In everything, there seemed to be a good side and a bad side. For instance, Glory coming back recently meant that a megalomaniac hell god was running around scheming who knows what. But it did mean that Spike had work to do—up the patrols, keep the baddies in harsher check, and that was nice to be kept busy. He had also gotten to enter the Boarding House for what seemed to be the first time in months. More currently in that same vein of thought, Spike had just won a bike, a classic BSA motorcycle, dealing with cash and not kittens in a local demon’s poker ring. Kittens were still viable currency in the Virginian underbelly, but dollar bills also spoke just fine. The only problem was that a bike needed to be taken care of. Thus, the blond Brit was taking an hour off from his patrols to get some petrol and have a bit of a smoke. Pulling into the little gas station, which seemed to be the only one in Richmond proper, Spike lazily looked from the pump to the store and decided cigarettes were the thing more on his mind than gasoline. With his typical swagger, he walked into the mart, which was more or less silent, save the buzz of the fluorescent lights and the low hum of some coolers in the back. Not bothering to snoop around, the vamp made his way to the counter and muttered, ”Pack of Morleys.” The clerk seemed to be a bit buzzed on something, his eyes slightly glazed and his motions slow, but he grabbed the correct pack and rang it up just fine as well. Shuffling through his duster’s pockets, Spike grabbed up enough cash to fork them over and pay for the fags, and once he snatched them up, he turned on his heel without a word and was back outside to enjoy his new purchase. There were no benches or anything in front of the store, as far as he could tell, but there was a good stretch of brick wall to lean against, near an alleyway but not quite apart of it yet. Out came the lighter and with a small flick, the cigarette was lit. It always seemed to come back to this for him. No matter what was happening, the bulk of his time was spent alone, with a drink or a cig. Spike supposed, that in some ways, it was better like that. He had been the furthest thing from a social butterfly when he was alive, and he was changed now, but still… he wasn’t ever going to be a true member of the precious Scooby family, no matter what Buffy said. Half lost in his thoughts, Spike almost didn’t recognize that his fag had burnt out. After giving it an almost quizzical look, he sighed and crushed it under his boot. That probably meant that he should get his petrol and go. The vamp moved to grab some other cash, first from his pockets, then patting his jeans, then checking the duster pockets again… but no luck. Spike felt his lips screw up into a scowl, but with a heavy huff, he lit another cigarette and decided to wait. It was possible that he could phone someone to come rescue him, but the blond had far too much pride for that. No, he would rather ask a stranger for money instead. Or if they were bad beastie of some sort, he’d thrash them as hard as he could and take their cash by force. It sounded like a good plan. And he had twelve cigarettes left to wait with him. +++ TAGS: Open WORD COUNT: 612 NOTES: Open Thread! Just Because :3

The Trickster stood in his apartment, staring at his phone, staring at the wall and then flipping the television on. Dr. Sexy wasn’t on and that just made the entire night more boring. His dog, Hershey was asleep on the chair beside him and he was just bored out of his mind. The youngest archangel in the red boxer shorts and the white tank top with the glass of champagne in his right hand stood up and did it carefully so that he wouldn’t wake up the little dog that was sleeping beside him. He walked into his little kitchen area and he placed his glass down on the counter and looked at the wanted ads. The Trickster was going to go undercover again, where? Oh, who knows. Maybe he will end up being a janitor again. Those were some good times.
The archangel then snapped his fingers and was now wearing his usual attire of a jacket, his black and red plaid shirt and blue jeans. He walked out of his apartment and disappeared.
The Trickster appeared in a small gas station store where he was going to pick up some treats, well more like pretend to do it. He had been meaning to pay this old gas station man a visit for ripping people off and stealing money. What a better way to kill someone than with their own greed? The youngest archangel was going to have fun with that. He turned and once he noticed the familiar blond man leave, the Trickster snapped his fingers. He didn’t want Maddie’s friend to get caught in the cross fire.
Gabriel had then walked out of the store, slipping out unnoticed by the man behind the counter.
“hey there vampy, long time no see.” Gabriel said to him as screams filled the background. Gabriel simply smiled, and heard the blood hitting the window behind him.

