Jesse walked into the building known as "The Mystic Grill" and looked around, trying to determine if there was an empty table anywhere. But apparently, it was busy today as most of the seats appeared to be filled. However, he finally spotted one and walked over to the table and sat down, pulling a menu that was on the table close to him. Okay, what looked good and what was he in the mood for? He blew out a breath as he perused the list and then looked at his watch. Well, it was around dinner time, so he figured a burger or something would probably hit the spot. Yeah, I'll go with a burger, he decided as he closed his menu. At the moment, he was dressed casually in a dark green shirt, a pair of black denim jeans, and his favorite pair of black boots. The outfit was only accompanied by his leather Vervain wrist cuff.
Just as soon as he did this, one of the waitresses walked up to him, notepad and pen at the ready. "What can I get for you?" she asked. "Cheeseburger, no onions, and a Regular Coke," he replied. "It's coming right up and will be ready in a few minutes," she told him, writing the order down. "Thank you," he responded. The woman nodded and then walked to the next table, leaving him alone. He blew out a breath and then leaned back in his seat. What was going on in this town? Nothing was making sense. But that was part of why he was here: to make sense of everything. He couldn't just very well expect to have all the answers the moment he walked into town. Though he suppose he could if he was a vampire and able to compel it out of somebody. But he wasn't the vampire of the family. That was Mick. Mick. He missed him. He hadn't seen him for a while, but he supposed that he was doing okay...he hoped. It had been a while since his older brother had contacted him. But he knew it was mostly because he was constantly on the move due to his youthful appearance. After all, people got suspicious when you didn't start looking a day over eighteen after a few years. And he had to admit, it was hard at times seeing your older brother look significantly younger than you.
His thoughts were interrupted as the waitress came back with his order. "Thank you," he said politely. "You're welcome," she responded before moving on to the next table. Then, he began eating as he glanced around, checking the entrances and exits, a habit he had picked up while in the Police Academy. If he needed to make a fast getaway, it was always best to find the closest way out...especially in a town that was supposedly filled with vampires. Not that he had anything against vampires, mind you. How could he when his own brother was one? It was because of Mick that he had decided to study this world---to know what all he faced in order to survive. Jesse mentally shook these thoughts off as he focused on eating his meal. He may have come to this town to check out the rumors about vampires, but it didn't mean that he had to think about them twenty-four seven. And he could afford to turn the cop part of himself off for a little bit as it probably wouldn't kill him, but it was somewhat hard to do that. He was just so used to focusing on his surroundings and making sure that he didn't get blindsided that it didn't feel natural to just sit back and relax like anyone else would do. Word Count:594

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - She looked in the mirror and glared at the reflection peering back at her. There were very few times that she actually dressed like someone like her should. She usually was one to wear bright vibrant colors, liking the attention she got when she stood out whether she should or not. However meeting someone who was delivering blood bags to her was a different story and as such as she had to make sure that she blended in as well as possible. Unfortunately she was not at all a happy camper about doing so as it made her look…well…like a vampire.
Looking at the reflection she took in exactly who was looking back at her. Gone were the hot pink dresses or vampire t-shirts, and in their place was a black and white long sleeved dress that was form fitting, and a pair of knee high black boots. She knew that she would have probably been better wearing an all black dress but she felt as if she was going to funeral in it and refused. Her hair was down and curly, something that irked her to no end since she had to make sure it laid perfect rather than just throwing it up into a pony tail or a braid. The only accessory she wore was her daylight ring that she was given by the Powers that Be. And gone was her normal messenger back and in its place was a laced black clutch purse that held her credit cards, cash, cell phone and keys.
All in all she knew realistically she looked good, but that didn’t mean that she was happy with her appearance. She briefly thought about putting in some crazy wild earrings but figured it wasn’t worth the hassle so decided against it, though it was a tough call to make. Walking down the stairs she shot a glare at Elena who opened her mouth to she was sure give a comment about the much more formal attire that her friend had on but one glare shut her up. “I have to run an errand. I’ll be back later. You are not allowed to leave since I am technically your body guard today.” Was all she said before heading out the door and into her car that she had just recently purchased.
It didn’t take her long to make it to the Virginia airport which was good since her contact was early. The two made the exchange and then that was it. She thought about heading directly back to Elena’s but figured she would be fine for a little bit longer and instead made her way towards the grill, wanting a drink before going back and babysitting. She loved hanging out with Elena but she knew the young brunette wasn’t happy at the moment and she really didn’t want to say anything wrong…especially with the mood she was in thanks to her drunken ramblings to Damon the night before.
She walked into the grill and made her way towards the bar, sitting down and ordering a margarita. Okay, granted, it was early, but when someone needed a drink they needed a drink. At least that was what she was telling herself.

------------------------- ------------------------- Jesse continued to eat his burger, trying to relax. But it was hard. He had trained himself to always be alert---especially in new surroundings such as this. He had just arrived in Mystic Falls and to be honest, he couldn't wait to explore the town. He had always wanted to see parts of the South. There was so much history here---good and bad---and he wanted to learn as much about it as he could. Okay, granted, when he was a kid, he hadn't expected to be come here because of the possibility of vampires, but that was neither here or there. The point was that he was in town now and his job with the Mystic Falls Sheriff's Department would allow him to investigate freely. Not that he would shirk his regular duties of course, but he would definitely make time to do his own search into what was going on in this town.
