'll play," he said smirking. The girl had spunk, he'd give her that, maybe that would be her nickname now spunk girl. "Damon Salvatore. And you are?" He said wondering who this blonde could be. She was so small and seemed so weak but within her there was so much power that Damon noticed, it was weird because this power seemed so much. He wondered how she would do against Klaus. "Something tells me you're a survivor spunk," he started to shift his body a little bit. "Died twice, living this long. Anymore mind blowing surprises Wonder Woman?" He said a little sarcastically. It felt good to just do this, he hadn't had the time to just be himself and talk like this besides when he was fighting with Kipp until of course the bitch Lexi broke it up.
It felt weird to just be on the beach in the night, it was something Damon hadn't done for a long time and that was probably because he had no reason to until tonight. The beach was beautiful but he wasn't there for that, he was there for information and maybe blondie here had information on anything that was useful to him but probably not. Did she even know anything about Mystic Falls? He wondered how long she had been living here because the times he had visited this town he didn't feel any power but then again he was never close enough to feel it. But still, it seemed weird for her to be in this town out of all the towns that had supernatural activity.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -"I wouldn't count your chickens quite yet." She told him with a playful grin. She was enjoying herself a bit too much to be honest. "I've met a lot of vampires and am actually good friends with three of them so telling me that your unlike any vampire I've ever met will take dedication on your part there old blue eyes." She told him with her hands on her hips. She hadn't drawn her stake yet, not feeling the need to at the precise moment. She was confident in her abilities and that was all that mattered for the moment.
"Yeah, seems meeting the slayer is a big hit with all the vampires. Then again not many of them have had the opportunity to tell the tale since they usually meet the wrong end...well right end in my opinion...of Mr. Pointy." She told, again her eyes alight with laughter. She was still standing at attention, tensed for a fight, yet she felt no anger or the killing urge coming from the man standing in front of her, at least at the moment. She knew that this could change rapidly, it had many times before, including one time when a vampire had psychoanalyzed her for hours before actually becoming dust.
As soon as she heard the name Damon she relaxed her stance. “Ahhh, one of the infamous Salvatore brothers.” She stated, not showing that she hadn’t actually known the brother’s last names, only that they were brothers. “I’ve heard a lot about you and your brother for that matter.” She stated with a smirk, not telling him right off the bat who had told her. Oh, they were going to have some fun. He reminded her of Spike from before he got his chip or his soul. The two would banter back and forth before coming to blows and she had honestly missed it.
“Buffy, Buffy Summers.” She stated, motioning to herself. “As for being a survivor, I guess you could say that. Hmm…want my resume?” She asked with a tilt of her blonde eyebrow. “Let’s see, slayer since I was fifteen, I’m now twenty three. Not many slayers last a year, let alone eight so that should speak for itself. However in case you’re a little slow on the uptake, which is understandable…” She told him with a wink, letting him know that she was teasing. “Defeated Lothos, defeated the Master, defeated Angelus, defeated a human slash cyborg thing that’s better left unexplained, and defeated the First Evil. These are just a few of the monsters I’ve battled over the years. What about you Damon, what have you got to say for your however many years you’ve been alive?” She asked him before pausing and looking at him curiously. “When were you sired?”
She had always been interested in how old a vampire was though realistically she knew that most of the time it didn’t matter. Most of the vampires that she had met over the years were dust floating in the wind long before now but that didn’t mean that she didn’t find them fascinating. Fascinating in a very morbid sense of course but still. To know one’s opponent one must study them and she had for years. She could probably analyze a vampire’s psychology better than a human’s at this rate. He needs to kill to live. That tells you everything you need to know. Instinct. Understand his, but trust yours. Those words came at her so suddenly that she felt light headed for a brief moment before coming back to the current time.
“So come on, I want to know all about you Mr. Salvatore. I’m a very curious person by nature. Blame it on my astrological sign.” She stated with a grin.

------------------------------ ------------------------------ "Looks like we have a rebel," Damon said grinning. "Some people might start to think you're one of us." To be honest he couldn't believe that a vampire slayer would be friends with three vampires, now that was weird but very intriguing. "Any reason why you're their friends? Or are you really that twisted," he said jokingly. He couldn't believe he was actually joking with her right now but maybe it was because he loved Elena who was human and sort of had human friends, so he could understand on some level. "Oh blondie, you'll find I'm quite unpredictable maybe even a little impulsive," he said smirking. He had always done the hard stuff that no one else could do and he always had different plans, plus he was spontaneous. "Trust me when I say I'm not like any of them."
"You...named...your stake?" Damon held his chuckle in. He honestly couldn't believe that the girl had named her stake, now she was different. He wondered how this night would turn out, Damon could potentially or the girl either way. This was just tense right now and Damon was loving every single second of it, when was the last time he had ever done this? He couldn't help but enjoy himself a lot. He wondered if the two fought if people would notice, it seemed as if they were all too drunk or high to notice anything which caused for an easy target but Damon wasn't there for that obviously, he was here to talk to blondie who was exceptionally fun to talk to at the moment. It was weird not being annoyed instantly by someone.
