- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -He smiled at Lisa and Ben. He could feel his child’s anger leaving her…he just knew. He knew his daughter like the back of his hand. He hadn’t been there for her birth and even though it killed him, he still knew her like he had that immediate bond with her that most parents get. He still remembered the first time that he had held her. He had gotten a phone call from a hospital in the same town his brother's college was in. The hospital wouldn't tell him anything other than he needed to get there as soon as possible. Chase had no idea what the hospital would want with a 13 year old but he told his parents and they all immediately set out for Seattle. None of them could get a hold of Sean and they all assumed the worst. None of them could have possibly imagined what they were told when they got there.
Upon arriving at the hospital Chase and his parents were sent in to Doctor Peterson's office and informed that a young college girl had come in giving birth, and as soon as she had she left the baby there, with only a name and number of the father…
The name was Chase Carter Wyatt…and the phone number was his.
His parents were outraged and were even more upset when they heard the whole story. Marie and Andrew immediately wanted to sign papers with Chase giving the baby up for adoption, stating that a 13 year old couldn't take care of a child. However Chase surprised everyone by asking to see the baby. The doctor immediately conceded and had a nurse bring in the baby wrapped up in a pink blanket. The nurse handed the little girl to Chase and immediately he knew that he wouldn't be giving her up for adoption. After much begging and arguing he refused to sign over parental rights to his daughter and since he refused the doctors couldn't do anything about it.
He would never forget the feeling that he had as he held his daughter for the first time. He had never thought of having kids, he was only 13 for god’s sake…but it didn’t matter to him. He loved his child with every fiber of his being and would do whatever it was that he could to keep her warm, safe, and loved.
In doing this it meant spending all his time with her while he wasn’t at school. It was tough, he wouldn’t lie. But he didn’t regret any of it. This also meant that he knew his daughter’s actions and behaviors like no one else. He could tell as she took her thumb out of her mouth that she was slowly calming down. He waited for an answer but wasn’t given a verbal one to whether she wanted to play with Ben or not. Her only way of showing what she wanted was to let her arms drop to her side. That meant that she was okay with being set down but she wasn’t wiggling…meaning that she was okay with whatever.
He could see the longing in her eyes for the ball and he smiled, crouching down and setting her on the grass before once again turning her head towards his and looking her straight in the eye. “Alright, you can play. However, you be nice, you listen if Ben tells you something, and you play with him.” He clearly told her. “I don’t want to see you hogging the ball baby girl. Other than that go play.” He told her, giving her a pat to her butt before nodding over. “Make sure that I can still see you also.” He told her before turning his attention back to Ben and Lisa. “Thanks for offering to play with her.” He told him, smiling. “Also, she’s a tough cookie most of the time. So don’t worry…and don’t let her boss you around.” He threw out a grin. “She tends to think she’s the boss even though she’s so tiny.” He said to Ben.
“So, I’m new to Mystic Falls…what about you? Lived here long?” This time it was directed to Lisa, as he hoped the kids would scurry off and play. It would be nice to have an adult conversation for once (and no, AJ didn’t count as an adult at the moment).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ben handed the ball to Lilly-Anne, he knew she would want to have it. Ben was a good boy and didn't mind her taking charge. Ben wouldn't allow her to be too in charge, there were always ground rules at the park and Ben followed them plus he heard her dad tell her to be nice and to listen. Ben nodded to chase when he told him not to let Lilly-Anne push him around. He wasn't too worried about it. He smiled as he left the blanket they were standing at. He didn't go too far because he wanted to make sure that they stayed in sight of their parents. Lisa didn't like Ben going off too far either because there were weird-Os and monsters. She was protective but still calm.
Lisa turned to Chase as he spoke to her "I am actually new as well. I have lived here for about a year. How long have you lived here?" Lisa looked at him with a friendly face. She was kind to everyone and she never judged either unless they had a reason to be judged. Lisa liked the fact that he was so young but he was a good father. Those were rare and she knew it. she was proud of him really she didn't know him but she was proud. It took a lot f effort to raise a child and to do it when so young was amazing. Lisa looked over at Ben who was off playing ball he was being good and that made her happy. Not that Ben really ever got into trouble anymore but still he was just a child and things did happen. "So how old is Lilly-Anne?" She asked even though Lisa was pretty sure she already knew the age. But you never know. Lisa took a seat on the ground. The grass was cool against her hands. It was such a nice day out she was glad she got Ben to come to the park with her.
