-------------------------- -------------------------- Lisa hummed a bit as she moved about the kitchen, making sure that everything was cooking the way that it was supposed to. Even though this wasn't the most ideal of circumstances, Dean was coming over and she couldn't be happier. She had really missed him and it had been great to see him again. She had been so relieved when he had told her he was happy to hear that Ben was his. I'm really glad he didn't hate me for keeping that a secret for so long. He had every right to, she thought to herself. But he had been ecstatic. Now hopefully, Ben would feel the same way. However, she couldn't be sure as he had been acting somewhat odd lately: moody and all.
Realizing that there was nothing left to do, Lisa blew out a breath as she ran her fingers through her hair. Then, she froze and looked at her clothes: an old faded pink t-shirt and dark blue jeans. Oh, my gosh! I'm a total mess! I can't let Dean see me like this! she thought and then raced to her room. Her jeans were fine, but she needed to change her top. She needed to find something nice. She went to her closet and began searching through her tops, trying to find something to wear. Okay, let's see, she thought to herself. She grabbed a green shirt and placed it over her upper body and looked down, trying to see if she liked the way it looked. She wrinkled her nose and then put the shirt back and then grabbed a red shirt, repeating her previous action. Yeah, I like this one better, she determined and quickly changed tops. Then, she headed back to the kitchen and began setting the table.

- - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - Dean was driving his Impala on his way to see his girl. He Couldn’t wait he had missed her so much, even though it was only a few days ago that they saw each other. But to him it seemed like forever that they talked. He hated being away from her he she was like air to him, so when he is not around her its like he cant breathe. She is what keeps him going what makes him feel alive, and since he has saw her he has felt more alive then he has in a long time. Plus things were actually looking up for Dean, Sam was doing better, he had gotten in touch with Castiel, and he found out that he is the one thing he has always wanted to be, A father.
Dean couldn’t lie though he was a bit worried about messing this up, he wanted to be the best dad that he could be to Ben. He didn’t want to be lame and have a bunch of rules, but at the same time he knew that he needed to keep him in line. But one thing was for sure he wasn’t letting Ben get mixed up in this life, a hunter was not something that he wanted for his son ever. So keeping Ben safe from it all was his first goal as being a dad.
Dean was almost there as he was pulling into there neighborhood, he begin to look around as he drove down the streets. He noticed neighbors he had not seen in a long while, and they seemed shocked to see him. He gave a small wave to the few that he did see as he drove down the street, making it to her drive way he parked the car. He got out making his way up to the door. He couldn’t lie a part of him was nervous, He didn’t know how he was going to confront Ben about this. He couldn’t just come right out and say “Hey Ben I’m your dad.” No he needed to take this slow and play this cool. So he put his hand up to the door and begin to knock, waiting to see who would answer, hoping to see the smile of his girl.

-------------------------- -------------------------- Lisa let out a breath as she continued to set the table. She couldn't believe how nervous she was feeling. She had never felt like this with anyone else. She just wanted everything to go right. She knew that this was going to be really hard for them. I mean, how was she supposed to tell Ben that Dean was his father? It wasn't like she could just come right out and blurt it...especially with the way their relationship was these days, but maybe this was just what Ben needed: Dean coming back into their lives and staying...unless he was on a hunt or something. But she could deal with that. She was ready to deal with that now. Something that she hadn't been been ready to do a while back, which was why she had broken up with him. Well, that and she had been corncerned about Ben's safety. But that had been stupid. She knew that Dean would never let anything happen to him. It just wasn't his way.
When the table was finally set, she looked around to see if there was anything else she needed to do. Well, it looks like I have everything ready, she mused. But was it nice enough? She wanted the three of them to sit down, have a nice meal, and then tell Ben that Dean was his father. Not that she expected it to go down perfectly or smoothly, nothing ever did, after all. But she at least wanted things to be as painless for everybody as possible. Because let's face it. This was a delicate situation. And she still hadn't figured out exactly how to tell Ben. What do I do? How am I supposed to explain that I've been been lying to him about his father? she wondered. And that was what was bothering her, that she hadn't told her son the truth about his father. Oh, sure, she had told him that the man was a good man and that they hadn't worked out. But what was she supposed to do now? What was she supposed to say? How was she supposed to explain everything? Would Ben understand her reasoning, or would he hate her for not telling him the truth?
These thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door. He was here. Dean was here. Okay, I gotta calm down, she thought. However, the butterflies in her stomach wouldn't go away. Well, here goes nothing, she thought. Biting her lip, she went to the door and opened it. "Hey, come on in," she invited, moving aside so that he could walk into the home.
OOC I'm not sure if it was okay to NPC Ben so I erred on the side of caution.

- - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - Dean stood there feeling like he had butterfly’s in his stomach he was so nervous , he didn’t know how this was going to go down or how it would turn out. Ben could ether be one of two things, mad for not knowing, or happy to find out Dean in fact was. But what Dean was really stuck and worried about was what he was going to say, how was he going to approach this? Maybe Lisa had a plan she was pretty smart when it came to things like that, she was always good at being a planer. To where Dean was not in anyway shape or form. He was kind of the play it by ear kind of guy.
But that’s why Lisa was always great for Dean, always making sure plans were in place and things were ready, like dinner, chores, and anything else needed to be done. She really was the best girl any guy could ever ask for.
Shortly after he knocked he heard someone call for him to come in, so Dean begin to slow open up the door with hands shaking. He walked in looked around and closed the door behind him. Dean took a moment looking at the house that he once lived in missing it so, he felt like he was home again. “This might have been a bad idea.” Dean said to himself. “I may never want to leave now.” He missed this place and he loved it here, this was like Dean home.
Dean then begin to slow make his way into the kitchen to find Lisa making dinner, she looked great as always. “Hey babe man everything smells great, but then again your cooking always smells good.” he told her. “So what you making?” Dean couldn’t help it he had to ask, but then again he is always been one having a thing for food.

-------------------------- -------------------------- Lisa heard the door open and she smiled. She could hear hear Dean saying something, though she couldn't make out what he was saying. When she heard him come into the kitchen, she turned around and smiled, trying to keep her nerves down. Dean was---he was Dean. She then smiled as he stated that whatever she was cooking smelled good. "Thanks," she said and then blushed as he went on to add that her cooking always smelled good. "Glad you think so," she said.
At his question, she smiled. "Pot roast, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, and corn. And for dessert, apple pie," she responded. And as far as she was corncerned, the apple pie was the most important part of the meal. It was Dean's favorite and she really wanted to make sure that it cooked right, which she was sure it would as she had baked apple pie frequently while Dean was living with them.
She then blew out a breath as she ran her fingers through her hair. She wasn't really sure what else she could say. She stared at him, taking in what he was wearing: a white shirt covered by a white flannel and faded blue jeans along with some rustic red boots. She had always liked this type of an outfit on him. He looked good...sexy. In fact, a part of her wanted to just push him up against the counter and kiss him like there was no tomorrow, but she pushed the urge down. This wasn't about them. This was about telling Ben the truth about Dean. "You're looking really good by the way," she told him. And it was true. He was looking good. "Ben! Come in here! I need to talk to you!" she called. They might as well get everything out in the open now. They had waited long enough and it was time to come clean. --------------------------

