Though he had no idea where he was going, Spike had to be somewhere else. As he exited the boarding house, Spike just felt like he was ripped to shreds. Somehow, Angel had gotten his hands on Spike’s worst secret, and had used it as a weapon against him. Not only had it hurt Spike, but the blond vampire was sure that it had damaged Buffy as well to remember such a thing. And she certainly had other things to deal with right now. But as much as he wanted to be there for her, Spike knew he would probably only make matters worse. He was an instigator, a hot headed mess, and his presence there had only led to more hurt. If Buffy truly needed Spike, he hoped she would call. But until she asked, Spike was going to tend to his own wounds. It was a few moments before Spike realized that he was walking the opposite direction from his crypt, but in a way, it didn’t matter. Angel was probably out for his blood, and at least for now, Spike wanted a place that he was safe. Racking his brain, he could really think of one place. It wasn’t quite the middle of the night yet, but Spike had been wandering for a while, and, if his possible host wasn’t a night owl, the household would probably be asleep. He just had to hope his invitation still stood. The hard part would be finding Maddie’s house. Although she said that he could stay with her, the ginger prophet never actually told him an address. Probably a good idea, considering they were standing in a graveyard where all sorts of evil creatures could hear her. It was home, sweet home to Spike, but for someone without the proper training, it could be dangerous. But Richmond was about as big as Sunnydale used to be, and Spike had gotten more familiar with the town. He walked about for another hour, trying not to think too hard. And eventually, he picked up a scent. He had been around Maddie enough times to remember what her scent was, and following it wasn’t too hard. He arrived at a house, a fairly normal looking one, by Spike’s standards. Trying to be as discreet as possible, he circled around Maddie’s home, trying to find a way in without busting the front door down. If the girl’s guardian angel was right, one of her cousins had ‘Rage Magic’, and Spike wasn’t too keen on figuring out what that was first hand. Within a few moments, he found a window that had been left barely cracked open. Squeezing his fingers underneath the frame, he pushed it up with a grunt, knocked out the screen and lifted himself up through it. Hopefully there weren’t any of those home security things. That would be the cherry on the black day the vampire had been having. Spike landed in a parlor or living room of some kind and he paused for a moment to study the room before replacing the screen and shutting the window. First things first. Spike had to find Maddie. He considered just crashing on the couch and dealing with things in the morning, but he didn’t know where he could safely stay and not get burnt by the sun. The prophet’s scent led the vampire right to what he assumed was her room. The door was slightly ajar, so Spike merely nudged the door open, hoping he wouldn’t catch Maddie off guard too badly. He leaned in the doorway and spoke in a hushed, low tone into the dark room, ”Evening, Ginger. Hope you don’t mind me popping in.” +++ TAGS: Maddie WORD COUNT: 615 NOTES: Sorry that this took me a bit to get up... Let's rock ;3

Madison Mackenzey Compassion Saxon sat in the kitchen staring at the TV watching the television show Fresh Prince of Bel-Air as she ate a piece of the pizza that she had ordered earlier. Her cousins were gone once again, out of town and Maddie didn’t really mind as much. She liked being alone. She could talk to herself and no one would look at her like she was insane. She could also do what she wanted, and tonight she decided that she was going to repaint her plain room. The walls were white, a little too simple for her. She put the crust back down on the paper plate and she walked over to the garbage can to throw it out. Maddie walked over to the chair that she was sitting on and she put on her Batman hoodie over her back to the future t-shirt. She also had on her gray sweatpants over her Batman socks.
Maddie stood staring at the television screen before deciding to turn it off. She walked into the entry room and she grabbed her blue TARDIS sketch book and her cell phone. Maddie looked up at the ceiling and she saw that the devils trap was still there and still in good condition. The young ginger prophet headed up the stairs into her bedroom. Maddie stared at her walls, the outline she did of the bat symbol on one side and the outline of the batman over looking Gotham city on the other. Maddie shrugged when she noticed a theme going. She looked around the rest of her room and wondered what else she could do on her walls. Maddie walked over to her desk and she pulled out her I-pod touch which was in a batman case and she plugged it into her stereo. She turned it on and started listening to Pearl Jam.
Maddie picked up a paint brush and headed over to her bed, and she jumped up in it. She started painting the Delorean from back to the future. This is what she did when she was bored and she didn’t mind it. Maddie was mostly worried about Gabriel. She knew that the angel was alright but she still couldn’t help but worry. She knew what his older brother was capable of, she got the pointy end of that one, and just thinking about it made her side hurt. She just wondered what would happen to Gabriel if Raphael found him. She talked to Gabriel in her dreams sometimes, or at least she hoped it was him and not any of the angels playing a trick on her. She would never tell that Gabriel anything of importance.
She was also happy that she hadn’t heard from her father in a while, which means that he is due to show up soon. Maddie knew that she would be ready for him. There were devil traps all over, hidden from the naked eye. The one in her room was underneath the floor boards. The joys of living in an older home. Maddie jumped down and she moved the comic books that were on the table by the bed onto the floor and she then walked over and jumped up onto the table.
Maddie turned the music off for a moment and listened. She heard movement down stairs and jumped down from the table and she walked over to her closet and pulled out her hockey stick, and she also picked up Gabriel‘s blade. She turned the light and waited. She heard the door open and a familiar voice call into the darkness.
“oh fuck its just you.” Maddie said turning the light back on and throwing the hockey stick back into her closet then turned to look at Spike, putting the blade down on her bed. “no, I don’t mind at all. What brings you around?” she asked, jumping back up onto the table with the paint brush continuing to paint the Delorean.

Before he called out into the darkness, Spike could hear a heartbeat, not really in a state of panicking, but elevated a little bit. And after he made his presence known, Maddie turned on the lights and threw what seemed to be a couple of weapons away. He had to admit, the girl was prepared. He was just lucky she hadn’t been too hasty to whack him on the noggin. It seemed that she was okay with him being there, despite the late hour and the fact he hadn’t even called. As his eyes adjusted to the change in lighting, he stepped into the girl’s room as she bounded back across it to paint a wall. The vampire had to give a light chuckle as he inspected the room. She really did like Batman and was a talented artist, from what he could see on two of her walls. Her geekiness was very endearing, actually. It somewhat reminded him of Fred and Andrew being melded into one person, but without the constant anxiety that both of those people seemed to have. Her nature just made it easy for Spike to be with her. Faith also had a personality that Spike got along with well, but he was often concerned about pushing the wrong button and having the dark-haired Slayer drive a stake in him. With Maddie, he didn’t worry about that as much. She just seemed to understand him somehow and didn’t judge him for his past or what he was. He wasn’t exactly sure what she knew about him, but she seemed to know at least a few things about the time he was evil. The vampire continued to survey the room before he went to her bed and sat down on it before he answered why he was there, ”Trouble in paradise. I can give you the long or the short version, but either way… the shit has hit the proverbial fan.” Really, it didn’t matter to him if he had to explain the whole thing, but he was a bit hesitant to bring up the roots of the whole problem. Perhaps Maddie had already seen some or most of those things, and he wouldn’t have to go into detail, ”Needed somewhere safe. Just for a night. I set up my crypt all nice and cozy, but… can’t go back there.”Spike’s gaze drifted down and he noted the blade on her bed. He cautiously picked it up, turning it in his hands to see if this was what he thought it was. Eventually, he looked over to Maddie again, who was painting something else on an empty wall, ”This is the angel’s sword, innit?” He recalled that Gabriel had told him that the sword had been left with Maddie so she could protect herself better, from both demons and other angels. +++ TAGS: Maddie WORD COUNT: 474 NOTES: Sorry it's a bit short.

