atheryn 'Kathy' Anne O'Connor was confused. She watched as the blonde girl…no…Buffy…she reminded herself to start calling her even in her head, and her brother were locked in some staring contest. She wasn’t sure what was going on but it seemed as if the blonde girl….no…BUFFY…was trying to read her brother’s mind. It was a bit creepy but also something to watch because it seemed as if immediately her brother knew exactly what the slayer wanted. It was honestly one of the weirdest and more miraculous things she had ever witnessed, but being the bratty little sister she was she of course had to break up the moment. Once she stated out loud that it seemed as if the two were reading minds, it seemed that the air in the room became less tense, something she was extremely happy about. She didn’t know what that whole thing was about but she watched in amazement as Buffy literally almost fell into her brother’s arms before laughing at her comment about mind reading. She was glad that she had broken up the tension as it made her feel awkward even if she really had nothing to do with it, which in this case she had a feeling that she did. Either way she was glad that they seemed to be smiling again, though for how long would remain to be seen. Kathy listened as Buffy stated that they just knew each other extremely well or that she was predictable, to which the young vampire let out a small childish giggle. Apparently her brother disagreed with the blonde’s statement being that he stated in a flat voice that she was hardly predictable. Kathy had a feeling she might have stepped into a conversation that had been going on earlier but she kept that thought to herself, instead listening to the conversation that was now being held. She let out another giggle when Buffy apologized for allowing her to see her and her brother kissing. The young vampire shrugged her shoulders before snickering. “Don’t worry. I tend to do things like that specifically to make people jump apart. You should hear the things I’ve done to Anthony.” She told her with a loud laugh before smiling at the comparison about Buffy’s sister. He heard his brother’s statement that it wouldn’t happen again, and her smile fell off her face. “Don’t say that Liam.” She told him with a frown. “If you two want to kiss…feel free to kiss. Just put a sock on the door or something.” She stated, sounding like a college freshman for a moment instead of the 11 year old she was. She let out a giggle, knowing that statement would most likely get her brother all riled up before continuing. “But seriously, if you two want to be together, be together. Don’t let me being here stop you. You guys seem close, and I like seeing my brother smile.” She stated, directing her last comment to the blonde that clearly held her brother’s heart. - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -The blonde slayer was glad that Kathy didn’t seem to be scarred for life by what she saw between her and Angel. She herself might be if he decided to ‘leave for her own good again’ (though she was determined to tie him up with chains until he came to his senses if he even tried it, but that was another story all in itself) however she was glad that Kathy wasn’t disgusted, scarred or mad. She would hate to have her former (and maybe soon to be again) boyfriend’s sister mad at her…that was something that she definitely didn’t want.
Buffy laughed a bit when Angel stated in a flat voice that she was hardly predictable. “Oh, I will have to disagree with that. I tend to make the same bone headed decisions over and over again no matter how many people tell me to stop nor how many times I get in trouble for said bone headed decisions.” She stated with a smile, knowing that Angel would know she knew that he was speaking about her going after the vampire a few nights prior that he still wasn’t happy about. “I’m also fairly predictable as I hate cell phones so I tend to either forget to charge mine or I leave it at home so it’s virtually useless for me to have one…and yet people still get mad at me when I don’t pick it up.” She stated with a ramble, knowing that Angel was still a bit peeved at her for not letting him know where she was going.
“That’s also the reason that I tend to forget to tell people where I’m going or when I’ll be home. I usually let my cell phone die or I lose it or I forget it here and then it really does me no good.” She stated, proving her point by turning out her jacket pockets. “I’m assuming it’s upstairs but to be honest I have no idea if I’m right or not.” She rambled before shaking her head. “I also ramble, excuse me.” She stated with a laugh and a roll of the eyes at herself. She either needed to stop drinking (which she never did so that wasn’t something she could honestly say) or she needed to start to keep her mouth shut.
