--------------------------- --------------------------- It was nice being corporeal again. It was strange when he was not. When he was non corporeal he was able to see everything, and that meant everything. Everything in the world he was able to hear, he just had to focus on it. However he couldn’t touch anything. There were many times he would have interfered on a particular matter, but because he was in his non corporeal form…his real form…he could do nothing more than watch and listen. It was his curse…but also his gift. A curse because it took him several moments before he was able to shift into a corporeal state…his gift because it meant that he was constantly protected…and he knew everything.
Shifting into a corporeal state was far more complicated than one would believe. In the movies (yes, he knew about modern technology) one would be lead to believe that all you had to do was think of whatever you wanted to shift in to and BAM, you were in that particular body. This was far from the truth. When shifting into a form, well, at least for him, it took several moments because instead of simply thinking of whom he wanted to shift into, he had to really think about them. Think about what exactly what they looked like, exactly how tall, how much they weighted, and what they thought like. He had all the memories that everyone had, and it was imperative not to get them mixed up. If he happened to get them mixed up…the results could mean his exposure…to someone who had the faint clue of what exactly he was that is.
A mirror was conjured in front of him and he grinned a toothy grin. It was perfect. The man he was taking form of had died many years prior, in a fire in New York. His entire family went up in smoke as the flames burned into his flesh. He was a warlock before death but his powers had been bound by fear and he hadn’t been able to put out the fire. He had listened to the screaming of the man, Max was his name, and The Unknown grinned at it, loving the sound of pain.Max was someone he would enjoy pretending to be, for the sheer fact of he was a good person. He hated goodness, hated loyalty, hated everything that was ‘nice’ in the world. Max was one of those people. However, he wouldn’t imitate him just because of that. No…he had bigger plans. Plans that involved those who loved fiercely and believed that there was good in everyone… The slayer, the witch, the watcher, and the heart.
They were all a part of this. They had defeated his brother, The First. However, he was stronger. He wouldn’t flaunt what he was doing as his brother did. No, he would stay in the shadows, watching, waiting, torturing with little pop ups here and there, and finally, he would kill every last one of them. He didn’t care about the slayer line like his brother did…no…he just wanted the group of them dead.
And unlike his brother, he would succeed.
He took one last look at the body he was imitating before transforming back into his natural form…which was the black clouds over the town. He didn’t need the form at the moment, but soon he would. Soon he would make himself known…but not quite yet.

It seemed like time was going by so slow nowadays, what with Stefan being under Klaus’ compulsion and what not. Caroline missed Bonnie immensely; they hadn’t spent any real time together as of late. She had been spending a lot of time with Elena lately, for a multitude of reasons. The biggest reason was that they were best friends and had been since they were children. Sometimes she even considered Elena to be closer to her than Bonnie was to Elena, though most people wouldn’t agree with that. Another reason was the obvious; to protect Elena. No one really knew what Stefan was capable of right now, being that he was under Klaus’ compulsion. Technically he was supposed to protect her for Klaus but who knew these days. So she watched over her while spending quality best friend time.
School seemed so difficult to just attend these days. Caroline still went every single day as she always had, but it seemed treacherous to get through. She found herself watching the clock and counting down for the final bell to ring. With Klaus around, it seemed like school had fallen low on her priorities. Senior year was supposed to be the best time of someone’s life. She was the captain of the cheerleading team and in charge of the planning committee. Still, it was hard for her to make it through the day. The vampire kept her phone on her at all times to just make sure that nothing had happened that everyone was safe.
Caroline hadn’t been a vampire for very long, it hadn’t even been a year yet. Since becoming a vampire though she had seen a lot of changes in herself. She was still Caroline but it seemed like everything had leveled out. She felt a lot less insecure and a lot more independent, even her mother had noticed it. Her mother had even come to accept her which made her life a lot easier. Since becoming a vampire, they’d grown a lot closer than they’d ever been. She was enjoying being able to actually talk to her mother without one of them arguing with the other or any bickering. They had gotten into a tiny argument the other day but it wasn’t anything big. Caroline had simply over spent on her “emergency” credit card, a mistake that her mother hadn’t been happy about. She had defended herself by stating that she needed a dress for the Valentine’s day ball, which her mother eventually accepted and dropped the argument.
