atheryn 'Kathy' Anne O'Connor waited for her brother to accept what she was offering. Kathy could see the torment in his face, and she knew why he was feeling that way. The last time she had seen the face of the vampire who bore her brother’s features, he had killed her. She actually surprised herself with how comfortable she was in the face of the demon that killed her. Maybe it was because she was older now in the literal sense, or maybe it was because she knew that behind the face was the brother she had always known and loved. “The noblewoman was your sire.” She stated, knowing what he was trying to say. “Yes, I know. I figured that out along the way. I heard rumors.” She stated, wanting him to know but not wanting him to know all at once. “I almost caught up to you a few times but then I would see her and get scared, so I’d run away and hide.” She admitted to him. “She almost caught me once. I had been watching you and I tripped. I know she heard me, and she probably caught my scent, but luckily I am still a good tree climber so I got away, barely though.” She told him. She felt herself sag in relief when she heard that the blonde was dead. “Good. She was one of the things that kept me awake at night.” She stated, and then felt herself get embarrassed. If she would have still been human she would have blushed a bright red, but as it stated there was nothing but her facial features to give away her embarrassment. She grinned when her brother bent down to reach her height. She had always kidded him about how he was a giant, and she was glad he still knew to bend down to let her reach. She stroked his face, running her small fingers over his raised eyes and couldn’t help but lean in and peck his cheek. “I’m a vampire too you know.” She told him, patting his cheek again before pulling away a bit. “I have a vampire face too. It’s not as scary as yours, but it’s a vampire face all the same.” She told him, shrugging her shoulders. “Your face doesn’t scare me Liam.” She told him, wanting him to understand the way that she thought about it all these years. “If you would be screaming at me or running at me or something, then yes, I would be scared. But even with fangs and yellow eyes, I still see my big brother. So calm down my angel…it’s okay.” She told him, hoping he would believe her. He did when they were younger, but she knew they had a lot of catching up to do now. “To answer your question, I drink animal blood out of blood bags. I don’t want to hunt humans and I refuse to do so. My soul won’t let me.” She told him, not really knowing if he would catch the part about her soul. She knew that most people …most vampires didn’t have souls. To this day she really had no idea why she hadn’t lost hers when the demon inside her took over…but she still had hers and she was thankful for that every day. - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Three vampires down and the adrenalin was pumping through her at an alarming rate. She was so hyped up that she wasn’t sure what could tame it. She wished there was something stronger than the vampires she had faced out here, but then regretted the notion as if there was something stronger out here she highly doubted it would have not killed anyone yet…and she didn’t wish that on anyone. She looked at her watch and noted the time. She could easily drive another hour away to patrol a larger cemetery and still make it back before the others woke up. The thought was tempting, but it was only a brief one.
Her thought was brief because of the whole being kicked in the head thing that had happened. She groaned as she fell forward and looked up to see a vampire advancing on her quickly. She muttered under her breath before kicking her legs up in order to right herself. She immediately got into a fighting stance and raised an eyebrow. “No fair hitting GO when I wasn’t looking. That will cost you 25 brownie points mr.” She quipped before jumping at the vampire, her stake out in her hand naturally.
The vampire in question was not nearly as weak as the others she had fought and it was giving her a fairly tough time. She had been knocked off balance ever since the kick to the head and knew she would be in some pain tomorrow when she woke up. She made a mental note (while kicking and punching) to take some IB Profen before bed. She groaned as she was thrown into a headstone, though thankfully not hard enough for the concrete headstone to break. She felt her back almost immediately bruise and she glared at the vampire. Alright, it was on now. She jumped up, knowing again that she would be sore as hell tomorrow and threw a right hook at the vampire.
“Come on, why are you picking on a defenseless girl?” She asked, though not really expecting an answer. She saw him snap at her and was fairly shocked when he reached out a knife from his back pocket. It wasn’t usual that vampires carried weapons so she wasn’t prepared, thus leaving her with a cut across her arm and one across her cheek. She could tell when the scent of blood hit the vampire because he got even more crazed and she knew she had to end this. “Oh, wait, I’m not defenseless.” She stated, using his own weight as momentum as he came at her to flip him upside down. Shoving the stake through his chest quickly she sighed in relief when she watched his body turn to dust and ash.
He wasn’t the strongest vampires she had ever fought, nor the hardest kill, but he did surprise her by pulling out a weapon. She wasn’t used to it and didn’t like where the train of thought lead. She had been the slayer for much too long to think that something like that was random. If vampires were carrying weapons around she would need to let Willow, Andrew, Dawn and the others know about it in case they tried to patrol without her. They usually didn’t go on patrol without her if they could help it, but they, well, Willow, had been a part of the slaying action for far too long. She even stated that sometimes she felt the need to patrol to get the energy out. She knew that she would worry if Willow went out and didn’t know about the weapons, so she made another mental note to make sure she let them all know to be careful.
She took a second to catch her breath before standing, a groan escaping as she felt her back. She could feel a trail of blood trickle down her cheek and she rolled her eyes. She would make a great impression while applying for a job tomorrow, which meant her application would be taking a day to rest before she turned it in, allowing the cut on her cheek to heal itself. She couldn’t draw any unnatural attention to herself and the others while they were here…she couldn’t risk them.
