Apparently the finer points of intercommunication were lost on the Gilbert Siblings.
The amount of how little they seemed to notice or even acknowledge outside of their own world wasn't just mind-boggling but quite frankly incredibly hurtful. It was the same self-important arrogance that was prevalent in every bully and close-minded person that dragged others down, and honestly Katherine thought Elena at the very least was better than that. And worse than all of that was the veneer of innocence and deluded superiority complex. They both truly believed their hands were lily white and their venom wasn't damaging. And it was incredibly sad.
The centuries rarely felt this heavy on Katerina, and all she could do was let the genuine emotive smile shatter like so much broken glass to reveal stunned and then resigned firm lines. They heard Jenna and reacted, not actually listening to her comment where she quite clearly said she thought Jenna was better than raising such a disrespectful little punk. But what did it matter? Apparently even Saint Elena was allowed to spit at the vampiric heathen, as long as she wrapped herself tight into the robes of the wounded martyr.
And it made her sick.
This is what happened to my daughter's memory. You're her legacy…
A wave of bile washed through her, scorching the back of her throat as heat pressed in against her eyes. She was so tired. Of all of it. How could a single one of them not understand that they were making her into a monster each and every time they beat her like a damned dog? Her restraint, her efforts meant nothing to these people and she could not keep the pain out of her eyes if she tried. Looking down and away, Katherine withdrew into herself as a very familiar sneer fell over her features. Pulling out her phone, she ignored Jeremy's hypocritical compassion for his cousin as she flicked through her text messages. Satisfied, she slid her iPhone over the table at Elena and glared, silently. And quite honestly hurt.
While the contact info read 'Kris', the number displayed was Caroline's. And the pulled up text that Katherine had sent moments before she was ambushed was in full display. It was simple, in slight if obvious code.
[/blockquote][/ul] Ignoring Jeremy was her only option, as the apparently heartless teenager did nothing to lay up on his sour and confrontational mood. She had been, albeit snarky, but decent to him. And he couldn't even bother to treat her like a person. And the fact that Elena was at least apologetic in tone was enough for her to risk letting the wounded 'cat' look flood her eyes one more time before writing the girl off completely. A fact that would tear the elder woman up in the end. She had failed her daughter, and her friends. Why not quit while I'm ahead?Turning completely away from Jeremy but still speaking loud enough for him to hear her, though not enough for her voice to travel any distance, Katherine took a risk. Chancy but she needed to make sure everything was set in motion for later. Her life actually depended on it. "I'm going to draw him out tonight, Care's got her end in making sure he'll show. While he's busy playing serial killer with me, you should have enough time to snag Stefan and get him out. From there, it's all you guys. Any idea how long I should expect being brutally tortured before I get an extraction? Or should I hire my own private contractors?"To say Katherine was getting bitter was an understatement, as brown eyes flicked across the room taking in all of the naïve young kids surrounding them. Lives ahead of them, hearts beating. No need to run or hide; turn cold and callous to survive. They were lucky, in a way she envied like nothing else. She knew, were it not for Damon and Stefan's petty spite that she could have been another anonymous face to the siblings beside her. How cruel then would they be, if it was someone else? Would he really be able to rationalize to himself the cruel behavior if it was that blonde in the corner on her laptop? Or the brunet boy leaning against the bookshelf with Chaucer propped against his knees? All and all, it was the hypocrisy of it all that made her truly question whether or not she should help. At least Caroline was a kind enough soul to at least try. And for that, Katherine would take to the grave the confidence she put in her when she admitted to making out with Klaus. It was what allies would do; and her errant cheerleading not-so childer was firmly in the 'potential for eventual friendly interaction' column. At least from her end… Taking her phone back, Katherine tried to give herself a reason to stay. At least her voice when talking to Elena held a level of cautious cease-fire Colder than her earlier reception, but not hardened or cruel. At least she had thrown her a bone, a modicum of at least manners unlike her kid brother. That deserved acknowledgement. But one more instance of rudeness, or bitchiness, or pissy attitude and she wasn't just going to not help them get Stefan back; she'd sabotage the entire operation. And where would that get her in the end? They'd expect that, it was probably what they assumed she was up to in the first place. Why think of her as anything more than a monster when it was so damned easy to? Why bother being a decent enough human being to see things from her perspective? She had lost everyone in her life; been betrayed by every single person time and time again. Her first love cared enough to knock her up and leave her a destroyed and damaged woman. Her own family stole her child and banished her countries