- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Lexi heard Jeremy ask about how she had gotten Stefan off of human blood the first time. “The first time? I annoyed him until he listened.” She stated with a laugh before sobering up and continuing. “The second time? It wasn’t pretty.” She stated before turning her attention to Elena.
Lexi listened as Elena spoke, her mind racing as she thought of the things that the brunette girl was telling her. Little things stuck out in her mind. The first thing that stuck was that he had given himself over to this evil guy for Damon. She really needed to work on that with him…and she would…after she brought him back from over the edge. He needed to stop being so self sacrificing. She didn’t understand how he could have really thought that giving himself over to the guy who had killed his girlfriend had been a good idea. She understood to a point his need to save his brother, but at what cost? Damon wouldn’t have done the same for him and she had a feeling that Stefan knew that.
Elena’s comment about not knowing all the details worried her. She knew Stefan on human blood was bad but for Elena to not be around him? That was even worse. She could still remember the way her best friends eyes had lit up when he had spoken about her in the short visit that she had with him before his brother had staked her. Yeah, she was still a bit bitter about the fact that Damon had killed her…but she’d deal with him later. She had more important things to deal with at the moment, like trying to make sure her best friend didn’t kill anyone he loved.
When she heard Elena state that Damon had been tracking Stefan’s victims she knew that he really had begun ripping again. Stefan’s signature was easy to spot if you knew him. He ripped them apart so badly that he blacked out and then he felt guilty so he put them back together. It was a pattern that he had mastered over the years and it was honestly one of the worst things that she had ever seen.
Lexi’s eyes shot up when she heard that he had been compelled to turn off his humanity. “Fuck.” She stated with groan before quieting to make sure she didn’t miss anything. This was definitely not good. The last time she had dealt with him, it had taken her 13 years to get him back to the way he was. Now, granted, she wasn’t going to let it take that long but it wasn’t going to be pretty. Her mind was racing with plans on how to get him to come back to them as she continued to listen to Elena’s story.
Lexi choked when Elena said that Stefan called her a human blood bag. Okay, her best friend was going to get his ass kicked. “Alright, for one thing, never listen to a word that he says when he’s like this. He doesn’t mean any of it…and when I bring him back to the right side of the tracks, expect diamonds and lots of other things as apologizes for him…because trust me…it’ll happen.” She stated before putting her hand over Elena’s. “I’ll help, don’t worry.” She told her, smiling, trying to show her that she was confident she could bring the girl’s boyfriend back.
She heard Caroline’s voice crack as she asked about if Stefan was too far gone. “No, he’s not too far gone. He’s gone...but I can get him back. That boy just needs his ass kicked into rehab. And I’m the ass kicker, and the rehab coordinator.” She stated with a smirk. “No, don’t go find him. Right now he’s not himself…and I don’t want anyone getting hurt. He’ll do anything, say anything, and try anything to get his way. So my best advice would be to stay away from him right now. I’ll get him back…but we’re going to have to figure out a way to break Klaus’ compulsion before I can even attempt to try and get into his head.” She told them with a frown, not sure how one could break an original’s compulsion without said original doing it himself.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Elena stopped her story, trying desperately to stall the tears that were threatening to fall. She didn’t want to break down, not in front of Lexi, not in front of Jer. She couldn’t handle the break down right now, though she definitely wished she could. Sometimes she felt as if all she did was cry recently, though she had kept it to the confines of her bedroom where no one could hear her sobs. She would wake up in the middle of the night and cry out simply because she would have dreams of the past where they were happy, and would wake up expecting to find him sleeping next to her, only to get the harsh reminder that he was gone and he may never come back.
Lexi being there was the first shred of hope she had felt in awhile. She had read Stefan’s journals and had gotten a first person account from him a few months back about how much Lexi had helped him. She could still remember the look on his face when he had asked her to fight for her life.
Yeah Elena, it's your life and I'm going to do everything I can to make sure you live it! This trip through the past, you being honest? Was there any truth to that or were you just distracting me? I was telling you about a time when I thought that everything was lost and I had given up because that's exactly what you're doing right now. That is not- Yes it is! Even if you don't want to admit it! You are giving up! And Lexi? She wouldn't let me give up! I'm not gonna let you.
She could still remember the tender look on his face as he explained to her the things that Lexi had done for him. If anyone could get him back, it was Lexi. She had done it before and Elena had complete faith in her that she could do it again. But this time, Elena wanted to help. She couldn’t just sit around and wait for Lexi to bring home news about the love of her life and his rehab program as Lexi had called it…which she couldn’t help but smirk at as it was definitely an apt term for it. Stefan was going to have to deal with a lot of guilt before he could be himself again…and she prayed he could handle that.