She sighed, looking around to find where her stake had gone. She groaned when she couldn’t find it. She really liked that stake too, but it looked as if it was gone. She stuck her bottom lip out for a minute before turning away, heading back the same way she came. She had slayed 5 vampires in this cemetery, and couldn’t feel any others that she wasn’t aware of, so figured it was a good time to go check out the other cemetery in the town. As she headed towards the gate she could feel her back screaming in protest at the movements but she ignored it. She had had worse pain than this many times and she was always fine by the next day.
She tried to clear her mind, thinking of nothing, instead enjoying the quiet. She didn’t get a lot of quiet time in her line of work, what with the screaming, yelling, growling, etc…so any silence was golden in her opinion.

--------------------------------------------"The Noblewoman was your sire" she stated to him, showing that she had come to understand who the woman was to Angel. For a long time he had considered himself in love with Darla, Angelus that is anyways. But it had been lust and both of their love of the kill instead, not their love for each other. Love had never existed between the two of them. Hell even Angelus had loved Buffy in a way. When he turned after their night together, Angel was still inside he'd just been taken over by Angelus. He seen that even though Angelus claimed to want to kill the slayer, he couldn't stop thinking about her, almost as if Angel's love had carried on. It was an obsessive love and sickening, destructive love, but love nonetheless. More so than he'd had ever or even come close to with Darla and he wanted Kathy to know that.
"Yes, she was my sire. She was beautiful, I had no clue..she tricked me, turned me into a monster." He explained to her so that he had no doubts that Angel would have rather stayed human or even died human.
She had been following him this entire time? All of these years, had she remained only steps behind him at all times? He winced thinking about her being so close to him and wanting to be with him, yet seeing Darla and becoming scared. Angel knew that even without a soul he would have taken care of his little sister. Even Angelus wouldn't have been able to turn his baby, vampire sister away. If she had made herself known, more than likely, Darla would have just accepted her and let her travel with them. Even if she didn't want to, as Angel wouldn't have allowed it to be any other way.
"I'm sorry you had to live like this, truly. If Darla wasn't already dead I would kill her for what she did to you" he spat out angrily. It was the truth, if he knew Darla was still alive to this day he would hunt her down and have her head.
When he leaned down she began touching his face, showing that she wasn't at all afraid of him. Though he had known she was a vampire obviously, he had still thought she may still be afraid. After all, he had been the one who'd drank from her in the first place and had been the first vampire's face she'd ever seen. Even though she had a face of her own, he'd expected her to be scared and was greatly relieved when he knew that she wasn't.
After he asked how she'd been hunting, she responded by saying that she drank animal blood. For this he was glad, as even though she was his sister, he couldn't let her kill humans. He wouldn't have staked her or anything but he would have had to try to teach her to wean herself off of human blood, and would have had to keep an eye on her. Animal blood drinker or not he would still watch her. Not because he was afraid she'd do something wrong, but because he wanted to do everything in his power to keep his baby sister safe.
Adding on to her sentence she explained that her soul wouldn't 'let' her kill humans. Soul?!?!? he thought to himself, how is that possible? Had she been cursed as well? This idea wasn't exactly plausible but on the other hand, what else could have happened for her to have a soul? She couldn't possibly have gone through the trials in order to earn one like Spike had. Though she was stronger than humans, her size most likely limited her strength. Plus as a child who didn't drink human blood, more than likely, she hadn't fought much if at all. His mind was screaming out at him for the answer but he couldn't find it.
"H-how is that possible? How do you have a soul?" he blurted out, though he hadn't exactly wanted to question her quite like that.
While he waited for his response, he extended his hand to her and began walking towards the entrance of the cemetery. He wanted to get Kathy home and into bed, perhaps get her something to eat. He was pretty sure Buffy had bought him some blood so he would make sure to feed Kathy. Even though they were now walking back towards Buffy, he wanted to talk with her as much as possible. Then again, he also knew that it was late and that they would have eternity to spend together now that she was here. --------------------------------------------Tag: Kathy, Buffy Word count: 791 Notes: Slow also, in class. Hope it was okay. When this thread ends, we can continue it if you'd like somewhere else! athryn 'Kathy' Anne O'Connor stared at her brother as it seemed to sink in what she had been trying to tell him. She nodded her head at what her brother was saying. Flashbacks of when she had seen the blonde woman, know known to her as Darla, the last time flew through her mind. It had been about 20 years since she had been turned, 10 years after the woman who she called grandmother had died. It was a rainy day so it was one of the first times she had ever actually been out during the day time since she was turned…it made her nervous…luckily there was no chance in the sun coming out so she was able to go out without any trouble. She had stumbled upon a town that was being pillaged and when she saw her brother’s blood stained face she froze. She almost went up to him, not understanding at that moment how someone like her brother could be so cruel as to kill these people who hadn’t done anything wrong. Kathy almost stepped out into the chaos, though she had no idea what exactly she would say to stop him. At the last second she saw her. Her blond curly hair flowing freely behind her almost in waves and blood on her face and hands. The site was truly one of the most frightening sites she had ever seen, and that included the night she had been turned. She watched as the blonde woman dragged a bleeding man out into the road and forced him to her brother. She waited for him to die, but he didn’t. No, instead, it was worse. She watched as her brother