”And their weaknesses were passed down to those they turned.” Giles assumed. Well, now he knew that the Mystic vampires had more in common with the Hellmouth vampires than he once had thought, that mostly being the weakness of sunlight and stakes. He opened the red notebook and began to scribe down what Elena had just told him concerning the Originals. Calling the species Mystic vampires seemed strangely appropriate, considering their origins were based in mysticism and the town the Originals hailed from was now called Mystic Falls. He would have to think of a nickname to differentiate the third species of vampire later. Returning to the matter at hand, Giles was still struck by one part of the story, ”They must have been very desperate to choose to turn into vampires.”After a bit more deliberation, Giles came back to the subject of the original Hybrid, who seemed to present the most danger, ”So, there may be no way to stop Klaus… besides magic, perhaps.” The watcher ran his thumb down the line of his jaw in thought before continuing, placing his hand back on the cup of coffee, ”Elijah mentioned that witches were an effective way to deal with him.”He allowed himself to give a dry chuckle before answering about the Slayer Organization’s tendency to be secretive, ”Well, as I said, it is our responsibility to fight those who would hurt human kind. We’re a rather extensive organization now, but a few years ago, that wasn’t so. Originally, there was only one girl who would be given the title of Slayer and the powers that were associated with that, while all other potential Slayers had to wait for their predecessor to fall in battle before being called. Normally, the identity of the Slayer, or what a Slayer was, was kept relatively secret to avoid an uprising of demons targeting her before she was properly trained. However, it became apparent that one Slayer was inadequate, and we performed a spell to unlock the powers of all the potential Slayers.””Most humans would not know what a Slayer is at all, so I assume your friends Damon and Stefan are demons or vampires of some kind?” Giles asked, wondering if Elena was concerned that the Slayer Organization would turn on anything supernatural, despite their intentions. She hadn’t really asked that, nor had her tone suggested she was nervous about such things, but the watcher wanted to quash such ideas before they even started. Elena seemed to be a good ally and source of information, and Giles thought it would be much more preferable to keep her that way, ”We have vampires and ex-demons among our ranks as well, and I want assure you that the Slayer Organization does not indiscriminately hunt non-humans. We only target those who would naturally seek to harm others.” +++ TAGS: Elena WORD COUNT: 474 NOTES: ~

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She nodded her head at his explanation. "Right, so their weaknesses and their strengths were heightened when they were turned...though clearly they were able to get around their weaknesses a lot better than most and they were able to enhance their strength a lot more than nature intended for them too." She offered. She hated how strong the originals were. She knew that they had weaknesses and yet because of them knowing what every one of their weaknesses were, they were able to overcome them to make them almost completely immortal. It scared her more than she cared to admit to know that there was essentially NOTHING that could kill them.
"They were desperate not to be killed. They wanted their family to stay together...well...no...let me rephrase that. None of them really had a choice to be honest. It scared their father, Mikael, after his son had been killed and he wanted to make sure no harm could come to them. Unfortunately he didn't listen to the witch that he had propositioned to turn them into vampires so he forced his wife to do it, in order to save their children. So she fixed an elixir mixed with Petrova blood and then Mikael ran a sword through each of his children, essentially killing them. Once they awoke he forced them to drink to complete the transition." She told him, thinking of many similar stories since then that she had heard; Damon and Stefan for instance.
"Witches can only stop him if they are able to channel the power with a hundred dead witches and are able to deliver him to the brink of death. Even then it would only separate him from his heart so to speak, never really kill him." She mused, though really she didn't know. Could the plan work again...the one that they had devised with Elijah even though now Klaus was a true hybrid? She doubted it or else it wouldn't have been imperative that the sacrifice proceeded as planned.
"Damon and Stefan are vampires. Stefan is...was my boyfriend and Damon is his older brother though they were turned at the same time. They were actually turned by my ancestor Katherine, who was the original Petrova doppelganger." She explained. "Though I'm glad to hear about them not hunting vampires who don't harm people. Granted, I can't promise that people haven't ever been harmed because of those within our circle but I can promise that they have not done so consciously." She stated, remembering those that had been hurt by Katherine, Damon, Stefan and Caroline.

Continuing to pen the doppelganger’s words in his simple and tiny handwriting, Giles quietly thought for a moment, analyzing what she had told him, ”Yes, that is a bit of a concern, particularly if those rings work for any other kind of vampire. Of the other two vampires, the only other one that has a true weakness to the sun also has no soul. That is, they have no moral compass and often have warped versions of human aspects like emotions, and most view humans just as livestock. The other two species of vampire seem to have more of a choice in how they live, but with very rare exceptions, a Hellmouth vampire is a singular-minded killer. Having a large number of them being able to attack during the day… it could cause a mass panic.”Giles only quietly sipped the vervained coffee as Elena told more about the origins of the Original Mystic vampires. It was much more of a chilling tale than the beginnings of the other two vampire species. And he could relate the father figure, though Giles could probably never go to such extremes. An attempt, however foolish, to keep his family safe. But then again, it seemed to have harmed his children more than helped them. Giles could go to certain lengths to ensure the protection of his loved ones, but if handed a sword and told to run them through, Giles was incapable of such a thing. Picking up his pen again, Giles replied, ”Fear is a powerful motivator, but often one does not think clearly because of it. Now his children sound like they are in some kind of contention with each other.””Hmm. Interesting.” Giles murmured. Dead witches? Perhaps their powers could be heightened in the afterlife, but perhaps those witches powers lied more in the American Voodoo style of witchcraft, which relied more on the powers of death. Giles had once been endowed with the powers of the Bath Coven, and Willow had learned from them as well, but their school of thought was more from the very power of the Earth and life. The watcher scribbled this as a side note in the red leather notebook before saying, ”I wonder if it would be possible to channel something other than those who have passed away? And stopping Klaus would be enough, I think, rather than killing him. As it sounds, there are limited options for either. However, if you should require allies in defeating him, I know I can at least extend my help, and it is very likely that the Slayers will also lend their assistance.””The vampires in our… ah,” Well, he couldn’t really say employ, nor did Giles consider Angel and Spike to be a true part of the Slayer Organization. There was only a brief pause before the watcher settled on an appropriate definition, ”circle of allies have both gone through long journeys to become men who protect people rather than hurt them. Both Angel, or Angelus in some cases, and Spike became very notorious for their cruel manner of killing innocents. Now they’ve both gained souls and both strive to redeem themselves… or at least they're trying to, if my understanding is correct,” That was certainly true of Angel, but Spike still seemed to be rather inconsistent with his morals. But that wasn’t really the point the watcher was trying to make, ”Regardless, it’s the unfortunate nature of a vampire to have that certain kind of hunger and a willingness to kill. But if they repent… it’s only fair to forgive them, isn’t it?” +++ TAGS: Elena WORD COUNT: 599 NOTES: Now, do I recall right that Elena has met Angel/Angelus?

