- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -It had been a short day so far. She had left Andrew and Willow at the house to let them finish unpacking…well…Willow was pretty much done with her room thanks to magic. Andrew hadn’t really started, so she had left Willow in charge of helping him. They needed to look normal in case someone came by to look at the house. The house was for rent only because no one could afford to buy it with the housing market the way that it was. She and Giles had discussed buying it if they ended up staying longer in Mystic Falls than a month. The rent on it was astronomical and it would be cheaper in the long run to buy the damn thing instead of renting it. It would also work out well if the potential that they were here for (though she had gotten a phone call earlier in the week stating that the coven was trying to locate others who were in the area) decided she didn’t want to train at the school and wanted to stay in Mystic. This way the watcher (whether it be Andrew or another) would already have a place to stay while he worked with his new slayer. It would be easier in the long run, and that’s what they had pretty much determined. She still hadn’t asked about paperwork or anything yet because she wasn’t sure how long they were staying…but it was a definite possibility in the near future.
Now she was on a mission…sort of. Angel was in town, which was a definite plus in her book. However at the moment he was staying with them, and she promised Willow that she would make sure they had the right ingredients in case he ever went evil again in order to curse him. Angel didn’t know it, but as soon as he came back from hell (and the group found out) they had hidden several Orbs of Thesulah around Sunnydale (most every house at one as well as the library, and later on the magic box. When he moved out to Los Angeles and they had found out Cordelia was out there (and later Wesley) Willow had given everyone a demonstration on how to do it in case need be. Each orb had the bag of ingredients as well as the incantation. Angel would never be soulless again for very long if they could help it. Unfortunately everything was lost when the group blew up Sunnydale…so the slayer had ordered the items she needed from Mystic Valley. It was a small Wiccan shop in Mystic Falls (another reason why she had a feeling more paranormal activity was around this town that she had originally suspected) and it had finally come in.
She walked in; the bell on the top of the door rang as she walked towards the front counter. She smiled at the woman behind it and pulled out her id. This place was very particular about their clientele…they would only sell certain things to certain people. Obviously the shop had the main items on the floor…candles…(certain) herbs…stuff of that nature. But the powerful stuff was in back under lock and key. Thankfully the owner was an old friend of Giles (who had actually talked him through owning the Magic Box) and as long as she had her picture ID that proved it was her, she was able to pick up her items that she needed. The same courtesy went to Willow as well, though Giles (he didn’t think she knew, but she had overheard the phone call) told the owner that Willow needed to be watched on how much magic she did…just in case.
The woman behind the counter smiled and spoke with a rich English accent, the sound immediately causing Buffy to miss her watcher. Hello, how can I help you? Buffy smiled. “Hi, I’m Buffy Summers. I’m here picking a few items up that I called in a week ago?” She answered, handing the woman her ID. She watched as the woman, by her nametag whose name was Julie, looked at it for a second before handing it back to her. Sure, I’ll be back in a few minutes. The orbs just came in last night so I’ll need to get those out. If you can walk around for a few moments I’ll be right with you. She stated and walked out as soon as Buffy herself nodded.
Once the woman had walked behind the door leading to the back, Buffy herself headed towards the rows of candles, smiling at the familiar smell of a magic store. She missed the magic box, and not for the first time since the entire incident, she missed Sunnydale.

"Essence of toad and Twice blessed sage." Aj said as he removed himself from the grip of a young girl. "Yes, I swear I have it all down. I'll get them for you, really no worries. You'll have them by tomorrow when I get off work! Just relax and watch some Hannah Montana or something!" Aj said with a grin on his face. Ah yes that would do it. The magic words to get Lilly-Anne off his leg, and bugging the shit out of Chase, her father. Of course this also made it really easy for AJ to slip away, seeing as Lilly-Anne was too busy screaming for Chase to turn on her show. God he loved how easy it was to get away. Two small words and Lilly-Anne would go off, like a ticking time bomb, just say the magic words and BOOOM! off she went.
Aj left the house. The last thing he saw was Lilly-Anne trying to drag her father down the hall to the TV, but of course he could not move fast enough. As the door shut, there was quiet. He let out a sigh as he walked down the steps to the sidewalk. The sun was out, and AJ was still amazed at the bright light the sun gave off. Before Chase he was never able to be out in the sun, he was a vampire after all, but with this ring that Chase (And Lilly-Anne) gave him, he could be. When he first got the ring he really did not trust the thing. In fact he wanted nothing to do with it, he almost tossed it. But Lilly-Anne asked him to wear it and AJ could not say no. Of course the second he put it on Chase opened the curtain and AJ found himself standing in direct sunlight with no ill effects. Aj still does not trust the ring that much. Magic or no magic still, it was weird. It was not natural or normal or anything, it was just weird. But he's gotten over his distrust for the thing. Now he wears it 24/7 it never comes off... just in case.
So here he was walking down the street like well a normal person. Wearing his typical outfit, jeans, a dark colored shirt, which happened to be black to day, and his not so shinny and not so new black shoes. They only looked new because AJ took care of his crap. That's why they lasted so long.
It was not that long of a walk, before he reached the little magic shop. Before he pushed open the doors he had to stop and think for a moment, what was it that Chase wanted? No wonder Chase was so annoying when it came to AJ picking him up crap. AJ just did not listen and if he did, he often forgot. Something more important usually came up or so AJ would say. Seeing as it was day and AJ still was, after all the years he knew Chase and Lilly-Anne, still he was shocked with the whole going on in the light thing. So naturally his mind would wonder to the pretty things he missed out on when he was nocturnal.
It took him a few moments standing outside the shop before he remembered what Chase needed. AJ was not going to call him this time. Nope. So in the door he went. "MRS. BARKER?" AJ called as he pushed the door open, the little bell ringing as the door made it's way closed. "I'm here for Ughhh... some kind of-" Aj said but stopped when he did not see anyone at the counter. Well that was strange. Very strange. She was usually right there sitting at that darn counter with a big old smile on her face, ready to welcome the world into her little shop. But today she was not here... She must be in the back getting some stuff sorted out, though it was strange for her to leave the counter alone like that. Maybe she was helping someone.... though no one ever really came in here, and AJ did not hear anyone, or see anyone for that matter, not that he was looking all that hard. He would have herd talking, if she was helping someone then there would be talking. Man this was weird. Of well guess he'd have to go off and search for the toad whatever and the smelly crap.