She was very curious about Chase and wanted to ask him a lot. Nothing really about parenting because well she was a mother and already passed the little, little stage of life she was getting into the preteens and up section now which was going to be a little difficult especially with Dean not around that much. Maybe making a friend who was younger than her wouldn't be too bad. There were perks to it all. Lisa turned her attention back to Chase.

It did not take long for her daddy to figure out what she wanted. When her feet touched the ground she was about to go take the ball, but she was stopped and her head was turned to her daddy. He wanted her full attention and she had no choice but o give it. It was like a power struggle with the two of them. Chase needed the power, and should have it, but Lilly-Anne wanted it, but could never have it. So she'd choose not to pay attention, that was her way of taking the power back. But of course Chase figured this out, and every trick she had. So Lilly-Anne had to listen, had to be good, despite her great need to 'be bad'. Well no so much to be bad, but to get what she wanted. She was a smart little girl, only Chase was smarter. She knew the rules and there was no way she could get out of not knowing. He set the rules down, and she had to listen. When she was given a little pat on her behind, she moved a few steps to Ben. She had her thumb back in her mouth, as she looked up at him. Ben held out the ball, and Lilly-Anne let out a little shriek of excitement. She pulled her thumb from her mouth and took the ball from his hands. She did a little excited jump, before doing her best throw. And off the ball bounced away from the blanket, rolling in the glass. "Ball!" She shrieked quietly, before she ran off after the ball, not expecting Ben to follow her. She figured he'd just stay put and talk to grownups. Lilly-Anne did not have many, well any friends that were children. After a second of her running as fast as her little legs would take her, she threw herself on the ball, bouncing off the ball and landing on the grass lightly. Her jumping on the ball had sent it off in another direction, and when she landed on the grass she giggled, looking up to see Ben. "Ball!" She giggled again pointing at the ball, wanting him to jump on it too... Only he was much to big to be jumping on the ball. The ball would die if he did, seeing as he was much too big. But Lilly-Anne was not good with spacial relations or weight. She just though it was fun and she wated him to try it too. ((Haha it would be. But that depends on how much of a push over Ben is. She may be shy now... but just wait until her daddy stops paying attention to her....well you know when he gets more interested in the convo and not what Lilly-Anne's doin'. Muahaha.))

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -He smiled at the kids before turning his attention back to Lisa. He was still trying to figure out how old she was, though it was something she would never ask. His mother may have turned out to be a psycho who had abused his child, but in the beginning she had taught him and his brother right. They had manners, had class, and had dignity. They had learned at an early age how to treat a woman and asking a woman their age or their weight were two things that both him and his brother were very well aware was not a polite thing to ask.
He shook his head, clearing his thoughts. He really needed to stop going off on random tangents in his head before he offended someone. He was usually a people pleaser for the most part and would hate to offend anyone who didn’t deserve to be offended. He heard her comment about having lived here for a year and nodded with a smile. “I’ve only been here for about two months. My brother, my sister in law, my best friend, my daughter and I were planning on moving earlier this summer but unfortunately things took longer to get settled back where we are from so we only got here about a week before classes started.” He told her with a smile.
He knew some people were uncomfortable sharing their stories with people, but that wasn’t him. Sure he sometimes missed being a regular teenager but he didn’t regret the path his life had taken him. If he wouldn’t have made the decisions he made when he was younger he would have never had Lilly-Anne and that concept was inconceivable to him. He could tell that Lisa was trying to put the pieces together on his age and his daughter but out of politeness she wasn’t asking. He usually would play along, making the person ask…but he liked Lisa…she seemed like she would be someone he could have a friendship with, so he decided to not play around and simply answer the questions…both the verbal questions she asked and the ones that he knew she had to be thinking.
“Lilly-Anne is 4. I’m 17.” He told her, not waiting to see the look on her face before continuing. “Everyone always asks how I have a 4 year old daughter at the age of 17 so I’ll tell you. Long story short my brother is several years older than me. He was in college when I was 12. He was babysitting me one night and got invited to a party. He took me with him and left me alone for a whole 2.3 seconds when some drunk girl came and literally attacked my face. Okay, I was 12…I was getting kissed by a college girl (I didn’t look my age at all) so I went with it. You can probably guess what happened next. So 8 months later I get a phone call from the hospital where my brother lived and they told me I was needed right away. My parents and I drove up there and found out the girl had left my name has the father of this child and had signed away all parental rights. At first I was going to give her up for adoption but I asked to see her before I did. They brought her to me, I held her, and two hours later I was taking her home with me.” He told her, laughing a bit at the thoughts of his 12 year old self.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lisa listened as Chase told her his story. It was rather impressive that he would tell a stranger how he had gotten his daughter but it just showed that he was an open person and really didn't seem to care what people thought. It was a good quality in Lisa's mind because she to did not care what others through about her. She could be a bit strange at times but it was just who she was. Lisa smiled at Chase, she wasn't too much older than him. Plus she was fairly young when she had Ben as well, not as young but young enough, she was about how old he was now when she had Ben. "Well that is quite a story. You seem to have your head on straight though so that is a good thing. I was 17 when I had Ben. I went through a lot with that child but he has turned out wonderful." Lisa knew she had given her age away not that she really cared if people knew or not. Age to her was just a number. It really all depended on how the person acted and well Lisa was rather mature all through her life so being 28 suited her just fine.