held him tightly and Darla ran inside and dragged out what she realized was his two daughters. The man begged her to spare their lives but she laughed, a laugh that had haunted her since the first night she had heard it. She watched in horror as Darla shoved the two young girls (she guessed they had been 14 and 16…maybe younger or maybe older, but around that age) at Liam and took the father in her grip. She watched in horror as her brother bit down onto the older girls’ neck and drank from her, the man screaming and the young girls sobbing. He killed the older girl before looking at the younger one. She was too far away to hear what he said but it didn’t matter as he drank from her as well. The man screamed again but this time for physical pain as Darla joined her brother in their feed. She couldn’t take it any longer. She ran, ran away from that scene, tears streaming down her face. Kathy remembered sobbing for her grandmother at that moment, wanting nothing more than to be back in her arms and to forget what she had seen. She felt a pang in her heart as she thought of the woman who she had loved, and not for the first time she felt the longing to have her back in her life. No one could replace her, for she had been there at a time when she had needed someone desperately. Kathy could still feel the warmth in the woman’s hug, the smell of her perfume, the color of her eyes, the love in her smile. She could still remember when she had awoken one night from a nightmare. It had been the same one that had plagued her almost nightly since the night she had been sired. It was more of a memory than a nightmare. A memory of the cruel smile on her beloved brothers face as he bit into her neck, his teeth sliding into her skin like it was butter and the blonde woman’s cruel laughter as she whispered that she would be her key to everything as she forced her blood into her mouth. It always ended the same way, her waking up in her coffin but this time not being able to claw her way out of it. She hated that dream and more often than not would wake up screaming and trying desperately to get away from something that was not actually in the room. She could remember the night that the woman had come into her room and held her as she sobbed because she hated having the dreams. The woman was known as her grandmother yes, but in that moment it felt like her mother was back. It felt like her mother’s arms that were wrapped around her as she cried, begging the woman to help her. Kathy shook her head, answering her brother’s question with a shrug. “Honestly, I don’t know. The woman who took me in, she said that because children…” She said with a baby snarl, hating the fact that even at 250 she was still a child…and she would always be. “Were more resilient than adults that somehow I must have subconsciously held on to my soul. That was really the only way she could describe it.” She stated, then grinned. “Are you complaining?” She could tell that her brother was slightly distracted and had a feeling it had to do with the blonde that seemed to be in his eyes and in his heart. She saw the worry come into her brother’s eyes and she smiled at it…it was nice to see her brother had settled down, for even as a human he was a bit of a playboy. “Let’s go find her.” She told him, bending down to grab her cell phone that had dropped sometime in between meeting her brother once more. She jumped when it rang out and she laughed at herself. “Whoops, forgot to turn it off.” She simply stated before answering it. Kathy heard Anthony’s voice on the other end and grinned. “Hey love! Actually you can stop looking. Yep! Actually he’s standing right next to me! Can I call you later? Please??” She giggled a bit as Anthony started to quiz her on the phone about how she had found the man who he had been looking for since he met her but she cut him off. “I promise I’ll call you tomorrow. Okay. Love you too! Bye!” She stated before hanging up the phone. “Sorry.” She told him before grinning. “Now are we going to find your girl or what?” Word Count- 1,024 Tag- Angel & Buffy Outfit- Click here to view Kathy’s outfit. - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Her mind raced as she thought of how Angel was handling everything that was being thrown at him at the moment. She knew just by the look in his eyes that he was beyond ecstatic to have his sister back…but there was sadness, guilt, anger, and love there as well. Love was the obvious one. She knew he loved his little sister more than anyone in the world…that had been obvious the day he told her about Kathy in the mansion all those years ago. She would have known it just from looking at the drawings of Kathy that Angel…well…Liam at the time…had drawn of her. The next in his eyes was anger…that one was obvious as well. He was angry at Darla for turning his sister without telling him. She knew Angel though, and later on when the anger fades, he’d be happy that Darla didn’t tell him because if she would have Kathy wouldn’t be here.
She knew the way Angelus worked…she knew it almost too well. She knew that Angelus would have done everything in his power to torture Kathy as that was the way that he was. And she knew that if Angel had to deal with Angelus’ memories of torturing his younger sister, he would have driven a stake through his heart the moment he got his soul restored. The guilt he felt already for the death of his sister and his parents was overwhelming, but at least he knew that they somewhat died a quick death…not that it was any consolation, but it still remained. However if his sister would have been tortured by his hand, he would have never handled that.
The sadness in his eyes was only something she would be able to see. She knew his eyes better than anything else with the amount of time she had spent staring into them. He was sad that his sister had this life. In his eyes Kathy was this innocent little girl, and he had damned her to an eternity of darkness even though in all actuality it wasn’t his fault. She knew him well enough to know that he harbored guilt for things that were nowhere near his fault, but that was just him. He had a big heart and she loved him for it, but there were times that the things he felt guilty about made her want to smack him across the head and tell him to snap out of it.
Slayer… she heard from behind her and rolled her eyes before turning, her eyes widening when she saw 5 vampires standing in front of her. She really needed to stop zoning out during patrol…because this is what happened. Looks to be our lucky day boys… the oldest looking one stated before they attacked.
