Sorry to start a random thing like this but I have a question. Does it annoy anyone else that this show (TVD) cannot have a real villain? I mean that was one of the reasons why Buffy the Vampire Slayer was such a good show (Hardcore Buffy/Angel shipper here)...because while yes, there were a ton of relationships that went in and out during the seven seasons, they still ultimately had an overall plot line to follow. I feel like this show is quickly losing any enjoyment because of the Stelena Vs. Delena aspect of it. I've seen several people tweet (Julie, Nancy, etc.) about how the show is more than just SE vs. DE...but it's really not anymore. It's the fact that they have built this triangle up in such a way that essentially there is no way to resolve it without taking a cop out and either someone dying (series finale), or something else dramatic. I cannot see either way ending well for all three characters... I don't see Stelena ever getting a truly completely happy ending because Damon will always be in the background lurking, waiting... and I don't see Delena ever even being reasonable because how would Stefan handle seeing Elena with Damon for all eternity (because even if it doesn't happen in this season, unless the writers have Elena compelled to forget everything about both Salvatore bros in the series finale, then eventually she will be turned). Neither option is feasible (though the first is clearly what I'd rather see happen, though minus the Damon lurking in the background).
Anyway, back on what I started this post out to say. This show needs to stop turning the 'bad guys' into 'semi good guys'. They started out with Damon...then turned him into this person that he is now that is far less of an enjoyable character for me. Then they had Katherine, and she turned out to be while yes selfish, but at the same time she does actually help out on occasion. Then there was Elijah, who turned out to be honorable and yet he still backstabbed them (and really, I love Elijah, but after everything why is anyone still trusting him?). And then the main one...Klaus. He killed Jenna for gods sake, and took Stefan away...and oh yeah, he killed Elena too! And yet people are perfectly happy to have conversations with him (*Cough* Caroline *Cough*)? I just don't get it!
That's another thing with this show, nothing ever has any consequences. Damon was punished for what...two or three episodes after he killed Jeremy? What about the two times he's killed Alaric. I understand that the whole writing staff seem to be Pro-Damon but it's ridiculous and again, it kills Elena's character for me in a way that makes me furious because she ignores everything that goes on around her. How can someone forget that someone murdered their brother? Yes he had his ring on, but it was made plainly clear that Damon didn't know so if John hadn't shown a bit of selflessness then Jeremy would be dead. So how he's even a viable candidate for whatever it is she's looking for I have no idea. However it's not just Damon that things have no consequence for (unless you name is Stefan and then you're punished for all eternity...even for things that aren't completely your fault).
Also, can we make things a bit more realistic? I know that's asking a lot but again, going back to Buffy the Vampire Slayer... at least things were put against a decent backdrop. The scoobies were always in school. Most of the stuff happened at the school. You heard people getting in trouble for skipping school...and yet no one on TVD is ever at school unless it's some sort of dance or festival. Also with Elena and Jeremy not having a guardian. On BTVS when Buffy's mom died and Buffy was left with Dawn they showed a social worker coming to the house to check up on them...where is Elena and Jeremy's issue with that? Elena yes, she's 18...but Jeremy is 16 (I believe) and still a minor...so unless he was emancipated and we didn't know it...this should have been addressed by now.
A few other things that I want to rant on (I really should not go on twitter or any other message boards because there is only one that I can go on and it not make me furious).
1.) The promotions of this show are severely lacking in anything even remotely real. Second season was supposed to be 'Season of the Kat'...yeah, no. Sure we saw her a few times here and there but she really didn't have a major impact on the show other than the first few episodes of the season. Season 3 was supposed to be 'Season of the Originals'...again...they are just sort of there. Yes, they have had their main purposes but I feel like they were important in the first few episodes, and the last few episodes, but the whole middle of the season they were just sort of there on a backdrop.
2.) Is anyone else SICK of seeing Dances, Festivals, Founder's Days, etc.? I feel like the writers don't know how to go about writing anything unless it has to do with at a party. It drives me crazy because again, it is no unrealistic. I don't care what type of town you are in...you do NOT have this many dances. For one thing, what girl could afford to spend $100-$300 (and sometimes more) on a dress for a dance every month? Not one high school girl that I know. I also feel like that with the DE roadtrips. Every time there is a problem 'Oh, let's hit the road and we can fix it!'. Seriously, why does everything have to end up in a DE roadtrip? (I know it sounds like I'm bashing Damon a lot here and that is not my intention. I really do like his character, just not the inconsistency of the writing within his character).
There have been 3 DE roadtrips...one in each season so far...and they all end pretty much the same damn way.
- 1x11---Bloodlines. In 1x09 (History Repeating) Damon screwed up with Elena as he tried to kill Bonnie after Emily destroyed the crystal to open the tomb. It was pretty clear that Elena was pissed at him for hurting Bonnie. Yet in 1x11 they go on a roadtrip, chaos ensues (with Lexi's boyfriend trying to kill Damon, Elena stopping him and then Damon killing Bree...without Elena's knowledge I presume) and BOOM, all is forgiven.