"So are you able to balance out school and being a dad ok?" She was curious, it was hard being a parent and in school she knew from experience but if done right one was able to balance it out. Although she had a tough time because she was a lone doing it. Lisa didn't know who the father was, which probably sounded bad but there were only two men that could have been the father and one of them she is with now who most people think it is his although Lisa doubts that and insists on it being the other mans child. It didn't change anything though Lisa still loved Dean and so did Ben. It was also nice that Dean had taken Ben in as his child technically so in all reality everything was just fine. Maybe one day Lisa will get a test to see but that is for a later time.
Ben had followed Lilly-Anne watching her pounce on the ball. It was rather cute, he could not do it of course because he was... Well he was too big plus he was content in just watching her. She was so small and she played with a ball that was practically the size of her. Ben found it amusing. She made him laugh a lot. He wasn't use to playing with such a small child but Chase had told him she was a tough cookie so that was always a good thing especially in small children.
When Lilly-Anne had pointed at the ball and looked at him like she expected him to do the same, he shrugged at her and gave it a shot anyways not really landing on the ball but he pretended to. He rolled on the ground and rolled the ball over to Lilly-Anne so she could pounce on it or throw it if she pleased. Ben smiled at her and said "Ball." he nodded as the ball rolled forwards towards the little girl sitting on the grass. It was a soft roll so it didn't zoom by her instead it stopped only a couple inches away from her. The big round orange ball just setting in the light green grass getting warm by the sun that was above them.

Lilly-Anne was pretty much thrilled that he would actually listen to her. Usually when she was playing with her uncle, he'd do things just to piss her off. But that was because she needed to learn. Though that was not all the time, just most of the time. Same with her father, and AJ was getting into that as well. Just because she said something did not make it law. Though in Lilly-Anne's mind it did. What she said... goes. Well that's how she'd always want it to be anyway. Learning to share, and learning that other people had feelings, want's and needs was not at the top of her learn list. So by Ben doing just what she wanted him to do, made her smile. She loved being little miss bossy pants. Though she had to be good. She must be! Her daddy said she had to... but then again What daddy don't know wont hurt him. Echoed in her mind. AJ said that quite a bit. Seeing as she could get away with things around AJ that her father would never allow. But that's a different story. Lilly-Anne stood up and clapped her little hands a few times as the ball came rolling towards her. She totally missed the fact that Ben faked his whole little performance there. But even if she caught that, it would have not mattered. He still listened. When the ball stopped a few inches short from her foot. She let out another little shriek, before she kicked the ball as hard as she could. Her foot made contact with the ball, and off it went rolling back in the general direction of Ben. Lilly-Anne did not know how to aim yet, though for how little she was, she sure did have some strength. It went further then most people would have expected seeing her size and all. But Lilly-Anne was a potential slayer and a little extra strength came with the gig. Though if she were up to her full health, she was sure she could kick further. But of course with her past, and with her general dislike for food, it was hard to gain the weight she needed. Lilly-Anne was satisfied with her kick. If she had not been, she would have run after it, picked it up and brought it back for a re-do. But her kicked worked for her. Yeah it was a way's off from where Ben stood, but it would have reached him just fine, if she knew how to aim. But Lilly-Anne usually just kicked, or threw stuff with out trying to aim, or looking where it should go. She just knew she wanted it by Ben, and that's where it would go. If he had to walk a few steps or whatever to get the ball, so be it. It was still in his general area. "Ball ball!" Lilly-Anne said turning around and skipping a little towards the blanket, where her dolls lay untouched. She stopped short and turned waiting for the ball to reach her. She knew he'd get the ball to her somehow, he proved that by pouncing on the ball when she asked. Lilly-Anne loved playing with the ball, but she was thinking she might want to move over to her dolls. She did not get that much of a chance to really play with them. Chase was not a fan of RPing with her dolls, same with AJ and the rest. So generally her dolls are untouched. So she was trying to figure out if she wanted to make Ben play with her dolls with her, or if she should keep playing with the ball. That's why she moved closer to the blanket. She also wanted to see how much Ben would take from her. Everyone had their point, there piss off point, she just had to find Ben's. She also had to be slick with it. With Chase being so close, she could not let him think she was being a sneaky girl. Ever since AJ taught her how to sneak in the kitchen and steal some cookies, she's been known to be a little sneaky. She's just testing her boundaries. ((That we will... Hehe Sorry a little distracted while writing this post! ))

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -He smiled at the young woman in front of him. It was nice not to be judged for how old he was and how old his daughter was. He could still remember a time when he had informed his principal at his old school that he had a child. He had actually gone through several schools because of his past. His last principal had actually kicked him out of school because he had a child at such a young age. His principal had said that he was promoting pre-marital sex and that him and his bastard child (who was 2 at the time) had no business being at his school. Needless to say a lawsuit was formed and he won…though he had no interest in returning to that school.