A few moments later, the waitress came back, stopping at his table. "is everything to your liking?" she questioned. "It's delicious, thank you," he replied. "Do you need anything else?" she checked. "Not at all. Thanks," he responded again. She nodded and then walked to another table, once more leaving Jesse alone with his own thoughts. And really, that was the way he liked it at times like this. When he was trying to get the lay of the land---so to speak---he liked to be alone and make his own observations about things. It was just easier for him to put things in perspective that way. Not that he really had a lot to put in respective here. He had just gotten here. Heck, he had barely unpacked yet. Oh, he had some stuff out but he had been too hungry to get much done, hence the drive here. He hadn't been quite sure what to expect from the place, but from what he had witnessed so far, it seemed to be the place the residents came to unwind and catch up with another. Well, it certainly has a homey feeling to it, he thought to himself. He rather liked it. Even in New York, he had preferred the restaurants that had more of a cozy feeling, rather than a bar. If he was going to sit down and eat, he wanted to do it in a place where he could hear himself think, not be surrounded by a bunch of people talking loudly because they were three sheets to the wind.
Speaking of people...there was a very gorgeous woman walking in. Jesse stared at the black and white outfit for a minute, and then looked at the woman. She seemed overdressed for this place, but maybe she was one of the socialites of the town, which would explain her clothing style. Man, she's a knockout, he thought to himself as he watched her walk up to the bar and order a drink. He was too far away to see what she had ordered, but then again, it was none of his business. She had probably come here to unwind just like he had. Therefore, he wouldn't bother her by staring or trying to approach her. With that, he returned his attention to his own meal and took a bite of his burger. After a few bites of his burger, he went to grab his Coke. However, instead of grabbing the glass as he had intended, he hit it, causing it to tip over and spill over the table. "Oh, son of a---" he exclaimed and then caught himself before he could finish his sentence. The last thing he needed was to sound like he had an anger problem before he even started his first day on the job. Great, Jesse. Real smooth, he berated himself as he took some napkins from its holder and started mopping up the mess. What a way to start out in a new town. Well, at least he hadn't started work yet. He could only imagine what kind of ridicule this would get him if it had happened while in uniform... Word Count: 668

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The blonde vampire fiddled with her daylight ring as she waited for the bartender to bring her a drink. She could feel eyes on her but she ignored it as this was something she had gotten used to a long time ago. She wasn’t trying to sound as if she was cocky (she was, but she wasn’t trying to sound it at the moment) but she knew she was a beautiful woman. The whole ‘blonde hair, blue eyed, big chest’ thing was something that a lot of men thrived for so she had gotten used to it, so the stairs and whispers no longer affected her.
Before long the bartender had brought her the margarita she requested and she smiled gratefully, taking a sip before setting the glass down to reach for her phone that was currently buzzing in her clutch. It was a text message from Elena stating that she had already left the house to go and talk to Damon. Lexi bit her lip so that she would keep the curses at bay since she really didn’t want to hear whatever Damon told Elena later on. She had text messaged the doppelganger earlier telling her that she needed to keep her away from Damon when she was drinking but didn’t tell her why. She probably should have done that before letting her go over there.
Lexi rolled her eyes at herself before taking another sip of her drink before sending her a text message back telling her to be careful. She didn’t think Stefan would physically harm the woman since no matter what he said she knew that he still loved her but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t mean that he wouldn’t cause some emotional damage which if you asked her was worse than anything physical that someone could do. Lexi had watched Elena fight for Stefan more than once and while she got nowhere, the blonde couldn’t be prouder of the younger woman for standing up for what she believed in.
The two had a plan, one that they had discussed and while she knew that Damon would flip his lid over it, she also knew it was likely the only way to get Stefan to come back. She’d try other methods first but she had been around long enough to know that Stefan was a stubborn individual when he wasn’t in his ‘ripper’ stage, when he was he was ten times worse.
A noise broke her out of her thoughts and she turned around, wincing in sympathy as she watched a man try to clean up the forming mess on the table. She quickly leaned over the bar and grabbed a few more napkins before making her way over to him. “Need some help?” She asked with a raise of her dark eyebrow. The man in question was cute in an almost boyish way, and he had an air of innocence about him yet he also seemed knowledgeable, something that was rare in men. She could tell that he was human from the beating of his heart but that was all she knew. “I tend to knock things over all the time so I figured I would lend a hand.”