The fourth cigarette in and no one had arrived at the small Richmond gas station. Though Spike knew he was too stubborn to walk home without his new prize, he was beginning to mull the idea around. Damn. He really liked this bike too. And by the time he could return for it, it would probably be in the hands of some jackass taking it for a joyride. Double damn. But what was he to do? Standing out here with nothing but a pack of smokes was going to bore him to death. Or deader, at least. And that’s when he heard a familiar voice greet him from the door way of the quick mart, almost drowned out by dreadful, shrill cries of pain. The vampire’s eyes flicked towards it just in time to catch the last screams and a mass of bodily fluids fly up just behind the Archangel. ”Did you just explode the petrol station clerk?” Spike half pointed with his cig, unsure if he really had seen beads of blood spatter the large dirty windows, ”He seemed a bit jacked up, but I didn’t realize taking a hit was reason for holy vengeance.” Of course, the blonde vamp was half joking. Maybe the man had been a bastard of some sort. Normally, such a thing would have prompted Spike to take a baddie out, but it was pretty evident that Gabriel had his fingerprints all over that. In the end, the Brit decided to let it go and hoped he wouldn’t have to go against the angel. Instead, he stamped out the fag and looked back up to Gabriel. Recent events had sort of gotten to him, and, though Spike rarely planned ahead, this was a rare time where he thought he should, ”You got my messages, right?” That was more or less hypothetical, since Gabriel was here and probably would have been somewhere else if that weren’t the case. Or maybe he was here because he wanted to screw with Spike. Either way, the vampire continued, wanting to put his point across quickly, ”Buffy died. Something pulled her back, but for a few moments, she was gone. And it scared the hell out of me.” Just to know she could so easily be taken from them… but then again, this wasn’t the point to him requesting the angel to visit him. Gabriel had allowed, hell, even requested, for him to talk before, and Spike had to admit that the Trickster was a surprisingly good listener. And yet, those feelings were something that Spike needed to be hidden away for the moment. Now was the time for business. ”You said you owed me a favor. And I have it.” The blond Brit had probably spent a bit of time thinking about it before, but now it was crystal clear what he wanted, ”If she dies again, and the powers or whoever don’t try to bring her back, I want you to find her and let her come back… if she wants to.”+++ TAGS: The Trickster WORD COUNT: 504 NOTES: Oh Hai :3

The Trickster smiled at Spike when the vampire had asked him if he just blew up the station clerk. “greed. Always bites you in the ass in the end.” Gabriel gave a light shrug. “they do call it a deadly sin you know.” The youngest archangel then finished with a small smile. that’s how he worked and that’s how he had always done things in the past, for thousands of years. He killed people who deserved it in his eyes and that guy definitely deserved it. The Trickster didn’t think that this was any different from what his father does, or rather did.
“who said anything about holy vengeance?” the Trickster asked him curiously. He raised an eyebrow at Spike. Did the vampire not get it, the I left heaven thing and became a demigod? Killing is all those demigods do.
Spike then went on and brought up the messages. Yeah, Gabriel got them. He didn’t really know what to say to the vampire. Gabriel didn’t go around and bring people back from the dead unless he had a good reason to or he needed that person for something specific, like the time or couple times he had brought Dean Winchester back from the dead. He did it for himself and not for anyone else. He usually wouldn’t do it for anyone else. Gabriel looked back at Spike seriously when Spike had said that Buffy died. He knew she died. Maddie told him. that’s why the visions stopped briefly. Gabriel looked at Spike when he said that her being gone scared the hell out of him. “Spike and Buffy sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G.” was all the archangel could say to him, well more along the lines of sing to him.
He then brought up the favor. Gabriel forgot about that. He let out a silent groan and he looked back at him. “I cant. that’s messing with the natural order of things. I don’t do that. Death is more powerful, and just as old as my father. It would take a lot. I have never fully brought someone back from the dead. Theres a bit of a half dead period too. Hard to explain it all.”