She heard Lexi’s comment about diamonds and she shook her head. “I can’t even think about us right now. I just need him to be himself again. I know that he’s in there somewhere but I just can’t reach him. I’ve tried, Damon’s tried, neither of us can find him in there.” She told her before looking across the room and then turning back to Lexi. “I told Damon and I stand by that, that when he comes back, it won’t be because he loves me, it’ll be because he loves Damon. Damon’s his weakness, his humanity, and that’s how you can get him back.” She told her, not knowing if she was making any sense but hoping that she was.

---------------------- ---------------------- This was not easy for Jeremy at all, knowing that Anna was in here talking to him and listening to there conversation. Jeremy couldn’t respond, say or do anything, other wise Stefan wasn’t going to be the only crazy one off there rocker in Mystic falls. Jeremy couldn’t help not make eye contact with Anna as she spoke to him, he just hope Elena didn’t notice anything. He so badly just wanted to get up and walkway but then Elean would really think something is wrong, she is always worrying about Jeremy way to much.
Jeremy got back into the conversation trying to break away from Anna talking, and when he did he heard Lexi say something about That boy just needs his ass kicked into rehab. And I’m the ass kicker, and the rehab coordinator. Jeremy laughed and agreed. “Nice Lexi except can I be the ass kicker and you be the consoler, I think It might work out a lot better that way. For what He as done to my sister he dissevers a good ass wiping from me.” Jeremy then turned and looked at Elena, knowing she was going to be upset with what he was saying about Stefan. “Look Elena I’m sorry I just don’t like all that he has done to you, you have been threw enough all ready you don’t disserve it.” Said Jeremy.
It was true Elena had all ready been threw enough with losing there Mom Dad and Jenna, the last thing she needs is a Vampire running her life. But Jeremy knew how much Elena cared for him, so if that meant getting him back here even if he was still being Ass he would do it. It was just all going to take them sometime to get Stefan back to how he was before, hopeful they can for Elena’s sake.
As Jeremy was sitting there Anna was still talking to him. “Look Stefan is dangerous it wouldn’t be good to get him back here, you need to keep him away from Elena Jer.” Jeremy was getting sick of Anna talking to him, he didn’t need to hear all this right now. He was confused enough as is right now. Jeremy then couldn’t take it anymore as he yelled “Please be quiet!” Jeremy then stopped looking around at everyone, he knew they all had to think he was crazy right now.

The second time hadn't been pretty? She assumed that that meant Lexi had basically been forced to beat Stefan into being himself again. Since she was so old, this didn't really surprise Caroline. With vampires the older you were the stronger you were, that's just how it usually went. Caroline was a bit stronger than other vampires her age but she wasn't anything special. Transitioning had actually done wonders for Caroline. It had caused her to grow stronger and more independent. When she'd first turned, she'd only been more insecure and basically crazy. Stefan had helped her to control her emotions and learn to be stronger, this is why she felt obligated to help him get better.
The older vampire seemed pretty deep in thought. Caroline looked over to Jeremy as if she felt a bit awkward. The both of them had simply just listened as Lexi and Elena talked about the details and Elena told her what had happened. Honestly Caroline hadn't been surprised when she'd learned what Stefan had done. He had always protected people over himself, always put everyone else first. It was a bit odd that he did it for Damon, even though they were brothers. Damon was in love with Stefan's girlfriend and yet he still saved him, even knowing that in Stefan's absence they'd grow even closer.
Stefan was one of the most selfless people she'd ever known. He was a good friend of hers and she absolutely loved him and Elena together. This had all been so hard on Elena. She wished she could help her to feel better. Day after day she tried to cheer him up but to no avail; she wouldn't feel better until Stefan was home and acting like himself again.
After the two of them were done Lexi turned back to Caroline to answer her question. As she told her he wasn't too far gone, a waive of relief washed over Caroline and she felt a bit better about everything. Sure it still sucked and she wasn't one hundred percent convinced things would be the same again but hey, at least they had help. "Good because honestly, it's kind of scary..none of us have ever seen him like that before."
Her tone was grave as she spoke of him, almost as if he was dead or something. In a way he was dead to them, or at least, they were dead to him.
