- - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - A surprise to seemingly all three of them, a knock came at Caroline's front door. Quizzically looking to the group, she nodded to Elena. What was Jeremy doing here? She knew those two were close but dang, couldn't they go one night without each other? This was supposed to be a girls night, not a girls and brother night. As Elena pranced off in the direction of the front door, she couldn't help but laugh as Bonnie seemed to go on about Lindsay Lohan, cheerleading, and the sophomore on her team. They talked about the idle subjects while Elena was gone, though Caroline couldn't help but wonder what had caused Jeremy to show up like this. Deep down she felt like something was wrong but she desperately hoped that it wasn't. The group couldn't really take anymore bad news at this point, not when everything had just started to get a bit better.
Looking back to Bonnie, Caroline simply shook her head. It didn't seem like they truly had all that much time to spend together. It sucked too, considering the two of them were her best friends in all the world. "Probably not, but still. We should make time" she said sullenly. When Elena and Jeremy appeared in the doorway, Caroline furrowed her brows to the siblings. With a worried look she took the note out of Elena's hands and held it in front of her and Bonnie so they could both read it at once. The second she'd finished reading it, she felt as if she'd been sucker punched in the stomach. Even though she didn't need to breathe she felt like she had no air inside of her. As if she was drowning and she couldn't lift herself out of the water...
Matt had left. He'd just up and left town without even saying goodbye to her. It seemed so out of his character that she couldn't help but wonder if it'd even been his own idea. It couldn't have been...something or someone must've made him leave. And even though she wanted to think this, she knew it wasn't true. There was nothing for him in Mystic Falls anymore. It'd seemed that he'd outgrown this town, and he'd left all of them behind. She loved him..she always would. The two had just been getting closer again and now he'd left her. Everyone in her life always seemed to leave her, no matter how deeply she felt for them...
Wide eyes looked up to her friends, tears welling behind her orbs. "How long ago did you find this? Maybe we can find him...Maybe he isn't gone yet" she said, basically pleading at this point. She refused to accept that he was gone forever. It couldn't be...she just refused to believe it. The tears began to fall from her face as she assumed she was part of the reason he'd left. He'd told her how he'd felt about her, and she'd chosen Dean...and now he was gone. Maybe if she'd done things differently he'd still be here...The note dropped right out of her hands and floated to the floor. All she could do was sob and stare at her friends. Lost, broken, confused.

---------------------- ---------------------- Jeremy all ready was fully aware of what the note had said, he had read it long before he had given it to Elena. He just couldn’t wait he had to know why someone he had been friends with forever was gone, he was more then a friend to Jer more like a brother. He always had done a good job looking out for Elena and him, always there when they needed him. But now from some add reason he was just gone with out word, he hoped that he was ok. He wondered what was so bad to the point it drew him out of mystic falls? Whatever it was it couldn’t be good, but then again when are things ever good.
He worried for his sister wondering how she was taking this right now, Matt and her were close they had been to what seemed like forever. “I came in to work today and the boss pulled me into the office, apparently he just left work for no reason at all.” Jeremy explained to his sister sounding lost. “So he let me go home to see if Matt was there, and when I got there I found this on the table. My boss is going to be mad I kind of just split and didn’t come back, but I don’t know if I could work knowing he isn’t coming back. Work or anything isn’t going to be the same, Elena we have to find him.” he said trying not to get upset.
One thing that did make Jeremy happy was Bonnie was there as well, he had not seen since there date they had. With how he was feeling he couldn’t help but to go over and put his arm around her, holding her close to him. He knew this had to be hard for her as well. Matt and her were close to, so he wondered if she was doing all right with this. Jeremy couldn’t help but look over at Caroline who looked lost and confused, it made him wonder if something had happened between the two of them. He knew that the two were trying to patch things up, but then again who knows Jeremy tires to stay out of that drama not really his thing. "What we going to do guys?" He asked everyone. - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She quickly picked the note up that Caroline had dropped and held it out to Bonnie for her to read. A part of her wanted to demand answers from Jeremy just as Caroline was doing, but there was another part of her that wanted to run after Matt herself. She knew that things hadn’t been easy for her former boyfriend but she hadn’t realized things had gotten this bad. She briefly thought about the last time she saw him and when she did her eyes shot up to Caroline in concern, though a part of her wanted to show the accusation that she felt.
Before she said anything she took the note back from Bonnie and re-read it. A few things stuck out to her. Things have gotten too intense in Mystic Falls. This seemed a weird way to word it if he was really concerned about the vampire, werewolf and hybrid population. No. this wasn’t what this statement was talking about…it was more than that. It was something different, something personal, and if she had to bet on it she had a feeling it had more to do with his love life than anything else. She had seen Caroline walking around a few days before hand with a guy that was definitely not Tyler or Matt but really didn’t think anything about it until now.