The vampire tilted his head and stared at the patterns of blood on the windows for a second longer. Killing a man over greed? Well, Spike wasn’t going to think on it too much, but it wasn’t something he would kill a person over. Then again, he had sworn off killing most humans, even the bastards of the world, and he had taken to fighting against those who murdered. But he swallowed his pride in this instance, knowing that a battle against Gabriel would be one in that he had no chance. Odds being stacked against you the vampire liked, but not being killed was a pretty high priority for him as well. In any case, Spike took a drag on his cigarette before quipping, ”I never was much for hating the sin and not the sinner.””You did say it was because of one of the seven.” Spike referred to the deadly sins as well, a small grin forming on his lips for a second at the angel’s correction. It sort of confused Spike how he was so attached and defensive of Heaven and yet wanted nothing to do with them, it seemed. But it made the perfect subject to stick Gabriel on, ”You stick to your roots more than you think, sweet-tooth.” Of course, joshing each other went both ways, and Spike probably wouldn’t have scowled as sourly to the archangel’s singing if he hadn’t been deadly serious about what he was talking about. And of course, Glory had recently rubbed salt into that wound before rubbing his face into a headstone, so that was still a sore point. His and Buffy’s relationship was complex and probably would always be as such. Spike would never like people commenting on it as well. But where he couldn’t fight with action, the blond often fought with words, ”Our gods are five year olds. That explains a hell of a lot.” But that was all he muttered and he merely shifted how he was leaning against the bricks. But once he heard the angel’s reply, he felt something in him cave and Spike flung the cig to concrete, his lip curled in half a sneer, ”I don’t think it’s as fucking complicated as you want to make it out to be. You’ve told me you brought back other people—Dean. So tell me this. How come The Powers can pull up people whenever they want and yet your hands are tied this time?” Had he known that the angel was going to be such a waffling wanker about it, perhaps Spike would have tried to find a way to get the Powers. Maybe they weren’t as ineffectual as Gabriel claimed they were. The vampire seethed and tried to lower his voice, but it only managed to get to a kind of growl, ”I didn’t help Maddie for profit. You should know that.” Maddie was a great girl. Too good for Spike. That wasn’t the point here, though. Spike merely wanted to point that out before trying to press his luck again, ”But you said you owe me. You said you’ve reserved a place in heaven for Buffy. Are you saying you wouldn’t even try?” There was a hint of desperation in Spike’s voice that he didn’t wish was there, but still, he couldn’t help it. +++ TAGS: Gabriel WORD COUNT: 553 NOTES: Lol, Spike's a little drama queen sometimes...

The Trickster looked at the vampire when he said that he was never much for hating the sin and not the sinner. Gabriel wondered what he meant by that. When it came down to it, Gabriel hated both. Oh well, he wouldn’t press the topic more. The Trickster looked at the window. He smiled at his work. Gabriel then looked at him when he asked his question and then shook his head at Spike’s next statement. “well that and the guy was a total asshole. Yeah and not really no. see Heaven is about forgiveness. I can give two shits when it comes to that. They don’t kill. I enjoy the kill.” Gabriel smiled. It was true. He had lived as a Demi god for so long that killing people to punish them doesn’t bother him anymore. He also used to be much more creative when it came to that kind of stuff but this time, he wasn’t really looking to be creative.
The youngest archangel looked at Spike and laughed. “don’t you mean angels?” Gabriel asked and he shook his head. “come on, have a little fun. I’m just messing with you.” Gabriel laughed and let out a sigh. Spike wasn’t being any fun. That just made Gabriel bored.
The Trickster looked at Spike as he started talking to him in a way that Gabriel didn’t like at all. The youngest archangel’s smile faded and his eyes narrowed at Spike. Why the hell should he have to explain himself to Spike? Spike obviously didn’t know just how powerful the horseman Death really was and how Death is one day going to reap God.
“I don’t appreciate your tone.” Gabriel simply stated to Spike, his hot-headedness really showing through. He felt the anger fuming inside. “it is a lot more complicated. As I said there is a small period before someone is fully dead. If I brought someone back from the dead, they may not be the same person they once were. Dean was never fully dead. I had gotten to him seconds after. And as for your powers that be? I have no clue but I am sure that Death would eventually get pissed enough and reap them as well. He isnt a good guy to know. What goes around comes around with him.” Gabriel almost yelled at the vampire, his grace nearly showing through. “everything comes with a price with Death.” Gabriel said and he simply turned around about to walk away.
Spike had then looked at him saying that he didn’t help Maddie for profit and that Gabriel said that he owed him. “there is a spot for her yes. There’s a hint of free will going around. Sometimes, people have had enough with it all, sometimes when they die they want to stay dead. Believe me I know. I’ve been dead for a year or so and in that darkness I wanted to remain until dear ol’ daddy ripped me out. It damages even an angel.” The Trickster said to Spike truthfully. “and again, I cant help if Death, himself is involved. That guy has a temper worse than mine.” Gabriel then added. He paused once more. “I can give you the whole fucking story of Death, but I really don’t feel like it, and yes, I thank you for helping her by keeping her out of hell and starting another apocalypse, you didn’t just do me a favor, you did the world a favor. So if you accuse me of not even trying, do your homework. Things arent always as easy as we make them look.” The Trickster said to Spike, still with a rude and almost yelling tone in his voice. He wasn’t happy and his grace shining the way it was showed that.