away to die alone. Hunted and preyed upon by a sadistic creature to be bled out in some ritual. Attempted suicide twice, succeeding and then transitioning into something so warped from who she once was. Elena was her, back when her heart beat. But she survived. She always survived. To have the Salvatores betray her to their father. Poison her. Let her be kidnapped. And while she ran, (and she always ran) having no choice in the end she watched. And waited. And for what? One of the men she loved to sleep with her mirrored reflection? And the other, twisted as her love for him might be, show nothing but viciousness after feeling slighted that he wasn't the Blue Ribbon in her heart? She was still eighteen years old, vampiric centuries be bloody well damned. She was still a Girl. She was still a Person. So why on Earth was it okay to keep kicking her while she was down for sh-ts and giggles? I'm doing this for you because I do love you, Elena. You are still my blood. You are still My family. I've given up on everyone. Don't prove me right.::stop:: Two sides to every coin. ::look:: Outfit ::listen:: Jax typing ::you're it:: Passed from Jer! - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Elena sighed before putting her hand over Jeremy's mouth. "Jer, hush." She told him softly, trying to get him to understand. As much as she wanted Katherine out of Mystic Falls, for numerous reasons, she didn't want her younger brother to act so rudely. Also in reality Katherine was helping her as well as everyone else. Granted in reality she had a feeling it was simply to help out Stefan who Katherine had admitted more than a few times that she loved over anyone, but still, either way the young doppelganger was grateful for her help. She hated to admit it but it was true.
There had been many times over the past year that she would be dead if it wouldn't have been for Katherine. Granted yes, Katherine was the reason that Jenna had almost been killed when she was compelled after Stefan and herself hadn't stayed away from each other, and yes Jenna had been lured out of the house by Katherine when Klaus made her do it, so yes, there were some animosity there for sure, but at the same time she had done things for Elena that were above the call of duty. Katherine had pretended to be Elena not only in the times that it had been convenient her, but times that it hadn't. When Dr. Martin had tried to kill her, Katherine had stepped in. At Homecoming, Katherine had stepped in. And now, she was willing to step in again. Granted it might still all be for Stefan, but in Elena's mind that still made up for a few things that her ancestor had done.
Elena smiled when she pulled her hand away only to have Jeremy tell her to take it easy. "I'm fine Jer, it's a cold." She told him before turning her attention back to her look alike.
At that moment for the first time Elena truly realized what Katherine was. Yes, she was still the same hard vampire she always was, but at the same time she was truly Elena’s family. Realistically she was her great great great something grandmother, and that actually meant something to the young brunette. She knew that if she said any of these out loud that Katherine would scoff at her, but at that moment she almost felt protected by someone other than Stefan and Damon, and it was a nice feeling. It wasn’t the same protection she had under the Salvatore’s, it was more parental which was odd, but still, it was something she had longed for for awhile.
She watched as Katherine slid her phone to her and read it carefully before her eyes widened, realizing that she had completely messed up the plan. She slid it back, looking at Katherine apologetically. "I am so sorry." She told her with another wince. "I didn't realize...Caroline hadn't given me any updates because they thought I was sick." Jesus she really should have stayed in bed. She had gotten that feeling earlier but had ignored it, now knowing she shouldn't have made her feel worse. "I'm sorry." She whispered.
Elena's eyes looked on sorrowfully at her ancestor. "Of course we'll make sure you get out as soon as possible." She told her, wanting nothing more than to reassure her but knowing that it wouldn't be well recieved so she didn't, instead tried to explain as best as she could. "I know Caroline has been talking to Lexi and Lexi is going to be there too. After she knocks Stefan out and gets him in my car, Lexi is planning on making some sort of scene so that K... He has to come investiage it. While she's doing that Damon and Caroline will get you out." She told her, remembering what she knew of the plan.
She took a breath before releasing it. "You have no idea how much I appreciate this Katherine. I know I'm not your favorite person in the world...I understand that. Yet you're helping me, helping Stefan, and for that I will be eternally grateful… so thank you." She whispered, hoping her words wouldn't get thrown back in her face.

---------------------- ---------------------- Jeremy knew he was being pretty harsh to Katherine, but he just couldn’t help it. No matter how many time she said she was on there side he would never fully let himself trust her. Because it seemed like the only time she was ever on there side was when it benefited to her, and right now the only reason she was helping them was because of Klaus. She hated him and wanted to get back at him for everything he had don’t to her. Which Jeremy was some what happy about considering he really wanted him dead, because that would make ever ones lives a lot better.