Now she was out and about, trying to find a way to suppress some of her energy. It seemed that if she didn’t do something soon, she was going to explode. Everything had been seemingly quiet for a while now and it was driving her crazy. She felt like it was one of those “calm before the storm” situations. Everything would be quiet for a few weeks and then BAM, Klaus would show up and cause some trouble. She hated just sitting around twiddling her thumbs, waiting to see what would come next.
Out of pure boredom, she had decided to take a run through the woods. It felt good to actually be able to run with her full, vampiric speed and not have to worry about anyone seeing her. She could stretch out her muscles and get a good workout, instead of just sitting around her house. After around a half hour of running she made it to the Quarry. It was beautiful, the way the water flowed out over the rocks. She gazed at it happily and popped off her shoes before stepping into the water. She didn’t go in deeper than about ankle length and just waded in the water, looking at the beautiful scenery around her.

--------------------------- --------------------------- The unknown is an entity unlike anything ever seen. It was created when the earth was created. It has been around long before man, demon, vampire, evil, anything. It has been around as long as around has existed. It is evil but because it chooses to be. It has had brothers, siblings, cousins, and all types of other things, but in reality, it is the parent to us all. It is too old to have a name, which is the reason it calls itself ‘The Unknown’. It’s been around long before language was even thought up…so The Unknown sounded like a pretty good word for itself.
The Unknown was originally supposed to balance out the scale between good and evil. There was a while that it did just that. When someone died, someone else was born. When someone was evil, someone else was good. However, eventually, The Unknown absorbed so many evil beings that it became evil itself…however…in reality…he chose to be evil. He could have fought the evil feelings, the evil doings, but he didn’t. He chose to be like he was, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
When in his true form, he knows everything. He can hear everything, be everywhere, and know everything. However he can use none of that power when in true form. When in corporeal form, he is limited to a decent distance (5 miles or so in any direction) on how much he can hear, but his brain stays the same size. He can still remember everything he’s ever know, which makes him that much more deadly.
He can mimic everything about a person, from their memories, to their voice, to their habits. He can make a person relive their deaths, in a way. Expanding on this would mean to say that say you were in a room with someone who was tortured to death. You had to watch it as they were tortured. The Unknown would mimic that person being tortured. He can be up to 3 forms at a time, and can stay in those forms for 24 hours at a time.
Being able to see everything and know everything had its advantages. He could see a vampire below him. It was a blonde girl by the name of Caroline Forbes. She had been turned less than a year prior and had dealt well with the help of her friends. She was wading in the water for what reason he had no idea, but it made him chuckle out loud. He chuckled, knowing his voice could be heard even when in cloud form. It was a funny way to speak when everyone could hear him, but that was the fun of it. The Unknown transformed himself right in front of the vampire Max's human form. "Hello Caroline, How are you this evening?" He asked, his voice low, Max's voice. He wouldn't use his real voice...not yet. It wasn't time for that.

The water against her skin felt great. It was cold, yet not too cold to where she wanted to remove herself from it. She waded through it slowly, enjoying the scenery around her. The water splashed up at the backs of her legs and she felt them hit her pants a bit. They would dry off after she ran again, the speed acting like a blow dryer of sorts. Mystic Falls was beautiful, she had to give it credit. It had that small town charm to it. The houses were all different, usually old with a lot of charm to them. The shops were almost all owned by family businesses, people who lived in town, instead of large chains. It was a perfect little town.
Well, ya know, except for all the vampires.
