- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The blonde vampire was in a hurry, something she really hated to be in. She was always the person who was early. She hated to be late and hated to be rushed. Fashionably late was one thing if it was planned yet being rushed to even get there fashionably late was another matter all together. She was late for a meeting with several of her old friends who she was trying to get information out of about the originals. They didn’t know that of course since all she had done was call a meeting of old friends at the Mystic Falls Hilton but it was definitely a fishing expedition.
Unfortunately earlier she had gotten held up doing some research of her own so that way she had something to add should she get any information from the group of vampires that she was meeting. This had led to a few startling discoveries including that Damon was right about should the originator of a blood line be slaughtered then so would all of that originator’s children. She knew that this was very bad news for all of them since according to Damon at least the originator of the Salvatore bloodline was Klaus, something that annoyed her since it limited them on what they could do to get him away from Mystic Falls.
Sliding on her pink and black dress she looked in the mirror in order to tie her hair back in a low ponytail. Her blonde hair was sleep, pin straight, but with the pony tail it made her look fierce. Pairing her dress with a pair of pink high heels with a clear heel she grinned, loving the outfit. She wasn't dark like most vampires, actually she was quite the opposite. She loved bright colors especially pink so she always made sure to dress with a splash of color. Sliding on three black and crystal bangles she then paired it with a black ring and a black diamond necklace. Checking herself in the mirror once more she nodded to herself before walking down the stairs.
She had just recently gotten a hotel room of her own, having stayed at the Salvatore Boarding House and before that the Gilbert Home. She actually planned on acquiring a home of her own soon since it was clear she wouldn't be leaving Mystic Falls for quite a while. Grabbing her Kate Spade pink clutch she walked out the door, heading to the elevator and then out again, looking down as she slid her hotel key in her clutch. Unfortunately this didn't work as well as she thought since before she could look up she felt herself run into someone. "Ommf." She stated, wincing as she realized that she had hit someone. "I am so sorry!" She told them, finally looking up to meet their eyes.

----------------------- ----------------------- There were times when she could pass for a goth if she wore black and donned red lipstick, but this was not one of those times. Usually Mari just wanted to fit in with those around her so when she heard about Lexi's get together she'd made a point of dressing up. She liked bright colors and the sense of freedom that today's fashion brought with it. She was in the process of moving into a home she had bought here and was expecting the movers tomorrow.
For now, she was in a hotel. Her things were being sent for and movers were handling the unload and unpack. The one thing that she didn't skimp on was hiring folks to move her and get her settled in. Given the area she might think of hiring a maid but the jury was still out on that. Glancing at herself in the mirror she adjusted the diamond and coral combs that kept her curls out of her face. She rather liked the look and it was very cool given how humid Virginia could get.
To say she was excited to be seeing old friends was an understatement; she was thrilled, it wasn’t often that you got to spend time with friends you knew for hundreds of years. It was always hard moving from place to place and dealing with people. Humans, she shuddered at the thought. They honestly terrified her and while many would see it as a good reason to kill them, she just wanted to stay away from them. She was happy to raise and feed on rabbits in an out of the way estate where no one that didn’t know her would come poking around. She was going to have to explore eventually. It was just a matter of time.
With all this wool gathering she didn’t realize she was bumping into someone straight out of the elevator, “Oh, I’m sorry.” She hopped back a bit startled by the unexpected contact and then blinked, “Lexi? I knew I’d run into you, I just didn’t think it was literally.” She said with a soft chuckle, “You look amazing. Love the pink.” She grinned as she stepped back, “Oh my goodness where did you find those heels?” Alright so she was a bit of a clothes horse too. But she was very picky. She wouldn’t just wear something off the bargain rack at Target. She did have some standards.
Beaming at her friend she brushed her curls out of her face and smiled. Her barefoot sandals caught the light and the pearls shimmered gently. She always felt better with them on. They made her feel light as air. Word Count: 447 Tag: Lexi Outfit: Mari's outfit Notes: Mari's first appearance. -----------------------

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Her eyes widened as she took in the familiar dark hair of one of her good friends, Marina Sinclaire. Marina was one of the few people who knew her as well as both Salvatore brothers which led to some interesting past experiences, then again anything with Damon or Stefan was interesting, but put them together and things got downright insane. Then again she knew that most of the people that she knew could say the same thing about her since she tended to like to hop a boat, plane, car, whatever and hit the road randomly, which had led to more than one insane adventure over the year.