The blonde slayer’s face fell when Angel told his younger sister that it wouldn’t happen again. She turned her head to the side, avoiding his eyes as her blonde hair fell in front of her acting as a curtain to hide the hurt on her face. She knew that he would regret it. He seemed to always regret things when it came to her. She still wondered if he regretted turning the day back when he was human. Not because she lived longer or anything, but maybe if he had stayed human and she would have still died, he could have found someone else. She hated thinking of him with someone else, it made her almost green with envy and red with hatred, but she didn’t want him to be alone forever either. Buffy took a deep breath before plastering a fake smile on her face at what Kathy was saying about being together. “Unfortunately sweetheart, Angel and I’s relationship is a bit more complex than if we want to be together, to be together. There’s a lot that is hard to explain. Just know that we both care about you…okay?” she stated, not wanting to get into the whole curse situation with her. That would be something that Angel could deal with if and when he felt comfortable discussing those matters with his younger sister. She was definitely not getting into the middle of that particular sibling conversation.
“Now, I don’t know about you guys…but I’m hungry. So why don’t we all get our specific food or drink of choice, and watch a movie? What do you guys say? Or I can go up to my room and you two can continue with your sibling bonding if you want? Completely up to the two of you.” She stated, giving the two vampires the freedom to make the choice.

--------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------
He knew that he should have explained his and Buffy’s relationship to Katheryn already. He knew that he needed to just sit down with her and tell her about them, but he hadn’t. Honestly he’d been holding enough because quite frankly, he didn’t know what their relationship status was at the moment. Until they’d kissed he’d assumed they were just trying to be friends. Now, after he’d basically mauled her, he was wondering what they truly were. They both knew they wanted to be together, and yet at the same time, they both knew they couldn’t be together. It was an overall sucky situation and he wished it didn’t have to be like this, for either of them.
The fact that Katheryn seemed so calm about what she’d seen surprised him. Now he found himself wondering what all she’d been through since they’d been apart. Sometime soon he’d sit down with her and they’d tell each other both of their stories. He definitely wanted to know what she’d been through and he suspected she’d want to hear about him as well. No matter what they’d been through without each other it seemed like they still knew each other very well. Angel didn’t feel awkward or weird around her. It was as if he’d slipped back into his old habits lately. Between Katheryn and kissing Buffy, it was like his heart was in a whirl. It was nice though to actually have her here, he’d missed having a family.
In Los Angeles he’d always thought of his crew as family. In the earlier years, he’d had a great friendship with Doyle. Doyle had been a hybrid (half demon, half human) that had been sent to Angel from the powers that be. He delivered Angel messages from them In the form of missions. He’d sacrificed himself in order to save them and in turn, gave Cordelia his gift. Cordelia was gone now too and he still missed her sometimes, whenever he thought about her or Los Angeles that was. They had grown pretty close to each other in the latter years, something he didn’t plan on telling Buffy. They’d even shared a kiss before she’d died, something else he didn’t plan on telling Buffy. He didn’t want to lie but as long as she never asked, it wasn’t really lying. He just didn’t want her to be hurt by his actions, even if they hadn’t been together at that time.