Man Chase is going to be pissed when he gets his order wrong. No really. AJ did not shop, he was not a shopper never was, so how was he going to find this crap. Normally he busted in her screamed out his order and chatted with the nice old women while she gathered and wrapped his things. AJ would pay for it and then be on his merry little way. Done. But nope not today he'd have to get his own crap... this could be a very painful process. Last time he tried to shop on his own... well a little bit of holy water was split... Yeah AJ still has not fully recovered from that one! Mrs. Barker never let him touch anything anyway, for AJ has a habit of breaking things.... he has yet to figure out why, but the more costly an item is, the more likely it is to be broken by Mr. AJ here. But eh that was his life. Even before his vampire day's when he was human he broke well everything, guess that's one trait that refused to leave him. Oddly he was alright with that. He must say it was quite the conversation starter. Without it, he'd never had made friends with Mrs. Barker.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She sighed as she continued to browse the candles. She heard someone come in and bellow out the name of who she was assuming was the store owner, but after that it became quiet. The hair tickled the back of her neck though as she got goose bumps…the same as she would get around vampires. She looked outside the window that was to her right and noticed it was still sunlight out, so she wasn’t sure how it was possible that a vampire would be near, but she made a mental note to keep her guard up. The thought also made her wonder if the rumors she had been hearing while in this small town had been true. She had heard from several vampires (right before she staked them) that there were vampires here who wore rings that protected them from the sunlight. The only one she had ever heard of like that was the Gem of Amara and she was well aware that Angel had smashed it. She remembered being extremely annoyed when Oz had brought back word that Angel had gotten rid of it…but after an explanation (and a long rant to Willow) she had realized exactly what he had done it and she forgave him…though she wasn’t sure if she had ever told him that or not.
In front of her she noticed the candles that they had sold at the magic box. They were the tiny ones that were just enough to use for certain spells, but didn’t cause a huge commotion. They were also not as dangerous for people like her sister who tended to trip over everything and just generally cause carnage wherever she went. She picked one up and then jumped when she felt a presence near her. She hadn’t realized the person had been that close, but that was also because her mind had been cluttered the last few weeks with things such as the past, the present, and her constant worry about the future. She couldn’t see the person but she could feel him. For some reason she felt the need to seek him out, but ignored the impulse, not wanting to start something that didn’t need to be started in the first place. She continued looking around, grabbing a few odds and ends (incense, candles, a few books that Willow might find interesting) and putting them in her cart. She noted a case full of jewelry and went over to browse what was in it…but stopped when something caught her eye. It was a claddagh ring, much like the one Angel had given her for her seventeenth birthday. She immediately turned away, not wanting to rehash all old memories once more.
She sighed and went over to look at the cards that they had posted around in a round spinning display on the other counter (away from the register) and began perusing them. She found one that reminded her of Willow and was attempting to read the rest of it when she heard Buffy Summers being called from the front of the store. She put the card back, realizing it really didn’t remind her of Willow as much as she thought and headed towards the register, smiling as the woman had her bags full of whatever it was that she had ordered. I also added a few other key ingredients that you may need from time to time just in case. Let me know if there’s anything else you need. The woman stated and the slayer smiled when she handed the owner her other purchases. She waited as they were rung up, and simply stared at the many bags she had. It was a good thing she had money…or else this whole magic thing would be a definite problem not that Giles no longer ran a magic shop.

Nope... he was not alone. Not at all alone. Mrs. Barker was not that deaf, so clearly it was not her. She would have answered him. Aj was always welcomed here.... well he was always welcomed to stay outside the door, his items would be given to him....again outside the store. Just because he broke a few priceless artifacts did not mean he was not sorry. Dang. He tried to fix them too with no luck. People were just so touchy with that kind of stuff. What you would want with a stupid random creepy shrunken head, AJ would never know, but apparently it was costly. Eh Mrs. Barker still loved him, it was true. No one could hate AJ, at least not once you get to know him.... if you stick around that long.
AJ took a few calculated step's being sure to step lightly so as not to be herd. AJ was pretty good at this game. This cat and mouse. The only problem was who was the mouse? He'd say the other person here was, but he was pretty sure the other person would try and claim the cat. But that was not very important, AJ was just an isle behind, peeking through a small whole in the book shelf. Ahhh so it was a little blondie now was it? He could deal with a little blond girl. She was probably just buying some love spell or something stupid like that. Well at least it was no Vampire slayer or anything crazy like that. It was just a little girl. Though her body shape was slightly familiar he knew better then to try and figure out whom it belonged to. He has meet a lot of people over the many years he's been alive. So if someone looked familiar that was why. Maybe it was a great great great granddaughter of one of his old friends or something. He just left it at that. Or so he wanted to.
Out from the back storage room, he herd foot steps and a Buffy Summers being called. Buffy Summers.... Strange. He knew a Buffy Summers who had blond hair. Though last time he saw her she was what? 13? or something crazy like that. It's not like she could have grown up that fast... it's only been a........ AJ just stopped. It's been a long while since he's seen Buffy Summers... It's been a very long time. God he missed her, at least he now knew she was alive and well.... Well maybe not well.... 'well' people did not come into places like this, well at least not 'well' humans. Man he wanted to go up and say hello. He wanted to hug her and steal he away again like he used to do. But it's been a while and he still looks just as young as he did 100 years ago. Nothing has changed, she was bound to know. Look at her! She was.... well a women now... at least her figure was that of a women, a very fit women, but a women none the less. She was no longer the girl he once knew. Man that was depressing.