Her muscles protested as she used her adrenaline to jump up, throwing two kicks at two of them and groaning when she realized she didn’t have her stake. She mumbled something under her breath before rolling away from them and grabbing a branch that had fallen, breaking it in two and staking the two who had come running at her. Unfortunately the other three had gotten around the dust before it settled and two held her steady, the oldest one grabbing her head and knocking it against the tree, effectively knocking her out. Keep her steady, I hear once you’ve tasted the blood of a slayer it spoils everything else for you for eternity. Let’s see if the rumors are right. He stated before his teeth went to her neck, getting ready to reopen the old scar that had been there for years.

--------------------------------------------As he looked at his sister he noticed that she seemed to be deep in thought. A wave of pain washed over her face and though he had no clue what it had been about, he wished he could help her somehow. Heal her pain somehow and make her return to the previous loving child she had once been. Now that he knew what had happened to her, it made his memories of her even harder to think about. To think about her love of the sun and being outside pained him. He knew that her current state his own fault and that killed him inside. His hate for Angelus grew by the second, thinking about what he'd done to her.
Trying not to think about what he'd done all that much, he was glad to hear her beautiful voice speak again. His eyes widened as she told him that it'd been because she'd been a child. It made sense, as children were so pure. But then again there weren't many child vampires, it went against their ways to turn a child. Most knew better than to do so but apparently, Darla hadn't cared much about that. And was he complaining? He sure as hell wasn't and never would. She held onto her soul and it hadn't even come with a catch. He had a soul as well, though his was plagued by the curse brought on by the gypsies. Even though he didn't like to think about what had happened to her, it satisfied him a bit to know that she'd at least held onto her soul.
"No, that is the only thing good about you being sired so...young" he replied, his eyes saddening as he said the word 'young'. He tried to show her a small smile though he knew it probably hadn't been very convincing.
When she spoke of Buffy, he was glad to hear that they would go looking for her. Even though he knew that she was more than capable of taking care of himself, he was still extremely protective of her. It was out of love and even all those years he'd spent away from her in Los Angeles, he'd thought about it then as well. He was just a protector by heart, he couldn't help it. It was his nature and at least it was a good habit to have, unlike Angelus' habits.
"Right, Buffy. We should regroup and get back to her house, it's late, even for us vampires" he said with a light smile. Kathy may be a vampire but she was still young and deep down he couldn't help but be bothered by her being out here this late. Vampire or not, she was still just a baby and her strength didn't match that of normal vampires he assumed. That being said, he didn't want to stay out here and put her in harms way if he didn't have to.
When her phone went off it startled him, the ringer was loud and he hadn't been expecting it. Honestly he hadn't even know that she'd had one until now, so it had been quite shocking to hear. When she picked it up, he listened to her conversation and vaguely wondered who she was talking to. He made a mental note to ask her later, as the person on the other end obviously seemed to know about Angel.
He nodded to her, agreeing to go find Buffy and then return home with her. He took his little sister by the hand and they began walking, both of them pretty quiet. It wasn't as if they didn't have anything to say, as they had everything to say. It was more or less them just simply enjoying each other's presence. Their cold hands held on to each other as he led her through the cemetery.
In the distance he heard a bit of a rumble, it sounded like someone was struggling. Though he didn't hear Buffy's voice he did hear others and it definitely sounded like trouble. Trouble was not something he wanted to involve his baby sister in, so he stopped working and turned to face her.
"Katheryn, there's trouble up ahead, I'm sure you heard it. I'm going to see what's going on, stay here and don't move." His voice sounded similiar to that of a parent grounding a child, though right now he didn't mind. He wanted her to know that he was being serious about her staying put, he couldn't take losing her again.
Hoping that she would listen to him for once, he leaned down and gave her a small kiss on the top of her tiny head. After this, he took off in the direction of the struggle with super speed hoping to get there in time.
In a matter of seconds he made his way to where the sounds had come from. The scene unfolding before him horrified him. It appeared that Buffy was unconscious and as he thought about it, the vampire was leaning into to drink from her at that exact moment. Without hesitation he ran up behind the one whom was above Buffy's throat and before they could all react, he grabbed the vampire around the shoulder and spun him to face Angel. As he did, his other fist made it's way onto the vampires face. He stumbled backwards and then his lackey's were on both sides of Angel.
Pulling the stake out of his coat quickly, he gripped it in his right hand. It was the only weapon he'd brought but it was better than nothing at all. You picked the wrong night to try to be a hero said the one whom Angel had punched. As he heard this, he sent a side kick to the vampire on his right and then a quick jab to the other on his left.
"You picked the wrong girl to kill" he spat back.
Deciding that three was too many at one time, he went closer to the vampire he'd jabbed to his left. He kicked him with all of his might and the vampire attempted to move, though he was unsuccessful. He went flying backwards and into a tree trunk and before he knew it, the other two were back right in front of him. Before he could recover from his kick, one of the vampires had sent their own kick to his back. He took it hard and stumbled, though he didn't fall. As he turned back around to face them, his face had turned into his demon visage.