Again, Katheryn spoke of this Anthony person. Now he felt himself wondering about him, as she’d called him the other night in the cemetery. He wanted to know more about him and even possibly meet him if she didn’t mind. After all, he’d been spending a lot of time with his sister. Angel felt protective of Katheryn and he just wanted to know who she was hanging around. ”A sock on the door? Katheryn…I think that’s enough about kissing” he told her in a fatherly tone. He wasn’t sure where she’d heard about putting socks on the door but he didn’t particularly find it funny. Whether or not she was actually over two hundred years old, she was still his eleven year old sister to him. He then turned his face to look back at Buffy as she chuckled and disagreed with his statement. ”Alright, we’ll come to an agreement. Your predictably unpredictable” he told her, his voice a bit lighter than before and less…annoyed? He wasn’t sure what his voice had been before but now, it seemed a bit more upbeat and joking. ”We’re going to have to work on that then. Even I answer my phone” and again, his voice was kind of flat. To cover up his tone of voice he allowed a half smile to come across his handsome features. Even though he was still the same age physically as when he’d turned, he felt like he looked more aged. His eyes especially gave away his true age in his opinion. They looked like Buffy’s, older and wiser than what his body truly showed. On his hand, it made sense that he was so experienced and wise. On Buffy’s, he wished that it wasn’t the same way. She was still so young and he hated all that she’d had to go through and how hard her life had been. Out of the corner of his eye he spotted the slayer turning away from him when he said they wouldn’t kiss again. As soon as he’d said it he had been wishing that he could take it back. He knew that it probably had hurt her feelings and he hadn’t meant it like that. Honestly he’d said it without thinking first, something he rarely did. Being around her right now had his mind and his words in a jumble. ”Buffy’s right..As soon as we figure It out, we’ll explain it to you” he said, correcting what Buffy had said and insinuating that the two of them needed to talk. He turned to Kathyern after hearing Buffy, ”I’ll watch if you are” he told her smiling. When she agreed he went into the kitchen, walking past Buffy, and poured them two a mug of blood. After heating it up in the microwave he walked back into the living room where she’d been waiting. Setting both mugs down on the coffee table in front of them, he took a seat next to Katheryn in the middle of the couch since he was on the end. Silently he wished that Katheryn had sat in the middle, just to be a buffer between Buffy and himself. Not because he didn’t want to be around her, but because it was hard being around her. He knew that she’d probably want to talk after this movie or whenever Katheryn went to bed and he wasn’t sure if he wanted to or not, he didn’t know what to tell her. atheryn 'Kathy' Anne O'Connor snickered. She knew that her brother wasn’t going to like the sock on the door comment…but what was he going to do about it in the grand scheme of things? It wasn’t like she ever needed to hang a sock on the door…EW! The thought of a boy even coming near her in that capacity still to this day grossed her out. Watching other people kiss didn’t disturb her, but she knew that would never be something she wanted to do. This should bother her and sometimes it did. She knew that in reality because of the age she was changed at she’d never get to have a boyfriend, a first kiss, or any of those things, but they really didn’t. Just because she was over 200 years old, that didn’t mean that she still wasn’t stuck in the mindset of her 11 year old self. “Oh calm down big brother.” She told him with her tinkling voice that sounded like bells. “It’s not like I lived in a cave for the last 200 years. I know things…even if they gross me out.” She stated with a giggle before adding to the effect and sticking her tongue out at him. So there! Kathy giggled when her older brother seemingly lectured his girlfriend…friend…whatever Buffy was to him about answering her phone. Just by the way that he emphasized that he answered his phone, she was going to guess that he wasn't the most technological vampire out there. She on the other hand loved technology. Her iPhone and her iPad went with her everywhere. They kept her busy during the sunny afternoons when she woke up too early and even sometimes at night they kept her occupied. It was easier to talk this way through iPad or iPhone then it was through an internet cafe and since she never stayed anywhere for very long it wasn't sensible to have a desktop computer. Granted she could have gotten a laptop, actually she had one for when she wrote, but she kept it strictly for that purpose. Her iPad was for fun. “Not very technological Liam?” She asked, not even noticing that she was still calling him Liam and not Angel. If she would have thought about it she probably would have wondered if it bothered him, but until he corrected her she wasn’t going to stop doing it since she really didn’t even notice she was doing it. Kathy took the blood from her older brother with a smile. “I’ll watch.” She stated but didn’t let that thought get too far before what he said caught up to her. Her thoughts came to a screeching halt when her older brother said that when they figured it out they would explain it to her. “I don’t get it.” She stated, not wanting the conversation to end. Nope, she was a determined little bugger and when she wanted to know something she wanted to know it then. She was definitely not the most patient of people…vampires…whatever and she wanted answers. She knew she was starting to sound like a brat and would most likely be reprimanded by her brother but at that moment she didn’t care. “You two obviously like each other…more than that if what I walked in on earlier was something that’s happened before…so what’s the problem?” She asked, her hands on her little hips and her eyebrows raised, looking like a 11 year old on a mission…which was exactly what she was. - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She knew that Angel couldn’t deny his younger sister anything just from the small bit of time that she had spent with the two of them, so him agreeing to watch a movie with them wasn’t something that was surprising to her. The fact that he was willing to sit down and actually watch a movie was surprising, but not the fact that he would do it for his younger sister. Seemed to her that the tall dark and brooding vampire who she had been madly in love with since she was 16 was wrapped around an adorable 11 year olds finger…it was adorable as far as she was concerned.
