- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Plop.
Plop went the sound of John Winchester landing on his ass. Where? The middle of the street. In what town? No clue. What State? No clue. Hell, he wasn't even sure what country he was in. Only that he was in the middle of some street. Bright lights shone into his eyes and temporarily blinded him. His arms outstretched and attempted to shield the light from his orbs. The hands in front of him didn't even look like his own...They were pale. Weak. His veins protruded, but they didn't look healthy. He was fragile. He was...dying? Well - what kind of sick shit was happening here. Brought back only to die once again? Or, had he overstayed his time in Heaven? Had he simply been dropped back into hell? Was it a car coming at him, or some kind of demon?
It was a car. Yep - definitely a car.
The driver slammed on the breaks when he realized that John wasn't going to move. A young Asian man hopped out of the driver's seat like a bat out of hell, flying around to assist him. He was speaking, the young man was. John couldn't even tell what he was saying. Everything was getting dark...So dark. And before he knew it, he was gone. He'd slipped away again - except this time he didn't know where.
It was only three hours later that he woke up in a hospital bed. Adorning a robe only, his eyes opened and quickly closed when he realized the fluorescent lights right above his head were burning into his retinas. He groaned at the light before slowly this time reopening his eyes, allowing himself to adjust to the light. It was still bright - but he was at least able to see.
A hospital room. Next to him, a curtain was drawn but he could see the outline of someone in the bed next to him. He had a roommate. From the sounds of the cough, a roommate whom didn't have much time left.
He shut his eyes for a moment, trying to gather himself. He couldn't tell if all that he was seeing was real or not.
Eventually, a young redheaded nurse came in to check on him. It appeared to be real...but he still couldn't exactly tell. She informed him that he had in fact been found in the street. She also tells him that he's stable, and alive, but extremely weak. However - she then adds that he'll need to be in the hospital for a few weeks. He politely thanks her and waits for her to exit the room. As she does, he stands up.
Pulling all of the tubes, wires, and needles from his body, he weakly stumbles out of the room. It's late at night and he just barely makes it to the bottom floor. He hears a man behind him, asking him to stop, but he slips out of the hospital. Outside - he sees the sign.
He's at the same hospital where he'd died. It couldn't be real.
As he makes he weakly makes his way to the unit where he'd stored his truck all of those years ago, the redheaded nurse makes a call.
"Dean? Dean Winchester? Hi, my name is Samantha. I work at Mercy Hospital and your father was admitted early tonight. They found him in the street simply lying there, completely naked...We had him in treatment, trying to bring his vitals up, and he's disappeared. If you know where your father is, or if you see him, he needs medical attention. Please refer him to a physician as soon as possible. Have a good night, and take care."
It's four days later when John arrives in Richmond, Virginia. It's been a long time since he's traveled to Virginia - and he's here for a reason. After doing a bit of digging, he pulls up in his Sierra Grande to where he's been told his sons are staying. For a moment, he simply stays outside of the hotel, watching, waiting. His heart races.
Finally, he builds up the courage to exit his truck and knock on the door.

- - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - It was another fun filled day in the life of the Winchesters, well about as fun filled as it would get. Dean was sitting on his bed cleaning his gun and drinking a beer watching Dr. Sexy Md. The usual way for him to spend his nights nothing to big. But Dean didn’t care he had been working all night on a case and was tired, He would be seeing Ben and Lisa in the morning anyway for Breakfast.
Sam would have came on the case but he was busy off living the good life. Well as good as it get for him, he was off hitting the books something that Dean was so proud of him for. Well someone in this family had to be smart anyway and it wasn’t going to be Dean. Mom and dad would be so happy for Sam if they could see him now. Well they wouldn’t like the fact they were still hunting, but there dad would understand there reasons for doing so.
He sat there cleaning his gun watching his show, when he heard someone approach the door. It was Sam coming home from class, through the door with his book bag and all. “Well son did we have a nice day in school?.” he said kidding around being an ass as always. “No but for real what’s up man, did you learn something useful today? I learned a lot on that case I went on today, I could have really used your help. Ether way here is some of what I was able to uncover.” He set the folder down in front of him for him to read when he could, knowing he want to check it out. Dean was sure he would find something that he missed. Sam was good when it came to that, which was why they made such a good team.