Madison Mackenzey Compassion Saxon looked at the bleached blond vampire when he chuckled. She raised an eyebrow at him not really understanding why he was chuckling in the first place. She put the paint brush down and she sat down on her side table and just stared at him. She very well knew why he was there, she had seen something about Angel, but she wouldn’t bring it up. After that, she didn’t want to do anything to set the vampire off, even though she knew that could probably hurt him really badly before he would think about killing her. That and she knew he had an archangel to worry about. Maddie didn’t think that he would ever get mad at her anyway. She wondered if it was just because of the visions or the few times that they have talked, but she thought that they connected well, being great friends and a shoulder to cry on if needed.
Maddie looked at him when he started talking. She nodded. “yeah figures. All I saw was Angel punching you, well taking a swing at you anyway after an argument about Buffy that whole issue. You can fill in the blanks, but you know, you don’t have to. Technically all I am drawing is you fuckin’ getting punched in the face.” Maddie laughed a little, pointing to the sketch book, offering him to take a look at it.
“well I don’t expect everyone back for another few days so feel free to stay as long as you need. ” Maddie then said to him saying that he needed somewhere safe. She then looked at him from the Batman wall and arched one of her eyebrows. “what makes you think that this place is any safer?” Maddie asked, referring to all the crazy shit that goes on in the young prophet’s life. “just wondering. Safe is the last word I would use, ever. But one can only be careful.” Maddie said as she picked the brush back up and tossed it down into the paint can, referring to the devils trap under her floor by the bedroom door.
Maddie watched him carefully as he picked up Gabriel’s blade. He asked about it and she nodded. “don’t stab yourself with it.” Maddie said as she watched him. “why do you ask?” Maddie asked him curiously. She wasn’t really trying to be nosy, she just was curious. In her dream, Gabriel mentioned talking to him.
The prophet sat there and looked like she was lost in a day dream or something, really lost in her thoughts. Madison wondered if this was something that they talked about, if that was the real Gabriel anyway. She was just never sure about it. That was the sucky thing about being a prophet. An angel could pretend to be anyone in a dream, or be themselves to communicate, though its not just to prophets, it could be anyone. She just didn’t trust the bastards with halos anymore. She knew that they knew it too. All trust went down the toilet when Raphael had started working with Ruby, a demon. Just thinking about it made her skin crawl. She remembered every little thing of that day and night, and wondered how an angel could do that, though after hearing Gabriel’s stories, it sort of made sense. All angels were spoiled brats with wings.

”Bloody hell,” Spike grabbed the sketch book when the prophet offered it, curling his lip at what he saw, ”Does my hair actually look like that?” Really, he was mostly kidding, but he was also being a bit vain. He kind of looked like a sodding Ken doll. His free hand went to pat his hair for a second, but he soon placed the sketch book down and turned his attention back to Maddie. He wanted to explain a little bit more as to why he was here, to prove it was for a reason, ”He’s gotten his soul back, but he has it out for me because of… well, yeah, the Buffy issue. That… dark little secret of mine somehow slipped out of her,” The vampire couldn’t go on for a second. He had no intention of calling that skeleton in his closet by its name. And since Maddie saw most things in Buffy’s life, she probably knew what Spike had done to Buffy that one night. It just hurt that Buffy would somehow treat it so casually, just let it go out in a conversation. Did the Slayer really think so little of him? He knew he didn’t deserve it, not around that topic, but she had to have known the consequences of telling this to Angel. And, then, of course, there was Maddie. Spike supposed forgiving him for evil he had done to others was easier when he had done nothing to harm the ginger prophet herself. But did she truly know the extent of what he was? The vampire realized that Maddie was staring at him and forced himself to continue with what went down at the Boarding house, “Angel might try to dust me, and now that I’ve been told where I’m going by someone in the know, I don’t fancy going there quite yet. If ever.””Thank you,” Spike muttered when Maddie said he could stay, though he wasn’t planning on being an imposition for more than a couple of days. But he really wasn’t accustomed to being treated so kindly. Only a few people had ever shown him that level of tenderness, and usually he had ended up hurting them. Now that he had a soul, things would be different, he was sure, but there was also an incredibly crazy and powerful archangel that would mess him up something fierce if he looked at Maddie the wrong way. But he could only shrug when Maddie asked him why he thought it was safer in her house, ”Well, unless you’ve let him in, Angel can’t get in here. And since you aren’t dead, I’m thinking you haven’t given him an invite. Really, he’s the only one I’m worried about. And now that I’m here, you’re a bit safer, aren’t you? It’s a beautiful symbiotic circle of life deal.” A small snicker escaped him as the prophet warned him not to stab himself with the angel’s blade, ”Wasn’t planning to,” Spike said with a half-grin. He knew what she meant. He supposed even a little accidental prick from this baby would give him or any other demon a bad time of things, ”He said I should borrow it. That I’d need it for some reason.””Speaking of… him,” Spike almost had said the archangel’s name and, though he was certain he didn’t need to avoid saying his name out of his presence, he thought it might be a good habit to get into. Maddie would know who he was speaking about anyway, ”He told me that you chose me. As a guardian or something, but wouldn’t say why. Care to explain? I mean, since we’re having a little sleepover, we might as well nosh on some ice cream and gossip.”+++ TAGS: Maddie WORD COUNT: 625 NOTES: Spike seems to have girly sleepovers a lot for some reason...

Madison Mackenzey Compassion Saxon looked at Spike when he said bloody hell and took her sketch book. She raised an eyebrow at him. He was staring at a picture and he then asked about his hair. She nodded, unsure whether he was serious or kidding. She looked over at him again when Spike started talking about Angel and the issue he had with Buffy.