She smiled a bit as she watched Angel walk into the kitchen to get two mugs full of blood for him and his younger sister. She still remembered a time when he refused to drink in front of anyone. She could tell that he was still a bit self conscious about it, but she wasn’t sure if it was he was self conscious in front of Kathy or in front of her. If it was her she’d most likely have to smack him upside the head. She’d bought his blood for him before, hell she’d made him drink her blood before so him being embarrassed about drinking was a bit ridiculous in her opinion. As for in front of Kathy, hell she may smack him upside the head for that as well since they were both vampires and obviously Kathy had to drink the same thing to keep her afloat.
Either way she thought it was cute but also a bit redundant anymore, but she kept her mouth shut, not wanting to draw attention to it. Instead once he was back in the living room she held up one hand. “I’ll be right back…going to change clothes.” She stated before bounding up the stairs towards her room. Once inside she threw on a pair of short boxer shorts that she had picked up from Victoria’s Secret, a plain black cami and a pair of cute pink socks that matched her boxers. She realized she was slightly under dressed so she threw on a long sweater, though left it unbuttoned so it was more like a robe without being big and bulky. She noticed she had as usual left her necklace on but kept it on…wondering if Angel even remembered it.
Once officially comfortable she headed back down the stairs and walked into the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water before opening the drawer and grabbing out a Kool-Aid’s single and dumping it into her water bottle. Shaking it up she grinned as she realized that her drink was the same color as theirs. She doubted Angel would find her attempt at humor funny but she got a kick out of it and that was all that mattered.
The blonde slayer rummaged around her pantry for a few moments before pouting, making a mental note to go to the grocery store in the next day as they were woefully low on food. She grabbed the only thing that didn’t require cooking –a box of saltines- and headed back into the living room.
Upon walking in she noted the positions that everyone was in. She wasn’t at all surprised that Angel looked a bit uncomfortable being in the middle so instead of making him feel even more awkward she sat on the far other side of the couch, allowing him room so he didn’t feel crowded. She couldn’t help but take in his profile and laugh a bit under her breath. Here she was in short shorts and a cami, here Kathy was in hello kitty pajamas, and Angel was in his traditional garb of black on black…how he was comfortable she wasn’t sure but whatever floated his boat.
She was surprised when Kathy stood up and put her hands on her hips. She wanted to let out an awww but figured she wouldn’t appreciate that so she kept her mouth shut, instead listening as the young vampire explained that they apparently liked each other so why they couldn’t be together she wasn’t sure. She winded but looked at Angel, signaling for him to explain. It was his sister and she didn’t want to cross any boundaries.

--------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------
Katheryn's little snicker seemed to warm his dead heart, though some would say that it wasn't possible. He knew it to be possible and Buffy did as well, she could certainly vouch for him on that subject. Before they'd both been turned, Angel had been the closest to his sister over everyone. He had loved and been close to his mother, but not like Katheryn. Even being so young she'd understood and believed in him. When everyone else talked badly about him, she'd been the one to stick up for him. She believed that he could have been someone great and to some extent, he hoped he'd lived up to her expectations. This was only possible if she didn't factor Angelus into the equation of course.