Breaking his compulsion from Klaus? Yeah because that was even possible? Honestly the only way Caroline had thought it could be broken was if Klaus was killed. Since he really couldn't be killed, they were all in a pretty shitty predicament. "Ok then I leave all of the Stefan duties up to you" she replied, trying to put a small smile across her features. "I'll stay with Elena until he's back..if you need any help though, I'm here." Lexi probably wouldn't need her help but she had to at least offer. If all Caroline could do to help Stefan was to watch over Elena, she'd do it. She already had been doing it for weeks and she didn't mind it one bit. Not only was she protecting her but she was hanging out with her best friend at the same time, who could complain? Honestly she couldn't help but laugh when Jeremy stated that he'd be the ass kicker. Obviously it was ridiculous and Jeremy would never be able to kick Stefan's ass, but that hadn't been why she'd been laughing. She had laughed because honestly it was just too damn cute. He was so protective of her and he was the younger sibling. Sometimes, she forgot that Elena was his older sister and he was the younger brother. "But Jeremy...this -- this isn't Stefan. He's not himself. The actual Stefan would never hurt Elena" she piped in to defend him. Before Jeremy had even had the chance to respond he was yelling for them all to be quiet. Her eyes widened and she abruptly turned her head to look at Elena's little brother. He seemed frustrated and had been so loud that she was worried. She hoped that he hadn't screamed because of her? Though the look on her face told her it was something completely different. "Jeremy? Are you okay?" she asked him softly, placing a hand on his arm. What ever he'd been hearing had obviously been bad enough to make him yell so loud. She didn't honestly think it'd been the girls talking so now, she was wondering what the hell it could have been. Lexi and herself had vampire hearing and they hadn't even heard anything. She was confused to say the least. - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Her mind raced as she thought of ways to break an original’s compulsion without said original doing it himself. She knew that would be the tricky part. She had a feeling that getting Stefan off human blood was going to have to take a back burner to getting the compulsion broken. She hated to let him kill innocent people any longer than necessary but if it came to protecting those that he cared about or innocent people, she would protect those he cared about from him rather than those people that neither of them knew. She knew that sounded callous, but she knew how Stefan was. She knew that when he came back from the edge he would feel ten thousand types of guilt, she wouldn’t let him feel guilt for hurting someone he cared about if she could help it.
She turned her attention back to the group, though thoughts were still rolling around in her head. She could tell that Elena was on the verge of tears but she really had no idea how to quell her fears. Unfortunately her fears were founded. There was always a chance that things would get worse before they got better…but she wasn’t sure how to tell her that without telling her exactly what she would have to do in order to get Stefan back. She knew it wouldn’t be pretty, but she would do what she had to do, what she always did, in order to bring her best friend back to the right side of things.
Lexi was surprised at what Elena said about Damon and she immediately shook her head. “No Elena, that’s not true at all.” She told her, her eyes widening with conviction. “Damon is Stefan’s weakness…not his humanity. Stefan has always felt responsible because he was the reason that Damon turned. Hell even before that, Stefan was always the peace maker between Damon and their father. He’s always had this weird sense of loyalty to his brother and it intensified when he forced Damon to turn. He’s his weakness because he feels like he has to make up for things that he had no control over. He still feels guilt for not only his kills, but for Damon’s as well because he feels like if Damon wouldn’t have turned then those kills wouldn’t have happened. He’s right, they wouldn’t have…but he still can’t take responsibility for other’s actions.” She told the brunette.
“As for his humanity…that’s you honey.” She told her, hoping she would see the truth. “When he comes back, it’ll be for you…for me…for Caroline…for Jeremy…and for the rest of your friends…not for Damon. Damon may have been the reason he gave himself over, but that was because he felt guilty and the need to protect is something that Stefan could never turn off. But he’ll come back because he loves you.”
Lexi smiled when Caroline stated that she would leave the Stefan duties up to her and would stay with Elena. “Most of the time I’ll be here if that’s alright with Elena, but when I’m with Stefan, then yes I’d prefer if you were here with Elena.” She told her. “Thanks Caroline.” She smiled thankfully
She could tell that Jeremy was not all for Stefan at the moment and she smiled sympathetically at him. She tried to comment but Caroline beat her to the punch by saying that Stefan would never hurt Elena. “She’s right. He wouldn’t.” She told him with a sad smile. “When I was here back for Stefan’s birthday last year…I remember the look on his face when he talked about her. I found out that she looked like Katherine and I went off on him. He corrected me immediately telling me that she was warm and kind. I knew in that moment that he was in love with her, and I told him that. He smiled this shy smile and said yeah I am.” She told them with a fond smile. “I knew then that he would die before he let anything happen to her, to anyone she cared about. So while yes, he’s being a world class asshole right now I can imagine, that doesn’t mean that the old Stefan’s not in there. We just have to bring him out.” She explained.