- 2x03---Bad Moon Rising. In 2x01 Damon snaps Jeremy's neck...and Elena tells Stefan that she hates Damon for it. In 2x02 Damon tries to kill Caroline after she is turned. Yet in 2x03 they go on a road trip and the entire time Damon lies about knowing that Jeremy has his ring on. They seemingly get along a bit better (15 minutes in or so) until the end of the episode where finally Damon admits that he didn't know that Jeremy was wearing the ring. Elena tells him 'Yes, you have lost me forever' and goes inside. This may not have ended with BOOM, all is forgiven, yet it definitely paved the way because in 2x05 (Kill or Be Killed) it seems like things are pretty much okay again.
- 3x19---Heart of Darkness. This episode made absolutely no god damned sense. The writers really need to stop screwing around with everyone's damn heads. I'll admit being a Stelena shipper that this was my alltime least favorite episode of this season (and possibly the series). With that being said I would like to point out that this episode got the SERIES lowest ratings in the United States of any other episode in the entire SERIES. Anyway, back on to what I was saying. With this episode it truly proves the point that I made earlier about the writers destroying Elena's character. In 3x16 (1912) Damon FORCES Stefan to drink from a human, just as he did back in 1912 (which turned Stefan back into a ripper that time) and Elena witnessed it. In 3x17 (Break on Through) Damon tells Elena that he forced Stefan to do it because he needed to learn control. Elena throws it back in his face that maybe Damon shouldn't be the one teaching him control. In 3x18 (Murder of One) Stefan FINALLY tells Elena that he loves her and she says it back to him...and yet in 3x19 Elena and Damon are making out in a cheap motel? Does this make any sense to anyone? No it doesn't. This season has had some of the worst writing I've ever seen. I understand that everyone wants Delena together and blah blah blah, but can we at least stay true to the characters and the show itself? The entire season Elena has sworn up and down that all she wanted was Stefan to come home. She spent all season looking for him...and now that he is back...she's making out with Damon? THIS DOES NOT MAKE ANY GOD DAMNED SENSE! And of course, again, this shit happened on a friggin road trip. Shocker!
.
(Yes, this has gotten extremely more lengthy than I had anticipated but eh, whatever). Does anyone else think that Bonnie needs to either be killed off the show or given a purpose? She's been used as a plot device for the last season and a half and its driving me nuts. Here is this girl, who is supposedly one of Elena's 'best friends' and yet she's only around when a spell is needed. Going back to BTVS. Willow was a witch, Willow was Buffy's best friend...and Willow was ALWAYS there. There is not one episode of BTVS that Willow was not in...yet I feel like we don't see Bonnie more than we do.
This goes back to the whole triangle aspect (yes, I do mean Damon, Elena AND Stefan). I feel like the triangle gets more action than they should, leaving a bunch of other characters just flapping around in the breeze. First season while yes, was heavy on SE romance and drama (and I'll admit I loved that), we also saw plenty of the other characters. Same with second season. Third season has been NOTHING BUT triangle stuff. It's tired. There are many other fans out there that couldn't give a damn who Elena ends up with. According to twitter alot of the fans that don't care about the triangle aspect have given up on the show because it's become more of a Soap Opera than a Supernatural show.
Okay, I'm done ranting now. I could add a lot more but I figured that I would stop here. Also, I'm sure that people will comment and that's completely fine...but if you're going to flame me for my personal views just FYI I will delete your post.

I have a lot to say about the season finale of TVD. I could go on and on about it for days but I will leave you with this. SHE PICKED STEFAN (which makes me happy)!!! However, with that said however I was disappointed in a lot in the way that nothing was a surprise. We knew about almost every flashback, they turned a Bamon scene into a Delena scene from the book, and Elena is going to turn into a vampire.
I'll write a longer rant later, just wanted to post this while I remembered.

Yes, she did meet Damon first...but that whole thing was a bit odd to me too for two reasons. One, they said it was supposed to be first season Damon. First season Damon was still obsessed with getting Katherine back. That's all he thought about and yet he still was out killing people. Hell first season Damon is the one who compelled Caroline to be with him. He fed off of her, used her and abused her...and then told everyone he planned on killing her. Hell he tried and if it wouldn't have been for Stefan spiking Caroline's drink with vervain he would have killed her. So after watching that flashback I don't think that the Damon we saw in the flashback was actually first season Damon and that really annoyed me. Two, Just because they met first doesn't honestly mean anything. Sure, they met and had a 2 minute conversation. Stefan was there for her at a time when she needed someone to lean on. Now maybe if Damon had been there and helped her through the loss of her parents then yes, the tables could be turned. However I don't think that Elena meant 'Maybe if I had met you first' as 'Hey if I would have met you for five seconds first than I would have instantly fallen in love with you' like a lot of people are saying. I think she meant 'If you would have been there first and I would have gotten to know you before Stefan, then maybe...' instead.
As for Klaus, I like Klaus sure, but again like my rant said above. I get annoyed because there are no truly bad characters on this show and that annoys me. There are times where the love triangles are just not enough to keep a show good. It gets tiring and a bit to soap opera-ish for me. There needs to be a strong overall plot and I feel like on TVD that's not the case. Every time everyone works together to get rid of a supposed 'bad guy' something happens and all of a sudden the bad guy turns good. It does get a bit old.
As for Elena being appreciative to Klaus, that would honestly piss me off to be honest. Yeah, Klaus saved her life...but then tried to kill her. Let's also not forget that he drained her dry, forced her aunt to become a vampire and then killed her and forced Stefan away from her. So just because he's done a few good things (which were all extremely selfish in nature) they don't negate the bad he's done.
