”I guess I’d do it. If there was no way I could fight back,” Spike admitted a bit sullenly, trying to think what he would do if he had to choose sides in a civil war, ”But I’d still try to tell people what was going on. Least tell ‘em not to fret or something.”“God disappeared,” Now, that one, Spike thought of as a little strange. For some reason, angels as a species was easier for him to swallow than God being among humans and such. He was God, after all. Fire and Brimstone and all thous and thys. He had to admit, though a typical God-fearing man in his human days, God really didn’t pass his mind once he was turned. If it did, it was only a rejection of Him. Now, since he was ensouled, it was a strange topic for Spike to think about. He had been to Hell and Buffy had been to Heaven, but still, something blocked Spike from thinking about God as someone he could possibly see on the street. He really hoped Maddie didn’t ask him his opinion on God. That might end up like an open can of worms. Spike didn’t want to upset the girl, but he knew he wouldn’t lie to her either. ”So angels do more than just send messages and protect prophets, eh?” Spike mused, wondering what types of power they could have. Angels being powerful did sound right though, with the flaming sword of Michael and other things that Spike could vaguely remember. With their holy power, Spike imagined that they could destroy a vampire without breaking a sweat. Spike was a bit amused when Maddie grabbed his hand. She probably wasn’t a teenager anymore, but her actions showed that she was still rather young. He wondered if she felt how cool his skin was. That was the thing about being dead. The living always felt warmer. Other vampires wanted to consume that warmth until there was nothing left. In a way, Spike felt lucky that he could experience it in such an innocent way and leave it without harm. He was pulled to the sidewalk, where they could see the main drag in front of the cinema. Maddie pointed an angel out. ”Looks average enough to me. But most of the humans I know are awkward,” Spike stared at the first one she pointed out. He supposed that dressing up as holy figures was a good way to hide your lack of knowledge of the outside world. How many times could you say a nun or a priest was in the know about anything but their profession? Spike noticed that Maddie was looking for more. Or at least that’s what Spike thought she was doing. He figured he might as well ask, “Are there more? More than one, I mean?”+++ TAGS: Maddie! Madison Mackenzey Saxon nodded and she agreed with Spike. She still had to have faith in Gabriel, even though he pissed her off to no end. She guessed that in the end it was both of their faults. Maybe if they hadn’t met, in person anyway, then none of this would have ever happened. Though, Maddie couldn’t picture her life without him. He was like family to her.
Maddie nodded when he repeated what she said. “guess he couldn’t take all the fighting like Gabriel. Gabriel ran away to get away from his older brothers Michael and Lucifer. Personally, I think he is just a deadbeat father who doesn’t care about the angels or what happens to this place. The only good thing he has done was brought Gabriel back from the dead.” Maddie shrugged, not really caring about what other people think of God. Her opinion was hers and from the stories that she has heard, he seems to not care at all.
“Gabriel can bend reality, make things appear out of nowhere, time travel, change history, heal, bring people back from the dead, hell, he could destroy any one of us with the snap of his fingers and make none of us exist. That’s just the archangels though. The other angels aren’t as powerful. Oh and punching them, kicking and whatever can’t hurt them. Hurts you in return, kind of like punching a brick wall… well for a human. I learned that one quickly.” Maddie laughed. She remembered the time she punched him in the face. She broke almost every bone in her hand. He healed her and in the end he laughed, apologizing for not telling her.
Maddie didn’t care that Spike’s skin was cold. She had seen enough and even fought vampires not to care anymore. He had told her that the man looked average, that most of the humans he knew were awkward. “the needing to help. That’s what gives them away.” Maddie pointed out, showing him that the angel was handing money to a homeless person.
“keep your eyes open. It’s all in observation. Notice the little details and that’s what gives it away. That’s what Gabriel taught me.” She then said looking up at the blond vampire. To her it was fairly easy though, maybe to someone else it wasn’t. He had then asked if there were more. She looked around and something caught her eye. It was an angel but one of Raphael’s. She wondered if it was one of the ones that were following Raphael’s orders or Gabriel’s. Maddie just stared at him, watching him, almost forgetting Spike was there.