“yeah I can tell the secret is out. I didn’t say a word.” Maddie said with a small smile. She wondered what was going through his mind when he thought of doing that to Buffy. She knew that something was wrong, that he wasn’t in the right state of mind, that is, but she only wondered. She didn’t really care either. She wondered what he thought of that, her knowing. She wasn’t in a position to judge him anyway. She really didn’t know him know him, nor did she really know the Scooby gang either. He then spoke about Angel, about how he might try to kill Spike. “well, that sucks.” Maddie said to him with a small shrug. “they will get over it. It was all in the past, a mistake, something you didn’t mean to do even though it was horrible… but whatever, time will help.” Maddie then said truthfully. She knew her fair share of mistakes, not only by her but by Gabriel.
Madison looked at Spike when he thanked her. She smiled. “its no problem. Gets lonely here sometimes.” Maddie sighed as she got off of the table and walked over to her bag. She pulled out a water bottle from inside and she took a sip from it before turning back to Spike as he started talking again. What he said made snese. She never did invite Angel in, and she had only met him once on the beach. She agreed with him. “yeah that’s true, but there are devil’s traps everywhere so I really don’t have to worry about that.” Maddie said as she walked over and sat by him on her bed staring at the Batman wall. “it’s the angels that I am mostly worried about.” she said honestly.
Maddie watched him with the blade and then looked at him, tilting her head a little to the right and staring at him with a confused look on her face. Why would Spike need the blade, besides the fact that it could kill anything, or so she thought it could. Was there something that the Archangel knew that the other angels didn’t? that made her worry a little. Was Raphael closer to opening the cage to hell and releasing Michael and Lucifer, or was Ruby back in town? That or it could be because of her father and bringing back a few hellhounds with him. Oh that would be a fun night. “why would he say that?he never gives his blade to anyone, well besides the Winchesters and now I have it… but still…” Maddie said to him, still confused.
“making it sound like it was all my idea. What did you two talk about? And don’t say nothing because Gabriel can talk anyone into death.” Maddie said to him, her eyes narrowing at the vampire. “ice cream and gossip? Ooo and later you can French braid my hair and we can paint each other’s nails.” Maddie said sarcastically holding up her left hand and showing him her superhero logo painted nails. Maddie laughed and shook her head. “ice cream is in the kitchen, and I just finished eating some pizza, though ice cream does sound good right now though.” Maddie jumped up with a smile and headed to her bedroom door. “coming?” she then asked.
“as for choosing? Nah, more like a crazy random happenstance. More along the lines of I get along better with you than the others at this point in time. I don’t judge while I observe and with a soul, your heart is in the right place.” Maddie said to him honestly. “Deep down, through that tough exterior, your just a little, squishy teddy bear.” Maddie joked to Spike as she started walking down the hallway.
Maddie walked down the stairs and through part of the Victorian house until she got into the kitchen and opened the freezer. Inside there was chocolate and vanilla ice cream. She put the boxes of ice cream on the counter and opened the chocolate one and there was nothing in it. “and that was Billy.” Maddie said throwing the box away.
"so, what else did Gabriel say to you, and he didnt do anything crazy did he?" She asked him curiously.

Spike could only half stare at the ginger prophet as she assured him that one day, things would blow over and get better. If her words were true, that it was in the past and people would eventually come to terms with it, why did it seem like everyone wanted to hurt him with it so recently? God forbid anyone thought that Spike had forgotten who the true victim of his actions were, but it was a true trauma for him as well. He couldn’t even examine it, just as he had not been able to examine his mother’s death and staking for over one hundred years. He just remembered being desperate. Desperation turned to frustration. Frustration turned to anger. Anger got him thrown across a room and he realized what he had almost done. But he had to admit that Maddie’s view on the whole thing was rather refreshing, if not a bit removed. He even cracked a small grin when her reaction to him potentially being dusted was just ‘Well, that sucks’. Even if it was the view of someone who was a bit of an outsider and untouched by the years of drama that consisted within the Scooby gang, it was a realist’s view, a girl who had been through some tough times and knew what she was talking about. Or at least Spike hoped so. ”So, your folks are gone on holiday and left you behind to watch the house?” Spike asked, a bit confused as to why they would leave Maddie by herself. Those devil trap things sounded like an effective weapon against her father, but it wasn’t as if the ginger girl could stay in her house all day. And while she did have a badass sword, she was only human. Spike already had to deal with a few girls like Dawn and Kathy who thought they could just wander about at night when it was quite possible for anything to try to snap them up for a snack. Maddie had more defenses, but she also had more enemies. Many more enemies by the sounds of things. No matter what Gabriel had told him, Spike still wasn’t sure if he could last in a showdown against an angel. Or much less likely an archangel, ”Not much can take those feathery gits out, eh?”Well, this was interesting. Evidently the archangel had told more to the vampire than prophet. Either that, or Spike was misquoting the bloke, ”Well… he said that I’d have to use the blade, whether I wanted to or not. I like me a good weapon every so often, but he made it sound as if I was going to be beating back some kind of threat in the future. Some angel or demon. Or hellhound—he mentioned those too. In any case, I’m not planning to keep it or anything.””Well, mostly we talked about his dysfunctional family and the bible,” The vampire said flatly, still turning the angel’s sword in his hands, ”And where people go when they die… or get dusted.” His voice kind of trailed off at that point. It was kind of strange, now that he knew where he was going. He supposed that was the only reason why he was running from Angel at this point. After he had cooled off, perhaps his sire would not want to stake Spike and instead just bust his head a bit. With a shrug, he set the blade down, ”He is a bit of a Chatty Kathy, that one.”The vampire gave a soft snort to her further plans for their sleepover. Painting nails, that was something Buffy and Willow had also asked him to do as well. He had been painting them on and off, but they were bare right now. And actually, though he wasn’t planning on saying it, he could French braid her hair as well, since he had done it for Dru while she was recovering in Sunnydale. Instead, he inspected her hand, ”Well, I’d have to go with Batman Black, myself, although the Green Lantern Green is quite attractive.” And he gave a wry smile when the prophet invited him for ice cream and followed her after stretching his arms behind him in a cat-like fashion. Spike was a strange vampire in that he still enjoyed all kinds of human food, even if he couldn’t taste it like a human. If offered, he would certainly eat anything that was full of sugar or deep fried. ”Is that so? So, I’ve been drafted because I’m… your friend?” Spike chuckled. She got along well with him? He supposed that they were getting on just fine, but that wasn’t something people said to him that often. The girl seemed to believe in him, and although he was hesitant to call himself her friend, it seemed to be the closest thing that Spike could label their relationship as. He gave a small scoff at her calling him a teddy bear though and mumbled, ”I’m a squishy teddy with big sharp teeth.”He kept following her through the house, examining the place, but not finding anything too remarkable or out of the ordinary. In fact, it made him think of the Summers’ homestead in some strange fashion. And when they arrived in the kitchen, he merely leaned against the far counter as she rummaged through the freezer and threw away an empty box, blaming a ‘Billy’ who must have been one of her cousins. The scene was strangely but charmingly domestic. And as the prophet asked him more about his encounter with the archangel, his lips twitched a bit, ”Well, he stuck his hand in my chest and poked around my soul a bit. That was bloody hilarious,” His tone indicating it was anything but, “We also talked about how Hell shouldn’t get their hands on you. Or any prophet. End of the world type business there. Don’t think it would be much fun for you to go there either.”+++ TAGS: Maddie WORD COUNT: 1002 NOTES: Yes. Yes, he does love them, whether he wants to admit it or not.

