Robert has heard the name slayer thrown around throughout his years, most times by the odd hunter or two, but never had he believed the name to be nothing more than are rumour; and fabrication told of some saviour that was supposed to save them all from demons, and the growing darkness. Even as Dean told him this, Robert was still unwilling to listen that the slayer actually existed, and chances were that Dean wasn’t lying when he said this; Robert knew it was just hard for him to think any differently. He had gone his entire life, not believing that there was a slayer that walked among them, that it was just some story made up of legend of some vampire slayer, scare vampires, that wasn’t all but Robert was finding himself having to change a few of his views, as he settled down in Richmond.
“I suppose next, you’ll have me believing in goblins.” Robert stated, sarcastically telling Dean how he obviously thought neither were real. He was sure goblins didn’t they were merely fairytale creatures, the slayer on the other hand, now it was possible that she could exist; with how much lore there was on her, but Robert was old fashion and in a way just like Dean, they both would believe in something, if they could see it with their own eyes.
It wasn’t like Robert didn’t know why the two brothers kept on sacrificing themselves for one another, if they didn’t do it then he would have probably done the same, if not for Rufus then he would for both Dean and Sam; and Ellen and Jo but he didn’t, and even when he kept a single bullet in one of his pistols, Robert still stuck around for them. It was what he had to do, for everyone’s sake, none of them were blood but then family went deeper then blood, this was what Robert tried constantly to instil into them. That although they may be saving one another, from a fate far was then anyone could imagine; even though neither would go to hell, they’ve done too much good to go there. They were still leaving him to deal with their consequences, be it having to tell Ellen and Jo, or keep the other brother from doing something foolish as well.
“Oh so you care about family now.” Robert mumbled, annoyed that now they both were finally beginning to listen to him, annoyed that it had taken both of them so long to understand, “because if you did sell your soul again, then I would be forced to tear down stairs up, and bring you back kicking and screaming if I had to.” He joked, although Robert still was quite serious because he has even tied Sam to a bed before to keep him from doing anything harmful.
Robert watched on in silence, when Dean began bragging how good of a shot he was; even as a kid he could always shoot any short of weapon, it was what made him such a good hunter. Robert even though he had once made it clear to John, that he didn’t agree with the man’s parenting, and in fact he still didn’t there was no denying that Dean was a natural. With Sam he didn’t need to be hunting, he had the smarts and compassion to make it in the real world, but he and Dean was another breed; they were hunters until the end.
“Nice shot just don’t get too cocky.” Robert said cheerfully stated, which he didn’t do too well compared to his hoarse rasp, “that’s also a good way to get yourself dead.” Robert then stated, more as a warning now telling Dean that as a hunter, one could never allow themselves to think that they were too good, as a marksman and more importantly for a job.