“Wonder what purgatory would do to a vampire.” The Trickster mumbled under his breath.

”Oh yeah. I remember that. Gluttony, sloth, being an asshole.” Spike smirked, obviously just being a smartass. If there was anything that he liked best about being with Gabriel, it was probably the ways they could unexpectedly riff off of each other. He had never really thought about religion and whatnot until he had met Maddie and her guardian, but now that he had, Spike thought a little more about it, curious about the difference between fact and fiction. But that really wasn’t what he was here to talk about. Then again, a bit of small talk wouldn’t hurt. The vampire gave a small nod of his head when Gabriel described how he liked the kill. ”I used to be like that. I’m still like that in some ways.” The Brit admitted. A good fight was always nice and a kill was very satisfying. His nose wrinkled a bit when the Archangel corrected him, since technically, he wasn’t truly a god. He supposed that what he said was wrong, but that wasn’t the point. ”Your other name is Loki, so kind of a god, aren’t you?” Spike argued back anyway. He really wasn’t in the mood for games, honestly quite scared by Buffy’s death. The conversation was becoming steadily more prickly, but Spike didn’t care as much as he probably should have about respecting the more powerful angel. He recognized Gabriel becoming more irate, but the vampire still was defiant in the face of such danger. He felt the pressure of the angel’s grace bearing down on his chest, almost crushing the vampire’s still heart. It reminded him of the times when Glory had used her true power against him. For someone who claimed he wasn’t a god, he certainly had the power of one. Biting his lip a touch when Gabriel explained how his version of resurrection worked, Spike mulled over what he was saying. The first time that Buffy had been truly brought back from the dead, she had become something different. But he didn’t know what else to do if he lost her again. Spike wasn’t the Slayer’s obsessive stalker anymore, but she was the only person he had allowed himself to get close to, the only person who seemed to care more than anyone about his wellbeing and, strangely enough, his happiness. And yet, if she was resurrected, would it be a repetition of his experience with his mother where all of her kindness had vanished? He shook his head, mostly to clear the frustration from it, ”Maybe I should have talked to The Powers. Not that they’re any less of a pain in the ass than you are.”More and more what Gabriel said reminded him more of when Willow brought Buffy back. She had truly wanted to stay dead and had become very damaged by her resurrection. Perhaps it was just selfish of him to ask for her to be brought back. He curled his lip into a distasteful scowl, ”I don’t want to hear a story anyway, so you can save it.” It seemed that nothing he was saying was having any effect and only making the angel angrier. The aura would have been suffocating, if Spike could breathe. ”Fine. Fuck it, forget it.” The blond growled, finally breaking his harsh gaze and moving back towards the door of the gas station. It was still sticky with blood, but Spike had seen worse messes and wasn’t really fazed by the gore. He paused in the doorway and looked back to the angel, ”I’m gonna take all of his cigarettes. I heard that stolen candy tastes pretty good too.”+++ TAGS: Gabriel WORD COUNT: 605 NOTES: Whew. That was quite a break.

The Trickster looked at Spike the vampire when he said that he remembered that. The youngest archangel was quiet, and then the silence was broken when the vampire said that he used to be like that and he was still like that in some ways. Gabriel knew that to be true, in fact he actually had that in common with him. It was really strange that he had something in common with someone that he thought that he wouldn’t in a million years.
The archangel looked at him when he asked if his other name is Loki, and that he was some kind of God. Gabriel shook his head. It was only an alias. He had used it to hide, something that Spike probably didn’t understand. The Trickster really wasn’t in the mood to continue to talk to the vampire. He was furious with the archangel and Gabriel knew that. He knew that Spike wouldn’t give up without a fight but Gabriel couldn’t let him think that he could bring Buffy back like that. Death would come and try to take Gabriel again and he couldn’t let that happen, not now. Before he thought that he had nothing left and now, now that he had become more sociable, Gabriel had a lot.
“Just my own private witness protection. Not really who I am, just an identity. The real Loki is running around Asgard somewhere. The two of us made a small deal.” Gabriel said to him, the vampire who tried to argue with him. Gabriel wasn’t really in the mood to argue. Spike had no say in what Gabriel would do about Buffy dying, and when Death is involved Gabriel had never really wanted to mess with the guy. After all he is just as powerful as his father. “and if I am a God, Death is so much more. Just meet the guy and you will understand, though your mind certainly doesn’t want to because your feelings are blinding it from understanding.” Gabriel said to Spike knowing that he has seen all of this before. “you’re like the Winchesters you know. Doing everything you can for, well in your case, friends.” Gabriel finished.