Damon was kind of surprised to know that she knew of him, he didn't know if he should be creeped out or flattered. "Looks like I have a fan club," he said grinning. He really wanted to know how she knew him, it couldn't be by coincidence or anything so she heard of him from somewhere. "Is this the guessing game now? I like this," he crossed his arms enjoying himself a little bit more. "Unless there's a book about me, how do you know me?" He'd play the game, this was the way to get information later on, play nice and get the info which seemed simple enough. He knew that she would probably want information to which was okay since he wouldn't give her all she needed but just enough.
Buffy, he would remember that name, wouldn't be hard considering it was a name he had never heard of. He had to approve her teasing by giving her a grin, he could appreciate someone who could actually be sarcastic and not boring. "Don't know any of those guys lemme guess they're all strong bad guys?" He could care less for them since he had never met them plus had bigger things on his mind. "My resume isn't a merrit badge kind of resume like yours," he said a little seriously. "I've killed a few vampires although one of them was my brother's best friend, faced an original, killed a werewolf, been bitten by a werewolf," he wouldn't go too deep with the werewolf topic if she didn't know about the werewolf bite. "The rest is for you to find out," he said with a smirk. "In case you're wondering his best friend is back alive, a good guy point for me right?" He still felt kind of guilty for killing Lexi and no one really knew about it unless Buffy could see right through him.
"1864, by my hot yet psychotic ex bitch of a girlfriend," telling her the truth. God, Katherine was something else, something that he didn't want to get into. "Okay, shoot," he said with a playful grin. "I answer then ask a question then you answer and ask a question, fair enough?" A compromise right there, both of them would get the information they wanted or at least learn about each other's pasts a little bit which was always fun and Damon honestly wanted to know what had happened to her considering a slayer wasn't supposed to last that long as she said, the girl was extraordinary it seemed.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Bowing exaggeratingly she grinned. “Well if it makes me sound any better I didn’t try to be a rebel. I just sort of ended up like that after dealing with some of the stuff I have. Besides, who needs rules anyway?” She asked with a laugh before shaking her head. “Okay, even I can’t go that far. I do follow rules, they just tend to be my own most of the time.” And this was the honest truth. Sure she followed Giles when he told her to go slay something but did she do it in the exact way he told her too? Most of the time no. Now if there was one way to kill something she’d clearly kill it that way but she had improvised a lot as well.
Thinking of her past provisions she thought about Hansel and Grettle and how she had quite literally bent a huge stake and skewered it while she was attached to it. Yes, she was quite inventive when she had to be but that attention to detail and the things around her had gotten her out of several situations over the years and had kept her alive for the most part.
“You want the truth?” She asked him, now that she knew who he was she felt much more open to the situation. “The love of my life is actually a vampire.” She stated bluntly. “Along with an ex boyfriend and another friend. Like I said, I’m not your typical slayer. Also got a friend whose a demon, best friend who is a witch, and a couple other assorted members in there including a werewolf and a former vengeance demon.” She stated, ignoring the fact that Anya was deceased and she hadn’t seen Oz in years. He didn’t need to know that and no matter where they were they were still her friends.
Giggling she shook her head. “No actually a friend of mine did and it just sort of stuck. Though it definitely sounds like something I would do so I guess that I could take credit but for the record it wasn’t me. I will admit though that it’s not out of the realm of possibilities of some boneheaded thing I would do. I’ve definitely done some whoppers.” She stated with a laugh. “As for a fan club, wouldn’t say that. And as far as I know you’re not in any of the books, at least not that I can remember though I’ll have to check to make sure. No actually you and I have a friend in common. Well, a friend and then someone who doesn’t seem like she’s that big of fan.” She told him with a grin.
“Do the names Elena and Bonnie ring a bell?” She asked before continuing. “I met Bonnie at a magic shop that I was at with a friend and vampires attacked. We all were able to take them out which led to an interesting conversation which led to myself, my two best friends, Elena and Bonnie meeting up for coffee. We talked and she gave me the names of those that didn’t hurt humans in order to make sure I didn’t hurt those that she cared about. Your name just happened to be on that list.” She told him honestly, figuring that there was no reason to lie about it.
It didn’t surprise her that he hadn’t hurt of some of the large baddies that she had fought over the year. He didn’t seem like one who belonged to a family of vampires so to speak like the Order of Aurelius or anything of the sort. He seemed to almost cling to his former human life while still enjoying being a vampire. “It doesn’t surprise me that you feel guilty about killing your brother’s best friend.” She stated, having seen the guilt in his eyes. “I’ve had to do some things I’m not proud of, including sending the love of my life to hell, so I understand guilt and that’s one of the reasons that I can see it written all over your face.”
“I think I can handle a little question and answer session. My first question, what made you decide to stop killing humans? I’m not stupid, I’m sure you’ve done it…so what stopped?”

------------------------------ ------------------------------ "So, my assumptions were half right," he said with a smirk The girl followed rules to some certain extent. "I guess I'll join the club since I follow the rules now." Damon was like Buffy in that way, he did follow the rules but he did find loop holes with those rules which was perfectly fine, he didn't care much, he was still being the good guy, he just liked doing things his way. "My oh my, the good slayer making her own rules, any rules I should be aware about?" He asked curiously, wondering what she would say. There must have been rules that slayers had to abide to and Damon wondered what they besides not killing a human, that was probably the most obvious one.