Jeremy could tell that Katherine was pretty ignoring him right now, she really only was talking to Elena now and was acting like he wasn’t even in the room. Which was fine he really couldn’t care less, because that was the thing about Katherine that made him a lot different then everyone else. Katherine didn’t get to him nor did she scare him, and the funny thing was she knew that. Which was probably part the reason Katherine didn’t like him so much, she knew that she didn’t sacred or bother Jeremy.
It seemed like Elena was really happy to have Katherine on there side, but who could blame her she wanted to find anyway that she could to get Stefan back. And ever though Vampires aren’t Jeremy’s favorite thing in the world he still wanted to help Elena find him, He knew how much Elena loved him. So he would do whatever he could to make his sister happy.
Jeremy then closed his book and put it back in his back pack, along with the rest of his school books. He was done studying, but he knew before he left he might want to try and get along with Katherine. She did want to help Elena after all.“ Katherine I do what to find away to help Stefan for Elena, so thank you for helping me sister. I just hope that we can trust you and we wont regret it. You can blame or get mad for looking out for her.” Jeremy said to the vampire hoping they wouldn’t keep fighting, for Elena’s sake.

And then they have to go and act like People…
Katherine sighed softly, as all her self-righteous indignation drained out of her sails. She was acting incredibly defensive. Arguably rightfully so, but still defensive. She wasn't expecting the third degree from someone so close to her Greatgrand-baby, especially since Jeremy was the expert on her errant blood. They had all screwed this up and acting like kids because that was exactly what they all were, teenagers caught up in millennia of supernatural bull. While it took a significant effort on her part, Katherine relaxed, forcibly trying to will five hundred years of independent behaviors out of her mind.
"Elena…" As her name passed her lips, Katherine felt her Bulgarian accent dance over her tongue, sparking over the trio of syllables. It wasn't so much chiding as concerned, the tone that spoke of concern and the knowledge that the recipient was far too stubborn to listen. "It's alright, I'm alright. Everything is going to be alright. Neither of you put me in anymore danger than I did willingly to myself. You don't need to apologize to me. Understand?" The look that she gave her was pointed but deliberate, eyes making sure to lock with her descendant, even so much as dipping her chin to make sure the eye contact was well and fully established. Any other person would need to worry about compulsion, but the thought of taking that freedom away from her sent bile to burn in Katherine's throat. Reaching out, Katherine took a risk and cupped Elena's chin. Gentle, with cold and firm pressure. Fingers braced under the curve of bone, thumb resting softly beneath her lower lip.
Once she was certain she had Elena's attention, Katherine let her hand fall away, waving in the air as if dismissing the concerns mentioned about her rescue. "Then I'll be fine. Although considering where I'm going and what's going to happen are you sure Lexi's the best choice? I mean… a car ride back to safety listening to Bon Jovi's greatest hits and ironic vampire T-Shirts; won't i be tortured enough?" The smirk that danced over her features was beyond playful, tone beautifully sarcastic. While Lexi and Katherine had never been accused of being friends, the Punky little Vamp had a swagger Katherine could at least give a nod of respect. And she cared about Stefan, which was always a large plus in her column. "I've got someone who might be an asset they can call in. He's a Hunter but I trust him, and those two will probably need the extra set of eyes on lookout while they snark at each other till the sun comes up." A few quick taps on her iPhone and Katherine pulled up info on a contact named 'Sam', before handing it back to Elena.
Gazing over at Jeremy, Katherine gave the kid one more deep look. Absorbing the attitude and trying to see the reason behind it. Yes he was a bristly, grumpy, crabby teenaged boy; but he was a brother. And while he might be defaulting towards moody, she could understand why. Even if she didn't want to acknowledge it out loud. "I get it, you know. But you need to understand something Kiddo. She may be your sister by her heart and your cousin by her blood. But that's my blood in there too. And my Daughter's blood. Hate me if you want, don't trust me worth a damn; but I would rather die than lose her from this world, and you can trust in that."
Feeling exposed and quite frankly all those pesky emotions, Katherine was caught off again at Elena's words. Looking at her, she blinked a few times incredulously. Elena actually thought she didn't like her. There was some things, honestly, that Katherine was a touch bitter about but the thought that she truly believed her incapable of caring was a bucket of ice water. The need to be honest with her was overpowering, and Katherine trusted her gut. Consequences be Damned."Elena you're my Family. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a little sore about Stefan picking you and those boys filling your head with all sorts of nastiness about me, but that's between them and me. You aren't the problem. And you don't need to thank me. I loved them. Past tense. It has to be that way. And while I might regret a few things, I have never regretted helping you."