“Having a child at a young age can be extremely difficult. Luckily my parents were there for me in the beginning and my brother and sister in law along with my best friend are there for me and Lilly-Anne now so I’ve got a good support system. I wished my parents were also still in the picture but beggars can’t be choosers. I figure as long as Lilly-Anne is safe, happy, warm, and healthy…everything else is just gravy.” He said with a crooked smile, his dimples showing as he did. “Ben seems like a great kid…you’ve seemed to do a great job in raising him. Most boys his age are terrors. Trust me, I was one and so was my brother. I’m shocked we didn’t give the babysitters heart attacks at his age. And playing with younger girls who wanted our stuff? Wouldn’t have happened? We would have pulled her hair or something.” He told her with a laugh. “So the fact that he’s over there playing with Lilly-Anne is a miracle in my eyes.” He stated with a fond smile directed at the two children.
He shrugged at her question before nodding, knowing he had probably just confused her with his non-verbal answer. “If I wouldn’t have my best friend and my sister in law I’d probably be extremely screwed, I’m not going to lie. My sister in law Alice only works 3 days a week so she’s able to watch Lilly-Anne while I’m in school the other two days. And my best friend AJ watches her the three days that my sister in law works. It’s not really fair to them but they are all really good about helping. I really technically could have graduated last semester but my brother wanted me to graduate with my class so him, his wife and AJ made the arrangement that they did in order to allow me the ‘normal high school experience’ whatever the heck that means.” He stated with a laugh.
“However as for actually balancing out school and Lilly-Anne…it’s tough but I manage. She’s luckily a good kid for the most part and understands daddy has to work…though there are some tough times. How did you handle having Ben in what, your Junior or Senior year? Were you able to go to college with him being such a young child or did you have to put it off?” He asked her curiously.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ben watched as Lilly-Anne chased the orange ball around. It made him smile, she was so small and so spunky it was rather cute. Ben wasn't really use to hanging out with younger kids, let alone younger girls. It was different for him but he felt as if he was doing a rather good job at it. As she raced off after the ball Ben went over to his own blanket to grab his water bottle he was thirsty and it was rather warm out. With his water bottle in hand he made his way back over to the other blanket where his mother and Chase were talking. It was good to see his mom making new friends. Since they had gotten here she has been too busy with everything to really talk with people so it was nice, plus Ben liked Chase he seemed like a cool guy and even though he was a parent he didn't seem all too much like an adult. But that was just Ben and well he really didn't know the guy.
Ben watched as Lilly-Anne kind of snuck her way over than he looked at the blanket and there laying on the ground were dolls... Ben crinkled his nose a little. Dolls were such a girls toy and he wasn't really sure he would want to play with them. Ben much rather play with the ball than little dolls. Taking another drink he just kind of stood there and watched her, not too sure if he really wanted to interact with the doll playing. Ben looked from Lilly-Anne over to his mother whom was still talking, he wondered how long they would be staying at the park. It was nice they never really got to do much together because they were always busy working on the house... Well Lisa was any ways. Ben helped with what he could but that list was not very long.
Chase had asked Lisa how she did it. That was a good question, she never really had help "Well honestly I went to do online schooling so I could get a job and provide for Ben and myself. I didn't have much help with family or friends. I did it all pretty much on my own. Ben doesn't know his father. The man I am with now is the closest thing he has and well he only came back when Ben was eight so he hasn't been around much either." Lisa smiled a little. Her life was very difficult and she knew where Chase was coming from. Although some who may see Dean would think Ben was his but in all reality Lisa had no clue... There was a possibility although she had already told Dean he wasn't his. If she really wanted to find out all she would need to do is get a DNA test done. But she wasn't really sure if she wanted to know the truth or not.