Her eyes widened when Jeremy let out an outburst about being quiet. “Uh…are you talking to me?” She asked with a tilt of her head. “I mean I know I talk a lot but damn.” She stated, though she had a feeling he wasn’t speaking to her as he was looking at an empty space next to him, not at her.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Elena wasn’t sure really what to say. She knew that Jeremy wasn’t at all a fan of Stefan’s right now…but to be fair he wasn’t usually a fan of Damon’s either. She had been having thoughts of trying to get her younger brother away from all of this recently but had kept them to herself, knowing that no one would agree with her if and when she made the decision that was crawling around in the back of her mind. She had promised Jeremy that she wouldn’t lie to him or keep things from him anymore, but she couldn’t help it. She could see what these things were doing to him and she hated that her once carefree brother (back before their parents were killed) had turned hard at the events that surrounded them.
She could still remember the night that she had asked Stefan to compel Jeremy. She could still remember the exact conversation that they had and how Damon had jumped in to save the day when Stefan couldn’t compel him properly because of his animal blood diet. Damon had told him exactly what she had wanted him to know and it was highly tempting to beg Damon (or Lexi) to do it again. She knew that if she did it and Jeremy ever found out, he would hate her forever…would never forgive her. However that was almost a choice that she was willing to make if things didn’t start shaping up soon.
She hated to even think about sending her brother away, but if it was to keep him safe she would do it in a New York minute. She would feel guilty every day about it and would miss him terribly, but she couldn’t stand to see him get hurt or to see his life pass him by because of things that she had gotten herself into (or those that she had been born into if you wanted to get technical about it). He was just a kid and didn’t deserve the things that she had to deal with. None of them did, but at least he could escape it if need be.
Elena barely heard the voices of Lexi, Jeremy and Caroline, though did hear Lexi and Caroline defend Stefan on not hurting her. She knew that Jeremy was protective over her…just as she was of him. How could they not be? They were honestly all each other had anymore and she didn’t want to lose her brother, even if that meant she had to send him away.
Her thoughts were broken when she heard Jeremy tell someone to stop talking. She heard Lexi’s question about if it was her that he was talking to but she didn’t think it was. “Uh…Jer…you alright?” she asked, putting her hand on his shoulder.

---------------------- ---------------------- This was not good at all for Jeremy, he could tell right now that everyone though he was losing it. The truth was he was losing it, this was not normal at all. Why was he even seeing her? What was causing this? Why was this happing to Jeremy? So many questions going threw his head right now with no answers from anyone, and he couldn’t confide in Elena he didn’t want her to worry. She had enough with Stefan going on he couldn’t worry about him too, plus Jeremy wasn’t much for having everyone one worry and make a deal of him. He was just going to have to try and work this threw and stay strong.
Jeremy could see that everyone was worried for him, he knew he needed to say or do something. Jeremy then placed his hand on Elena’s hand and said, “Yeah I’m ok I just need to get some more sleep I think, I haven’t been having to much of that lately. I have been working so much at the grill and have been trying to keep up school work to the point, I rarely have time to sleep anymore you know. But other then that I’m fine.” Jeremy then turned to Caroline. “Really I am don’t worry, I will get some sleep.”
Jeremy then grabbed an nice red apple from the fruit bowl on the table and begin to eat it. He Hoped that maybe he could wake up a bit more from it, he then looked around and didn’t see Anna anywhere to be. She must have gotten the hint that now was not a good time, or Jeremy really was in fact nuts. “Ok now back to what we were talking about, so how do we start by looking for Stefan then? Lexi you have any ideas?” Asked Jeremy

What the hell? Stefan had forced Damon to turn? She had never heard this story and to her, it sounded kind of bizarre. If anything she would have thought it’d been the other way around. The fact that Stefan had made Damon turn really surprised her. Now she really wanted to know the story, to hear it firsthand from the brothers. Mentally, she made a note to ask them once Stefan was back and well. In general, she realized that she didn’t really know much about the brothers past. Elena probably knew just about everything there was to know. On the other hand, Caroline had never asked and they’d never shared. Now more than ever, she was interested and curious to know their story.