------------------------- ------------------------- This was great. Just awesome. What a way to make a first impression. This was not what he had had in mind for an introduction. But at least it didn't appear that anyone from the sheriff's department was here. This is great, Jesse. Real smooth, he thought to himself. He could just imagine his brother's or some of his friends' reaction to this. There would be some ribbing and joking, but they would ultimately help him...maybe. It depended on what kind of a mood they were in and how much fun they were having at his expense. And honestly, he wouldn't have blamed them for it at the moment. How could he have done something so stupid? Why hadn't he been paying attention? Oh well. No use crying over spilled Cola to paraphrase an old saying. Not that he would ever cry over accidentally spilling a drink, but as the saying indicated, he wasn't going to sweat the small stuff. Which you know, was always a good thing. As he got some more napkins to mop up the mess, he saw the woman he noticed earlier coming over to his table with some more napkins and asking if he needed any help. "That'd be appreciated, thanks," he responded. When she said that she thought she'd lend a hand as she had a habit of knocking things down herself, he laughed a bit. Good to see that I"m not the only one that this happens to, he thought to himself, though it kind of sucked that he had drawn attention to himself with the action. "Yeah, it's a drag isn't it? I'm usually a bit more smooth than this. Guess I just wasn't paying attention," he stated. And that was something that could be dangerous if it happened at the wrong time. Like chasing down a suspect for example. But he wasn't chasing down a suspect, he was cleaning up a mess that he had made and if a spilled drink was the worst consequence of his inattentiveness, Jesse supposed that he could live with that. Then he looked her over once more, noticing how her black and white outfit hugged her in all the right places. Wow. She's even more gorgeous close up, he thought to himself. Then he gave himself a mental shake. What was he doing? He wasn't here to meet anyone. He had come here to think and unwind. That's what he had to focus on. But he had to admit, this woman was making it very hard. After several minutes, the table was cleaned off and the waitress had come by with another coke, obviously seeing what had happened. Okay, mental note: give her a good tip, he thought to himself. She had been friendly, prompt, and she hadn't even made a fuss about having to replace the drink, which was pretty cool of her if you asked him. Not that anyone would, but still... "Thanks for the help," he said. "I'm Jesse, by the way," he introduced himself, holding out a hand. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - She could tell the man was embarrassed which she would admit had she been anyone else she probably would have been too. However knowing her and the way that she dealt with things she would have stood up and bowed, asking for an applause or something similar. That was just the way that she was…it was the way that she had always been. Not many things truly bothered the older blonde vampire, which was a good thing considering the company she usually kept. She wouldn’t get half the amount of things accomplished as she had if she let things bother her.
Between Stefan, who became a complete asshole when he was imbibing on human blood, Damon, who was an asshole all the time, losing every one of her family members whether from a vampire or age, plus dealing with just random things, she would have lost it or become a savage a long time before she had even met Damon and Stefan had she let things get to her the way that a lot of others did. She wondered why more humans didn’t get ulcers from the amount of stress they put on themselves but banished the thought before she could get stuck on it for too long.
She leaned in, making sure she kept the white of her dress away from the spilled soda. Not that it would matter since she could easily make it back to either the Gilbert house or the Salvatore boarding house, both of which she had clothing at, and back before anyone really noticed that she was gone but she really didn’t want to have to do that. She didn’t want to have to bust in on Elena and Damon talking, she didn’t want to have to argue with Stefan and she didn’t want to interrupt Jeremy since she assumed as soon as Elena left he took Bonnie over to their place.
She looked around for an empty glass, finding one and quickly scooping up the spilled ice that she knew would melt and cause more of a mess. “Hey we can’t be slick all day long every day.” She told him with a laugh. “I mean really, have you ever seen a girl trying on a new pair of heels? It is never graceful or perfect, that takes a lot of practice.” She stated, her eyes glinting at the joke that only another woman would get which made it all the funnier.
The blonde waved off his thanks, sliding into the booth across from him. She knew she was making herself comfortable but that was who she was, she never bothered to ask, she just did. If he wanted her to leave he could tell her. "No problem. Always happy to lend a hand...or a napkin as the case may be." She told him with a laugh before slipping her hand into his. "Nice to meet you Jesse, I'm Lexi." She introduced.
"So, now that we are acquainted all, what brings you to Mystic Falls?" She asked, noticing that he seemed a bit lost and out of place. Not because he seemed awkward but because since she had been there no one had come up and said hello or anything, and in a small town that meant one thing, outsider.

-------------------------- -------------------------- "Again, thanks for the help. It was really appreciated," he told her. Jesse didn't mind admitting that he was grateful for the help. Not a lot of people did that these days. But this woman had. She had even made a bit of a joke out of it, saying everyone couldn't be slick every moment of every day as well as something about seeing a woman in high heels for the first time. Jesse laughed politely, though he didn't get the joke. He appreciated the effort though. Which was why he laughed when he did. He could sense that it was supposed to be a joke. It wasn't her fault that he didn't get it. "You're right, we can't be slick every moment of every day. I think our lives would be boring if that were possible," he said. And plus, I wouldn't have gotten a chance to meet you, he added to himself. He wasn't going to deny that he found her gorgeous, though he wasn't one to just randomly start flirting with a woman he didn't even know. For one thing, she probably already had a boyfriend, and for another, it just wasn't his way. Oh sure, if flirting started, he could dish it back out, but he generally preferred to know someone better before he started flirting with them so that there was a less of a chance of him accidentally offending them somehow, though he had a feeling that the woman before him didn't tend to offend easily. Which was always good as it meant that he didn't have to worry about her walking off in a huff, or worse slugging him. Yeah, she may be dressed like a high society girl, but she also looked like someone who could land a good punch.