A vampire protecting a slayer? Well, isn't this interesting the 'leader' spouted. Ignoring his comment, Angel flew into their direction. After taking several hits himself, he was able to defeat them. The lackey went easily and seeing his death, the leader seemed shocked. Another time then... he told Angel, before spinning around and fleeing. Even though he wanted badly to go after him, he was more worried about Buffy at the moment. Anger flashed in his eyes as he watched the vampire escape.
Turning back towards Buffy who was now on the ground, he bent down to her, vampire visage and all, and attempted to try to wake her up. He put his hand underneath her head to lift it a bit and shifted his weight so that he was holding her into his lap protectively.
"Buffy...are you okay? Wake up. Buffy, wake up" he prodded, hoping that she wasn't completely incapacitated. As he tried to wake her, he looked around to try and see where Kathy was. With the leader of their gang on the loose, he hoped he hadn't made his way to his sister. He had in fact gone the opposite way but still, things happened. Anxiously he looked around for her before returning his eyes to Buffy. Instinctively, his hand began patting her hair to comfort her, hoping that she would feel it and wake up. If not, he would take her to a hospital immediately. First he was going to try to at least give her a few minutes to respond before he did so. --------------------------------------------Tag: Kathy, Buffy Word count: 1,381 Notes: Haha nice! atheryn 'Kathy' Anne O'Connor sighed to herself. Kathy saw the look on her brother’s face when he watched her talk on the phone…it was a look she couldn’t decipher. Almost as if he was warring with himself about something, though for the life of her she couldn’t figure out what it was. She clicked her phone off and put it back in her pocket before looking back up at her brother. She missed Anthony, she truly did, he had been a constant in her life when she had no constants at all and she would never ever be able to replace him. With that said however, she would take her brother over Anthony any day. She knew that sounded harsh but it wasn’t meant to be. She loved Anthony like a best friend…but her brother was who she had been searching for her entire immortality. Her relationship with Li-Angel…had always been one that people questioned. They were closer than siblings…some said too close sometimes. However they didn’t see the way that they were treated at home. Liam…no…she reminded herself…he didn’t go by Liam anymore. It was going to take some getting used to to calling him Angel but she made a conscious decision to make sure she did her best in trying. Angel used to anger their father all the time and with that he took it out on her mother and her. Angel was more of a father than their real father was and that was the relationship they had. It was partly brother/sister and partly father/daughter. She loved Angel far more than she had ever loved her real father and she knew that Angel felt the same way about her…or at least he did when they were human. They still had a lot of catching up to do---but luckily for them they both had time. She smiled at the look on her brother’s face when she mentioned finding his girl. She would definitely have to get to know the girl who had stolen his brother’s heart---maybe play a bit of matchmaker. She wondered if she had any siblings herself. “Does your ‘close friend’” she said with quotation marks around close friend and a sarcastic tone making sure that he understood that she didn’t buy any of that close friend stuff “have any siblings?” She asked him, but didn’t get a response before he grabbed her hand and pulled her towards where he was heading. She almost commented on his silence but she felt his hand tense and then let go of hers. She heard his statement about not moving so she watched for about a minute as her brother headed over towards the fight before she took off after him. Yeah, she didn’t listen very well…but at the same time she didn’t want him out of her sight. He’d get over it. She watched as he took care of a vampire, though she had no idea if he took care of the others. Her heart almost stuttered when she saw how carefully he tried to be as he tried to wake the blonde girl up. “Will she be alright?” She asked but didn’t know whether she heard him or not. She felt out of place but wouldn’t leave. Kathy had a feeling that she would be feeling this way a lot while watching her brother and the little blonde girl. She just made a vow to suck it up and deal with it. Besides, she wanted her brother happy…and if this was who made him happy then she’d learn to deal with it. Who knows, maybe her and Buffy would be friends? Word Count- 702 Tag- Angel & Buffy Outfit- Click here to view Kathy’s outfit. Note- Cant wait for Kathy to meet Dawn. - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She couldn’t really feel anything but she had a feeling that was alright for the moment. She was exhausted, physically and emotionally exhausted. Her body would hurt…she knew that…so the fact that she couldn’t feel anything was most likely an extremely good thing. She could hear someone’s voice calling to her but she had no idea who it was or what they were saying. She felt safe though, she felt like she was protected, something she wasn’t used to feeling. She felt as if she had someone taking care of her, something she hadn’t felt in a long time. Almost like an angel was watching over her.
An angel watching over her….ANGEL! It took her a few more minutes after realizing whose voice it was calling to her before she finally became slightly aware of her surroundings. She was in Angel’s arms…though how she got there she wasn’t sure. She always knew when she was around him…she could always tell if he was close to her. It was her ‘Angel sense’ as she had called it several times over the years. It was strange. It was like her vampire sense only instead of sending chills up her spine as most vampires did, this sent a warmth through her soul that she couldn’t really explain other than she always knew when he was around. It was the reason that he could very rarely sneak up on her because she always knew when he was around…even if she sometimes didn’t consciously accept it.
