Madison Mackenzey Compassion Saxon looked at Spike when he asked about Gabriel taking over a vessel. She waited for him to stop talking. She was about to say something when he said that he might be jumping to conclusions. She nodded. She wasn’t annoyed or anything because she never told him about the vessels and how angels walk on earth. “how do you think I am able to spot them?” Maddie laughed and she then continued “they arent like demons at all. Demons take, angels ask. Angels have vessels, humans born with the ability to have an angel possess them. Angels ask a person if they could possess them, and they agree, fine, angel, body, body angel. If they say no, angel leaves them alone. They can not enter a body if they arent invited to. Kind of like vampires and houses really, but not. Angels need a definite yes, the person has to say the word yes once they are asked.” Maddie said to him. “and with that they keep the person inside the vessel alive longer. Body doesn’t age. Gabriel has had his for centuries, millenniums, even, and the vessel still hasn’t said no, get out. Then they have to leave.” Maddie then said, hoping that would change the view on angels possessing people a bit clearer for him. “possession isnt done against the will of the vessel.” Maddie finished.
Maddie laughed at Spike. “my pleasure.” She replied. “he can take jokes you know. He dishes and he can take. He’s a sucker for pranks. April fools day to him is like Christmas to a child.” Maddie laughed a little. She listened to him to say that she had given in and its been revoked. “oh well, fine with me, then. Wanna hear something funny though? When I first met you and came home the accent came back, I pick up accents where ever I go. Special talent of mine. I can talk like a Canadian too.” Maddie laughed, knowing that he was joking with her. It was nice to have a friend like him, someone other than her cousins or Gabriel. She wasn’t really all that sociable. She just stuck with her visions and recording them. She wondered if it was because of high school, how she never had friends because she was the weird girl with the migraines, which havent gone away at all.
Maddie nodded to him. “archangels have the ability to warp reality to their need. Gabriel just uses it for unconventional needs though. Though the smartest thing that he has ever done was switch out his real blade for a fake one he made out of a soda can. Then Kali stabbed him with the fake one, he faked his death, again.” Maddie said to him then looked at him oddly when he asked if he could change people. “why do you ask?” she then asked wondering what he could mean by it. She knew what he meant. “he wont do it, if I’m thinking what your thinking.” Maddie said to him before saying “I mean you can ask, but I don’t think he would. He may be lacking in the head a little, in certain areas, but he doesn’t mess with timelines or what a person is.” Maddie could only wonder how Spike feels, the longing for the touch of the sun, to have warm skin, the whole human package. It didn’t hurt to ask though. Gabriel may feel bad for him because it wasn’t his fault that he was a vampire, but nothing bad to happen to a person was always their fault. Maddie didn’t ask to be born to an ass hole who turned into a demon. She didn’t ask to be a prophet, she was chosen for that. It was just something that everyone had to deal with. Maybe she could ask for him. It was the least she could do. He wouldn’t turn him for good, maybe for a day or two, though if Maddie was a vampire she wouldn’t even want that. It would be up to him though. Gabriel wouldn’t do it unless he wanted it. Even though Gabriel came off as a horrible, inconsiderate angel at times, he really did have a good heart.
Maddie looked up from the counter when he told her it was alright, that she saw Buffy’s life not his. “nah, I should have known anyway. ” Maddie responded with a shrug. He had told her that he had slept on worse than a couch and she just decided that she wouldn’t even respond to that full knowing what went on between him and the slayer. No, she changed her mind. “yeah, chained to a bathtub?” She asked with a smirk on her face.
“beginning always works, well it does for me anyway.” Maddie replied as she led him up to the guest room. “but in the end does anyone know where to start when they have a problem?” Maddie then asked him.
Madison turned the light on and it shone on a double bed against one wall, shades over a window and a chair next to the window on another and a closet across the room from the wall with the bed and a large TV on a stand with an X-Box facing the bed. “its not much. We really don’t get guests here often, if not at all.” She just shrugged moving out of the door way into the room.

”Oh. Well, that is different then.” The vampire’s brow furrowed a bit more in thought. After all, he had spent a certain amount of time as a ghost-type thing. Having a body, being able to touch the world—he understood how much that actually mattered. He had even spent several seconds possessing a dead body of a necromancer once, and even then, he relished being able to punch Angel in the face a few times before the man’s head was separated from his body. And when he got his own body back, well, he treated himself to a glut of physical pleasures, ”I suppose the person doesn’t get to come out, though, do they?” Split personality disorder aside, having two people in your head was something that most couldn’t handle. Spike only gave a small shrug when Maddie caught on to what he was asking, ”You don’t think so? Not if I ask real nice?” The blond gave a little scoff, ”Well, if answers were that easy, we’d all be fat, dumb and happy. But it’s alright. I’ve been this way for a little while. Gotten used to it by now.” And what would he do if he was human anyway? Of course, the first thing he would do would be to flaunt it in Angel’s face. Probably eat a lot of things. But then, where would he go? It’s not as if anyone was waiting for him. Spike truly wasn’t a ‘noble vampire’ but he didn’t like being bored. And after knowing the rush of fighting as a supernatural being, he wasn’t about to throw that away like it was nothing. The vampire rolled his eyes a bit at the bathtub comment, ”Yeah, that was cozy compared to some other places I’ve woken up in.” Spike said truthfully, ”I mean, beside that old man’s constant droning, it wasn’t that bad. Free blood. Telly. Not being staked or experimented on. I can think of worse.”He let Maddie lead him up to the guest room, which was perfectly fine, from Spike’s standards. He looked down at the Xbox, tempted to play it, but even if he liked video games, he wasn’t exceptionally good at them and often ended up trashing the systems. That probably wouldn’t leave his host that happy. So instead, he made his way to the bed again, drawing his legs up under him to sit cross-legged. He mulled around the idea of whether he should open up to the girl or not. After all, who else did he have that would be so kind to him and listen as impartially as Maddie did? Evetually his head rose back up and he began talking. He had no plan as to what he was going to say. He didn’t like dealing with this sort of thing like this. But the opportunity was there, and perhaps Spike could try it once. ”You work hard. You try to be something that people will see as good. But they never see it. Or they choose not to see it. No matter how much white you put into a black spot of paint, you’re only going to end up with gray. Gray’s a nice color and all. I kind of like being gray. But you never escape what you’ve done. And while he’s forgiven—it’s not him, that’s somebody else that killed and slaughtered, they say. But Spike, no, he’s the same man. Never changes. Well, Ginger, you tell me. You’re the observer. The all seeing prophet. Have I changed at all?”+++ TAGS: Maddie WORD COUNT: 589 NOTES: Sorry this is a bit short :<