Dean then noticed his phone blinking, it seemed he had missed a call from someone. “What the when did I get a voice mail, I swear man you are right this phone is a fucking piece of shit! He then begin to listen to see who the message was from, it seemed that it was from a hospital?
"Dean? Dean Winchester? Hi, my name is Samantha. I work at Mercy Hospital and your father was admitted early tonight. If you know where your father is, or if you see him, he needs medical attention. Please refer him to a physician as soon as possible. Have a good night, and take care."
Dean didn’t know what to say, it had to be a joke what else could it be. “Man I think you need to hear this.” He handed Sam the phone playing back the message for him to hear as well. “It has to be a joke right?” He asked him but all the sudden there was a knock on the door, which couldn’t have came at worse time. “Yeah some demon is fucking us.” He got up with the gun he had cleaned and slowly pulled back the door, and when he did he was a loss of worlds.
It was there dad standing right there before him. “Dad?” Dean asked speechless. “But no you are dead you cant be…. I saw you die, I watched you burn meaning there is no body. We sent your soul went to heaven, so….how… dad.” Dean didn’t know what to say anymore, all he knew was he couldn’t speak anymore sacred that the next thing to come would be tears.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - It had been a very long day for the youngest Winchester. He had been at school for what seemed like forever today but really it was no longer than any other day. It was just that he had two tests in two of his legal classes and while he loved to learn about law and to maybe one day get the chance to practice it, that did not mean that he wanted to take essay tests about different aspects of law. He didn’t know one student whether they were 18 or 80 that liked to take tests and today's tests had been killer.
He usually tried to study but unfortunately being that he hadn’t left the ‘hunting business’ as his brother had called it more than once he had been out really late dealing with a nest of vampires. He made a mental note to check on Annie when he got out of the shower. He didn’t know what it was about that kid but he felt drawn to her and fiercely protective over her. He knew she’d probably kick him in the shins if she knew that but oh well, what she didn’t know wouldn’t hurt her…or him he hoped.
Walking into the hotel room he still shared with his brother for the time being he rolled his eyes at Dean who was drinking a beer and watching Dr. Sexy M.D. "Really Dean? Do you not have anything better to do with your life than watch day time television?" He asked him with a chuckle as he sat down on his own bed and pulled his boots off, putting them to the side before removing his plaid shirt so that he was in nothing but jeans and a tshirt. The taller man didn’t bother responding with what he learned in school. It wasn’t like Dean would understand it anyway nor did he really want to explain it since hello, he just took a test on it. He really wanted to take a shower to wash away the grime from the day and he intended to do just that. Standing up he made his way towards the bathroom before walking back in to grab some boxers, pajama pants and a tshirt. He figured he and his brother were in for the night so he didn’t need to dress up for anyone. Especially since Sarah was patrolling with a couple of the other girls tonight or so she had told him.
He wasn’t sure what was going on with his girlfriend. They had spent the night together three weeks ago and for the first two weeks everything was fine. However about a week ago she had turned distant and had almost looked like she hadn’t been feeling well…though she swore she was okay. He didn’t know what could change within the past three weeks but he knew he would have to get to the bottom of it sooner or later.
Unfortunately apparently showering at the moment was not in the cards as the look on his older brother's face stopped him from going any further. He waited until he put the phone down before taking it from him. Listening to the message he felt anger well within him though not as much as Dean. He knew that their father was a sore spot with his brother and so he kept his own temper down. "More than likely. Though I will say it has to be a dumb demon since Dad's been gone for years." He stated before stopping when someone knocked on the door.
He stood behind his brother when he opened it and before Dean could finish his ramblings Sam was already to his messenger bag grabbing out the holy water. Yes, they had done this more than once so he knew the drill. "Doubtful." He stated with disdain before tossing the holy water in the face of the being impersonating his father. When he didn't burn or gag he shrugged at his brother. "Well, that's one option out." He stated before holding out a hand. "Silver knife. You've got one I don't have one on me." He stated matter of factly, trying to get his older brother to cooperate and not stand around looking at the being impersonating his father like he was at the moment.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -John stood there for several beats with the door shut before him. His chest felt like it might explode. It'd been years since he'd saw his boys from what he could tell. He'd spotted a newspaper when he'd stopped to get gas - he'd been gone for a long time. The world seemed...the same, but different, all at the same time. He had just been glad to know that his boys were alive. Even after all of this time - they'd made it. He was proud of them.
