”Dropped some mystical angel food coloring in there?” The vampire joshed Gabriel again. It was kind of getting addicting. Normally, Spike was used to the Sunnydale gang sparring witticisms back and forth with him, but Gabriel, it seemed, was a little different. Less snarky and sarcastic and more like a little kid. Not immature, but outright honesty. He seemed to remember someone saying he was the youngest archangel, so it made sense. But everything the angel said kind of struck Spike as having this truthfulness to it, this straightforward , no bullshit truth that made Spike feel assured and, yet at the same time, to pick at whatever was said. Such was the vampire’s nature. He was a bit put back by Gabriel’s defense of Lucifer, though by the way it sounded, the angel, or whatever Lucifer was, was evil. But familial ties and all. Spike could somewhat understand, ”You sound like such a happy household,” Spike rolled his eyes, not outright insulting the angel’s family, but being sarcastic anyways. He settled back down a bit, and continued with a tilt of his head, ”Don’t get mad, sugar-tooth. Everyone has a dysfunctional family. Hell, I’ve had… three or so of them. Good times and bad times abound, but you love each other anyway, even if it’s a sick, twisted, incestuous… well… things always get messy, let’s say that.””Nor alcohol or smokes, I imagine,” Spike sniffed, finally setting the vodka bottle down in the slightly wet sand of the beach. He had come out here to smoke a bit, and since the angel didn’t seem to need to breathe, he thought as long as the smoke didn’t get into his face, Gabriel probably wouldn’t mind. He popped out one of the fags and lit it deftly, just letting it hang in his mouth and absorbing its warmth. He was already pretty warm from the alcohol, but this was even better. You could never have too much of a good thing, particularly when you were a walking dead man. He turned his eyes back to Gabriel when he said that he would end up in purgatory, ”Really? You know that for sure? If it’s like what people say it is… I suppose I could get on there.” ”Meant what I said.” The vampire put a little more strongly when the archangel , ”If she says she needs my help, I’ll be there. I don’t think the Slayerettes are going to be moving from Richmond anytime soon, so… just know that I’m her friend too.”Although relatively quiet while listening to Gabriel threaten him, eventually, Spike pursed his lips a bit and gave a little scoff, ”I’ve gotten my hands cut off, been crushed under a pipe organ—and oh yeah, I saved the world by being liquefied and then exploding and wiping an entire town off the face of the world. And then for my troubles, I went to hell. I’m sure you’ve got many creative ways to hurt me, but I think I’ve been through a little bit of pain before. But, yeah, I think I’ll take the bender with this Dean fellow over the time-warp torture.””Okay, mate, if you didn’t want to, you should have said as much,“ The vampire grinned. The more the liquor was affecting him, the more he was forgetting that the person next to him could dust him, bring him back and dust him again. Although, in the end he merely shrugged, ”I suppose I shouldn’t blow myself up again. And learn to take some of what I say with a grain of salt, man. Everyone else does.” Spike gave another pause to take a drag on his cigarette, ”You keep looking around. Are you thinking they’ll just ambush you? No offense to you, but if a bunch of angry angels show up, I’m getting the hell out of dodge before they poke me and I poof into a big pile of ashes.”+++ TAGS: Gabriel WORD COUNT: 659 NOTES: Getting drunker…

Gabriel laughed at Spike’s statement. He shook his head. “something like that.” Gabriel replied with a small laugh. He really was liking the vampire more and more. In some ways, Spike reminded him of well… himself. He could really see him, Dean and Spike getting along great, having a guy’s night, as Dean would describe it. The youngest archangel never really hung around humans much until he had met Maddie, and then he had started hanging out with Dean, and now he was talking to a vampire. It wasn’t that Gabriel didn’t like them, he chose them over Lucifer’s temper tantrum, which got him killed, he just never really saw himself hanging out or around them much.
Gabriel looked at Spike’s face when he defended Lucifer. What was the vampire expecting? Gabriel loved Lucifer and Lucifer loved Gabriel. It was Lucifer who taught Gabriel everything that he knew about everything, all his tricks he learned from his older brother, the second oldest angel and the favorite among the angels as well. “what? I love Lucifer, he’s my brother and taught me a lot. I was closer to him than any other angel.” Gabriel said about Lucifer, to Spike.