He then watched as she dimissed his thanks as she slid into the booth across from him, saying that it was nice to meet him and introducing herself as Lexi. She's got spunk, he thought to himself, which was what he actually preferred in people. To him, being who you were and doing something without worrying about what people thought of you---within reason of course---was a big turn on. Not that he saw him growing interested in her that way. Heck, they had just barely met. However, he had a feeling that it would make any conversation they had quite interesting. "Likewise Lexi," he responded, as he returned to his seat.
Ah, of course. The big question: what was he doing in Mystic Falls? Now if Lexi had been one of the few people in his life that knew about Mick or the Supernatural, he would simply tell her that he had heard some whispers of strange stuff happening in Mystic Falls and had requested a transfer so that he could check it out. However, she didn't know about Mick and she probably didn't know about the Supernatural world either. So, he would have to wing it a bit. "I transferred in from the NYPD. i was getting a bit overwhelmed by everything I was seeing day in and day out and I put in a transfer before I burned out. Figured a small town would be a nice change of scenery," he responded. "What about you? Have you lived here all your life?" he questioned. Interrogation 101: don't divulge more than you absolutely had to: let the perp do all the talking. Not that Lexi was a perp by any means. Man, I really gotta get outta cop mode, he thought to himself. Which you know, easier said than done...

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - “No worries.” She told him with a smile. It was true, she remembered more than her fair share of slips and falls, even as a human. She had read most vampire books out there and most said that a vampire lost their memories as humans once they were turned. Even though some said that they were only fuzzy, either way the rumor was a lie. She remembered all the details of her human life just as well as a human would while growing up. No she didn’t remember her first tooth coming in or anything but she did remember her first best friend, first day of school, all those types of things.
Well, school not so much since she was raised in a time where women didn’t go to school, they were brought up to become home makers, wives and mothers…but either way it remained the same. So she easily remembered scrapes and bruises that she had gotten from being a clumsy child. She remembered the tongue lashing she had received due to spilling and breaking a jug full of water…her father had been extremely displeased with her. She understood why but it was something she had never forgotten…nor did she think she ever would.
It didn’t surprise her that he didn’t get the joke about women in heels, not many men would. She thought for a moment before conceding that Stefan probably would but that was because his best friend was a girl, I.E. her, meaning that she had dragged him shopping more than a few times and he had seen her wipe out on some crazy high heels just for the fun of it. She was also sure that he had seen more than his fair share of drunken girls falling down from running from him but that was another story all together.
She waited for him to collect his thoughts which told her right there that there was something different about this man. She could tell he was human, that much was clear; however she had a slight feeling that he knew more than he let on. It wasn’t that he said anything or did anything, but more the way that he looked around subtly, almost seeing if he could see the town’s darker secrets. Then again, maybe she was losing her mind, which was definitely something that could be the case since she was three and hundred and fifty years old. How many women wouldn’t go nuts after being surrounded by people all that time?
She couldn’t help but let out a small laugh when he asked if she had lived here all of her life. “Definitely not, I travel a lot. However a few of my good friends were born and raised here.” She told him, obviously keeping out the fact that most of them hadn’t actually lived here all of their lives, though they had been born and raised in the small town. “So I was here visiting and then just decided to stick around for awhile to catch up with them. I’ve come around quite a bit though so I know a lot of people around here which makes me moving here, at least for the time being, easier. So why’d you decide to move other than the scenery?” She asked curiously, waiting to see what exactly his motive was.

-------------------------- -------------------------- Jesse grinned as Lexi told him not to worry about the slip up, which he was grateful for as most people would've harped on it, giving him a hard time. Not that Jesse wasn't able to laugh at himself, because he was, he just believed that there was only a certain amount of time a person could continue the mirth before it became rude. But Lexi didn't seem the type to go that far...which he was grateful for. It made the incident seem like no big deal, which was what it was: no big deal. It would've been a lot worse if he had made a bigger mess, but luckily he hadn't. As he answered her question about why he had moved to Mystic Falls, the man could tell from her expression that she was studying him as well, most likely trying to figure him out. Not that he could blame her for her curiosity. His cop tendencies had a habit of rubbing off of him in other areas of his life, including meeting new people, no matter how hard he tried to relax and be in the moment. After all, it was pretty hard to carry yourself in one way when you were used to acting another. Maybe it was the cop thing, maybe it wasn't, Jesse wasn't really sure. But then again, he supposed it didn't really matter as long as he wasn't making her feel like she was being interrogated. To his surprise, she laughed at his question of whether or not she had lived in Mystic Falls her whole life. I wonder why that's funny, he mused. Oh, well. He'd probably find out pretty soon. He then nodded as she explained that she traveled a lot, but that she had a few close friends that lived in town and that she had decided to stay awhile while she had been visiting them and having her friends here made moving easier. "That makes sense. Especially if you haven't seen them in a while," he stated. And it did. He knew that when he was visiting friends, he liked to spend as much time with them as he could. And if it was a nice town---like Mystic Falls tried to be---why not move somewhere you'd be comfortable with? Then she turned the conversation back to him, asking why he had moved to Mystic Falls besides the scenery. "Was tired of the hustle and bustle of the city and just wanted a nice quiet place to do my job," he answered with a shrug. Well, it wasn't a total lie. He had been getting tired of New York. But he couldn't very well tell Lexi that he had heard about the influx of vampires here. She'd probably think he was crazy or something. Or she could be compelled to reveal everything he told her. No, Lexi was safer if she didn't know the truth. Well, in theory anyways... Word Count:491 Outfit: Described in first thread Tag: Lexi Note: If she only knew, lol! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - She shrugged, trying not to laugh again. “My best friend and I usually only see each other once a year and that’s for his birthday. He’s that quiet brooding type who thinks world hunger and every other thing that possibly goes wrong in the world is his fault…I’m sure you know the type. Anyway because of that I make it my mission in life, or at least on that week or weekend, whatever his birthday falls on, to drag him out of his shell and force him to come out of his shell. He usually hates me for it in the beginning but he loves me so it all works out.” She stated with a shrug, though internally she was berating her best friend at the moment for going insane on not only his friends, his town, but his girlfriend as well.