The Trickster looked at him, watched him closely. Spike was getting more and more angry every second and Gabriel didn’t really want to make him angry because of the fact that Maddie liked the company of the vampire which confused the hell out of the youngest archangel. Gabriel let out a sarcastic laugh. The powers that be and that was a funny one. He looked at Spike again when Spike told him to save it because he didn’t want to hear the story.
“Then I won’t tell.” Gabriel replied and shook his head. That was one thing that also made him annoyed. Spike wasn’t willing to listen. If he couldn’t listen than he couldn’t learn anything. Gabriel was trying to hand him knowledge that no one, no human knew, that barely any angel knows, but the vampire refused, which was a loss on his behalf. “One can’t help the other if the other isn’t willing to listen. Someone taught me that.” Gabriel said to Spike, referring to his older brother Lucifer. That’s how Lucifer was able to get Gabriel to learn all of the tricks that he knew.
The fuck it attitude coming from Spike actually made the archangel sort of calm down. Sure he was angry but at this point, he couldn’t think like him. He had to be the bigger person, well, being anyway. Maddie would hate him if this fight would tear her and him apart. Spike then went on and said that he was going to take all of the cigarettes and candy. The Trickster rolled his eyes at him and merely shrugged.
“have at it.” he said to Spike, egging him on. Gabriel didn’t care for that, not right now. “if you don’t believe me on all of this death stuff, just ask an angel named Castiel. He has tried to resurrect people, and tried with Sam in hell and brought back that Winchester without a soul. Or you can ask an angel named Joshua who is rumored to talk to God, and was the one who told me that daddy brought me back from the dead, and I still haven’t seen him to thank him.” Gabriel said to Spike. “or you can ask any old demon and they will tell you not to fuck with Death. Even Dean Winchester knows a thing or two, surprisingly.” Gabriel finished, not saying anything more on the subject. He was calmer now, not as angry as he was. The hot headed angel was trying to change.
The youngest archangel turned away from Spike and was about to leave, but something stopped him. He wanted to wait, he wanted to see what the vampire was going to say to him. Gabriel then let out a sigh and he turned around to face him. “Think what you want of me after this conversation but don’t take it out on Maddie. She enjoys your company and talking with you. She considers you a friend. I’m not going to be the reason why you two fall out and if that’s what you say to her fine. I knew it was stupid of me anyway.” Gabriel said, with all seriousness in his voice. He was being honest, showing concern in his voice. He had only taken up the job of being her guardian angel because Michael was a dick and didn’t come to her in the presence of a demon. That always made the archangel angry, thinking about that made him angry.
“The most I can promise you is if I am there within a certain amount of time when she dies. I can bring her back from the halfway point, before the reapers, but after, its all up to her and whoever decides to bring her back. Hope that’s enough for you.”
Gabriel really hated getting into arguments and now with him completely calm, he just wanted to hear the vampire talk, or yell, or whatever he would want to do. The youngest archangel was done yelling. He was done being angry. He knew that Spike had feelings for Buffy, love that he couldn’t have because she loves Angel. Gabriel didn’t know what that was like, but in a way he felt it as well. Kali was a big one to fall in that category with him. She would forever love Baldur, and Gabriel now could live with that since she had tried to kill him a year ago. There was too much on the angels mind now. He was actually ready to take what he could from Spike. If Spike needed someone to stab or shoot or whatever, the youngest archangel would volunteer since nothing of human creation can harm him.
“if you need some sort of punching bag, here I am, though it will hurt you a lot more than it will hurt me, quite literally.” Gabriel said, referring back to him being like a brick wall. If Spike punched the archangel, surely his hand will break.