Then again why should he go over and see her? Buffy never said goodbye to him.. ever. She and her mother just up and left. Joice left him a nice little message on his phone telling him what Buffy had done and that they had to move. That was the last he herd from the Summer's family. So why should he go hug her. Not like she really wanted to... Okay that is a stupid though. Of course she would want to see AJ... its AJ! Everyone loves him. Anyway Buffy was totally out of it before she moved, she must have had some kind of mental break down. Maybe she just needed some counseling and she'd be good. Looks like she was doing well so far.... physically at least.
AJ got closer and closer, still sticking to behind a shelf or something. He was not sure he wanted to be seen. He was not sure it was a good idea. Maybe seeing AJ so young still would make her have another mental break down, like she might think he a ghost or something. Maybe he should stay away..... But wait.... what was she doing here anyway? Who the fuck comes to Mystic Falls? it's a small little stupid town. What would make her want to come here? Well... the same reason Chase's family moved here... whatever that was? AJ was still trying to figure that one out.
Mrs. Barker glanced up and saw AJ. Man she was always so good at that. AJ winked at her quickly and placed a finger over his lips. He did not want her to give his position away. Mrs. Barker seemed to understand and went back to checking Buffy out. Yeah... it was for sure Buffy, he knew that stance. He knew that profile. He knew her. Making his way quietly from behind the shelf, he pretty much ninjad his way over to Buffy, so he was directly behind her, and not wasting any time, his arms flung around her, holding her arms to her side, his arms over her chest. The only ring he had on his finger shined bright in the sun, it was shinning a little brighter then expected, but that, he figured, was because of the magic it held. "Buffy freaking Summers!" AJ said a little louder then necessary, with a small smile hugging her from behind. Man if he were a normal human he might have regretted doing this, but Buffy had never been able to hurt him before... shoot no human had really hurt him before...physically at least. Typical AJ move.... total douche like greeting. Why he can't walk up to her like any normal human.... well he was not human. But still.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She continued to stare at the bags in front of her piling up. She didn’t realize how much stuff they had needed magic wise when she had ordered it earlier. Then a sound from her phone brought her attention away from the bags. She pulled it out and saw a text message from Giles. I called Julie a few days ago and ordered a few more things for you and Willow. There are some basics that I thought would be good to have on hand just in case. Plus the ingredients for the mind reversal spell in case the potential doesn’t want to be a slayer. Forgot to tell you, sorry. It was a lesson to teach Giles how to text message, but she was glad that he now knew how. It was much easier than trying to constantly work out time zones and such. This just made life ten times easier in all types of different ways. It also helped that they could talk privately even though neither one had a whole lot of privacy in their day to day lives.
She put her phone back into her pocket and turned her attention back to Julie as she started ringing up her items that she had actually ordered. She noted that there were three orbs. She knew that it may seem like a bit overkill, but after living through Angelus once, she was in no hurry to repeat that current time in her life…so she’d rather be overdoing it a bit than misjudge and not have enough of something that she needed. She was glad that Willow had thought ahead of time and had made sure to bring the book with the spell in it to restore Angel’s soul. They had almost forgotten it since the incantation is on their laptops, but luckily at the last minute Willow remembered to grab it.
Her heart almost stopped as she felt someone wrap their arms around her and scream her name. She immediately went on the defense and flung the person over her shoulder, landing them on the floor. Her eyes widened in surprise when she realized who it was…someone she hadn’t seen in forever. “HOLY SHIT AJ?!” She cried, immediately regretting having flipped him over. She groaned and grabbed his hand, pulling him up. “Sorry! You scared the shit out of me!” She laughed before lunging at him, giving him an extremely strong hug, and noting that it didn’t seem to bother him. She pulled away after a moment and took a good look at him. He aged well…and that was an understatement. He hadn’t actually aged and that concerned her. “God I’ve missed you.” She smiled at him, and hugged him, noting that he had no heartbeat. She wouldn’t start anything here, but she would definitely be discussing this particular thing. “So what are you doing here?” She asked, seriously wondering what he was doing in Mystic Falls Virginia…during the day…though she wasn’t going to ask that particular question.

His arms were around Buffy, and then he was on the floor. He barley had time to think, let alone process what the hell was going on until it was too late. Well dang. "Shit Buffy!" AJ said trying to hide his pain, which he did pretty well. But shit he'd have to stretch the shit out of his back later if he wanted to be able to move again. "What did you do that for? And where the hell did you learn how to do that... Shit!" He said unmoving looking up at her. At least he did not break anything. At least he was flipped onto the floor not a table. Shoot. If he would have broken something he'd never be aloud back in this store ever. Mrs. Barker would deliver the crap to Chases house rather then take the chance that Chase would send AJ. Which might not be a bad idea.... but then again he really did not want to fuck up. Chase kind of needed this place if he was going to do the whole magic thing. Also Lilly-Anne would need it when she got older. Even know her magic was strong, she needed to know how to control it. So it was good that this place was here. Chase could teach Lilly-Anne what she needed to know so she would be safe. Also so Lilly-Anne knew what to do and what not to do.... Hopefully to train Lilly-Anne to be a 'good' witch.
A hand was lowered down, and AJ took it willing. He felt a small tug, and up on his feet he went. Man she was a lot stronger then he thought. Shoot she was a lot stronger then she should be!! What the hell. No really what the hell!!Looks like this girl has been drinking her milk... Shit, super milk! Maybe he was just weak? It's been a while since he's got himself some blood. So maybe that's why she seemed so strong.. but then again no little girl could flip someone as large as AJ with out hurting herself. Well unless she was Buffy...apparently.
"Granted... that was kind of the point... but to flip someone over like that... Rude! I'm pretty sure your mother taught you better then that young.... not so young lady!" AJ mocked, it was all in good fun like always. But he of course was still older and he had to make his fake authority known. Not that he cared about that crap, but still he 'had to be the adult' or Buffy's mother would never have let him 'baby'sit her. Not that she ever needed a babysitter. She was soon in his arm's just like old times. He did not even notice her hugging him as hard as she did. He was still feeling the tingle from hitting the floor, anyway he heals fast. So it was whatever. AJ returned the hug but it was much softer, clearly he did not want to hurt her. But this was a normal AJ hug. He'd never test his strength on a human. If he really wanted to know how strong he was, he'd hug a tree or something that did not have feelings.