Damon gave her a nod. He wasn't used to the truth, well he sort of was but people mostly lied in Mystic Falls so this was a surprise since him and Buffy had just met. "A love story? You couldn't have had a happy ending," Damon said a little shocked. When could someone be happy when they were involved in the supernatural, it just wasn't possible. He didn't believe in happy endings. "Hanging out with the cool kids," Damon said with a grin. So, from what Damon read the slayer wasn't supposed to be friends with a vampire or demons and especially wasn't supposed to fall in love with a vampire, she was clearly different. "I took you for granted blondie. Have a boyfriend whose a vampire and friends that are different species. Thanks for that life history lesson," he said a little sarcastically.
"I think your friend needs to get out more then." Who named a stake? But Damon had heard weirder stuff so if that was Buffy's thing and her friend's then so be it. "Does your boyfriend know about you using Mr. Pointy?" He said jokingly, it sounded a little sexual which made it all the funnier. He couldn't help but chuckle for some reason. When Buffy had said she knew him from a few friends Damon instantly knew who they were once she further explained. Oh god, he knew where this was going but he wondered why Bonnie would want him protected, then again it was probably all of Elena since Bonnie hated his guts which he didn't care for since he could care less for her.
"Yes, it does," he was going to question how she knew them but she further explained, so he was all caught up. Elena should have really told him about Buffy or else something bad could have went down, although...it still could. "Yay for me, the big powerful slayer can't hurt me," he said playing with her a little bit. "I'm guessing I can't hurt any of your people." He would need the names which Elena should have said but of course the two still have barely talked besides text so it was kind of bad. All was forgiven yet Damon still felt guilty for some reason. He needed to get over his guilt at some point.
Damon was shocked, how did Buffy know he felt guilty? This definitely took him by surprise and he instantly looked down and then looked back up. "I don't. Killing her made me get information. She shouldn't have came to Mystic Falls," he said seriously. He was tired of feeling all this guilt and regret, it was just Lexi not like she was important. So, Damon was caught which sucked. "Congratulations you can read me," he said sarcastically. That was the only way he could keep his wall up by doing sarcastic remarks, he wasn't going to admit to feeling guilt anytime soon just because that wasn't him.
"Elena," he simply stated. "I'm in love with her so I stopped...I don't need the guilt trip of how my brother has her." He wanted to switch topics because he knew he would never have Elena but a part of him was holding on to her. "My turn, what made you come to Richmond?" He wanted to know why she would come here out of all places, there must have been something here that she was looking for, but what? Hopefully she would tell the truth, he didn't want lies, he just wanted the truth. She was a good guy and he was sort of good so she had no reason to lie right? Damon wasn't so trusting.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -His question made her smirk. “One rule. Don’t piss me off.” She told him with a laugh. “Actually but yeah, I do have a couple rules, especially for the vampires on my team. Not to say that you’re on my team so don’t get your boxers in a twist. However no feeding on humans, not hurting humans, and just because I know how smart ass vampires think, that does mean no killing.” She stated, knowing damn well that if she left the whole ‘Not hurting people’ thing open and then she found out Spike (back before he had a soul or a chip) had killed someone he’d look at her with that smirk and say ‘He didn’t hurt. I snapped his neck so it wouldn’t hurt.’ She had learned long ago to cover all her bases.
Damon’s assumption about the love story between she and Angel and she and Spike for that matter made her laugh because it was a complicated assumption with a myriad of truth to it. “You would assume right and wrong actually.” She told him with a laugh. “However the vampire love of my life and I are actually back together for the first time in about five years so I can say we’re working towards that happy ending. What about you Damon? Fall in love with a human, vampire, werewolf, ghost? Come on, I need gossip. Haven’t gotten any in way too long.” She told him with a smile.
Rolling her eyes at his sexual innuendo she smirked. “Wouldn’t you like to know?” She asked him suggestively before breaking out in peals of laughter. She wasn’t sure why she felt so comfortable around this vampire yet something told her that the two of them would get to be very close friends. It was strange since he was much different than most that she knew with the exception of Spike, however it did make sense since she and Spike while yes had repaired their friendship somewhat would always have a level of awkwardness in between them because of their past relationship. Damon and her however, she could see them becoming good friends.
“Correct. Elena and I actually planned on having a big barbeque or something to let everyone meet everyone else, that way no accidents happen. I usually patrol but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t others out there who do the same thing. Which means that we all need to be in each other’s faces in a neutral setting before anything does happen. I don’t want any fights started nor do I want an accident to happen that could be avoided.” She explained, hoping that he would agree but knowing either way she would get her way. She was stubborn like that.
Shaking her head she laughed, though this time it was a slightly bitter laugh. “I can read a lot of people. I wish there was a class out there about the psychology of an opponent, that’s one I would have aced. You may pretend you don’t feel guilty, and maybe you don’t for the act alone. But I can see it. You feel guilty for hurting your brother. Even if you hated the girl, you still didn’t want to hurt him. I have a younger sibling and as much as she drives me crazy there’s not anything I wouldn’t to protect her, even if that’s from myself.” She told him before lightening up the subject.