Spike’s eyebrows both kind of quirked for a second as he listened to Gabe describe the deal with Loki. Just how many myths and legends were actually real? He was tempted to ask if the Egyptian and Olympic pantheon also existed, but he was still more riled at this point in the conversation, so snarky sarcasm was the route to go, ”Does he look like Tom Hiddleston?” The vampire put flatly, just wanting to piss Gabriel off more, even though it definitely wasn’t a good idea. Realistically, he could be squashed like a bug by this behemoth of a creature, but Spike wasn’t very good at holding his tongue, regardless of the situation. Hearing that Death was beyond the power of a God made sense though. He supposed even that hell bitch Glory had to die at some time. And though it didn’t really show on his face, Spike did at least innately know that he never wanted to go toe to toe with death. He was a strong warrior, but he had been feeling so small lately, these original vampires and hell gods and his evil grandsire hopped up on Slayer blood kicking him down pretty hard. He lit another cigarette and said nothing to Gabriel’s analysis, that he was being ignorant because he was too close to Buffy. He couldn’t say anything to him because he knew it to be true. He didn’t know why he was here, considering he was sure that there was going to be a rift in between him and the blond Slayer as long as Angel was in the picture. But he still felt as if he had to try. His feelings for the Slayer were still very strong, and it scared him quite a lot. Between that and being denied so quickly by the archangel, Spike was certainly becoming more irritated and frustrated. To Gabriel saying he wouldn’t tell about Death, the vampire just gave an indifferent shrug, not caring that Gabriel found his sulking ridiculous. He would have just puffed on his cig more, but the little moralistic catchphrase that the archangel tagged on did nothing but make Spike furious. With a violent flick of his wrist, the Brit threw down the fag and raised his voice to the angel, ”Well, you know what also makes it hard to listen? When people say they don’t want to be bothered to tell the bleedin’ story in the first place!” Noting that he was yelling, Spike just reached up to hold his head in one of his hands, then decided the whole thing had to be put to an end. He wouldn’t make Gabriel go away, but he was done trying to badger the angel into anything. Inside, Spike slid around the bigger pools of blood and guts and hopped over the counter where he started to rifle through every cigarette box, trying to find his favorites among the others. He vaguely listened to the angel, only a bit surprised that he had decided to follow him. Gabe was a talkative guy, probably since he spent most of his time in solitary on the run. But Spike didn’t mind listening and did appreciate the information. He finally finished rooting through the cigarettes and, once he made sure that the counter was clear of blood, boosted himself up to sit on it, and lit another cig. It was a good thing he was undead, or Spike would have probably gotten cancer just from the cigarettes he had smoked tonight. ”Resurrection is hard. I get it.” He said, not really aggressive anymore, but more resigned, ”When her mates tried it, Buffy didn’t come back exactly… human. Mostly, she was. But she’s never quite been the same since.” He supposed he should have been grateful for that, since it was this that allowed the Slayer to connect to him, first physically, then later emotionally. But what did Spike have now? He shut his eyes for a moment, trying to push the sore point away for now. Though his eyes opened again as soon as he sensed the angel was going to leave, ”You don’t want any, sweet-tooth?” He said, gesturing to the display of chocolate bars and other candy, mostly joshing him. But his expression sobered once the topic of Maddie came up. He supposed he hadn’t been grateful enough for her kindness, her straightforward acceptance of what he was. She was certainly a special girl. ”I wouldn’t. She has nothing to do with this, and I’m still going to protect her, if she needs me.” Because, really, that girl didn’t deserve to be hurt more than she had been, ”If I fall out with Maddie, it won’t be because of you. It’ll be because… I’m an idiot quite often.”His solemn tone got softer when Gabriel finally made a little concession. It was like a weight was lifted off of Spike’s chest to just hear that the most powerful thing he was sort of allies with would do something if Buffy was in trouble. ”Thank you. That’s all I can ask for.” He put out his nearly used up cigarette on the linoleum countertop and then jumped off and went into the petrol station’s aisles, seeing if there was anything else he wanted. He pocketed a few varieties of liquor, but didn’t really feel like drinking at the moment. ”No thanks. I want a biscuit.” He replied to Gabe’s offer, uncharacteristically not in the mood to do violence, and more in the mood for something comforting. He rifled through some packages before finding some snickerdoodles and grabbed two bags of those and returned to the counter with one of the cookies in his mouth, holding another out for Gabriel to take if he wanted it. +++ TAGS: Gabriel WORD COUNT: 960 NOTES: That's just fine :3 I like long posts.

The Trickster looked at the vampire and tilted his head to the side when he had asked if Loki looked like Tom Hiddleston. Was that some sort of joke or something? He was really confused though it wasn’t along the lines of the fact that he didn’t understand the reference. He had known who Tom Hiddleston is and he knows that this Hiddleston played Loki in the comic movies but what had that have to do with this? That was fiction and this is reality or did he mean it to be a joke. Yeah that was probably it. He didn’t know why he didn’t quite get it at first the Trickster was one for jokes. The expression on his face did not change. He put his head back up right and shook his head to the rhetorical or joke question that Spike had asked him. “I don’t know why you would think fiction has anything to do with this.” The Trickster said to him, shaking his head.