"Your the one that left me you little Pyro!" Aj commented letting her look him over. Man that was worrisome. But he'd keep it hidden. He'd just act like nothing was wrong, and well maybe she'd look the other way. Buffy was like that sometimes. Well okay she was never like that, but AJ could hope for a change right? "What am I doing here?" He asked her a small brow raised. "What are YOU doing here Missy?" He asked, shaking his head slightly. "I live in this here little small town thing... " He said, attempting an accent but failing. "Dang I need to watch some more westerns!" He mumbled under his breath, he really did, clearly he just failed at whatever it was he was trying to do. "But what are you doing here? Last time I saw you.... You were still in High School...." He added, picking up a strand of her long blond hair. "I see you've grown up now..." He added letting it fall lightly. He missed playing with her hair. She always had pretty hair. He wanted it. Meh but he figured everyone wants what they cant have.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She knew what he was. She could feel it. She had felt it earlier, but had ignored it because of the daylight. However she couldn’t ignore what was right in front of her. She would have confronted him about it if there hadn’t been a human in the general vicinity. She couldn’t remember if his skin had been cold when she had met him or if she had ever seen him out in the sun, but she didn’t think she had now that it was mentioned. AJ was the type of person that everyone liked but he still had that mysterious air about him. She took him in again, this time making sure to concentrate. She was computer correct…he hadn’t aged or changed a bit since the last time she saw him, which was at least 7 ½ years ago. It was strange seeing him again…she never had really thought that anything was off about him when she knew him from before. Granted, she wasn’t the slayer then and by the time she moved she had already started drifting away from him. It had happened with everyone after she was called. She pulled away from everyone only because she didn’t have the time to be anything but the slayer. Her life was on the line and at that moment she was determined to live. She was naive when she was first called…she really thought if she slayed enough vampires and demons that she would eventually be able to ‘retire’ from slaying. It was a naive hope…one she had learned long ago would never happen.
She winced when she saw the pain in AJ’s eyes. She could tell she had hurt him, and that he was surprised that she did. She looked over at Julie and noticed that she was trying to hide a smile. Julie knew what she was, someone, though she wasn’t sure if Giles had told her or someone else had. The secret identity thing was sort of pointless anymore since she was no longer trying to actively hide it from anyone. If someone knew about supernatural things (demons, vampires) then she would be open about what she was. It was easier this way than to try and hide it. She hated lying and hiding things from those she cared about so she just was upfront about it. Giles wasn’t exactly thrilled with it since he wanted her to keep her identity a secret but eh, what could you do.
She heard AJ comment about what her mother taught her and she knew the emotion on her face showed her sadness, though she tried to cover it up. “Sorry again. Yeah, mom is probably rolling over in her grave right now thinking about me flipping someone over in a store.” She stated, throwing an apologetic look at Julie. She received a smile back and luckily nothing had been broken so she figured she was forgiven. “I tend to get jumpy around new places so hence me throwing you over. I just moved here literally about 4 days ago, hence me being jumpy.” She told him.
She cracked up when he called her a pyro…if he only knew. Well, she figured no time like the present to tell him. “I’ve done worse than burn down the gym, so yeah; I guess you could call me a pyro.” She told him winking. “Trust me when I say I didn’t want to move…I hated leaving without saying goodbye. Unfortunately the divorce proceedings went quick and my mom got a new job and BAM, we were gone. I actually only moved two hours away though if it makes you feel any better.” She told him, laughing. She heard Julie call her name and she went up there, giving her the credit card that Giles had set up that withdrew from the council’s main fund. She signed her name and grabbed the bags. “Thanks Julie.” She told her and received a ‘you’re welcome’ back. “AJ, want to take a walk with me?” She asked, hoping he would. She needed to know what the hell was going on and soon before she exploded. She didn’t like being left in the dark and needed to know whether her old friend was still her old friend or if she needed to be worried.

Next thing AJ knew he was flat on the floor, with quite the pain in his back. Well shit, what the fuck just happened? He blinked a few times going over what he apparently just missed. He had called Buff's name and hugged her, now he was on the floor. The time in-between was a blur of colors, and he had a large pain in his back. She flipped him... she had to have flipped him. There was no other way he could have been on the floor like this. She fucking flipped him. WHAT THE FUCK?! Little preppy prom queen flipped him... AJ... flipped... on the floor, his back in a dull pain now withering back to normal. AJ held a blank expression. He figured once he left no one was there to protect her so she started taking some classes or something.... Or something was what he kept thinking. He could not remember the last time he had been flipped like that. It's been more then a while. Usually he knows when it's coming, he can feel it, feel the movement in the person, but not with Buffy. One minute he was on his feet the next on his back. She moved quick, too quick. Her reflexes must have gotten stronger since the last time he saw here.... Which was like 10 years ago at least. She was just a girl then, now she was a women. So clearly she has aged... naturally her strength would grow as well.
But still OUCH! Being tossed on your back like that hurt. Granted AJ was over the pain by now but the shock still stood. Dang. He was just trying to say hello, and all he get's is a nice trip to the floor. RUDE! "The one and only!" AJ said taking her hand and helping himself stand back on his two feet. "Remind me never to hug you again!" AJ said stretching out his back a little, it was a mere act. The pain was pretty much gone, but still DANG! The girl got some upper arm strength. But of course before he could truly stretch himself out, he was being hugged, and an extremely strong hug at that. And a burning painful hug. What the fuck was with the burning sensation? But he brushed it off. He figured he was just being a baby. She was just hugging him after he got thrown down, so his back must have been sore. Stupid sensitive back. And when she pulled away a nice shinny black cross hung around her neck, well there's the burning. Shoot when did Buffy find faith? She never used to wear that shit. Man he'd have to be more careful around her. With the whole cross thing.
"Yeah it's been forever Buffy." AJ commented with a half shrug. "I moved here because of my job." Aj said though this was not that true. He had moved here because of Chase and Lilly-Anne. But AJ was not about to try and explain that relationship. Clearly Chase was straight, so AJ could not say partner, yeah they were friends but... Lilly-Anne made things a little more complicated. AJ and Chase were both Lilly-Annes fathers, but Chase and AJ were strictly friends on account of Chase being straight and all. So what to call him? Eh who knew, best to keep that out for now. He'd go into the whole story late... but first he wanted to catch up.