Figuring she would bring that particular thing up later she went back to looking at the letter. Don’t look for me, you won’t find me. Again, a weird phrase. How would Matt know that they would never find him? Even though he and Caroline had gotten especially close, she still felt like she knew Matt better than most simply because just like he said, they dated for a year and a half and were best friends since the park all those years ago. She knew him better than he knew himself half the time and this concerned her. Matt may know how to hide but he also knew how well she knew him.
Hopefully I’ll send word when I get wherever I am going. This was the last phrase that stood out to her. Almost as if he wasn’t sure he would be allowed to send word to let them know that he was alright. Which meant it wasn’t truly his idea to leave. Which didn’t make sense by his earlier part of the letter.
She came out of her thoughts when Caroline’s sobs broke through. She looked at her friend again and this time saw guilt in her eyes, which led her to believe that her first thought was more than just a little probable. “What do you know Caroline?” She asked, giving no hint of malice or anything of the like, simple curiosity. Hearing Jeremy’s question right after she turned to him. “I’m not sure what we’re going to do until we figure out exactly what happened.” She stated before turning back to her blonde friend. “Which brings me back to my question…what’s going on Care?”

-------------------------- -------------------------- “we will make them Caroline, don’t worry.” She just didn’t want them to try for something they could not accomplish, she would much rather they took the time to see what worked best for them. “maybe we could mix it up with Saturday night girl’s night in and Sunday brunch?” she proposed. Bonnie had always loved brunches and it would also give them time to talk about the many things that were going on in their lives most of the time. Because let’s face it, during the Saturday night in, they were more likely to act silly than have conversation. But apparently tonight was not going to be a silly night. Again something very wrong was happening into their lives and they would have to put the evening of girls’ aside.
Bonnie read the letter twice as if she was not believing what she had read the first time around. It didn’t make sense. Why would Matt just pick up and leave. She watched her friends trying to read their faces, they were all devastated of course. It was only normal none of them had been prepared for such a thing tonight. She looked over at Caroline who appeared to be on the verge of losing it. Did she knew something the rest of them didn’t. there was a long history between Matt and Caroline but as far as she knew Caroline was still dating that older guy, the friend of Jo.
“Even if he is gone he clearly can’t have gotten that far away that fast.” She pointed out thinking. Maybe she could do a spell? Maybe if she did it now, it would make things easier. The more time they lost the harder it would be to find him. Didn’t they say that when someone was missing, every minutes counted? She listened to Jeremy as he started to explain what had lead to the discovery of the letter. When he asked what they should do she was about to speak up, talk about the spell that she could do but Elena started to speak. She pressed herself into Jeremy’s embrace as she listen to her friends before turning her attention about to Caroline.
Bonnie didn’t want to have to put her friend on the spotlight like this but at the same time they needed to understand what had happened to Matt, what had went on to make him leave and maybe Caroline was the one that held the key to all of this. “it’s okay Care, you can tell us.” She told her friend wondering what she knew.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - The tears started flowing freely after a couple of moments of dry sobbing. They started to run down her cheeks and her neck, entering the lining of her pajamas. For a moment she fell lost in her thoughts. Unable to speak or react at the moment, she simply began to wonder why he'd left. Obviously she couldn't help but think that part of it was having to do with her. It just made sense considering the time line. She'd chosen Dean over him and right after, he'd left town. But the wording in the letter almost made her feel as he'd left against his own will? The letter just didn't seem like him, not at all, and she knew him very well. What in the hell had happened to him? She could only hope that he was okay. It was his hand writing, so she knew it hadn't been forged. She was so..confused.
Finally looking back up to Jeremy she simply shook her head, as if she didn't know what to do, as she didn't. Honestly her mind was in a whirlwind right now and wasn't in any state to formulate a plan. It wasn't long before she felt all eyes on her. Slowly she brought her own up to peer at them, and all three of them were simply staring at her. At Elena's question she simply shrugged, but clearly that wasn't a good enough response. One of her hands reached up to push her bangs back behind her ear, her hand nearly shaking. Rubbing at her eyes with the back of her palm she attempted to calm herself down at least enough to speak. She couldn't ignore them much longer before they all burned holes into her head.
