It's been over a year since Team Free Will stopped the apocalypse, but things haven't returned to normal. The rules have changed.
The Alpha monsters - progenitors of their species - are recruiting an army. Creatures that haven't been seen in centuries have suddenly awakened and are out for blood. The worst part is they're organized and following orders. There are rumblings about Purgatory and a creature called 'Mother', but their real endgame remains a mystery.
In Heaven, the angels are embroiled in a bloody civil war. Raphael, the last Archangel, intends to use Heaven's weapons to re-start the apocalypse. Castiel, the de-facto new general of Heaven, is doing everything in his powers to stop it.
Down below, Hell is leaderless and this power vacuum has lead to chaos - even by Hell's standards. Those demons who aren't battling for control of the Pit are crawling back to earth and causing as much chaos as they can.
Hunters have their hands full with this one. Nobody's seen anything like it before. Seems like all they can do is take down as many evil bastards as they can. Time to hit the road.
