Alaric didn’t know why Damon had to be so damn stubborn all the time. He always acted so childish sometimes. Damon had mood swings that gave Alaric whiplash sometimes and yet he stayed friends with the annoying vampire, he was Damon’s best friend in fact. Why people would ask? He asked himself that very question a lot as well. Their friendship was puzzling to him at times but Alaric knew that when Damon would always be there for he and he knew that Damon knew he would be there for him. It was weird how they developed this friendship, this bond over the years. Maybe dying and then coming back to life too many times made him become a little insane. That could be something he told everyone whenever they questioned him about that again. He wasn’t the only one who kept forgiving Damon for all the crap he keeps pulling as Elena does as well. She always says she wouldn’t but she ends up forgiving him after she has a cool down period.
He knew Damon was hurting right now and Alaric just had to be patient. That was something that was extremely hard when dealing with Damon but necessary. Damon asked him how he was being annoying and Alaric just laughed. He took a sip of his drink taking his time of answering that question. You just are Damon. You can be just you and be annoying. That is just how it is. Once you are done feeling sorry for yourself you will still be annoying. That is what makes you you he said shrugging. It was the truth and even though Damon was his friend he wasn’t going to sugar coat anything. He would tell Damon the truth no matter what. He knew that Damon needed to hear the hard truth sometimes. He looked up at him when Damon said that he knew Elena would forgive him. She always does Damon. She just needs time and you need to stop feeling sorry for yourself because that is not going to help anyone right now he said. Damon had given him this same speech when Jenna died but it was worded different. Damon had been there for him when he needed him most and he would do the same for Damon, even though this wasn’t exactly the same.
Damon made a comment that he didn’t know why Alaric stayed around. Hell Alaric didn’t know why he stayed friends with Damon. I don’t know either Damon he said honestly. He took sip of his drink and sighed. No matter how they became friends or why they stayed friends they both needed each other. He rolled his eyes at Damon’s next comment. Yeah yeah I know tough guy he said sarcastically. Damon made another comment on his life and he just laughed again. Yeah I have a great life. Coming to cheer you up brings me so much joy Damon he said yet again sarcastically. He took a sip of his drink and sighed. He rubbed the back of his head.
Damon admitted to Alaric that Sophia was special. He smiled glad to see him smile. Then you need to be talking to her instead of feeling sorry for yourself about Elena. You can’t change what happen but you can make a future with Sophia if you really care about her he told Damon. Damon then asked about his love life and Alaric sighed. He honestly hadn’t thought about trying to find someone new after Jenna. No…no one Damon he said and ran a hand through his hair. I actually had a dream about Jenna lately. That she was back, well she came back as a vampire but somehow she came back. It’s crazy I know he said looking at the floor. Alaric hadn’t moved on from Jenna. He thought about her everyday still. Maybe he should learn to take his own advice sometimes as well.