"What are you doing in this tinny town? Last I herd you set a school on fire?" AJ said raising an eye brow slowly. "But that was what? 10 years ago? Maybe more?" AJ said waiting for an answer... or at least apologize for running out like that. Some kind of closure. Even know AJ has moved on and his hard feelings gone, he still wanted something from her. He did not need to know why she left with out a goodbye, but he would have liked to know. "I figure your out of your rebellion stage?" he added as a small joke. Something had gone on with Buffy back then, and AJ wished to know what it was. He really just wanted to know if it was something he did.. or if it was just Buffy being a teenager. These answers he would get, it was just a matter of time before he got them.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She stared at her old friend, confused at the way that he hadn’t aged. Okay, that was a lie. She knew why he hadn’t aged…he was a vampire. She could sense that about him and she could sense power on his ring finger, where a ring rested. It almost reminded her of the power that the Gem of Amara gave out but it wasn’t as strong. She wondered if the ring was something similar, and vowed to herself to figure out what it was. She noted briefly that AJ was standing in the day light and her eyes widened and she immediately thought of things she tried to stay clear of.
“Your job?” She asked, curious as to what his job was. “What kind of job do you have?” She asked, not letting on to the fact that she knew he was a vampire. She didn’t have any idea if he knew about the past seven years of her life in Sunnydale or if he knew about anything that had happened. She would have to assume he didn’t since he was this close to her and normally vampires who didn’t want to kill her stayed extremely far away from her for fear of their lives. “I’m here because of my job as well actually.” She stated, which was the complete truth. “I’m a recruiter of sorts. Me, along with my sister and my best friend are here to help recruit for our work.” She stated, hoping that he wouldn’t ask too many questions. Her mind raced as she realized what she had said. She had no idea if AJ had memories of Dawn. She knew that Angel did but that was because he had been involved in her life during Sunnydale…but AJ hadn’t…so she had no idea if she gave herself away or not.
“Yeah, I set Hemery’s gym on fire right before I left…that was the reason I was expelled.” She told him, knowing she would have to answer a lot of questions. She had no idea if AJ had been a part of the feeding frenzy that went down there but had a feeling that he wasn’t. She hadn’t seen him that night and neither had Pike when she asked him if there had been anyone he recognized. “I think it was about 8 ½ years ago actually. I was in Sunnydale for about 7 years, which is where I moved to right after I left Los Angeles…and I’ve been in Rome for about 9 months and been here for about a week so probably between 8 and 8 ½ years since we’ve seen each other.” She told him, laughing at how he thought it had been longer than 10 years since they had seen each other. “I can’t really say I’m out of my rebellion stage, but I do play by the rules a lot more now than I did back then.” She told him with a grin.
Once she had her bags in her hand she walked outside, hoping AJ was following her. Once outside she deposited her items into her car before heading towards an alley that was secluded from the road. Once there she turned to AJ, her arms crossed over her chest in a relaxed but defensive posture. “So how long have you been a vampire for?” She asked him bluntly, wondering what he would say.

"Yes I have a job." AJ said rolling his eyes a little. What was so amazing about AJ having a job? He used to work for Buffy's mother when he was 'younger'. So yes a job he had, and a job he rather enjoyed... greatly enjoyed really. Was it really that shocking that he could hold a job? He had been Buffy's tutor quite a while ago.... so why was it surprising that he held a job? He'd have to teach Buffy about being more polite. "I'm actually a nurse. I went to school and everything." AJ said with a bigger smile. Yep he went to school and is doing very well for himself.
"Ohhh....Little Miss. Buffy all grown up and with a job?" Shocker! AJ said in mock surprise. He figured she'd have to get a job at some point. "What is it that you do little Missy?" AJ asked forgetting all about why he came to the magic shop in the first place. But he was too busy thinking of what Buffy cold possibly be recruiting for. "What are you in the army now? That would explain the whole flip back there... which I'm still feeling the effects of by the way." He said with a bit of a laugh, assuming that's what she would do. She used to be so pink and girly, so it was weird seeing her in pants. But everyone grew up... how she grew up to be... such a.... well... so toned, he'd never know....Wait....wait just a second... sister? "Sister? when the hell did you get a sister?" AJ asked thoroughly confused. "Did your mother and father get back together? Or do you have a step father you never told me about? I hope he's not the evil kind of step father.. that would really suck too. Is he at least kind of cute?" Aj went on and on about this guy that really does not exist. Okay yeah that happens a lot. AJ gets on to this tangent like thing, kind of deal. He assumes things and just makes up stories and crap to go along with it....at least until he's set right or something like that. But dang a sister? Why the hell was he not invited to her birth or anything like that. Not that he would have came.. but DANG!.
But wait.... AJ has only been gone what? a hand full of years. He though it had been 10 year's but clearly hewas mistaken.... It has been 7 and a half years maybe 8 and a half. So her and her sister are working together? Why would she put her little sister to work. Her sister could not be older then seven, eight at most. AJ would have seen Joice's pregnant belly before he left. So she had to have gotten pregnant after AJ said goodbye to the Summer's family. So the kid really could not be older then 7. Six is more like it. "Your working with you kid sister.... Do you think she should be working so young?" AJ asked not feeling right about all this. Something was not right, someone was not being very truthful. Man he's so confused. Burning down a gym getting a little sister and moving.. still something was not right. He started to think that maybe, just maybe Buffy was the one who got pregnant. Maybe it was her kiddo. But still.. Joice would have told him. Oh man AJ is so lost.
"Oh Buffy... I really don't know what's going on with you Missy..." AJ said shaking his head a bit. She is for sure a different person now then she has ever been. He was not to sure he wanted to know. This was getting much too weird even for AJ. As much as he loved Buffy, she was clearly not the same little girl... and it freaked him out a bit. AJ would need to do some major thinking to figure her out again. AJ kept close to Buffy as she walked outside to put her items in her car. He'd come back for his crap later.