Lately, they hadn't made any progress towards getting Stefan back. He was still out and about with no humanity. Caroline knew that this was something most vampires could do, turn of their humanity that is. It hadn't been something that she had ever considered so she didn't even know if she could do it. Without humanity, one couldn't love and she couldn't be like that. Even though she wasn't with Tyler right now, she still loved him. She loved all of her friends and she couldn't imagine her life without any of them. So whether or not she could turn her humanity off, she knew she never would.
As she was walking through the water she felt a presence around her. She couldn't tell if it was human or not but she suspected it probably wasn't as she couldn't see it. She looked around for someone but didn't see anything. Next she heard a man laughing but again, she still couldn't see him. "Hello? Is someone out there?"
she asked out into the woods. She didn't recognize the laughter as anyone she knew and still, she couldn't locate the damned person. What the hell was going on? Was this something witchy that was happening?
Caroline turned around to look behind her and as she did, a man materialized right in front of her. She immediately jumped backwards and away from him, he'd scared the crap out of her! A small shriek escaped her as she jumped and she knew that he had noticed how much it'd frightened her. Before she could demand who he was, he was already greeting her. He knew her name? She wanted to know what was going on here and she wanted to know right now.
She took a step back towards so she wouldn't seem quite as frightened. Her muscles were already relaxing a bit, though she kept her guard up. "Who are you, how do you know my name?" she asked him demandingly, the fear no longer apparent in her voice or on her face. And then all of the sudden it hit her; Klaus. This had to be one of Klaus' men, maybe a witch or something? How else had he been able to appear right in front of her? "Let me guess, Klaus sent you?" she asked angrily, her head tilting to the side as she questioned him.[/blockquote][/blockquote] The Unknown 548 Clicky! --------------------------- --------------------------- He smirked at the female vampire standing in front of him. He wanted to call her a young vampire since everything was younger when it came to him, but he figured she wouldn’t like that very much. Not that he cared about what she like and what she didn’t, but it was common courtesy that stopped him. He knew what manners were, knew what being a gentleman or a lady was, but he usually didn’t care. However at the moment he needed to keep his façade up. He needed to make sure that he didn’t tell anyone or anything exactly who or what he was. He didn’t need people knowing how old he was or what he was originally created for. He smirked again at the thought of telling his history. It would waste time and pretty much last someone’s lifetime.
Telling The Unknown’s history would be long, tedious, and boring. Instead, what will be told is what he can do. He can shift into anyone who is dead. This means that one day someone sees their grandparent that died last week or last century walking down the road, it’s The Unknown. This also means that if you see two vampires staring at you that are identical, you’re not seeing twin vampires, you’re seeing The Unknown and a vampire. He can morph into anyone at any given time. Some wish that he would stay in corporeal form because it makes him less frightening…this is untrue.
He shook his head, bringing himself back to the present where he had a vampire standing in front of him. He knew that she was confused, that much was obvious, and it made him chuckle to see her like that. He liked to mess with people’s heads, it brought him a sense of amusement that was usually lost to him. She really had no idea who or what he was, which was something he enjoyed because it meant that he had kept his secret well.
“As for who I am. I am everything and nothing. I am too old to have a name. Though the person I am representing does. You can call me Max. That is the person I am copying. The cloud formation that was above is my true form, though I can mimic any dead person that I wish. He told her, grinning. “And you should recognize me. As I was created the day that the earth was formed. I know every person and every being on this earth. I was there for each of their births and I am always there for each one of their deaths. I am a higher being, one that cannot be explained only understood and seen.” He finished, waiting to see how she would react. “As for the one you call Klaus, he is simply a child playing with big kid toys. He did not send me, nor would he even know where to look if he knew who and what I was.”

The man in front of her made a quite obvious smirk but she didn't know what he was smirking at. The look on his face was honestly kind of pissing him off. It was just so smug, so irritating. What did he have to be smirking about? "Is something funny? Am I entertaining you?"
she asked, her voice and tone full of attitude. She was certainly not in the mood for this right now. Not today, not when she'd already been dealing with so much lately.