“So you’re in love with Elena huh? That has to be hard. Watching your brother get to be with the one he loves and not you? So why stay? If you’re brother got the girl why do you bother sticking around? I mean I would think that you’d rather leave, go out and find someone else than watch what you don’t have.” She stated before shaking her head. “And yes, that is my question however before you whine I’ll answer yours. There were actually many slayers activated last year. A friend of mine did a spell and we’re here to find some of the potential slayers and give them a choice whether they want to lose their abilities or they want to train and learn how to protect themselves and others.”

------------------------------ ------------------------------ "That'll be a tough rule to follow," he said with a grin. He loved pissing people off, especially his brother it was just so easy. The best person to piss off was Lexi though, the way she got so irritated was just hilarious which made Damon want to piss her off even more. The rules Buffy stated would be hard to abide to considering Damon never listened to rules. "I can't promise that. I won't drink but hurting...depends the type of day. What if it's my friend's friend?" He asked curiously. The amount of times Damon had hurt Matt or wanted to hurt Bonnie was unbelievable plus there was the fact that he snapped Jeremy's neck out of frustration. God, it kind of seemed like Damon had anger management problems.
"I've always been good at guessing games...I had a lot of practice." He remembered trying to guess what Katherine was trying to do which was very frustrating, the girl was unpredictable but everyone else he could figure them out. "Five years? That's dedication," he said in a little shock. He wondered if Elena and Stefan would ever break up. "True love prevails in the end right?" he said with a smirk. He wondered who this lover was. "How old is this lover of yours?" He asked wondering if he was older than him and if he was then that meant he was stronger than Damon. "I've been in love, not fun. Fell in love with a vampire she turned me and now she's somewhere hiding." He thought that love was pointless but then again he was in love with Sophia, so it wasn't pointless. "There's also a human but I'm also in love with a vampire named Sophia," he had a small smile when he said her name.
Damon was okay mentioning Sophia's name cause he knew he could trust Buffy, there was just something about her that made him trust her and maybe it was because she reminded him of Elena, the two weren't so different they both loved vampires and they just seemed to have a lot of baggage together, Elena and Buffy were probably the best of friends because of this. Damon laughed out loud which was weird since he hadn't had someone make him laugh well a friend or a stranger whatever Buffy was at the moment. The girl was funny, he had to give her that. He had never imagined the slayer to have a personality like this, he enjoyed talking to her, she wasn't boring him.
"A barbecue?" Damon chuckled a little bit. Who had a barbecue for the supernatural, it just didn't make sense to him. "Are you going to be serving blood with your burgers?" He asked playfully. He really wasn't into the whole meet and greet thing just so fights could be avoided. "So, what you're saying is I can fight one of your friends if they agree to fight but not kill each other?" He wanted to know if that would be okay at least and if it wasn't then Damon would just do what he pleased but he knew if Buffy found out she would probably kick his ass unless he kicked her ass, who knew how much slayer power the girl really had. She seemed stronger than him but he wasn't going to admit that of course, he'd never admit that.
"I don't hate the girl...she's a bitch but I can handle her." Damon couldn't hate Lexi, she was just Lexi and yeah he did feel guilty for killing her because it was his brother's best friend plus Damon was being a dick for killing her when she didn't deserve it. "You're right though...I'm a dick but Stefan does matter." Damon knew that he would always save his brother if he had the chance because the two were brothers and even though they had their differences in a lot of things he still loved him. Damon wasn't the best brother obviously. "The best brother award doesn't go to me though." He had done a lot to his brother which made Damon a crap brother.
"Tell me something I haven't heard," he said with a sarcastic tone to his voice. He honestly didn't know why he stayed, maybe he just thought there was a chance. "I told her I'd protect her and that's what I'm going to do. That's why I stay but for why I don't stop loving her...that's complicated. And yes I know I'm a crap brother for loving my brother's girlfriend," he said with a frown but instantly wiped it away. "But just because I love her doesn't mean I don't have fun," he was implying he had flings, he wasn't just hooked on her. "Besides I am moving on I found Sophia. You're the second person to know about her. And you're the first to know that the more I love her the less I love Elena," he said seriously. He hadn't told anyone that before and him telling Buffy was weird he had only known her for a short time so why tell her all of this?
"Oh, more slayers?" He sounded intrigued. "You've been busy," he said smirking. Now he was understanding why she was in Richmond. "So, what when you're done here you'll leave and go somewhere else?" He asked curiously. It would make sense to do that and if she didn't leave then there must have been something here that was making her stay. "I still can't believe that was your question," he said shaking his head with amusement while chuckling a little bit. A question about his love for Elena just, it was weird but in a way he did need to talk about it.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She raised an eyebrow at the dark haired man in challenge. “You think that not hurting people is a tough rule to follow? Then you and I might have an issue, and we were getting along so well!” She stated, with a smack on her jean clad leg. Her blonde hair shifted to the side as she tilted her head, looking at him as she debated on how to answer that question. “Okay, let me ask you this. When you hurt one of your friend’s friends…does he or she get mad? If so wouldn’t you try to avoid hurting his or her friends that way he or she doesn’t get mad?” She asked.