A hearty laugh came from his chest when she mentioned not having lived in a cave. "I know it's just strange hearing you talk like that" he told her, though he didn't mind it. He actually felt like possibly he could be happy for once. His closest family member was with him once again, reunited, and he hoped it'd be that way forever. Taking care of her and keeping her safe would now be his number one priority, she came before everything else and always would. Hell she always had, before he'd thought that he'd lost her.
His mind then ventured somewhere he wished it hadn't, to Connor. When Connor had been born Cordelia had taken it upon herself to help Angel take care of her. Because of this, he had some sort of a bond with Cordelia. Now that she was gone, he missed her greatly, they'd grown into truly great friends. Even more so he missed his son. He'd let him go to have a normal life, though he'd never released him from his thoughts. Angel thought about Connor everyday and even visited him several times to check up on him, even though he hadn't made his appearance known.
Of course, he knew that Buffy didn't know of Connor. He knew that if he were to tell her, she'd be greatly hurt. Never being able to give her children had been one of the reasons they hadn't stayed together. If she knew about him giving Darla a child, she would be crushed. Eventually he knew he'd have to tell her but he dreaded the day that he would actually have to face up to it.
Hearing his sister call him by his human name brought him out of his thoughts and back into reality. "No, not exactly. Cordelia used to always try to teach me, to no avail of course."Thinking of his old friend brought a slight smile to his face, though he then realized Katheryn didn't know who she was. "Cordelia was...an old friend, she's gone now" he added to clarify. He hoped that Buffy wasn't bothered by him bringing her up. She had been one of his best friends for a long time and he simply couldn't help thinking of her from time to time.
After he had returned and sat next to his sister on the sofa, Buffy then left to go change into what he assumed would be pajamas. Upon her arrival back to the living room, he couldn't help but notice her outfit. She was wearing short shorts and cami and even though she had a sweater over it, it was unbuttoned and really only helped to cover her arms. He looked her up and down and felt himself choke a bit, and quickly looked away hoping that she hadn't noticed. Even to this day she was the most beautiful woman he'd ever laid his eyes on. The older she got, the more she grew into her beauty, in his opinion. Plus...hello, short shorts. Even vampires counted as men and he couldn't help but enjoy the short shorts a bit.
As his sister abruptly stood up and questioned him about Buffy, he couldn't help but be a bit taken aback. Honestly he hadn't been expecting to be questioned like this, even by her. He knew that she wasn't going to let the conversation drop because once she thought of something, she stayed determined to get an answer. It took him a minute before he could figure out the right words to say. Even as he said them, he wasn't sure if it was correct or not. "It's just..complicated. See, my soul, unlike yours, has some conditions. One of those conditions makes it very difficult for us to be together...does that make sense?"
What he had really wanted to say was that he didn't know why they weren't together. They both wanted to be so badly and if she could live with his soul and being with a vampire, why shouldn't they just give in? But he didn't say that because it wasn't right. As his eyes moved over to Buffy, he tried to gauge the expression on her face to find out what she was thinking. As he did so he noticed that she was wearing his necklace, the one he'd given to her on the first night they'd officially met. The fact that she was wearing it had to mean something, right? It just had to. It made him hopeful that just maybe, she'd be his girl again. After all, she'd once told him that she always would be. atheryn 'Kathy' Anne O'Connor waited. She wanted answers, and she wanted them now. Her brother and the…no…BUFFY…were being weird and she wanted to know why. She had just literally walked in on them making out and now they seemed very awkward around each other. It seemed strange to her being that the few times she had spent with the two (you know, in the past two days) they had seemed really close…and now they seemed to want to be as far away from each other as possible. She didn’t like it…it left her feeling unsettled and that wasn’t something she was into. She heard her older brother say something about Cordelia and a friend and about her being gone and she tilted her head to the side. Apparently her older brother had been busier than she thought. She felt a pang of self doubt hit her and for a moment she looked away. Maybe it wasn’t a good idea that she had searched for him all these years. After all it seemed he had built a nice life for himself. He had friends, apparently he was just as smooth with the ladies now as he was then, so where would she fit into his life? Kathy played with the bottom of her shirt awkwardly, not knowing