A hand twisted the knob from the other side and John sucked in a deep breath. His eyes were low, rising from the boots of the person that opened the door all the way up to the man's eyes. All the way up to his son's eyes. Just seeing Dean brought tears to his eyes, though they didn't fall. "Dean"
he said softly, a small crack forming in his throat. His son babbled about his death, to which John simply shook his head. He'd known in coming here that he'd have to make it past his sons' doubt before they'd believe him. He'd known they'd find it hard to believe, he'd known he'd had some convincing to do. For a moment though, he was silent again. There was movement in the hotel room from behind Dean. It was Sam. While he wanted to hug the boys, holy water was splashed in his face. He couldn't help but let out a low chuckle as his hands reached up to wipe the water away. "It's me, Sam" he said, using the corners of his thumbs to remove the water from his eyes. A light smile touched his lips - Sam was as smart as ever. He couldn't blame the boys for being unsure. In fact, he would have been upset if they hadn't questioned it. They were smarter than that. John raised his hands for the boys to stop, not giving Dean the option to retrieve a silver knife. Instead, he knelt down and pulled one out of his own boot. Next, he slid the sleeve up on his flannel shirt. Looking back up to the boys, he nodded down for them to watch. He stuck the knife against his skin and cut a small slit. It bled - red, human, normal blood. John winced at the pain - he was still pretty weak, after all. "Well, what're you waitin' for? Get the salt, you boys gotta be thorough." From that sentence alone they should have realized. Nonetheless, he'd wait for them to salt the door and then he'd walk over it, just so they could be sure. "Hell, draw a devil's trap on the damn ceiling if ya need to. Just get me a beer while I'm waitin', would ya?" His words seemed slightly harsh, but his eyes were softer than ever. He was proud of his boys. More than anything, he wanted to reach out and hug them. However - he didn't want to get blasted by a shot of rock salt. Although it wouldn't kill him, it'd hurt like hell, that's for sure. - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - Dean could tell by the way that Sam was acting he was tired from class, maybe it wasn’t smart to be shoving cases in his face so soon after coming home. Dean couldn’t help it he just loved getting to work with his brother, and now that he has class he misses there time getting to hunt with one another. But then again he should be happy that Sam was still doing the business. After all he could have just quit and he didn’t, So Dean was thankful for that. He would hate having to do any of this with out him here.
Sam was right there was no way that it was there dad, they had to have something wrong. It ether was a few things ether a demon pretending to be there dad, or it was Bobby. It wasn’t the first time that he was referred to as there dad. But he never would have said that was his name was john which did kind of made the oldest Winchester wonder. “Yeah you are right Sammy it came be dad, as much as I would like it too be.” Said Dean before the knock on the door had came.
Dean was in shock there was no way there dad was really here, which was why Sam was right they needed to make sure by running the hunter tests. Which Dean would have done if he wasn’t in shock right now, so Sam was doing a lot better then he was in this moment. He couldn’t help it thought seeing the one person that he has wanted back so much after all this time. He watched as Sam threw the water on his face which didn’t do anything, but he still need to watch it there were other tests to go through. He hoped so much that he would pass them all. Dean wanted nothing but to reach out and hug his dad and never let go. He didn’t care if he looked like a baby or a girl. Oh well it was someone he missed so much.
Sam then looked to Dean for a knife which he actually didn’t have at the moment, seeing that it was under his pillow. But his dad all ready had one taking it out and cutting his arm to show them that it really was in fact him. His dad was right there was one more test they needed to go through and that was the salt. So Dean grabbed the salt bag they had, salting in front of the door. He looked at his dad with a smile waiting for him to walk through. “Dad we all ready have one of those, hidden other the matt you are standing on. You know us all ready to go.” Dean said before looking to his Brother. “Sammy I think this may really be dad, I think we can trust him.” Dean wanted nothing for this to be over and done with, he knew that this had to be there dad he could just feel it. The question was what was he back for.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - The man standing in front of him sounded the same as their fathers but then again he had heard this shit before. He remembered a time when Dean had SWORN that his father was calling them and yet at the end it ended up being just another fucked up demon trying to lure people into killing themselves using their loved ones as bait. He remembered arguing with Dean for days about this and while he had the assumption that it was something sinister…Dean had wanted to believe. So it didn’t surprise him that Dean was babbling like an idiot while he did something about the man that wore his father’s face.