“Mari?” She asked before grinning an almost relieved smile, more than grateful to see her old friend. "Well you know me, I just can't help falling into you...oh wait, wrong song. That's falling in love with you. Oh well, same thing fits I guess, I just can't help knocking into people. I highly doubt that would have been nearly as large of a hit as the other song though." She rambled before shaking her head. "Sorry, my brain seems to still be on the floor." She stated with a laugh, flicking her blonde hair over her shoulder. She really didn’t want to cut it but it was one of the numerous plans that she had made with Elena for when they tracked down Salvatore Number 1 and Salvatore Number 2.
She chuckled at the question and looked down, trying to remember where she had bought her shoes. “I think I bought them in Italy a few years ago. I just never had anything to wear them with until I bought this dress. I have an addiction to buying shoes that have no purpose other than they are too beautiful not to buy.” She told her with a laugh, knowing that her friend was just as big of a fashionista as she was.
Her eyes caught on Mari’s shoes and quirked an eyebrow. “Okay those are adorable. Just enough to get away with being barefoot while at the same time no one knowing that’s what you actually were. Genius sweets.” She told her before pulling the other woman into a fierce hug, making sure that she checked for injuries as she did. Lexi had lost many people over the years so anytime she ran into an old friend she made sure they were alright before questioning them. Not seeing, feeling or smelling anything wrong she pulled away. “So what brings you into town Ms. Sinclaire?” She asked curiously.

----------------------- ----------------------- Mari couldn't help but chuckle and waved her off, "Well no wonder with planning this get together and wrangling both Salvatores its a wonder you know your own name. Just one of those things would have me forgetting things. Doing both makes you Superwoman as far as I'm concerned." she said with an understanding smile.
"We are so going to have to go shoe shopping sometime soon. Its always fun to have company. We can make a day of it. Nice shoes and then some mani and pedis." she said warmly as she looked back up at her friend. "After all this, I'm thinking you need a break, girl."
Laughing she hugged her friend, "I was thinking of staying in Mystic Falls for a bit. I'm in the process of moving in and I'm getting my rabbit hutches put in in the back. Figure I'm far enough out to stay away from town drama but near enough to visit." she said with a happy smile. "Gets me away from large crowds but I can still see my friends." she said with a contented shrug. She stepped back so Lexi could get a good look at her. "So what's been going on? Anything good? You know me, solitary life and all that." she made a goofy face so she didn't bring down the mood.
She was happy she decided to move. While she was afraid of humans and what they could do to her, around her own kind she liked to be social. She felt safe around them and it was the only thing that would get her out from her house when she wasn't shopping. That was about the only social thing she did that involved humans in more than a cursory manner.
She moved away from the elevator so they didn't get trampled by the next group that was coming through and gestured to a set of seats close by in case Lexi wanted to keep an eye out for her other guests. Her dress moved gently as she shifted, shimmering in the light as the breeze from the air conditioning tickled the hem of her dress.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - She laughed and nodded, knowing that what Marina said was completely the truth. “Well when both brothers decided to go friggin postal at the same time how could I not take on the challenge?” She asked with a flip of her blonde hair. “After all we both know Stefan is my best friend which makes him my weakness and Damon is just a pain in the ass but he means a lot to Stefan which means that I have to help him.” She stated, not letting on to her growing feelings for the elder Salvatore brother, especially not to someone who could potentially spill the beans to Stefan.
She really didn’t want to have that fight with him right after she brought him back which she could definitely see happening if he found out anytime in the near future.
She slid her arm into Marina’s and she led the way into the dining room where she was meeting the others, though by looking down at her phone she noted she had quite a bit before any of them got here. Originally she had thought she was running late but luckily for her she had been mistaken which was a good thing as she hated to be late.
