Exploring the town was a good idea for a while but after being in the town so long and doing things alone it just gets a little boring. With a huff she headed to book and CD store, they were bound to have SOMETHING good there to read or to listen to.
Walking down the street Dawn noticed that there were not as many people out and about as usual, which of course struck her fancy because she found it slightly odd. Trying not to notice she continued on her way. Dawn was determined to have a 'her' day with no creepers or monsters or anything out of the ordinary, for once in her life she wanted SOMETHING to be 'normal' even if it meant just taking a seat in a squishy chair and reading all day.
Pulling her hair back into a messy bun she turned a corner and was at the store before she even realized it. With a confident smile she reached out and pulled open the door. Walking in it was quiet with soft background music playing in the speakers above every ones head. Dawn loved this place, there weren't many people and it was always quiet which was nice when you wanted some time to clear your thoughts or to read a book.
Dawn walked down, past all the shelves her hand running over the spines of each book as she passed. The smell was so significant it over whelmed her. Each breath made her feel even more relaxed than the one before. Stopped she reached down to the second to the bottom shelf where a big fat old dusty book sat. It looked as if it were older fairy tales or something. Interested she grasped it in both hands and walked over to a couple chairs that were sitting next to a corner table and a small antique lamp. Sitting down she opened the book "Once Upon A Time..." the words left her mouth in an almost silent breath.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -He sighed as he walked through the door. He was completely running late and he hated it. He knew that most men his age always thought that they were king of the world and no one would bother them, especially ones that were attractive like he knew he was. He wasn’t arrogant by any stretch of the imagination, but he wasn’t stupid either. He saw the way girls (And guys….especially AJ) looked at him, so he knew that he was considered an attractive man. It didn’t matter to him, but that is the way that life worked…especially in today’s society. It seemed as if the only thing that mattered to anyone (especially those in his age bracket) were looks and money. He had both, but didn’t flaunt either.
He looked around for the book he needed, though didn’t see it anywhere on first sight. That was no surprise as the book he needed was tiny. He loved to read but with Lilly-Anne, and of course AJ who most of the time acted Lilly-Anne’s age or worse, he never really had the time. However luckily he had an excuse this time as it was for school and Lilly-Anne didn’t want her daddy to fail school (or at least that’s what he kept telling her that she needed to say) so he was able to sit down while AJ watched her (god help everyone).
Unfortunately he didn’t watch where he was going as he finally found the book. He reached up and grabbed it before turning around and bumping into someone soft. “Oh god, I’m so sorry.” He told her, trying to make sure she was okay. He groaned at his luck…she was gorgeous too. Chase held up his book to show why he had almost knocked her over. “I needed the last copy for class…sorry once again.” He told her, smiling his crooked smile to show that he really was sorry. He hoped he didn’t get screamed at…he already had a headache.
He shifted from foot to foot nervously. He usually was confident, but something about this made him nervous. Granted, he knew he could protect himself….so that wasn’t the concern…but something about her screamed power…and that made him nervous. He knew she wasn’t a vampire though as he didn’t see any jewelry (though he hadn’t really studied it yet) and it was sunny out…but that didn’t mean she wasn’t something else…and he wanted to know what.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Dawn stumbled backwards and dropped her book. She was surprised. Looking up at him she gave a small smile to show she wasn't mad or anything "Oh it's no big deal." she gave a small shrug and bent over and grabbed her story book. Dusting the cover off she wrapped it under one arm.
Adjusting herself she looked back up at him and held her hand out "I'm Dawn, and your are?" Dawn was a rather outgoing person so meeting new people was not a nervous thing for her, at least not anymore. She is use to seeing all sorts of people since she has been moving around. She use to be shy and quiet but working with her sister and doing what they do being shy is something that is hard to do. Moving on she began to study him, there was something about it. She couldn't place her finger on it but he wasn't normal. He wasn't like a vampire but he wasn't normal either.
Shaking that off she just smiled at him while he introduced himself as well. "So what are you studying?" She asked as she glanced at his book that was covered by his hands. Dawn liked how he put school first. Dawn hadn't had the chance to go to an actual school, the only school she knew was the one the monks put in her memories and the slayer school which, by the title was a different kind of school of course but it also gave real classes that way kids could go to it and fool the parents.