Wrinkling up her nose, Katherine squirmed in her seat slightly, unsure of what to do about all of the emotional laundry piled up between the three of them. While she could acknowledge it honestly, the urge to be a snarky git to lighten the mood became the only thing to stop the pounding in her head. "We're going to hug now, aren't we?" The tone was incredibly see-through 'put upon and grumpy', eyebrow quirking up in question as she frowned. Even that looking far from genuine irritation. Crossing her arms over her chest, a very obvious sign of awkwardness, she crossed one leg over the other and let her foot bounce along in time to some discordant music only she could hear.
Leave it to the Gilberts to make me feel feelings, I need a drink…

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She stared at her ancestor for a long time before turning her attention to Jeremy. "Jer." She told him, almost in a whisper. "I trust her." She replied, realizing that for the first time she truly did. She trusted that Katherine would keep her word and that was something that was huge and would have caused a lot more of an outward reaction if she hadn't known that she needed to keep a low profile in order for the plan to work. "So even if you don't...then trust me. I trust her...she won't let us down..." She told him before turning her attention back to her look alike.
She heard her name pass through Katherine's lips and could detect the accent underneath. For some reason it made her feel as if she had passed some sort of test which was odd but she couldn't help feel a little proud. She nodded her head as she listened to the woman tell her she hadn't put her in anymore danger than she had entered willingly. "I still feel bad, but I promise to try and stop apologizing...at least for things that I didn't technically do on purpose." She told her with a small smile, hoping it would be enough. She felt her chin being raised and realized Katherine was making sure she was looking at her fully.
Anyone else would be worried about compulsion and for good reason. Vampires needed to look you in the eye to compel you. However Elena wasn't worried...and not because she was taking vervain every day. She just knew somehow that Katherine wouldn't compel her...she never had. She wouldn't take that freedom away from her...and she realized with a start that Katherine could have a long time ago...yet she didn't. How hard was it to take a necklace off a sleeping individual? It wasn't. Katherine had deliberately kept from compelling her, and that knowledge made her heart swell for the older vampire.
She laughed softly when Katherine asked about Lexi and being tortured. "I promise to ask her if she'll keep the Bon Jovi to a minimum and try not to wear the vampire tshirts. Though you do have to admit, they are fairly amusing." She stated, her eyes alight with laughter. "However she won't let you down...because she loves Stefan. So she'll make sure you're safe." She told her, not mentioning that Lexi would also do it for her. Elena and Lexi had become quite close over the past few weeks and Lexi would do whatever it was to make her happy, meaning that she would make sure that Katherine was safe.
She took the phone, noting with a start that she had heard the name Sam before. She tilted her head to the side, trying to remember before her eyes lit up. "Wait...a hunter?" She asked. "Is his brother's name Dean? If so Lexi knows him...well she knows Dean at least. They met in a bar shocker." She told her with a smile. "So at least that's two more people who will help."
She noted that Katherine had turned her attention over to Jeremy and her heart swelled with affection for not only her ancestor, but her brother too. Yes, they were cousins in blood, but siblings in heart. Yet Katherine was the only parental figure she had left in this world...and she'd be damned if that was taken away from her.
Her eyes stared into her ancestors as she bore her heart to her and as much as she wanted to continue to put on a mask, she couldn't. Her eyes welled with tears that she refused to let fall. She smiled a bit when Katherine with her usual snark asked if they were going to hug now. To be honest if it had been anyone else she would have most likely thrown her arms around them and hugged them for all that they were worth...however she was second guessing that notion now and instead put her hand over her ancestors. "You're the only parent that I have left Katherine..." She simply stated, staring into identical eyes.

---------------------- ---------------------- Jeremy sat there still not really knowing what to say or trust, he was sacred he would and it would come back to bite him on the ass. But then Elena had whispered to him saying they could trust her, and if his sister felt that way he was going to go with it. He was really surprised to how Katherine was being to Elena, almost like she really loved and cared for her. It seemed as though this time Jeremy was very wrong, she did very much want to help them. It wasn’t just about doing this to her advantage in getting what she needed. Which is something he never though would happen, it seemed every time He has seen Katherine she was doing something for her and no one else.
Then Katherine had said something about help from a hunter, he wasn’t to sure about this. He didn’t know what kind of hunter she had meant just yet, was she was talking about the Michael kind of hunter or the kind like Alaric. Because if it is more help like Alaric they could use the extra help right now. But it seemed Elena had heard of him too which was good, it meant that it was someone that they could trust which they needed.