Her hand seemingly on its own reached up to fiddle with her necklace. It was the same cross that seemed to be worn most days anymore since it was practical as well as sentimental. “Guessing games have always been a not so high point of mine. I usually guess really random things just to annoy people, not actually taking the time to think about what I’m guessing.” She stated with a shrug of her slender shoulders. “Example? My best friend will run in with a piece of paper in her hand that looks all formal so clearly she’s wanting to tell me something exciting about school or work? She’ll ask me ‘Guess what?’ so of course instead of really guessing I’ll pretend to think before answering something obscure such as ‘You’ve decided to join the circus?’ or something asinine like that.” She told him with a laugh, remembering how many times she had done something just like that but to Giles when he was talking about what demon they were fighting or how they would kill it. She would admit to missing times such as those, but with she and Giles arguing or not even arguing, but truly not speaking, it seemed as if she would have to wait quite a while before she would have any of those times again.
“True love prevails…I think I’ve heard that saying before. I don’t know if I necessarily believe it but we will see. As for how old he is, he was turned in 1750 something I believe.” She stated before scrunching up her nose for a minute as she thought. Remembering that he was turned in 1756 and he was twenty eight when he was turned so he would have been born in 1728 or something along those lines. “He’s 248 if I’m remembering my math correctly.” She stated, though she knew that she was since his line from when she had barely been eighteen stuck out in her head. In two hundred and forty three years I’ve loved exactly one person.
“So you were in love as a human with a vampire and she turned you? It seems strange then that you’re not together. From what I’ve read and heard, most vampires don’t bother turning humans that they don’t plan on staying with.” She stated. “So why did she turn you? Or did you choose to leave her?” She asked, her curiosity getting the better of her. “Okay so I know about Elena, and trust me, you won’t hear me berate you for falling in love with someone you shouldn’t have. I’m not exactly the poster child for good judgment when it comes to ways of the heart, but tell me about Sophia. Don’t worry, I won’t track her down or anything. I’m just curious. What does it take to win Damon Salvatore’s heart?” She continued to fiddle with her necklace, not even consciously realizing that she was doing it.
“Yes, a barbeque. And no, you have no choice but to come. Come on, you can’t tell me that you don’t want to hang out with people that actually know what and who you are. Everyone has to want friends. I know that you’re friends with Elena and I’m assuming that you at least can tolerate your younger brother, however I have a feeling there are quite a few of my friends that you’ll get along with. Maybe bring Sophia if you’re interested that way you can get your love for her out in the open since you said I’m one of the only people who know about her.” She suggested. “As for blood, yes, we’ll have it. I can’t say you’ll enjoy it since I don’t know your tastes but I do know that my…ugh…hate the term lover and boyfriend and all those damn terms so I’ll call him his name…anyway…Angel will have blood there and if he forgets I’ll get some. Not like it’ll be the first time nor the last that I’ve had quite a few vampires in my home.” For some reason she doubted that Damon drank animal blood from the butcher like Angel, Spike and Kathy did, but she wouldn’t assume anything until he told her.
“Don’t worry, the best sister award doesn’t go to me either.” She stated, though she knew that there was a small part that might should she ever be tested on it. She had literally died for her sister, but how did that sound? That the best thing she had ever done for her younger sister was die for her?
Shrugging she laughed. “You never know what will come out of my mouth. I’m a very random person, ask anyone I know and they’ll tell you the same.” She told him with another laugh. “As for what I’m going to do once I’m done here, haven’t really decided yet. I don’t think it’ll be anytime in the near future what with all the supernatural crap that happens here. However once I’m done I guess I’ll go back to Rome or wherever I’m needed.” She stated before turning slightly more serious. “So what’s the worst thing that you’ve dealt with in Virginia? And by the worst thing, I mean in the supernatural antagonistic bad guy way.”

------------------------------ ------------------------------ Damon gave the young blonde a smirk. "A little." He couldn't help it if he couldn't follow rules, he was never one to follow them not even as a human, well at first he did until he had met Katherine then him abiding rules was just one thing he stopped when meeting her. Damon thought for a moment. "They get upset with me especially Elena when I killed her brother but he had a ring that made him come back alive so," he shrugged like it didn't matter. "I only hurt them if it's necessary to the situation, call me sadistic." he simply said. He left the part of him getting angry a lot because Buffy didn't need to know that part, at least not now since it was irrelevant at the moment. "I've also killed my best friend but he had a ring on to. Snapping necks is my thing." He acted as if snapping necks was a form of art for him.
Damon shifted his weight to his left leg and let his arms lay limp for now since he really didn't need to be crossing them anymore. Damon laughed with her. It was weird to have a friend that could make him laugh, everyone he knew was so depressing because of all the events that occurred. "Why go through that? I never picture you to be the comedic relief," he said when he stopped laughing. He wondered why she just said random things, was it to make the situation lighter or just for the hell of it because either way it was just weird, but that was one thing he realized about Buffy, she was a weird individual. Damon hadn't pictured the slayer to be so weird or this laid back. So, maybe he wasn't the best at guessing as he thought but he was assuming so that was different than guessing.
"I'll agree with you life's a disappointment and love never works out." He was okay with falling in love but being in love meant pain and suffering mostly so love would never succeed especially for the supernatural, it just wasn't possible, well that was Damon's view on it anyway. "Dating an old guy your friends must love that," he said with a smirk. "I guess your motto is older is better," he said once again crossing his arms. This conversation was just so amusing to him and he couldn't get enough of it, he'd have to talk to Buffy a lot more if this was how every conversation would go. To think he was going to try and face her which hadn't happened yet but if it did it seemed as if it would just be for fun not to the death kind of thing.