Most people would be reassured that the man who looked like his father knew his name…but not Sam. No. He had learned a long time ago that demons had a way of reading your mind. It also didn’t help that he and Dean were pretty damn popular in the hunting community which meant that hunters and demons alike knew who they were. They had taken out a lot of demons in their day along with a hell of a lot of other things. Plus the whole apocalypse thing. Add to that the whole ‘Lucifer and Michael’s vessel things’… and it didn’t surprise him or his older brother anymore that people knew who they were.
Holy water had no effect was the first reaction that he had but of course this didn't stop him. He watched as he bled but snorted. "If you really are who you are claiming to be you should know that just because you bleed red doesn't mean a damn thing." He told him, taking out a silver knife that he had forgotten was in his back pocket. "Also I'd like to test it with my own knife if you don't mind." He told him, grabbing his other arm and making a cut in it. The same thing happened and he was starting to wonder if maybe he was losing his mind.
The comment about salt made him want to groan. Like they hadn't already done that. "Look down." He stated firmly, and when he did it was obvious that there was a firm line of salt all around the windows and the door. Sure it wasn't as thick as it had been but there was no broken patches which meant that this wasn't a demon. So exactly what was it? There was no way his father could be alive again...right?
Now, Sam knew better than most that things didn't always appear the way they seemed...but this was ridiculous. What cinched it was the barked out order to grab him a beer. Really? They were worried about him being a demon and he was worried about getting a beer? That was John Winchester alright...
Hearing his brother’s words he simply stood there and stared for a moment before moving out of the way. He wouldn’t invite him in verbally, since there were still vampires out there…however he wouldn’t stand in his way either. Also Dean was right…devil’s trap under the door mat and a salt line would prove if he really was John Winchester or if Sam and Dean were just clearly losing their minds. “I’m going to call Bobby.” Was all he said before moving towards the back of the hotel room…allowing his older brother time with their…father?

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -The Eldest Winchester nodded as his youngest son informed him he would be using his own knife. Little Sammy, always so damn stubborn. He was glad however that the boys were being so careful. Extending his other arm as Sam made a cut in it, he bled again, his eyes cringing at the pain. Normally he wouldn't even have noticed it much as he's been through much worse - but, he was still pretty weak after only having left the hospital days ago. His body felt weak, his muscles felt like jell-o...Even simply standing for too long made his body ache.
John nodded at the salt line beneath him and the devil's trap, again, impressed the boys were so prepared. He couldn't help but wonder what they'd been through since he'd been gone. He'd spotted a paper on his travels and knew he'd been gone several years. "For the record Sam, holy water wouldn't have any effect it I was a demon of real power...But the salt and devil's trap was a nice touch."
A proud smile tilted the upper ends of his lips as he passed through the barrier and into the room. Pulling the door shut behind them, he couldn't wait any longer. Crossing the distance between him and Dean he pulled the man into a tight hug. "I've missed you, son" he told his oldest, hugging him tight for what seemed like ever. Nearly an entire minute later he pulled back and held Dean's arms as he looked him up and down, taking him in. "You look like you've been through hell and back, boy" he said with a smirk. Although he would have hugged Sam, and wanted to, his youngest went to the other side of the room to call Bobby. "Sam...do you have to call him right now? Not that I don't want to see an old friend but I just got here..." he said quietly, his voice making him feel old and weak. And he was, at the moment. But he knew it'd take time - he simply hadn't wanted to wait to see his boys. Letting go of Dean, he moved over to sit on the edge of one of the beds in the room. Taking a load off as he sat he looked around the room briefly before tilting his head back up to Dean. "So, how about that beer?" John Winchester was back. - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - Dean was pretty sure this was in fact there dad, he didn’t know why he just felt it. This wasn’t like the last time when he knew that it wasn’t and yellow eyes had a hold of him. This just didn’t feel like that, plus there dad was acting like him respecting all there wishes for what they were doing. If this was a demon they be trying to make there way in. Dean had this feeling that this was in fact there dad, even though he didn’t see how it was possible but it had to be. Plus many others had came back from the dead before now so why not there dad. It was only a matter of time that someone had brought back John Winchester himself, but this also may have not been a good thing. Seeing that the Angels and demons always have a reason for who they brought back. What was the reason for this he wondered?