He had his headphones on, AC DC playing in his ears as he played the game on his small Nintendo DS. He wasn’t sure why he was even playing it since he could quite easily fall asleep yet something told him to stay awake. Not that it mattered since he was pretty sure all that was going to happen today was his mom would come in and tell him that she had made dinner, they’d eat, she’d ask him if he did his homework, which he would tell her that he had done it during last period at school (it was an art class and he always did his homework in it) and then they’d watch tv together for an hour before going to bed.
Groaning when his player on the game in front of him died he turned it off, figuring he had had enough for one day, it was also quite clear that he was getting nowhere with said game so he figured before he threw the thing against the wall he might as well turn it off. Taking his headphones out of his ears he put both the DS and the iPod on his desk and started up his computer, figuring he would check his e-mail to see if Dave had e-mailed him about going to the batting cages next weekend or not.
Unfortunately before he even had a chance to login he heard his mother’s voice calling him downstairs. He looked at the clock and saw what time it was, squinting in confusion since it was a little early to be eating dinner.
Walking downstairs he started talking before he was in the kitchen. “Hey mom…it’s a little early for…” He trailed off when he saw who else was in the kitchen with his mother. “DEAN!” He said, in a voice that was still in the awkward stages of high and low since he was just starting to go through puberty at 12. Throwing caution to the wind he ran up and gave the older man a hug, taking in the familiar scent of the leather jacket that always seemed to be in the presence of the dark haired man. “What are you doing here?”

- - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - The kitchen smelled great just like how Dean remembered it, he missed Lisa home cook meals so much. He hated having to eat fast food everyday of his life, it wasn’t exactly good for Dean’s figure and being a hunter he needed to stay in shape. But with being on the road all the time what else could he do. “You know I love your cooking baby, no one makes good food like you do. Trust me I know I have tired others home cook meals, and its nothing like my girls cooking.” Dean told her, while going to over to place a kiss on her head.
Everything she was making sounded so good, especially the part about the Apple pie. Lisa knew how much Dean liked pie, it was like a kryptonite of his he couldn’t help but get weak over it. “Baby you made my favorite, thanks you shouldn’t have. But I’m glad you did.” He said giving her a smile. Dean loved that about Lisa always doing everything she can to make him happy. Which she didn’t need to do, just being with her was enough for him.
He smiled when Lisa said that he looked good, which he wasn’t so sure about. He had been having a lot of sleepless nights, so he was sure there were bags under his eyes. But as for Lisa she looked so sexy, Dean couldn’t help but keep his eyes on her. A part of Dean just wanted to take her right now, throw her over his shoulder and take her upstairs. But might not be such a great idea with Ben here, plus that might be rushing things a little to soon.
Not long after Lisa called him Ben he was down into the Kitchen, in shock when he saw Dean standing there. “Hey Ben what’s up Buddy!” He said while opening his arms for a hug. Ben ran towards Dean giving him a big hug, He held him back tightly so happy to see him after all this time. “I’m here because I miss you and your mom so much.” Dean let up giving him a smile. “So how you been? School is going good I hope?” He asked Ben.

-------------------------- -------------------------- Lisa could feel herself starting to blush as Dean told her how much he liked her cooking, adding that he knew because he had had others' home-cooked meals and that they weren't like hers. "My girl". Wow. Those words sounded so good to her ears. She liked being Dean's girl. And she liked that he thought of her as such. When she was younger, she hadn't liked it when guys would call her theirs, feeling that it meant that they were being possessive, but she never felt like that with Dean. When Dean called her his, it was like---oh, she couldn't even really describe it except to say that she felt safe. And yes, she was very much aware of how strange that sounded.
She laughed and shook her shoulders in a bit of shimmy as Dean expressed his excitement over the Apple pie, saying that she had made his favorite and that she shouldn't have, though he was glad she had. Yes! I shoot, I score! she thought to herself. She had been hoping it'd all work out and it looked like it was. "Of course I would make it! I mean, come on! What better dessert is there?" she asked. Who did he think he was talking to? She loved Apple pie almost as much as he did. Almost. She had a feeling that Dean loved it just a bit more than she did and could eat it all day if someone let him. But that was okay. Everyone needed some sort of indulgence.
She was about to say something more when she heard footsteps and then Ben came into the kitchen. He started to say that it was early, and then he realized who was here. She smiled as the two hugged. She watched and listened as they caught up for a little bit. They looked so good together, like a father and son should. She bit her lip. What would Ben say when they told him? Would he hate her for keeping this from him? Finally, she cleared her throat. Well, here goes nothing, she thought to herself. "Ben...there's something...I need to tell you," she said hesitantly. "Ben...Dean is...He's your dad," she said. And I just sounded like Darth Vader. Great... she thought to herself. Well, here was hoping that Ben didn't kill her... --------------------------