Jeremy listened when Katherine begin to tell him why Elena was important her, he really thought it was sweet showing how she cared. He never thought she would say the things she was to Jeremy about his sister. He gave the vampire a real serious look “ I know she is your blood and I don’t hate you, just promises me that you really are going to keep her safe no matter what Before anyone else. Even if that means turning on Stefan and Damon?” He said that wanting to see what she would say, because he knew how she felt about them. She usually did whatever she had to in keeping them safe, turn on whoever she had to at that time.
Katherine then had said they should all just hug, He laughed a bit when she said that. “Sure why not Katherine I don’t think you will bit me “ He said opening his arms then looking to Elena as well with a smile. He really was happy to have Katherine on there side for once.

If someone had told Katherine that she would be here, genuinely enjoying the company of as well as the overwhelming feeling of protectiveness for Elena and Jeremy Gilbert; she would probably tear something laughing at the absurdity of the suggestion. But here she was, doing those very things, and she couldn't be happier. Truly looking at the pair of them, Katherine felt a stirring in her heart that washed her in revelation and emotion. All this time she had been searching for a place in this world, somewhere she could call home. Someone she could call family. And without meaning to, she had finally found it. Against the odds, she Belonged. And no one was going to take that away from her.
"I know Lexi has this, I wouldn't want anyone else at our backs. Just don't tell her that." The frown flashed back into a smirk before perking up at the mention of the boys. She nodded when Elena mentioned Dean, happy the Winchesters at least had a vague introduction into their world. She would probably need to fill Sam in on all the details later, and Katherine made a mental note to head over to see him as soon as the trio broke off to their separate ways for the day. "That's them. The Winchesters. Sweet boys, loyal too. They won't let us down and they're damn good at what they do." During their brief but incredibly fun meeting she had pulled her normal fraternal tease war over pool and drinks, and she couldn't help but offer up a benediction to the patron saint of flirtation for running into them. She'd have to come clean about the 'Vampire' thing, but their were much worse sins on her hands, a bit of honesty wouldn't hurt.
When Elena's eyes glassed over with tears and Jeremy gave her a real chance, a true and slightly goofy smile pulled at her lips. It was a smile that Elena so easily fell into; a smile of a girl long since gone. The pull at her cheeks stung for a moment, but the vampire didn't care. She missed this, more dearly than she could ever explain. It was as if the siblings had washed away the agony and fear of the Mikaelsons in nothing more than their acceptance. It sealed something permanent within her, a decision that settled soft as a whisper but with the certainty centuries. Turning her hand over to cup Elena's, she squeezed it softly with her own glimmer of tears washing over honey brown eyes.
"Obicham te, Elena. You have no idea how much it means to me to hear that." Giving it to her instincts, Katherine threw caution into the wind. Something could go wrong. The plan could fail. And if she let this moment go, Katerina would regret it for the rest of her unnatural life. Carefully, she guided her dopplegänger into her arms in a surprisingly warm hug, pressing a soft kiss to her brow.
"Yes." The response to Jeremy's question was both simple and easy. With all the times they turned on her, she understood where she fell when it came to their concern. It wasn't her only deciding factor, but it was certainly one of them. Looking over at Jeremy with his arms wide and remarkably Petrova look on his face, she laughed. A low bell-like sound that she herself forgot lived within her. Reaching out with her left arm, she pulled the young man who gave her the most remarkable emotion whiplash into her arms to curl against his sister.
They were Hers. And if anyone tried to hurt them, there would be a reckoning. If they were lucky, Hell would show them mercy; for within the vampire's heart there would be None.
In the cradle of her arms, she reached up with both hands to cup each of their cheeks, nose wrinkling in amusement. "You should get back to bed. Maybe you two can curl up together? Help your brother with his history and get the rest you need. I'll go take care of the Winchesters. Alright?"

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Her eyes flashed to Jeremy's when he told Katherine to protect her over Stefan and Damon. "You know I would never want anyone to turn on Stefan and Damon even if it meant saving my life." She hissed at him, a bit angry at the implications that at one time it would be either her or Stefan or Damon. She didn't want that held over her head and she prayed with everything in her that it would never come to that. She had enough guilt on her shoulders between her parent’s car accident, Jenna’s deaths, both the time she was killed and turning into a vampire and the second time her heart was ripped out by Klaus, John’s death, who died to save her, and all of her friends being thrust into a world that they didn’t ask for simply because she was born a doppelganger.