“I know you didn’t, but seriously watch yourself. You don’t know any of them to pass judgement.” Gabriel replied, leaving it at that. His family wasn’t really something that the youngest archangel really wanted to talk about. They just weren’t there for him, never there for him except Lucifer. Gabriel turned and looked at the water. He knew that father cared about him. Father was the one that brought him back from the dead. He wondered why. Gabriel usually saw himself as a wasted space, something that shouldn’t be there, just put into time again. He never got an answer from Joshua when he visited heaven after he appeared on earth again and Joshua said that God refused to answer it, and assumed that it was because Gabriel was the messenger. Gabriel just lived with that. He also knew that when he died that Michael and Raphael probably didn’t care. He knew that Raphael wouldn’t care now. Michael? Well Michael was a different story. Gabriel felt close to the oldest angel, but it wasn’t the same as him and Lucifer. Gabriel couldn’t explain why. It was probably because Michael was the oldest, and more mature than Gabriel and Lucifer were. The youngest archangel also wondered if he was just brought into existence because of Lucifer, like Lucifer wanted a younger brother to teach and to be closer too. Gabriel could live with that. They had some great times together.
Gabriel looked at Spike as he was snapped out of his thoughts. He nodded to his statement about the alcohol and smokes and then stopped himself. “no, sorry, yeah they do exist in heaven. I guess chocolate and that stuff does. See heaven is like Disney world, you know the center being Magic Kingdom and all? Except its every soul’s own version of heaven and then the center is Eden.” Gabriel said to Spike trying to explain it all. It was basically what people’s souls created for them as their heaven. “oh no, you don’t want Purgatory. You want hell more. Purgatory is like a jail. Its horrible. Rendered powerless. Being hunted. Not fun.” Gabriel said to Spike thinking about it.
Gabriel smiled to him. that’s what he wanted to hear. “I’m glad. She needs more friends. I think she is lucky to have you, honestly.” The Trickster said to him. “Have you met her family? Dude, the cousins are insane, well just one.” Gabriel said to Spike. “even I’m terrified of her. Bitch got rage issues.” the archangel commented on Maddie’s cousin. “and magic. Rage magic.” Gabriel finished.
Gabriel listened to him and thought a moment. Dude, he was going to have to do something completely worse than that. “well, then TV land it is.” Gabriel smiled. That was one of the best things he has ever done. Trapping Sam and Dean in a TV land and watching them play their “roles” was hilarious. He loved the nutcracker show. That was the best. That and Dr. Sexy. Dr. Sexy is one of his favorite programs ever. Maddie didn’t get it. She never watches it and not into that kind of stuff. She really is one of a kind.
“I don’t want to. Like I said. Its been a while. You don’t know how hard it really is. A soul is a pure energy source. Sure, it gives angels a great amount of power but you got to know how to get the power with out destroying the entire fuckin’ planet.” Gabriel replied. He wasn’t afraid to admit that he was scared over touching a soul. If only they knew. He could describe how bad it really is. Its not a fun thing for angels and for humans. Causes horrible amounts of pain for a human and the angel has to concentrate really, really hard to do it. Gabriel then looked at Spike again when he asked commented on him looking around and stuff. “no, I don’t think so. Angels could be anywhere though. I guess there is no sense since I could sense them.” the archangel said before adding “I was just thinking.”

Spike shrugged. He supposed with angels it would be different, but Spike had a completely opposite view on things, ”I had someone who taught me a lot. He tried to kill me just a couple of weeks ago.” This, though he wasn't sure if the archangel knew it, was in reference to Angelus. The two of them weren’t exactly family, but in the beginning, Angelus had taught the young William everything about what their kind was, since Spike’s direct sire was incapable of teaching him. How to pick the right prey and how to kill for pleasure. In the beginning, Spike had believed Angelus would be a true friend to him. And then his mentor betrayed him. And kept betraying him and treated him like dirt. Even with a soul, Angel still looked down on Spike. Their familial bond and knowledge of each other only bred contempt between the two of them. They weren’t brothers, of course, but the Whirlwind was the first time he had ever been accepted by anyone besides his mother. Well, Dru was probably the only one that truly accepted him, but Darla and Angelus didn’t outright reject him either. It was funny how the angel described Heaven like Disney Land. Spike, personally had never been, but had seen it on the telly. It didn’t seem like the happiest place on Earth to the vampire, but his definition of happiness had always been skewed from the average person, ”I see. But you don’t get to have sweets and chocolates.” The vampire thought that Archangels probably had responsibilities and a chocolate addiction would probably distract, ”What do you do up there, anyway? I mean, you have a job to do, right?””Really? I always thought purgatory was one of those endless white room sort of deals.” Spike spoke around his cigarette, letting the smoke curl up around his face. It felt warm, as opposed to the chilled ocean breeze, ”Bloody humans always getting everything wrong.” His eyes flitted back to the angel as he commended Spike for being friends with Maddie, ”Well, ta.” The vampire thanked Gabriel, a bit