Madison Mackenzey Compassion Saxon looked at Spike. He seemed to be thinking which was fine with her. She hoped that she didn’t say anything that would make him upset. She only speaks what she knows through experience, things that she went through, not lying like other people, or just saying it to make someone feel better. That wasn’t her. She would also tell the truth too, since lying is just not a good thing to do in a situation like this, even if it was to make someone feel better. She was hiding a lot though, not even her cousins knew what had happened that night with Raphael and Ruby. That was something only her, Dean and Gabriel would know besides the other angel and the demon. In her defence though, they never asked.
Maddie looked at Spike when he asked if her folks were on a holiday. Maddie shook her head. “nope. My mother died when I was young, I live here with my cousins. They are gone though.” Maddie said to him, then adding “they visit other family once a month or so.” Maddie looked at him and wondered if he was worried about her. She let ou a sigh and she then looked at him seriously. “I can take care of myself. I have a black belt in a few martial arts and Gabriel’s sword, an anti possession tattoo,” Maddie said, showing him the five pointed star tattoo on her hip, “and lots of other weapons laying around here and there.” Maddie said to him, trying to get him not to worry as much. Gabriel still did but he had the right to. He is her archangel. “and salt. Lots and lots of salt.”
Spike had then asked about the angels, and what can take them out. “mostly the blades, those are the best bet, but there are banishing sigils, which I know, and some of the other weapons of heaven could take them out I imagine. Not much can kill them, no.” Maddie replied before saying “but you can also protect yourself with out the banishing sigil. Theres this huge angel protection thing that basically would cover this entire house in symbols, which would cause Kaitlyn to flip out so we stick with the banishing, even though we never use it. Gabriel has once. When he went to heaven for the first time to save Dean Winchester and his younger brother Castiel, and then he fell to earth and met Buffy.” Maddie said to Spike. She has never made one herself but she knows how and that’s all she needed.
Madison listened to Spike talk about what he would use the blade for. She then had it click in her mind. Gabriel was expecting Raphael to come back. It would be a matter of time before the youngest archangel would be found out. She then realized that Gabriel was jumping ship and joining Castiel. Maddie let out a sarcastic laugh and slammed her head down on the table that she was standing on before. She knew what would happen once Raphael learned of Gabriel’s actions. Either it would be another Lucifer incident and Gabriel would die or he would use Castiel to kill his older brother. Either way, Maddie didn’t like it. “what a dumb fuck.” Maddie said, then looked up at Spike. “though it’s a stupid plan that might work. He is playing Raphael and Castiel. He did this once before with the Demigods, the Winchesters and Lucifer, though he knew it wouldn’t work and he tried to stop it. I think he is going to join sides with the Winchesters and Castiel, his younger brother. Send Raphael into a frenzy, and finish the fight with Castiel, hoping that Castiel wins. This,” Maddie said pointing to the archangel’s blade, “is just in case we get caught in the crossfire.” Maddie finished. She then looked back at Spike “I call first stab on Gabriel. I’m going to kill him.” She said to Spike.
Spike then went on and talked about Gabriel. She nodded and agreed with him. The Archangel doesn’t know how to shut up, though she wondered if it was because he was alone right now. She knew that he wouldn’t go to talk to Dean just yet and he obviously hasn’t seen her or anyone else but Spike and that hunter who tried to kill her. Spike then mentioned that they talked about where people go when they die. She wondered if he told Spike that he was probably going to purgatory. She felt bad. He didn’t deserve purgatory, though at least in purgatory he had a chance to survive. In hell, that was worse. “that might be because he is lonely.” Maddie responded to Spike about Gabriel being talkative.
Maddie laughed at his statement. “well I can give you a little bat symbol if you like.” Maddie showed him her yellow nail with the bat symbol drawn on it. She laughed a little. Maddie scooped out some vanilla ice cream into a clean bowl from the sink and sliding it across the counter to Spike. “theres chocolate sauce and stuff in the fridge if you like anything on it.” she said
Madison’s attention turned from the ice cream to Spike asking about him being her friend, which she knew was rhetorical. She listened to him chuckle, and she raised her eyebrow. “is that supposed to be funny?” Maddie asked, tilting her head to the side, not really understanding but she could take a guess. “I was joking about the teddy bear thing.” Maddie eyed Spike, after hearing him mumble something. She rolled her eyes at him and she grabbed another bowl for herself. She scooped out more ice cream and grabbed two spoons, sliding on over to Spike and keeping one for herself.
Maddie’s eyes widened when Spike told her that Gabriel had touched Spike’s soul. “you realize that you gave him and open invitation to a huge ass power boost, and not to mention to blow everyone within this state to oblivion right?” Maddie stared at him, her eyes narrowing. “and I thought I was insane.” She gave a sarcastic chuckle and rolled her eyes.
Maddie nodded to his last statement. “yeah well hell almost did.” She said referring to Raphael and Ruby, not to mention the countless near escapes from her father. At least the demon was still afraid of Gabriel.