Dawn hoped she wasn't rambling on, she tends to just talk and talk and talk. It was a bad habit but it was something she just had to get use to. Sometimes it scared people away but that never bothered Dawn. Dawn fixed her hair as she tried not to talk so much.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -He took his first change to check out the girl’s appearance after making sure she was alright. She was beautiful, he would definitely admit that. She had brown silky hair and held an air of maturity about her, though she couldn’t be any older than him, though maybe a year or so. She looked like someone who had seen too much yet still retained her innocence and youth. He heard her introduce herself and smiled his crooked smile. Dawn he thought to himself…it suited her. He wasn’t sure why, and usually he wasn’t all sappy and saying things like ‘it suited her’ but it did. Damn, it apparently had been a long time since he had had a girlfriend if he was getting all sappy. Granted, he didn’t need another girl in his life other than his beautiful daughter, but that was beside the point.
“I’m Chase.” He smiled, shaking her head. He noted how small it seemed, and smiled at her again. “Eh, unfortunately this is for high school English.” He told her wincing. “It seems wrong somehow that I’m stuck in high school. Well, in all high school. At my old school, before I moved here, I was in all college classes that were designed for those who had tested out of their high school classes. Unfortunately they don’t offer those here in Mystic so I’m stuck going to high school for at least a semester before I can take any college entrance tests and try to get in.” He rambled before rolling his eyes at himself. “Wow, I’m probably the single dullest person on the planet apparently.” He told her, laughing lamely at his joke.
“Anyway, what brings you to Mystic Falls? I haven’t seen you around.” He told her, hoping he could get to know her a little better. He saw out of the corner of his eye a Hannah Montana song book that he knew his child would adore and grabbed it up, still making sure to keep his attention on Dawn while also grabbing A Winnie the Pooh book as well. His child needed some culture in her life that didn’t revolve around the young singer, and he would definitely do all that he could to help her get it.
He waited for Dawn to answer when he felt a tug at his jeans. He looked down and saw Tyler, a boy that Lilly-Anne had met in the park a few days prior. Hi Mr. Chase. Where’s Lilly-Anne? Chase smiled and crouched down. “Hey Bud. She’s with her aunt and uncle right now but we’ll be at the park tomorrow if your there okay?” He asked and grinned when the little boy cheered and ran back to his mom. He stood up and smiled apologetically at Dawn. “Sorry about that.” He told her. “I met him the other day with my daughter and his mom. He apparently has developed a crush on my kid, which means of course she’ll never be coming out of her room again but eh, what can you do.” He told her, laughing a bit at how ridiculous he was.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Chase was a looker, her was tall and looked rather fit. Dawn really liked his eyes but she wouldn't admit it. She just met the guy and that wasn't normally the kind of stuff you just blurt out to a random stranger whom you just met not even five minutes ago. She didn't want to scare him off either so it was probably best she just didn't say anything at all. Turning her gaze off of his body and eyes she tried to focus on other things around them, glancing at him a couple times to show that she was still interested in talking.
"It's nice to meet you" his hands were much bigger than hers, but that was no surprise. She was a tiny person in general and he was much larger than her as well. Dawn had to just about look up in order to see his face but she kind of liked that. Tall guys always caught her fancy. Dawn never really dated she was too busy most of the time with the slayers and the school and helping her sister, there just never really was a whole lot open for her. The one boyfriend she did have tried to turn her into a boyfriend and well she was not okay with that. "Would you like to sit down maybe?" She wasn't really sure if asking him to sit with her would be right since they did just meet and she didn't know if he had other plans or something, but she thought she would give it a try anyways.
Dawn kind of laughed at his joke, "Now I do find that hard to believe." Chase didn't seem like the kind of guy to lead a boring life, maybe not a party every night kind of guy but definitely not boring. He gave off that vibe of being the life of the party or something. Dawn didn't really know him so she couldn't jump to conclusions right off the bat.