Bonnie's words were comforting, and less accusatory than Elena's. It seemed that Elena felt as if Caroline had something to do with it too. Maybe she did, maybe she didn't, though she was pretty damn sure that she did. Taking in a deep and unnecessary breath (out of habit) she finally met their eyes. Glancing back and forth she attempted to keep eye contact with all of them. "I --- I don't know anything for sure" she said softly, forcing herself not to cry again. "Okay I'm just going to say it" she said, standing up from the couch.
Beginning to pace back and forth between in front of the television and in front of the couch, she avoided eye contact with all of them for a moment. "A couple weeks ago, Matt and I slept together. It was careless...an impulse, and he still loved me, and he told me that. And I --- well I still love him obviously, but I'm with Dean now...Someone new, and well --- I think he was really hurt. I don't know if that's why he left...but --- that's all I know" she said, glad in that moment she didn't need to breathe. With this she finally looked back up to all of her friends, silently preparing herself for the judgement she was about to face.

---------------------- ---------------------- Jeremy could tell by the way she had taken the note back from Bonnie she was lost, trying to understand why he had left all the sudden. It didn’t make sense really why Matt would just leave them all with out saying anything, someone had to of forced him to leave or something had to of happened. The way the note was worded just seemed weird. Jeremy had been hanging with Matt a lot lately and nothing about him seemed strange, or seemed like he was unhappy. It could have been that he sacred and needed a reason to leave. Jeremy was pretty sure that if he would have made any enemies with anyone he would have let them all know.
He wondered if Caroline had anything to do with it, it just seemed like by the way she was crying she knew something. Maybe they had a fight Jeremy wondered? But Matt hadn’t mentioned anything about them fighting, but he also wasn’t really one to talk about his love life with people. He did know that Matt really didn’t like how everyone in this town; was Supernatural in one way or another. Caroline was a vampire, Bonnie is a witch, Tyler is a werewolf, Elena is a doppelganger, and Jeremy can see ghosts. Plus the town was pretty much over run with it. Everyone of his friends were connected to the supernatural in one way or another, and Matt he was just well Matt. So maybe that had something to do with him leaving, maybe he got tired of it.
Caroline begin to tell them something, it seemed as though she might have known some reason to him leaving. Her pacing back and forth was a dead give away that she knew something. Plus she was trying not to look at any of them, not making eye contact was a dead give away for something. It seemed as though she was with someone new even after trying to patch things up with Matt, which could have been enough to hurt him. Maybe even enough to leave, Jeremy does know how much he care of her. After she expanded herself he knew he had to get his thoughts in before his sister did, he knew after what she told them she had to be pissed. “Wait after being with Matt you go and get with someone else, Caroline You do realize that man loves you more then anything right? I mean come on… he” He stopped himself knowing it wasn’t helping, he was just mad because one of his best friends was now gone and for what. “You know what I got nothing else to say, I just want to find where he is make sure he is safe.” Jeremy stood close to Bonnie thinking of what there next move was going to be. - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She was glad that it seemed that Bonnie was behind her on wondering what exactly had gone on with Matt and also to think that Caroline might have the answers. She didn’t want to push her friend but they really needed answers that it seemed only Caroline had. She had known things were tense between her two friends but she hadn’t realized that they had escalated to the point of making Matt leave Mystic Falls. Unfortunately this didn’t come as that much of a shock to her since if she thought about it, other than her friends who did he have to stay for? His sister had been killed and his mother was pretty much a dead beat mom. He could do so much that staying in Mystic Falls had to look less and less appealing every day.
That didn’t mean that she wasn’t concerned though. She loved Matt and had for years. It wasn’t the way that she had once loved him but she still did care for him more than she could express and to know that he felt like he had no reason to stay bothered her. She made an internal vow to find him and at least to make sure that he was safe. She wouldn’t force him to come home because that wasn’t her business, but she would make sure that he was safe and happy.
Hearing that Caroline and Matt had slept together started to put a few things into place for her. She remembered when Matt had started talking to her at the tomb a couple days before hand and then when Caroline had come in how there had been tension there that wasn’t usually. Sure there had been a bit of awkwardness around since Matt and Caroline had broken up and she had been with Tyler but it seemed to fade away over time. However that day there had been a great deal of discomfort and she hadn’t been able to deduce why…until then. “So that day at the tomb…that was the first time you two had seen each other since then I’m assuming?” She asked, briefly wondering if she would tell her the truth or not.
She didn’t blame Jeremy when he spoke for being upset…as she was to. She didn’t feel that it was right for what Caroline had done, especially since it wasn’t the first time. She chose Tyler over Matt (granted it was after Matt had decided that he couldn’t handle being with a vampire but still), then after Tyler leaves she sleeps with Matt and then gets with this Dean guy? Yeah she wasn’t impressed with her friend’s decisions however that wasn’t the point. Matt was gone. Maybe had she known about all this before he left she would have gotten involved, but screaming at Caroline for acting heartless wasn’t going to do any of them any good now. “Jer, Chill.” She stated simply, shooting him a look that clearly said they would talk about it later.