Being in his arms was a lot of the same thing. She could always tell when she was being carried in his arms versus anyone else’s. Most people would assume that it was because of the colder skin or something along those lines…but it wasn’t. It was the way he held her. He cradled her to him, almost as if she were the most precious thing to him. The way that he held her as if she was glass that could break, when in reality he knew that she could hold her own and take care of everyone around her. It was nice, being in his arms. It was somewhere that she knew she would always be safe. It was somewhere that she knew that for once the burden of being the strongest, of being the protector, didn’t always lay soles on her shoulders. It was something she had gotten used to when he was in Sunnydale and then when he left it felt like the world had literally come crashing down onto her shoulders once more.
She groaned and opened her eyes, her body starting to feel the things she had been blissfully unaware of as she had been lying unconscious. “Angel?” She asked in a voice groggy. She looked over and noticed her former lover’s sister and she hoped she was alright. “What happened?” She asked him, though her mind was already coming up with images that went along with her aches and pains and she shook her head, groaning as it hurt. “Never mind. I know what happened up until I got knocked out. What happened after that?” She asked him again. Obviously she wasn’t dead…which meant that Angel had showed up in the nick of time (as he always tended to do).
She pushed herself up slightly though the pounding in her head made her lean back again. “Ugh, this is why I need to learn to look before I punch…make sure that I can you know…actually win a fight before actually attempting to do so.” She rambled before shutting herself up…she really needed an Advil…or ten.
She turned her attention to her former lover’s sister. She took a quick inventory of her, making sure that she hadn’t been hurt. She wasn’t sure where the protectiveness over this girl had come from but she felt a fierce protectiveness in her chest. It was like the protective feelings she got around Dawn but these were different in a way. Not stronger, not less strong, just different. She would analyze it later when her head didn’t pound, her body didn’t ache, and when Angel wasn’t around messing with her thoughts and emotions. “I don’t know about everyone else but I could use a hot soak in the tub…anyone else want to head home and leave the vampire slaying to another day when I can actually blink without my head exploding?” She asked, and hoped they would both agree.

--------------------------------------------Katheryn asked a question about Buffy having siblings, but he didn't respond. He heard the commotion before she'd finished the question and had already took off running. If he remembered, he would answer it later. They had all of their lives to talk and get to know each other again, Angel was never letting her go again. Not that he'd really let her go the first time but still. If there was anything in his life that he was sure about, it was that he was going to spend the rest of it with Katheryn. There was someone else he wished he could spend it with, but that was forbidden. He had also picked up on her quotation marks and again, decided to talk about that later. Perhaps, he thought he should talk to Buffy first before explaining it to Katheryn. He wondered what their relationship was, though at the same time, he knew technically, they were only friends still.
Still holding her head up, he desperately hoped that she'd be alright. He had lived without her once and it had destroyed him, it had been the hardest thing he'd ever done. Knowing that she'd died to save the world was one thing. Knowing that she died only a few hundred yards away when he could have been there was another thing entirely. If she died right now, he didn't know how he could continue going on. Though as he sensed a presence behind them, he knew he wouldn't be alone. Katheryn had followed him and blatantly disobeyed his orders for her to stay put. Typical Katheryn.. he thought to himself.
His head flashed backwards to look at Katheryn, "I don't know, she's not responding.." he told her, his voice full of worry. The lines on his forehead crinkled as he turned back to Buffy, hoping that she would wake up sometime soon. The longer she didn't respond to him, the more worried he grew. If his heart could beat it would be thudding as loud as thunder at the moment. Seeing her unconscious brought his mind back to the first time she'd died at the hands of the master.
Xander and Angel had rushed into the cave to see her lying there, dead, in a puddle. Herself and her dress were soaked and she had been drank from. Originally, they had thought that was how she'd been killed. When they realized she may have simply drowned, Angel told Xander to do CPR. He had felt so useless, he didn't have the breath to help her. It crushed him to see Xander giving her life while he just stood there, watching like a big doof. It had hurt him so much but he knew that it had to be done. Nothing had made him happier than to see her come back and kick the master's ass. Though, she hadn't made him so happy when she'd come back after her summer in L.A. That, was an entirely other story though.
He continued to prod her gently, his hand still stroking her hair while he shook her slowly, and softly. It wasn't a shaking to scare her or make her worse, but to try and get her to come to. After a few more moments he heard her heart speed back up a bit and soon after, he saw her beautiful blue eyes peek through her groggy little eyes. "Hey. It's me, I'm here.." He spoke quietly, not wanting to cause her a headache with loud sounds. Angel was almost always quiet in general so it wasn't exactly difficult to control his volume. "I got here before they were able to actually do something. One of them got away, the others...didn't." He said, his voice allowing some of his anger to peak through.
When she tried to push herself up he immediately moved one of his hands to her lower back, expecting her to fall backwards. After a hit like that, you didn't just get back up right away, slayer or not. As she fell backwards like he'd expected, he was there to catch her. If he was able to be, he would always be there to catch her. Physically and emotionally, if she would let him. If she wanted him.
Deciding to give her a hand instead of watching her struggle, he put her arm around his shoulder. As he stood up, he pulled her with him and leaned her into him for support. "That sounds like a good idea" he responded bitterly to her, still angry about letting the vampire whom had attacked her to escape. Suddenly his eyes darted to Katheryn, who was standing nearby. And you -- you should have listened to me." He told her, his voice matched that of a father's scolding a child. It wasn't that he wanted to make her feel bad or seem mad at her, he just worried about her. He wasn't used to having her in his life, they'd only just seen each other for the first time moments ago. It would take him awhile to fall back into his groove, into their groove, but he knew they would. Feeling bad that he'd met her only an hour ago and had already scolded her, his brown eyes softened as he looked back to her. "Let's just get Buffy home, okay Kath? We have our entire lives to talk" he told her gladly, clearly showing that he wasn't mad.