Dawn wasn't really sure how to answer his question, she couldn't just tell him 'Oh I'm here to kill off vampires and the occasional demons, help my sister run a slayer school and some experiments.' That wasn't happening taking a breath she bit her lip a little. Dawn wasn't the greatest liar she never really needed to lie, those she was close with all knew what she did, heck they helped. Dawn never really had anyone as a friend out side of the slaying, it was different. "I'm on vacation, with my sister and some friends." Dawn gave a reassuring smile. it was a good thing he didn't know her or he would be able to tell she wasn't telling the full truth. Quickly changing the subject off of her and on to him. "So why did you move here?" As Dawn asked him that she watched him grab kid books. Dawn thought it was rather odd and she was going to ask him why he was doing that a little boy ran up to him. Than everything made sense.
"Oh you have a daughter? Thats is really cool." Dawn wasn't lieing, she loved kids. Never had any or anything but they were always fun. Dawn laughed, of course. It was the typical father gene of being protective and way over rated. Dawn of course didn't TRUELY know what it was like to have a father but TV shows and movies always showed this. It was cute to actually find someone who was like that. "How old is your daughter?" Dawn was curious and wanted to find out more about Chase and his life. He was the first person out side her circle she has talked to in a long time, no thanks to a busy schedule.
Word Count: 630 Tag: Chase Wyatt Outfit: Just Something Simple Note: Hehe. I think they would be cute together! OH I have a good plot thing, since Dawn is kind of like a slayer, well a helper haha and he is also different they could end up in a fight together, like on the same team and both have to kind of explain themselves which could bring them closer or something. Maybe haha just an idea XD (I think Dawn likes him to by the way) • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -He grinned at the woman in front of him and nodded, sitting down in a chair that was directly next to a small table with another chair on the other side. “Oh trust me, ask anyone that knows me…they’ll know I’m fairly lame sometimes. My life consists of the following: school, spending time with my daughter, taking care of my daughter, taking care of AJ (Who is either my best friend or major annoyance depending on the day), and apparently trying to charm pretty brunettes in coffee houses.” He told her, winking at her for emphasis with a grin plastered on his face.
“You’re on a vacation in Mystic Falls? God that has to be a boring vacation.” He told her, laughing. “I mean the history of this place is fairly cool and all but other than that it’s pretty dull. Mystic Falls needs a theme park or something…maybe something with a water slide. Anything. Sorry, I tend to ramble and I apparently am a large child as well.” He told her, laughing at himself once more. That was one thing about him, he knew when he was being lame and would just simply laugh at himself…he didn’t really let it get to him.
“I moved here because…” he trailed off, wondering whether to tell her the truth before shrugging and figuring ‘why the hell not’. “Originally I had gone to a boarding school. My mother took care of my daughter, Lilly-Anne, during the time I was at school and I would go home every other weekend if I could to see her. My brother and my sister in law showed up at my school one day with my child who looked like a different one than I had seen last. It was finals at St. James Academy where I was attending school and it went on for a whole month, meaning I hadn’t seen Lilly-Anne in almost two months. They had found her (Alice and Sean, my sister in law and my brother) duct taped to her car seat in the car. She had been left there for I have no idea how long. They immediately got her out and brought her straight to me, where she wouldn’t let me out of her sight for months afterward. I ended up dropping out of St. James Academy to look after my daughter and to also go through the court system to make sure my mother had no claim on my child. After the trials were over and such my brother and sister in law wanted to move here, so I came with them.” He finished. “My daughter is 3 ½….I’m 17, almost 18. Though there are days that I feel like I’m 102, and then there are days that I feel like my brain capacity has hit rock bottom and I’ve reverted back to childhood. What about you? How old are you?” He asked, trying to change the subject.
He hated thinking about what his little girl went through, but had no choice sometimes. He hoped he hadn’t scared her off but knew that anyone that he had the potential of being in a relationship with needed to know the deal first. Lilly-Anne could be a brat sometimes, especially around new people, but she had her reasons. Lilly-Anne didn’t want to lose her daddy and she had nightmares sometimes of having to go back to grandma’s house and being tied up again…it was one of the reasons while yes, he did discipline his child when she misbehaved around strangers, that he could never really be mad at her for it. She had her reasons, and they were valid in his opinion…he just hoped that sooner or later she would be able to deal with them more rationally than temper tantrums…but he would have to wait and see.