The vampire only listened as Lexi spoke to Elena. She felt a bit out of place now, hearing what Lexi was telling Elena. It was as if those two were the only two in the room. Even though she didn’t think they were really that close, it seemed like they were. She watched as her friends eyes welled with tears, thinking about Stefan and the state that he was in. Hearing how she was his humanity and Caroline absolutely agreed with Lexi. He may have left because of Damon, but he wouldn’t come back for him, not one bit. She felt like Stefan could live without Damon but not Elena. Their love was the kind of love that you usually only seen in movies or on television. They were true soul mates and no matter what, she knew Stefan still loved Elena and always would.
She nodded as Lexi basically took over duties of watching Elena. Honestly she wanted to be the one to spend time with Elena but she didn’t protest. If Lexi could really help them get Stefan back then she wasn’t going to get in her way or do anything to stop her. ”Deal”
she told her, returning her smile as well. ”It’s not a problem. Seriously, anything you need, I’m your girl.” Her tone was genuine and soft as she offered her help to Lexi. Caroline just wanted everyone to be happy and safe. If there was anything at all she could do to help, she’d do it in a heartbeat. Sometimes she felt like she didn’t help as much as she could. As if she was a doe stuck in headlights, like she wanted to help but didn’t know how. All she really needed was a bit more direction and she had a feeling Lexi could provide her with that. The older vampire than reinforced what Caroline had told Elena. It was true and Jeremy knew it too, even if he didn’t want to believe it right now. Stefan would never truly hurt anyone of them, not if he could help. ”Well we’re going to have to dig pretty deep” she said with a laugh, trying to lighten up the mood a bit. They were all quite taken aback by Jeremy’s outburst. After Caroline asked if he was alright, Elena followed with the same question as well. Lexi said something in the background but Caroline had missed it, she was paying too much attention to Jeremy at the moment to hear anything else. Her eyes followed his to an empty space beside Lexi. Nothing was there and yet, it seemed he was looking at something quite intently. He tried to tell them both that was he was fine but he didn’t really seem like he was. Something was obviously bothering him but he didn’t want to tell them, so she left it alone. As she pulled away from Jeremy she looked to Elena with a confused, “WTF”, look on her face. Maybe Elena could talk to him later and try to help him. For now, she just listened as Jeremy changed the subject. After he asked Lexi, her eyes moved to Lexi’s as well to hear her response. In the back of her mind she couldn’t help wondering what he’d been looking at, though she tried to put the thoughts away for right now. - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She needed to get to work badly, but a part of her needed more information. She knew that digging for details would hurt Elena but she really needed the full story. She knew she had gotten snippets of the story here and there but she needed more detail to figure out how far gone Stefan was. Had he hurt any of Elena’s friends? How many people had he killed? She needed that information and unfortunately she had a feeling that the only people who were going to know all the answers were either Damon or Elena. Damon wasn’t an option since she didn’t feel like getting into it with him at the moment, so it fell to Elena. She hated hurting the young girl but she needed to know.
She looked at the young girl and smiled softly t her. “I’m serious though Elena. His humanity…that’s you.” She told her, noticing that Elena really hadn’t said much to her declaration and she needed her to understand what she was telling her. Elena would be essential in getting Stefan back on the right track and while she knew it wouldn’t be pretty and the things that had to be done would most likely hurt Elena as much if not more than Stefan, they had to be done.
She drew her attention back to Jeremy wondering if he was trying to tell her to shut up. She noticed that both Caroline and Elena were confused by the random interjection so she assumed he wasn’t schizophrenic or anything and didn’t randomly talk to himself…so obviously something was going on. She heard Jeremy’s excuses about school and work but she simply quirked her eyebrow. Yeah, she never bought into it when someone was lying and she rarely let anyone get away with it. She could tell the young boy was hiding something and while she didn’t want to call him on it, she felt the need to…sort of.
“Homework? How much homework can you have your junior year?” She asked, laughing to disguise the real question behind it. She gave the younger boy a look that clearly stated she didn’t believe him but she would let it go for now. One mystery at a time. Helping Stefan was her big issue, she’d deal with Jeremy’s problems once they got Stefan back on the damn band wagon.