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Hearing the statement about the other vampires having no moral compass she immediately thought of the vampire who had attacked her at the carnival back on Founder's Day. She hadn't really thought much about it since it happened because really it hadn't been that huge of a deal. Sure it had been frightening and she was glad when Stefan (the lesser of two evils at that moment) saved her...but really she had been expecting to die at the hands of a vampire since she had realized exactly who and what she was...so it hadn't really been that big of a surprise.
"The originals are always at war with each other it seems...but when it comes down to it they will stick by one another to the death. Elijah had made a deal with us and when it came down to it he couldn't follow through, instead standing by his brother and ended up betraying us. He didn't hurt any of us and usually refuses to do so but unfortunately that doesn't go for the other originals. Rebekah has been lied to by Klaus and yet she stands by him through everything. The same goes for Finn and Kol. They may be at war with one another, but don't expect that to save anyone...because when it comes down to it they will ban together to protect their own." She told him honestly.
Hearing the term Angel made her eyes widen. "Wait...huh? Did you say Angel?" She asked him, wanting to be very sure before she addressed her concerns. "Because a vampire with the name Angel...or at least according to him that was his nickname definitely tried to kill me a few weeks ago. Now I'm not sure if they are the same one or not because I'm quite sure that the irony of the name Angel could be used by many vampires but yeah, if that's the case this worries me a bit about accepting help from your organization." She told him honestly, refusing to lie.
She hated to be so blunt but she refused to allow someone she didn’t trust into their inner circle. They had enough problems trusting those that she had grown up with and loved…let alone someone that she didn’t know and didn’t fully trust. Giles seemed like a trustworthy man but she didn’t know any of the others so that concerned her slightly.

The watcher’s eyes narrowed when Elena told him of how Elijah had double crossed them. He assumed the brother he stood by was Klaus, since the Hybrid was the one who had the most controversy centered around him. It was unfortunate, but this news only validated Giles’ stance to keep Elijah at an arm’s length. Not that the Original seemed interested in maintaining a true alliance, but knowing that he had betrayed others in the past made Giles feel more vindicated in his need to keep such threats away from his Slayers. He was certain that there had already been foul play of some kind, something that the others were hiding from him. Giles didn’t need anything else disturbing the balance of his life. Though, he only said a little in reply, ”They are family, after all. It’s only natural.”But after Giles had finished talking about the Scoobies’ vampires, he noted her eyes widen, and nodded when she asked him to confirm. And then Giles listened very closely, his face darkening a touch as he put the strains of information he had together. A vampire with the nickname of Angel. After a great pause and a great deal of thinking, Giles looked back up to Elena, his expression still pensive, ”Yes. That’s understandable. I… I will look into the matter. If it does happen to be the same vampire, there could be dangerous underlying reasons as to why he attacked you. Thank you for letting me know.” It could be that Angel was under the sway of an evil power, much as Spike had been controlled by the first. But what Giles feared more was much more likely. If, somehow, Angelus had been released while he was at the Boarding House, it would explain the sudden disappearances of the potentials, the reason why the Boarding House had been closed down, and why there had been a veritable wall of silence between him and his Slayer. Of course, Angelus made all the pieces fit. There could have been another reason, and Giles was the type of man to exhaust all the possibilities. But the watcher’s history and prejudice against Angelus was making that specific possibility hard to ignore. ”If you should wish to contact me for whatever reason, this is the number for my offices in Richmond. And this is for the coffee,” The watcher placed a card with the phone number for his room at the Boarding House along with a twenty dollar bill. It technically had been serving as his office and it sounded more official than calling it the number for his home. The cash was enough to cover both of their coffees and Giles hoped Elena wouldn’t object to him treating her. With the outrageous amount of money the Watcher’s Council seemed to have and the care Elena had administered to him, it seemed in poor taste to split the bill. ”I’m afraid I have to leave, but thank you, again, for your assistance.” He held out his now bandaged finger before rising from his seat and gathering his things. Nodding his goodbye, Giles made for the front door, not sure if he was going to return to his car or call a cab back to the hotel he had been staying at. Either way, he knew that a difficult set of days were ahead of him. +++ TAGS: Elena WORD COUNT: 561 NOTES: No worries, I think this thread can be closed either now or after your next post :3