Lol. Anyway, I love your plot idea. Maybe it could be a larger thread where they meet? Like have Dawn patrolling with Buffy (maybe even Willow) while Chase (and maybe AJ---a vampire that Chase is best buds with) can be out doing something and there’s a fight and they run into each other? Thus letting the whole group meet? Or it can be just the two of them…I’m open to whatever!

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Dawn laughed a little. She still didn't believe him about having a boring life "I have been around enough kids to know they keep you on your feet at all times, so there is no way your life is THAT boring. Don't you have friends you hang out with?" She looked at him, her light icy blue eyes catching his own eyes. He was hypnotizing and she didn't really know why. She knew he was different but that was all she knew really. He didn't have that deathly presence a vampire sometimes gave off so she didn't think he was one plus it was light out, so what was he.
Dawn wasn't really sure how to respond to the vacation topic, she knew it was a lie, there was a better reason for her to be here but that was something she was not allowed to share with those who lived here, people were already suspicious enough, she didn't need to give them a reason to go all psycho and rampage the town. Buffy wouldn't be happy if that happened. Thinking quickly she responded with yet another lie "I know this place may seem boring but there are some really good sites to see, like the water fall, and not to mention the guys" she winked at him. She was talking about Chase, she bit her lip slightly. It was a habit she had for as long as she could remember. She did it a lot when she flirted or when she got nervous, most of the time both. Dawn wasn't the greatest at flirting but she still tried.
Dawn was taken back by what had happened to his daughter, it was a terrible thing for a three year old to have to deal with, especially from her own grandmother. Dawn wasn't really sure how to respond to that. It almost made her mad. "How could someone do that to a little girl? Let alone to a little one of their own blood!?!" Dawn placed her book on the corner table. This was just something that she couldn't wrap her mind around, she knew of horrible people, but most of them were demons, and vampires, and evil creatures not humans. Dawn sighed. It was just the way the world was, something Dawn hoped to fix one day with her friends and family. She knew he was changing the subject and she could understand why, so she went along with it. "I can understand that. Sometimes I am the same way, there are just those days were I feel super old and others younger than I should act" Dawn laughed a little. With slaying with her sister that took a lot out of her, and when she is stuck in the same place too long she got a little too much unwanted energy.
"I just turned nineteen actually." Dawn was older than him yes, but that didn't change anything. To her age was just a number. She hoped that her being older than Chase wouldn't change anything with him either. Yes they just met but there was a spark there, at least Dawn thought there was. Dawn got a little nervous, she began to play with her hair. She twisted it in her fingers making her already wavy hair more wavy. Dawn put her hands in her lap, trying not to show that she was nervous or anything, taking a breath she looked at him and smiled.
Word Count: 576 Tag: Chase Wyatt Outfit: Just Something Simple Note: Yeah that would be fun, I like the group idea that way there is more fun and more ideas thrown into it. Maybe if AJ is there in the midst of the fight Dawn could tackle him and try to stake him, if he showed that he was a vampire. chase could yank her off, that could cause some tension and suspense. Than after them meeting and everything the secrets are out. Dawn having to have a big explanation for why she really is here and what she truly does and all that. It would be a lot of fun!! But where would it be at? Extra note: So I put her age as 20, but I found this thing saying she is only like 19. I am gonna see if I can get it changed to that because I like it better and it feels right. • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -He smiled laughed at her comment about children. “Lilly-Anne is definitely insane most of the time. I swear I have no idea where she got all her energy from. Sometimes I feel like there are five of them running around with the way I feel going to bed sometimes.” He told her, laughing a bit. It was true though, that child could run around all day long and still fight him on going to bed stating that she wasn’t tired. He was 17 years old and there were days that he felt like an old man because of how tired he was at night. He had no idea how men twice his age did this with more than one child in the house. It was an exhausting thing to even think about.
Chase shook his head and shrugged, still slightly blushing about her comment about the guys being cute. “I have no idea. My dad left her a few months prior to and she said she was alright but apparently she just snapped. DFS was notified so luckily she can’t foster a child or anything like that, but because of DFS being notified there is a file on my child which means a lot of paper work and random visits for me to make sure she’s taken care of. It’s a bit insulting since my child is my world, but unfortunately that’s how it has to be in order to be allowed to be able to keep my daughter.” He rambled on before changing the subject. He hated the topic of what his mother had done to Lilly-Anne and it still tended to bring up very hostile feelings towards her. He’d never hit a woman, he wasn’t raised that way, but it was the one instance, the day he saw Lilly-Anne in his brother’s arms, more lifeless than he’d ever seen, that he’d seriously considered pretending his morals didn’t matter at that moment.