She giggled at Katherine's comment about Lexi. "I won't tell her, don't worry." She replied, laughing at the thought of Lexi and Katherine getting along. She could clearly remember Stefan telling her both about Lexi calling Katherine a little bitch and Katherine calling Lexi a wench. She had a feeling these two would have an odd relationship no matter what happened...then again...Lexi seemed to have an odd relationship with everyone. Come to think of it...she had a feeling it was just that Lexi was an odd person...nothing more to say about it. "Lexi apparently saved their father awhile back and then ran into Dean in a bar. She did mention though that Dean has no idea she's a vampire but his father did so I have no idea if that's going to be an issue or not." She told her with a shrug, figuring she'd let Lexi and Katherine deal with the two hunters.
She heard unfamiliar words in Katherine's Bulgarian accent but had no idea what they meant. She had a feeling she knew, but truly she didn't as she had never learned another language other than the small bit of Spanish during Freshman year. However when she felt the woman's arms wrap around her in a hug that could only be described as loving, she knew. She knew with every fiber of her being what she had said and tears finally fell down her cheeks. "I love you too." She whispered, biting her tongue to keep her from calling the other woman mom.
Pulling away she laughed a bit, wiping her cheeks, her face red from not only her tears but her fever that she realized was slowly spiking back up again. Before she could answer the older woman her phone vibrated in her pocket with a message from Damon telling her that she was in trouble as she had been under strict orders not to leave the house. Rolling her eyes she showed Katherine and Jeremy the message before replying to what her ancestor had said. “Yeah, it’s probably time for me to get back in bed. I’m suddenly not feeling so well.” She told her sheepishly, clearly realizing that she should have never gone out today. With that being said however she didn’t regret it…because in the time she had been gone, she had found something she had desperately needed.
She had found a parent…no…she had found her mother.

---------------------- ---------------------- It was great to see how much emotions and feelings that Katherine had for his sister right now, Elena seemed really happy to have her there for her. Unlike there bad past they all had with her, Katherine really was showing a side no one might ever think to see from her. All though it made sense to why Stefan might have had feelings for a person like her, he could really see that deep down she was a good person. But that was more when Stefan wasn’t a ripper and was a good person, now he don’t care about anything but himself. Which makes Jeremy want to kill him, but for his sisters sake he wont just yet.
Jeremy watched as Katherine pulled in to hug Elena, it really was a sweet moment to how much she really did care for her. It really was nice to know that they had someone else on there side and not against them for once, because lord knows most of the time they have enemies. She had said something to his sister that he really couldn’t make out, but whatever it was it did seem like it meant a good thing by the sound of it. But then Elena had said I love you back which had told him what it really meant. Jeremy couldn’t lie if really was hard for him not to shed tears right now, just by how sweet she was being to her. Plus it really was getting to him knowing his sister was very emotional with all this.
But then Katherine had put out her arms waiting for a hug from Jeremy, he was a bit suspired not really thinking she would want one from him even though he asked. But she did want one after all, so he walked up to her giving her a hug as well. He couldn’t lie it was kind of strange getting a hug from her after all, but it was nice. But then he showed her his softer side to her, which was something he didn’t do to anyone really other then Elena. “Thanks so much for being here for Elena , it really means a lot to us.” Jeremy let up from the hug with a smile on his face.
Katherine was right it might be smart for them to maybe get home soon, Elena had been feeling under the weather. But he knew his sister did really want to stop talking with her just yet. “Don’t worry I will make sure Elena gets rest, and yes I will brush up on my history just for you. But you know you need to come by the house more often, the door is always open to you ok.” Then he had in idea. “You know Katherine if you want you can walk home with us, maybe you could tell me a bit more about my history."

"You're welcome, Jer." The words were serious and soft spoken, something once more Katherine never thought she would be able to do towards Jeremy Gilbert but now bizarrely easy. Perhaps this was how it always looked to the older generation; how quickly the young could grow and surpass any expectations of them. It gave her a sense of hope, knowing that somehow Fate (the fact that she was giving that outdated premise faith said a lot about her current mindset) had found the perfect family for her descendant. They were all connected, their dysfunctional family, and if they worked together maybe all hope wouldn't be lost after all.
When Jeremy gave her the invitation to stop by their home, Katherine couldn't keep the smile off her face if she tried. A quick nod was her answer to his pledge of homework and nursemaiding, before Katherine peeled the soft and warm coat off her shoulders. "Sounds like a plan, but here. This should keep you warm." Sweeping up onto her feet, Katherine felt the chill air of the library raise the hair on her exposed arms. The lick of a breeze felt wonderful, clearing her head in an unexpected way. Offering a hand up, Katherine stuck the other in the back pocket of her jeans. Her lapis lazuli bracelet obvious on her right wrist until the fall of her tank top spilled over it. She would need to hide in plain sight as best she could; keeping the jewelry as obscured as possible was neither the first or last time she played this type of game. Though usually what hunted her was significantly less Hybrid shaped.