Lexi flicked her blonde locks over her left shoulder before taking a deep breath. “Alright, I need details you guys. I need to know everything he’s said and done to each and every one of you. I need to know how deep into the compulsion he’s in. Also Elena, I need you to tell me exactly what Klaus said when he compelled Stefan to turn off his humanity. There’s always a loophole with compulsion, well, not always but usually, and that’s what I need to find in order to get his head out of his ass and bring him back to the land of the good people.” She told them with a smile, hoping they would be willing to open up the can of worms that she had a feeling everyone would rather keep tightly shut.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She heard Lexi’s statement about being Stefan’s humanity but she honestly wasn’t sure if she believed it. She knew that at one time that statement had absolutely been the truth. She could remember her and Stefan’s times together. The time that she had first told him she loved him, telling him not to hide from her when his vampire visage showed on his face. How they held each other as they made love that night. How he had held her when he told her that she was adopted and told her that she was the woman that he loved. How at her parent’s lake house how they had goofed off before getting into the fight about her giving up…though even though he was mad at her he still held her as tightly as he could for as long as he could.
All those times she had never doubted that she was what he was living for. I came back to this town to start a life with you…we can’t forget to live it. She could still hear his words in her mind as clear as if he had just whispered them in her ear. That night she knew that he was there for her…and not just to protect her. No, he was there because he wanted to be with her…he wanted them to be a family as he had once told her. That’s what they were. They weren’t just boyfriend and girlfriend…weren’t just lovers…they were soul-mates…they were a family. And because of Klaus that family had been ripped apart.
She had never felt such immense hatred for someone like she did for Klaus. Yes she hated him when he killed her aunt and she still felt that surge of rage and despair well up in her every time she thought about it…but this was worse. Stefan had no control over who he was and that was something that she knew he would have hated. She could still remember Klaus dragging her in the cafeteria and the look on Stefan’s face as he tried to drive a wooden mop handle through him just so he wouldn’t hurt her even though he was compelled to.
I don't believe that. You can fight it, you just have to want it bad enough! Why because I love you? Yeah! That's right Stefan because you love me! You'll fight because after everything we've been through you owe me that! You know what you're right. You're right. I owe you everything. Because through all this you're the one thing that has kept me from giving up. From turning it all off. But I can't help what I am Elena.
She could still remember when he begged her to run from him, something that she had sworn she would never do.
Elena you're going to have to run. But Klaus said if I run... I know what he said but if you stay it won’t matter...Elena please please please. Elena there's no other way. There is another way Stefan...it's for you to fight. Stefan, I love you. Fight Stefan, don't give up! I can't hold it. ELENA RUN! GO!
Elena shook her brunette hair, though it lay flat against her shoulders as usual. She couldn’t think about things like that…she couldn’t…it would destroy her. Unfortunately Lexi’s next question made her do just that as she asked for details and then needed to know Klaus’ exact words when he compelled Stefan. Her face scrunched up as she remembered the last time she had seen the look of pain in Stefan’s eyes.
Now this is fascinating I've never seen this before. The only thing stronger than your craving for blood is your love for this one girl. Why don't you turn it off? No Come on...your humanity is killing you. All the guilt must be exhausting. Turn if off. No Stefan... You're strong...but you're not that strong. Turn. It. Off. NO! TURN IT OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What did you do? I fixed him.
She shook her head, trying to keep the tears from falling down, though one slipped down her cheek anyway. She didn’t even bother to wipe it away. “He didn’t really say much other than turn it off. Klaus kept baiting Stefan telling him to turn it off, but Stefan refused. He kept saying ‘turn it off’ and Stefan kept saying no. He obviously wasn’t getting his point across as Stefan pushed him back and screamed no. Then Klaus came at him and pushed him up against a wall and screamed ‘Turn it off’…and he did. He compelled him to turn it off right in front of me. When I asked Klaus what he did, he told me he fixed him.” She told Lexi, her eyes focused at the wall but it was obvious she wasn’t seeing the wall, the room, or any of them. She was watching the memory of her lover being taken away from her right in front of her eyes, over and over again, just as she did every time she shut her eyes and tried to sleep.
“I don’t know if that helps or not…but that’s all he said.” She told her. “I don’t know how he compelled him to protect me or what exactly he said…I wasn’t there. I only found that out after Stefan walked back into the Boarding House and told Damon and I.” She told her before feeling two more tears slip down her face.

---------------------- ---------------------- It was his Junior year and he did have homework, but not as much as he made it seem. Jeremy just couldn’t tell them the real reason on what was wrong with him, other wise they would think he was crazy. He wouldn’t blame them he was crazy he was seeing someone that was suppose to be Dead, Jeremy saw her like she was never dead perfectly fine but no one else could see her that way. Jeremy wanted to know why he could only see her, what had caused all of this a spell?