quite what to say. If she had been in this situation with anyone else she would have probably run away by now, but this was her brother and she knew that she would regret it if she left. She knew that no matter what happened, and whether or not she stayed with her brother, she needed to see this out…whether it ended badly or good…she just had to deal with things. Even if he told her to leave, at least she’d have her questions answered. Anything…even pain was better than the unknown. Her head popped back up when Angel said that his soul had a few conditions and one of them made it hard for them to be together. “Okay, Liam…speak in English…hell speak with your Irish accent for all I care…just spit it out. Did you take lessons on how to be cryptic while we were separated? Because you didn’t use to talk in riddles.” She told him with a glare. She had never been one to like to play guessing games or anything of the sort. She wanted answers and didn’t want to have to wait for him. She knew her tone had been rude and she wouldn’t be surprised if her older brother reprimanded her for it but either way she wanted her answers and one way or another she would get them. - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She would admit, hearing Angel talk about Cordelia in such a casual statement bothered her more than she cared for. She wasn’t sure why but knowing that Cordelia was in Los Angeles with him had always bothered her in a way that she had never shared with anyone. Angel had grown over the past few years apart and it tore her apart that Cordelia knew this Angel better than she did. She hated the fact that Angel had walked away from her because of the fact that he wanted to give her a so called normal life and yet he seemed to fit in well with everyone else but her.
She would admit to only herself that she sometimes wondered if Angel and Cordelia had ever gotten closer than just friends. She knew realistically that they couldn’t have had sex since obviously Angel still had his soul and to her knowledge they had never called Willow to get her to restore his soul (though she had a feeling Willow probably would have kept that little tidbit to herself even if they had called her)…however it was a thought that had always been in the back of her mind…worrying her…making her wonder…did he truly ever love her?
She hated to be self conscious. It wasn’t the type of person that she was…it really never had been. She was usually completely self assured as she knew that she could do a lot of things that many people couldn’t. However when it came to Angel she had always been a bit less confidant…but now…things were different. She didn’t know him as well as she used to. When they had been together…and even when they had been broken up in Sunnydale, she still knew him better than anyone. Now, he was a completely different person…and she wasn’t sure if the new Angel still wanted her.
She knew her thoughts were ridiculous being that he had just had her pushed up against the wall not an hour before hand, but she couldn’t help where her thoughts led. Also she didn’t miss the fact that when she had walked down the stairs he had completely checked her out…however that was different. Angel either way was still a man…so checking out a cute girl wasn’t something that required feelings…and neither was making out with her. She hated to think that way but unfortunately her mind often took her to places that she didn’t want it too.
The blonde slayer jumped when she felt a vibration against her leg. She pulled out her cell phone and noted the number. Great, not what she wanted to deal with at the moment. She thought for a moment about answering it…but refused to do so. She knew she was being a bitch when it came to the situation at hand. Satsu was a good friend of hers and she knew that if she was calling it was most likely important, buts he really didn’t want to discuss the things they needed to discuss in the presence of present company. So instead of being the mature adult she was, she ignored the call, sending it to voicemail. She’d deal with that bag of worms later.
She immediately felt guilty for not answering the phone, but really she couldn’t help it. She didn’t want or need to deal with her feelings of guilt with that whole situation at the moment. She knew she had messed up when it came to her friend but she couldn’t figure out a way to fix it without making herself sound like a selfish bitch…which in that situation she had been.
Buffy turned her attention back to her ex and his sister, rolling her eyes at Angel’s comment about his soul and then laughing loudly at Kathy’s statement about him taking lessons on being cryptic. “If it makes you feel any better Kathy I have said the same thing to him time and time again.” She stated with a laugh. “As for him taking lessons on being cryptic…he did…from a guy named Whistler. You think Angel is cryptic? Try listening to that guy. He was a demon sent here to balance out the scale between good and evil or some random thing like that and it took me forever to get a straight answer out of that guy. Really I never did, I just sort of figured it out.” She stated with a roll of her hazel eyes.