“Trust me, after I get Stefan and Damon back to their normal charming selves I’m going to steal Stefan’s credit card and make him pay for my mani pedi.” She told her with a wink, clearly showing that she was not at all serious. Not that she would have to steal it as Stefan would more than willingly allow her to use it but she wouldn’t ever ask him to. She was just trying to make light of the situation that was clearly a lot darker than she wanted to admit to anyone, including herself.
Shaking her head she smiled, though this one was more of a sad smile. “I wouldn’t be a friend if I didn’t warn you. This town is not for the faint hearted.” She told her honestly. “There is a lot of stuff that’s going on that’s not something I would want to drag my friends into but unfortunately it’s sort of an ‘us or them’ game these days. You’ve heard of Klaus right? The original? Well, one of the originals? He as well as the rest of his family are here and they have got their sights set on the Salvatore boys plus all of their friends…that’s why I need to get Stefan and Damon back to normal before anything else goes wrong.” She stated, her tone warning.

----------------------- ----------------------- "You would think they would learn to tag team." she said with a sigh as she rolled her eyes ever so slightly. Not to make light of it, it was serious, but to show her how much she understood. Mari may have kept to herself but she wasn't stupid. "Sounds like Divide and conquer to me. You always take on too much, Lexi." joking aside Lexi trying to fix both was not going to work. It took all of ones concentration to fix one brother let alone another.
Walking into the dining room with the other woman she looked about, sliding into a chair gracefully so she and Lexi could talk until others arrived. Her eyes scanned the area as she tried to get the lay of the land. Collecting her thoughts she tried to think of what she should ask.
"I've never been faint of heart. My own kind I can deal with. Humans I avoid. I think you need another person in your court, girl. Might as well be me. More friends you have the better chance we all have of making it out alive. Besides, last time I checked, danger can pop up anywhere vampires are. Seems to be the thing we bring with us. And yes, Stefan does owe you a mani/pedi big time if he's being a jerk. You've got me on your team, hon. We'll figure something out." she said simply with a grin and shrug.
"Now what do I need to know to survive in Mystic Falls?" she asked simply as she folded her hands in front of her and prepared to listen to what her friend had to say. Contrary to popular believe vampires did not have it easy once they crossed over. It was a struggle to survive in a constantly evolving world. One had to know how to adapt. "These Originals, what do they want? Did Damon say something to them that set them off?" She knew how Damon loved to get under other peoples skin. It was a specialty of his and one he relished. Stefan's issues could be anything from a bitter ex lover to someone wanting to get revenge on him for being a ripper.
"One thing is for certain if they have flipped the switch they are not going to be helping their case. Damon is even more impulsive and Stefan just gets vindictive. I think he studied Kathrine too much from what I've heard of the things she did." -----------------------

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - She shook her head with a laugh. “Nah, I’ve got a plan which luckily for me should work. Elena, who is Stefan’s girlfriend by the way and he’s quite in love with her, is pretty good at getting him to get his feelings back in check…I plan on using that.” She told her honestly. “Though I could use a bit of help watching over the town here while I go track their asses down wherever they are. Mike is looking out for me and so are a few others trying to figure out where they went but so far they are in the wind…though I can guarantee they won’t be for long since neither of them are the subtle sort.” She stated with another laugh.
She smiled gratefully at Mari, glad that she had someone else on her side. Sure she had Elena, and Jeremy but neither of them really knew what it was like to always have to be the bad guy. She hated that she always had to be the one to deal with things when they got rough but she knew that she could do it which was the reason she continued to do so. It didn’t mean that she liked it but she’d rather be the bad guy and be forgiven later than just let her friends go downhill and not ever resurface
She sat down and stared at her old friend, trying to think about what to tell her and what not to. She didn’t want to give her all the details about Katherine and Elena and such but she didn’t know if she would have too in order for her to understand the severity of the situation. Then again maybe she could skirt around that particular issue. She would give her the gist of it and answer questions with revealing too much…not because she didn’t trust Mari but because who knew these days who else was listening in on private conversations.