The idea of something so normal as walking home with friends hit Katherine with between the eyes. The fact that she kept focusing on how bizarrely wonderful this all had become was probably becoming obnoxious; but after a lifetime of never belonging, the novelty was far from running out. While it was hinting back to a conversation from some time ago, Katherine brought the subject back up again before forgetting completely. "Truth be told, I didn't tell them about me either, when we first met. Mostly because Dean's got a problem with anyone less than human. But I need to talk to Sam and confess today. Especially since I need his help. And maybe if we bat our collective lashes at Damon he'll make up some more anti-hybrid cocktails?" She hadn't taken the chance with planning out loud in some time, finding the experience of building plans with someone else oddly fun.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Elena smiled at her cousin...brother in everything but blood. She knew that it had to be hard for him to simply deal with Katherine for her stake. She knew that he didn't trust her and honestly she really couldn't blame him. There had been a lot of things that she herself wasn't sure if she would ever truly forgive her ancestor for. A lot of things had happened that could have been avoided. However she also knew better than anyone the value of forgiveness and that was what she intended to use in this situation. Everyone made mistakes, but it was how you handled the situation after the mistake that made you who you are.
Hearing Katherine and Jeremy discussing things such as her health and Jeremy's history made her smile though it turned into a cough really quickly. Turning her head away from the two as to not cough on them she covered her mouth, trying to keep herself from getting too loud. She knew the librarian was a stickler for the 'no talking in the library' rule that most librarians were so fond of. She took a deep breath after the tickle in her throat had subsided for the moment and turned back around to face the two. “Sorry.” She told them apologetically, her face flushing a tiny bit pink in embarrassment.
"Damon and I are about ready to come to blows so you might be the one who has to bat your eyelashes at him to see if he'll make up a few anti-hybrid things." She told her with a laugh. "He's a bit angry with me at the moment so I doubt he's going to do anything I ask him to do. You however, he might still like you today so...then again he may just be drunk and think I'm you or your me. God knows with him." She rambled on before turning around again quickly, coughing again. Grabbing some hand sanitizer out of her purse she rubbed her hands together, ridding them of the germs before turning back around.
She motioned for Katherine and Jeremy to follow her, needing to get out of the library and into some fresh air before she exploded everywhere with either a sneeze, a coughing fit, or simply because she had energy but no place to use it. Once outside she turned her attention back to her two...well...family members. "As for Sam and Dean...you probably should tell them not only about your vampire status but also about the fact that you have a twin running around." She told her with a laugh, looking at the identical face staring back at her. It was eerie in a way, like looking in the mirror only not.

---------------------- ---------------------- Jeremy was happy to heat that she was going to be walking home with them, it would give them a chance to talk and catch up more on stuff. He could tell that Elena was really enjoying talking with her, it was almost like she had a mom like figure to her. Katherine then handed back Jeremy’s coat to him, forgetting that she was even wearing it. “Thanks I totally forgot about my coat, it was meant to be for her with her being under the weather and all.” He then handed his coat to his sister with a smile, knowing she needed it more then him. He could tell just by the way she was coughing. “Here you go put this on, its kind of chilly outside today. We cant have you getting worse.”
Jeremy listened as she told them more about these two guys Sam and Dean , it seemed as though Katherine really had trusted them. But as always he was worried weather or not they could be trusted, with there luck you really couldn’t trust anyone right away. “Yeah Katherine I wouldn’t tell anyone what you are if they cant be trusted fully, other wise you might end up dead and that wouldn’t be good for anyone. So just watch your back ok.” Shortly after Elena began to cough again, he knew that he needed to get his sister home and fast. She didn’t sound well at all, but being stressed out can do that. “Come on lets get you some fresh air.” Jeremy said as he put his arm round her.
They all walked out side making there way home, and It was a chilly day in the falls but it did feel nice. It was a great weather just to take a walk while and listen to the Ipod. Or Maybe sit underneath a tree and draw something, which to Jeremy sounded like a great idea. It might be something he goes and does later, that is after he gets Elena into a bed resting. Plus if she finds out he want to go out late she will freak and not let him, she will be too worried that something might happened to him. But in this town could he really blame her, so if he even wants to think about going it will be best to wait after she is asleep. He just hopes he don’t get caught, other wise Elena will not be pleased.