”Didn’t say you couldn’t.” Spike said honestly, a bit surprised that she took what he said that way and had the urge to show off the many talents and protections she had. Where had this girl had the time to learn multiple martial arts, though? Spike himself knew bits and pieces of several fighting styles, but he was probably six times as old as the ginger. Helluva interesting girl, this one. Although, the whole bit about her family made her sound… isolated, perhaps. Spike couldn’t really sort out how she felt about her cousins just up and leaving her. If they were really all that close, wouldn’t she have gone with them? Or perhaps Spike had misunderstood something. Well, he didn’t really want to talk about family right now, anyway, considering what he had as his ‘family’ was incredibly frustrated with him at best. Complicated stuff, this relationship business. It was interesting to know that more than the sword could hurt an angel, though it wasn’t a very long list. Spike gave a soft cluck of his tongue, ”I suppose those weapons of heaven are high in demand and short in supply. Well, banishing’s as good as killing to me, long as I’m not a pile of ashes by the end of the fight. And that Dean bloke, who the hell is he, really? Your angel mentioned him. And I think Buffy knows him somehow.”As soon as Spike finished talking about the blade, he could see little cogs turning in Maddie’s head. He titled his head as she explained about what she thought Gabriel’s plan was. And though he thought he more or less followed it, the whole purpose of the thing was lost on Spike. He could somewhat remember who this Castiel was, the angel that was for free will. Raphael was the angel against it. The part that Spike was interested in was that he was somehow being dragged into this—a small part, but important. But it was evident that Maddie was all riled by this. Spike wondered if he said something that he shouldn’t have, but he didn’t recall the archangel telling him to keep particularly quiet about any of this. His hand moving to rub the back of his neck, Spike’s eyes followed the ginger prophet as she fumed, ”You can call as many stabs as you like, love, but as I understand it, this is a ‘end of the world is nigh’ kind of thing. Bad things are bound to happen.”He gave a light scoff about Maddie’s statement about the talkative angel, ”Everybody’s lonely.” Cause wasn’t that the sodding truth? Every single person Spike could think of was in a bad way, nursing their wounds, feeling sorry for themselves, unsure of what they could do to help. Made Spike want to drink himself silly. Too bad Gabriel wasn’t here---Spike would be his friend and listen to him for the rest of bloody eternity if he supplied him with a never ending bottle of Jack with a blood chaser. Eventually, Spike looked away like he was inspecting the walls again, ”It’s not that bad here, though.”Down in the kitchen, Spike let the bowl of ice cream slow before dragging it a bit further to set it in front of him and accepted Maddie’s offer of the various toppings, pulling the chocolate sauce and a jar of caramel sauce from the refrigerator and setting them to one side of his bowl. But something was a little wrong—Maddie seemed slightly offended or confused by his slightly rhetorical question. His gaze went from the counter to the prophet, ”Erm, no. Just… one doesn’t usually rely on the power of friendship to save the day that often.” He paused, a bit unsure what the prophet was thinking, ”I mean, are we not? Friends, I mean.” It was strange. Labels weren’t something Spike normally concerned himself with, but with Maddie, in this moment, he was in a state, he supposed. Kind of all raw and looking for something good and nice and stable in his life. But he was used to being the convenient choice, the second tier. He supposed being that again wouldn’t kill him. ”No, that’s…. Jokes are only funny when they have a spot of truth in them,” Spike grabbed the spoon that was slid over to him and dug into the ice cream, a bit embarrassed that he could admit such a thing. It didn’t taste like much bare, so he grabbed the chocolate syrup and doused the entire top of his serving with it and tried it again. Chocolate was a stronger flavor, so it was a bit better. He could tell that it was plenty sweet, smooth and cold, and that’s really all one needed from ice cream. Spike gave a little curl of his lips, more annoyed at remembering what Gabriel had done to him then Maddie slightly scolding him, ”Well, he said he didn’t want to and then he did it anyway. Mind you, I had a hand in my chest—couldn’t have really done a lot to stop anything,” Spike sniffed and took another bite of his dessert, ”He did warn me about what would happen if his finger slipped. But you know, I came back from one massive explosion, so what’s another? He didn’t mention the boost of power or whatnot. Probably so I would let him do it.””So, exactly what happens when a prophet ends up in Hell?” Spike asked, his brow furrowed a bit. He knew he probably wouldn’t like the answer, but it was better to be prepared than not, ”Your angel said that it’d be the end of the world… for us. Not the whole world? Do we get erased from history or something?”+++ TAGS: Madison WORD COUNT: 964 NOTES: He really is a squishy teddy bear.

Madison Mackenzey Compassion Saxon looked at Spike and shook her head. It seemed like that’s what he meant but it didn’t matter anymore. “sorry. I hate how people don’t think that I cant take care of myself. For a while it was always the four of us taking care of each other and when they leave every once in a while, which I am not complaining about because its quiet around here for once-” Maddie paused. “Gabriel’s a little over protective, sorry.” Maddie said looking away from him. She just had to get used to it, even though she had a lot of independence.
Maddie looked at him once more when he asked about all the weapons and then Dean. “there weren’t a lot made. They were made by God, like Moses’ staff or even Gabriel’s horn.” Maddie said, giving him an example of the weapons that she was talking about. “there are more than those but I don’t know what the others are. Gabriel didn’t exactly give me a list.” Maddie said followed by “though it would have helped after Heaven’s weapons were stolen by another angel named Balthazar who was selling them, the price of them were souls, if I could remember correctly.” Maddie said to him remembering what Gabriel had told her about it. She then wondered what she could say about Dean with out telling him everything, not that it was bad or anything. “Dean Winchester. He’s a hunter and a friend. Talk about a person whose died a lot. He died saving my life Raphael killed him, Gabriel brought him back, talk about pissing Death and the great circle of life off.” Maddie laughed a little.
Maddie smiled at him when he said that she could have as many stabs as she wants. Maddie then shook her head. “oh you have no idea. Raphael wants to open Lucifer’s cage in hell and then there goes Michael and Lucifer ready to tear the world apart. Like they almost did years ago.” Maddie said to him. “and yeah, Lucifer as in the archangel and the devil, in case you were wondering if it was that Lucifer. Kind of an ass that one, not much better than his older brother who was the assigned guardian angel of mine.” Maddie said, knowing how glad she was when Gabriel stepped in.
Maddie looked at him and nodded. It was true. In a way everyone was lonely, even if they were with people and communicating with them everyday. It was all in understanding that didn’t make a person lonely, like if someone understood how a person felt or thinks or acts, then loneliness is a thing of the past. She had that with Gabriel. When he was around they were fine with each other. “nah, not really. Like I said with them gone its quiet, though I like the noise too.” Maddie shrugged to him.
Maddie watched him go into the fridge for the toppings. She just stood there and ate her ice cream plain. She liked it that way. She knew what he meant by his statement of friendship. The young ginger prophet looked up from her ice cream and to him and smiled. “well, its something Gabriel and I have invented, and the Winchesters I guess could fall on that too.” She then looked at him when he asked about the friend thing. She smiled and nodded then replied “I think so, I mean, we do kind of see each other a lot and talk to each other, plus you did kind of just show up here unannounced, and friends do that so I hope we are.” Maddie then took a scoop of ice cream and ate it.
Maddie laughed at him. He was going to admit it too. He didn’t have to though. She would change the subject from it, saving him the embarrassment. She watched him dump chocolate syrup on his ice cream and she could have sworn she was sitting right across from Gabriel, since he too would do that. The archangel was addicted to such sweets. “want some more ice cream with that chocolate syrup?” Maddie asked jokingly with a slight laugh.