"Not everything you read is non-fiction spunk," he said with a grin. It was true most vampires who turned the opposite sex generally would stay with them but Katherine was a special case. "Let me tell you a story about a dashing yet idiot boy, he was in love with a girl and so was his brother. They both knew her secrets of being a vampire so they drank blood from her without one of them knowing what had been going on. Father found out and decided to put all vampires in a church where they would be burnt alive the vampire girl whose a bitch and ran away left the two boys and one of them heartbroken. Father finds the boys," he took a breath even though in reality he didn't need to. "Shoots both boys, killing them but what the father doesn't know is both boys have vampire blood in their system so transition starts. boy's little brother kills and drinks the father and forces older brother to drink someone else to complete the transition so they could both stay alive and live happily ever after as brothers." That was his past for you, a bunch of craziness. Damon loved the life of a vampire now although before he was hesitant about it, but being a vampire was everything he was now.
"I like a woman who takes control," he said with a smirk. He always ended up befriending or dating or loving someone who was just in control basically. "I can try bringing her but I don't see her as the type to come to this event. I'll meet your friends but on one condition wonder woman, human blood bags." He didn't want to be drinking animal blood or anything, he didn't know how Stefan...wait Stefan wasn't on animal blood Damon remembered when he and Stefan had fought when Damon had lost his memories but anyway Buffy better have it. "I don't do diets, be honest do I need a diet?" He said teasingly and sarcastically all at the same time.
So, Buffy understood Damon which was a first since no one really understood him. "Isn't that great, we have so much in common," he told her with a smirk. Damon wished that he was a better brother but he couldn't change what he had done in the past and he'd have to live with it. Things were a lot different now considering Damon was getting over Elena. Damon didn't understand how Stefan had not hated him for that but maybe he didn't hate him because he knew that Damon didn't have a chance to get her so there was no reason to be hateful. But still the fact that Damon was such a dick to him, he didn't understand how Stefan could still talk to him so Damon was actually a little grateful.
"I figured that out." She seemed like a really random person so Damon wasn't too surprised considering the conversation they had been having. "Gonna leave me blondie?" He said with a pretend frown. "Worst thing? More like an annoying vampire who can't die or else the whole vampire line goes. Klaus, he's the original vampire and I've been trying to get information on how to kill him or just something so the whole vampire line doesn't die, well I'm looking out for myself not the other vampires. I haven't told Stefan and Elena what I've been doing. Some plans are better left secret." He would tell them if he had any information and if that information was good enough to be shared or important enough. "And his siblings are annoying to deal with also." He didn't feel going into detail about them since they really weren't as bad besides Kol of course. "Once he knows you he'll probably want to meet the famous powerful slayer," he mused.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She quirked an eyebrow at Damon’s comment about killing Elena’s brother. “You’re lucky that I’m not Elena, because if you would have snapped my brother’s neck…regardless that I don’t have a brother, a stake through your heart would have been what you were begging for by the time I was done with you.” She told him, her voice every bit as menacing as those that she had fought and won against. She knew that she was probably taking this way out of proportion since Damon was admitting a crime that he had committed god knows how long ago and according to him Elena’s brother was fine, but she could just see it in her head that if someone laid a hand on Dawn she would kill them.
Kennedy had found that out first hand.
"You've got a thing for snapping necks...I can tell." she told him with a glare. "I'm just going to tell you this one time. Hurt anyone I care about and I will most definitely come back and show you what a slayer can really do." She told him before dropping the subject. She had been getting along with Damon quite well and didn’t want to ruin a budding friendship over something he had done back before she had met him. If she was that type of person she would have never been with Angel, never become friends with Spike and truly never been involved with any of the people that she kept in contact with.
She laughed at the comment about old guys. “Yeah well, you know my motto, the older and the better. Especially if they’re hot.” She told him with a wink. She had called Angel ‘Old Man’ more times than she could count out of jest and he used to get so annoyed about it since apparently he was sensitive about his age. Yes, Angel had a sense of humor, though most people never got to see that side of him.
She could hear the bitterness in Damon's voice as he explained how he was turned. She would admit, just from the small knowledge she had of his sire, Katherine he called her, she could tell that she would hate this woman just as much as she hated Darla. "Women always try to change their play things it seems." She stated before explaining. "Angel, he was turned by a noblewoman, Darla, back in the 1750's. She changed him because he had the face of an angel according to her. Which admittedly he does but she knew nothing about him. She just knew that he was strong and handsome, as if that gives someone the right to take a life away simply because they think they are pretty." She stated, glaring at the ground at the thought of Darla before realizing she was ranting. "So at least you knew your sire. Is she still around?" She asked curiously, not remembering a Katherine on Elena's list of protected vampires.