"Well, it's worth a shot. Here's hoping he's not feeling particularly moody today." Katherine nodded once, eyes closing and face turning up to the sun as soon as they were past the confines of the school. It was a few seconds of enjoying the warmth before she came back to herself. She would need to hide her bracelet, maybe give it to a member of the rescue team to give back on her pick-up. Because if Klaus managed to get his grubby little hands on it, her blessed accessory was ending up at the bottom of the Atlantic or a pile of useless blue powder. The next time she felt the rays of the sun they would most likely be scorching her flesh, might as well enjoy the comfort while it lasted. Turning to face Jeremy, she nodded and smiled softly at his concern. He was right, she needed to play this smart and incredibly cautious. The chances of the Brothers betraying her was still significant enough to be a concern, but the thought of Sam being the one to do it filled her with a bizarre sense of dread. Or worse, him looking at her the way Damon still did…
"So, okay. Talk my ex into playing nice, tell a pair of incredibly efficient Hunters I'm a vampire, and that I might not be me the next time they see us. Got it. Maybe if i have time, I can even get in a mani-pedi before I head off to my date with Klaus. Eh, girl can dream." Her tone was silly and incredibly playful, without an ounce of bitterness about a thing. All and all, this was a type of fun even if it meant bodily harm. It was still a way to feel and it helped Family, what more could she ask for? As Elena continued to cough, Katherine mentally ticked through the pros and cons of giving her descendant her blood. There was a small chance it might help, or it could make everything progress faster than expected.
Thinking through her options, Katherine decided on the more mundane of suggestions. "You should try a steam room, Elena. With eucalyptus. It'll help your lungs clear out and it's soothing too. Plus I think they have those tabs you can just pop in the shower with you. It should help… " To the preternatural woman who hadn't felt sick in centuries, it was only hearsay that it would work as opposed to actual experience. But the cough had her worried enough to keep talking. "My mother had a cough like that once, I think I remember the tea she drank. I can make some… if you want." She felt awkward at first, genuinely trying to help while feeling out how to actually be with someone she considered to be Hers and protective of. For all her pregnancy and even siring other vampires, Katherine had never had an opportunity to truly mother someone. She felt stunted and incredibly self-conscious. But the heart was there. Hopefully that would be enough.
All and all, Katherine had so much on her mind it was oddly relieving. By worrying about Elena and feeling bizarrely protective (after wanting to punt him over a fence) towards Jeremy, it was an excuse for her not to stress over Klaus. Or Damon's current cold attitude. Or even Dean's guaranteed freakout or Sam's possible disinterest. Hell, not even the bizarrely fun shopping trip with Bekah (how that managed to be fun, Katherine would never understand) or the horrors that Kol insisted she took part in all seemed so trivial now. Though the necessary dissociation and extreme self-hatred had a great deal to do with that last one. Because in the warmth of the Virginian Sun and the company of kin, Katherine could let go and be Katerina. Enjoying a walk with her, albeit ill, descendant and newfound comrade. Life could be worse. It would be, in a few hours. So she was going to milk every last wonderful moment she could.
"Good day, all things considered." The illness, the sociopath, the teenage angst. Yeah, still a damned Good Day.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Walking down the street with her ancestor and her cousin slash brother, it was clear to her that she was clearly not in the realm of having a normal life anymore. Sure she had known that for awhile, especially since she had found out that she was dating a vampire who had a vampire brother who wanted to be with her. Her best friend was a witch, her other best friend was a vampire, she was a doppelganger and had been adopted by her biological father’s brother and sister in law. Yeah, her life was nothing if not completely un-normal.
She put the hood of her sweat shirt over her head a bit more, trying to block out who she was. No one in Mystic Falls knew that she had a doppelganger so clearly she couldn’t walk around arm in arm with Katherine as that would be a bit much for the townsfolk of Mystic Falls. Shaking her head she felt another cough coming through and tried to quell it but to no avail. Feeling the hacking in her lungs was definitely not at all comfortable in her expert opinion. Groaning to herself she knew she needed to get the hell home and into bed. She was probably contagious and she hated that Jeremy would most likely get sick but really, where else was he going to go?
“Alrighty everyone, this is our stop.” She stated before giving Katherine a short hug. “Be careful.” She told her quietly before taking a chance and kissing her softly on the cheek. “Keep me posted?” She asked hopefully before smiling, waving her hand once before heading into the house, shutting the door behind her and Jeremy and fell into the couch, wanting to fall asleep and wake up the next morning healthy.
Damn she hated being sick.