“Yeah, it seems like everyone has a dead beat dad. Wonder why that is?” Spike said with a bit of bitterness. Nearly everyone he knew had father issues or at least a father that wasn’t there. Even Maddie standing next to him. Well, she had it even worse than most. He tried to think of anyone who had a good relationship with their birth father and came up short. What made men who begat children into absolute horrors? Spike’s eyes flitted away and stared at an invisible point on another building’s wall. He hoped that what he said wouldn’t make Maddie feel bad. But Spike had a tendency to run his mouth off about the worse things. ”Oh,” Was the only thing Spike said about Gabriel’s powers, almost taken aback by what the angel could do. He had never heard of a demon that could do those sort of things. Well, they could possibly do some of those things but not all of them. Spike was relieved to hear that not all angels were as powerful, but Spike could guess that any angel he met would probably give him a beating he’d remembered. Spike was strong, but he wasn’t a devastating force like it sounded these Archangels were. But then again, as Maddie pointed out charity and helping as their defining characteristic, Spike felt a little confliction. Sure it was good that they helped the less fortunate. In a way, Spike had become like that. Although, his way of helping was more fighting off muggers rather than giving out cash. He thought about the downside to this for a moment before voicing it to Maddie, ”So, if they really don’t have free will, are the angels doing that because they want to? I mean, it’s a brilliant sentiment and all, but…”Spike’s voice trailed off as he realized his new little friend was staring at something, or rather someone. He wondered if there was another angel. ”Hey,” Spike tapped her on the shoulder, ”Do we need to go? Rather, should I go?” If Maddie was serious about her friend who could change time and kill and revive people with a flick of his wrist not wanting her to meet people, Spike was sure the archangel could make exactly what he wanted would happen. And Spike wasn’t really convinced that letting Spike go alive would necessarily be included in those plans. Although holy things didn’t frighten him as much as when he was soulless, Spike did assume that something called an angel would want to destroy him based on the fact that he essentially was a demon walking around in a corpse. And the way Maddie was looking out at the new angel, the news might not have been so good for her as well. Spike’s gaze flicked between the new person and Maddie, ”If you need to go, I’ll cover you.”+++ TAGS: Maddie! WORD COUNT: 480 NOTES: Meh... sorry if this is not so good.

Madison Mackenzey Saxon looked at him gave a light shrug. She thought about it for a moment and a lot of the people she had met and most of them had family issues. Most except her cousins. They seemed to have been the perfect family. Maddie knew that what he had asked was rhetorical. She did notice that he was bitter about it too and she didn’t blame him. Her father was dead beat, horrible, maybe dead beat was an understatement in her case.
Oh was all the vampire beside her said. She looked at him wondering what he was thinking about. She then looked at him when he asked her the question. She thought about if for a moment. “Honestly, doesn’t make much sense to me either but the one angel leading it broke from heaven, like Gabriel did, except Gabriel had left heaven millions of years ago. Maybe there is free will to an extent? Who knows.” she gave a small chuckle.
Maddie just looked at the angel that was there. She knew now exactly who the angel was, well not name wise, but face wise. It was one of Raphael’s closest angels. Her thoughts tried to come to a conclusion as to why he was here. A coincidence wasn’t what this was, he looked as if he was watching her. She really wondered if it was for Gabriel or Raphael. When she felt Spike tapping her shoulder she shook her head.
“no. you don’t need to go and I don’t. not yet anyway. I just know that angel that’s all.” Maddie shook her head and looking back at Spike.

Maddie reassured him that it would be okay if he stayed, but Spike wasn’t so sure. It wasn’t really that Spike was bored, it was more like he wasn’t sure that too many angels around would be good for him. Despite what Maddie had said, Holy things were generally bad for demons like Spike and he would be lying if he said he was completely comfortable right then. He glanced at the first angel they had spotted and then at the next one. It was probably just coincidence that they had gathered in the same spot, but right after learning about the angels and thinking about how they related to the Powers that be, Spike just wanted to be a bit careful. He had gotten the information that he was interested in. Much more, actually. And sometimes knowing too much could make one a liability. ”Well, that’s just fine and all, but if you’re sure you’re okay,” Spike looked around as if making sure no angels were going sneak up behind him, even though he was sure there weren’t going to be anything, ”I’m gonna get. I’ve a few errands to run, actually,” Not the coolest of reasons to leave a cute girl, but at least it was true. He needed to stock up on blood. Spike patted down his pockets, and then moved to his duster pockets, where he pulled out a small slip of paper. It was something like a business card, but not professionally printed and more like a torn scrap of paper with just a phone number on it. Spike didn’t usually give these out, but every so often, he found a use for them in the ‘hero’ business. He handed the paper over to Maddie with a little grin, ”But you give me a ring anytime you like, Ginger. It was… interesting to meet you. We’ll see each other again, yeah?”The vampire took a few steps backwards, giving a little salute as a wave goodbye. He was pretty sure he had been friendly enough, not really taking advantage of her for her information. And he wasn’t really sure what information he really could take seriously or not. But they were all very curious things to think about. +++ TAGS: Maddie! WORD COUNT: 373 NOTES: I hope you don't mind closing this thread out. M&G threads lose momentum pretty fast.