Lisa looked over at Ben who was still with Lilly-Anne. It was nice to see him interacting with a girl and not being a typical boy, it made her smile "Guess I raised him right." She laughed a little. "He use to be a little terror when he was younger. I think it was just a stage though. Overall he has been an amazing child. I couldn't have asked for a better son." It was true and slightly amazing, children aren't normally so great but Ben seemed to be, he was always an only child and seemed to find ways to entertain himself, it was nice really. Of course Lisa gave him a ton of attention but not enough to make him spoiled or anything. She was really proud of Ben that was for sure.
"College... I did a little, mostly on line. He was too young to leave at a babysitters for too long and I worked a lot as is so there wasn't much to get done. I didn't get any degrees. It was just too much at the time. And than we had some family problems so I honestly haven't really gotten around to do it. Maybe one of these days I will go back but as of right now I just can't afford it or have the time for it, especially now that Ben is started up football." Lisa was not ashamed to admit that she didn't graduate from college. She tried her best and that is all she could do. She also planned to go back on day but she wasn't very sure of when that would be. Other things had to be fixed first and well she wasn't really comfortable leaving her child with people, ever since she found out what was really out there things have gotten a lot harder for the Braeden family.

The orange ball was pretty far away but Lilly-Anne being the good little girl she was ran over to get it. She kicked it a few times until she got it as close to the blankets as she could. When she was pretty close and did not want to risk kicking it, because god only knows where it would end up. She rolled the ball the rest of the way using her little hands. She'd have no problem carrying it but she was quite tired. She had barely had more then a bite to eat this morning, so naturally her body was going to put her to sleep to save whatever energy she had left, after running and playing. Lilly-Anne left the ball between the blankets that were out.
She looked down at the barbies then up at Ben. She was sleepy and she wanted to play with them, but he did not seem very interested. But she could not run anymore. She was getting kind of cranky too. Nap time was fast approaching, and it was time for Lilly-Anne to eat yet another snack. That was what her day consisted of, snacks and naps, some running and being crazy, but a lot of down time, which she needed. Anyway it was pretty hot out and she had not had anything to drink, so that added to her tired eyes.
She rubbed her eyes as she looked down at the barbies. Ben just watched her making no move to play with her, so she figured it was time to play by herself. Which was fine. Lilly-Anne was used to that kind of stuff. Daddy could only play for so long before he had to leave. Same with AJ and the rest of the gang. So if he was done playing that was just fine with her at the moment. She sat down on the blanket and picked up two barbies. She made them move, but she said nothing. She was telling herself a story in her head, so where it might look like she was just moving the dolls, not to her. Soon though, she found herself lying down on her side just looking at the barbie she held in her hand. Her eyes were heavy, and struggled to stay open. Lilly-Anne did not like taking naps. She always felt like she was missing something when she slept. But no matter how hard she would fight to stay awake, sleep would always win.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -He opened his mouth to respond to Lisa’s comments and questions but before he could he felt a little weight settle next to him. He could tell his baby was tired and when he looked at the time he realized why. His daughter was like him in a lot of ways. When she didn’t get the right amount of sleep she usually went one of two ways.
One she was extremely crabby…and when he said crabby, he meant crabby. His little girl had a temper on her that rivaled the worst of people he had met and it wasn’t a very pleasant experience. The other way it could go was that she got extremely clingy…also baby like (though she was only 4) and wanted to be held and cuddled and carried.
He always preferred the clingy to the crabby…it was much easier to deal with. Especially if he couldn’t get her to bed right away. The longer she stayed up crabby the worst her temper got and it took him that much longer to get her to sleep. The clingy however, usually he could carry her for a bit and she’d immediately fall asleep, too tired to even try and stay up.
He smiled down at his little one, his hand brushing the hair out of her face. His eyes took in her innocent form and for a minute he couldn’t believe that she was his. This happened a lot with him because of how young he was and how young he had been when he had been told that he was a father. He still to this day looked at his daughter in wonder on how much things had changed in such a few short years. The years that his peers spent drinking, doing drugs, etc…he was learning how to be the best father he could be.
“I need to get this little princess home for her nap.” He told her apologetically before taking out a piece of paper and jotting his number down. “Give me a call sometime, we can set up a play date for the two kiddos if you’d like.” He told her before scooping his child up and cradling her to his chest. “Have a good one.” He stated before waving and walking off towards his car.
He hated to be rude and just walk away, but his child came first and it was definitely time for her to have her nap.