With this, he shifted his weight so that Buffy was leaning into him more to ensure that she wasn't carrying any of her own weight. He didn't want to further injure her by allowing her to walk by herself. Plus, he couldn't lie and say that Buffy being against him was a bad thing. Just feeling her so close, her side against his, made his dead heart want to beat. The warmth that she brought to his skin amazed him, it had since the first time they'd met. Helping Buffy with one arm, he extended his other hand out to Kathy for her to hold. --------------------------------------------Tag: Kathy, Buffy Word count: 1,032 Notes: ---- Credit: To Admin Britt for all of the amazing graphics!

atheryn 'Kathy' Anne O'Connor made a mental note to herself to get to know the blonde slayer a bit more. Katy watched as her brother hovered over the blonde girl. She was surprised to see that some of the girl’s cuts were already healing, but then what she had seen registered to her. The girl was almost as sturdy as they were. Hmmm…she would definitely need to read a bit on the slayer. She knew the basics but had a feeling in order to be kept in the loop she would need to know a bit more than just the basics of the girl her brother was obviously deeply in love with. She saw Angel put his hand out and beckon her to him and she came closer, peering down at the blonde girl. She could tell they were going to get along fine. She was usually extremely scared of new people, but not this one. She wasn’t sure if it was her or the way that her brother seemed to trust her inexplicably but either way she knew that she was no one to be scared of. She came over and leaned against her brother her head against his side. She nodded her head, all of a sudden tired. Her eyes closed but then they opened immediately and she whimpered when she heard a man’s voice and a woman’s giggle. She looked over, her body still leaning into her brothers as the man and the woman walked by then. They were human, that much she could tell, and the man seemed to have kind eyes. However his eyes didn’t meet hers, they turned towards her brother. You have a beautiful family. the man told him, obviously mistaking the scene for one of a mother, father and daughter. The thought gave her a little pang but not one of sadness. She couldn’t figure it out and would try later on when she wasn’t tired. “That’s fine. I need to go to my hotel and get my clothes and stuff anyway.” She told him, standing up and dragging him along. She smiled shyly at the blonde girl before grabbing her hand as well, making sure they both came with her. She led everyone out the gates of the cemetery and laughed when she saw three cars. She took her keys out of her pocket and unlocked her doors, her black and pink mustang beeping. “If someone will give me the address to the house I can meet everyone there. I need to go get my stuff.” She told them, reaching into her pocket and grabbing her ponytail holder, throwing her hair up. She also reached in and grabbed her eye shadow, putting it on. Her look was transforming right before their eyes, her childish look transformed into one who looked more like a 16 or 17 year old than the 11 year old she really was. - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She shook her head again, trying to clear the haze. She wasn’t dizzy, she wasn’t nauseous, she was just tired and achy. She knew she didn’t have a concussion, though she also knew that Angel wouldn’t believe her until either he or Willow checked her out. She could always ask Dawn to do it as well since she had learned the signs over the years, but she hoped that her younger sister was asleep. Her brain was fuzzy but that was more for the fact that Angel was holding her rather than her fight with the crazy vampires.
She knew that she was being a bit irresponsible about letting that last vampire go and once Angel set her down she thought briefly about going after it but once she took a step and her head pounded she bit her lip to hold in the groan. There was no way she could fight any more tonight. She would be fine tomorrow but at this rate she would be better off going home and recuperating versus attempting to go and bag the last vampire. She knew she could ask Angel to do it but she wasn’t one to rely on people to do her job any longer. If it would have been several years ago back in Sunnydale she would have had no problem asking him to help her out and go and bag the last vampire, but not anymore. It wasn’t that she didn’t trust him, she did…she was just so used to relying on herself for so long that it was hard…almost impossible for her to ask for help anymore.
She shook her head again, this time taking another step and breathing through the pain in her head. Her neck was stiff, her back ached, and she knew she’d need to soak in a hot bath and put some Neosporin on her cuts and bruises to make sure they didn’t scar or else she’d look like Frankenstein.
She heard Angel call to his sister but her thoughts were interrupted by the man and woman walking near them commenting on the beautiful family that Angel had. She looked away, her hair covering her face as a blush graced her cheeks. She knew what the man thought. He looked at her and Angel and saw husband and wife…he looked at Kathy and saw a blend of the two of them….a daughter. It was a nice thought, but one that would never happen. She and Angel would never be husband and wife and they would never have a child. It was a wish that she had used a lot of birthday candles, shooting stars, and other things on, and a wish that would never come true.
She heard Angel’s statement about heading home .“There are 3 or 4 rooms downstairs that are blocked out from the sun if you want your own room Kathy.” She told her, finally meeting her eyes. “I understand if you want to stay with the big guy over here but you have the option of having your own space.” She told her, hoping it was alright with Angel that she stepped in. She knew she would need to be careful. She’d never seen Angel around his sister (for obvious reasons) so she wasn’t sure what would be appropriate for her to say and what wouldn’t. She knew it would take time but she would get used to it…she had definitely mellowed over the years, becoming a go with the flow type person versus the uptight one she used to be.