“Alright, here’s what we are going to do. Jeremy go get your stuff from Matt’s and go home. You can’t stay there any longer since the owner of the house is gone. I don’t know if that means vampires can’t get in but if they can you sure as hell won’t be there. Lexi went to stay at the boarding house so it’s just you and me now.” She told him before turning to Bonnie and Caroline. “Care, when your mom gets home let her know that Matt is missing.” She ordered before taking out her cell phone and taking a couple quick pictures of the note Matt left and sending them to each of them. “Give the original note to your mom in case she can figure anything out of it. Bonnie is there any way you can come back to the house with Jer after he gets his stuff and try and do a locator spell to find him?” She asked, hoping it would suffice.
She needed to know her friend was okay, that was the most important thing. She also needed to warn Lexi and Stefan that Jeremy was coming home thus they had to go to the boarding house.

-------------------------- -------------------------- If Caroline knew something that they didn’t she needed to tell them but since Elena had kind of taken the bad cop part, Bonnie felt into the good cop part without even thinking about it. They all wanted to know where Matt was and if Caroline had anything they could use Bonnie wanted in on it. If she was going to use her magic for this, she needed to know what she was up against. The last thing she wanted was to end up hurting herself or someone around her. She was not even sure if she was strong enough to do it and if she was unable to then what?
But Caroline spoke again and well this was enough to bring Bonnie back from the thoughts she was having. Oh wow well that would explain why Matt felt the need to leave but still she had trouble understanding that he had left. She could understand the reasoning behind it but at the same time it didn’t really sound like something matt would do. Bonnie looked at Jeremy as he started to speak and put a hand on him to try and calm him down. “it’s okay.” She said softly though if she was saying to Caroline or to Jeremy remain a mystery. Of course she was judging her friend right now. How could she not judge her after what had just happened. But she would keep her thoughts to herself. she knew that it would not bring anything good to the situation.
Bonnie was thankful that apparently Elena had the situation more or less under control and that they actually had a plan. Bonnie nodded. “Yeah I should be able to do it. I just hope that it will be enough.” She added quickly she would never be able to forgive herself if she could not do. “Jer I’ll go to my place to pick a few things up and meet you at the house, okay?” she asked looking at her boyfriend then back at Caroline and then at Elena. “what are you going to do?” she asked her friend hoping that she was not about to get herself into trouble the last thing she wanted was to have to also lose Elena right now. A part of Bonnie wondered if perhaps Matt had actually left on his own or if perhaps he had been forced to leave. Stranger things had happened before. “Care are you okay with staying here?” she asked her blonde friend she knew that Caroline was rather shaken up right now and she didn’t want to leave her friend alone to deal with these things. notes: outfit:[a href=" [http://www.polyvore.com/girl_interrupted/set?id=61947293]Click here"] [http://www.polyvore.com/girl_interrupted/set?id=61947293]Click here

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - Even before Jeremy’s mouth had opened Caroline had known what he was going to say. After all he had been getting rather close with Matt lately. Hell they’d even been staying together, and they worked together too. Add that with the fact that they went to the same high school and it didn’t take a genius to figure out that they’d become best friends of sort. However the words still cut her kind of deep as he laid her out, basically making her feel even more horrible than she already did. Looking away from Jeremy, tears still falling, she looked down to the ground at her slippers. ”I know” she said simply. There wasn’t much else she could say, after all. She could apologize but it wouldn’t make Matt come back, it wouldn’t make things better. The person she really needed to apologize to had up and left town.
Without even raising her head, she still let it hang, still looking at her feet. She did however nod to Elena’s question to at least show that she was able to understand actual words. Her mind was in a jumble, her heart felt heavy, and she was a crying mess. All of this…it was her fault. Only hers, and she knew it. Thankfully enough Elena showed her a form of mercy and asked Jeremy to stop berating her. It wasn’t that she didn’t deserve to be berated. She did and she knew that, and accepted it, but Elena was right; it wasn’t going to help a damn thing. Yelling at each other wasn’t going to bring him back just as her apologizing wasn’t. He was gone, now they just had to figure out what to do about it. Even still, her tears slipped down her cheeks and padded onto her slippers. The normally lighter black velvet darkened, and she kept her eyes on them, unable to look away.