AJ turned to say goodbye to Buffy thinking she was going to get into her car and drive away.... But she turned to go down an ally. Man!! this girl was just asking for trouble. "Ugh Buffy...." Aj said going after her. "You really should not go down there!" AJ said rushing after her, though he stopped short of her. Oh... he was in trouble. He knew that look... that was a very mommy like look. One he saw her mother wear years ago. What did he do now? When the words came out of her mouth, his mouth almost fell open before his brow wrinkled into a skeptical look.
"Vampire?" Aj said laughing a little... HOW THE FUCK DID SHE KNOW?! He screamed at himself, still keeping his cool. He'd never had to say anything about this before... HOW DID SHE KNOW?!?! WHAT THE HELL!!!! "Buffy... have you gotten into your mother medication again?" He asked shaking his head a little, taking a step or two towards her. "Why don't I just take you home ay?" He asked acting like she was crazy... though he knew she was not crazy.... then again she did burn down a gym and she did get all crazy like... Even know she was right about him, he could not let her of all people know. Sooo yeah he'd just act like she was crazy. Yeah that's good... that's a pretty good plan. Shoot she was messing with magic too...she must be kind of nuts. The magic might be getting to her. Of man she is really messed up! poor Joyce. Once he left, things went down hill for that little family.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She realized how rude she sounded and immediately apologized. “Sorry, didn’t mean for it to sound that way.” She stated but didn’t allow anymore on that subject. She wasn’t sure why she was shocked that he had another job, obviously he had to take care of himself. She guessed she was just used to him working with her mother, which obviously wasn’t the case anymore for several reasons. The reasons being that A.) They moved away from Los Angeles to Sunnydale meaning that he hadn’t seen either one of them in many years…and B.) Her mother was no longer alive…making it hard for them to work together.
“A nurse?” She asked with a smile on her face. “I always thought that I’d like being a nurse…but then I realized that nurses, just like doctors, had all these crazy shifts and I realized I couldn’t do it. I am needed way too often to be able to pull 24-36 hour shifts…hence me not becoming a nurse. But that’s awesome that you went to school for nursing…bet all the ladies and the fellas love you.” She told him, winking. She knew AJ’s sexual orientation, and she used to tease him about it constantly. They would check out guys together and have a grand old time doing it as well. She also knew that while AJ was technically gay, he would check out and make out with anyone he deemed pretty, which was another thing that she adored about him because he always made sure to tell the pretty people that they were pretty…and he had no qualms about telling the ugly people that they were indeed ugly.
She laughed at his mock surprise when he asked about her job. “Yeah, I technically have about 3 jobs, though only one pays.” She told him, laughing again. “No, I’m not in the army. Do you really think after knowing me for as long as you have, even if you haven’t seen me in a while, that I would tolerate some drill sergeant screaming in my face? Yeah, the army couldn’t handle me and I think I’d probably have been booted out a long time ago…probably my first or second day there.” She told him before continuing on.
“I’m a counselor actually, a high school counselor. I moved here from Rome where I was a counselor at a boarding school.” She stated, though it wasn’t exactly the full truth, it was close enough without giving away her secret identity….something she was terrible about doing and had a bad habit of doing it. “However before Rome I was also a high school counselor at Sunnydale High School which is where I graduated from.” She told him, smiling in pride. She had always been proud of the fact that even though she hadn’t been able to graduate from college, she still found something she was good at and something she loved. It also helped that it made her money, though now it wasn’t needed since the Watcher’s Council and the Slayer School paid her well.
She groaned when she realized she had given away Dawn’s part in this. “I’ll explain my sister later.” She told him before shaking her head. “However I will answer no, my parents didn’t get back together. I haven’t spoken to my father except for a handful of times since I left LA and have only seen him twice. I don’t even know if he’s alive at this current time since I haven’t spoken to him since before my mom…” She trailed off before shaking her head. “No I don’t have a stepfather…though my mentor, Rupert Giles, might as well be my father by the way that he treats me like his daughter and I tend to annoy him like a daughter would.” She stated with a laugh, knowing that if Giles heard her he’d roll his eyes at her and probably clean his glasses in exasperation.
She rolled her eyes at AJ as he tried to get around the vampire issue. “No, I’m not insane and you know it. Come on AJ, obviously you’re not that evil of a vampire since you haven’t tried to kill me yet, which is definitely something I’m not used to since usually vampires have me pegged in a millisecond…Anyway, not the point. Where you a vampire when we met and I was just dense or have you been turned since we parted ways? I trust you so hence the reason my stake’s still in my jacket sleeve and not out but if you don’t start talking I’m going to start getting suspicious, so I suggest you answer my question before I lose what patience I have...which means I should let you know that my patience hasn’t grown any over the years…meaning that I don’t have a whole lot of patience…so start talking buddy.”

"Yeah it's not for everyone, and honestly Nurses don't have to pull off the 24 hour shifts. That's really only left for the doctors. But that's a different point. " Aj said with a bit of a shrug not too sure where she was going with this, or where he wanted it to go. It was still kind of creepy seeing her here and all. Not that he was not glad, but things were... different? He could feel it if anything. Things were weird. As much as he wanted to say things were cool and normal, they both pretty much knew something was up. But what was it? And this small talk... as much as he liked it, needed to well end. And he'd have to end it. "Yeah the ladies like the body... No really.... they like to look, and some try to touch, but you know me." Aj said trying to end it as is. Yep she knows him pretty well. It was pretty sad, but they did have some grand old time back in their day. It was greatly missed, but of course nothing could be done he'd have to fake his death. He was not going to drag her into this world...then again judging by what she was buying, she already seemed to know a little about the dark arts...
"Well of course no, but I figured you'd deal with it for a time until you could become that drill Sargent and drill some little low life nothing into the ground just so you can help rebuild that person. Make her all that she can be bull shit." He said with a bit of a smile, still waiting for the conversation to turn well.... bad. It was going to happen you can only keep this small talk up for so long before the truth comes out... and with the whole three jobs one of which pays...that might be a clue. A clue to what? He is not sure, but he'll find out. " I did not know you got a counselor degree..errgggg at least you found something you love.....?" AJ said realizing it sounded pretty dumb, but he hoped it might be dropped at his question. Which is where he moved on trying to save himself with the finding one thing she loved crap. He sort of hopped she'd just look at him like she used to then they would move on...