The loss of people close to her, including Stefan. He was still off the rails as far as she knew. It really hurt her to know that her friend was being held against his will, forced to kill and maim people when it went against his true nature. Now she had this random asshole sitting in front of her with a smug little smirk on his face. Especially, right after he'd just randomly appeared in front of her. This was certainly not going to fly with her. Not today, not ever. She'd become a lot stronger of a person since she'd transitioned into vampirism and she wasn't going to be treated like this.
Now he was going to chuckle at her too? Who the hell was this guy and how did he possibly think it was okay to act like this? She was beyond irritated right now. If she wasn't good at heart, she already would have ripped his annoying smirk right off his face. "Just what is so funny?" Being a vampire meant that all of your emotions were amplified by like, a thousand times. So when Caroline felt angry, she wasn't just angry. No instead she was irate. Right now, she felt like ripping this guy's throat out. Of course she would never do that. She had learned to control herself and her newly amplified emotions, thanks to Stefan actually. Bringing herself back into focus she listened as he went on and on about how old and mighty he was. The more he told her, the more she began to grow slightly afraid of him. This wasn't just some annoying vampire trying to make a name for himself. No, this was serious. Just the way he spoke let her know that he was telling the truth. Honestly, she couldn't help but let her jaw drop slightly at hearing all of it. "...what?" she asked, obviously dumfounded by what she'd just heard. Just figures Caroline, just figures this would happen to you.As she realized more and more what he was saying to her, she began to back away from him slightly. She didn't notice that she was doing it at first but even when she did, she kept on doing it. This was really starting to creep her out. "W -- well, good for you..I'm going to get going now, you have a peachy afternoon!" and just as soon as she spit the words out, she took off. With a blur of speed she attempted to run right past him. She knew that if he really wanted to keep her there, he could. She only hoped that he wasn't going to try and hurt her.[/blockquote][/blockquote] The Unknown 555 Clicky! I was assuming he'd stop her, wasn't trying to end the thread! --------------------------- --------------------------- He knew she was frightened of him…and that was good. He liked people to be frightened of him. He wasn’t sure why but gave him a sick sense of satisfaction. Granted everything gave him a sick sense of satisfaction but that was beside the point. He knew she hadn’t asked but he wanted to tell her anyway, just to scare her more. He chuckled as he shook his head.
“I’m not a vampire, I’m not a human, I’m not a demon. I’m a higher being that has been around since the earth began. It is not clear how I was made, but one day I was put here, along with my twin. We were made to balance out Good and Evil, but it didn’t work out that way.” He told her, chuckling under his breath. It was odd being in a corporeal body, as he usually spoke in whoever’s voice he was mimicking…however whenever he chuckled, his real voice came to play. It was a deep, demanding, bone chilling voice. He knew that those who had heard his real voice before were scared of it, and that made him chuckle as well.
He liked people being afraid of him, though it wasn’t necessary. He knew he was the worst thing on the planet…he didn’t need anyone to tell him that. “My twin sister would be a good term for my counterpart, though in reality neither one of us are female or male. We take the shapes of either one but neither of us have a gender. However she’s more female, being that she loves love and happiness. I am more male being that I revel in destruction. Instead of the two of us working simultaneously we work against each other. That is what I’m here for…that is what I was created for.” He told her, though knowing damn good and well that it was so much more complicated that he had really said…however his brain was larger than those around him and he could hold as much information as needed, where as normal creatures only used a tiny bit of the brain that they were given.
He chuckled again when the demon in front of him started rambling on about having to go and he watched as she sprinted away. He materialized quickly into his cloud cover and then materialized back directly in front of her. “Calm yourself. You do not wish to anger me…it wouldn’t be prudent for your continued survival.” He told her, and the look on his face showed the truth in that statement.