Maddie took another bite of her ice cream as he talked about Gabriel touching his soul. She merely shrugged. She didn’t care because Gabriel was fighting on her side and he was her friend. She just had to believe that he had a plan and that he knew what he was doing. “that’s ok, everyone falls for it. I did too. He does it for the extra kick, I guess its to survive or something like that.” Maddie shrugged again not really knowing why he would do it in the first place since he was already one of the more powerful beings in the universe under his father anyway.
“it can go multiple ways, the biggest one is breaking one of the 66 seals. The first seal shall break when a righteous man turns in hell, or in other words when a righteous man becomes like a demon, behaves like one, tortures other souls.” Maddie said to him. “they are Gods chosen too, so it’s a great bargaining chip with the angels of heaven too. Can practically get anything they want with a prophet’s soul, like that will ever apply to me. The angels could give a rats ass about me thanks to my loyalty to a traitor.” Maddie said to him with a half smile. “not to mention the whole hell of a lot of trouble I gave Raphael. Man, did that piss him off.” Maddie gave a small chuckle to that. “yeah no, it can start the end of the world, but doesn’t really cause it. If demons were smart they would keep the prophet alive and use them for the visions. it’s a lot easier to kill them now though because there’s only Raphael willing to protect them, if he does anymore. Demons used to be terrified of prophets because of the archangels and angels who protect them.” Maddie finished wondering herself if Raphael really does have a heart and protect prophets anymore.
“its amusing, a lot of what I know I shouldn’t know. Gabriel just told me a lot. Usually all a prophet knows is that they are supposed to record their visions. Gabriel just told me the origins, what happens, reasons, stuff like that. I think that’s the reason why we are so close to each other too. He’s honest, just like you‘ve been.” Maddie then said smiling to Spike.

The vampire gave a small grin as Maddie explained further about why she had been quick to defend her skills of… well, defending herself. He only gave a tiny shrug, ”No. Didn’t mean it that way. Just… you have a lot of enemies, as I take it. Even the strongest among us can’t beat back a rush of baddies.” Spike wasn’t sure if a huge amount of unfriendlies were going to attack her, but he had been told the basics of when she had been kidnapped two or three times now and it just seemed like such a thing was possible. Well, that’s why Gabriel wanted him and Buffy to keep an eye on the girl, he supposed. ”Huh. What does an angel want with souls?” Spike murmured to the description of the heavenly weapons and their black market dealer. More tropes from the Bible. But the price of a soul for these items—that was too steep of a price for Spike. Well, then again, someone who didn’t have to fight for their soul would probably put less value into it. Spike gave a small smile at the description of Dean. Multiple heroic deaths and resurrections? Pals with a higher power? ” Sounds like regular old Champion. The angel said we should all go out drinking together. Though, really, doesn’t that sound like a naff joke or something? An angel, a vampire and a hunter walk into a bar…”As Maddie gave her next explanation, things finally clicked in Spike’s head. If the world was being torn apart, the other war would have to be put on hold. Smart move actually, save the Earth splitting in two. ”Oh, yeah. I assumed as much about the whole Satanic thing. Although, Gabe gets a bit miffed if you say anything against the man. Not really how you’d think it be, from what I recall from that funny black book.” He paused for a moment as another piece of what Maddie had said triggered something else in the vampire, ”So, your angel just stepped in to guard you when he wasn’t supposed to? Makes a lot of sense, actually. I can see him doing something like that.” Despite having a rather turbulent conversation, Spike actually really liked Gabriel. He wasn’t the coward or deserter that Spike had once thought he was. He certainly was a runner, but it was for a good reason. And he at least knew how to cover his tracks and make sure others would be safe. Spike gave something of a slightly wicked chuckle as he absentmindedly made patterns in the chocolate sauce on his ice cream, ”Hell, I was showing up unannounced at Buffy’s house way before we were… anything. I guess things are different now, ‘cause of the soul, but… yeah, that’s good. We’re…” Damn it, he was kind of floundering. It really wasn’t that he felt uncomfortable around Maddie—the opposite was true. But he still was kind of frazzled from previous events. When exactly was he going to talk with everybody? Was he ever going to see Kathy again? He pushed his thoughts away and regrouped, ”I don’t really like putting labels on things too much. You and me, we’ll save the day by being bloody brilliant people, and that’s that.”Another half-grin appeared on his face as Maddie teased him about the amount of chocolate he was consuming. He took a large bite and licked the spoon clean before pointing it in the direction of the prophet, ”You try having a vampire’s sense of taste for a day and see if you can eat anything plain.” Really, as a human, Spike’s tastes had been boring and weak. Now he had to go to extremes to feel anything at all from food. But he still ate human food way more than any other vampire he knew. The blond gave a small nod in acquiescence when Maddie told him more about why Gabriel had fished around in his ribcage, ”Well, if it’s helping the bloke live, I guess it was for a good cause. It hurt, but only about the same as when it was put in there.” Which still hurt a hell of a lot. And in any case, whether Spike had consented or not, Gabriel could have still done it to him. Spike had a feeling he probably wouldn’t have if Spike had outright denied him, but with his temperamental behavior, who knew? The vampire’s eyebrow quirked for a second, ”A righteous man? Do they make those anymore?” Mostly he was joshing the ginger again, but it had been a very long time since he had met someone completely righteous. Buffy was pretty close, but her recent behavior… damn, it was hard to say if it was Spike’s emotions clouding that judgment or not. Another somewhat sour smile cross his face as she explained further, ”The outcasts, are you? Well, they probably just kill all of you to just to rile someone. That’s what I’d be doing, if I was still all evil and blood-lusty. But really, sometimes there’s not a plan. There’s just destroying.””That must be nice. Being close to somebody.” Spike said, mostly to himself, before taking another bite of ice cream. He had only really been truly close to one person in his life and unlife. And now who knew where that was going to go? The vampire thought for a little more, swirling around his ice cream before saying, ”You know that old ideal that God has a plan for each and all? That’s just a load of bollocks, innit? I’m not saying He’s… bad or anything. I don’t want your crazy archangels baring down on me ‘cause I badmouthed his father. I’m not insulting Him. I’m just saying… there’s chosen ones, so there must be unchosen ones, right? Ones where things don’t work out for the greater good.”+++ TAGS: Madison WORD COUNT: 981 NOTES: lol, I'm glad we agree :3

Madison Mackenzey Compassion Saxon nodded, agreeing with Spike. She knew that it was true, the one that would have a chance at taking a bunch on by himself would be Gabriel. He was powerful and with that power he was able to take down anyone beside his own brothers. Maddie didn’t reply to him, she just stood there and ate another scoop of ice cream, wondering what could possibly go wrong with Gabriel gone, or when she would see him again. She knew it had to be soon.