She looked at Angel for a brief moment before looking away, her blonde hair falling over her shoulder. “You need to tell her Angel.” She told him quietly, though she still wasn’t looking at him. “She needs to be prepared.” She told him, hoping he would agree with her.

The vampire couldn't help but feel quite taken aback by his sister's tone. Not only was it demanding but in all honesty it was quite rude as well. The determined look in her eyes was one that he'd seen before. He knew it was one that wouldn't go away until she was satisfied, until she knew exactly what she wanted to know. She was relentless when she wanted something and he knew this was one battle he wouldn't and couldn't win. Although he had to admit that he wished this never would have been brought up.
It wasn't that he hated talking about it, although he kind of did. It was more or less the exactly condition, pure happiness, that would be a bit awkward to explain to his baby sister. Plus he knew that Buffy probably didn't particularly like to hear about it either. It was a constant reminder of why and how they couldn't be together. His train of thought was interrupted by the sound of Buffy's phone ringing. Per usual, he noticed that she didn't answer it. They really needed to work on that. What if it was something seriously important? Or..by the look on her face, maybe it was a man? Maybe she hadn't answered it because he'd been standing right there. It would have bothered him a bit if she was seeing someone else. Alright, it would have bothered him a lot. He wouldn't admit to that of course seeing as how he laid no claims to her any longer.
Trying not to get too distracted away from the important conversation at hand, he turned his attention back to his girls. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be 'cryptic' it's just hard to explain." And it really was. How on earth was he supposed to tell his little sister that sex with Buffy would lead to true happiness, which was something that cause him to lead his soul. It was simple really. He wasn't going to.
At least, he was going to get into details about it. Then hearing about Whistler brought his mind to a completely different place. Although he'd been a pain in the ass, he had really been the one to get Angel on the right track. He still remembered when Whistler found him in an alley in Los Angeles, hunting rats as a source of food. He had been in such a low place at that point in his life that honestly, he would have had no problem dusting himself. He felt like he was an abomination. Like, he couldn't be good or evil and no matter what he would never amount to anything. He was at rock bottom, and Whistler had been the person to kick his ass into shape. There would always be a soft spot for the demon, he was Angel's savior in a way.
He chose not to comment on Whistler, he wasn't a fan of being reminded of his life at that point. He'd been in such a low place back then that he didn't care to remember himself like that. Even though she wasn't looking at him, he knew Buffy was counting on him to be the one to tell her about the conditions of his soul. Honestly, he knew he had to be the one to tell her. No matter how awkward, he didn't want her to hear it from anyone else. Even though he didn't need to breathe he took in a deep breath and his eyes moved to the wall behind Katheryn. He was trying to think of just how to tell her, how to word it.