After Gabriel had told Spike that he was too close to Buffy Summers, he didn’t say anything but smoke a cigarette. The Trickster watched him and he knew that Spike was very angry and head and over heels in love with the slayer who, according to Maddie, is with Angel, another vampire that she had met but isn’t as close to as she is with Spike. The Trickster raised an eye brow at him, still watching and waiting to see what Spike is going to do or say. He stood there in silence and the Trickster deduced that he was just thinking to himself.
The Trickster still looked at him when he stared speaking again. He shook his head. The vampire sort of reminded him of himself when he was young in heaven with Lucifer. The vampire had thrown the cigarette that was smoked down on the floor as he told him he didn’t want to hear the story in the first place. The Trickster wouldn’t say a word to him then. If he didn’t want the knowledge that wasn’t known by any but the archangels and God and Death then he doesn’t want to hear it. The Trickster would never offer that information to him again. He wondered if that was one of the perks about being an archangel. There was that and the fact that he was one of the few angels that has actually seen his father in person.
Was this some sort of role reversal or something? He wondered if father wanted him to help the vampire somehow. He wondered if this vampire was destined for something great in father’s head and Gabriel and Maddie were just drawn to him, to help somehow. That made him think more and more about the entire situation, about the entire friendship or whatever this was that they had with the vampire. Gabriel would just have to wait and see and hold his anger so that he didn’t drive the vampire away at all.
The Trickster looked at him as he hopped over the counter and he continued his own thinking, not really paying much attention to what the vampire was doing and if he had said anything to Gabriel. The youngest archangel was still confused over why he was brought back from the dead in the first place, why father had decided to bring him back after Lucifer had killed him. He knew he was brought back by father because of what Joshua had said, and Joshua is the only angel who still communicates with father. He wondered why father had chosen Joshua of all angels. Though, sometimes Gabriel could see that he was and is the obvious choice.
The youngest archangel looked back at Spike when he said that he got that resurrection is hard. There wasn’t the anger in his voice anymore which made Gabriel a bit worried. He knew that the vampire was very hot headed and he wondered what was going through the vampires head. He had told him that when the friends of the slayer had brought her back she didn’t come back exactly human. Yeah that happens too. He also said that she wasn’t exactly the same after that either.
“no, they usually aren’t the same after. I was surprised that she was still in one piece to be honest. Sometimes when a spell brings them back from the dead like that, Death will send them back as a zombie.” Gabriel said, knowing that it has happened on a number of occasions. “And I am not joking either.” The Trickster finished with a shrug.
Gabriel shook his head about the sweets. “I don’t have to. I bend reality remember?” Gabriel said to him about stealing the sweets. There were times that he was caught buying but that was only because he was about to play one of his tricks on someone within the store or something along those lines.
The Trickster was relieved that that was taken care of because she would definitely kill him if Spike and her weren’t friends anymore because of him. Spike then said that he would continue to be there for her if she needs him. Gabriel was happy with that response. He was then told that if Spike and Maddie fall out it would be because Spike is an idiot. He knew that Spike would have to do something extremely terrible to get Maddie to hate him. She was such an easy going and forgiving person. There were many things that the Trickster had done and yet she still talks to him and they are still really good friends.
Spike then said that what Gabriel had said was all he could ask for. The Trickster nodded. He really didn’t know what else to say on that subject, the subject of Buffy’s death. Gabriel then knew that he could teach Spike a lesson by bringing her back soulless next time; show Spike that what he is saying is the honest truth. To do that though, he would have to talk to Death and that’s something the archangel didn’t want to do at all, though when it came to souls, he had easy access because the slayer would be in heaven no matter what, unless she turned around and made a deal with a demon, then there was nothing that the archangel could do for her.
The vampire had told him that he didn’t want to fight, that he didn’t want to do anything. That was a wise choice. Maddie could vouch for that one. She was the one that punched him and broke her hand, almost every bone in it. Gabriel had healed it right after though. The vampire had held out the cookies and Gabriel had taken one and bit into it.
“so, you still have feelings for one slayer as you bang the other? That’s kind of funny to me.” Gabriel said, looking at Spike, wondering if he could push another button or two.