Maddie shrugged at Spike’s question. “probably for the power, maybe to keep heaven above in soul counts… I don’t really know.” Madison replied to him, giving him the best answer that she could possibly give him. She then looked back at him when he started talking about Dean. She nodded, giving a small laugh at the little joke that he put in there. “yeah, just be careful around the angel when he is drunk. He’s a bit reckless, though he’s reckless anyway.” Maddie gave a shrug before remembering the vision that Gabriel sent her while he was drunk, the one of him falling to earth again, mooning Raphael as he fell, before he met Buffy. “he sent me a vision while he was drunk. It was him falling to earth mooning his older brother Raphael.” Maddie smiled.
Maddie looked down at her ice cream that was almost gone already. She took another scoop and she ate it, the walked over to the sink and grabbed a glass and filled it up with water. She walked back over to where she was standing previously, and she put it down next to her bowl. She looked over to Spike when he started talking again. She nodded, remembering how he got after Dean and Sam were bad mouthing his siblings. She nodded to his next statement. “sure, it was a little weird at first, trying to believe that he was an angel but that didn’t take too long, under the circumstances.” Maddie gave Spike a small smile.
Maddie listened to Spike talk about labels and how he never used them. She gave a small chuckle as he seemed to have had a loss for words. She smiled as he said that he didn’t really like putting labels on things and that they were brilliant. “we are bloody brilliant people arent we? Maddie said more as a rhetorical question than anything. She finished her ice cream and she put it in the sink. Maddie decided that she would wash it later. She walked back over and took another sip from her water and placed it down on the counter.
Maddie shook her head. She looked up at Spike and wondered what that would be like. She never really wanted to know for sure though. She would just take his word for it. “alright I take your word on that. I really don’t want to know what the vampire taste is like.” Maddie smiled to him shaking her head once more. She then looked at him when he said that having Gabriel touched his soul it hurt like it did when he got it back.
Maddie shrugged when he asked if they made them anymore. “well, they must since Dean went to hell and started the apocalypse so I would assume so.” Maddie replied to his question. She then looked at Spike again and raised an eyebrow. She then agreed with him though. “destroying is a big part of it. Have you read revelations? Though that’s on the angels part, the destroying.” Maddie sighed a little. that’s what the apocalypse is supposed to be like, everything destroyed to oblivion with the unchosen being left behind.
Madison looked at Spike when he said that it must be nice being close to somebody. “if you don’t mind me asking, weren’t you close to Dru or does that not count?” Maddie asked him curiously. Maddie tilted her head to the side and she then picked up her glass of water and took a sip from it. She then listened to him talk, asking her questions. “I’m sure he does, though I’m told he left, doesn’t interfere with this world anymore, and don’t mind Gabriel, he does get a little defensive, though its kind of understandable. His family is pretty dysfunctional.” Maddie said to him with a light shrug. “as far as unchosen ones, I don’t think there is really such a thing.” Maddie said truthfully.
“you want anything to drink? Just help yourself to whatever.” Maddie said, not really knowing what they had here in the house.

”Soul counts?” Spike echoed the prophet and gave a small scoff, ”Like it’s a bloody sales goal in a tailor’s shop. Really, beyond the corruption of mankind, it’s all about who has more people devoted to them? A bit petty, one might think.” Perhaps it had to do with power, like who had the bigger army or whatnot, but still, it made Heaven and Hell sound like a bureaucracy. And Spike was a much bigger fan of chaos and anarchy. ”Keeps it classy, doesn’t he?” The vampire’s voice dripped with sarcasm about the prophet’s archangel mooning his brother. Well, hell, Spike couldn’t say he wouldn’t do that to somebody if he was drunk or wanted to annoy someone enough. But he had seen firsthand what Gabriel could do on alcohol, ”Yeah, he was drinking when we met up. The bloke kept saying he wasn’t drunk, but I’m not so convinced. He changed the weather pattern and caused the sodding earth to tremble a couple of times. Hate to make him actually angry.”A little snort escaped the vampire as she repeated what he said. It was cute that she seemed so proud of it, but there was another reason, ”Don’t say ‘bloody’. You Yanks just sound silly saying it.” It was a little hard to tell if Spike was being serious or not as he really did think that bloody should be a word left to the Brits, but he had his typical playful tone as he said it. He wasn’t looking to make his host feel bad, after all. Another smirk appeared on his lips as Maddie admitted she wouldn’t want to know what a vampire’s sense of taste was like, ”It’s dull. And kind of terrible. “ Spike told her anyway. ”Really. This Dean Winchester is a righteous man?” Spike said with a laugh. Not that it was really funny or anything, just that it seemed strange what people could define ‘righteous’ as. In the old hymnals and such, angels and righteous men did not go out drinking, especially not with vile creatures of the night like Spike. ”Hmm. I might have a mind to track him down. See what he’s all about. Hopefully not get staked.” He was a hunter, after all. Between that crazy woman at the graveyard and Robin Wood years before that, Spike did not have a good track record with hunters thus far. Then again, in the course of his life, Spike did not have a good track record with pretty much anything. He took his last bite of ice cream, watching Maddie setting her bowl in the sink. The talk about Revelations was a mite interesting. ”So, all the things about the Anti-Christ and the beasts and the whore of Babylon all melts down to a pissing war between Heaven and Hell? Kind of blows for us mere mortals. Or immortals, some of us.””Dru.” Hmm. That was a bit complicated, wasn’t it? Spike couldn’t really say that he loved Dru anymore, but certainly there was still some kind of feelings bobbing around in his brain. One doesn’t love their sire for over a hundred years and just forget that. But were they close? ”Guess it depends on how you define that. Dru… she understood both the monster and the poet. So, if you look at it that way, sure. And the love was true, if not twisted. But… she wanted to make me into something, I think. She hurt me so that she could keep me. She didn’t…” His voice trailed off and the silence was only broken by the clink of his spoon in his empty ice cream dish, “ My love wasn’t enough for her.” His eyes remained glued to the empty bowl as Maddie continued, talking about God and Gabriel’s family. He hoped that she was right that there was something as an ‘unchosen’ person. Or perhaps if there was, you were not chosen by God, but rather other people. Spike was certain that the others, though they weren’t talking, were still together and the thought crossed his mind that perhaps he should be there with them. But it was just more comfortable to be here, with someone who didn’t judge him. It was strange, but Maddie just seemed to know that Spike had true remorse for what he had done in his past. And she didn’t treat him as if he was a monster. ”Well, I’m guessing you don’t have any blood ala Wilbur around here, so I’m fine.” Spike declined her offer with a joke, as per usual. And alcohol, his other poison of choice, didn’t really interest him for some reason. He moved to set his own dish in the sink and glanced back to Maddie. ”I’m… a bit tired, honestly,” The vampire admitted, his face showing a sense of apology, ”I’ll just nip off to the couch and you can go back to fancifying your room. I mean… you can join me, but chances are I’m just going to be emulating my Grand-sire, and you know how that is. So…” The sentence trailed off again and with a little nod, he started to make his way to the parlor to rest a bit. +++ TAGS: Maddie WORD COUNT: 869 NOTES: ~

Madison Mackenzey Compassion Saxon stood there and listened to Spike talk. She nodded, partially understanding what he meant by that. She didn’t really know why heaven needed to be ahead in the soul count since they were a lot more powerful than the demons but she really didn’t care. Just as long as hell didn’t touch her or the house she was fine with it. She really didn’t care much for heaven or hell and with the way it was sounding, with everything that was going on, Purgatory sounded like the best place to be, like it was fucking Disney World compared to Heaven and Hell.