It had seemed like the girls had everything under control now, so Jeremy decided to maybe go and lay down for a bit. It might be the best thing for him right now with everything, he did feel bad leaving his sister right now but she did have Lexi so she was taken care of. “Hey Elena I think I’m going to lay down for a bit, if you need me I will be up stairs.” Jeremy said. He made his way out of the kitchen and up stairs, and on his way to his room in the hallway he had heard noise again. It was Anna appearing in front of him, it seemed like no matter what he did she never went away. “Are you ok Jeremy what is wrong?” Anna has asked. “Nothing I’m fine I just need to lay down, please leave me alone” Said Jeremy.
Jeremy walked passed her going into his room, shutting the door hoping she wouldn't follow Jeremy grabbed his Ipod and sketch pad to draw for a bit, it was always the best way for him to calm down. He did it a lot when he was stressed out, and right now with everything that was almost all the time. He just hoped that soon things will work out and Elena will get Stefan back soon. Elena didn’t disserve all these happing to her right now, she had been threw enough. When would it all end for her.

When Lexi called out Jeremy on his homework, Caroline's eyes flew over to Jeremy's. The look on his face made it apparent that perhaps she was right. However, he didn't want to talk about it and simply shrugged it off like it wasn't a big deal. Erupting out for people to shut up, is definitely a big deal... she thought to herself. Now she found herself wondering if he was hearing voices in his head or something. If he was, that was definitely not good and they were going to have a serious issue. It isn't normal for people to have random outbursts like that, she didn't care what Jeremy said. Obviously he was hiding things from them but none of them wanted to budge. Caroline was honestly just afraid that he'd freak out on her like he had only moments ago.
Hearing Lexi ask for all of the details, she immediately looked to Elena. Since Stefan had flipped his switch Caroline hadn't really had much contact with him. She'd seen him here and there but they'd never even really talked. Before he'd turned off his humanity, they'd actually been pretty good friends. The longer he was away the more she found herself missing her buddy. It bothered her to know he was out there hurting people but he couldn't help it, if he could he wouldn't be, end of story. Normal Stefan didn't have it in him to be a killer, he was too compassionate and loving. Him and Damon were complete opposites. Normal Stefan was level headed and loving while Damon made rash decisions and only cared about himself. Well, himself, and Elena of course. Sometimes even Stefan if you caught him on a good day.
Pondering some more about Damon, she wondered where the hell he had been lately. She assumed hopefully that he'd been out looking for a way to help Stefan but she wasn't so sure about it. "I haven't really had that much contact with him. Really...Elena and Damon are the only one's that see him now."
Caroline knew that she probably was not helping but it wasn't her fault. Compelled Stefan didn't really have any business with the young vampire and hadn't yet made an appearance to terrorize her. He didn't scare her but she definitely wasn't looking forward to seeing him like this.
This entire year had started out so sucky that she wasn't sure if they could recover for it. Even Prom and Graduation might not be able to make the year better. Plus the end of the year nearing meant that everyone would probably part pretty soon. Caroline wasn't sure what she was going to do with her life. Now that she was a vampire, she still wanted to go to college, but she could wait. She could travel for a few years and see the world. Honestly that was just what she wanted to do. It would be nice to Travel with Tyler, though she doubted that would happen. She hadn't seen him since she'd broken up with him, she missed him as well as Stefan.
As her best friend went into detail about Stefan, she stood up and moved closer to her to listen. The tears welling up in Elena's eyes made her heart break and she placed her hand on her friend's shoulder to try to comfort her. Jeremy then announced that he was going upstairs to lay down, "goodnight Jer. Try to get some good sleep, maybe you'll feel less stressed." Deep down she knew that sleep probably wasn't the root of his problems but she had to say it, she truly wanted to believe that it was true. Things were getting pretty intense in Elena's kitchen right now. With all the Stefan talk, it had really killed everyone's mood. It was understandable as they had all been pretty close to him. Since Caroline hadn't really seen or talked to him since he'd flipped off his humanity, she didn't really have much to put into the conversation. Plus on top of that, Elena and Lexi seemed to know him better than anyone else, probably even better than Damon himself. That being said she decided she'd get going and leave the two to talk. "Listen guys, it's getting late and you two probably should talk more..Plus, Lexi volunteered to stay with you" she said, turning to face Elena again. "If either of you need me, I'm only a text or call away. Call me later?" she told Elena. With this, she leaned down and gave her friend a tight hug and then waved to Lexi. Turning on her heel, she exited the house and walked out to her car.[/blockquote][/blockquote] Lexi, Elena, Jeremy 808 I'll add lataaa. ----

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Lexi listened as Elena explained what exactly had been said that she knew of. She groaned when she realized how open the compulsion that Klaus used actually was. Granted, this was a really good thing for her because it would make her job that much easier, but it was annoying as hell that Stefan was a dumbass who had let it go this far. Not for the first time that night she wished that her lovely best friend was in the room so she could pound his face in, but all good things come in time and she would wait until she had the opportunity to do just that.