Madison Mackenzey Compassion Saxon wondered what Spike was thinking. Sure, in the long run it made a lot of sense why angels have to ask and its for the better, but she assumed that the possession was still the same. She even wondered if the guy that Gabriel was possessing was even alive anymore after the dance with the devil and Gabriel getting killed. “if he’s even alive. Gabriel died years ago, Lucifer stabbed him with his angel blade and killed him. God brought him back. Who knows if the other guy is alive or not. Only Gabriel does and he sure wont talk about it.” Maddie said to him, being honest. Sure, it wasn’t what someone would expect to hear but it was true.
Maddie shrugged. “you can try. Why would you give it up though? If your used to it and all, why go back just to have to get used to being a vampire all over again? doesn’t sound like a smart thing to do, but if you really want I can talk to him about it.” Maddie said to him with another light shrug. Maddie wondered what he would do while he was human. She knew that stepping in the sun would probably be the first thing she would do if she was a vampire turned human. She still couldn’t imagine it though, what it was like to want it so much, to want to be human. She didn’t know exactly how bad Spike wanted it, or if he really wanted it at all, but it seemed that way.
Maddie looked at Spike when he started talking about the bathtub and about Giles and being at his house. She would have to agree with him on that. She watched Spike move over to the bed and sit down. He then started talking, which really wasn’t something that she was expecting at all. She thought of him to be the type to just keep everything inside and not talk at all. He went on to talk about how people viewed him, shades of gray. She understood it all.
“you tell me. Have you changed?” Maddie asked him, more along the lines of redirecting the question to him, which was something that her cousins always did when she talked to them, asked them questions and they would do the same, redirect it. She shook her head. “personally, from what I’ve seen yeah you came a long way, I mean from everything.” Maddie paused a moment. “like if I was talking to the old Spike chances are I would be dead… no you would be because Gabriel’s temper would be the death of you.” Maddie said with a small smile, not meaning that in a bad way or anything. “do you have the desire to torture people? Kill people for fun? If not, then yeah, you have changed a lot. Actually I have noticed a change in your behavior after Dru left you.” Maddie said truthfully wondering if he would like the answer she gave him or not.
“you can believe me or not, but that’s what I have seen just by watching Buffy’s life. I don’t know if that was the answer you were looking for but I think it’s the best one I’ve got.” Maddie finished.

”So… if the angel leaves him, the vessel-man dies. Probably.” Spike deduced readily enough. Hmm. Well, in the world that Spike lived in, this was one of the less intense moral quandaries one had to deal with. It sounded like a good deal for the bloke if he got to live out of the deal, even though someone else was in the driver’s seat. Well, Spike would never have to deal with anything like that, considering when you really got down to brass tacks, he was a souled version of a possessed corpse. He already had one demon in him, and no other would be able to fit in there. Spike merely stared at Maddie for a second while she asked why he would want to go back to being human. He didn’t really have a reason to give her. It was a combination of being able to say that he did it and to live without the restrictions of being a vampire. Chances were, as a human, Spike would want to go back to being a vampire. The grass is always greener, as they say, ”Hmm. I’d just want a day, I think. Probably by the end of it, I’d miss being able to punch a hole through concrete.” And that was the truth of it. Being a vampire had made Spike who he was, had given him the courage to be a Champion. That was the thing he couldn’t give up. He was a hero now and he wasn’t going to lose that. Up in the bedroom, Spike wasn’t sure that Maddie really appreciated his confession. Well, no, that wasn’t quite right. She was surprised, but it was more like she was trying to show him that he had asked a stupid question. He reflected on what she said though. He had changed the moment Dru left him for good. He hadn’t needed to show off for her, hadn’t needed to be better and badder than Angelus in her eyes. He had still wanted to be evil for the fun of it, but soon enough, Spike had found he could have that same destruction and crunch on the right side of the tracks as much as the wrong side. And love. Love had something to do with it too, but he was trying not to think about Buffy so much. But in ways, he hadn’t changed at all. He was still rash, simple-minded at times, and a bit twisted in his own way, even now. After a bit more thought, he tilted his head up to the ceiling and stared, ”No. That really wasn’t the answer I was looking for. But it was a pretty good one. I liked it.”With a sigh, Spike’s gaze returned to Maddie. He wasn’t sure if he was going to actually sleep, but he didn’t want the ginger prophet to be bothered while he tried to figure out when he was going to see Buffy and Kath next, ”I think it’s about time we say our goodnights, Ginger. Thanks for listening. And for the bed.”+++ TAGS: Maddie WORD COUNT: 512 NOTES: Blagh. Sorry for the lateness. But knowing Gabriel, he'd put some weird twist on Spike being human :3