The second Elena started to throw orders out, Caroline looked up to take the note from her. Again she only nodded. It was hard to speak, it felt like her voice was caught in her throat. Thankfully enough everyone seemed to be done yelling and they’d actually managed to formulate a plan. It was a sign of mercy that they hadn’t interrogated her even further and she couldn’t thank them enough for that. There would definitely be a conversation later about the whole situation but for now, she was glad to have something to focus on.
”I’ll be fine, Bonnie” she said simply, her nose sniffling as she managed to choke out a voice. The note in hand she brought her eyes to move back and forth between the other three of them. ”Everyone keep each other updated, by phone or text, okay? I’ll let you all know what my mom says…” Wow…she’d been able to formulate not one, but two sentences. She was amazed. ”Talk soon” she added simply, heading towards the door. The silence she’d experience after they all left wouldn’t do her much good, but she needed to think. Hopefully they’d find Matt soon..she needed to know that he was okay. If he got hurt and it was because of her, she’d die.

---------------------- ---------------------- Jeremy felt bad for speaking up like that to her as she was sitting there crying, he wasn’t one to get into fights with his friends especially Caroline. She never really had giving a reason to be pissed at her until now. Jeremy knew how much Matt cared for her, he had told him before that he hated that they weren’t together. So for Caroline to say she was with someone new, then all the sudden Matt is gone had him a little uneasy. He knew it had to play a part in him being gone. But Jeremy knew he did need ease up, even Elena and Bonnie were both telling him till chill. “Elena sorry I just don’t know what we are going to do, this isn’t like Matt at all to up and leave.” He told her. He then held Bonnie hand tightly, and when he did things seemed to seem a whole lot better. She always had her own little ways in keeping him calm.
He listened as his sister explained what he needed to do, it seemed as though she wanted him to go back to Matt’s and get his stuff to come home. He never really though about the fact that vampires could get in now, really it was the last thing to ever come to his mind. It made sense though seeing that the owner was gone. But he was happy about getting to come home, he really did miss being there with Elena. On top of that he really didn’t like being away from her, not knowing if she is safe or not. Even though he is pretty sure Lexi did a fine job keeping her safe. “Ok I’m on it! He then turned to Bonnie as she told him that she would meet him there later after she got some stuff. “Ok that sounds great I will meet you there then babe.” He then gave her a small kiss on the cheek before leaving. “See you later guys.” He then looked over at Caroline as she was crying, he couldn’t help but feel bad. “Bye Caroline don’t worry we will find him.”
Jeremy was then out the door getting in his car, he was off to go get some of his stuff. He couldn’t lie this wasn’t going to be easy having to pack up, because as much as he did want to come home he really was enjoying spending some guy time with Matt. It worries him wondering if that will ever happened again? He really hoped that wherever he was out there he was ok, he all ready has enough people from his life all ready.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She felt a pang of guilt as she ordered everyone around, especially since she had essentially forced Caroline to stay by herself. Unfortunately there was nothing that anyone could do about it. She had to call Lexi and Stefan and get them to vacate her house before Jeremy got home since no one was supposed to know about Stefan being there in the first place. She also needed to make sure that Jeremy was safe and in a house where there was no real ‘owner’ was not what she called safe. Also she needed Bonnie to try and figure out where Matt was. There was nothing she could do about it.
She nodded in relief when Caroline said she would be okay. She didn’t truly believe her but there was nothing she could do about it now. Walking over she quickly hugged the blonde fiercely before pulling away and looking her dead in the eye. “We will find him.” She stated. “However I cannot promise that we will bring him back. I won’t force him to come back and I won’t allow anyone else to either.” She stated, knowing that everyone in the room understood why she was so against this. She had allowed Damon to compel Jeremy twice in recent past and she refused to do so again. Nor would she take away anyone else’s right to choose what they wanted for themselves.
She had seen the damage this could do.
After nodding at her brother and giving Bonnie a quick hug she herself walked out the door, dialing her phone as she did however she waited until she was far enough away from Caroline’s house before pushing talk. Lexi answered the phone and it didn’t take long for her to explain what happened. She whispered a quick thanks to Lexi as she promised to get her and Stefan to the boarding house before hanging up, sliding her phone into her pocket. She didn’t want to go home yet, needing to check one more place. She drove quickly Wickery bridge and stopped in the parking lot right along side of it. Walking to a bench she noted a piece of paper wedged in between the bar and the seat. She hadn’t been wrong in her hunch.
Lena, Something isn’t right. I’ll keep you updated. Be safe
She sighed as she read the note. It was short but she understood. He didn’t leave on his own…but he left by himself. She couldn’t think who would want him out of the way but she made a vow to him to find out. She would just have to do it alone.