Sam wasn’t having it he still didn’t trust any of the tests that he was taking, with all that Sam had been through being fucked over by demons it was going to take a lot to convince him. “Sammy come on man he showed us, after all man I think this really might be dad I can feel it. I was right once before when it wasn’t why cant you trust me now god damn it!” Said Dean. It was funny how much Sam use to hate there dad for not trusting anything, making sure the job was done right and that they did it right. It was one of the reasons he left for Stanford. But now he is so much like there dad now its crazy, he knew there dad had to be proud of them if this was him if it was him. Dean waited for the cut which didn’t do a thing but make him bleed more, which showed it was him.
It was enough tests he had proven himself to them, he couldn’t believe that there dad was in fact here. Dean still wondered if this was a dream or if the Angels had pulled him into heaven again because to Dean this was his safe haven. Having his family all back together, he had wanted this for so long. Crossing over the salt Dean went over giving his dad a big hug, not wanting to let go because of how good and real it felt. This couldn’t have been a dream. “I miss you to dad, to answer your question I have been through hell and back, and I will tell you it’s a place I never want to go back to.” Said Dean with a smile back to his old man.
The youngest Winchester still wasn’t having it. “Sam its dad he is really here why you still tripping he passed our tests, you don’t need to call Bobby man.” He Said trying to calm his brother down. Dean turned to his dad helping make his way to the bed, he could tell that he still weak from coming back. “Let him go dad Sam is going to do what he wants to do, you know that. Unfortunately that still has not changed about him” He wished that his brother believe that it was him, but he knew that he was just going to have to realize it on his own. Maybe Bobby could knock some sense into him, but at first Bobby wasn’t going to believe it ether.
He couldn’t agree with his dad more, a beer right now sounded just like what they needed. “Hell yeah sounds good to me.” He said making his way to the fridge, getting out three cold ones hoping Sam would come back to join.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - He turned to shoot a look at...his father? "Maybe not on a demon...however this is a town that is full of vampires and the like and the holy water would have had an effect on them." He told him before moving towards the back of the hotel room and dialing Bobby's number. He and Bobby hadn't even spoken since Sam himself had his soul returned to him but that was just because Sam hadn't had time to meet up with him. He was sure however that Bobby had heard the news from Dean so he didn't bother with any pleasantries he just left a message for the man who had been as much of a father as John himself had.
"Hey Bobby, it's Sam. Listen...uh...something happened...something weird. And yes before you even say it I know this is not unusual being that it's us but yeah, so dad...yes I said dad...he showed up and as far as Dean and I can tell it's really him..." He wanted to continue but he got cut off by the damn voicemail so he dialed the number again and continued where he left off once the beep went off. "We tried everything to make sure but so far it seems like it's real. We are the hotel so either call or stop by. Talk to you later." He hung up then and turned around, having had his back turned while he was leaving the voicemails.
He caught his father and brother in a hug and shook his head at the scene. He really didn't know what to feel. He was happy his father was back of course but he was also worried. He knew that he and Dean had been through hell and back and while John Winchester knew about Azazel...he doubted he knew about the Michael/Lucifer stuff. That would not be a fun conversation. He knew it would not go over well for the eldest Winchester to learn that both his boys had been in hell, and one had been ridden all the way there by Lucifer…the devil himself. He also knew that he would not be amused that Sam had walked around without a damn soul for over a year. Yeah, the next few hours while they had story time could easily be some of the hardest that they had ever dealt with but what happened would happen and he’d deal with it then.
It was more than that though. Sam and his father had NEVER had the same relationship that Dean and him had. It was probably because they were more alike than either cared to admit. However that had caused more than a few fights and he didn’t want to jump back into that spiteful relationship again. Before he could walk over his phone rang and he looked down, a smile lighting up his face that no one had ever seen before. He didn’t even notice it but there it was. Answering quickly he heard his favorite voice on the other end and chuckled as she spoke about meeting him later. “I think it’s going to have to wait. Some stuff came up. I’ll explain later okay?” He asked. Once Sarah gave the affirmative he chuckled. “I love you too. Call you later.” He stated before hanging up and sliding the phone back in his pocket.