"Sister.... right.... later... sure..." AJ said, giving her a look. One of those looks that he gives her when he can smell the Bull Shit. Sister bull shit right there. What sister and why was she... okay he was not going to think about that at the moment. He'd drill her about it later, if he got the chance, seeing as he did not know what she was dipping into with this whole magic thing. That was one thing that really concerned him. She was dealing with some forces that she might not be able to handle. As strong as Buffy has always been, he still does not think she is ready to deal with such demonic things. Then again she has come a long way since her cheerleader days. Which was good... but still it did not settle him on the magic. Aj just shook his head at that comment. Some mentor now. Man she really has moved passed her preppy middle school days. That was pretty sad. But it was a natural step. He used to get board of this whole dark black shadow crap, so he tried being all bright and preppy for like an hour. It really did not work. Buffy just figured that out a little slower then he had... and well not like she took it as far as he did, but she looked good as of now. She was doing well... But still what was she doing with magic.
And here it was the main event. Vampire. "Buffy..." He tried interrupting her but of course she'd have nothing of it. "Buff..." He tried once more but still nothing. So he had to let her finish. "Buffy. Fine I'm a Vampire and I've always been, always will be." He said in one huff. Hopefully that would get her to shut up for a few moments. "I'm not going to hurt you. God knows hoe many time's I've slept in your own home, and no one was hurt. Proof enough for you. But Buffy..." He began his hands held out slightly moving closer to her a little. Though he made it clear he was not going to hurt her or anyone. Clearly he could never hurt Buffy of all people. "What are you doing playing with magic. Buffy that stuff can kill you, take you over. You really should not be fucking with such powerful forces. Even the little spells can turn deadly!" AJ began to lecture, he would only bitch more and more until he was stopped. "Some of the stuff you were getting are not used for any cutie spells... that's some serious crap you got in your car Buffy.... It's crazy shit, you can really hurt someone." He continued thinking she was nothing more then a witch who was dipping into the demon world, his world. That was not okay. Buffy was just a little lost he figured....and the more he talked the more pissed off at himself he was. He should have seen the magic in her. He should have seen something in her, not that magic was in her family but still! He should have caught something. He should have told her about magic and how dangerous it was. AJ just though by keeping it a secret she'd never find out about it. How wrong he was!!
((Wow... I must be distracted or something cuz this post kind of sucks...really bad...))

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She shrugged at the knowledge that nurses didn’t have to pull 24 hour shifts. She knew that a lot of nurses didn’t…but in some cases they did. Unfortunately that was a large part of the reason she didn’t go to nursing school. She could handle pretty much anything. Blood, guts, tears, death…it was all part of her job as a slayer…the job…her destiny…her calling…the motions that she went through every day. She could handle everything except the hours. She knew that even if nurses didn’t work 24 hour shifts they a lot of times had to work rotating shifts…and unfortunately with her calling as the slayer…she had to have something where her nights were free. It was one of the main reasons that the job as a school counselor was perfect. It gave her time to go home and get stuff done or sleep before she went out patrolling. It wasn’t the most concussive way to having an actual life…but it worked.
She smirked at the thought of her being in the army. She couldn’t even imagine herself doing anything like that. She thought back to a place in her life where she could see herself in some sort of roll where she had to follow instructions. It was clear to her within seconds that there was no time at all that she would handle being in the army, for various reasons of course. When she was in high school, before she was called as the slayer, when she was still at Heremy High School in Los Angeles…she was the classic prom queen cheerleader. She gave orders even then, letting people know that she was in charge. She ran for queen, and won. She ran for cheerleading captain and won. She also was way too prissy back then to handle any sort of physical exertion.
Now it was different. She didn’t take orders from anyone, she gave them. She was pretty much the drill sergeant of the slayer school, though she was a whole lot nicer about it. She knew that it was her job, her duty, to train the girls in order to not only help save the world, to try and make sure that they all stayed alive as long as possible. She knew the risks of being a slayer…she knew it better than anyone. Hell she had died twice, and almost died countless other times. She knew the price that a slayer paid for saving the world…which wasn’t fair since she gave her life and got nothing in return…but that was what life was about sometimes. It wasn’t always easy, and it wasn’t always fair, but it was the truth.
With that being said, she knew she couldn’t ever handle a roll where she was told what to do. She was too independent to take orders from someone else. It was another reason why a high school counselor was the perfect job for her. She didn’t need it of course, being that Giles had a heart and knew that money was a problem when it came to being a slayer so she was paid extremely well for doing what she did…she also received money from the government seeing as her school did double as an actual boarding school for the girls that were training there as well. It worked out well for her as she was doing something she was good at, and she could try and make a difference in another way. She knew she had saved the world countless times, but it made her feel extremely proud to make a difference in a way that at least someone would know about it.
“I didn’t actually get my degree.” She told him, embarrassment clear on her face. It had always been a sore spot with her. She had always wanted to graduate college, even though at the time she didn’t know what she wanted to do. Unfortunately taking care of her mom, Dawn, and then her death sort of hindered that plan. She had actually started looking at online programs to try and get her degree, if only for her own personal satisfaction. She reminded herself to look closer at it before turning her attention back to AJ. “Personal stuff came up so I had to leave school. Then I moved to Rome and am still trying to work in transcripts and everything there and then I moved here for the time being so it’s a bit jumbled at the moment. I actually got into counseling because the principle saw how I was with a few of the kids who had a problem and I helped them. He gave me the job on merit…I was lucky.” She told him.
She nodded her head, understanding what he meant. He had been a vampire when she knew him so she immediately relaxed. He was right, he had slept in her house, hell in her bed, many many times before…so she knew she could trust him. “AJ, I know all about magic. My best friend almost killed herself and a lot of other people because at one time she was addicted to magic. Trust me, I know the risks.” She told him, walking over to him and putting her hand on his shoulder, giving it a squeeze before staring at him, letting him know that she was serious. She knew the risks, and sometimes unfortunately the risks were necessary.