She was surprised when she felt a small hand in hers and looked down, smiling at the brunette child as she dragged her and Angel towards the entrance of the cemetery. She opened her mouth to say something but stopped when she saw a gorgeous Mustang in black and pink. Her eyes widened when she saw it blink and took in the key fob in Kathy’s hand. She watched in amazement (and amusement at just the thought of what Angel could be thinking at the moment) as Kathy transformed herself into an older looking teenager. She wanted to comment on it but kept her mouth shut, instead grabbing her own keys from her back pocket and unlocking her rental car. It was official, an 11 year old had a cooler car than she did. She would definitely be taking her rental car back tomorrow and going and buying a better one.
She wondered if Kathy would want to go with her. She heard her question and quickly grabbed a pen and a pad of paper from her boot (she had learned to always have them handy) and scribbled down the address for her. “It’s about a half an hour away.” She told her, smiling a bit. “I can follow you to your hotel and help you if you want.” She stated, though bit her tongue after she said it, hoping she wasn’t stepping on Angel’s toes at all. She really needed to learn her boundaries where Kathy was concerned instead of treating her like she did Dawn. This was Angel’s sister…his family…and she needed to remember that.

--------------------------------------------The three of them had linked their hands together, now walking with one another towards the outside of the cemetery. Kathy had leaned against him and he knew that she was tired. Even vampires needed sleep sometimes, though Angel wasn't used to get very much himself. To him, sleep was a privilege and a valued one at that. He enjoyed a small cat nap from time to time but he rarely, if ever, slept more than a few hours at a time. Once he laid down his mind was ridden with thoughts, too many for him to think about at once. It ended up keeping him awake for hours at night. His mind went to fast for him to keep up with, too many things bothering him, pondering far too much than any one person should. He had always been a bit of a thinker, of a daydreamer, a philosopher.
It was oddly comforting being with both Buffy and Kathy right now. Of course he loved them both, in very different ways. Kathy was his baby sister and in a way he'd also been her father figure. There was nothing he wouldn't do for either of them. Buffy on the other hand, he loved...well, he just loved her. They were soul mates and it was pretty obvious to everyone around them as well. If not for his curse, they would probably still be together this day. In fact, they surely would be. Angel couldn't think of a better way to live out his life than with her. Falling asleep with her in his arms and waking up to her small, half smile that she used so often. Now that he was newly reunited with Katheryn as well, he pictured them all being happy together. Almost like their own little family, the family he never had and never would.
Apparently, some passerby's had thought the exact same thing. A man that had been walking by had assumed that they were all indeed a family, and commented on them. Angel hadn't known what to say in response to the man. Katheryn was of course his family, though not his daughter. And Buffy....well -- he wasn't sure what Buffy was, not anymore anyways. For a second, he swore he thought he saw the slayer blush and turn her face away from him. He wouldn't be surprised, it put all of them in an odd position. It made the vampire and his slayer wonder what they had between them, what they were. Not really knowing what to say to the man, Angel just flashed him a small smile of acknowledgement.
Before they knew it, they were all back to their cars. It hadn't been that long of a walk, as Angel just realized they really hadn't gone that deep into the cemetery before coming upon Katheryn. A pink car was in the parking lot next to his and he wondered vaguely why he hadn't noticed it before, as it stood out immensely. His sister than began putting on what seemed to be pounds, of makeup, before unlocking her car and asking for the address. Buffy responded to her question, than letting her know that she could stay with Angel or have her own room. At the mention of his name, his eyes left the ground and looked up to the two standing before him. "Either way is fine with me, what ever your more comfortable with." His voice was solemn, a bit of his normal brooding self within it.
Right now he was torn between both of the women in his life. It didn't matter that Katheryn hadn't been in it very long, she was in it now and she was there for good. He knew that Buffy needed to get home and be checked out, but he also didn't want to let Katheryn out of his sight. He didn't want to overstep his boundaries with her and treat her like he was her father, but he wanted her to be safe. His eyes flickered back and forth between the two of them before he finally made a decision.
Shifting his weight from one foot to the other, he finally spoke up. "Buffy, I'm going to call someone to come get you...Please, don't argue." He hoped that she wouldn't put up a fight, his tone was caring to let her know that he wasn't just being controlling. Another thing that he hoped she didn't think, was that he didn't care about her. He did, and that's exactly why she wasn't going with him. His face then turned back to Katheryn, "and you and I, are going to get your stuff." He told her with a small smile, walking over to her car and reaching in his coat for his cell phone.
Quickly he called the house and had a potential come pick her up, the first one that had answered with a license. One the potential arrived, Angel helped Buffy into the car, even though the glare she gave him told him that she didn't need help. His brown eyes gave her a longing look as the car door shut. He then moved to get into Katheyrn's car, he would come back for his later. As he got inside, he gave Buffy one last look of fear at getting into a bright pink car. --------------------------------------------Tag: Kathy, Buffy Word count: 901 Notes: Sorry about the godmodding Britt.