The tallest of the Winchester men walked over, dragging a chair from the small table so that he was sitting in front of both John and Dean but not on either of the beds. This way no one had to crick their neck to talk. “So what happened? I mean not that we’re not glad to see you and all but it’s been quite a while.” He stated before leaning over and smacking his older brother upside the head and glaring. “And I heard what you said about me doing what I want. Pot, meet kettle.” He told him with a glare.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -John shook his head as his arm outstretched to press against Dean's chest while he shouted at his brother. "Now now, boys. Sammy's just bein' thorough and god knows there ain't nothin' wrong with that. Settle down, Dean." After all, he didn't want his boys fighting whatsoever and he definitely didn't want them fighting over him. Sam being extra careful wasn't a bad thing either. In fact, it only made the old man grin with pride. He'd raised his boys right and that he was able to tell despite how short of a time he'd spent with them since coming back.
At first he was smiling, until Dean added the part that he never wanted to go back to hell. He'd thought they were only using hell as a euphemism but apparently not. "Not wanting to go back implies you've been there before. That ain't true, is it?"
he asked and as soon as he seen the looks on the boys face he threw his hands up. Standing up to his feet he ignored the beer Dean was handing him, beginning to pace back and forth around the room. "What the hell happened? You boys were supposed to look out for each other!" Although he was sure there was an explanation he wasn't sure if he could calm down to hear it. He was furious. When Sam smacked Dean, John rolled his eyes and reached out and smacked Sam against the head. When he saw Dean grinning like an idiot about it, he then reached over and smacked him against the side of the head too. "What the hell is wrong with you two? I asked you two to take care of each other. What the hell happened?" he asked, furious and yet, also feeling extremely weak. He started to realize that maybe he wasn't ready for all of this. He didn't however want to sit on the bed next to Dean, or in a chair. Before he fainted he decided to lean against the wall by the front door. While he waited for explanations, he bent over and placed his hands on his hips to try and catch his breath. He was still getting used to being alive, and having fallen down from heaven. Literally fallen. Breath caught, he stayed leaned against the wall but stood up straighter to look both of the boys in the eye. His look was one of warning. "Tell me everything. Now. Including but not limited to whoever you just said I love you too, Sam." Word Count:: 476 Tag:: Dean, Sam Note:: God I love this thread!! - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - Dean didn’t know what to do to make him believe and maybe he couldn’t, this maybe something that Sam was going to have to take in and deal with on his own. Calling Bobby was just one of his ways, seeing that he was like another dad to them anyway. Dean then wondered what the old man would say when he saw him, he was going to be pretty shocked at first. But then later he may have a few words for him, seeing that they had there moments.
John had told Dean to settle down, maybe he was right maybe he was being a bit to hard on him. He couldn’t help it seeing that this was there dad that Dean had missed for so long, and right now he just wanted to spend time with him with no drama or trouble. “Sorry dad I’m just happy to see you after so long, I just want Sam to be with us in this moment as well you know.” Said Dean to his dad with a smile. Sam and him didn’t need to be fighting after all this time, it was on of the things there dad hated most that they did.
He could tell that his dad was starting to realize that he wasn’t joking about the going to hell part, which sadly he wasn’t. He wanted so badly to tell his dad that it wasn’t true but it was. “Yeah dad I did but I had a reason of why I went.” Said the oldest Winchester. “Something had happened to Sam so I did what I knew I had to do, dad I always told you I watch over Sam and I didn’t want to fail so. I did what I knew I needed to do.” John didn’t seem so happy with the way the boys had been acting with each other, but that was because times had been tough lately. He had raised his voice to both the boys wanting them to get along. “Dad we have been looking out for each other, why you think I went to hell in the first place?” he asked his dad.
Sam had came back done from calling Bobby, it seemed he was starting to believe what was going on. But then bam all the sudden Sam had hit Dean upside the head. “hey what you do that for ass hat!” Dean said while yelling at Sam. “Its true you do what you want that will never change man.” Then all the sudden not long after John had begin hitting them both, Dean really was starting to get a headache now from how much he was hit. He could tell that they really needed to chill out this was a lot for there dad to take in right now. “Sorry Dad you are right, Sam and me will get along things have just been tough lately for us.” Said Dean.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - He snickered at Dean getting lectured from John. It wasn't something that happened often since he was usually the one that got under their fathers skin. He wasn't sure why he felt so awkward around the man that had raised him other than the fact that he had been gone for so long. It wasn't as if he and Dean weren't used to people randomly appearing back from the dead and yet this felt different...who knew. He'd figure it out later. He knew he was going to have a sleepless night of going through his thoughts but he pushed them away for now, instead focusing on his family.