“Listen, there’s something you need to know. The reason that I left LA…was because I set the gym on fire which you know. What you don’t know is the reason I set the gym on fire. It was full of vampires. They were snacking on the prom…and there was no way I could take them all out so I got all the students out and I torched the place. It’s my job AJ…my calling. I’m the vampire slayer. I’m not as conventional as some others since I actually care about certain vampires and I trust certain demons…so I won’t kill everyone. I won’t hurt you…and I promise I’ll stay away from you if you want me too as long as I don’t find you feeding on an innocent person…but I just thought you should know the truth.”

"Ahh...yeahh right degree..." Aj said noting that she did catch onto his little mistake. Councilors did not have to have any degrees, AJ knew this. He's only been to nursing school how many times now? But still dang she caught on to it. He though he was being slick. But she did not call him out.. rather looked like she had a sour spot. "I'm sure your get a degree. If I know you Buffy, and I'm pretty sure I know you dang well.... then I have no doubt in my mind that you will get that degree if it's the last thing you do." He said trying to make her feel better, though he had no idea that she sort of already died... twice... at least. Maybe more but god who's counting? AJ might be if he had known. Buffy the cheater of death... TWICE... no he would not joke about... okay okay he so would joke about that. But that's what made him AJ.
AJ did not believe her really. Did she really know the Magic? He was unsure. AJ spoke up again cutting her off before she could start talking about what really went down in the gym. "No really Buffy, bad thing's can happen" He continued on but of course knowing Buffy he was going to shut the hell up and listen, and that's just what she made him do. Clearly he was not allow to intrude her...ever. So AJ like the good little boy he was shut his mouth about the dangers of magic... at least for now. Aj smiled. "That's my girl... acting all big like the slayer and all... So cute." AJ said ruffling her hair a little like he used to do back in the day. He could only picture it. Her trying to save the world... it was something she'd do... very Buffy. Though why she did not go to him for help or anything he had no idea. But DANG.... "You know you should have told me I would have kicked some ass..." He said nodding his head a little. He did not really catch the whole I am the slayer part. He just figured she was using the words he was using. He was slow like that. Thinking what he wanted, hearing what he wanted that was one dang problem with AJ. You really had to make AJ look you in the eye, capture his full attention then tell him. That's they only real way to get him to listen.
"Your little mind is a wonders sometimes Buffy!" He said really missing the whole part. Yeah it was cute. She though she was the slayer. Even if she threw him around a little he would caulk it up to drinking her milk or some bull shit like that. "Your not the first little slayer I've made friends with!" He said with a bit of a smile. Where as that was not true, he's never really meet a slaver before, but he has made friends witch a few potential slayers. Take Lilly-Anne for example, only they really don't know it yet. But he had potential friends never slayer friends. "Yeahhh...." AJ said clearly picturing something, making things work for him in his mind. Basically making a memory. Yeah he was changing this moment to god knows what so when he looked back on it, things went more his way. Typical AJ spoiled as ever.
((Bahahahah will do just remind me! And I had to make AJ interrupt her a few times....It's late so I don't want to call you and ask.. soo I'm assuming its alright seeing as it always is.. and you know I'll change it i its not..... and it's kinda short, you know what I mean. ))

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -She had forgotten how childlike AJ could be sometimes. He tended to interrupt at the most inopportune times and it got annoying sometimes. She loved the boy to pieces, he was like a big brother, a best friend, and sometimes a boyfriend (when she needed a date and didn’t want to go alone) all wrapped up in one…which was weird but it worked in some odd and strange way. She remembered the two of them bickering when they were in Los Angeles because he interrupted her all the time. She could still remember the look on her mom’s face when she caught them nose to nose one time (which was funny since AJ was several inches taller than her) screaming at each other for being a moron. It was funny now that she thought about it, but back then she had gotten mad at her mom for not sticking up for her or being on her side. She remembered her mom’s laugh when she stated that it wouldn’t be appropriate to choose between her daughter and her son, to which AJ went over and laid a huge wet kiss on her mom’s cheek. It was a priceless afternoon that day was.
It was clear by the way AJ mocked her a bit and gave her that indulgent look he used to give her that he didn’t believe her about being the slayer. This was actually a first for her. Usually when she informed someone that she was the slayer (vampire wise) they would say one of two things. ‘Oh god please don’t kill me’ or ‘I’ll be the last face you ever see’ or something along those lines. Never had she had someone question her…unless they had met up with Faith (which isn’t usual since neither of them usually let vampires or demons escape).
“Seriously AJ, I’m the slayer. Was called when I was 15 on the steps of Hemery. That night I called you crying saying that my parents were screaming at each other because I had stayed out with Tyler too long? Yeah, slayed my first vampire that night…and I’ll admit, I missed the heart the first time. Yeah, I was a bit of an air head back then…at least on certain matters.” She told him, her eyes shown with honestly and an age old sadness at the thought of how different her life could have been if she had never been called.
Before he could try and interrupt her again she grabbed his face and made him look her dead in the eye. “AJ, shut up and listen for five minutes. Okay, run down on my time as a slayer. I’ll be brief. If you want explanations feel free to ask me after I finish. Okay, was called when I was 15, set the school gym on fire, got expelled, mom and I moved to Sunnydale, which sat on top of a hellmouth, met my new watcher, stopped the Harvest, met Angel, met my best friends, died, killed the Master, killed the Judge, fought Spike and Drusilla, sent Angelus to hell, fought a rogue slayer and put her in a coma for 8 months, stopped an ascension by blowing up Sunnydale High School with the mayor turned snake demon inside, stopped Adam and the Initiative, found out I had a sister who was made by monks, stopped Glory, died again, was brought back 4 months later, stopped my best friend from ending the world, stopped the first by literally blowing up Sunnydale, now train potential slayers in Rome. Any questions or elaborations you need?” She asked with an innocent smile on her face.