He grinned when he heard Dawn comment about acting younger and feeling older on certain days…though didn’t respond to it. Sometimes he felt his age, other days he felt like an old man, and other days he felt like he was 12….it all just depended on the day and what had happened on said day.
His eyes widened a bit when he heard that she had just turned twenty. She didn’t look it, but then again he didn’t look almost 18 either. He had passed for a 26 year old before. He groaned when he felt his pocket vibrate and saw a text message from Alice telling him he was late. He sighed before looking up at Dawn. “I’m so sorry, I have to go. My sister in law is watching my kid and apparently I’m late.” He told her, laughing a bit at how carried away he had gotten. “However I’d really like to get to know you better. Do you mind if I call you sometime and we can hang out?” He asked, sounding like such a dweeb and at that moment not caring.

• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Dawn didn't really have much to say at that point. She had never been a mother, so she didn't really know all that Chase was going through. It must have been hard to see what his child went through but that was something she would never know or understand. She smiled at him as he rambled on though, it was something she did a lot when she talked to people as well. It was a bad habit to break that was for sure.
"Well it does sound like you got your work cut out for you" Dawn laughed a little. Grabbing her book off the table she set it in her lap, it was a silly book really, it was a bunch of fairy tales but Dawn did love them, even though she never believed anyone would live happily ever after. At least not from what she has been through. She has had a hard life with getting taken, almost killed, opening a portal to dimensions, living through her families deaths. A lot of tragic things in her life so to read a story with happy endings was always nice even if it gave false hope. Dawn couldn't help but love them.
As Chase answered his phone and found out that he was running late, Dawn smiled as she stood up. She couldn't help but let out a small girly giggle, he was being very cute and of course she would give him her number, how could anyone say no to that. "Sure I would love to get together again sometime" she wrote on a piece of paper and gave Chase her number. It would be fun to get together again with Chase, maybe learn a little more about him, and if they became friends maybe she could meet his daughter. Dawn was always good with kids. "I am free anytime during the day, maybe we can get together have some coffee, or go to the park if you wanted to bring your daughter." Dawn couldn't really tell him about her nights because they were usually spent with Buffy out hunting for those creatures of darkness. Day time was always a safer way to go, especially if you didn't want the almost not so secret, secret out.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -He grinned at the beautiful girl in front of him. He had never really been attracted to anyone like he was to her. She had beautiful brown hair and these crystal blue eyes. She looked like a goddess in his mind, and yes, he knew how many man points he was losing by saying that. He really didn’t care. She was someone gentle it seemed someone that after awhile he could introduce to his child. He smiled a geeky smile when he received her number and immediately pocketed it before stealing her pen away quickly and writing his down on the back of a napkin. “In case you want to call me.” He told her shyly, handing her the number and her pen back.
“Good thing your available during the day, as night times tend to get a bit crazy for me finding a babysitter. Lilly-Anne isn’t the most…easy child to put to bed…so no one likes to volunteer to do it.” He told her, laughing a bit at his words. It was definitely true though, that little one would fight hell and high water in order to not go to bed, and she had a hard time staying asleep, so bed times were not fun times for him, let alone for babysitters. “Coffee sounds good.” He told her, grinning. “I’d bring Lilly-Anne, but she…” He trailed off, thinking how to explain it right. “After everything that happened with her grandmother, she isn’t too good with letting daddy have other friends. It takes her a while to warm up so I usually don’t introduce her to people right off the bat if I can help it…I like to ease her into things if that makes sense.” He told her, smiling apologetically before standing up.
“Alright Ms. Dawn well I have to get going, have to go tame the wild monster known as my kid…but you’ll definitely be getting a phone call from me soon.” He told her, picking up her hand and kissing the back of it before winking and heading out the door of the bookstore, whistling once he reached his car.
Maybe this was the start of something new.