bewildered by the statements. He didn’t think he had ever, ever in one hundred and fifty some odd years of living been told that someone was glad and lucky to have him as a friend. Perhaps he would have blushed, if vampires could actually do that. But instead, he was just left with a sense of self reassurance. If a powerful, world warping Angel thought that Spike was decent, perhaps he was on his way to being a respectable person again. Then again, he remembered Maddie saying that Gabriel associated with lowlifes of all sorts and the bloke also seemed a bit shirty at times. Perhaps not the best choice for moral analysis. ”Rage magic?” Spike let his eyebrow quirk for a second, then allowed himself to chuckle, ”Why don’t we get her and daddy demon, throw ‘em into a ring of death and let them duke it out?” Seemed simple enough to him. Gabriel could possibly disapprove of the idea, but in Spike’s eyes, violence was almost always an option. Despite his soul, he still craved conflict and the thrill of the fight. He liked toying with the possibility of being dusted—which was probably why he was still hanging around here. ”Do I get to meet the Golden Girls and Dick Van Dyke?” Spike snorted. He had been watching way too much TV, considering that while Angelus was out and about, he was stuck on daytime duty watching Angel’s little sister and sitting cuddled on the couch watching boring things had been their primary form of entertainment. At the angel’s second protestation of touch Spike’s soul, he merely waved a hand in defeat, ”It’s fine. Not like I can force you to do anything.” Spike had finally burned through the cigarette while Gabriel admitted that he was just thinking, ’Bout what?” It was really just a gut reaction to inquire about it, but the vampire’s lack of inhibition and the added alcohol had removed all forms of censorship on Spike’s brain. +++ TAGS: Gabriel WORD COUNT: 678 NOTES: ~

The Trickster looked at the vampire and he listened to him talk about a person who tried to kill him. He then wondered. Gabriel let out a slight laugh and he looked at the ground as he did. He then looked at the vampire once more. “sorry, didn’t mean to laugh. I think I know who you are talking about. Maddie mentioned a few things here and there, and she mentioned Angel.” Gabriel said, hoping that he didn’t offend the vampire. Sometimes people were weird like that, it offended them if a person mentioned was a person that they hated. Gabriel really didn’t want to over step the boundaries even though he would be able to take the vampire on no problem.
Gabriel laughed at him. He nodded and agreed. “yeah not for the angels, though I’m sure that the people in heaven have it. Damn I should have crashed other people’s heavens.” Gabriel said shaking his head. He knew that everyone had their own and heaven is what their soul makes of it. He remembered looking at a few, and then he just stopped caring because it was uneventful, not something you want to watch again and again., or at least that’s how he felt. He then looked at Spike when Spike asked about what they do up there. Gabriel shrugged. “eh, duty things. Never really did them much. I was always goofing off, obviously.” Gabriel replied to Spike with a smirk on his face.
Gabriel listened to Spike talk about purgatory and he laughed. That was so far from the truth, it sounded super ridiculous. He couldn’t stop laughing at his version of Purgatory. Lord that would be an even better purgatory than the one that exists now. “purgatory is like a prison… no it is a prison. The home to a very nasty breed of creatures that father created before us angels.” Gabriel added, before looking at Spike seriously again. “never like whats lurking in the dark.”
Gabriel looked at Spike and raised an eyebrow. He didn’t know what well ta, meant. He figured it mush have meant something good, so he really didn’t say anything. His attention turned back to Spike when he talked about Kaitlyn and Maddie’s dad. His eyes narrowed. He finally closed them allowing the rage to go away. How could he think of anything like that? Oh wait, vampire. Humans and vampires could be so predictable. Gabriel didn’t like it one bit. He didn’t say anything to Spike about it but just gave him the solid glare that was on his face.
The youngest archangel looked at Spike when he asked if he could meet the golden girls or Dick Van Dyke. Gabriel shook his head and laughed. “not in my TV land you don’t. I trapped the Winchesters in there and made them do a herpes commercial, and they were on a Japanese game show called the nut cracker. Sam got a pretty hit in the balls. Pretty funny, that was.” Gabriel smiled, remembering that moment and he laughed, picturing it in his head.
Gabriel looked at Spike when he said that he couldn’t force him to do anything. “damn right.” Gabriel said to him and he picked up his bottle of wine then looked at Spike. Now he was tempted. He walked closer to Spike and he stopped about a foot away from the vampire and a smile appeared on his face. He was so tempted. He looked at the bottle of wine in his hand. “nah I cant.” Gabriel said as he started walking away shaking his head. “CHANGED MY MIND!” the archangel said as he stuck his right hand through Spike’s chest and a bright orangy-white light shone from his chest. Gabriel pulled his hand out and dropped it to his side. “imagine that much pain times a billion, and that’s what I am going to do to you if you hurt my prophet.” Gabriel smirked to the vampire.
He then asked the youngest archangel what he was thinking about. Gabriel merely shrugged. “oh lots of things. Lots of different things.” Gabriel said to Spike truthfully. He really didn’t know where to start with what he was thinking. Everything was rushing at him at once.