Damn Damon for getting bit by a werewolf, Damn Tyler for biting Damon, and of course Damn Klaus for existing. Though she had a feeling that she could easily say ‘Damn Klaus’ for just about anything but still.
Before she could say anything else the waiter walked up and asked her what she wanted to drink. She quickly ordered a soda, forgoing the alcohol that she usually drank only because she had too much to do later on and didn’t really feel like doing it drunk. Well, not that it wouldn’t be fun to run around like a chicken with her head cut off drunk but been there done that, she needed to be level headed when she went to look for information on Klaus…and of course the moronic Salvatore brothers who apparently were both determined to send her to an early…er…wait. Not an early grave. Well, they were determined to drive her insane.
Not that she wasn’t already insane but that was completely and utterly besides the point in Lexi’s mind.
She smiled in thanks when the waiter, one of the few that she didn’t know, brought her back her drink and she waited until he walked away before turning her attention back to Jesse as he spoke about being sick of the craziness of the big city. “I remember those days. I spent a lot of time in New York and Los Angeles and got sick of the city life, so coming here to visit my friend seemed to be the best alternative rather than meeting him somewhere like usual.” She stated before taking a sip, groaning when she tasted it.
She had taken a page out of Stefan, Damon and Katherine’s books and started ingesting vervain a little each day after Elena told her about It, which meant the laced soda didn’t harm her, but she could still taste it and she could still feel the familiar burn against her throat. She looked around and saw Jeremy smirking at her as he walked by. She took her napkin, balled it up and threw it at him with enough precision so that it hit him directly on the ass. “You’re an asshole Jer.” She told him with a laugh before turning back to Jesse. “Sorry about that.” She told him, knowing that she would easily be able to tell if he knew anything about this town by what the next few moments into the conversation.
Word Count:: 602 Tag:: Jesse Murdoch Outfit:: Click here for Lexi’s Outfit Note:: I figure if you want he can ask her what happened and she casually mention vervain. Lol. That is if you want Lexi to know that he knows about vampires. It would be interesting at least. Up to you. Lol

-------------------------- -------------------------- Jesse laughed as Lexi stated that she and her best friend usually once saw each other on his birthday, and she was able to pull him out of his shell---as he tended to brood and think everything bad that happened was his fault---something that he usually hated at the beginning, but he loved her anyway, so it all worked out. "Yeah, I've got some friends like that," he stated. There had been some kids he had grown up with who tended to view the world's problems as their own even though a lot of the times it was something completely out of their control. To tell the truth, it was a bit annoying, but hey, what could a person do? Well, Lexi seemed to have the right idea in getting the guy to loosen up a bit. "It can be a bit of a drag dealing with someone who has that mindset, but you seem to have the right idea in getting him to loosen up," he added. He then nodded as she seemed to agree with his assessment of city life, saying that she had spent a lot of time in New York and Los Angeles but had grown tired of the city and chosen to move to Mystic Falls. "I get that. Grew up in Queens, New York. It could get kind of crazy," he noted. It had had its share of crime and maybe it wasn't always the best of places to live or work, but at the same time it was his home and he still thought of it fondly. As he was talking, a waitress had come by and Lexi had ordered a coke which was brought back shortly. Almost as soon as Lexi got the coke, she took a drink and then immediately groaned. What? Is she a---? his thought trailed off as he leaned forward. The only thing that he could think of that would affect a person like that would be Vervain. He had seen the affects once when Mick had accidentally ingested a soda of his when he had learned through his own research that it could be added to food and drink. He watched as the girl turned to someone whom she called "Jer" and told him that he was an asshole as she threw a balled up napkin at him. He followed the gaze to see a young boy about sixteen with brown hair and the boy smirked at Lexi. Okay, they obviously know each other, so if she is a vampire, he probably knows, he thought to himself. But what if he was wrong? What if the kid had just pulled a prank like putting salt in the soda or something? That was what one of his buddies had done to him once. And then he had kicked his ass and made him pay for a new drink. Well, there was one way to find out. "So, how much Vervain's in there?" he asked quietly. If he was wrong, he didn't want to create a scene, and if he was right, well...far be it for him to expose a vampire who was living in secret if they hadn't hurt anyone. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Her face did not change as he mentioned vervain, she simply smiled and laughed a bit. “Quite a bit surprisingly enough. I think even a human could taste it. Then again I do have sensitive taste buds so who knows.” She stated before shrugging, waiting for Jeremy to bring her another soda. Sorry Lex, I thought it was funny. She rolled her eyes. “Yeah yeah, so they all say. Just remember I know where you sleep at night. You may wake up tomorrow with pink hair…or a shaved head. Doubt Bonnie would care for either one of those looks buddy boy.” She stated with a laugh before waving as he walked away to finish his shift.