“It started out with Damon being bitten by a werewolf. The original, Klaus? He’s not just an original vampire…he’s a hybrid. Meaning that he’s trying to master his own race of Vampire/Werewolf hybrids. Damon was bitten by a werewolf and the only cure with Klaus’ blood, to which Stefan went and begged for. Apparently Stefan and Klaus were buddies in the 1920’s and Klaus wanted him back on his team. So he gave Stefan his blood if he’d work with him. Stefan of course agreed since he’d do anything to save his brother. However Damon, with a lot of prodding from Elena, tracked them and Klaus got pissed off and came back to Mystic Falls, where Damon was here trying to come up with a way to get his brother back.”
Sure there was no mention of Klaus and the sacrifice but what would she be able to say around all those that could easily be listening? She didn’t want to mention the sacrifice and give someone else any bright ideas. The last thing she needed was Elena to be a target from someone else…again.
Two morons were enough, she didn’t want to deal with a third.

Nodding her head quietly she sipped at the water glass that was off to the side making it look like there was nothing amiss, just 2 friends talking and reminicing, "Well I can be an extra set of eyes if you need it. You know I've got your back." she assured her.
She listened as Lexi mentioned the originals, "Well it would seem like you've got your hands full with the boys. I'll try and keep an ear to the ground for you about this family and try and make sure that things don't get too crazy around town. Although the town quarterback is...wait you mentioned hybrids I think this kid, Tyler Lockwood is one if the smell I got from him is any indicator." she said as she began to piece things together.
"I helped the kid with his math homework. Seems really closed off an uptight if you ask me." she exhaled and looked over at her friend. "We'll just play to our strengths. You work on what you do and if they need to talk after I'll be here. In the meantime I'll play tourist and see what folks might let slip to a stranger that they won't tell anyone else."
She waited for a lull in the conversation then ordered a light bisque soup and a glass of white wine. She could digest both and it wouldn't look quite so weird to sit there and not eat. "We've got challenges but its nothing we haven't gotten through before." she said with confidence; trying to cheer her friend up a bit. "I'll have to meet, Elena at some point she sounds like she's pretty special if Stefan fell for her." It would help to know what exactly she was getting into with this group and meeting folks seemed to be a good way to do it. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - She shook her head at the mention of Tyler Lockwood. “I haven’t actually met him but he’s friends with Stefan’s girlfriend and apparently they grew up together. From what Elena has told me Tyler was Klaus’ first successful hybrid.” She told her, trying to remember everything that Elena had told her about when Klaus had first learned that it was Elena’s blood that had to be used to make a hybrid. “I know that Klaus fed Tyler his blood, then killed him and made him take Elena’s blood somehow though I don’t remember how, either way I know that Tyler was Klaus’ first successful hybrid.” She stated with a groan, not adding to the fact that it had to be Elena’s blood, just telling Mari that it had been Elena’s blood that Klaus had used.
“Keeping an ear to the ground so to speak would be good.” She replied with a smile before she heard a ding going off in her clutch. She pulled it out quickly and noted with a groan that it was Alex who still hadn’t seen any sign of the two elusive Salvatore brothers. For the most part all her contacts had been a wash though she was still waiting on a few.
Sliding her purse back into her clutch she returned her attention to Mari, realizing she had missed a few things that she had said but caught up with it soon enough. “Tyler seems to be the most closed off and temperamental of those that I’ve heard about. I know that he became a werewolf after killing some girl which pissed me off but you know, what can I do about it?” She asked, knowing that all those who knew her knew that she didn’t like hearing that people had their choices taken away from them.
Another text message sounded from her bag and once she read it her eyes widened and she stood up suddenly. “Scott has a lead.” She told Mari, her eyes alight though she still didn’t have all of the details. “I have got to go and find Elena and then we’ve got to be ready when Scott lets me know where they are. I am so sorry Mari but I’m going to have to cut this short. You know how I am when I want to fix something. Once I get the boys back and normal we’ll all go out for drinks, and it’ll be totally their treat.” She told her with a laugh before pecking her on the cheek and walking as quickly as “humanly” possible towards the door.
It was time to bring the boys home.