He was glad when he felt Dean's arms wrap around him in a tight hug. He hadn't ever really admitted it to anyone but he had really missed the older man that he had seen at one time as a surrogate father. He missed how they had worked on Dean's truck together, how he had showed him how to change the oil in his mother's car to make sure that it was always done on time...he even missed how Dean had punished him at one time for staying out too late and not calling. Most kids his age would think he was crazy for missing another parental figure, but he did.
It was weird, because before Dean he had never seen his life lacking in anything. He and his mother were as close as mother and son could be. She was more than his mother, she was his best friend…and he knew that he was hers. It had been just then since he was born and before he had met Dean he had truly never wanted it any other way. Even when she would go on dates he would tend to act like a complete ass just to make sure that they didn’t come back, not wanting anyone to come between them.
Then that one night when Dean showed up, he knew from the look on his face that something had been wrong, and yet the selfish part of Ben didn’t care. He had wanted nothing more than to make him stay forever, never giving him the chance to leave. Unfortunately when his brother had come back (which after awhile he had found out due to listening to them talk) that he was the reason he had been messed up in the first place, Dean bailed out on them, leaving his family behind.
He had wanted to hate the older man, yet here, now, he couldn’t. “You know you don’t care about school Dean.” He told him with a laugh before hearing his mother’s voice from behind him. "What's going on mom?" He asked, turning to her and stepping out of Dean's embrace to fully face her. He had gotten taller, almost reaching her eyes now, and it was in that moment he realized that something in her eyes made him want to ask her not to tell him whatever it was that he felt the need to tell him. Before he could open his mouth to say so though she told him...told him that she had lied when he asked all those months ago.
His mouth dropped and for a moment he stiffened before his eyes turned hard. He didn't want to yell at her yet for some reason he couldn't stop himself. "I asked you!" He told her harshly. "I asked you months ago, when he first moved out, if he was my dad and you looked me in the eye and told me no!" He told her. "What happened to never lying to me?" He asked before stomping off towards the door, not sure if he'd make it outside before one of them realized he was leaving.
Ben’s Clothes Can Be Viewed Here.
A/N: I had to add some drama in here. He’s not mad that Dean is his dad…he’s mad that his mom didn’t tell him. I also figured this would be a cute time for Ben and Dean to have a cute little father/son bonding moment if Dean went after him.

- - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - Dean could tell that when he held Ben that he felt safe, he could felt that by how tight he hugged him back. Almost like he never wanted to let go. But a part of Dean felt the same way, he had missed him so much that words couldn’t even express how he felt right now. He loved that boy so much, him and his mom is all Dean ever thinks about when he wakes up on the morning. Hell if it wasn’t for them Dean wouldn’t even be alive anymore, they are what keeps him going and helps him push through the day.
Lisa was ready to tell him what she needed to, this was it the moment they would all become a family. It something he has wanted for so long. But Dean wondered how all this was going to go down, he couldn’t believe it Ben was in fact Dean son. Something he had wished and preyed for so many times in the past, that Ben would truly be his. But now that dream had became a reality. He just didn’t know how they were going to break the ice to him, or which of the two was going to tell him. But the big problem here was how he was going to take it when they tell him or how he was going to act for that matter. But Lisa went ahead taking it about herself to tell him, Dean was a but surprised how forward she came about it when she told him. It came out a lot easier then he though it was going to.
Sadly Ben was right about Dean question about school, he never was much for it. But he did in fact care about how well Ben was doing in school, he wanted him to one day make something of himself. He didn’t want him to take the path that Dean did and not care, or get the chance to learn in school for that matter. “Now Ben you know I do care about how you do that isn’t true, you are a smart kid who will go far in life. Don’t you forget that Son.” Dean told him. He also realized that he had called him son, it just had slipped out with out thought but it sounded good to say.
He could tell that Ben was lost wanting for answer on what was going on, but then she told him just getting straight to the point. But now Dean knew why Lisa was worried about telling him, it seemed as thought she had lied to him. But Dean understood why it was to keep him safe, he would have done the same. Ben stormed out of the room after yelling at him mom, Dean quickly walked over taking Lisa in his arms he knew she had to be upset. “Don’t worry he will cool off, I will talk to him.” He said while kissing her on the forehead. “All right I’m going to talk to him.” Dean then made his way out of the kitchen following Ben.