Hearing that his new woman wasn’t someone who would come to a barbeque didn’t surprise her. “Neither is Angel…or really any of the other vampires that are invited with the exception of one, but I’m forcing them all to come. Angel will come for me and for his friends, Spike, my other vampire ex and current best friend, he’ll come just so I don’t show up wherever he is and annoy him to no end, and the other vampire will have a blast.” She stated, specifically not giving out any details about Kathy. She would protect Kathy with her life and while she was starting to gain a small bit of trust in Damon that didn’t mean she would risk the young vampire’s life on her gut feelings. Besides, it wasn’t her place to give information on Kathy…it was Angel’s.
Her eyes widened when she listed to Damon’s speech about a vampire who couldn’t die and if he did it killed the whole vampire line. She had learned recently that there were different species of vampires which begged the question of were the originals the originals of all vampire species, or just this one. She didn’t want to sound cold but killing an entire line of vampires wouldn’t break her heart…unless one of the vampires that she loved was on that species. Luckily for her she knew that Angel, Spike and Kathy were all in the same line of vampires. However were they on one of the originals lines or another line all together? She knew she had to research this before she brought it up to anyone else since she didn’t want anyone using this knowledge as a weakness against her or any of those that she cared about so she bit her lip, continuing to listen as Damon continued to talk.
“From what I know about Elena she’s not going to be happy that you’re keeping secrets from her. I haven’t met your brother yet though I know that Elena wanted to introduce the two of us, as well as you and I though I guess I can cross that off my to-do list.” She stated before coming back to what she had been saying. “Anyway, I am sure that Elena and Stefan should have the same information you have since you are technically trying to find a way to save not only yourself but your brother as well. Are there any other vampires in your line that you want to save or just the two of you?” She asked before smirking. “Also, you forgot to ask me a question.”
Hearing his comment about Klaus meeting the slayer she shrugged. “Wouldn’t be the first big guy on campus so to speak that wanted to meet me, nor will it be the last. He doesn’t scare me. Though now that I know if I kill him you and your brother die I’m going to have to be a bit more careful about how I go about things. Any tips?” She asked him, wondering if he’d throw in another question or two since she had asked him so many.

------------------------------ ------------------------------ He knew that there were a various times where he could have been staked but wasn't. "I did get a stake through the stomach when I killed my brother's best friend," he then thought for a moment. "It hurt." God, that was a painful stake through the stomach and his brother was pissed off but things were different now and Damon wasn't like that anymore well he didn't kill just for the heck of it now he killed if it was necessary. "So, does the slayer have a dark side," he said with a slight grin. He wondered if she had done anything in the past that was remotely evil but looking at her and talking to her it didn't seem like she would have a history of evil.
"Don't get serious on me now Blondie," he said with a smirk. He wouldn't hurt Buffy's friends because he actually liked the girl and the only reason he would hurt them if they had hurt someone he cared about which probably wouldn't happen so they'd be fine. "I'm reformed so you don't have to worry about me snapping any of your friends necks," he said with another smirk. The only reason he had snapped someone's neck was because they would come back alive so he could take out his anger and not suffer any consequences. He knew Buffy meant business, it was almost as if it was a threat kinda hurt.
He chuckled a bit when she said the hotter the better. The girl had a sense of humour and it was a good one. "Kinda my motto," he said with a grin. He liked Buffy she was actually pretty cool for a slayer and it wasn't weird talking to her even though he was a vampire and she was supposed to kill him, their conversations just flowed really well and that was what he liked about it. He wondered how she could date a vampire for so long, it was weird just thinking about it because she would die of old age while he stayed for eternity and could possibly move on at some point, that was what he thought of Stefan and Elena's relationship as well.
Damon wondered if he'd ever see Katherine again and if he did would he be able to even talk to her without snapping once on her? probably not, the girl was a bitch and a true bitch at that. "Maybe they want to find their soul-mates," he said with a sarcastic tone. He actually wondered why Katherine fed him her blood was she actually planning on turning him or was she just doing it for fun and making it a game? He honestly didn't know and he could care less but he did have to thank her because he did love being a vampire. "Darla? Bad name, who names their kid that?" He shook his head. "Seems like this Darla had a creepy thing for your boyfriend," he said with a tight smile. "Katherine? She's probably hiding somewhere. Kinda her thing she hides then comes back and makes life hell and hides again." She really did like to make everyone's life hell. "Warning, don't trust her," he wanted to make sure Buffy wouldn't talk to Katherine or trust the girl.
"Just like you're forcing me," he said with a smirk. He honestly didn't understand having this barbecue, if no one wanted to go then why have it? He just didn't see the point in it and really didn't want to go but he knew that both Elena and Buffy would make him so there really was no point in fighting it. "You really have a thing for vampires don't you," he said with a playful grin. He wondered who the other vampire was, maybe he'd ask for one of the questions but it wasn't necessary so he didn't really care. He just hoped this barbecue wasn't long and the people weren't going to be annoying him.
Maybe Damon had given her too much information especially about the vampire line thing but then again she was dating a vampire so maybe he was in the line like Damon so she wouldn't want to kill Klaus...but still he basically gave her a way to kill him and everyone else. Klaus was hard to kill though and she didn't know about the white oak so that was good. He wouldn't fill in her in on that just yet, not until he could trust her which could take awhile. It depended if the two had a friendship but Damon usually didn't fill people in because he liked to do things his way so it was better that way but he had a feeling he could involve Buffy on his plans unless she was like Elena and Stefan.