”A joke. It’s called a joke.” The vampire muttered, saying it even though Gabriel probably knew it was a joke and just didn’t think it was funny. Did this winged poof not get any brand of humor other than his own? Spike supposed it must be true. He was becoming more irate than he ever thought he would dare be with the archangel, but he couldn’t help it. He was hot-headed and the angel was helping him any to calm down at the moment. It wouldn’t be until much later in the conversation that Spike had run the gamut of his emotions and finally settled on despondency. And with that came stealing things to make himself feel better. He took a drag on the cigarette, thinking about what the archangel was saying, ”They told me that. Her friends.” Spike admitted to the Gabriel once he said that Death sometimes sent people back less than whole, ”Funny thing is, I don’t know if I would have let them send her back, even like that.” He had been so obsessively in love with her. Now, things had changed, but was it anyone else that he was begging a favor for? No. It was still about Buffy. It was probably sick of him to still be this desperate about her, but it was in his gut, nearly ingrained in him to worry about her and want her to be safe. The vampire shook his head a little bit, knowing that Gabe had missed his meaning, ”Yeah, but it’s the stealing that makes it tastes better,” He put lightly, trying to make the conversation something other than about Buffy. But of course, the angel brought it around to the Slayers again—both of them for some reason. Reclaiming the counter as his sitting place, he devoured the last of the biscuit in his mouth and dug another one out from the crinkly package. What was exactly supposed to say to the angel’s question? That was sort of the truth of it. He couldn’t really say that he was truly head over heels in love with Buffy anymore, but he couldn’t deny that what Gabriel had said was a version of what was happening. Spike just had to think on what he was going to say. ”I’m okay with being used.” That was all the vampire could think of to say at first. He really wanted another cigarette, though even for a vampire, he had probably smoked more than enough. It was just something that could occupy his hands, make him think a bit more fluidly. But he kind of felt leaden, his hands unable to reach for either the pack of Morleys or his lighter. The angel’s off handed comment struck the blond with some kind of strange hollow emotion, though within a few seconds, Spike spoke up again, ”Just giving them both what they want from me, I guess. One wants a support when her boyfriend goes psycho, other wants to play games. But it’s better than nothing.” Silently, Spike finished his morsel of cookie and leaned back to grab just a bit of cash out of the register—just enough to fill the tank of his bike. Chances were that this guy wasn’t the only employee that worked here, and taking more than a few things would be too greedy, even for the normally amoral vampire. ”I think I should get. I’m still technically on a patrol. Don’t want to risk getting caught somewhere when the sun comes up.” And with that, the vampire left the counter again and was out of the door, not even really giving the archangel a parting look goodbye. He halted at the door, though, his fingers trying to go around the bloodstains soaking into the frame, ”Tell Maddie… I’d like to see her again.” And then the door swung shut behind him. +++ TAGS: Gabriel WORD COUNT: 646 NOTES: Sorry about the wait... The Trickster looked at Spike when Spike said that it was a joke. He rolled his eyes. He figured that out and now that Spike had to actually say that it sort of made Gabriel feel a bit stupid. He let out a sigh and looked at Spike wondering what the vampire was thinking about. Part of him he really didn’t want to know what was going through the vampire’s mind at all. He knew that stuff like that could be a dark place and Gabriel had enough of that when it came to his brothers.
Spike had told him that her friends had told him that. Yeah that does happen, and he wasn’t surprised that it had happened to the vampire slayer. That could have also been the angels not wanting to give her up but the spell was directed to the body and not her soul. There were several loopholes, and apparently one of her friends had found one. Gabriel let out a sigh. He knew that they had found a bad way to bring her back. The next set of words made Gabriel look over at him. Was he serious? A moment ago he was all for bring her back no matter the cost and now he said that he wouldn’t let them bring her back like that if he knew. Gabriel didn’t question it. He didn’t want to make Spike more angry because in return Gabriel would get mad too.
Gabriel noted what Spike meant now. He didn’t believe that at all. He then went on and said that he was okay being used, Gabriel knew that may be far from the truth, though in the end, the Trickster really didn’t care. The youngest archangel looked at him again when he said that he was giving them both what they want from him. He told the Trickster that one wants support when Angel goes insane and the other likes playing games. “maybe you should associate yourself with other people who wont use you like that.”
Spike then said that he should get going. "yeah, she would like that." The Trickster said and he made a slight shrug and with the flap of his wings, the youngest archangel was gone.