“I wondered if you had known about certain aspects of this town.” She told him, taking a sip of her soda with a happy smile. It was clear that she was not threatened nor was she a danger, though she doubted he knew that she wasn’t a danger. “My question is how. And don’t worry, I’ll know if anyone around here is trying to listen to our conversation.” She stated as she tapped her hear, clearly showing she was watching and listening to everyone very carefully. She knew better than anyone how easy it was for people in this town to spread rumors.
“And before you ask, yes I’ve been one for quite a long time. I’m a lot older than I look.” She told him with a wink. “And yes, my friend who I was visiting is one as well, and no he’s not as old as I am.” She knew she was probably telling him more than he cared to admit that he wanted to know but she figured answering his questions before he asked them would make it easier for him to tell her things that she wanted to know. She was curious about him as she could hear his heart beat and his scent told her that he was human…so how he knew about vampires was something that she was intrigued about.
She noticed the cuff on his arm and reached out gently to touch it, smiling before moving her hand back. “I’m assuming whoever told you about…well you know…also was the one to give you the vervain?” She asked, curious again and curiosity was not something that Lexi dealt with well. She was patient as all get out when she needed something but if she didn’t know something and wanted to, it drove her mad. She remembered bugging Stefan for three weeks one time about twenty years or so before hand about what he had gotten her for Christmas. It wasn’t even a big deal but she hated not knowing things.
“And just FYI, I’m not going to hurt you so anything you tell me, I promise it won’t be used against you. If you can believe it, I’m one of the good guys. And I don’t deal well with people who are the bad ones. So tell me what’s your story and then if you want I’ll tell you mine.”

-------------------------- -------------------------- If Lexi was surprised about his knowledge of Vervain, she didn't show it. She just smiled and said that there was plenty of it in the soda, adding that a human could probably taste it even though her taste buds were sensitive. Yeah, I bet, he thought to himself. To him, Vervain didn't have much of a taste, but to a vampire, it probably tasted like acid or something. Not that he had ever tasted acid himself... "Well, you don't seem to be affected by it all that much," he noted. She had groaned when she had tasted it, but it hadn't knocked her out. Was she immune to it to a certain extent? That would be interesting: a vampire who was immune to Vervain. I wonder how that would be possible, he thought to himself. He then waited as her coke was replaced and he chuckled at the banter. "I take it you two are friends?" he queried, somewhat rhetorically. After all, she probably would've been more angry if they weren't friends or at least tolerated one another. Still, spiking a vampire's drink with Vervain was kind of harsh in his opinion. Then again, most people didn't have a vampire for an older brother, so he supposed it made sense that he would be more sympathetic to the creatures. He watched as she took a sip of her new soda, telling him that she had wondered if he knew about certain aspects of Mystic Falls and how he would know, adding that he didn't have to worrry about anyone overhearing as she'd be able to tell if anyone was listening to their conversation. "I found out about vampires when I was sixteen. Talk about a wake up call," he said with a shrug. Boy was that ever the truth. It wasn't every night that you witnessed your brother being murdered by his girlfriend and then coming back to life. Needless to say, both he and Mick had been sufficiently freaked out. But they had stuck together and had managed to come to grips with the changes in the older boy's life---the main ones being that he couldn't walk around in the day anymore and Jesse eventually grew older than him. Talk about strange... He then shook this thought off as Lexi began talking again, winking and saying that she had been a vampire for a long time, as had her friend whom she had been visiting, though not quite as long as her. "Is that why you're not affected by Vervain all that much? A senority type of thing?" he asked. He had thought that Vervain affected all vampires the same way. That's what his research had told him. But maybe his research had been wrong. It wasn't like he had anyone to ask about it. Not htat he would automatically ask the first person he came across. He had Mick to think about and he would do anything and everything he could to protect him. She reached out towards his wrist cuff, but stopped short of touching it, saying that she assumed that whoever had told him about vampires had made the Vervain cuff for him. "Not exactly. I had a friend that was good at arts and crafts and asked him to make it for me, saying I thought it'd be a cool design," he responded. Okay, so maybe it was a lame excuse but Chris had bought it and like he said, the guy was pretty good at arts and crafts and often made some pretty funky stuff, though it was more of a hobby for him. Ironically enough, the guy was now a businessman working in an office in a nine-to-five job. Jesse then nodded as Lexi assured him that she wouldn't hurt him or use anything he told her against him, saying that she was one of the good vampires and didn't deal well with bad vampires and then indicated interest in his story. Should I trust her? We've just met and for all I know she's playing me, he thought to himself. What if this was all an act? When Mick's humanity was off, it had taken him a little bit to realize it. Then again, that was mostly because he had been glad and relieved to see his brother. With Lexi, there were no emotional attachments. He then made a decision. He'd trust her and if she ended up betraying that trust, well...he wasn't quite sure what he'd do in retaliation, but it wouldn't be pretty. Well, she askd for it. Doubt she's ever heard this one, he thought to himself. "Well, like I said, I found out about vampires when I was