"She's not very happy with what I do most of the time. Oh well," he shrugged. Elena was always upset with him so this could be another thing she could be upset about. "My brother is kinda of a downer. I'm the charming one," he said with a smirk. Damon thought of any other vampires that he wanted to save and he instantly thought of Sophia. "I'm not sure if she's one but Sophia," he said with a smile. "And as much as I hate to say it...my brother's friend and...I guess Elena's friends," he wasn't about saving her friends but if it made her happy then he would unless it jeopardized her. "You're right," he said with a smirk. "My question to you is how many slayers are there?" He was curious to know if there were various slayers.
"Aren't you popular," he added with a smile. He had tried to think of anything that Buffy needed. "The only tip I have for you is stay out of his way. He doesn't know mercy and he's a a douche so two things that are annoying about him. But if you have a witch friend it could make the difference." That's all he could really tell her but even Bonnie couldn't do anything and she was pretty powerful although he hated to admit it. They did need Bonnie in this mission to beat Klaus but Klaus just seemed invincible which was highly annoying.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Rolling her eyes at Damon’s flippant comment about being staked in the stomach she snorted. “Yes, because a little pain was all that you deserved for killing your brother’s best friend.” She told him, reaching up and smacking him upside the head for good measure. There was something about Damon that made her feel comfortable, which was rare since technically she should be attacking him right now to put her own stake in a very deadly place for him…yet she had no desire to do so. She found him comfortable and yet infuriating and funny all at the same time. It was amusing and concerning to say the least.
Hearing that Darla had a creepy thing for Angel was nothing new and she shrugged. “Yeah well she’s dust blowing in the wind so luckily I don’t have to worry about it anymore.” She told him bluntly. “Not that other women don’t want in his pants but at least she’s one I don’t have to handle.” Her hands fell to her hips in a classic ‘Buffy’ position as questioned him. “So is Katherine off limits? She wasn’t on Elena’s ‘do not kill’ list but that doesn’t mean much since she was more concerned about you, Stefan and her friend Caroline.”
Shrugging at his question she tensed for a moment, ignoring what he had just said though not for lack of hearing it, no. Her attention moved to down the beach where there was a couple walking hand and hand…and four vampires following them at a quick pace. She muttered expletives under her breath before holding up her hand at Damon. “Hold that thought. Sacred duty, yada yada yada” She stated before running off towards the couple. Luckily she made it in time though not in time for them not to be scared senseless when she jumped into the fray of vampires, landing a kick to one and a punch to the other, while being jumped on by a third. Quickly taking her stake out she shoved it into the heart of the one on her back who had moved to bite her, groaning as she felt dust cover her hair.
Unfortunately she couldn’t worry about that as she punched and kicked and ducked her way through the fight with the three other vampires. One had been thrown into the water and seemed to not like it very much, though she had a feeling that was because vampires hated to be in any open water since no one ever knew when a priest would come by and bless it. Feeling fangs at her neck she elbowed one in the head, not having heard him come up behind her. However things took a weird turn when she felt the vampire jump away from her as if she had been on fire. She is marked! We must leave! That was all she heard before she jumped back into the fight with renewed vigor. Staking one and then two vampires she tilted her head to the side at the third one, the one who had said they should leave.
“Now, most vampires would love to have a slayer cornered, yet you want to leave…why is that?” She asked, twirling her stake around like it was a keychain. You have been marked. She assumed he meant Angel’s bite on her neck but she had absolutely no idea what that meant. “Yeah, your point?” She asked him, getting inpatient. When a human bears the mark of a vampire they are not to be harmed. We have been marked for death by attacking you by the owner of the mark. Rolling her eyes at the vampire formalities she smirked. “Nah, just by me.” She told him before plunging the stake into his heart and standing up, turning around to see Damon standing there with an unknown look on his face. “Heh, sorry about that.” She told him with a shrug. “Hazards of the profession and all.”
Knowing that he would ask more questions than necessary she thought for a moment before remembering his earlier question. “So you want to know how many slayers there are? Well I’ll give you the very short version. There has always been one, since the beginning of the slayer line there was one girl in all the world to hunt the vampires. Unfortunately I screwed it up.” She stated with a laugh, knowing how many times she had truly screwed things up for the Watcher’s Council and finding it amusing.
“See, when I was sixteen, I died. It was only for a couple minutes…I was drowned by a vampire and my friend was able to give me CPR to revive me. However those few minutes were enough to alert the Watcher’s Council who is in charge of guiding and calling the slayers. Another slayer was called whose name was Kendra. When she died another one was called, Faith, who is still alive. So for the past 7 years there have been two of us. A year ago we had a large evil targeting the Slayer line…killing off all the potential slayers. My best friend activated the entire slayer line, thus allowing everyone to come into their powers. That’s why we are here…to find and teach or to find and take away the powers should they not want to learn.”
Hearing what he said about Klaus she nodded. “I have a witch friend, a scarily powerful witch friend. She actually met Bonnie, Elena’s witch friend. Have a feeling those two are going to become quite close which might frighten me if I didn’t trust my best friend so much.” She told him with a laugh. “Alright, my turn now. Why do you act like you don’t care so much yet it’s clear that you care about people more than you let on?” She asked with a challenging grin.