He groaned when Dean mentioned going back to hell and it didn't take his father long to catch it. Ignoring a beer for John Winchester was a sign of the apocalypse. No, actually, it was worse than that. Even during the end of the world John Winchester could always be counted on to want a beer, or something stronger if it was near. “Son of a…” He trailed off, reaching out to touch the back of his head when he felt a hard slap against it. “You know that can cause brain damage.” He muttered under his breath. He didn’t say it loudly since he knew both Dean and John would make some smart ass comment but eh, whatever. That shit hurt.
Watching Dean get hit twice was amusing but his father asking them harshly why they hadn't looked out for one another made the grin that had almost been to his lips drop and he kept his eyes down. That's the thing, they had been looking out for one another. That's why they had both been to hell. Well, Dean had given himself up for Sam. Sam had given himself up for the world which included Dean.
He ignored his father's question about who he had been on the phone with and waited for Dean to start talking since out of the two of them, Dean was oldest. Let him get it out. Or at least he'd let him start and interject when it was necessary. Unfortunately it didn’t look as if Dean was going to talk so he took a deep breath and stood up again, taking John’s place as he paced the room. “Long story short? Azazel…Yellow Eyes…he pretty much kidnapped me and a bunch of the ‘special children’. All of us had abilities and all of our mothers were killed when we were six months old. He wanted a leader to lead his army. The catch was that we had to kill the other special kids to win the right to be that leader. I wouldn’t do it. I wouldn’t kill a human.” He stated, making sure to say ‘wouldn’t’ in past tense. He had changed a lot over the last few years. He couldn’t say that anymore.
“Long story short, it was down to two of us. Yellow Eyes kept coming to each of us in dreams, trying to get us to kill the other. I didn’t fall for it, but Jake did. He stabbed me in the back and there was nothing Dean or Bobby could do to stop it. I remember Dean running at me and the next thing I remember is waking up later. I found out later that Dean had made a deal…but it wasn’t one that most people got. He didn’t get ten years…he got one. And they brought me back. He tried to keep it from me but I figured it out. We spent a year after that trying to find a way out of the deal…we never found one.” He stated, taking a deep breath, looking over at Dean to see if he had anything to add.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -Bending back up straight after catching his breath he stood up straight again and glared at Dean. Sometimes he just wanted to rattle these boys, no matter how much he loved them. And he did love them to death. Literally. "Life is always tough for people who do what we do. It doesn't mean you go jumping off the deep end and having a beer with the damn devil!"
Oh god - it was going to happen. Surely John was about to have a heart attack. He could feel it coming. He hadn't exactly expected his reunion with the boys to go like this. When he'd walked in and seen them both answer the door he'd saw them alive and together and he'd felt at peace. Knowing now that Dean had somehow died as well and come back didn't sit well with him. And Dean saying how he'd done it for him? That didn't sit well with him either because it meant something had happened to Sam as well. Christ. He was going to have a heart attack for sure. Throwing an annoyed hand out and waving away Sam's worries, he shook his head. "I'm sure you've got enough brain cells to spare. Now spill before I start smackin' the two a ya again!" he replied, clearly frustrated and not taking any of this very well. When Dean didn't spill, Sam had. Which he had assumed would happen anyways. Dean had never been able to let his father down, whereas Sam, had no problem in doing so. After Sam was done, John simply leaned against the wall, looking completely defeated. He shook his head in disbelief. "No." Seeing the questioning eyes of his sons, he assumed he should elaborate. But for a moment the words wouldn't come to him. "No..." he said again, and still, no more words came to the surface. He couldn't form any words to explain what he considered impossible. Looking down to his shoes, he stood there silently for several minutes. The boys could have been talking but he couldn't hear anything. He was getting dizzy, getting weaker by the second. After a couple minutes had passed he looked back up to the both of them, eyes traveling first to Dean and then back to Sam. "I killed Yellow Eyes. I killed him...I remember" he finally spoke. He'd come back to save his boys from the damn thing! How could this have happened? And if what Sam was saying, had he died in vain? Could he have failed them after all? He'd spent all of this time up in Heaven thinking he'd died to save his boys. But if anything, he'd only prolonged their own travesties... Everything he'd done - it'd meant nothing. He'd failed them. His heart sank into his chest. A tear left his eyelid and slipped down his cheek. John Winchester had failed his boys. Word Count:: 537 Tag:: Dean, Sam Note:: God I love this thread!! - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - His dad was right he shouldn’t have just gone diving in hell like he did, but it was the only thing he could think to do. When Dean panics he freaks out sometimes, and doesn’t always think. “Dad I know but I lost it and didn’t think, I had lost my only family I had left my baby brother and didn’t want to live without him. I’m sorry dad I know that it was dumb. But look it worked out I got him back and I’m here.” Said Dean. “Sorry I don’t think sometimes, you should know that better then anyone.”