Alright so, he had not only completely ignored her, but he also had continued to explain what he was. Even as he told her she still didn’t really understand. So he wasn’t human, wasn’t a vampire or a demon. What the hell was he? Was he just some evil cloud of bullshit? Was he just..nothing, or was he just energy? Even as she heard his history and about his twin sister, she didn’t quite comprehend. Maybe she wasn’t supposed to…maybe he was just trying to freak her out. All of his story telling and explanations was just to scare her. Everyone knew that when someone was confused about something like this, they were frightened as well. The more confused he made her, the more she feared him.
Her head tilted to the side after a moment, one of her hands placing itself on her hip. ”So what..you were created to be a giant creep?”
Her tone was completely full of attitude and honestly she didn’t care if it annoyed him one bit. He was annoying her right now with all the pointless explaining. Obviously he didn’t mind being annoying so why would she? ”And it sounds like you’re a crappy brother. Doing the complete opposite of your sister? Trying to annoy mommy and daddy?” Of course she understood that yes, he most likely didn’t have parents. In fact he didn’t even really have a sister. That, she understood as he’d explained quite well. She was simply using the family members as figures of speech, using them to make her point. She shuddered as he materialized right in front of her after she’d tried to make her getaway. She had thought for sure that if she tried to run, he’d just laugh and let her. Obviously she’d been wrong and he was not done terrorizing her yet. ”Do you have to do that?” she asked angrily, upset that he’d frightened her. Even though she was a vampire she was still only eighteen and she was a girl and got frightened sometimes. Although since she’d transitioned, it hadn’t been happening as much as it used to. It took a lot much more to scare her nowadays than it had in the past. Knowing that she wouldn’t be able to escape, she decided not to try. She had been jogging all afternoon so she didn’t have her cell phone on her either. Otherwise, she would have attempted to text someone. At least if she was going to die someone would know where she had been. She made a mental note to let people know where she was going from now on. Looking back up to ‘Max’ she eyed him carefully. ”What do you want from me?” the vampire than asked truthfully. She really did want to know just why he was talking to her. What he wanted from her, if not just to scare the living daylight out of her. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

--------------------------- --------------------------- “You are a naïve child” He whispered, this time in his real voice. He always had the ability to speak in his true voice, but he rarely let it out other than in his laughter. However he was starting to get angry and when he was angry, his true voice showed. His true voice was one of the most frightening things about him besides his actual actions. He could make people quake in fear with his booming, commanding, hard voice. His voice sent chills down spines, and sent dogs running for the hills. He had seen it in action…actually he had seen humans have heart attacks from just the sound of his menacing laughter, and it filled him with a deep sense of pride.
“This has never been about you. So I suggest you keep your mouth shut until I ask you a question...not that there are any that you could answer that I don’t already know. You act like you’re powerful, but you are no more powerful than the humans that you think you’re better than…so shut your mouth and listen.” He told her before patting her on the head like a little animal. He knew he was not answering her questions, but that was because she wasn’t asking the right ones. He answered and informed of things that he wanted to let people know…nothing more or less.
“Again, I allow you on this earth because eventually you will serve me…no one else. Your time has not come for you to learn who and what you really are and what your true purpose is…but all things will come in time. You do not need to know everything and your arrogance is insufferable because you think you know things you haven’t the slightest clue about.” He stated…his eyes wide with knowledge and age.
“You have no idea what I am capable of child, however let me give you a demonstration.” He stated before motioning to the person who was walking in the woods. She was a young girl, no older than 21 or so, and she was on her phone. He looked at her for a brief moment before her skin erupted in flames and her shrieks began. “No one but us can see her or hear her. She will die along because that is what I want her to do. Even her phone remains unharmed, and those on the phone can hear her shrieks, but no one walking near can hear or see. Does that tell you a little bit of how powerful I am you naïve young one?” He asked, though his eyes never left the burning girl, and the smirk on his face was one of pleasure…
Pleasure from causing someone pain.
He chuckled when he saw the look on the young vampire’s face. “Just remember young one, I’m always watching.” He stated mysteriously before turning back into the black clouds and leaving the area slowly.
It was true, he was always watching.