It wasn't an easy thing to explain and he knew that Buffy was counting on him to say it. With this he kneeled down next to Kathy, putting one of his hands on her shoulder. "Over a hundred years ago...I killed a young girl from a gypsy tribe. As punishment, they gave me a soul. With the soul they gave me a..condition, one that would punish me more than anything else." Taking a small pause his eyes darted over to Buffy's, begging her to intervene and help, though he knew she wouldn't. He needed to do this himself. "They cursed me so that if I ever find 'true' happiness..I lose my soul and become a monster again. Buffy..and, being with her has made this happen. I lost my soul and did a lot of terrible things. Which is why now, it's really complicated as to why we can't be together." He hoped that this explanation would suffice because he didn't really want to go more into detail. He then looked to Buffy quickly to see if there was anything she wanted to add.[/blockquote] -------------------------------------------- Tag: Kathy, Buffy Word count: 810 Notes:

atheryn 'Kathy' Anne O'Connor stood and stared at her older brother. She knew that he was uncomfortable. She could tell that just by the look on his face and the fact that he was desperately trying to avoid the subject. Angel had never been a world class actor when it came to her. Sure he could fool everyone else around him, that was something he had always been able to do and he seemed to do it quite well back then, so she knew he could probably do it a hundred times better now, but not with her. She had always been able to see through his crap and that definitely hadn’t changed. She could see the clenching of his jaw as she spoke and she winced at the thought of the talk that was sure to come later. Liam had always been the one to discipline her as a human and she had a feeling that wouldn’t change now. Her father would have taken a belt to her backside…and had done it several times before Liam had stepped in and said he would handle her. Their father had scoffed at it and told him that he couldn’t handle himself let alone a little girl, but Liam had proven him wrong. Liam had never taken his hand or anything to her as even back then with his questionable morals he didn’t believe in hitting a child, but he had scolded her, grounded her, taken things away from her and punished her in a way that she would remember the lesson he was trying to teach her. She remembered the worst punishment he ever handed out. She was not allowed to speak to him for a week. She couldn’t remember what the punishment had been for but it was the worst one she had ever received and whatever it was for, she had made sure not to do it again. Kathy’s eyes bugged out when Angel alluded that he couldn’t be with Buffy or else he’d lose his soul. “Well, what the heck!?” She yelled, pouting her little lips out in order to show her displeasure. “How could someone do that to you!? I mean okay sure you killed someone and that’s bad…but to make it to where you can’t be happy!? That’s really mean and stupid and grrrr!” She stated, her face shifting into her vampire visage as she thought about the injustice done to her brother. “I’m going to bed. I’m mad now.” She stated, her eyes yellow and fangs glistening but her little face not being at all ferocious even with the vampire visage in place. “Goodnight!” She stated before stomping off to bed, not at all happy with the way the evening had turned out. - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Buffy stared at her former lover as he tried to come up with a way to explain his curse to his baby sister. It was really an awkward situation. How do you explain to an eleven year old that your curse is that if you have sex with someone and achieve a damn orgasm that you lose your soul and become the monster that in all actuality was the cause of said little sister’s death. Yeah, this conversation could not go well…there was really no way that it could go well unless he lied…and just from the things that he had said so far, she had a feeling he had a no lying policy when it came to his younger sibling.
The blonde slayer’s eyes squinted as she heard Angel’s statement about being with her and…wait…being with her?! What did she have to do with it? Okay, yes, she had slept with him and he had lost his soul…but that would have been with everyone…not just her. So why did she have to be brought into this. Okay, so she was the one to have broken the original curse but it’s not like it was just her that could break it.
She shook her head, not dwelling on those thoughts now. She would dwell on them later when she was alone in her room and where he couldn’t easily read her facial expressions. He knew her too well to not know exactly where her mind had been so she tried desperately to keep her face blank. Unfortunately after he spoke to his sister he looked at her as if she should add something. What did he really want her to say? Yeah, I slept with your brother and then his evil twin counterpart tortured me for months? Then my best friend gave him his soul back but I still had to send him to hell? Yeah, not something she wanted to speak about…no thank you.
Her eyes widened as Kathy started yelling and vamped out at the injustice of what the Gypsies had put Angel through. She watched with thinly veiled amusement as Kathy stomped off and went downstairs. Once she was out of hearing range Buffy turned back to the vampire seated next to her. “You should probably go talk to her.” She told him before standing up and stretching. “I’m going to head upstairs.” She walked over and leaned down, pecking him on the cheek. “Goodnight Angel.” She told him, smiling before heading up the stairs, needing to get some space before dealing with the feelings that welled up in her tonight.
She desperately needed to reflect on things…as her heart couldn’t take being broken again. She had lost him once…and she had learned how to cope with that. Could she really give him her heart again…only to know that he would leave her? She wasn’t sure…but that was definitely something she needed to think about.