sixteen. My older brother was dating this girl---Sandra---who only came around at night and his whole demeanor had changed: he became completely wrapped up in her and started to blow us off. After a while, I got concerned, followed them, and watched as she killed him, he came back, and she made him turn before taking off," he replied, bitterness creeping into his voice. Man, how he hated Sandra. If he ever came across her again, he'd kill her himself. Well, at least he'd try. He probably wouldn't be able to as he was only human and she was infinitely faster than him, but yeah, he would love to make the bitch pay for what she did to Mick. He then mentally shook the thought away. He couldn't dwell on that. He couldn't let his rage or bitterness consume him. It was a weakness that could be exploited and he wasn't about to let that happen. "So, what about you? How were you turned?" he asked softly. He couldn't deny that he was curious as to what her story was. It wasn't like he knew very many vampires. In fact, he only knew one and that was his brother. I wonder if her story's anything like Mick's, he mused. He hoped not. That was a sucky way to get turned and he wouldn't wish it on anyone else, not even his worst enemy. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - She laughed when he commented on the vervain not affecting her. “Honey, I’m a lot older than I look…and being as old as I am I’ve learned how to adapt pretty well to all things.” She stated, pushing her hair back with a flick of her wrist. She wouldn’t give out the information that she had learned via Stefan and Damon thanks to Katherine as it would not be good for all vampires to have that kind of information. She did not want vervain to become a thing of the past as it was one of the only things that a human could do to protect oneself.
Granted, vervain still allowed a human to keep from being compelled, ingesting vervain didn’t stop that from working, but should a human be cornered and know about vampires, a vervain dart was the only thing that could essentially get them away from said vampire before they were made into a meal. Lexi may be a vampire and while she didn’t subscribe to Stefan’s animal diet that did not mean that she killed humans. She had a few that she knew who liked to be bitten so if she was in their neck of the woods (pun totally intended) she would feed from them, but she had mastered her control a long time ago which meant that she could feed from a person and not hurt or kill them. Hell it was usually quite pleasurable for both of them.
However for the most part she fed on blood bags, just as she would attempt to get Stefan to do…you know…once she got him back from his latest moron binge though this time it would be more difficult as Damon was in tow. She missed both Salvatore brothers more than she cared to admit to even herself. However that didn’t mean that anything would stop her from kicking both of their asses until they either found their humanity, god, or the devil himself.
“As for Jer and I, yeah we are friends. Well, sort of. His sister is dating my best friend so she and I became fairly close which means Jeremy just sort of tolerates me. He’s not too huge of fan of my kind so to speak but if I had to guess I’d say that I was his favorite of my kind since the others tend to get on his nerves quite a bit.” She told him though internally she had to laugh. Granted everything she said was true but Damon, Stefan, Katherine, Isobel, Klaus, Rebekah and all the other vampires he had met getting on Jeremy’s nerves was the understatement of the century in her honest opinion.
“Let’s just say that I hear things through the undead grapevine and leave it at that. No, as one gets older it does not mean that their tolerance for vervain gets more and more. It has nothing to do with age though me knowing what I do does have to do with how long I’ve been around and how many friends I’ve made over the years. However like I said, no matter how old one gets it doesn’t mean that anything changes other than their strength. Vervain still affects everyone the same way. Unless you know the secret.” She told him with a wink, though it was clear in her speech that she would not be revealing said secret unless she trusted someone and while she liked Jesse that did not mean that she trusted him, especially with a secret as pivotal as this. She would protect her own, and by that she meant Stefan, Damon, Elena, Jeremy, Noah, and anyone else that they cared about, before she revealed secrets to someone she had just met.
She listened as he spoke about how he found out about vampires and her eyes softened in compassion. Watching your brother being turned could not have been easy. “Wait, so how did he not kill you? I mean most vampires when around humans for the first time after being turned cannot help themselves, then again I’ve seen crazier things.” She stated, though wanted to know his interpretation on the subject. It was most likely due to their brotherly connection which made more sense than anything else. She knew that Jeremy had been around a vampire, Vickie, when she had been in transition and she had run away instead of harming him. So it definitely could be done it just wasn’t easy…though she assumed that because Jesse was his brother that it was made easier. Then again maybe he did harm him, she didn’t know.
“My story isn’t all that interesting.” She told him modestly, which was saying something for Lexi. “I was turned by a man named James. He was relatively new and didn’t realize that compulsion didn’t work if it was used on a human and then they were turned. He compelled me to love him and then turned me, assuming I would be his mate. However what he didn’t realize was that as soon as I was in transition I started remembering things, such as the fact that he compelled me. I grew up in a time when the legends of those who walked the night were not just legends, but they were believed. So I knew how to rid the world of one. I pretended not to know what he had done for one night, and then I lit him on fire. He never saw it coming until the first bit of heat hit him.” She told him with a roll of her eyes, okay so even then she was a bit more dramatic than most.