”Did she mention that he was a great big tosser with no sense of anything?” Spike rolled his eyes. God. He did not want to talk about Angel. There were a million other things he could think of to talk about that would be far less painful and annoying. It was probably just best to stay off the subject of both of their families. Talking about it too long would probably dreg up bad memories for both of them, Spike supposed. He didn’t want the angel to get any madder at him than he had already seen him. Spike gave something of a snort when Gabriel said that he should have crashed other people’s heavens. Really, who would want a heaven full of sweets other than little children? Though it was kind of entertaining thinking about the angel, looking like a grown man, swooping in from above to steal candy from kids. Well, Spike still had a little bit of a morbid sense of humor, which is why Gabriel had given him a few glares over the course of the conversation. The angel didn’t explain what his job was, so Spike simply shrugged that off and listened to what the angel had to say next. The way Gabriel further explained purgatory made Spike want to head there even less. ”So… is there a limbo? Or a non-descript, not being in pain all the time place of rest?” The vampire asked. Heaven was not the place for him, but he really didn’t want to be hunted down for eternity by angel prototypes that hated what lurked in the dark. Just a lonely place, where he could think about his life and unlife. That would be for the best and all that Spike could ask for. TV land, as far as Gabriel described it, sounded like a very strange punishment indeed, ”Wow. Ten points for creativity. ” Spike smirked. Still, such things sounded better than purgatory. Not by much though. The vampire merely scoffed again when the angel so haughtily confirmed that Spike had no power over him. But then there was a strange glint in Gabriel’s eyes. Spike didn’t back down as the angel crept closer towards him, but his gaze was wary, if not confused. With his wine in hand, the angel stopped right in front of him, and Spike merely studied the angel a bit more, tempted to ask him if he was going to bloody well get on with it. But the angel turned back, and Spike let his guard down. Big mistake. When Gabriel turned back and forced his hand through the vampire’s chest, Spike could only feel pain rippling through his body. He couldn’t even scream really properly, only a strangled growl came out. Fortunately, the angel kept it short. ”Aw! You… you right bastard!” Spike cried out, not even truly realizing what he was saying. What the hell was that? Since it had been short, it probably didn’t stack up to the time he saved Sunnydale, which was much more prolonged, but it was certainly on par with the time his soul got stuck in him, and that was more or less like being hit by a flaming truck., ”Augh! I thought we weren’t playing ‘blow up the vampire’ tonight?”After shaking his head out a bit more, trying to distract himself from the sting, ”I got you. No playing rough with Maddie,” The vampire sighed with a huff, still subconsciously rubbing the part of his chest that the angel more or less stuck his hand through. Whether the man was fickle or not in most things, his devotion to certain people seemed to not waver. After the angel’s vague answer and Spike felt like he could stand properly again, the vampire looked at the sky, then plucked his cell phone out of his duster pocket. They had been here longer than he had thought and to make it back to his crypt on foot before the sun came up, he would have to leave soon, ”Gonna be dawn in a bit. Been real interesting meeting an angel and all, but I think you know I don’t tan well. You also know where to look if you need me, I’d wager.” and with that, Spike started to wander away, looking over his shoulder once to see if the angel was gone in that instance or not. +++ TAGS: Gabriel WORD COUNT: 724 NOTES: I was thinking that since the Maddie/Spike post is going to happen soon, we could wrap this one up.

The youngest Archangel looked at him and shook his head. “no, she called him Angelus, then Angel then I got confused. ” Gabriel said to Spike as he took another drink from his bottle of wine. He looked at Spike when he snorted at him saying that he should have hopped between heavens. What was funny about that? People had things everywhere. Heaven was full of wonder and the youngest archangel still didn’t understand it.
The archangel looked at the vampire from the ground and shook his head. “heaven, hell and Purgatory. that’s all I know of, that or you can be a reaper but I don’t deal in that. that’s Death’s decision and division. I could make people reapers but I think Death might kill me if I did.” The Trickster said to Spike. He had heard of the rare occasion that a person becomes a reaper, but usually Death just creates them, not from humans but from nothing. Death was just as powerful as his father, God is.
The Trickster looked at Spike when he called him a bastard. Gabriel merely shrugged to him, since he had heard that so many times from Maddie’s cousins. He smiled evilly when Spike said that he thought Gabriel wasn’t going to play blow up the vampire tonight. He laughed and shrugged. “you told me too and I did. Didn’t blow you up now did I?” The Archangel retorted as he backed away and kept his back to the vampire.
He didn’t look at Spike again and the last thing the angel heard was that Spike wasn’t going to play rough with Maddie. Gabriel just understood that he wouldn’t hurt her. Gabriel looked around and figured that he had better be going because of his family. He looked back at the vampire then smiled. Before the vampire could finish his next statement about the sky and what time it was, Gabriel had teleported away and with the sound of his wings flapping, he was gone, leaving behind a feather that was floating lightly to the sandy beach.