Dean could tell by the groan that Sam let out he hated hearing about hell, he remember that it was a time that Sam hated. Knowing that his brother was going to be leaving in a year, plus Sam felt like it was his fault seeing that Dean sold his soul to save his. Dean couldn’t help but smile when he saw Sam getting smacked which wasn’t good on his part seeing that he got nailed one to. His dad was here and meant business, he knew that he needed to stop playing around Which for him wasn’t easy at all. “Yeah dad you need to watch it Sam needs all those brain cells, after all he is the smart one.” Said the oldest Winchester keeping quite after that not wanting to be hit anymore.
Dean didn’t need to say anything else, as Sam begin to explain what had happened which he couldn’t have said it any better. He told him detail by detail so well it was like they were reliving it all over again. He could tell by the tone in Sam’s voice this wasn’t easy for him to talk about, he couldn’t lie it made Dean feel loved in away happy to have his brother there for him. He could tell as Sam looked over at his as well he was waiting to see if he had anything to add. “Yeah Dad we looked and looked….Well Sam looked and looked and didn’t stop for me, he was determined to find away to help me. But we couldn’t but I will tell you it didn’t stop me from finding away back to my bro.” he said with a smile.
He could tell that there dad seemed upset, almost like this was his fault or something which it wasn’t in away at all. The deal was long made before they had killed yellow eyes. “Dad its not your fault I made the deal before we took on yellow eyes. Please don’t cry dad.” Dean couldn’t lie he wasn’t good when it came to crying, he didn’t always know how to take it because really it made him want to tear up. “Look all that matters is we are here together now, we are a family again.” he said walking up to his dad.

- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - He had enough! Why was it that his father could be completely okay with himself going to hell for Dean but Dean going to hell for him didn't sound like it was acceptable. Sam had always been his fathers problem child which was ironic in his eyes since Dean was the one who was the more rebellious one in all actuality. Then again in his fathers eyes sleeping around and making out with random girls wasn't rebellious. Rebellious was him going off to college instead of following the family legacy of being killed by a damn demon in the middle of nowhere.
He was completely fed up and his eyes showed it. "Could you be any more of a hypocrite dad?" He asked, though it was more of a sneer. He was not amused and he was sure his brother saw through his icy stare more than his father. His father and he had never been close though he had learned over the years that it was because they were so similar, something that to this day he shivered at the thought. He would never treat his children, if he ever had any, like his father treated him and Dean. He would not raise his children to be warriors. They would have a home and they would have a stable life, something that he and his brother had not even imagined as a child.
"Figures...it's okay for me to die but not your oldest. That's fine. I'm out of here. I have plans with someone that I can actually call family." He told him, leaning over, his large frame spread out over the bed as he pulled out book bag from between the beds and his coat, sliding them both one seamlessly. He was out of here and he didn't care who tried to stop him, he'd leave however he could.
Luckily both father and brother seemed stunned by his outburst so neither tried to stop him. He was at the door before he turned around. "And while I'm gone, why don't you two have a nice discussion on why you told my big brother that he might have to kill me one day...cause that really sent warm and fuzzy feelings through both of us let me tell you." He told him before opening the door, walking out and slamming it behind him. He needed to see Sarah. He needed to hold her and know that at least one person cared.
Cause clearly it wasn't his father.