“Unfortunately that led to me being alone so I had to learn how to do things my own way, which is probably a good thing but then again if you ask some of my friends they’d probably tell you I should have had someone who could kick my butt back then since I tended to make my own rules…still do actually.” She replied before taking another sip of her soda. “So where’s your brother now?” She asked curiously, briefly wondering if he had come to Virginia with him or if they had split ways.

-------------------------- -------------------------- Jesse nodded as Lexi stated that she was older than she looked and because of that, she learned that because of her age, she had learned to adapt, which made sense. Mick's probably gonna have to learn how to do that pretty soon himself, he thought. Then again, he probably already had seeing as how he had been physically eighteen for a while now. Even now he still thought it was weird to have his older brother looking significantly younger than him. But at least he still had him in his life...sort of...it wasn't like they could really stay in contact all that much since he was constantly on the move. But Mick always made sure to shoot him an e-mail or send him a letter or call him just to let him know that he was alive. Speaking of which, he needed to contact him to let him know that he had moved. He didn't want his brother to worry about him. And besides, he was due to make contact with him anyways. With that, he made a mental note to send his brother some form of communication later that night. He then mentally shook off these thoughts and listened as Lexi explained that the boy---Jeremy---tolerated her because his sister was dating her best friend. Yeah, okay, I can see how they would tolerate but not really like one another. And the kid's probably just trying to look out for his sister, he thought to himself. Vampires were predators with humans being their prey, so a friendship between the two would be pretty rare. At least, that's the way he viewed it, though he could be wrong. After all, what did he really know about vampires and things except for the research he had done? It wasn't like he and Mick had had an instruction manual for this. But at least they had managed. Not that it had been easy mind you, because it hadn't. There were some slip ups here and there, but in the end it had all worked out pretty well. So, yeah, he tolerated other vampires, though he was only protective of Mick. But that wasn't the point here. The point was that he had thought that it had made sense that Lexi and Jeremy would tolerate one another, but not necessarily like each other as it would make sense for Jeremy to be wary of Stefan's motives. Heck, he had probably been wary of the guy before he had known he was a vampire. It was only natural. He then made an attentive noise as she explained that she had heard things through the grapevine and that Vervain affected all vampires the same way no matter how long they had been around. "Aww, that kind of sucks. I bet it would've been cool to finally be free from it's effects," he said. But maybe that was just him. Then again, would he really want to come up against a vampire who wasn't hurt by Vervain? Man, I can only imagine the damage that would happen, he thought to himself. Ah, the question of how his brother hadn't killed him. To be honest, he was surprised it had taken her this long to ask it. And she was right. It was hard for a vampire to control their natural urge for the blood, something that she commented on it, wondering if it was because they were brothers. Huh. I wonder if that's why, he mused to himself. But could a brotherly bond really help someone fight their natural craving for blood? "To be honest, I think it was more because he was freaked out. I mean, he was so in love with her and then she did that to him," he answered, unable to keep the bitterness out of his voice. Okay, yeah he had to tone it down somewhat. It wasn't like he had anything against vampires in general. Just Sandra. "As for your question, I'm sure he did wanna drain me dry. But we were---very close---as kids and I guess that connection helped somewhat, but I'm not really sure," he answered with a shrug. He supposed it could've been that. Not that it had been easy for them. For one thing, they had had no idea what was happening, and Mick had attacked him---which had been pretty scary---but fortunately he hadn't succeeded in majorly hurting him. And after they had figured out what had happened to the older boy, they had worked out a system, which had included Mick feeding from him...not that anyone would ever see the scars. His Vervain cuff covered the evidence so that no one could get suspicious, something he was grateful for. He just didn't want to have to explain something like that and he'd never forgive himself if his brother was placed in danger because of him. He then listened as Lexi began to tell him her story, stating that her story wasn't all that interesting and explaining that she had been turned by a man who had compelled her love and then turned her expecting her to become her mate, but living in a time where stories of vampires were believed rather than just being legends, she had pretended not to remember what he had done and then had set him on fire, which had left her alone. "Well, that's one way to take care of a guy. Would love to do that to Sandra," he said with some bitterness. "Sorry. There's not a whole lot of love for her as far as I'm concerned," he apologized. It wasn't fair of him to project his anger of the woman who turned his brother at someone he had just met. Besides, from what she was saying, she probably would've done the same thing to Sandra as she had done to the guy who had turned her. Which, you know, wouldn't be all that bad in his opinion. He grimaced when she said that her decision had left her alone and that she had to learn how to do things on her own, which she said was good for the most part, but added that some of her friends probably thought that she could've used someone to kick her butt back then as she had tended to make her own rules back then and still did sometimes. Alone. Mick was alone. He hated that thought. But it was necessary for his survival. He couldn't let anyone find out that he was a vampire, so he always had to move around. When she asked him where Mick was, he shrugged. "I...don't know. The last time I heard from him, he had just moved to Missouri. I think he's still there. He has to move around a lot because he looks like he's eighteen. Can't even imagine how hard that must be for him," he said softly. It had to suck for him. It really had to suck...
