Allen Francis Doyle sacrificed himself to save Cordelia, Angel, and the half breeds and he had left his visions to Cordelia since he loved her and knew the strength she had inside of her Cordelia and Doyle had never had a chance to test out their relationship as Doyle said to Cordelia, Too bad we'll never know...if this is a face you could learn to love. The two had fallen in love rapidly and if he hadn't died they probably would have made it to the finish line. The two never had a chance to really test out their love. If Doyle were to come back then a lot of things would be changed and Cordelia would probably have that wall up just because it had been so long and she'd be afraid of him dying again but in the end she would give him a chance again and the two can fall in love and be endgame since they are meant to be together!