-------------------------- -------------------------- Lisa blew out a breath as Ben yelled at her, saying that he had asked her point blank if Dean was his father and that she had told him no, asking what had happened to never lying to him. This had blown up in her face, just like she was afraid it was going to. It had been good at first with Ben and Dean talking about normal things like school and such, but now it had all fallen apart. And in all honesty, she couldn't even blame him. He had every right to be upset with her. She had really screwed up. But maybe she could explain it to Ben? And would he understand? "I know I should've told you Ben, I know that. I---I was going to you, but I---I was worried that something would sense that we were his weakness and use us---use you---against him. But I know it was wrong to keep it you from. I should've told you and---" her voice trailed off as he stomped off. Nope. He didn't understand. Not that she could blame him. She then blew out a breath. "I really blew it," she said unhappily. I can't believe this. This is exactly what I didn't want to happen, she thought to herself. What was she going to do? Then, she let out a sigh of relief as Dean assured her that he'd talk to him. That was a good idea. Maybe Dean could explain it to Ben in a way that he would understand her reasoning. Or was that just wishful thinking on her part? "Thank you. But he has every right to be upset. I did lie. I always tell him not to lie and then I lied to him. What kind of example is that?" she responded. What had she been thinking? How could she have lied? Would Ben ever forgive her? And more importantly...did she even deserve to be forgiven? --------------------------

He barely heard his mother say that she should have told him, all he heard were excuses. “What would it have mattered? You know damn well that if something was going to use us they were going to do it whether or not he was my biological father!” He yelled before walking out and slamming the door behind him, not caring if the pictures fell of the walls or the light fixtures rattled. He was mad, plain and simple, and being twelve he didn’t know how to channel that anger in a healthy way yet, so he settled for slamming the door.
Once outside he had no idea what to do or where to go. He had a few friends that he had met in the short time that he had lived in Virginia but he knew none of them would understand. How could they when he didn’t understand? He kicked the soccer ball that was laying in the middle of the yard, hard, and watched as it sailed through the air and into the street. Unfortunately a car was coming and didn’t have time to swerve out of the way and Ben watched as the ball was deflated due to the car running over it. Didn’t surprise him and really didn’t matter since he could just go get another one out of the garage (he had several) but at that moment it seemed to add to his already bad mood.
Letting his face fall into his hands he let out a loud groan though because of the changing voice it sounded more like a shriek than anything else, though if anyone asked him he’d deny it until his dying breath. He was a boy after all, meaning that he would admit to nothing less than pure manly things, even at his age.
Not caring that he was deliberately disobeying an order about not leaving the house without telling someone where he was going he took off into a sprint, heading down the road to a park that was nearby, wanting to be anywhere but at his house with his mother and De…his father. This would never stop being weird, even though since he had met Dean he had secretly wished that he had been his father. He wasn’t disappointed by that, just that his mother had kept it from him for so long.

- - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - Poor Lisa this was a lot harder on her then Dean realized, he could tell by how upset she was. Just by the tone in her voice and the way she was stuttering, Dean felt so bad and just wanted to fix everything. He didn’t want any fighting, he just wanted to be happy and get along as a family. He knew now that he was dreaming when he thought all this would go smoothly, he should have known Ben was going to blow up and freak out like this. After all he was Dean’s son.
He could feel that Lisa all ready was feeling better when Dean took her in his arms, she seemed to calm down and not seem so shaky. She didn’t need to worry Dean was going to make all of this better for them, he just needed to talk to there son and make him understand. Lisa felt really bad for the fact that she lied to Ben, which she didn’t need to she had reasons doing what she did. “Babe don’t stress I know why you did what you did, but Ben is a kid so he is never going to understand. All he sees is the fact he was lied to him, he is stubborn like me sadly.” He told her. “But don’t worry I will talk to him and everything will be better, you will see.”
“Ben!“ he yelled to him. Dean walked out of the kitchen to talk to Ben only to find him gone, so he quickly ran up the stairs to see if he could find him. But still he was no where to be found, he quickly ran back into the kitchen to find Lisa. “I cant find Ben he must have been so mad he split, god damn it!” Dean said in a loud tone. He couldn’t believe this, Ben knew that it wasn’t safe to run off like this he know what was in fact out there. What was he even thinking? “I’m going after him to see if I can find him.” Dean told her. “Don’t worry Lisa I will bring him back safe.” Dean was about to walk out and realized they were a family now, Lisa might want to come with. “You want to come with me babe?” he asked her.

-------------------------- -------------------------- Lisa let out another breath as Dean told her to calm down, assuring her that he understood her reasoning, but that all Ben saw was that she had lied to him. "And that's my point! How could I lie to him? What was I thinking? How come I didn't think?" she wondered, running her fingers through her hair as her eyes clouded. This was just bad parenting. She should've just told Ben the truth right from the beginning. Then again, she had never expected to see Dean again. She had just figured that he was too busy doing whatever. But then he had come back. And all the feelings had crept back in. When he assured her that he'd talk to their son, she shot him a grateful smile. "Thanks. He'll listen to you...I think," she said. At least...I hope he will, she thought to herself. She could understand why Ben wouldn't want to talk to her, but maybe he'd be more receptive of Dean. She then watched as the man walked out of the room. Everything would be fine. Dean would talk to Ben, make him understand, and maybe her son would someday forgive him. Moments later, she heard him shouting and followed the sound of his voice, her breath quickening when he said that he had run away. "What?" she gasped. This wasn't good. I can't believe he did this! I know he was mad at me, but to do this? she thought. She bit her lip as Dean said that he was going to find him and then bring him back. "I'll call some of his friends. My cell's in my room," she said. Then, he turned around and asked if she wanted to come with. "Yeah. Just let me get my phone," she replied. If she had her phone, she could call his friends and see where he was. She wouldn't panic until she knew for sure he wasn't at any of them. She went into her room, got her phone, and began dialing as she headed back to where Dean was. "Let's go," she said, as she listened to the phone. --------------------------

Upon arriving at the park he noted with some sense of satisfaction that a storm looked as if it was rolling in. It was still a ways off yet for some reason he was glad to see the clouds start to roll in. He felt as if the weather fit his mood to a T, though he knew that should anyone ask him he didn’t have any real reason to be mad. It wasn’t as if he was upset that his father was someone that he had looked up to since his eighth birthday or someone that he had come to love as father, it was the fact that he had been lied to by his mother, someone he hadn’t thought would ever lie to him.
A thought struck him then, had Dean known all along? Did Dean know when she was pregnant with him and still walk away? Or did he not find out until they had met at Ben’s eighth birthday party, yet he still walked away? Even if he hadn’t know until he had moved in with them after Sam had died, he had still yet again walked away. Anger filled his veins as he thought about how many times that Dean had walked away from his family but he tried to tamper it down. He smiled a rueful smile, though it was bitter and looked out of place on the twelve year olds face...he had the Winchester temper it seemed.
He watched as a mother came and collected her children and once the three of them left he was alone at the small park. It didn't surprise him since he could literally see the clouds rolling towards the town and realistically he knew he should be getting inside. Instead he walked over to the swing set, taking a set on one of the swings and yet making no move to actually swing at all, instead he moved back and fourth, kicking the dirt with one of his shoes.
He knew he was acting selfish yet some small part of him (must be the adolescent teen just trying to break through) found some sort of pleasure out of making his mom and…no…his parents worry about him.
It was selfish…and unlike him…but it was still.