“I think he does.” Maddie joked with Spike. “not to mention his vessel has a nice ass… not that I was looking…” Maddie joked a little more, not really caring what Spike would say to that. She listened to him talk about how he thought that Gabriel was drunk and she shook her head. “no, believe me you will know a drunk archangel when you see one, and I guarantee you that he wasn’t drunk that night. You know how I can tell? You can hear. When he’s drunk he starts talking in enochan, the language of the angels. The whole weather ground shaky thing? That was you pissing him off. He is a very hot headed angel.” Maddie said to him with a small chuckle. “I am lucky to have the joys of pissing him off because he cant do shit about it.” Maddie then added with a smile.
Maddie rolled her eyes to his little speech about how she should say bloody. “for your information, I’m from London, lived there for a while before coming here to the states. Lost the accent because, well reasons.” Maddie said to him wondering what he would say to that. Not many people knew she was born in London. Just the people close to her.
“I cant say if he will stake you or not. He is kind of hard to predict.” Maddie shrugged. She looked at him when he started talking about revelations. “yeah kinda does blow but its fun to have a friend whos an archangel who likes to alter reality and when heaven and hell wars, I bet you that their weapons will be something between squirt guns or even just giant lollypops.” Maddie said completely able to visualize it in her head.
Maddie listened to him talk about Dru. From what she saw in Buffy’s life, in her dreams, she knew exactly what Dru was about. She couldn’t say that she knew her as well as they did since Maddie had never met the crazy vampire, but she knew something. “sorry, probably not a good thing to mention.” Maddie said after that awkward silence. “probably stupid of me to even bring it up.” Maddie added shaking her head.
Maddie shook her head when he said that he was tired. She shook her head when he said that he was going to go sleep on the couch. She walked with him, and stopped in the entrance of the room. “theres a guest bedroom upstairs. That couch is kind of uncomfortable, and if you want to talk I’ll listen. Sometimes its good to talk about something, with out people judging you.” Maddie said to him from the door way.
It was true. She had that with her cousins. She could talk to them about anything and none of the would judge her, it was probably because they knew about everything that was going on and that was the last thing that would ever do. She returns the favor. She isnt a judgemental person at all, people make bad choices sometimes and in the long run, they are the people living with it, have guilt and regret, why should she have to add to that?

Spike gave a snort to Maddie’s jokes. Huh. Well, Gabriel, physically, wasn’t interesting to the vampire. He had types that he went for, but evidently so did the prophet. Although there was one thing that caught his attention in all of that ”Vessel? You mean to say Gabe went and jacked some poor bloke’s body? Hell, how does that make them different than the demons? I mean… other than the saving the world and charity to mankind crap that the lower levelers do.” Spike didn’t mean to sound pissy about it, but frankly, with Buffy telling him about how Faith had switched their bodies and other tales from the crypt, it was a little bit of a sore point for the vampire, ”Maybe I’m jumping to conclusions, but the term ‘vessel’ just sounds a little like a hostile body takeover.””Ooh. You can be my middle man for yanking his chain then.” Spike gave another joke right back to the ginger. It was interesting to think about the angel and the prophet together. Just the way she talked about him, he figured Maddie had a ‘friend-crush’ at least on the angel. It seemed a true shame that Gabriel had to be separated from his charge. It sounded as if they were communicating somehow, but it wasn’t a substitute for someone in the flesh. The vampire tilted his head, pleasantly surprised that that he was speaking to a London girl. A cheeky grin flitted across his face, ”Ah, but that’s the thing. You gave in and now it’s revoked.” He was kidding more, of course. It was a bit strange how, even though they had probably only known each other for a short while, Spike and Maddie were rather casual with each other like this. They both joshed and joked with one another as if no one was plotting their demise somewhere far away. Shrugging back at the prophet’s description of Dean and the wars between Heaven and Hell being turned into Candy Land, Spike’s thoughts turned back to the somewhat all-powerful angel. If he could shape reality, bend it completely to his will and such, what did that mean he could do for Spike? Was it possible that he didn’t need a vague and messy prophecy to become human? It wasn’t as if Spike was desperate to be a man again, but to taste, breathe, feel the sun… it was something that even Spike missed at times. He probably should have brought this up when he was speaking to the archangel himself, but he supposed the girl he was friends with and guarded would also know a thing or two about the extent of the angel’s powers, ”So… when your angel changes things like weapons into lollies, is it real? Or is it just smoke and mirrors? I mean, can he… change people too?”When he saw how awkward Maddie felt by bringing up Drusilla, Spike wanted to put an end to it right away. She hadn’t meant it, and Spike was just in a mood. It was sensitive, but Maddie didn’t need to feel bad about it, ”Eh, that’s alright, love. You see Buffy’s life. Not mine.” The vampire said, his eyes still skirting around where the prophet stood but not landing on her directly. But she seemed to understand that he was looking for a bit of rest, and offered a guest bed instead of the couch. With a toss of his head, Spike gave something of a sour smirk, ”You know I’ve slept on worse.” Even if she had seen only the times where he and Buffy had intersected, she would know that he and the Slayer had woken up in interesting places more than once. But that wasn’t the crux. The problem was if the vampire really wanted to talk. He had to admit Ginger was right. Talking out his problems would be good somehow, but would it be something Spike could be comfortable with, even with Maddie? The blond vamp shook his head lightly, ”Wouldn’t know where to start, love. But if you want to upgrade me to the guest room, I wouldn’t have a problem with that.”+++ TAGS: Maddie WORD COUNT: 693 NOTES: ~