“That’s a good thing Elena.” She told her, smiling gently. “Granted like you said, we don’t know all that was said and done when you weren’t there…but if all he did was compel Stefan to turn it off…then all he has to do is turn it back on. Compulsion is a weird thing. For instance, I could compel you to sit on the couch right now. Okay, so you do as I said. I never said you had to sit there for all eternity…I just said you had to do it right now. After about 30 seconds you could get up and walk away if you really wanted to. Compulsion is all about the way you word things…nine times out of ten there is a loophole that is so obvious it’s painful.” She explained, hoping she was doing a decent job in helping out so far.
“As for this compulsion, it’s really simple. Okay, so he compelled Stefan to turn off his humanity. He never said he had to keep it off for all time…or that he had to keep it off until he compelled him otherwise…or that he had to keep it off until Klaus died. No, all he said was turn it off. So we just have to make him turn it back on. This isn’t going to be easy since most vampires don’t want to feel things and with everything that Stefan has done he’s not going to want to feel things either. However it’s going to be a whole lot easier than trying to actually break the compulsion completely. I still am going to have to figure out a way to do that since obviously we don’t want Stefan under Klaus’ thumb…but at least if he turns his humanity on it’ll be easier to do so.” She told them.
Lexi nodded her head to Jeremy and Caroline as they left before turning her attention back to Elena. “Alright, only one more question and then you need to get to bed…and so do I. It’s been a long day and I’m going to attempt to find doucheStefan tomorrow so I’m going to need my rest.” She stated with a laugh. “What exactly did he say when he came back to the Boarding House and told Damon and you that he was compelled to protect you?” She asked, hoping it wouldn’t hurt her even more.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Elena nodded to her brother when he stated that he was going upstairs. “Alright Jer…I’ll be up in a bit. Night.” She told him, smiling a soft smile as he walked upstairs. She heard Caroline’s statement about leaving and nodded, hugging her closely before she left. “I’ll call you if we need you, but I’m sure we’ll be alright.” She told her with a smile. “However you also call me if something goes down. Or if you just need to talk.” She told her, knowing that things had gotten complicated between her and Tyler since he had been turned into a hybrid.
She turned her attention back to Lexi and listened as she told her that it wouldn’t be as difficult as she had originally thought to break the compulsion. Sure he would still be compelled to protect her but if he had his humanity turned on then hopefully he would actually want to protect her…not because he had too…but because he loved her. She shook her head, no, she couldn’t go there…not right now. She would always love Stefan but she couldn’t even think of being back together with him right now. She needed him back to help them defeat Klaus….not for her own selfish reasons.
She heard Lexi’s question and winced at the memory. She didn’t want to think of his cold demeanor when he walked in and saw her and Damon talking closely. She knew that it had looked like they were having some sort of moment and he simply said that they should go on doing what they were doing. Once upon a time Stefan would have gotten in Damon’s face and thrown him across the room if he had dared look at her the way he had been looking at her that night…but this Stefan didn’t care…and that tore at her heart and burned a hole through her stomach.
“He…uhh…” She stated before taking a deep breath and continuing. “Damon and I had been talking and he walked in. He looked at us and interrupted, saying something like 'isn't this cozy?' Damon asked him what he was doing there and he said 'last time I checked brother, I lived here' then he told us that Klaus was gone and that he had asked Stefan to keep an eye out on me until he returned. He then told me 'From now on, you're under my protection'." She told her, her eyes facing the ground. "Then he told me and Damon to carry on and walked away. I had never seen him like that Lexi...and it killed me. I was actually scared of him...and I had never before been scared of him. I hated that feeling." She told her. "I still hate that feeling."
She stood up, putting her glass in the sink before walking back over to Lexi. “The guest room is upstairs. I’m sorry but I’m exhausted.” She told her before leaning in and giving her a brief but firm hug. “Thank you Lexi…for coming. I know that it’s not going to be easy…but you being here gives me a bit of hope that I was losing quickly…so thank you.” She told her before walking up the stairs, heading to her bedroom to let her tears finally fall.
